I parked my 1997 F150 running fine. I went outside and after about 4 hours, it was smoking real bad by the break cylinder. We cut the battery cables, but the wiring all burned. I'm on foot now.

My Ford F150 Supercrew 5.4 had #3 at #7 blow out. I had a mechanic put one back in with a Helicoil for $50.00 and the other I bought a kit at O'Reilly, which they have 2 types, one for $30.00 the other for $60.00. I had a mechanic put it in for $45.00. They probably knew about that the heads were no good just like the tires they sold several years back. It would cost them a lot to destroy the heads and make new ones.

Both rear springs broke on my 2003 Ford Taurus. I had to replace both rear springs and struts, plus pinch bolt sheared upon removal of struts. I had to remove the entire right rear wheel hub to remove sheared bolt. Luckily, the vehicle was stationary when broken springs were discovered. It could have been ugly if springs had broken and punctured tires while moving.

I am currently leasing a Ford Edge from Ford. In my lease, Ford is responsible for the excise tax. I pay $360.00 a month. Two weeks ago, I found out that Ford did not pay the excise tax on my truck and even worse, my plates had been expired since May 2010. I have contacted Ford back and forth and also, I have contacted the City Hall of the town where I live in and they are telling me the excise tax has not been paid while Ford is telling me it has been. So two weeks later, I am still with my truck but off the road. Also, I recently made my monthly payment to Ford but I cannot even drive my truck.
I am very disappointed with the way Ford is handling things. I feel they should resolve this with City Hall because their name is on the lease and they are responsible. I just keep getting the run around from both ends because City Hall says it is not paid while Ford says it is. I just want to find out who is responsible and get it resolved as quickly as possible.

The left front suspension spring broke and punctured the left front tire causing it to explode. This happened when my wife got in the car to go to work, but the car was not moving. Thankfully, this did not happen while traveling 65 mph on the highway. I reported the problem to Ford and was told they would not assist with the repairs, even though a recall was made for the 2001 model year for similar problems. There are many reports of spring breakage, both front and rear for the 2002 models of Sable and Taurus. Ford needs to recognize this for what it is, a safety defect, and recall all the vehicles to have it fixed.

On February 12th, 2011 at approximately 7:00 pm, I received a phone call while at dinner with my wife and friends. I received probably 10 calls within just a few minutes and found that the 1995 Ford F-150 truck, "my buddy that is stationed in Afghanistan and has been deployed 3 times since 2005", in my driveway was on fire and that the fire was getting very large. Now I have to say I thought this was a joke as the truck had not been driven since February 8th. When I arrived home, I found the fire department on scene and they had some questions for me. Then, they informed me it appeared that the truck I have experienced "a recall fire". Once I was finished filling out the police report, I went inside and searched the recall. I found that this fire matched the pictures and descriptions of what I saw in the search.
The fire started with the ignition off and it not having to be turned on. It started according to witnesses on the driver’s side somewhere right over the front driver’s tire, or somewhere close according to eye witnesses. The bad thing is that it also caught my car on fire right beside it and totaled it. It burned my boat cover off, the 21 foot sea ray boat in front of it as well. I didn't realize that the boat cover had damage. When it melted the 6 inches of snow off and then rained, the angle the boat was sitting, it also filled the back of the boat to the point it filled the motor full of water and froze. Now the boat motor is ruined as well.
One of my neighbors ran down with 2 fire extinguishers and tried to put it out when it was not too large. My neighbor said it was all right around the driver’s side tire. But he couldn't get it put out because he didn't get the hood open. He used 25 lbs. extinguisher and 5 lbs. extinguisher on it and cooled the driver’s side off, but didn't get the motor and things and fire put out. I have found several people that watched this fire from the beginning and gave statements.
I contacted Ford and was advised not to contact attorney or insurance of course. But I had already contacted the insurance and was advised that it was a recall fire and to contact Ford. I advised Ford of that and was told they would forward my claim to the Office of the General Counsel. I waited my 14 business day period and called back. They updated my information. They told me after I asked that they could not give me contact info for the General Counsel because it would be illegal. But they told me to give it another 14 business days. Once again, the time came and went.
I again called. They told me that it had been sent to an address in another state where the truck had been worked on in 2006 and 2007 (I believe the dates are right) when he was home between deployments. It had not been sent to me, even though I have his power of attorney and had already told them that twice and had been assured that everything was good. Then once again, my information was updated. I was told to wait 14 days and I would receive a letter from them. I asked if they could do anything to speed this up as I have a disabled child that has therapy in another town more than 30 miles from my home twice a week. I was given after much pushing to a supervisor.
The supervisor assured me that I would receive a call or letter very shortly, call within 2 days. I called back after almost a week and advised the same supervisor that I had received nothing and wanted something done now. To shorten this up, I will just say that I was told I only had a 90-day period from the time the fire happened to file my claim officially. And finally, I received the claim paper work just after day 60. A short time after Ford received my documents, they told me there was no way that the fire was a recall fire. It’s because the windshield was broken on the passenger side and the passenger side was damaged more than the driver’s side.
There was no discussing it. It didn't matter what witnesses said, including the police that had my car jerked out from beside the truck to separate all the vehicles and keep my other vehicles shed from catching on fire. The police and all witnesses said the wind was so bad that the flames, while still just an engine compartment fire, were coming about 5 feet past the tailgate of the Ford truck. When talking to one of the firefighters, he told me the windshield broke when water was sprayed on it.
Carmon ** told me that I could appeal the decision. But to do so, I "would have to hire my own attorney and my own expert, and the money would come out of my pocket". Wow! I was livid. Paraphrasing, she told me it didn't matter what witnesses saw or what happened. The burden of proof was on me to show that it was a recall fire and to prove it.
Well, I have had to run my wife to work and then use her car to pick up my child from school and run her back and forth to therapy. I have an old work truck that I can drive to and from work. But it gets about a fourth of the MPG as my car and costs a lot more to drive. My car was totaled. The Ford was totaled. The boat cover that was singed let water leak into the boat. And since I didn't know it pulled back and filled the boat with water, it froze at some point shortly thereafter and busted the block on it. And now it is ruined. I also had a small toolbox in the front on the floor board of the Ford, while not a lot. It was ruined and I will have to replace.

