I booked my husband and two business associates a room at The Westin Guangzhou as they had to stay one more day in China. I have written confirmation that I paid AUD$428 for a room for three people (2 double beds and a rollaway bed which Expedia's website ad said the hotel can provide). When I proceeded to book right under the price it said "No surprises! Here's the total price (all additional charges included):" which reassured me all was in order as it could not be any clearer then that. I carefully read inclusions and this is why I did not make the booking with other hotels when they said otherwise. Then on check in at the reception desk my husband was informed he had to pay an additional $73 for a rollaway bed. I was furious as for over $500 for one night we could have made a lot of better choices for fantastic rooms at other hotels for three people that would have included breakfast too.
When complaining to Expedia I wasted my time talking to five different people for over three hours who all made excuses and refused to take responsibility for their false advertising. They continue to blame the hotel saying this special request cost came from them and they could not do anything about it. They also send you a disclaimer AFTER you have paid them which says that the hotel may want to charge for any special requests. This is kind of like buying a car and when you already paid and go pick it up they tell you must pay extra if you want to get the tyres too.
My argument is that I dealt with Expedia and booked from their website and had no dealings with the hotel. I booked in good faith on Expedia's website because of what they promised and advertised. They also brag in their advertising how every other travel agency has hidden costs but they don't. What a bunch of lying phoneys. I hate getting ripped off. Beware do not use them. I never will again and I will continue to warn everyone.

Before booking my flights for my family (4 tickets), I called Expedia and checked that if I paid the insurance on the tickets, I will be able to change my tickets if needed. And actually it was a big lie because when I called them to change the return flight date, they returned back having ton of excuses and they want me to pay 600 USD for changing fees - which is not acceptable at all.

I booked 2 rooms in Vegas for a week for myself and a friend through Expedia. Expedia immediately charged my card for $2500. When I got to the hotel, they had no record of my reservation. I then checked my emails and had nothing. Within an hour, I got an email from Expedia telling me my reservation had been cancelled and they couldn't tell me why. They also told me not to call them about it, to only email. They still have my funds. I had to borrow money so that my friend and I had a place to stay. Called Expedia, they promised to call back. No return call. Called Expedia again, they said I'd get a call back in 3 hours. Still nothing. This company is a joke and they should be punished for their actions!

I really thought Expedia would make travel easy, as they advertise. I tried booking a simple flight from PHX to Toronto and went through payment and everything. It said it was processing and would send me a confirmation number which I never got. So I call Customer Service thinking they would help me, someone in another country answers with the driest tone and gives me a new price. I explain that I booked with another price, they tell me it's changed and on the website they confirm as well.
So I redo my reservation and get the same price I was originally quoted which is $50 cheaper with added travel insurance. They deny it and then the rep disconnects as if she's tired of talking to me. I call back and get the same treatment from someone else and they hang up on me too. I call again just trying to get the reservation booked and same treatment. I speak to a supervisor also in another country and he is completely rude and unhelpful as well. They don't know how their website works, they don't know what to do, they can't change the price, they cut me off as I'm explaining.
Expedia is the worst online travel site ever. Customer service is not helpful and they cannot even explain why their website does not work and update correct prices, but then they want to charge you an extra $50 over the phone like it’s no big deal and money grows on trees. I am really tired of dealing with people and outsourced customer service agents who contradict themselves and don't know what they are doing.
Invest in your training Expedia. I don't want to be connected to someone who is going to do the same exact thing that I can do online, and when online is not working then they can't do anything. You are a billion dollar company and it sure as hell does not show. Today I felt like you are a $100 company, and I will never use your services again or recommend you to anyone. I will definitely report this to the BBB and escalate this as high as the CEO as this is unacceptable. As a frequent traveler, you sure do make it the most difficult task in the world for something as simple as booking a simple round trip flight.

Expedia has to be the most cut-throat online business that I have ever run across. I made a reservation online and inadvertently selected the incorrect dates. Reflecting back on the reservation process, I do not recall entering any dates. When I received my email confirmation I noticed the wrong dates were entered. I immediately called Expedia to try to change the dates.
I was informed that the reservation could not be changed under any circumstances. After an initial protest and asking if something could be done, the service rep said that she would request an exception in my case. When she came back on the line she said that she was able to get an exception but the only rooms that were available for the change were suites (along with a nice upgrade charge). Please, for your own good, stay away from Expedia. Stay far, far away.

My boyfriend and I booked a package resort vacation to Cancun, Mexico (this includes flight + resort). The traveling dates were April 2, 2015 - April 6th, 2015. Upon reaching the resort we were notified that we did not have a reservation for the night of the 2nd and our hotel stay started on the 3rd. We were stranded in the middle of Mexico because Expedia could not issue our tickets properly and given that this is a packaged deal, the error was not on our part.
Upon speaking to multiple representatives for nearly 2 hours, we were told that they would not reimburse us for the one-night stay which costed us $350, but will give us $200 in our account. Now I am once again on hold with Expedia hours trying to locate the $200. There is absolutely no record of my conversation on April 2nd and have to go through this experience all over again. I have never had a worse experience but out of principle need that $200 (which requires me to further book with Expedia to use).

Spent hours on the phone with a rep with horrible service trying to book a flight for 2 people from Seattle to California. The site wasn't working properly, which forced me to work with the rep. Never again. I would rather pay an additional $100 than work with Expedia again. She told me that even though my screen looked incorrect that her information was accurate. That's on me, I should have never trusted the rep, but after 2 hours I just wanted to be done with the booking. Turns out that the information wasn't accurate and it's taken me weeks to get things sorted out. Expedia has provided very poor customer service. I've spent several hours trying to call to have the errors resolved. Each time I call I get hung up on after 30 mins of waiting for a rep. It's been a terrible experience, which I won't be repeating.

I called +114047288787 from Panama to get two hotel reservations (Riande Aeropuerto Panama) cancelled because that trip was cancelled because of my wife's 96 yr mom went to hospital in grave condition and my wife needed to get there, which meant that our vacation trip was cancelled, which included the two reservations at the Hotel Riande. The Expedia agent put me on hold so he could call the Hotel Riande for approval. After waiting 15 minutes, someone disconnected us. I then called Expedia back to talk to the original agent (**) but the new agent told me Expedia didn't allow connection to the original agent. He said sorry after I asked him if I had lost the $250.
So I wrote the hotel to see what they could do. They told me the refund wouldn't be a problem with them but I had to have Expedia's ok to do that. On top of that, Hotel Riande told me that it would be refunded through another company called hotels.com. I tried that site, but can't get them to recognize any of my names or numbers. It's so hard to accept that because of the network of insensitive customer "support" agents and companies that I would lose so much money. I have tried to add receipt and have tried Html, docx, doc, xml, and rtf and they all say file type not allowed!

We booked a holiday package (hotel and flights) to Vanuatu through Expedia for August this year. Since cyclone Pam hit the pacific island and caused mass destruction the hotel we were booked into has closed for at least 6 months. Month later there is still 100's of thousands of people without safe drinking water, not the sort of place I will be visiting with a 4yr old for many years to come.
On discovering the hotel was closed via social media we contacted Expedia to ask for a refund for the holiday. We were told that they would refund the hotel, but the flights were non refundable. The best they could offer was a 'credit note' for the flights valid for 1yr. A figure of $1042 NZD that we would be out of pocket. We seem unable to make Expedia understand that our 'contract' for a holiday package was made with them, they are now unable to fulfill this contract as the hotel is closed therefore they should refund the cost of or package. The fight continues... would never recommend or book through this company again.

