I used Cars.com once, found a Jetta, happy-ending. Now, your website/filters are ridiculous. Did your web group do it on purpose. Ready to buy a 40k car, and find your site impossible to use. Have the owners ever, genuinely, tried it?

I went to see a car that was listed on Cars.com. I made an appointment to look at the car. When I got there they could not locate the car. I was called a few hours later stating that the owner took the car to another state???? I went back on the site and noticed the car was listed at a lower price. The mileage was still marked as the previous. I made another appointment to see the car. I was told it now has 2,000 more miles than stated. The salesperson also stated that someone has put a deposit down on the car. I then decided that I would place a deposit down to hold the car. Only for 48 hours. I was told that I would not be getting back the full deposit. They take 4%. The cost shown for the car also is 2500 more than stated. I then decided not to take the car. Went back on the site and notice it is now even lower priced than before????

Terrible! They give you a price to buy your car, then try to chisel it down to nothing when you get to the dealer. The dealer they sent me to gave me the lowest price of anybody else on earth. Do not trust them!!!

Cars dot com, are not credible. They sent me an offer for $3025, I go to the dealer and they offered $2000. Thanks for nothing. The guy hemmed and hawed and said they were searching for a buyer on their computers-I thought they were the buyer!

I wish I had come across this review site before I bought an ad on Cars.com to sell my car because I got the impression they were steering me toward accepting lowball offers from dealers instead of generating legitimate leads from individuals. In my experience with other listing sites, I typically receive numerous inquiries when the listing is fresh, then dwindling down as time goes on, but not with Cars.com, just the opposite. I got one legitimate lead three days before the listing expired, and sold the car to that person at a reduced price.

I have used car dealer in Los Angeles, CA. I work with Cars.com for more than 10 years and never have any issue. From 4 months ago half of my inventory was not inline or online without pictures. I contact my rep Allen and request for adjustment on my bill. She was like, "No I cannot adjust the bill." Then my bill from $900.00 jump to $1350.00. I call again and she said, "If you sign the new contract we bring it down to $1000.00." We agree on that. And we adjust the bill on next month. She never send me any new contract and I call her again.
She said she will do it and she will have approval from her manager. I was like, "You said you have approval that way we agree." She said no and she will call me back. Again she didn't and when I called her she was like I send new contract but I can't adjust the previous months. I was like, "No this is not accepted and I need to talk to your manager. It's not my fault you didn't your job and play around." She said, "Ok I ask my manager to call me." They never did until last week someone called and he said he is her manager, also my new account manager. I told him all story and I have her phone record. He said, "Sorry, she is promoted and she never told me to call you. Anyway I can't give you any adjustment on your inventory not shows online and also I don't know how she give you discount. But if you sign the new contract I can agree on $1000.00 but I can not adjust previous months."
I didn't agree. I don't let anyone take advantage or play game with me. I don't play game and not let them to play. I forward all record to my credit card company and they hold all bills from the month we have issue and they charge me extra without my signature and approved on new price. I don't like to deal with liars and non- honest company.

I submitted my auto for an instant offer 11/8/23, but received an automated email from the dealer that was supposed to buy my car, about me buying one of their cars. (vs the other way around) Submitted again after 1st offer expired and the same dealer never bother to contact me a second time. After first incident Cars.com said, contact them yourself. After my second "instant offer" I did just that and couldn't get through to anyone 4 different times and extensions. This entire experience feels like one giant SCAM! Highly suspicious of them and their affiliate dealers and their practices.

I just bought a laser blue Mini Cooper S. 88 000. miles. I punched in my Vin and this automated lying machine said it had 97 000 miles. So there is lie #1. Second was my car if fully optioned to the gills. No broken plastic dings dents or any rips or tears. They valued it at 1800 to 3600? Are you complete scammers or what? I just bought it last month. Mileage fully documented. So even online the dealership is lying. This is why I only buy from owners. Not parasitic habitual scam artists. I'm not selling it anyways. I'm just goofing around. Sorry, we're not all broke and hard up to take your abusive business practices.

Cars.com misleads (lies to) customers by telling them that their "Autocheck" mileage is much greater than actual. My truck has 17,212 miles on it. I'm the original owner. When I entered the actual mileage, Cars.com responded with an error message that the actual reported autocheck mileage was 74,000. Absolutely not true. They also gave me by far the lowest value for my truck, by over $5000.

Cars.com has very poor customer service and generates very few good leads. We ran into several issues where deleted/sold vehicles would show back up for sale on their website out of the blue. We could not see them, remove them, or delete them from the backend where we have previously marked them sold. All requests to have them removed were ignored. This created confusion and made some customers angry.