My father was leasing a vehicle from ford; before his lease was up he passed away. Before he died he had told me if anything happens to me, since the car was being purchased for me, “You can return the car to Ford or continue the payments or buy it.” Well my dad passed away in December 2010. I continued making the payments until I was able to contact Ford about the lease and notify them. Well, February was coming fast so I contacted Ford. This was Victor.
When I contacted him I told him the situation and we set a meeting that was at the time of the lease being up. He assured me we would work something out. The weight went off my shoulders and I felt good for a change. Things hadn’t been going so well to this point. But then I meet with him and Ford credit says I need to prove I am executor of my father’s trust. So I brought evidence of that. But the trust says mom is first, well she preceded him in death so I brought them a death certificate which now named me executor. Then Ford throws me for a loop and says we need a payment to keep the car in good standing which I forked over the same day. The salesman tried everything humanly possible to get me that vehicle. He heard my story he was empathetic to me. Ford then told me after all that, they could not sell me the car from the lease my dad had.
Now in the eyes of the law, I was my father, was I not, executor of his will? I had the same rights my father had on that ending lease. I opted to buy the vehicle, one of his options when lease was up. They could take my money for payment but I offered them cash on the spot for the balance owed on the car. They refused to allow me to purchase the vehicle and said I needed to turn the car in. They would do a fair market value on the car and sell it to me for that price. I was LIVID. They wanted more money for a car my father had already put $14000 toward buying and instead of me paying the balance owed of $10,196, they want me to purchase the car at a higher price, which with a few thousand tacked on the car was still conceivable to purchase, but the principal of it is. It was a binding contract between my father and them.
My father died. I, his executor, with power of attorney had every right to purchase that vehicle at lease end. I did everything the legal route. I could have just sent them a cashier s check at end of lease and pretended he was alive. But I did the right thing. I was truthful. And they just told me I wasn’t eligible to purchase that vehicle. Now with the power of attorney makes me good as him, does it not? I am soon, really soon having to turn this vehicle in to them and walk away $14000 in to their pocket with nothing to show for it. Is that fair? I know one thing; my father had bought over 10 fords over his lifetime. I was big on buying Fords and when he brought this car home to me and said, “Go look at your new car.” I frowned because I said, “Let me guess, it’s a Ford?” He said, “No, it’s mercury.” and I got in the Milan and I love it. The best car I ever had. And now Ford just made my dad’s love for Ford die with him. And they almost had me sold. What rights do I have? Please help