The receptionist told us to tell the staff in the morning and they will switch our rooms. 4/12: We were told there were no rooms available to move. Later that night we complained again. They moved us to another room AFTER trying to make it seem like it was our fault they didn't note our account.
4/13: I'm itching like crazy and my roommate has bedbug bites all over her leg. She asked for a manager, there is only ONE manager, who may or may not be coming in because she was on vacation. The hotel doesn't want to give us a refund and we have to move AGAIN! Which runs the risk of transporting bedbugs. I went to book a vacation package with Expedia a week ago - when it came time to purchase, the cost went up from the quoted website price $300 at the time of checkout. On 4/9, I selected a different package with Expedia. Price at check out went up approx. $300 at the time of checkout. On 4/10, I searched Travelocity for same package as Expedia (these companies are under the same parent). Once again, the price was $4884 online and $5136 at check out. I was told the same thing. The price suddenly went up. If that was the case and it had gone up on 4/9, why wasn't that $5136 price showing on the website on 4/10?
I asked to speak to the supervisor in each case. Each time I was told by the supervisor to hold and it would be passed on to an even higher supervisor. In each case, nobody came back on the line. Both Expedia and Travelocity are guilty of misrepresentation. Book with other companies. There's a reason there are over 1,300 complaints filed against these companies.

Doing business with Expedia has been one of the worst experiences of my life. I am a single mom and my son joined the army after high school. He was due to graduate in March. There are circumstances that cause soldiers to miss graduation. Because of this I purchased the higher of the insurances offered. My son was injured and was unable to attend the ceremony. He was then sent to a physical training facility.
When I attempted to cancel my trip, I was told the insurance only covered my rental car and hotel. That would make the insurance no more than a scam. The need for insurance on a rental car and hotel is obsolete. As long as they are canceled within 24 hours, there is no charge. Now I am getting the run around from Expedia while trying to redeem my airline credit. A credit that was purchased with money I couldn't afford to lose. United Airlines doesn't seem to have a problem allowing me to use my credit in a voucher. Expedia, however, seems to be making it impossible.

I booked a package deal with Expedia. I later found that same exact package for less price. As per the Expedia Best Price Guarantee, I filed a claim on their website less than two hours later. As per the instructions, I attached screenshots validating and showing the lower price and details. Once I submitted the claim, I was advised that Expedia would get back to me within 48 hrs. After several days of not hearing from Expedia, I contacted their customer service again, who stated they would get back to me within 24 hrs. They finally got back to me after 72 hours, I was advised that they had no record of my claim. I then called customer service and was directed to e-mail screenshots and evidence of the claim I had filed since Expedia had no records. I e-mailed Expedia screenshots, photos, e-mails and other records demonstrating that I filed a claim.
Each response from Expedia was the same, that they had no record of receiving a claim and could not proceed without the case I.D. I tried numerous times, all in vain, to advise Expedia that their own system lost, deleted or misplaced my claim and I had no case I.D., which was the reason I attached the other information and proof they requested. Each time, Expedia just kept denying my substantial proof because they did not have a record or claim.
Expedia did everything possible to deny my claim and evidence without justification. It is also suspect that they will get back to you within 48 hours when they know a customer can only cancel reservations without any fees if it is done within 24 hrs, how convenient. Expedia will not honor their Best Price Guarantee so if you find a lower price elsewhere, book your travel there. I wonder how many other claims have been denied under the guise that they never received a claim. It is also very suspect that the claim was filed and submitted via their own pop up window or tab rather than a claim you actually e-mail in from your own account and could easily prove it was sent to Expedia.

After going through the paces for >30 minutes I was placed again on hold, and another representative came on the line and started all over! - as though I'd never called. He kept saying things like "we'll have to reroute your entire return trip... it looks like this flight you were on is full now". After an hour it turned out that one leg of the flight was delayed 30 minutes. Simply that.
2. My contact phone number does not register in the system. This means I am connected with a voice system which repeatedly asks for my phone number and when it doesn't get it, proceeds to ask for another phone number, twice. I asked to have this problem resolve three times and each time was told it was, It wasn't. By the time I was angry enough to contact a Customer Service Manager, "**", he said there was nothing we could do about it. He had no answer for why my case was dropped and restarted. I asked what will happen when I'm using international phone minutes and this happens again with an itinerary change and Expedia puts me through this nonsense again. His scripted answer was that I "just have to call Expedia".

And now, the website said that I will be receiving my full refund within 2 billing cycles, however, it’s been 6 months since this incident happened, and I STILL haven't received my money back. Is this the type of service Expedia gives to its customers? I have contacted Expedia numerous times, more times than I can count now, and every time, they have different responses. Sometimes the representative says Expedia never charged me. When I press the issue more, they finally agree Expedia did charge me, and then they tell me to contact the bank, which in turn tells me to contact Expedia or the airline directly.
Is this my responsibility? I bought the ticket from Expedia, trusting the company to be fair with me; but in return I am experiencing it to be a ripoff. I bought the ticket from Expedia, and so I should be dealing with Expedia and only Expedia. Why am I asked to run around from Expedia to the bank to the airline and back to square one? I am requesting Expedia to please refund me my money already. $1,057.70 is not a small amount, and for people like me who work hard to get this money, it makes a huge difference.
P.S. I have stopped buying tickets from Expedia and have considered buying them from CheapOair and Priceline. I have also told my friends and families to not do business with Expedia ever since this incident happened. Some of my relatives, including myself, are frequent flyers; and we're hoping losing customers will make Expedia understand not to treat its customers unfairly.

I used Expedia to make a flight reservation to Alaska. On Monday, April 6th, I received an email notice that there were changes to my Expedia itinerary. I immediately called and found out that US Airways had cancelled the flights for which I was scheduled, so I needed to reserve a whole new flight plan. I spent 2 hours with Expedia on Monday the 6th, which involved 45 minutes with the first rep, who then for some unknown reason forwarded my call directly to the airline. I had to hang up and start the process over again. The 2nd call had a bad connection so I hung up, placed a third call with them and finally, after 2 hours, had secured a new flight plan for my Alaska trip. Or, so I thought. I was told that I would receive an email confirmation, which I never did.
So on Tuesday the 7th, I started the whole process over. There was no flight plan that had been secured the day before, so I worked with another rep, but after 45 minutes the call was dropped. I called again (this now being my 5th call to Expedia over a 2 day period), asked to speak to a supervisor and was told by the rep that if the call dropped, she would personally call me back. After 20 minutes, she initiated the transfer, and the call was dropped. She did not call back. I called a 6th time, was told the same thing by a rep, and the call was dropped in the transfer to the supervisor.
So 6 calls, 5 of them dropped, 2 reps who both supposedly got a flight plan in place but didn't, 2 reps who told me they would call back if the call was dropped but didn't. I was on the phone close to a total of 4 hours with Expedia and I have been unable to rectify the cancelled flights. At this point, I have no recourse. Expedia doesn't have an email address for communication, and I don't see that getting back on the phone just to be dropped and disregarded as a means to resolving this issue. And NOW, the Expedia site is showing my original flight plan as being booked and confirmed. Please help!

