Senior living listings on Caring.com

Caring.com’s website gives caregivers a broad overview of their senior living options. The company publishes reports on the best and worst senior living communities and provides information on different types of senior living arrangements.

  • Assisted living is for older adults who need low or moderate levels of assistance. These facilities provide help with daily living, including housekeeping services and medication management. Assisted living facilities strive to provide an environment that feels like home, and the average cost to live in one is around $4,000 per month.
  • Independent living is for seniors who are more self-sufficient and still able to lead an active and independent lifestyle. This is a popular option for seniors who want to maintain their independence and do not need assistance with daily tasks but want to be part of a community and have access to amenities like fitness centers, pools and resident lounges. The average cost for independent living facilities is between $1,500 and $6,000 a month.
  • Nursing homes are for those who need 24/7 care. These facilities take care of the medical and physical needs of their residents and help them with basic tasks like feeding, bathing and medication management. The average cost for a room in a nursing home is around $7,500 a month.

Caring.com cost

Caring.com is a free resource for seniors and caregivers. There is no cost to access the website and no need for individuals to pay for an account. Caring.com makes its money through referrals to senior care communities, strategic partnerships and other sponsorships. These multiple streams of income allow Caring.com to offer all of its resources and guides at no cost to you.

Caring.com gives caregivers access to detailed cost information, photos for assisted living facilities and resources to help find private and government programs to assist with the cost of senior care.

This company when you use their website is taking your information and sharing it with every care facility in your area for the purposes of obtaining a referral fee. My dementia specialist has worked very hard to help my spouse and set things in line for a placement. To our surprise each facility we contacted said Caring com was entitled to a referral. They haven't done anything to help my spouse find a facility, but they want to lay claim to a referral fee.

It's free and optional to use our services to find local memory care communities. We contact people who submit their info to request our referral help, and typically we don't make that referral with 100% of senior living communities in the area (we instead match to the person's needs and interests). We obtain consent for referrals made. Please contact community@caring.com so we can find your specific referral record, revisit the phone consult and resend which communities you were connected with.

As an assisted living owner, I am disappointed with Caring.com. Most referral agencies make money when someone moves into the community. That is how it was when I first worked with Caring.com. Then, the greedy company changed its policy. Now, facilities must pay a yearly fee whether we get a successful move-in or not. This has opened their door to sending multiple, low quality leads that are virtually useless. I was a fool and paid a high fee for three years in a row! I did not get one resident move-in in that entire time. I work with other referral companies that actually send legitimate leads that actually turn into customers. These agencies only charge after a new resident moves in. Shame, shame, shame on (not) Caring.com.

Thanks for your message about the digital marketing services previously provided to your Florida-based residential care home (cancelled in Dec.2025). We offer a variety of accounts and services; some assisted living communities continue to have successful cost-per-acquisition referral relationships with us; some smaller homes are now on subscription-based contracts. We emailed and called you to discuss your billing concerns, account feedback, and referrals; we were unsuccessful in reaching you.

I was really hoping that this would help my small home healthcare agency get clients as promised by this business. Unfortunately, every referral was a dead lead, and only one person responded and was angry that we called. This was a total waste of our time and money. Use this at your own risk.

We aim to provide a quality experience for our agency partners. While we don't promise or guarantee new clients for every agency partner, we do connect in-market care seekers to local agencies, and we support agencies in their digital marketing (incl. info on speed-to-lead, sales best practices, online reputation, and other ways to better compete and convert). Did you contact our support team to take advantage of the lead QA process? Refunds are issued for invalid leads. hc_helpdesk@caring.com

Received the file. A phone call was told completely incorrect information about Medicaid. These people do not know anything about Medicaid laws. They only accept private pay cash only. Don’t bother calling them. They’re rude. They don’t have any idea what they’re talking about. They’re unapologetic and they only want your cash. They do not help people who need Medicaid pay or Medicaid spend down. They only handle private pay. They do not say that upfront and they wasted 20 to 30 minutes of my time. This company sucks. Don’t bother calling them.

