GE Ice Dispensers Serve Up More Than Ice

GE appliances certainly have a knack for annoying their owners. Click on any of the categories to the right to see how. Running a close second to the appliances themselves are GE's service contracts.

Marlene of Frederick MD sums it up (4/6/01):
I purchased a new condo in Frederick which has all G.E. appliances. The washer tears up some of the clothes; the icemaker handle gets stuck and ice doesn't form properly; even though I paid for an upgrade on the refrigerator, it appears to be very cheaply made. The GE stove isn't much better; The whole top of the stove gets too hot to even touch during baking. The cooking grates get dirty very easily and have to be cleaned with a scouring pad, you can't just wipe them off. The GE drier adds mysterious lint to the clothes, I don't even know where it is coming from. It looks as though I will have to replace every GE applicance that I have. Did GE provide the lowest bid for the condos and in turn, to save money gave back the cheapest, most inefficient GE models they could find?