Because they didn't want to deal with me, THREE TIMES they put me on hold for 2 hours. After two hours, the cell phone company disconnected my call. After the third time, I figured out they were NEVER going to help me. Expedia is just a scam. Call the airlines or use a real travel agency.
AFTER Expedia has your money, they will not help you with anything. Doesn't matter if you ask for a supervisor. I then compounded my error by using Expedia to book a flight for my friend to meet me. They booked her on a flight with Air Asia out of an airport that is undergoing construction. AirAsia sent me an email three days later cancelling the flight and will NOT refund my money. Again, Expedia was ZERO help. Face it, people, things go wrong with travel arrangements all the time. DO NOT USE EXPEDIA. They will not help you with ANYTHING. I'm out 650 dollars now, which I'm disputing with the credit card company, I have no other recourse.
Both the hotel (Tune Hotel) and Air Asia refuse to refund my money. Tune Hotel advertises a desk, but there is no desk in the room. I then called Delta Airlines, got a better flight arrangement through them with fewer stops and shorter layovers. In short, Expedia did nothing for me but cost me money and wasted HOURS AND HOURS of my time. I had to REDO myself everything they did. I'm out considerable time and money. I suspect the other online booking agencies are the same. PROCEED WITH CAUTION if you decide to use them.

My flight price dropped $300 a week before my flight. When I called Expedia, they said they could do nothing. I contacted the airline directly, United, who told me had I bought the ticket directly from them, they would have been able to give me a travel voucher for the difference, but as I got the ticket from an agent, there was nothing they could do. I'm on hold now with Expedia waiting to talk to a manager, but I've been on hold waiting for either the first rep or now the manager for 70 minutes, then the line cut.
Ironically their call-back service called me back after 1.5 hours and I'm once again waiting for a manager. Of course they told me there was nothing they could do, and that's a lot of time I won't get back. I had time to call United from my other line and write 3 reviews while on hold waiting. Bottom line, don't use Expedia! Book directly with the airline. If there are any issues, you'll get through to the airline much faster, and they will provide much better customer service. They want to keep your business.

They literally say they do not have the ability to "alter" an existing reservation! Which would have been fine except that the hotel was booked for that time and therefore if I did that I wouldn't have any nights!!! By chance we found another house (at great additional cost). It seems that Expedia has gotten so large and convoluted that they can no longer effectively manage and serve their own customers and partners. I work for a hotel and unfortunately constantly have to make daily attempts at reaching someone at Expedia to fix a mistake that Expedia made. They make it very difficult to reach a customer service representative and the usual hit 0 until someone answers method no longer works as they will just proceed to hang up on you and make you go through it all again.
It is pertinent that third party services and the hotels they're suppose to work with have an open and clear line of communication so they can both keep their mutual customers happy, but when Expedia makes it so difficult for either party to reach them, my only conclusion is that even they're aware of how awful their service is and rather than improve the quality of said service, they'll just make it harder for anyone to bring forth concerns or complain.

Dear Expedia, My friend and I booked a flight through Expedia to go from LAX to MLE as a package (2 flight tickets and hotel to Vilu Reef Spa Maldives). First problem: The agent that booked our flight messed up on my name which is suppose to be blank, blank, blank, she entered Blank, blank. HERE ARE THE AGENT'S NAME WHO REPEATEDLY MESSED UP OUR ITINERARY: **, supervisor #1,2,3 and this one that is helping me now. Second problem: The flight on the package WE chose to book was NOT booked properly. This flight was not on the scratch pad that we chose. We wanted to have a lay over in Dubai for 8 hours, NOT COLOMBO FOR 11 HOURS and DUBAI FOR 7 HOURS!
Third problem: We had to book another flight to get the right flight. Since we paid the trip separately through an agent, THEY DID NOT mention that they booked the flights separately and charged both flights on my friends card. And the other payment was under my card which paid for the reservations for the hotel. So the supervisor mentioned that he refunded our money back, which was a lie because he only refunded my friends visa card and not mine. So he was rushing us to make a payment on a flight BUT he did not reverse the transaction. He said, "I can only hold you for a minute to come up with the payment. Otherwise, you will be charged additional for I have no control of the airfares."
I had to contact my BANK in order to see if he refunded my money back. They did not refund my money back because it was used for the hotel! Now, on the other hand, my friend booked hers with her debit card, but they did not book my flight. Later after talking for 2 hours on the phone, the holds on the phones are added (I have pictures to prove them). They finally figured out that my friend's card was used for the flight, so they had to book my flight separately.
Fourth Problem: My name was still messed up after talking to them for 3 hours on the phone. You think it would be fine since they messed up the first booked flight, they would change it to the new flight, but they didn't. My friend gave them the right spelling of my name and unfortunately they messed up two times. So the Agent had to call Emirates regarding changing the names, but their policy would not let them change my correct name. Fifth Problem: Emirates will not change my name because Expedia deliberately sabotaged the spelling of my name. Everything is recorded on Expedia so I don't understand. THEY NEED TO TRAIN THEIR WORKERS!
I got fed up and told the supervisor to transfer me to someone who knows what they are doing. Mentioned I wanted to speak to someone in corporate. So they transferred me to **. Now they want to VOID the transaction and RE-BOOK this whole flight. While I still don't know if my friend and I are going to be seated together since this is a flight package.
This is so difficult and frustrating to be booking with so many problems and it's NOT JUST ONE, BUT 5 THINGS that were wrong. I have traveled and booked with Expedia multiple times and this is the first time that they are VERY DISAPPOINTING. I am a member of EXPEDIA REWARDS. Expedia workers did not even bother to help at first, had to go through so many channels to figure things out. I am so disappointed. They did not even give us anything to ease this transaction. We booked at 12 am and did not finish correcting the problem until 08:09 PM today. No incentive for messing up people's flights and vacations. THIS SERVICE IS THE WORST.

I've made so many calls, been on hold so many hours and hung up on more than once when I thought - finally - I'm going to get this resolved, to just be disconnected. I tried doing this at work one day but then quickly found that I was going to need several hours (wasted two work hours). I then tried again on the weekend and was on hold over an hour and 45 minutes, to get disconnected and start all over again. That day took...was about 4 hours on the phone with frustration so high that I just requested a trip cancellation to book the trip on another day.
I then called on the following Sunday (changes or a credit to be applied can't be done online). After 4 hours on hold, again disconnected and sitting right now on my next hour of wait that I decided to write this complaint. Oh and the brief few minutes that I did speak to someone, I found that the prior 4 hours I spent on the phone to cancel did not actually get cancelled and is still active. I work 60 hours a week to spend my Sunday sitting on hold again. and again...and again.
This has been going on 3 weeks of trying to find time to get this resolved in my spare time. The experience I have had is not something I think anyone would actually believe in the year 2015 when companies are so focused on customer service in resolution. I can't imagine this company being in business long if this is the way they conduct it. I will say, you will get right through if you want to book a new trip. So I contacted them via email to have the insurance removed. I received an auto-response stating someone would get back to me within 24 hours. That didn't happen, so I continued to call to no avail. The wait times were atrocious and the message continue to request customers to call back in 72 hours. A week ago I tried booking with Expedia TD to find out they held my money on my visa. After numerous calls they kept sending me into a circle between my bank, Expedia, the airline and Expedia for TD. After physically sitting down in my bank for 6 hours, on the following Monday all they could tell me was my funds are being held for security purposes and Expedia is responsible to release them. Expedia then sent me back to my bank when all they could say is wait 5 business days.
A week today the money was then released back to my visa and I was able to book again after losing my flight! Same flight but now it went up $150... that's fine. I called visa let them know I was making these purchases and then proceeded to call expedia. She then got all my info down and proceeded with the payment THEN after realizing the process didn't go through she realized there aren't any available seats. (she tried 4 times) She told me to call my bank because something was wrong (duh). I was charged 4 TIMES for 1 flight over 5000 on visa bill.
After 4 hours of calling my bank and Expedia back and forth I demanded to speak to a manager because nobody knew what the hell was going on. A manager then says "72 business hours the money will be released back into your account." **. So now I'm stuck paying for an even more expensive flight and I lost the flight I needed to be on all because of a glitch in their system. The staff is very rude and they don't understand English or preferably don't understand the concept of a full god dam plane! Now I am still flightless with a big headache and countless of hours I will never get back from my life. Never again. I advise you to book through a real travel agent