Sorry to hear about what you described. Caring.com doesn't charge seniors and their families for our referral services (we don't collect cash from consumers as referenced in your review). We think your review may be misplaced or intended for a different company. If you need help with Caring.com's free referral services or would like to give feedback about a referral agent who tried to help you find local low-income resources, please contact community@caring.com. Inadvertently gave them my contact info, it looked like a facility website. I received a call from a salesman, that's not what they call them but that's what they act like, and after answering several basic profile questions I was asked the financial questions. As soon as he heard we don't have family who is able to pay for long term care and only own one house, he said he would give me a number to call for help in my area. I said I was already in contact with the Area Agency on Aging but I would look into other agencies, he gave me the number for....You guessed it, the Area Agency on Aging.

I live in a rural area that has lost medical services since July 2025 and one of those services is geriatric social workers. The social worker is the person who knows which long term care facility has what services are available, what paperwork is necessary, what the financial costs are and what insurance is accepted. They have information that people outside the profession don't and they help make it easier to make sure your loved one gets the appropriate care. According to the Caring dot com website that's basically what they do except that they don't. If you don't have the insurance or finances to pay out of pocket, don't bother contacting them. It's a waste of time that's better used anywhere else.

Thanks for this review! We were unable to locate a referral record for you, and invited you to contact community@caring.com for further support. We also have another website, PayingforSeniorCare.com that may be helpful to you, and we refer to in-home care as well. Our Family Advisors have info about communities in our partner network, can schedule tours, and can refer seniors and their families when matched to the offering of the community — at no charge to you.

Don't waste your time with Caring.com. They are persistent and they will keep calling you once they have your information. I contacted them for my 81 years old father, after verifying that he does not own a property, does not have a big bank balance, all they did is send me an email with a website that looked like it was there just to gather information on you. As soon as they know your loved one does not own a property or have a big bank balance, they are not interested in helping you. Such a shame in the name of helping seniors.

Thanks for your feedback. We honor the communication preferences of individuals who've submitted a request for referral to senior living communities or senior care agencies. We don't require an individual to own a property nor limit access to our services based on income. If we're unable to provide a senior living community match due to the searcher's budget, needs and other factors, we suggest alternative resources (as was done for you). For further help, please contact community@caring.com.

I hope this goes through because it's factually correct and will save others time. After being cut off while being on hold... I was informed that what they could offer was much more than I even receive on my Social Security. I can't share all the details or it won't be used. A shame that freedom of speech is non existent. I'll check back to see because I have to leave out many pertinent details. IT WASN'T GOOD!

I recently went to this place looking for my mother. Boy what a difference they have made with the way things look in the last 6 months! They have completely renovated the campus. It looks so nice, and like a fine hotel. People there were friendly, said hello, and welcomed me in. I will definitely consider this place and can't wait to show my mom. She was hesitant at first, I think now she will reconsider! We have been invited to their Friday Happy hour next week. We look forward to going back.

I found Caring.com on Google. I was drawn in by their compassionate words and promises. When a gentleman called me this morning, he was so polite and sounded caring. He asked my mom's name and then asked for her income information. When I told him that she receives a small retirement and social security (he insisted on exact amounts), he then asked if she or loved ones had a house to sell or savings, etc. When I said no, that my husband and I could help out with a little bit per month, he abruptly said, "We can't help you", and hung up on me!!!! This is neither caring nor compassionate! He could have at least said something like, "I'm sorry, but your mom doesn't have the financial resources for our help"!! Their "we care about you" is a lie...they care about your money and only that. As I said, there was a much more polite way for him to let me know that they couldn't help my mom.

Caring.com’s site reviews are far from objective. If you submit a negative review about a senior facility it will be rejected. Why? Because it is funded by the very money hungry senior care industry while masquerading as a site to assist consumers. It’s owned by Bankrate. Now please tell me why it is interested in assisted in seniors and their families finding quality care. Follow the money. Really disgusting.