In February of 2008, I bought a Ford F-150, and then in April of that same year, I became disabled, due to being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, thus changing my entire life. I called Ford Motors credit, and told them what had happened, and that I needed to surrender my vehicle to them, as it would take months for my SSD to start-up. Their response was to try to sell it for a few months, and see if that worked out, which I did, but that was when the country was going through major layoffs, and no one seemed to be buying anything.
At the same time, Ford, as well as GM, and a couple of other auto-makers, came up with the no fault voluntary surrender program for those that have lost their jobs, and would not reflect on their credit. When I called them back once again, they agreed to come get it, which took a couple of more months, for them to come and get it. When I recently got a copy of my credit report, guess what was on my credit report? Yes, a Ford Motors credit repossession. When I called them about this, they seem to have "selective amnesia" regarding this program. I didn't lose my job due to cutbacks or anything, it was because I could no longer work, due to a debilitating disease. To me this was very deceptive, and was only made public, to deceive the public into believing that they were really going to do what they said they would do. Totally fraudulent IMO.

They took the coil off, bandaged truck together, so I could get home because they did not have the proper tools to fix it and Ihad to get home to take my medication way late in the afternoon. When I got home, took medication, tried to relax to get blood presser down. Don't know what to do for sure to get fixed, working on it only. Form of transportation that I have other than boat have to get fixed somehow don't what it will cost yet or where I am going to get the money disabled s.s.i. fixed income.
Don't know if spark plug damaged hood or not to upset to look at truck yet, I think Ford Motor co., should fix the problem. Apparently, they have known about it in the 5.4l triton engines for a long the sure did not notify me about it they did fix my truck, so the crude control would not set it on fire after they were frosted into it by the court system. To my understanding, have to quit writing, getting very sleepy and did not have a very good day.

I've been leasing Ford vehicles now for many years; a car for my wife and also a truck for myself. We've never had a problem when we returned our vehicles when the leases were up. I returned the Ford 2009 Fusion to Dave Smith Ford and got a new 2010 Fusion. When the 2009 was checked out, there were no issues with the inspection. Now four months later, I got a call from Ford Credit from a woman named Alex at **, stating one tire was low and had excessive wear. We are being charged $300 for this tire. I've never had this happen before and I believe this is an unwarranted charge. I did rotate those tires during my lease and if the tire was low when I returned it, then I believe it was a faulty tire.
Why did it take this long to determine something was wrong with one of the tires? If I have to pay for this tire, then I want the tire returned to me and this will be my last Ford purchase.

When I was about 10 minutes away from my destination, all of a sudden, we heard a loud sound & a lot of pressure hit us in the chest. The truck then began to fill up with smoke. I pulled over not knowing what had just happened. We then noticed that the side curtain air bags had deployed. I did not hit anyone nor did anyone hit us. I then called 911 & asked for the police to come out & give me a police report and he refused to give me one.
I took my truck to Malcolm Cunningham & they said that there was nothing that they could do for me but to put it on a sensor machine & find out why they deployed. They then told me that my car insurance would be responsible for this & the insurance company said that it was a maintenance issue & not their problem. I called Ford Corporation & the only thing that they told me was they could just put in a claim, but there was nothing else that they could do unless someone died or was severely injured.
Well, all 3 of us were injured in this incident. I need help in this matter. I am now out of a truck that I am still paying on & Liberty Mutual Insurance will not pay for me for a rental and I have full coverage insurance. Everywhere I turn, everyone is turning me down, like it was my fault. This has caused me pain, suffering, emotional stress and not to mention time off work. I own a 2003 Ford Taurus. In Feb 2008, while leaving a parking garage, my Left front spring suddenly broke and my car came to a sudden halt. Luckily, I was not driving down the highway when this happened. I had the car towed to the dealership who said that I had to have both front springs and shock absorber assemblies replaced and I got stuck with a bill for $700! While being ticked off that a spring, of all things, could break (who ever hear of that happening?) I nonetheless caulked it up to bad luck. It was only after I had the repair that I learned that Ford in fact had a recall but my model year was outside of the recall period.
Now July 2010 I have the car into the shop for an A/C clutch repair and to replace the coolant tubes for $1200. (Ok , now the car is old and has 110K on it). When I went to pick it up at the dealership, they casually mentioned that my Rear Springs are broken and it would cost another $1000. I flipped out. It's one thing to pay for maintenance on an older car but now the Back Springs! Not this again. Now I'm left with no vehicle and 2 kids to walk to stores with. They should have a notice about recall through DMV when someone registers a car! Ford sucks. When did you see a Honda on fire? Never. I lost my only vehicle. I have two kids and just claimed bankruptcy so I have no money to replace. A laptop was in there among other things.

