Sunnova installed my Solar Panels improperly which created a massive leak into my home. That’s taking over a third of my home. I have contacted them about it. The insurance company’s inspector reached out to me and advised me that the damage occurring to my home is as a result of the improper installation of my 32 solar panels. I have not been able to get someone from Sunnova to come repair the problem or to fix their mistake. They will not return my calls, and I cannot reach them on the phone anymore. So therefore, they are not a good company.

The worst Solar Company that has ever existed in American History. They scammed me, installed panels in my roof in 2020 for a 25yrs contract. They system after a year, I called them and after so many months of working they came and and connected with no apologies and to appease me, they gave me three months free service. It did not make long in 2023, my bills started skyrocketing. I called everywhere with no answer. I later learned they were going through bankruptcy. For over two years now I am paying outrageous bills. The New Company Sun strong took over too and do not even care to notify customers properly. They transferred all billing information to them and they just continued with their exploitative harvest.
Right now, I hate very Solar company so badly I do not want to hear about them. My brand new roof I installed in 2020 is leaking now for the past three years bringing mold into my family. I am just looking for a good Lawyer to take this issue to the law and have this people come and remove this nonsense panels from my roof. Hey guys, be careful of all the scams of solar Companies. Never go for no contracts if at all you want to get one. Once you do, you are on your own. They will take their money like clockwork and when you disconnect payment, they will show up with big lawsuits then. They spend all their money on Law firms to intimidate innocent customers with no service record to show for. I am happy they are bankrupt. There has to be a way to regulate all their counterparts as well.

SunStrong assumed control of Sunnova's assets due to Sunnova filing for bankruptcy. I had autopay setup with Sunnova for over a year and we were told that would transfer over and no action was needed on our part. When the first payment was due they contacted me and said my credit card on my autopay was invalid. But what really happened was when they transferred my account the payment data was corrupted. So I updated everything and they told me my payment was processed successfully. Now one week later they are calling and texting me telling me I have missed a payment. The BBB Grade F they have must of been well earned. What an incompetent company.

Sunnova is the worst company I have ever dealt with! I contacted them to have my solar panels removed for a new roof installation. Almost $8K to have them removed and reinstalled. My new roof has been on since May - I am still waiting for my solar panels to be reinstalled! They always have an excuse - that's even if you can get through to them. They have a call center in Puerto Rico, who has horrible customer service, no accountability and no one higher than them you can speak to.
Five Months without my solar panels and a soaring electric bill with no reinstall date given. They have finally outsourced my reinstall to SolarNova, which is just as bad. I was on the schedule - we all, including Sunnova were on board with the installation date. I received a call from SolarNova that I must have written the date down wrong - forgetting the fact that Sunnova even had the same date as me - but they triple booked. The date of install, it rained. They waited until 4:15 to call me to tell me they weren't coming - at that point, I'm pretty smart, I had figured it out. You think they would have a reinstall date when they called? Nope. Two weeks later and 8 voicemails and one text - because their voicemail is now full - Still no reinstall date..
Reached out to Sunnova because I have an Executive Resolution Specialist - Lol - yeah, a glorified call center person who doesn't respond promptly either. Five months of having the eyesore of solar panels literally sitting in front of my house. Five months of little to no communication or even caring about their customer. Five months of electric bills. Buyer beware - Sunnova does not care about anyone.. It is of little shock that they filed bankruptcy! The only shock is that it didn't happen sooner.

This is by far the worst run company we have ever encountered in our lives. We signed a contract to have solar and batteries added to our home in April 2023. The system was partially installed in October of 2023, then Sunnova fired the contractor who promptly closed up shop that week. We are still waiting in October of 2025 for Sunnova to activate this system when we are in the process of selling the house. Sunnova has only called us three times to update us on the progress of the installation and that was all in 2023 while it was still being installed.
When we call customer service we are told that our system is still under construction and another team will reach out to activate our system. No one has ever contacted us since 2023. We have called to figure out how to transfer this system to the buyers and customer service tells us they are sending a message to an 'internal team' multiple times over the last two weeks. Still not a word from Sunnova. There is no one to contact other than customer service, so we are totally stuck in limbo with no recourse. This is the type of corporation that needs their charter revoked, but I know that will never happen in this country. I am so disappointed in a company that is supposed to be helping consumers choose their own energy. DO NOT DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!

They say that they are expediting my system put nothing is happening. This has been going on for 4 months and all I get is the same answer. I have talked to 5 supervisors and they do nothing. I pay my bill on time, no help. Sunnova is trying to sell their service to SunStrong Management who is no help. These people don't care. I called every month to check my meters and service to know why my bill from my electric company is so high but still getting a kick back plus sunnova is charging me monthly too. On 3 different occasions the PG&E power has gone out and at the same time the power cell Tesla Battery back up power has stop working at the same time. I have called the customer service on all three problems. The last one was on July 15th 2025 around 11 PM. Sunnova doesn't have an emergency number to call when this happens, so you have to wait until they open in the morning. Also this creates a problem during weekends when they're closed as there are not any weekend emergency contact numbers. They say that they understand our concerns. I am sick and tired of these setbacks. I would rather go back straight to PG&E and my generator that is more reliable than solar. And the fact that my solar was started in June 20th, 2022 and was not officially completed and actually running March 1st 2025!

They gave me a date of May 26th a contract was signed and advanced payment was made. I reached out to the roofer who had to make changes to install the roof and received a call on Thursday, May 22nd, 4 days before the scheduled date that they need to reschedule the solar panel removal to June 12th. I am extremely disappointed with Sunnova’s customer service and lack of accountability regarding their warranty. Half of my solar panels have been nonfunctional since October, and despite notifying them in January, they continuously delayed the repair—first to March, then to May. After multiple confirmations of the appointment, they failed to show up and did not even notify us beforehand. When we called, they simply stated that the technician assigned to our area was unavailable, forcing us to reschedule yet again.
As a result, we have gone nine months without solar power, racking up enormous electricity bills—$400 in January alone—due to their negligence. Sunnova has shown no concern for its customers, making false promises and failing to deliver. I would never recommend working with this company. They do not honor their commitments, nor do they care about providing reliable service.

Absolutely horrendous customer service in multiple departments. We had our panels installed in February of 2024. In April of 2025, they are still sitting on our house but not functioning. They were stuck for months because of a permit issue and now they are stuck again because of a permit issue. I call every month or so for an update and the update is always the same: "We're still waiting on the city to provide the permit." After consulting with the city, there is no instance in which acquiring the permit should take this long. If we could part ways with Sunnova, we would, at this point this company is more of a headache than they're worth.

This company is full of lies. We were told at signing it would cost $700 to take down the panels at any point. Four years later, we had someone come look the roof (side with no panels) and they said we need to replace the plywood on that side and shingles on both sides, they were shocked a company would have approved to put panels up with a roof that old. I called to have the panels taken down and was told it would be $6500. They did an "inspection" before installation and approved to put panels up on our roof that was 15 -20 years old. They told us the condition of our roof is not their responsibility, yet they're the professionals who said we can put panels up.
Also, we were told if we sell, we can transfer to new owners, take them down, or we can have them installed on new house if possible. That was also all lies; the new owners would have to be financially approved to take it over and if they're not, Sunnova can stop the sale. But they are being generous and offered us a buyout which they don't normally do. We can give them $19k to own the panels outright and do as we please with them. Would give zero stars if possible.

Not only is Sunnova not allowing me to claim the referrals - they won't tell me WHY! I signed a 25 year lease for my ground mount system.