I rented a car through Expedia for a recent trip to Costa Rica; given that I hadn't driven in the country before, I also accepted the "offer" to buy "insurance" through Expedia. When I arrived at the airport (LIR), I was informed that Costa Rica requires that all renters to purchase insurance through their vendor -- no options. You can have additional collision insurance through other carriers but they specifically said that the insurance provided by Expedia was "not valid" in Costa Rica -- although they would honor the insurance provided by my credit card (thanks, Visa Signature). Again, this was for insurance beyond the nationally required, which added $162 to my anticipated $228 rental.
The rental company (Alamo) said I would have to go back to Expedia to request a refund of the $77 I had paid them. I wrote Expedia "customer service" which said I would need to call their 800 number. After being on hold almost an hour, I finally reached an agent and then a supervisor, both of whom insisted that if I wanted my money back, I would have to provide documentation, snail mailed to a "Las Vegas Operations Center." (What?! I rented through them -- why do they need my itinerary number to be sent to some nameless post box in Las Vegas.) If that's the case, why couldn't they put the address in an email, rather than wasting my time? Why? Because they don't want to refund the money. Pure and simple, this is fraud. And I am not amused.

We purchased a vacation package (flight + hotel) for our family of 5 in January 2015 for a June trip to London from Expedia. At the same time, we also purchased travel insurance which we always do especially with 3 kids. On Wednesday March 18th, I called Expedia to inquire about what we may have to face financially if we decided to make a change to our travel days since we had never bundled a hotel with our flight before with Expedia. I was connected to an agent I believe somewhere in Asia. Right from the start I made doubly sure and kept emphasizing that I did not want to make any changes but needed information.
After about an hour of incompetency, misinformation and being put on hold, I wanted to get off the phone and needed to verify that nothing was changed because I just did not trust the service I was receiving. I was put on hold again for about 15 minutes and then the agent came back and said how sorry she was, that she had mistakenly cancelled my hotel reservation (2 bedroom suite) and had tried to get it back but was unsuccessful. I was in a shock. I screamed for her supervisor and demanded that I either get my hotel room back or get all of my monies back which was a total of $9,531.15, including insurance that we had paid at once. Their grand solution to the problem was for me to use my insurance, which I refused to do and still refuse. She went to her supervisor who told her to tell me that I could get my money back minus the insurance. This is where they are morally lacking.
I have spent countless hours on the phone with Expedia and the pattern is to call and wait about 45 mins. before someone answers the call and then I am passed from agent to agent in Asia, then after a couple of hours of screaming, being connected to an agent in the US who will appear to finally understand that I am the injured party. They verbally take ownership for the error, promise to reinstate my hotel and so far no one has followed through. I am truly shocked at the behavior of this organization and the government needs to investigate them. Their behavior is criminal and they have no regards for the customer nor any morals.
The London part of the trip is just a portion of our trip as we are also going to Paris and thank God we did not use Expedia for that leg of our trip. They just want the insurance my family purchased for peace of mind to fix the problem that they caused without taking any responsibility. All their calls are supposed to be recorded. All of my conversations with Expedia should be available especially the initial call of March 18th. They are ruining our trip which we have already spent so much on. Expedia needs to be investigated and we will be needing lawyers.

I called Expedia. Waited for an hour and told them my problem and the phone disconnected. I then called again. Waited for another hour. Told them what happened to me on my previous call and the person took my phone number just in case we get disconnected. As she was transferring me then phone disconnected from her end again. So I waited for 20 minutes and never got a call again. Then I called again and waited for 1 hour and 20 minutes, the person takes my call back number and was trying to connect me with her supervisor and again their phone disconnected.
I am super distraught about me being charged twice that will take days to reimbursed. This was the money I was suppose to purchase an additional ticket for my fiance for our honeymoon and now I am at risk because if all tickets are sold out and I can't purchase tickets for my fiance, it'll ruin my trip even more than Expedia has already made it to be. I will never use or recommend using Expedia for anything what so ever. I have never had or dealt with the worst customer service I have ever had in my life. Be advised!!!

You talk to people in the Philippines, and your fee for cancellation or changes to your flight may far exceed your flight, which they will tell you is just a lost cause. You think you're doing yourself a favor and going cheaper going through third party. Don't fool yourself. Pay the extra it takes to just go through the airline. An error message/box popped up indicating that difficulty was experienced processing my transaction, and it told me to refresh the page and try again. I did so three times. I found out that 3 transactions were sent to my bank! I then immediately called my bank and requested that they be cancelled. To be told that the monies had been sent to Expedia and that they would need to return them to me.
After numerous conversations with Expedia agents, and being provided with the reference number: ** and being told that the monies would be returned in 72 hours and this is not the case. Monies have not been returned. When I contacted Expedia.com to discuss the error and ask that the other transaction/confirmation be cancelled, the representative told me that there wasn't an issue and that the monies were merely on hold. And completely dismissed my explanation regarding the error, and instructed me relax and wait.
I'm travelling in UK at the moment and this was money, not credit that was taken out of my account, in which I received not documentation and/or acknowledgment of this error. When I asked to speak to someone regarding the system error and for guarantee of a full refund, I was placed on hold to speak to a manager. Many, many minutes later, a recording indicated that another number was created to assist me due to the high volume and the number was listed so that I could call. After about 20 minutes, I was told that the booking was cancelled with full refund as it was within 24 hrs. I called multiple times as I never received confirmation of this cancellation as promised. I am still waiting.
No one was even returned my first email query, in which their site states that a return email will be sent in 48 hours and 5 days have passed. The entire point of using Expedia.com in the past has been convenience. This was anything but, the worst customer experience and I'm still out my money. I will never use Expedia. Their customer service team then completely deny any wrongdoing and refuse to amend their mistakes even if the hotel themselves tell you it is okay to make the change but that they just need a simple email communication from Expedia to confirm. Yep, the call dropped three times and the four people, even the last guy I spoke to, could not speak English well enough to deal with my query. Beware. Be very aware that you getting what you think you are getting. Where do I start? Well we are two families with children traveling the Bangkok and wanted to find good priced accommodation in the centre of Bangkok. We searched various hotel booking websites and found Expedia to have some good hotels at reasonable rates.
We input our information into the search options including wanting a room to fit 2 adults and 2 children. The search came back with the Novotel Bangkok on Siam Square and gave us a good rate for one room. It read as having one queen size bed and underneath said roll away beds were available. Now on most hotel booking websites such as Bookings.com and Trivago you would get a price to match your search parameters. Well not on Expedia! It gives you a price then you go through the payment screen and it's not until you get your confirmation that you find out the room was only for 2 people and if you want your kids to have a room you need to pay around $80AUD extra per night for them.
This would never happen on Bookings.com or Trivago. When I phoned to complain I got an Indian man who was not very courteous and told me that the room was for 4 if we could fit 4 into one bed but if we want extra beds we have to pay for them. I asked to speak to a manager and then he hung up. I called back and got another Indian man who told me the booking was for two people only and the beds, which cannot be guaranteed by the way, were extra. I told him that the website was misleading and it should not give you a price if it does not meet the search parameters. I asked to speak to a manager and the manager couldn't have been bothered and told the person I had spoken to to tell me that I had to pay for my kids.
Now I cannot get my money back and am expected to pay an additional $80 times 2 for 4 nights, total of $640 for my two children to have crappy fold away beds that may not even be available. I am so sad and angry that I put my trust in this website. Please please be very careful.

