I purchased DieHard car batteries for decades and never any problems. Purchased a Gold DieHard on 4-2-24. It failed today 4-14-24. Initially I had reservations as hydrometer test showed nearly red zone. I should have returned to the parts store then. I have from the beginning used hydrometer testing for decades finding it reliable. This new defective battery replaced a 5 year 7 month old DieHard bought in 2018. Fortunately I had not given up the old one to get core charge refund. This old one was made by Johnson Controls before they sold the battery division to Clarios. I blame Clarios. I decided not to return the item and battle the parts store as its rep for customer service is very mixed. This is a CLARIOS' problem. So now I will purchase a 3 year Walmart battery also made by Clarios. Fingers crossed.

Battery lasted less than 1 year. Charged it once 3 months after I bought it and the charge held for a few months. Then, it would not charge or work with a jump start. Took it to an auto part store to test, and it was dead. Piece of junk. Never again.

I am on my first warranty replacement Diehard battery and it just died, so when I replace it tonight, that will make 3 batteries in three months. No warning, worked fine last night, dead this morning. I wish I had read the reviews instead of trusting the brand name. Like Craftsman tools, quality is a distant memory for these brand names.

I bought this battery a few months ago because the battery was bad in a used car I bought. The car started 3 times, then shut off and I had to mess with the battery wires to get the car to start again. I thought it was bad ground in the car, so I sold it and bought another car, and it had the same problem. I realized it was this battery, and I am never buying a Diehard battery again.

Since 2015 it has been my experience that vehicle batteries from Advance Auto (Die Hard battery label) have have demonstrated lower reserve capacity and higher internal resistance compared to previous years. Please check with Consumer Reports on vehicle battery performance in their life testing. Being a retired engineer and scientist I do have extensive equipment for vehicle battery testing, including calibrated internal resistance milliohm meter equipment and carbon pile load testers, as well as recording voltmeter equipment than can measure 1 millisecond transients.
An AGM battery purchased from Advance Auto failed in two years, Consumer Reports found that the same battery would not pass standard life testing. Advance replaced the battery under warranty. In another vehicle (2001 Trans Am Formula) new batteries from Advance Auto would not crank the engine as well as new batteries of the same ratings and Group number from another manufacturer. Alternator output voltage with Advance Auto batteries tends to be higher for longer compared to the same battery Group number from another battery manufacturer (this is not good).
In my opinion, VAVE and VEVA activity (manufacturing cost reductions) in the manufacturing of Die Hard batteries have been taken to the limit that will likely result in reduced reserve capacity and minimal reliability performance in high current demand applications such as V8 engine applications. I no longer purchase Die Hard vehicle batteries as their cost versus performance and lower reliability, in my opinion, is very high, compared to other vehicle battery manufacturers. Please research vehicle batteries in Consumer Reports and flooded lead acid battery design technical documents for your own edification. It is most important to understand why heavier batteries of the same group number and lower internal resistance typically indicates longer battery life.

I purchased a DieHard battery from Advance Auto Parts in January 2021. I live in Tucson so cold weather is not a factor. It lasted three months. I took it and had a bad cell. Three months later, the new battery did the same thing. Every time they check my alternator everything is good. It’s a bad battery cell. Employee and Advance told me that they got a bad batch of DieHard batteries. I don’t understand why then they’re still selling them and replacing the bad batteries with another bad battery. Here it is November 2023. My warranty is expired and yet again the battery's no good. Will never purchase another DieHard or even purchase from Advance Auto Parts again. Apparently they now own Diehard! Just seems to me that the warranty should go from the last battery installed! Ticked off in Tucson!

I purchased a Diehard Gold battery for our 2001 Saturn on 4/3/2023. On 10/23/2023, it failed. A load test confirmed it was bad. There are few options when away from home, including trying to deal with a warranty, so it has a new Interstate battery now. I just took the car in to make sure that the charging circuit is OK, which it is. I've had many Diehard batteries since the 1960s, but this experience, along with many reviews I've seen, have convinced me that their quality has suffered a lot in recent years. It only takes one incident like this while out on the road to erase any brand loyalty.