I've been reading through the complaints regarding broken coil springs in Mercury Sables. I have a 1993 Mercury Sable. The front coil springs were replaced by a recall in about 2001. Today, while changing tires, my mechanic noticed that the front springs were broken and need to be replaced. Approximate cost is $900. He also warned of potential tire damage if I didn't replace the springs soon. My point is that even with the original springs replaced by the recall, the replacements aren't reliable either. And, it is possible to drive on broken springs without being aware of it until something more major happens.
In my case, there was no immediate economic or physical damage. If I replace the springs as my mechanic suggests, the cost is $900. If I ignore the problem, the cost is potentially greater. I've never owned a car that had this problem and think it is especially odd that it occurs after a recall that supposedly fixed the problem. And, I am surprised that there are so many people with similar experiences.

However, I owned a 1999 Ford Expedition until March 31, 2010 with no indications of any problems. My truck burned completely up on the past evening (March 31, 2010). Even though I purchased this vehicle used, I never knew that the 1999 Expedition was a recall vehicle until after the fire. On the evening of March 31 (about 45 minutes) after returning home, someone knock on my door and informed me that my truck was on fire. My truck was park next to my house. My roof receives fire damage as well. Everything underneath my hood burned to ash.
On April 1, 2010, after research online because I didn't understood how my truck just burn with no one inside truck, I found out there was a recall on the 1999 Expedition. On April 1, 2010, I called Ford Customer Relationship Center for assistance. Someone listened to my complaint and gave me a case number and said someone will be getting in touch with me. It took about fifteen days before anyone touch based with me regarding my complaint. I only talk with someone through mail. Never would Ford call me. I was told to gather information and sent back before my case would be considered. I gather the information that Tina **, Legal Analyst of OGC Product Litigation, requested.
Ford would never call me or answer my calls regarding this issue. Ford offered the amount of $3,177.00 in the interest of customer satisfaction and as a goodwill gesture. After not accepting the offer, I received a letter saying "Customer satisfaction is one of the primary objective of Ford Motor Company. We commit substantial resource and diligent efforts in a sincere attempt to address the concerns of our customers. We regret not being able to assist you further; our review of your claim indicates that the previous determination is appropriate. Therefore, we will not make any adjustments or revisions to our earlier decision."
Ford is offering me an amount of $3177.00 when my 1999 Expedition is still under a lease agreement of a 5-year plan with $1328.00 from being paid off in full. Now, if I was to take the amount offer, that will leave me with about maybe $1500- $1800.00 clear. Now, I have been out of over $20,000.00 in payment over the five years. I don't think it's fair how Ford has treated me regarding this issues. I honesty didn't know any about the recall; I had no idea about this. Now I'm stuck without a vehicle and a lost of value. I have lost one job for lack of transportation. I only had liability insurances on my truck due to hardship. I called the Ford Company, but they will not return any of my calls. Can someone please help me or guide me in the direction to resolve this issue?

