Dealing with Kia Soul after trying to get our lease buyout has been a ridiculous experience. Took two months to get a lease buyout letter after spending hours on the phone. By the time we got the letter our buyout loan was expired. Finally on month two we get the proper letter. We give the payment to Kia. Guess what we still don’t have the title because NO one will get back to us. I finally asked for a manager's email, in which I got a terrible attitude upon asking. We’ve been emailing for two weeks now with zero response. Vm is totally full. So they took our money and now we have a car we technically can’t drive with no title. Do not buy from them. Hey Kia, a response back would be amazing,

I am writing this review to express my frustration and disappointment with my 2015 Kia Soul!. Despite regular maintenance and proper care, my vehicle has been consuming excessive amounts of oil, which has resulted in frequent top-offs and unnecessary expenses. I have tried to address this issue with Kia Motors Customer Service, but their response has been unsatisfactory. They have failed to provide a solution or take responsibility for the problem, leaving me feeling ignored and disrespected as a customer.

I urge potential buyers to consider this issue before purchasing a Kia Soul. It's important to prioritize reliability and durability in a vehicle, and my experience has shown that this model falls short. Kia Motors Customer Service, I hope you take note of this review and take steps to address the excessive oil consumption issue in your vehicles. Your customers deserve better. #KiaSoul #ExcessiveOilConsumption #PoorCustomerService #DisappointedCustomer

My 2017 Kia Soul Plus is past the engine warranty in mileage. The lifetime warranty should transfer to second owner because they are the one that will experience engine failure!! Kia is very aware of their faulty engines and are leaving owners stranded! I am a 61 yr old woman that is all alone! I recently lost my job and with the loss of usage of my Kia Soul, I couldn't get to work or anywhere!! Kia should build the Kia body and put another reliable engine in their vehicles!! Fix my car as a good will gesture or a tax write off!! I have called customer service and a supervisor! Mostly said "too bad so sad". Kia should be held accountable for ALL one time engine replacement!!

Updated on 03/15/2024: This is a follow-up to October 13, 2023 review of my 2016 Kia Soul and the lack of Kia consumer response and easy out Cass Action Settlements. I've done what any customer would do, and that is reach out a company in earnest. Class Action Settlement for Corporations, like Kia allow them to pay off lawyers and courts and very little to the consumers. Iam going American or European vehicles where you don't have willfully negative guidance not to support your clients. Yes, client!

I've been told to pay for a diagnostic to determine if the Controlling Rod Bearing is defective. Putting 2 quarts of oil in the motor every week is my new normal until I purchase a new vehicle. Kia. America helped with your deceit, and negative practices with your consumers. I would hope the National Transportation Bureau would step in and ground the dysfunctional vehicles that could possibly burn on impact and lead to death. Getting around greed! Kia, shame on you. I will continue to advise consumers I come in contact with is a bad investment. Tuna can with wheels

Original Review: As an automobile consumer, I expected some level of protection from automobile companies that sell vehicles that contained design and/or manufacturing flaws. I have purchased (3) KIA Motor Corporation vehicles, the first 2-cars were Kia's Serento and Optima. Both were excellent vehicles but the 3rd and probably my last purchase from Kia was a 2016 Kia Soul. The Kia Soul has been very much a disappointment on multiple levels. The auto was purchased in 2015, before the covid crisis. I understand that this period was a challenging period for all businesses but we have since recovered and have moved past it to a certain extent. It is my belief that Kia after identifying that specific autos in their product lineup contain design and/or manufacturing flaws they need to rectify the reported issues to keep their clients happy.

I’ve encountered several issues with the Kia Soul where the service engine light comes on there is engine vibration. So as a responsible automobile owner, I scheduled service with my local Kia dealer for the problem to be diagnosed. Upon waiting for the date of my service appointment the engine light goes out prior to the scheduled appointment and am told that they cannot diagnose the problem because the service engine light is no longer lit. Even though they tell me that my engine contains a very low level of engine oil which translates that my engine is burning oil, they do not look into why my car is now burning oil. How could they expect that a Kia auto owner would accept the answer if we cannot diagnose your auto because the service engine lit is no longer lit but we know your engine is burning oil but we’re not going to look any further into why it's burning oil.

These are the facts… My automobile has had multiple recalls that make my auto unsafe to drive and none of the KIA dealerships are willing to make the required repairs due to the lack of service resources at their locations. (Post COVID) I have made 6+ service appointments in a 2-3 months period waiting patiently towards getting my auto serviced but I keep getting told that they don’t have the resources to service my auto. It has been reported that one of the recalls on my auto could lead to my engine blowing up while driving the vehicle.