Ok, so we booked everything through this site, first thing that happened is we get to the airport and none of our seats are together. I have 4 tickets and two small children myself and husband, how is that possible? I manage to ask people if they can please move their seats, and they were kind enough to do so. So the second thing is we get to the hotel and are given a filthy smelly moldy room. No one at the hotel was helpful, I call expedia when I get home and I get hung up on and on hold for hours. I write letter to the hotel itself and expedia, so finally they give me a $200 credit on their site.
Well against my better judgment I used the site again to book a CA Vacation. I book a room for a hotel and now keep in mind I called to do this because I have 5 people going, not four and I know it’s usually for, hey guess what, I get off the phone with the girl and our conversation ended with you will receive your confirm via email… it never comes. I call Expedia on the phone for over 2 hours trying to see why went wrong, I'm told the girl messed up because that hotel does not even accommodate what I need. And the guy is like oh well I don't know what to tell you, I should have learned my lesson right? So I book our next hotel. Here is the next thing, I book our room and use the $200, I really did want to use the credit. So that is the reason I went with them again.
I book a two queen bedroom ocean view, which I'm told by expedia that I will be able to have a roll away bed, guess what? Not true so the cost of the room so far for 5 days is 2500.00 and I know it’s not true because I called the hotel we booked and wanted to make sure everything went through ok, just to make sure I call and that’s when I was told about the room being too small for the roll away. So, I ask what I have to do and I'm told I have to get a bigger room, which will cost another $600-$700. I'm told that they will note the account because they can't make the change until I get there. So ok I'm fine because at least the hotel is going to place this hold for us, well I call back just to make sure were all good because my trip is in in two weeks. Guess what, it’s not, and I'm on told to call Expedia and I'm on hold so far for 40 mins. 52mins, ok so ** picks up and I tell her what the issue is, she tells me hold on I'm calling the hotel.
She calls the hotel and gives them the wrong story, she tells them that I'm upset because I don't have two queen beds in my room. WHAT, ARE YOU KIDDING? WHAT SHE NOT ON THE OTHER END WHEN I JUST HAD THAT WHOLE CONVERSATION?? So again I explain and I'm put on hold again. She comes back and say ok the hotel has the request and you will pay when you get to the hotel it will be $625.00 more, well this is the LAST time ever that I will use this site after my trip I will delete my account. I hope that Expedia closes all together!!!

We put in a lot of hours choosing where we wanted to stay and what travel service to use. I guess by the time we got to Expedia, we were just exhausted and forgot to do our "due diligence" in reading the reviews. I so wish we had. I booked for everyone, and entered a wrong middle name for my sister-in-law's husband. Apparently this is a monumental task to correct. She began calling the evening I booked, but had to give up for the night, and started again at 6:15 the next morning. Expedia referred her to the airline and the airline referred her to Expedia. Note: this airline was not one listed on the low-price carrier list provided where it states you must contact the airline. Expedia, per their website, should have been able to do make the change. Being unsuccessful in getting the name changed running close to the 24-hour deadline when we'd be charged for the flight anyway, we decided to cancel.
The instructions to cancel say to use the Manage Bookings button - only, it doesn't work. Back to the phone and the exact same scenario. We did cancel the hotels and everything but the flights. When I called, I was given another number and a different booking ID for the airline (so I was foolishly hopeful), but that didn't work either. We were beside ourselves. I'm pretty resourceful, but I was at the end of it. At 7 that evening, I made one last ditch effort to call the airline. Although I couldn't cancel, the guy was able to change those 3 difficult letters to correct the name. When I looked up our reservations, they had only canceled the hotel - not the transportation, excursions, etc., as promised. Exhausted and beaten down, we chose the path of least resistance and re-booked.
Unfortunately, by the time my sister-in-law rebooked, the room had gone up $395 for the week - and that was about 45 minutes after my booking. Any discounts for our that soul-sucking, brain-draining, endlessly frustrating experience? Nope. Well, we haven't gone yet, so after reading the other reviews, I'm scared that we may be making a return trip to this website. But we definitely will NEVER make any more trips through Expedia!

I would also like to point out that the location was less than a couple miles off the Disney property. We are Florida residents and a family of 4 was visiting and we had planned to go to the Disney Parks. Check in for the hotel was 4:00pm. Saturday morning we arrived at Disney at park at the time it opened, at approximately 3:00pm I called the hotel to confirm our reservation. At no time in the booking process, in the charging of my account, during my call to confirm, was it relayed to me, but upon arrival with friends in tow and a 3 year old child. (The plan was to drop off our things and get back to the parks.) It was then I was told that the hotel was overbooked and they had no room for me and my guests. When I called "expedia" I got ahold of ** , he was very condescending as he continued to put me on hold and denied and delayed my requests to speak with a supervisor stating (you will be "Wasting your time" talking to a supervisor and that "she" would not be able to do anything for me that "he" could not do).
What he did was keep me on hold for over 2 1/2 hours periodically coming back to say that he was doing all he could: Every hotel was further and further away and not adequate to the reservation originally made. This included a Days inn with 2 single bedrooms 25 additional miles away. (This is unacceptable and given the original hotel booked which I had to repeatedly remind him, his options were in no way comparable to the original booking.)
After much protest over this time table I finally was briefly able to talk to the Supervisor ** : who was apologetic without addressing the issue... offering a $100 voucher for "Hotels.com or Expedia", an insult at this point as the last thing you want to hear is that they are offering you a discount to the same company that has grossly mistreated you. She also offered a $25-50 gas voucher for my troubles.
So just to provide the extent of my troubles: We made a reservation, confirmed and was billed immediately. Only when we show at the hotel to check-in are we informed that they are over booked and 'WE' are responsible at this point to contact you to find out where we might be able to stay. In tow we have a family of 4 including a 3 year old child. At about the hour and a half mark we told them (family of 4) to go back to the park as their day (vacation) should not be ruined. It was at this time and urgency that I insisted on speaking to the manager and was assured that they were "doing all they could" once again. My Wife pulled her phone out and contacted Disney's guest services.
Within a matter of minutes we were given 8 comparable hotels in a very short distance from where we were. Each with available rooms that matched our needs. This seemed to frustrate ** and ** , when I relayed that my wife had found 8 hotels in the area that met our needs. It was then that they named a "Marriott". This was relativity close 17-20 miles and 30 min away. And on the list given by DISNEY. I ask the address and put it in to the Google maps which shows at the airport, I am familiar with the area and while still not pleased felt it was close enough. Once we arrive at the hotel Marriott at the address given, it was only then that we realized they (**) have given me directions to the wrong hotel and not the one they changed our reservation to.
The problem has been complicated to the worst possible level as they booked a hotel even a additional 40 miles further. (Again the rest of the party is still at the Disney park) At the current location we are at least 30 min away from Disney but with no reservation and the hotel is asking us to pay for the rooms as the change was "not put in correctly" and they want to charge twice as much as our original charged and authorized amount. This is one of the things that ** had stated "NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE TO YOU". It was at this point I had lost all faith in anything that "Expedia/ Hotels.com" would do to make things right. The Marriott at this time said they would hold the rooms for 1hr while we again were to clear it up.
I went to the hotel parking lot as to not sit in another hotel lobby and called Expedia/Hotels.com again. I tried to get back to ** to no avail and the current "Supervisor" was supposedly writing everything down of this long ordeal and promised to relay the information to the next person "who could deal with the situation" but transferred me to yet a new person without relaying one detail of the issue. It was then that I was transferred to ** . ** listened to the explanation, provided the prompt attention and applied great detail that an issue of this nature requires, she contacted the hotel and cleared things up, we even got disconnected and she called me back to assure that all was taken care of.
By the time we got to the room it was 10:20pm. The full ordeal took approximately 6 hours to resolve and was the most horrible traveling experience I have ever had. Each of the four adults on this trip plan on writing BBB. The whole thing was handled extremely bad. The first two representatives were negative, rude and did very little in assisting or addressing the issue. In my opinion it was a joke to them and they intentionally drug out the issue and gave me the wrong address on purpose. I work in client services and happen to be the point of escalation for issues relating to our clients. In most companies an issue of this nature given the things that were done and said you would hope there would be some type of disciplinary action taken.
Most client service departments have ways of monitoring staff via recorded calls and cameras. A further look into this matter may reveal ** non-Chantilly putting me on hold while not attending to the issue. I feel that this will be relegated to a file for complaints and not further addressed. But if this is not the case I would love a follow up to the actions taken and at the very least an apology for a bad situation made horrific by negligence.

