Guillermo of Silverdale, WA October 21, 2009 Jiffy lube location is charging #36.99 for their "signature service" without asking me if they want it at check-in, despite me telling them at check-in that I want the basic oil change only. This happened on 2 different occasions. Eugene of Bend, OR October 13, 2009 Jiffy Lube are liars and thieves. I do all the mechanical work myself and told them only change the oil. Then they still checked transmission fluid, rear end fluid, ect. They then showed me a white piece of paper with dirty transmission fluid, metal flacks in the differential, ect... and said I needed to have them replace above fluids. The only problen was that I had just changed all the fluids. Went and did a double check when getting home and everything was still new condition. To be fair I had the same situation at most national oil change services, including Oil Can Henery's, ect... Paul of Lincolnwood, IL September 29, 2009 On Friday, September 11, 2009 I brought my vehicle in for Signature Service. The technician suggested replacing the PVC Valve and Air Filter. I agreed. As I was paying my bill, a technician asked if my Service Engine Soon light had been on before. I said it had not. After I paid, the technician got back into my car with an OBD scan tool. After 5 minutes, he pulled my car out of the service bay and sent me on my way. When I started my car that evening, the service engine light came on and has been on ever since. That weekend the car stalled at an intersection. None of these things had happened before this trip to Jiffy Lube. I brought the car back in on Monday. The tech told me that the error code was the "Pedal Position Sensor," and had nothing to do with anything they had done. He cleared the error, but it returned next time I started the car. I find it hard to believe that it is a coincidence that this error occurred at the same time my car was being worked on by a Jiffy Lube technician. I am now stuck with a 300 repair. I am also angry that at the time the error was discovered, the technician cleared it out and sent me on my way, rather than investigating and informing me of the nature of the error. I believe that Jiffy Lube is responsible for this and should pay the cost of repairing my the Pedal Position Sensor on my car. I filed this complaint with Jiffy Lube national customer service twice. After receiving no response, I called and was referred to Sal at the local franchise. I spoke to him on September 29. He told me that Jiffy Lube was not responsible and would not take any action in this matter. Ray of Mt Pleasant, SC September 22, 2009 I went in Saturday about 12:30 pm. When in line (three cars were there), I spoke to a young tech and told him that I just wanted an oil change and a new oil filter...nothing more. I said I'd like either 5w30 or 10w30 oil...not any upgraded or premium graded oil such as they added last time. (I have an 8cyl truck). My last oil change cost an outrageous 69.00 for that same thing. (6) qts of oil and a filter! No more I said...just do what I ask. He responded that they don't do that. I ask what he was talking about? He said they only offered "signature service" . I ask what that was and he said it "started" at 40.00 and went up from there.I said no...just a simple oil change and filter-he was NOT TO use anything but 5w30 oil at less than 4/t by their charts. They proceded to do exactly what they wanted anyway and when I ask what it cost they responded 69.97. AT that point the other tech came and told me there was no oil showing on the trucks dip-stick when I brought it in so they took the liberty of doing the higher cost service. I explained to him it was impossible.Amorning before (the 18th of Sept. @ 06:48am I had stopped at Exxon and bought (3) qts of oil and added them due to an engine service light that came on. I then checked that oil myself and it was full! (I have that receipt as well from Exxon-8.03) I further explained that my wife and I were just on the phone and she went to another Jiffy Lube nearer our home and got the same service on her Toyota Camry that I had originally ask for on my truck and using just (4)qts of the 5w30 oil @ 3.87 each plus a oil filter-she paid 39.15 for her oil change. A difference of over 26.82 for only two quarts difference in what we should have gotten! I ask for my 26.00 back and they declined and offered a 19.00 gift certificate off my next oil change! Then I declined saying I expected my total 26.00 back and they then decided to actually call the store and review the "Tapes" and investigate. They called back later and only offered 17.00 back. I declined and insisted the manager personally call me. He was to call today (Tuesday-09-22-09) and did not as of 2:16pm. I will next go get a small claims court action if nothing is done today! NEVER USE THESE BAIT AND SWITCH ARTISTS!!!! T of Playa Vista , CA September 14, 2009 Price gouging. I was told I needed cabin air filter changed, and it looked marginal, but OK...part cost, 49.99. I protested that sounded high...immediately offered 10 off. I should have been suspicious at that but was in a hurry and took it. True cost ranges from 7.95 to about 15.00 Keeley of Herriman, UT July 25, 2009 This first started when I had an oil change and they told me that I needed a new battery back in about Feb of 2009. They put one in at the rate of 90.00 when I told them I would go next door and see what Checker Autos price was I was told that they are the same..Okay,I believed them being a woman and thinking a business would not rip me off. After that for about a month I had to keep having my car jumped they said nothing was wrong with it,my friend came over looked at it and he noticed that it was over 2 years old!! We went down to Jiffy lube,I was told