Purchased a Silver level DieHard battery on 7/29/21 which comes with a 2 year replacement warranty. In Jan. 2023 the battery died and was replaced with a new one. Today...August 6, 2023...the battery installed in Jan...only 7 months old...failed and I was told because the warranty only ran until 7/29/2023...2 weeks ago. How ridiculous is that? The battery was only 7 months old and they wanted me to pay full price for another just like it. DieHard was a premium quality battery when it was rep'd by Sears. Today they are junk. Why would I even consider another one?

I purchased a DieHard battery a year ago. Worked fine for everyday use. But now I have a company vehicle. I only drive my personal vehicle on the weekends. Every single time I go to start it, dead battery. I have checked and I don't have a drain. I also checked the alternator and it's good, just a crappy battery. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND anybody to purchase one. Die hard. More like die fast.

My recent DieHard battery died in exactly two years. Suspicious to me, as my batteries always last 4-6 years. I only start the car an average of maybe 3.5 times a day. The battery was replaced under warranty, but if the next one lasts only two years, then I still haven't reached the lifespan of one good battery. Those batteries that lasted 4-6 years? Many DieHards! What's going on? A mechanic informed me that DieHard is not good anymore since Sears "died." Looked into it further. Advance Auto Parts acquired the DieHard brand on 12/23/2019. From then to the time of this review, all three reviews on ConsumerAffairs were one star. I will not be that harsh. I feel three stars is fair for two years. I simply hope DieHard and Advance Auto see these reviews, and will strive to improve upon their quickly diminishing reputation. Advance Auto, be better please! A Concerned Consumer

I bought a Platinum DieHard battery in March 2022. It worked great for about two months. Then it would not hold a charge. I took it back to advanced auto where I purchased it. The guy gives me a replacement but gives me a gold instead of platinum like I exchanged. Less than a month later I had to charge the battery. I checked my alternator and for anything on that would cause it to drain and nothing was wrong with my truck. After charging the battery it worked for about three weeks then it was dead again. I tried to charge it and it would not connect to the charger so I bought a new charger same issue. Took the battery to advanced auto and they could not get it to connect to test it. I asked to exchange it and was informed you can only exchange it once. No prorated no nothing. Just buy another battery. Diehard used to stand behind their batteries. Now they are owned and made by advanced auto. DO NOT BUY DIEHARD BATTERIES.

Bought a diehard silver battery in March of 2022. In August off 2022 the battery will not hold a charge. Alternator and starter are good. Took it back to place of purchase and they said all was good with battery. Wasn’t even 24 hours and it was dead again. They finally replaced it with hesitation and coming up with that maybe I left lights on or I have a bad alternator/starter. Mind you there is a 24 month warranty on it and I have no other issues with my car.

Based on supposed reviews I had Die Hard battery installed in my car on November 13th. It was a Silver Series 86-1. The very next day the car would not start without a jump. After no help from the mechanic who did the installation I finally opted to take the car to the dealer. They did a complete system electrical check and the end result was the battery had a dead cell. At the time of the check the battery showed 10.2 volts. I had the dealer install a battery and the problem was corrected. It appears that quality control has become less important than satisfying a customer who was inconvenienced greatly. Die Hard was a Great name back in the Sears Days, sadly that time is gone.

I just replaced my Die Hard Battery today with another Die Hard Battery that I got from Sears. When I asked the clerk when the original one was purchased it was 2011. Incredible that this battery lasted 8 years of hard miles and driving on my car. Even when I turned in the battery it was holding 13volts and still capable of starting the vehicle but unfortunately its cranking power had eventually diminished and it didn't always start my car in the end. It truly lived up to its name of "Die Hard". It NEVER left me stranded, NEVER needed a jump in all the years I had it. It always brought me home. The funny part is that the clerk also told me how long the battery I had before that one lasted and it was 6 years. Go figure 6 years on the first and 8 years on my second Die Hard. These people really know how to make a battery.