The prices in car sale posts made by private sellers o this platform are unfairly labeled as worse than identical cars with more mileage posted by dealers. My car at $65.5K and 20,100 miles is labeled as only a "good deal $731 under", while $69K car with 29K miles and $65.5K car with 25K miles are labeled as "GREAT DEAL $$$KKK under". This is an unfair advertising policy targeted to promote dealers who pay fees for their membership and posts, vs. private sellers who don't. #unfairpolicy #unfaircompetition #unfairdeceptivepractices

I have a dealership and I wanted to post my vehicles on their website. They said it's free, then I posted two vehicles and they said it's under review and within 24 hours it should be posted. Since that time my postings are not posted and they sending me advertisements of other vehicles. This means they are only trying to get people's emails addresses for their own benefit.

While the support staff was helpful I sold my car on FACEBOOK Marketplace for free. I didn’t even get close to a sale here. Hmmm Wonder if I’ll use them again…Somewhat doubtful, maybe. Furthermore, and my primary complaint, is they are rife with scammers and tire kickers. I probably experienced 3 scam attempts for every legitimate interest. To be fair Cars.com anti scam department quickly helped me with them but still. Why sell here only to set yourself up as a target to a bunch of lowlife pond scum sucker scam artists?

I like the filters but wish they would add a filter for cars that have a clean title, salvage title, or are totalled.. Too many cars being sold on this site that are wrecked or salvaged and you have to investigate. It use to be a much higher quality car website.

I found the car I wanted on here. I purchased directly through the dealership after seeing it on cars.com. The pictures were very nice. I didn't have any problems getting in touch with the dealership afterwards. I would recommend this site to other car shoppers out there.

I’m a dealer in Oklahoma. I signed up for Cars.com for 4 month starter and as told multiple times I could cancel after 4 months. I only posted 3 cars and they would not allow me cancel. This company is filled with liars and cheats. I was lied to multiple times and my issues were never resolved. This company will scam you out of money just like they did my business. Watch out and look elsewhere.

I purchased a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek in good faith that would be the color that was advertised. It was supposed to be blue even though every photo of it appeared to purple. I was very clear that I didn't want a black vehicle. Once it was delivered, I noticed it was black. I paid to have it inspected at the Subaru dealership and discovered it needed $1300 worth of repair for break pads, rotors, air filters, the correct wiper blades, etc. They paid for the repairs but never once tried to make things right for fraudulently advertising this vehicle as the wrong color. I will never purchase a car online again.

I listed my car on Cars.com in December. I got a couple of messages but no sale yet so in January I went to renew the listing and was told they no longer allow private listings?? This was annoying enough by itself as it was not communicated to me at all while I painstakingly set up and ran my ad. So I asked a chat rep, they explained it was a new policy and I was obviously frustrated & asked "what the -- for?"
Their response was "I'd tell you but you swore at me"... obviously I swore in frustration at the company, not the rep. This was a petty, terrible response. Cars.com has moved on from caring about individuals with NO explanation. Because of this, I will not be using the site to shop anymore and I hope dealerships will notice that.

After going through the whole process of signing up, giving them the VIN and all the car details plus the CC# and then OKing the listing, I hit the LIST button. And got the verification email. The next day I went back to update the photos and was not able to edit the listing so I went to a live chat. Only to be told that Cars.Com had decided to not list private ownership cars at this time. My car had never been listed. Their policy, I found out had been in affect (effect?) for a while. The Chat person said "Sorry, anything else I can help you with?" I inquired about my personal info and CC# only to be met with silence. I then went to the site and yes, they are asking people to Sell Your Car. I was able to delete my listing.

Posted my car and it didn't accept all of my photos then wouldn't allow me to delete or upload new ones. Contacted customer service and Mr. ** was completely unhelpful. He ended my contact while I still needed help and had a question to be answered telling me to delete my ad if I didn't like it. I paid to be insulted by some guy making minimum wage. Not worth your time or money to deal with this scam of a site.

I purchased a car from a private seller last month and basically buying my first car I was excited. Come to find out the seller wasn’t honest at all about the car on his profile or in person. He said nothing was wrong with the car and I test drove it and everything. I asked him again, "Is the engine transmission etc. good?" He said, "Yes no problems." I said, "Okay." We continued or transaction and I got the title and left. The very next day the car started shaking and everything so had it checked out. Come to find out the tires was balding on the side I couldn’t see. That was $420 for one tire.
Week later had to get a new water pump for $1,800. I emailed the seller. He said it’s not his problem then next an oil change so this time I’m pissed off. Emailed him again. He said we will meet in a few days and he was going to give me $2,500 back and he disappeared. I contacted Cars.com twice and no reply back. Not a email or call. I've had the car since August 14th and made several repairs. My car is currently in the shop because the transmission was slipping and the computer went out. This is what I call horrible business. Now I’m stuck with this car that I paid $9000 for in cash but spent about that much just in repairs alone.

Shopping for a car from this website is very easy, this website is Super User friendly. I use to go to other random website to see cars, but not all of them were good because there's always a scam situation. With Cars.com there is no worries. The details of the car is very easy to understand and you can always filter out the things you need or don't need. Very simple and easy.

Great page with a lot of options for sorting. Really great experience but you should not let seller put call for price as it annoying if I like car to call for price. Otherwise great web page. Good quality and have great availability for search on different makes and models. Really like of the price rating helps a lot.