to come back the next day when Steve the manager would be there. Steve proceeds to tell me that the date did not matter..after I insisted that I wanted a newer one he did put one in(although it was around 9 months old)then told me it was my terminal,so we put one on the negative side. "As for this issue he stated that he had already put a new terminal on the positive side when he installed the battery". For the next few months it has been running sluggish but again I was told the battery was fine that it must be my car?!!? The past few months I knew it was not running correct but Jiffy lube insists that its fine.. Well it started to just die on me and I would have to have it jumped, and it would have this smell of fire!!! After I had it jumped on July 11,2009 I came home and again it smelled of fire,I pulled it out of garage and it did start the next morning, and evening although not running right..Monday 7/13/09 it started in the a.m. went down to Jiffy Lube, they said nothing is wrong...but after work that afternoon I had to have it jumped again..Went down the street for gas and it died again..jumped it again and came home. It smelled awful!!Next morning I was suppose to go to work at 6:30am And thought I better check on the car and again it was dead!! had to call into both jobs for the day so I could get to the bottom of this being I live alone and have no means of transportation.Called my friend who knows a few things about cars, he came over looked everything over and noticed that the cable was completely melted and the terminal was not even on it there was nothing left but a little nub & black smoke on the hood He said lets just take it down to Jiffy lube show them the results of their neglect, being they put this in, it has not been right and they refuse to correct it!!! Steve proceeded to tell me that it was my fault and not theirs or the battery and he would take a loss if he gave me a new battery and that I have wiring issues!! He put the battery tester on and stated that of 525 I had 517!? We took the battery back home put it back in my car got it jumped drove it to Checker Auto to be tested.. Well as soon as they opened the hood they asked WHO put that battery in?!!? Well it was Your neihbor's Jiffy Lube telling me I have the problem not them!!They freaked, all the black smoke a hole in the pad and a big ark mark, besides a bulging battery!! They said I was lucky that it didnt blow up or completely catch my car on fire or kill me!The battery was to big for my car they only got around 325 on the battery tester that jiffy said was 517 I took it over to jiffy lube OHHH my.. My book states that this is what goes in it?!!? NOT!! he said it was the books mistake(good one)I insisted on my money back and was calling an Attorney and the main office. I went to checker got the correct size and he then proceeds to tell me he replaced the positive terminal,NO it was the negative. He makes me go buy a positive one at checker. And its the books fault?!? I missed 12 hours of work!! The stress with having no money and working 2 p/t jobs to make ends meet and I get told it's wiring problems and to take it to a shop to be looked at. And he is worried about losing 90.00 f--- dollars!!! I LOST ALOT MORE THAN THAT!!I have dealt with this AND THE STRESS for months worrying if Im going to get from point A to point B daily! I AM GIVING YOU THIS INFORMATION TO SEE WHAT CAN BE DONE FOR YOUR MANAGEMENT/COMPANIES/ BOOKS NEGLECT BEFORE I CONTACT MY ATTORNEY. Carsten of ladera Ranch, CA July 15, 2009 Took my wife's car in for a oil and filter change. This is a newer car 2008 Audi Q7. It has a internal filter element so I was alright with the 104 cost for maint. 7.4qt synthetic oil and filter. When I got home I checked the oil it seemed a little overfilled and dirty. Was curious about this internal filter filter and what all was involved with replacing it. Looked under the car and found the filter housing. Just looking at it I could tell it wasn't even touched. It had road dust build-up and showed no sign of being removed. Drained the oil and checked the filter and no surprise it still had the old (dealership made in Germany filter). The invoice states they put on a new HL8158 filter, which obviously they did not! Went back to Jiffy Lube and spoke with the manager, showed him the filter that we took off. He agreed that they do not carry the German filter so obviously it had not been changed. I asked for a full refund and he said the best he could do was fill out a customer complaint form and send it in to their headquarters. Seriously these people have one of the most basic jobs in the world and they can't even get it right. So now I have to waste more time and money trying to make it right. alison of rixeyville, VA June 15, 2009 Price gouging! 49.95 for a cabin air filter that I could have picked up for 14 at the local parts store. Linda of Jacksnville, NC June 9, 2009 We took our 2002 Altima for a oil change and 2 weeks later our engine dies. When we checked for oil to our surprise there was no oil. We checked under the car to see if we had a leak, but nothing. We called Jiffy Lube, they told us that we had to get the car towed to a auto mechanic and if they determine the cause of the engine failure was with the oil they would repair it and cover any expenses cause by this problem. We had to get a rental. When we reported the mechanics findings to Jiffy Lube, they turned around and said that now we had to tear down the engine to failure and they will then send a 3rd party to check the engine and make sure that was the cause. To me and the mechanic that already checked the car, think thats not neccessary. I think they just want to find something to blame me and make me responsible for the damage they caused.