The spring went through the front tire when they were travelling 80 km/hour. Luckily, she was able to control the car and get it stopped with no one being hurt or killed! They had to struggle to get the tire changed because the car was virtually sitting on the ground and they had to dig a hole so they could get the jack under the car. Looking at the past history of this defect, there are many other people that are having the same problem. Seeing that there was a recall on the 1999-2001 models, many of the victims own 2002-2003 models. Obviously, this defect was not corrected and therefore, Ford should open the recall to these models as well as a safety precaution. The driver's side back strut and spring collapsed as well leading me to believe it is a problem with the springs, perhaps faulty design.
Ford has offered no help with this. My mechanic can't believe this is not recalled. I have now spent $669.00 for combo spring strut assemblies since all of them need to be replaced, you can't just do one side and that's not counting the tire that was punctured due to the faulty spring. I really want to push for this recall and see if there is anything that can be done for us that have had to pay out huge sums of money for this fix. Ford charges $350.00 each for the spring strut assembly.
How can anyone afford that? The tire was punctured. The car was flat to the ground on one side. Thank God, this happened in my parking lot at work, not when I was in the car or with my children in the car. The $669.00 is for the spring strut assemblies alone. Tire is extra. Labor to have the job done is extra. I don't have this kind of money. I really want to see if there is any kind of recall or payout for this particular situation. It was parked at 9 am in front of our house. At around 1:30 am in the morning, we were awakened by the fire department saying the vehicle was on fire. The truck was totaled. The fire marshall said that it looked like the fire started in the engine wiring. The fire did not reach the interior of the truck but the windshield was shattered by the heat.
The insurance investigator said it looked like it started in the battery area. The battery was new but did not have a recall. I checked with Ford and was told there was no recalls on the 2005 models F-150 with our VIN# yet there were recalls on models from 2000 to 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2008 for engine fires on parked vehicles, "flaming fords". I also call the dealership we purchased the pickup from, Town East Ford Mesquite, TX but they weren't helpful pretending not to know about "the flaming Fords" issue.
For me, it leaves a question mark on how the fire started. Our insurance company, AARP-Hartford has been great but is still investigating the fire. My grandson is without transportation and all the money he invested in payments is gone. He owed $14,000 at the time of the fire. At this time, I have no idea what will be the outcome and since the value of the vehicle is less than the amount he owed, we could end up owning thousands of dollars. I can't believe that all the above models were recalled because of engine fires, yet the 2005 model was never recalled. Have there been other complaints on the 2005 F150? I have a 2006 Focus bought new but after viewing all the recalls of Ford Vehicles, I will never buy another Ford vehicle.

In Oct '08, I took it out for provincial inspection, in order to insure it and license it, and parked it in front of my garage. I had to run an errand returning approximately twenty five minutes later, to find both my garage totally in flames, and my truck being totally destroyed. I have many photos, which Ford has seen. The fire marshal and arson squad, without any doubt, determined the origin of the fire was in the truck engine compartment. I have been corresponding with Mr. ** since then. They sent their own expert, but he was unable to come to any conclusion, because of the extensive damage.
The truck had never been altered in any way, and is still under warranty, with eighty six hundred miles. Now, here is the kicker. Ford is claiming, because they cannot determine where the fire started, they are denying my claim. My contention is regardless of the cause, it began in their product, so my claim is totally justified because at the time of the fire, I was seventy-nine years old. Yes, it was a traumatic experience, having been a Ford user for fifty nine years, plus restoring many Ford vehicles. I lost in my garage, even though it was insured, books and materials money cant buy. Also, two heat damaged vehicles near the fire. Mr. ** has countless photos of the fire. She usually drives, she loves my truck. She got out of the drivers seat, I got in. She opened the driver's side passenger door to retrieve the things she needed, I closed the driver's door and all of a sudden, the side airbags deployed. It scared the living daylights out of the both of us. I thought something hit us while we were parked but this was not the case. They deployed just by shutting my door!
I have been on the phone with Ford to no avail. I have talked to the dealership with no resolution. They claim that this is my responsibility since the car is out of warranty. I called the dealership service department to see if there is anything that can be done. They too claimed that there was nothing that they could do because they only sell the cars, not build them. He then said something that really ate at me. He told me that his technicians state that there is no way that the airbags could deploy by shutting the door. I took this to heart a bit as if I was being told that I am a liar. Nothing hit my car, the car was parked, there is no damage to my car that would cause this to happen. I have bee opening and shutting this car's doors for 5 years, sometimes angrily, and the bags didn't go off. Heck, three years ago someone hit the car on the driver's side while it was parked and the bags did not deploy then.
I need your help. This is obviously a defect that has caused this. If the technicians were to look at the truck, they would see that this is a defect. I am a bit frightened to even operate the vehicle for fear that the front bags would deploy while I am driving. I cannot afford to have this repaired and do not believe that I should either. I do believe that Ford needs to take care of this. Everyone I have talked to has pretty much blown this off. Again, there was no impact. If there were, then I would be contacting my insurance company and not Ford, the dealership or asking for help from you.
Please sir, I need your help. My truck is in very good condition and now I cannot get the car inspected and fear that the front airbags will go off. With no inspection the vehicle is useless and this is our only transportation. This situation should be taken care of by Ford as it is a clear defect.

