SunPower customer reviews
SunPower’s reviews are generally positive. Of the 2,340 verified customer reviews on ConsumerAffairs, 75% are satisfied.
Most customers are thrilled with their solar systems and the savings they see on their electric bills. They appreciate the professionalism of the installers and the responsiveness of the company. However, some negative reviews mention issues with customer service, delays in installation and repairs, and problems with the equipment.
Here’s what some recent customers are saying about SunPower:
- “I had solar panels installed by SunPower about three years ago after hearing about them from a family member. I decided to look into solar because of the price of our local electricity and its historical interest rate. The installation process went very smoothly. I had some questions and went back and forth with the reps a few times on the design, but everything was resolved correctly in the end. I’m completely satisfied with SunPower. Since the system went online, we've had a zero electrical bill from our utility company.” — Rocky, Post Falls, ID
- “The installation of our SunPower was pretty quick. We had to have the roof redone first. I don't know if it was a company that they normally work with, but it was a very good price. It was an offer I couldn't pass up. So, we got a brand-new roof and solar for a good price. I was very happy with it. They got to it very quickly and did the job quickly and well. The woman who took care of everything was there every time I called. And if she wasn't, she called me back pretty quickly.
Going solar works really well in the summer. In the winter, not very much at all, ‘cause I guess we're far enough north that the sun is so low in the southern sky during the winter that it doesn't really do much during that time. There is some. But between cloud cover and rainy days and all that during that part of the year, it isn't too much. But during the summer, I have no electric bill. I am satisfied with my experience with SunPower.” — David, Ashland, OR
- “We signed a contract to add a battery to our solar system in September 25 in plenty of time to get done by December to qualify for the Federal credit. We scheduled for the installation and the crew was a no-show. They had been given a wrong scope. The second time also no-showed, this time the electrician that was assigned had never installed a battery. The third installation was scheduled and the crew was a no-show, this time they were driving back from California. The fourth installation was scheduled in 2026, we missed the Federal credit and got a cost reduction for ONLY half. This crew did not follow best practices. A tech was sent out a few days later to facilitate the city inspection. He damaged the battery. Two months later we are still trying to schedule the repair.” — Douglas, Anderson, SC