As a loyal Die Hard fan, I purchased the newest gold DieHard only to have it die in 3 months. There are numerous better batteries on the market which stand behind their warranty...

Original store where battery purchased no record of transaction. No recourse. DieHard Gold battery DEAD after 4 months!

DieHard was the last battery I ever did have to buy again as I never had any problems with the car after I put a DieHard in it. This was the first time getting a DieHard battery and it was the most reasonable battery I could get. The guy also said it was the best there was, and I took him at his word. And it was the best battery that I have ever bought. It was maintenance from, easy to install and it did the job. But they could lower the price and make it to last longer.

Diehard is a brand we have always trusted. We have many classic cars in which we use these batteries and the fact that the cars sit for a very long time and the battery holds charge is a comfort. And in the event the battery is sluggish, it charges up with no problems. I like the easy warranty. Due to the cars that we use the batteries in being stored primarily, on rare occasion the battery must be replaced. Yet we never have any issues with the warranty. DieHard Batteries perform to my husband's standards.

I am completely satisfied with the quality and excellent performance of DieHard batteries. I have used this brand for years and this is why I always choose this exceptional brand. I like how easily I can install the batteries myself. I have also had a technician replace my DieHard battery in their automotive shop and I've always been recommended DieHard batteries from automotive specialists as well as friends and family. The only negative thing I can come up with is the price of the batteries. Sometimes I have considered going with another quality brand but always ended up buying DieHard in the end. I feel like even though the price of the batteries may be a little more than other quality brands it's worth the extra expense.

The battery works great and I'm happy with it so far. I have had the battery for almost a year now and it hasn't died yet. I like that it has lived up to its name. Example, my three-year-old had turn the lights on in the inside of my truck without me knowing and overnight they stayed on. The next morning when I went to the store I noticed that the lights were on. I turned them off then let battery rest for about 15 minutes and then the truck cranked up right away. The battery didn't hesitate. If the door stays open or if the lights stay on in the vehicle overnight with other batteries it would more likely die and then I would have to get my cables to recharge it but with this battery I don't have to worry about it. The battery is just a little heavy.

Diehard batteries are the best for providing cranking power in adverse conditions, when it gets really cold a generic battery is not going to do it. I can trust Diehard to start every time. They tend to hold a charge better than some store brand batteries. Also, their price is competitive with other national brands. Excellent product for the money.

The DieHard battery is a very reliable battery with a very good warranty. Plus I feel that it is also very strong with a brand that you can trust. Also was referred by family and friends. I am very excited that I decided to pursue the DieHard battery. They take the worry out of going out on cold weather mornings. I also like how durable the battery looks and build.
I like the amount of cold cranking amps. This is especially good doing weather months. Also it has a nice contact size, easy to handle, easy to install with little effort. This very good that I feel even a woman could manage to remove the old battery and replace it with the DieHard battery. I will recommend the product to everyone that I can and ensure that everyone in my family would have this DieHard battery is installed in everyone's cars and pickup trucks. I have had one before and I am really pleased to have purchased this particular battery.

I have had very good luck with the DieHard battery. They are very long lasting and outlasted the cars that they were installed in. It was the first battery that I bought that did not require water. It started up with lots of power. Of all of the batteries that I have used this was the most reliable - most worry free and always gave me great performance. The DieHard battery worked thru different kinds of weather. Once I thought my battery was dead - had the battery for 75 thousand miles - all that was wrong was the cable had to be cleaned. The battery ran for another 10 thousand miles. It's a great battery as is. I have used other batteries that have not held up as much as the DieHard. I had one that actually exploded. That is why that I have always depended on DieHard.

DieHard Batteries start up right away. Durable in the rain and snow. Easy to install and comes with a extended warranty if anything happens to it. Bought it from Sears and it was worth the price. Easy to hook up jumper cables to it. This battery brand lasts longer than other brands. Has more durable outer coating. More retailers should sell it. But DieHard should offer a discount more often and issue coupons. Also, offer a free lifetime warranty if quits working or breaks, and a free battery check at every retailer that sells it and give a rebate if turn old one in.