My Oil light continuously comes on and goes out and my engine is still burning oil leaving me in a position where I have to put oil into my auto every other week. Kia Service also told me that my problem could stemmed from my catalytic converter but they cannot verify anything until I can bring my auto in with a lit service engine light. I’m not a automotive repair expert nor machinic but I find this hard to believe. This will be my last purchase of a Kia if they do not resolve my auto issues.

I bought my 2019 Soul new. When it had 46,000 miles on it the fuel pump quit working. I called the dealer so I could bring it in to be fixed. They said it would be a month before they could look at it. The other 2 Kia dealers in my area said the same thing. I could not go without a car for a month and could not afford to rent one for a month. I bought a new fuel pump from the dealer for $997 and paid a local garage $600 to install it. I submitted my claim for reimbursement with photos of the bills and mileage. They refuse to reimburse me because I didn't have it repaired by a Kia dealer. On top of that they voided my warranty for letting someone else fix it when they wouldn't. I will never buy a Kia again. Their warranty is worthless because they won't honor it.

I had an oil change in May 2022, by August 2022 had an issue with car not moving with gas pedal to the floor. I had burned thru almost every ounce of oil and I had no idea of the problem until I had my garage check it. I was very lucky to not have the engine seize. It only had 70, 500 miles on it. Had to monitor the mileage and determined a quart was needed every 1000 miles. The Pre-owned Certified 10 year /100,000 mile warranty that my salesman said was great only covered engine problems if you are the original owner (of course that's not mentioned in the warranty). It's my understanding that this is a problem on most Kia cars/SUVs and some Hyundai's as well. I received no help from Kia at all and the dealership wanted to do their own oil change for the consumption test ($85.00). If burning oil was verified, the next test would be cleaning the upper half of the engine and again monitor oil consumption.

My garage said they had never heard of this test ($500) advised me to get rid of it. Bottom line, a $7.00 part was supposed to fix the problem, according to other Kia owners in a forum, this fix didn't resolve the issue. I only had $6100 left on my loan and took excellent care of it, thinking that it would last at least to 125,000 miles before a serious problem would happen. I got tired of monitoring and adding oil, so I traded it in. I hope it sits in the dealership inventory for a long time as they are asking for $14,000 for it.

We have been waiting for 6 months and dealership saying they don't know how long it will take and there's nothing they can do. Man, I would HATE to be a Kia employee right now just because they're having to deal with my fire and fury. My 2022 Kia Soul was stolen this past weekend. Windows busted. Ignition plate ripped off. I located it and took it to get repaired at the dealership. The employee showed me just how easy it was for them to steal it. All you have to do is rip off the ignition plate. The internet is saying all you need is a screwdriver and a USB. But you don't even need that. The employee showed me how it was cranked, and he did it with his FINGERNAILS. You can crank a Kia.... with your fingernails.

I also asked why the alarm didn't go off whenever they smashed my windows? Well that's because the windows are not hooked up to any sort of security system with an alarm. WHAT IS THE POINT OF HAVING YOUR WINDOWS CLOSED AND YOUR DOORS LOCKED AT ALL THEN? Where is the Kia's engine immobilizer? It is 2022, and Kia is actively producing and selling cars without theft prevention in place. What is a Kia worth to me that gets stolen? I'll go ahead and value it at $0. I spent thousands of dollars on this damn car just for it to get stolen. A car that is so easily stolen is a WORTHLESS car.

It's been going on for the last year and a half. They are now wanting to put a flight tracker to see how fast and how slow the car is driven and that it will capture whatever happened. I told Kia Canada nobody will be driving this car. We will no longer be there. Guinea pig we will not put our lives at risk to test their product that if they would like that done they can have their texts or service or sales or whatever people drive my vehicle as we will not be. I have asked for my money back for this car since approximately 6 months after purchase at which point I was laughed at and told to trade it in for something else on the Kia lot. I can't even drive onto the Kia lot. The trauma is so unbelievable that I end up having the worst anxiety and crying with it. I cannot drive the car. I will not drive the car. Go to dealership the check engine light is on the whole time. They tell me the whole of Kia's computers are down and don't know when they can look at my car. They didn't have a loaner and I had to rent a car.

Two days later they tell me the mechanic scanned the car and they couldn't find anything wrong. The check engine light is no longer on. I'm out $125 for the rental car. Pick up the car no problem. 3/3/21 I'm about to drive onto the freeway. I come to a stop before entering the slip road and the engine turns off. I put the car in park and restart the vehicle and again the check engine light is on. I drive it to the dealership and the guy tells me he can't look at it till tomorrow. I said I'm not getting another rental and then have you tell me that there's nothing wrong with it tomorrow, so he went to see what was going on and came back and said it had shown that it needs a new PCM.