I just bought a 2002 Ford Taurus SES. It has 105,000 miles on it. One night, it was sitting in my driveway and the front coil spring broke. It went through my new tire. This happens a lot, says the service guy. The previous model year had a recall for this problem. 2002 doesn't. If you're driving and it breaks, you will wreak. There are a lot of these time bombs out there and nothing is being done about it. The damage this time was to my wallet, over $500.00. Then again, I wasn't driving it when it decided to break. So it could have been worse.

Car had to be flat-bedded to service station, where it was determined that the front strut and sway bar link were also broken by the spring breaking. The car is being fixed. He did the work on the car because I needed to be at work on Monday morning but told me to check it out.
I found many complaints on the consumer affairs website but none for my model year. I contacted Ford and registered a complaint (#0289562315). The gentleman told me that my car wasn't included in the recall and that my car wasn't covered under warranty. He told me that I would be responsible for the cost of the repairs. I am very worried about the rear springs too. I frequently drive with children in my car. At the very least, I expected them to offer to inspect the rear springs but they offered nothing. Ford should pay for repairs when they are aware that a part is failing. I needed to replace the 2 front struts, buy 2 new tires (mine were discontinued) and pay for a front-end alignment.

On June 23, 2009, our 2000 Ford Expedition caught fire on the driveway. Had the neighbors not alerted us, my Chevy crew cab would have burned up too. My brave 10-year-old son kept the flames down with the garden hose until a neighbor took over, then the Fire Department. It was all paid for so we didn't have full coverage just to save money, hmm. So, we had to go after Ford. What a miserable experience that has been. First, they said we didn't respond to their two recall letters. What letters were they talking about? You mean the junk mail style envelopes that we probably threw away because they looked like junk mail? And, they should have been certified if they are life and death important?
Anyways, they offered to give us $3500. Why so low? Well, they said the Blue Book Value was a national $7000 but then divide that by the two recall letters and you have the $3500. Oh my, I can't believe they are penalizing us for not reading their junk mail recall letters! So I called them up and their legal dept. said to write another letter to appeal, or bring up new argument, and they'll take a look and see what they can do. Promising, right? Wrong! Now they said we had rejected their offer, so case closed - nothing, zip, nada! We are shocked and amazed and with a burnt Ford in the driveway. We can't afford another car payment, we are barely making it as it is. My wife is driving a little junker car that we had almost sold. We hate Ford. What now?