I was booking a trip to France for (6) people. Wanted to pay with 2 credit cards since the total was over $14K. Took over 5 hours and still not done. Because I had to use 2 credit cards, I had to pay with an Expedia agent. Requested an "English Speaking" agent, but unfortunately all the Expedia agents have heavy accents. They (3) were extremely difficult to understand. So, upon attempted payment with my credit cards, all three agents told me the same story, "sorry, the price of your trip went up" as we were making the transaction and the price is now $100 more.
I found that hard to believe since I would open another window on my computer to book the exact same trip and the price was not changed. I even asked for the manager (who also had a heavy accent) to help and still same scenario. So, instead, after 6 hrs of useless agents, I called my credit card company to increase my credit limit and charged my trip online with one credit card - no problems, and no price increase. Expedia agents just lie and cannot seem to understand. They really could just say, "if you use 2 credit cards, you will be charged extra" instead of saying the price just went up. Horrible customer service and I had literally WASTED 6 hours talking to agents that lied and lied. My advice is to seek another travel website. This one is not honest.

It was a simple process. I went to Expedia's website and entered the information for my arrival and departure dates to obtain a quote for a package of airfare and hotel, round trip from Portland to Newark and a five night stay in a hotel. Date of request was 2/18/15. Actual travel was for 5/2/15 to 5/7/15. Expedia had several offers for me to choose from. When I selected the offer I wanted to implement, Expedia changed the number of hotel days from five to four, packaged with an overnight flight. The packaged price (1897.52) of the offer did not change. Unfortunately, I missed the STOLEN day and gave the O.K. to proceed. Subsequently, the same day, I discovered that I could have done the same trip, booking directly, for 1772.20.
Hardly seems fair. You get a quote for five hotel nights and Expedia removes one of those hotel nights and does not change their price. When you offer Expedia proof that you could do better, with a hotel in the same location with the same four star rating, they have all kinds of excuses as to why they cannot honor their low cost guarantee. Where did the value of the fifth hotel night go? It surely was not shared with the customer.
If you like BAIT and SWITCH, stick with EXPEDIA. Otherwise I suggest you look elsewhere first. Before posting this, I made numerous attempts to talk with Expedia by phone. It was always someone at some offshore answering center and the wait time was anywhere from 45 minutes to more than one hour. (I offered to email a copy of my mobile bank statement) and Expedia said I couldn't do that. I asked ** from Expedia for a corporate number and she told me they didn't have a corporate number even though I found it on the internet. Finally I went to front desk and they saw the double charge so they refunded with the assistance of my bank and gave us a coupon to eat breakfast for free one day. I was never informed of having to pay an incidental hotel fee, TV was broken so they moved us to a new room.
Got there and we were given a full sized bed even though we ordered a KING size bed (my fiance is 6'4" 300 lbs). We were too disgusted to complain anymore. It makes no sense to go through a third party company if we can't trust them to get us the cheapest rate and assist us if there is confusion between the consumer the hotel and Expedia. I was told I needed a supervisor and got put on hold for 1.32 minutes (I was just curious to know how long they would do that). When they finally answered, ** said: "I understand you need a supervisor, I'll connect you to one." At that point, I couldn't believe it and told him so. I quickly called the Expedia customer service and requested if the package could be cancelled. The agent mentioned that since it was so close to the booking, it's not even confirmed. So it's going to be very easy to cancel the booking. I said "Great". He on the call said "He has not wiped the itinerary" and it has been cancelled. I double checked with him if I need to do something. He replied "No, everything is done".
I then after 2 days went ahead and booked another itinerary (same dates, same location, same people as first one) on Expedia. But this time only Flight + Car. No Hotel. Now while I am on this 2nd travel, 2 days after the travel I get a call from the hotel booked in 1st itinerary to see if I had checked-in. I was shocked that I was getting that call. After talking to Expedia for 6 Hours (during my vacation / travel), they inform that it is my fault.
This is ridiculous. I have call records (no audio, just telephone company call records) and they are making me pay for their mistake. I called and spoke to **, whom I was on the phone with for over an hour, hammering out all the details. I write notes on everything so I kept a detailed list of what was included, my cabin number, departure times and the balance I owed to Expedia. After taking such a long time to charge my credit card, ** came back and said "**, thanks for being so patient, I'm going to credit you a $200 on board credit." Wonderful! I wrote it down, along with that I would be pre-praying the gratuities I owed because I didn't want to have to pay them on board.
My husband and I set sail on our first ever vacation together, and 3 days in we check our cruise statement to make sure we aren't spending too much while on board. We immediately noticed a $100 credit, and that $24 in gratuities were being charged EVERY DAY. We went to the desk to resolve this and were told that we would have to contact Expedia when we returned home.
Now, I have just gotten off the phone with ** after holding for 16 minutes, telling me she sees no record of a $200 credit, and that we DID NOT include our gratuities when we booked with **. I told her how much my account was charged for and she said that it didn't match what she saw on her screen. She was very rude, and getting frustrated that I think I had a $200 credit, which is apparently impossible. I told her that my phone call was recorded for quality purposes, and that she should check my previous conversation. Conversations are only kept for 60 days, very convenient, as this is now my only proof of what I was promised and is my word against theirs. I have to find my cc statement and send it to this rude woman if I want any hope of being reimbursed for what I was over-charged.
DO NOT BOOK WITH EXPEDIA! They do whatever it takes to get you to book with them, but do not hold up their end of the deal. I am so disappointed that the first trip I have ever taken with my husband is tainted by this disaster. My girlfriend and I were going on a one week trip to Playa Del Carmen Mexico. I picked a hotel and before paying online I noticed there was an age stipulation to check into the hotel. I contacted Expedia the agent I got said she would call the hotel for me while on hold. She picked up after a very brief hold time. She assured me the hotel would make an exception and allow my girlfriend to check in since she is only one year under the age limit to check in (age limit is 25 she is 24 and I am 23).
The total of the trip was supposed to be just over $1700. She charged my card TWICE for $1017.50 (over $2,000) then she said "call your bank there must be a limit on your card." I told her there is a $5,000 daily limit on my card she says "no that can't be right I'll wait while you call your bank" So I call and there is no problem on my end. I am at work during this whole thing which last OVER 2 HOURS!! I during this time I have to get on the phone with my bank get the money refunded and credited.
So I call back the next day to retry and I had a weird feeling about the "exception" at the hotel so I asked to have the new agent confirm. After he calls the hotel he gets back on the phone and says "Sir the hotel manager said no one from Expedia has called and that is a STRICT hotel policy they CAN NOT break!!!!" So this lady was going to allow me to show up to a hotel I can't check into and won’t allow me in. On top of that I would have had to find a new hotel while on vacation and thinking this was already taken care of. AND I would have lost the money for the original hotel!! Man, you'll need a lawyer with these guys. Don't use Expedia for anything.