I asked what that was and he said it's basically the brain of the computer. I've never had any issues with Kia customer service until now. The guy I spoke to today was very short with me when I asked him for some help getting information to them. I traded in an older Honda Civic for this car. Never had any issues. Also, their sister company Hyundai has recalled the 2014 & 2015 Tucson with the same engine. There is a defect with this engine. I have been leasing a Kia Soul since 2017. I was attracted to it after having a loaner when my Toyota Matrix was in the shop some time ago. One sits up a bit higher than the smaller cars I've typically driven. For drivers with sciatica or low back pain, that is a blessing. The color was gorgeous and for those who think this is a small thing, I found it morale boosting.

    Drawbacks:

    Road noise.
    Blind spot.
    No navigation on dash.

    Shaky on wet, slick roads.

But the strengths are not to be ignored: Rapid maneuverability even with the stated rollover risk -- such as when a deer, a skateboarder, or a dreamy pedestrian appear. Never, ever had trouble getting in or out of a parking space: It's compact and trim. I ended up buying snow tires, and that helped a bit. I'm debating about my next lease. I would love to stay with Kia but I really need some incentives to do so. Wishing you well in your decision.

This is the third Soul I have owned and the worst car I have ever owned. My new souls in the past I have loved and always recommended. Not the case with the 2020 Soul. There have been many changes, and in my opinion all bad. First, the most dangerous one. The high beam switch, the shape has been changed and has a flat area that when you move your fingers forward you risk accidentally toggling the headlights off. It has happened to me over ten times. It should be recalled on this.

The second is the auto start/stop feature that can not be turned off. The salesman said it could, but did not tell me that every time you turn off the car it resets. I always forget and it turns off when I do not want it to. Dangerous when you are trying to get out into busy traffic and you try for that open spot and there is a delay starting the car. The cruise control is by far worse than the other souls I have had. They say it is working fine and normal. The seat belt alarm will not stop chiming if the belts are not fastened. The bigger chiming problem is the rear hatch. It will not stop chiming if it is open. If I am getting something large I will have the back open but tied down and I get to listen to the chiming the 30 minute drive home. Many other minor announces as well, too many to list. Worst car I have ever owned and will never buy another Kia again.

Always maintained the car with premium oil and filters per the maintenance schedule. I contacted the Kia customer service. At first they were very apologetic and directed me to take my car to a local Kia dealership. Mechanic determined the piston failed and damaged the engine. Repair requires a new engine. When I performed an internet search, I discovered that this is a pervasive issue with many Kia models/years and several recalls have been issued due to the engines failing due to poor quality control. There are many complaints on the NHTSA website.

After a couple of weeks with my car at a Kia dealership, Kia customer service notified me that my claim was denied. I asked what was the basis of the denial and was told they did not know what it was. If Kia had offered any support to me at all, I would have been appreciative. I expect a recall will be issued for my VIN in the next several months. Until then, I plan to describe my experience with Kia on as many review boards and other internet sites as possible. I would have praised Kia if they had offered any assistance to me to even include a deal for a new Kia vehicle.

Kia transmission. I have a 2019 white Kia Soul that I had a problem back in 2019 October with a hard bump when I come to a complete stop. Was told by Gunther Kia in Fort Lauderdale that my car was getting to know how I drive. This is a 2019 brand new car, good. Purchased it the ending of 2018 brand new. This is unbelievable so I was told by the service manager to go home and they will call me once they hear from Kia tech-support then I need to bring the vehicle back and this is what I did. Now at this point I was told they would need to reset my vehicle and this will take care of the problem which I did right. Good for about 5 Months maybe. I just had to take my car back to Service on February 2020 for the same hard Thump.

Now again service at Gunther Kia is telling me the car is getting to know how you drive, there is no lights indicating that there is a problem with the Kia soul. I go home, talk to my husband and he advised we need to take the car back to Kia because we did not buy the car like this and there is definitely a problem. The service manager at Kia advise will Will advise Kia tech-support that no matter if there’s no lights on the car, no matter if the fluids are good on the car that this car needs a new transmission so it gets better. Kia the maker of the car call me and states, "Miss ** we want to make this right. We are sorry that you have gone through this. We’re going to Three months reimbursement of car payments. You just need to sign the offer letter and send back."

Lord Jesus help me. These evil vindictive people in Fine print want me to do away with my rights for the lemon law if this happens again. Kia motors the makers of the car Are doing wrong to the consumers trying to buy them off with a couple hundred bucks but because I read the fine print I refuse it. Please please be aware of Things like this because money is not worth you having to stay with a brand new vehicle And pay payments even if it’s broken. I’m truly upset about this. I’ve had three incidents for the same problem that just got fixed on Saturday just passed.