While in the store, I noticed the customers and employees were talking about a car on fire. I walked down the aisle where I had parked and realized that the F150 was the one that started the fire and this fire spread and it took out 5 other vehicles. The firefighter and the investigator mentioned that it looked like the fire could have started due to recalls on Fords.
I called Steve at the Ford service center and I gave him my VIN in which he stated that the F150 had 2 recalls, one for the seat belts and the other for the speed control sensor. My father’s truck only had liability insurance which I know the other vehicles will be taken care of, but due to a recall my father is now without a vehicle. My father's "burnt" truck is now parked in the drive way. The fire started in the engine part of the truck and spread to the bed. I own a 2000 Mercury Sable LS and am experiencing the same frustration as the 36 pages of other Mercury Sable and Ford Taurus owners regarding broken coil springs. These springs (front and rear) were manufactured using inferior steel and/or process. The model year ranges from 1999-2003 from the complaints I have read. The springs will fail, perhaps catastrophically if the vehicle is in motion, slicing tires and causing further damage with cost that must be absorbed by the owner. Incredible!
Finally, in 2004, Ford issued a recall for certain model years, and for the front springs only - again, the same problem exists for the rear springs! Recall ID# 04V332000, for the Mercury model. I have had the front springs replaced at a dealer at manufacturer's cost. I still have 1 broken rear spring. I made it to my driveway and couldn't see any damage. Later that day, I began to back out of my driveway and heard a loud clanging noise and what sounded like an explosion. Driver's side front tire had exploded. I thought I had to have ran over a nail or glass or some sharp object.
Upon further inspection, I found the object that was impaling it was my spring coil. I was thoroughly pissed, mainly because it was a brand-new tire. I had to have my car towed, and after a $400-$500 repair plus a new tire, I was really angry to find this is a recurring problem in this 2002 Taurus. Now months later, my car is making a horrendous clanging noise when I make a sharp left turn, and it's only coming from that front driver's side area.
Ford should be held responsible and have to fix these cars throughout the car's life. I'm scared to death to drive this car and cannot afford a new one. My son (20 years old) was driving down the road at 30 miles an hour in my vehicle, a 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac, and without warning, without hitting anything, literally while driving down the road the airbags deployed. He managed to keep control of the vehicle and pull to the shoulder and called me. When I arrived, a witness told me that it looked like the inside of the truck just exploded while he was driving. The police were called and the officer who wrote the report told my son that this has happened before and there was actually a police officer hurt this way.
We took the vehicle to Ace Ford in Woodbury, NJ and got an estimate of $3500! I called my insurance, Allstate, who I pay over $4500 a year to for auto insurance. The adjuster, who was an ignorant jerk to my son and I told me that they wouldn't cover it because the airbags didn't deploy during an accident. He went on to say that had he hit a pole or another vehicle, it would be covered, but in this case they wouldn't. I said, "So you're telling me you won't pay on a technicality?" He responded, "Yes". To add to his unprofessional demeanor, he pulled away from Ace Ford with the key to my truck on the roof of his car and by the time we got in touch with him, he was miles away and the $200+ key was lost!
Then, Ace Ford told me, "Sorry, warranty expired," and gave me an 800 number for Ford in Detroit. Of course, I've gotten no response there. I drove all the way home to get the only spare key I have to get the vehicle back home, where it now sits indefinitely because I don't have $3500 to fix it. So, a middle class family in a tough economy gets left holding the bag because two separate billion-dollar entities in this country, who I have paid over $40,000 in the last 5 years are using "technicalities" to screw me. My son also had powder burns and said his ears were ringing because the sound of the deployment was deafening. His neck hurt too, but at the time he didn't feel it was something he could afford to have looked at being he is one of the many Americans without health insurance. I am just disgusted with the whole thing.

I was heading to South Lake Tahoe with my 13 year old daughter and her friend for dance class. It was about 8:30 am and starting to storm. I was driving about 40 mph ten miles under the speed limit because of the weather. Suddenly as I was coming around a corner I hit black ice and my back tires slid out to the side a little. I took my foot off gas immediately. My car started sliding side to side and there was no controlling it. We started sliding towards the cement divider and I warned the girls we were going to hit. We did, head on and then my front end slid across the cement divider and stopped facing the on coming traffic. We were going aprx. 40 miles per hour and we hit hard and head on.
As we came to a stop I checked the kids to make sure they were ok. They were just scared and the wind knocked out of them along with whip lash. Then I realized the air bags had not gone off. I was shocked! It scared me to think of how hard we hit and the air bags did not go off. We hit a cement wall! I did not know I had a shut off to my gas when you are in a accident. I sat there praying that we would not be hit. Finally a man pulled over and flagged people down around the corner so we wouldn't be hit. My husband told me about the shut off valve when I reached him by phone.
So I hit hard enough to leave a bruise on chest from seat belt and for the shut off valve of gas to engine but my air bags did not go off. As of now they are fixing my car and I am very concerned if we are in another accident the air bags will not work again. So are they defective? How do I know for sure? The dealer fixing my car said everything around the air bag sensors were shattered but the air bags did not go off. Very worried. Thank You for listening.

I was driving home from work. As I was driving up the on-ramp on the freeway, the traffic ahead of me stopped, so I stopped. The truck behind me did NOT stop. I saw him in my mirror, so I pulled to the right a little. He hit the rear driver side of my 2002 Ford Escape, causing my Escape to roll off the embankment. I rolled 1 1/2 times landing on the roof. When I bought the Escape, I was told that it had front, rear and side airbags. Not one of the airbags deployed during my accident!!!! I asked the Ford dealer where I bought it from why they didn't deploy, and was told that I wasn't hit hard enough. I was stopped, the guy that hit me was going 50 to 55 mph when he hit me, and that wasn't hard enough? Sounds like ** to me.