I booked a trip on Expedia and bought travel insurance. I tried changing my flights when an unexpected event happened. I got the total run around from them. I then tried to cancel just one airline ticket, the person who was no longer able to come. Expedia again gave me the run around and finally said they would cancel it. Well, they did not cancel it. Now I am trying to cancel it AGAIN. Every time I have talked to them I have asked for a supervisor. I am either hung up on or put on hold for at least half and hour and then get the run around from the supervisor and "magically" disconnected. I will never book with them again. Their travel insurance is a waste of money. It does no good. To change my flights they wanted to charge me $1800!!!! You are better off booking everything yourself and NOT using this company.

One hour plus wait times for "customer service." No chat options online to get issues resolved. No email address for customer response. The verdict: Expedia does NOT care about their customers. I won't be using them again. Whatever they save you in travel costs are more than offset by frustration if... God forbid.. you need to contact them. I honestly do not know how they stay in business.

I called Expedia at 3:00 today to book a trip for my family. After waiting on hold and going back and forth to get all of the information correct we were finally done with the reservation and the agent informed me the price had gone up to over $300 more than what I agreed upon. I then told her I would not pay the extra $300 and she then informed me that she had already charged my credit card. Without my permission to the extra charge. She then said she would contact her superior. 45 minutes later her superior got on the phone and said I would need to call the airline if I wanted to cancel, and cancel through the resort as well. The airline would charge me to cancel the reservation, previously I had been told that there would not be any problem to cancel--just call them back and they would do it as long as it was with in 24 hours.
I then spoke with the next superior in line and she offered the $300 difference back as if she was doing me a favor, but then said if I choose to cancel I would have to pay the airline their fees. I never agree to the charge amount with the extra $300 and now they're telling me I will also incur the cancellation fees. Then on to the next supervisor by this time it's 7 pm at night. She agrees to cancel the reservation and the Sprint airfare fees. I am not sure if she did, But we went ahead and called the credit card company to cancel. It was 8 pm by the time it was over. 5 hours of my life wasted. I will never use this company again. I don't trust them at all. There is a huge communication issue and there is a huge lack of customer service. If this is how the conduct business then hopefully they will go out of business.

This company has the worst customer service ever! My husband actually logged his time and was on hold for over 12 hours. I was disconnected and put on hold for four hours. They made an error with my reservation (booked 3 out of 7 family members) and then told me there was no room for rest of my children and husband. I asked them to cancel and they transferred and disconnected me. They are refusing to refund my trip for 3 out of 7 family members. I am so frustrated and annoyed. Called my credit card company and they called them and were on hold for two hours also. Atrocious company - could be a case study in Business School!

We booked air and a resort package for mid April 2015 and are forced to move to a later date. We chose May 30 - June 6th. The same package on Expedia and separately on the airline and resort site is $1,000 less than the original date. The resort has a no change fee policy on their website if prior to 31 days of arrival which we are at day 34. My wife and I spent 12 hours over 2 days on hold with Expedia and bounced from one place to another, and when we did get a representative, they calculated $800 more for the same package instead of $1,000 less minus the $300 airline change fee, or $700 less than the original package. They also wanted to charge a hotel fee, when there should be none. When I called the hotel on another phone while with a Expedia supervisor, ** is her name, she hung up on me. I also gave her my cell phone in case we got disconnected because it happened 4 times the day before.
** did not call back, so she hung up, plain and simple. This is the most unacceptable and aggravating experience I have ever encountered in my life. We are also up against the clock because more fees are charged within 31 days of arrival and we can't get Expedia to work with us, they just hang up. Bottom line is we can cancel and book online ourselves for less than they want to charge to reschedule but we can't get Expedia to cancel this trip, they hang up on us every time to get to that point. Additionally, there is not a customer relations contact of complaint contact for Expedia, we have $6,000 at risk and we are powerless to do anything about it.

Used them for the first time to book flights. Did tons of research. Went to book the (3) tickets advertised multiple times as the lowest fare for flights with Jetblue. Went through the process to book and when I got to the end the fare had changed about 25 each person. But they had 2 at the lower price I clicked back to purchase 2 at the lower price. Then book the third ticket at the higher price. After booking two, and attempting to book my 15 year old, Expedia website would not allow it since now he is under 18 (JETBLUE AND OTHER AIRLINES ALL ALLOW you to book a teen solo, with age requirements from 12 on up or 14 on up). Expedia puts it at 18 apparently.
SO I Called to complete the booking. The representative told me he would fix it and add my son to our reservations. I was on hold for a while. He came back and said it was out of his control in his job category but said his customer service agent above him had the power to make this change..."Please Hold." I said, "Sure." I held, and held and held, 15 minutes, to 25, to 32, finally 42 minutes later and now 11:30 pm, I had to get to bed. NO ONE ever responded and picked up.
Needless to say, the next morning, the same experience except now the one fare had jumped up about 50 dollars more than the one initially advertised. When I spoke to Expedia and told home what happened and I was in the the cancellation period (24 hours per the website) and I want to just cancel and move on with booking thru American Express on Delta which is what I should have done initially, she told me to hold. AGAIN I HELD AND HELD AND NO RESPONSE. Time is money. I hung up. Am using the two flights I purchased and went direct to JETBLUE to add my son to our reservations. Chalk up to a POOR choice to use EXPEDIA. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS VERY TERRIBLE IF ANY ISSUE arises. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I tried to book a room in Miami, Florida. I did not receive an email confirmation so I called Expedia, the Hotel, and my bank. The Hotel said I had no room, Expedia said they could not find any info with my phone number and email. My bank said there was a pending transaction with wrong three code... I told bank not to honor the transaction and called Expedia and Hotel back to let them know I had put in wrong code and no longer wish to book room. I was assured by all that it was fine and I had no room. I had just decided to go on to Miami and get a room once I was there.
All this happened at three am. And I called bank and both Expedia and Hotel back at eight the same morning. Well when I checked my back account again that night it had went from pending to paid. So I call Hotel again and they still say I don't have a room there. I call Expedia and they find no info either. When bank opens on the 20th I call and they give me the transaction code and an itinerary number. I call back to Hotel and the lady says that it was there for the day before but we were a no show and lost our money.
I call Expedia and they apologize and promise to make it right and get my money back to me so we can get a room somewhere. The lady at hotel said we could not stay in the one I had paid for because it was full of other guests. This was the second night in my car on street by a parking meter in Miami hanging on the phone while Expedia and Hotel were supposed to be getting things straight for me. I had my sister and her husband who is handicapped with me. After all night on phone again I decided that I would go to Hotel and ask why I been charged and could not stay in room. The lady said there was no manager available and would not be one until Monday. I was really upset by now and I went to police to file a report about this all.
I really felt like it was a scam, and if you are going to charge me for a room that I was told I did not have then I was told that I can't go in room because other people were in it. I did not understand why my money could not be given back. The Hotel told police for me to come back there and I would get a refund. When I get back to hotel they claim it's Expedia who has to give money back. I had Expedia on the phone and they were supposed to be getting it for me to get my family out of the car, and I stayed on the phone again with them until midnight. This was on the 21st.
Earlier that day Expedia had sent an email to correct email address. It was about hotel reservations an itinerary number. Too bad it was just a little late getting to us. Anyway after being on phone until after midnight with Expedia again and by then I knew even though they told police they were refunding my money I knew it was a lie. We spent three days in Miami at a parking meter on phone with these people while the room was sold to someone else. There did not seem to be one thing I could do about it. I was told that they would give a full refund but it would take two weeks to get on my card.
So I left Miami for the fourteen hour drive back to my home. Two weeks have come and gone and I have no money back yet. Each time I call Expedia. I am ask to hold while they call hotel manager. Each time they come back and say manager is not available and they have to call back. A lady at Expedia. Said manager was going to call her back in two hours and then she would call me. It's still not happened. These people have totally scammed me out of my money. The police even told hotel that if we were going to be charged for three days then why were other guest in our room. They just promised to refund to cop and then once he was gone it was back to we were not getting it back.
I have had my bank do a fraud claim and I know I am going to get my money back. I just think it was horrible that a company could take your money and leave you in your car for three days and then still not do one thing to make it right. The Hotel blames Expedia and says we did not show up. I gave police my phone and he could see how many times I called both Expedia and hotel and was told there was none. Then when my bank was able to give those numbers to me the Hotel says we did not show. I have receipts from parking meter that shows we were there we just got told we didn't have a room. This is horrible to do to anyone and then to just yell lie after lie instead of getting us in a room and out of the car was crazy. I am talking to attorney about this and I will continue to report them to everyone I can. Ocean Spray Hotel Miami FL and Expedia are awful and they did me very wrong.

