Dodge Journey extended warranty coverage options

Stellantis offers its official extended car warranty through Mopar. FlexCare is available for up to eight years and 125,000 miles. Extended warranties offer protection for covered repairs after a vehicle’s factory warranty expires.

This official Dodge extended warranty guarantees repairs using factory-backed parts by certified technicians. FlexCare is honored at Dodge dealerships, as well as participating Chrysler, Jeep, Ram and Fiat dealerships in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Three types of vehicles are eligible for a FlexCare extended warranty:

    • New vehicles with fewer than 36,000 miles and within three years of the warranty start date
    • Certified pre-owned vehicles with fewer than 75,000 miles and an active CPO limited warranty
    • Traditional vehicles no more than 10 model years old with under 150,000 miles, or under 125,000 miles with a manufacturer's five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.

New Dodge Journeys are no longer being made, but your used or CPO Journey may be eligible for an extended warranty. Be prepared for a dealer vehicle inspection to ensure eligibility, and save all receipts and work orders in case they are needed later.

Further details about owner requirements can be found in your owner’s manual and warranty guide.

Dodge Journey extended warranty plans compared

The original Dodge auto warranty is a bumper-to-bumper warranty, and the extended warranty is similar in its coverage. You can choose a deductible of $0, $100 or $200.

    • Extended Care: Covers core components such as engine, transmission, driveline, steering and air conditioning
    • Extended Care Plus: Mechanical repair coverage for more than 800 components
    • Extended Care Premium: Mechanical repair coverage for more than 5,000 components

All plans include the following additional benefits for drivers:

Additional protection may be available, depending on your area. This can include:

    Optional coverage

You can customize your Dodge Journey extended warranty with several additional types of optional coverage.

    • FlexCare Vehicle Protection. This includes the Dodge Complete Performance Package for mechanical and wear coverage. Drivers also get to visit Radford Racing School for one day of high-performance driving.
    • FlexCare Advantage. This protects your vehicle’s mechanical components with coverage lasting until your vehicle is 15 years old or reaches 160,000 miles. Your Dodge Journey must be 11 years old or newer with fewer than 140,000 miles.

    Dodge Journey extended warranty cost

The cost of a Dodge Journey extended warranty can vary significantly, depending on factors such as the vehicle’s age and mileage, the plan you choose and your deductible.

With such wide-ranging coverage, the price you pay depends on the options you choose. Talk to your local authorized dealer or call 1-866-818-9929 to ask about plan options and purchase coverage. You may also see if third-party extended car warranty companies offer plans for the Dodge Journey, and explore their coverage options and rates.

    Transferring your plan

A Dodge Journey extended warranty is transferable. If you sell your car, the buyer has the option to benefit from the duration of your plan. This, in turn, increases your vehicle's value. Note that a $50 transfer fee may apply in some states.

    Canceling your plan

You also have the option to cancel your Dodge Journey extended warranty. There is no penalty to do so, but you must file an official request. A prorated refund may be available, depending on your case.

Is a Dodge Journey extended warranty worth it?

A Dodge Journey extended warranty requires an initial investment, but it may be worth it if it helps you save money down the road. There’s never a guarantee that an extended warranty will be worth the investment, but it could be worth it if you value the peace of mind that comes from protection as your Journey gets older.

    Average Dodge Journey repair costs

The average Dodge Journey costs $562 in repairs per year, according to RepairPal. The table below looks at common repair costs.

It’s important to weigh the cost of repairs against the cost of a warranty. The additional benefit of a plan transfer or cancellation option is an extra convenience that makes a Dodge Journey extended warranty worth it for many owners.

Before buying an extended warranty plan, be sure to carefully review the terms and conditions to ensure it’s the right fit for you.