Me and my husband were on our way home from my work at 2 am. We came around the corner of what, to us, is a main road, at 55 mph, and there he was, a big buck. There was no missing him and it was done. Well, we hit him on the passenger side; he flipped under, busting the carriage and leaving us in the middle of the road...but what bothers me most was he knocked out everything, from the middle of the front of the van, all the way over to the far right light and the passenger door. I was scared to death and could not even get my door open without help.
He did damage to the point we had to be towed because the van would not run. At 55 mph and a buck, the airbags on the passenger side never came out? Is this thing going to just come out whenever it's ready? My brother hit a doe just a few weeks ago and all on the passenger side, and nothing??? What the **, do we have to really be hit to be safe? We pay extra for this, and it's like we are worse off, never knowing when it will really go off. We have a nine-year-old; is it just going to go off and hurt her out of the blue??? I'm really concerned.

My 5.4L Ford F250 blew a spark plug while on the rd. It was an OE Ford plug that had never been changed. My truck then caught fire with my newborn baby in the back seat. It was a hairy moment to say the least. I was told it caught fire due to fuel vapor coming out of the hole and hitting the spark plug. I think Ford is putting people's lives at risk all over money and not wanting to pay, and something needs to be done about it.

Nice. I just had my front spring break. Brand new tire to shreds. I blamed my daughter for hitting something. Now, I see there's a big problem after reading hundreds of others with the same problem. Ford bites. Never again. I will go back to Toyota and Honda. Let Ford fail. Why should we pay out billions to have these guys stay in business to put our lives on the line with this junk?

I went to back up my 2002 Ford Taurus with about 119,000 miles on it in my driveway. I heard a loud bang and stopped the car (traveled 10 feet). I got out and found that I had 2 flat front tires. I called AAA to have the car towed and the tires repaired or replaced. The tow truck operator told me it was not my tires that were the problem, even though they were flat. He showed me that both of my front springs had broken in half and punctured my tires. I had it towed to a local Monro Muffler Shop. The mechanic stated that not only were the springs and tires destroyed, the springs had also ruined the steering linkage and tie rods. The total of all of these repairs was about $1,300.
I called Ford's National Customer Service line (800 number) to find out if there was any remedy for this since it is obviously a common and recurring problem that they have not fixed despite the recall on their 1999-2001 Taurus models. I am especially concerned because this problem can cause a serious accident, injury and death and is a dangerous safety risk. I normally drive 50 miles to work each day on an Interstate Highway at 65-70 mph. Had this occurred during one of these trips, I and others could easily have been seriously hurt or killed. As stated above, I had to have about $1,300 in repairs made due to Ford's faulty parts and design. Thank God no injuries since the problem occurred in my driveway.

I was in a new city and was not aware of the street signs. I did not notice a stop sign and ran into another car and then hit a post. My impact was hard enough that my car may be a total loss. But my airbag never came out and I ended up hitting my chest against the steering wheel. Luckily, I was okay. My chest was a little sore but I did not see a doctor. It is scary to know that I would need a bigger impact than that to have my airbag work.

On November 8, 2008, my husband swerved to miss a cow on a dirt road behind our house. When he did, the back tire of his 2005 F250 must have caught the slightly wet grass. They then began to flip side over side and hit a ravine and flipped end over end clear into the middle of a pasture. His arm was under the truck somehow and his friend was on top of him. He managed to pull his arm out somehow and they got to the ER. When I went to look at the truck, we noticed No Airbags Deployed. They didn't even try to deploy! I called Ford Motor and they really didn't seem to care. They said you will receive a written letter in about 10 days. He cannot work for at least 3 months.

Driving my 2003 Expedition on a street in Riverside about 30 mph, my side airbags deployed for no reason. I took it to Ford and they said not their problem. State Farm said that there was no collision or vandalism so they're not liable. I did nothing wrong. Now I have a truck with 4300 dollars in damages and no help. You think Ford would want to find out what happened because of safety. Somebody could have gotten hurt or killed when they went off. When I bought this truck, I paid extra for that safety for my family. Please reply.