Having Expedia make a name adjustment to a reservation (i.e., adding a middle name to an existing reservation) is a major event. 40 minute call times, an inability to find the reservation and language issues that make looking up an email a ten-minute exercise. Then another 30 minute wait to talk to someone from an airline to make the actual change. Their customer service model is broken. Being able to service a purchased product is basic table stakes and they cannot seem to get this right. I for one will not use their business again.

I have used Expedia.com to book travel for a number of years. This time, I experienced an error when submitting my transaction for purchase while using the app on my iPad. An error message/box popped up indicating that difficulty was experienced processing my transaction, and gave me the option of calling a listed customer service number or selecting a button to either Cancel or Retry. I selected Retry and after several seconds, that same message appeared. This time I selected Cancel and logged in and started over on my other mobile device without issue. Once I received a confirmation code in the app, I went directly to the airline to book seating and baggage arrangements. When checking my email several minutes later for their confirmation, I noted 2 bookings/confirmations from Expedia.com. I found out that 2 transactions were sent to my bank!
When I contacted Expedia.com to discuss the error and ask that the other transaction/confirmation be cancelled, the representative told me that I booked two times and dismissed my explanation regarding the app error, instructing me to contact the airline (for an Expedia.com error). When I asked to speak to someone regarding the system/app error and for guarantee of a full refund, I was placed on hold to speak to a manager. Many minutes later, a recording indicated that another number was created to assist me due to the high volume and the number was listed so that I could call. I called the number to find out that it was a number for the airline! After about 20 minutes, I was told that the booking was cancelled with full refund as it was within 24 hrs. I called multiple times as I never received confirmation of this cancellation as promised. I am still waiting.
The entire point of using Expedia.com in the past has been convenience. This was anything but, and I was left to fix their error. I will never use the Apple Expedia.com app again, nor will I ever book flights with Expedia.com again. I will be certain to inform others of their lack of their failure to assume accountability.

I've been emailing Expedia customer service for a very simple thing: I needed a breakdown of my airfare and hotel (the itinerary only provided the total cost) so that my company can reimburse me. 8 emails later, the answer is still they can't do it. It's strange because back in January they did exactly just that for another trip after I had called. Not gonna have my business anymore.

I had a return ticket from Norway to Angola and I needed to change the return date. I had paid $500 extra for the ticket so that it was changeable for a fee. After calling Expedia for 4 days in a row being on the phone with them for 1 hour at the time to try to change the ticket, they told me "sorry" it can not be done even though it was written on the ticket that it was exchangeable. In the end I had to buy a new ticket costing me $2000. The "we are so sorry" from Expedia is really offensive since in the end it was I as a customer that took a huge loss and the cost for Expedia was zero. I WILL NEVER BOOK WITH THEM AGAIN!!!

I have been an Expedia customer for years, but have never had to make any changes to a reservation - I guess I have been fortunate that travel plans never changed. However, with a recent very expensive family vacation package, I had to cancel one of the party due to illness and re-purchase a ticket for someone to replace her. I fully understood there would be a fare difference and JetBlue agreed to waive the $150 change fee due to it being a verified illness. JetBlue was great, but I spent over 5 hours on hold and working with multiple Expedia agents and "supervisors" to get this resolved. I will NEVER use Expedia again and certainly will NEVER book a vacation package through them. Buyer beware.

I booked a room for my daughter to visit a large University she is considering for her specialized degree. The next day we received two emails rejecting the reservation we had booked. We called both Expedia and the hotel for advice. The hotel said we had a room and Expedia said the hotel was full. Because we booked through Expedia, we believed them and booked a different hotel through their partner company, Hotels.com.
We thought everything was fine until we found the charge from the hotel through Expedia. We wrote letters, sent emails and spent countless hours on the phone trying to have this resolved. The manager we were assigned to work with actually directly lied to us saying they couldn't reach anyone at the hotel. We had no problem reaching the hotel, which was more than willing to refund us, but didn't have the ability to do so because Expedia was the merchant account which charged us. If Expedia would release the charge they were willing to refund us. Expedia refuses to refund us.
The hotel has since stopped using Expedia as they feel the company is no longer reputable and they and their customers have had too many problems with them. They have been apologetic and have offered us a night’s stay to offset our problems with Expedia. We are very very unhappy about this and find the company lacks integrity, decent morals and functional service.

My wife's aunt passed away and we traveled from San Antonio, TX to Houston, TX for the funeral. We made arrangements through Expedia and the hotel definitely was not representative of the photos on the website. And on top of that at the Motel the front desk advised us that the room we had reserved was not available and then had us go to the rooms they had available and one the rooms they had given me a key for was occupied and the key still worked and sewage was backing up into the sink.
We called customer service and they weren't able to refund our money stating that it will take two weeks but based on the service at this point I doubt that will happen so I asked for a supervisor and to speak with someone from the United States but they were not able to transfer me to the U.S. So I am now going to call my bank and dispute the charges and hopefully we can be accommodated but do not use this website. They will not subrogate for their clients. They will ask the management if they are able to refund instead of telling them that something needs to be done immediately.

I booked a hotel via Expedia & used a coupon code. Then my reservation was cancelled, because this code was only for special card holders & etc. and they didn't give me even a chance to do something with reservation, just cancelled. But it was Expedia mistake, normal companies decide problems like this without ruining their reputation & clients' plans. So I will never use Expedia and I advice you to use other reservation systems.
