When I received the items, the solar panels’ packaging was heavily damaged. I spoke to them twice about it, but I went ahead and received the shipment. I tested each solar panel individually, and there was no visible damage. The performance of each panel all matched each other well enough. So, I didn’t see any reason to ask for any redress there.

I’m building a shop and as soon as it’s done, I’m gonna install the solar kits. I’m hopeful that it’s gonna provide ample power for my woodworking shop, battery charging and saws running. Saws run for a short period of time so they use a significant amount of energy. I plan on hooking up a well that powers my sprinkler system and water on my grass. I’m also gonna install a mini split that will have heat and air so I’m anxious to see how that works, especially how it pulls from the battery and how long it keeps it running.

Depending upon how well it does, I’m hopeful that I may create another system that powers my home. My goal is to get completely off the grid. So far, I’m very satisfied. Based on my experience, they’re trustworthy. I was able to call customer support and talk them through what I was planning to do. Based on that, they were able to select a system that was appropriately sized for my needs. I talked to another company and the system that they wanted to sell me was twice as big as the ShopSolar and cost 3 times as much.

My litmus test for ShopSolar, they passed it. They’re honest and there was no pressure to buy. They simply answered questions and said that if I needed anything else, they were here to support. Personally, I like that.

The kicker is they also want more money per panel, clear bait and switch fraud. ShopSolar claims they do not have an issue with their site, yet I challenged them to get on a Zoom meeting and I would prove it to them LIVE, right in front of their eyes, to date they have declined, so I have provided proof in screenshots that these folks are fraudulent in their business practices. The 410W panels I received (incorrectly) do seem well built and I am testing them now.

ShopSolar’s reps were helpful. I’ve done a bunch of legwork ahead of time and had it narrowed down to two different units. I decided again because of the money difference between EcoFlow and Anker. I went with the Anker system. They seem to think that was what I was interested to buy and was appropriate for my needs. When I ordered it, I had everything delivered to my door three days later, free shipping. We're talking about the main unit that's 140 pounds, and an extra battery that was another 80-something pounds. Overall, if you're interested in something in the lines of solar energy, at least give ShopSolar a good look over in terms of price.

We contacted them in November. It took all winter long for them to determine that the inverter needed to be checked. This after back and forth so many times. Now we have to pay to have it shipped back, and if they determine nothing is wrong we have to pay to have it shipped back to us. How will we know if something was wrong with it (aside from the fact that it doesn't work in the cold). Sending it back in the summer doesn't make sense. And taking their word for it if it turns out nothing is wrong. But it is we didn't have power all winter.

I’ve never done solar before so there was a learning curve. I reached out to ShopSolar when going through the programming and trying to do updates. I learned it would have been much more convenient if I’d have stayed in the house with the LiFePO4 batteries. But I didn’t know that. I love my system though.

It’s a farmhouse, three-bedroom, 1,400 feet. Initially, I had load for the entire house to see how the 6,000-watt inverter would act and how long it could stay charged. The house is completely electric and that did not work. I love my EG4 and I’m leaning toward getting another one, but there’s just too much of a demand. It’s been around a while and they’ve thought of everything.

If you know how to look at the data, you could hook up a device and see what it demands right then and there. Click “Update” and it could show you exactly 1,100 watts. The heat pump in this thing, because of the cold, was drawing 43 amps. And then you’ve got a hot water heater that’s drawing 24 amps. Then you got a stove that’s drawing 50 amps. There’s no way all that can work on 6,000 watts, which is 50 amps.

It was as simple as let me first upgrade this panel, which you’re running into things. But they have to come here. If I don’t pay the electric bill, I bet they will cut it off. But they couldn’t come and disconnect. Which as an electrician, we just find another route, which really was a blessing. So, instead of installing a new panel, I put in a subpanel.

In that subpanel, which is the load from the inverter, I put the hot water heater. Through this winter, it would kick on every hour, trying to warm up 40 gallons of water. And you’re sitting in bed and drawing 24 amps every time it does it. So, the hot water heater, the microwave, my bedroom and the lights ar ein there. So, even if power does go out, which has happened once, I still have my essential circuits. My bill has dropped from $464 a month to about $105.

I wish I had gotten the LiFePO4 American batteries. The RUiXU are Japanese or Chinese batteries, which they point you to the forum to answer all your questions. There are no RUiXU 48-volt 100-hour battery with the EG4 6000 people in the forum. So, I was the only one. So, I gotta email this Wang. And then he emailed the link back in a couple of days to update my batteries so they can communicate with the EG4.

I attached my laptop to the batteries and tried to update them individually and then I emailed them back and go on the phone. Couple of days later, I got the answer. The updates depend on which type of inverter I’m using.

But it wasn’t a ShopSolar issue. Until two weeks ago, the lowest state of charge is 20% up to 90% or 95%. I wanted to do a full cycle of the battery. And it wouldn’t go past 80% charging. So, I called ShopSolar. That’s when I wish I had gotten those batteries.

What we did was put it on that state of charge, but volt lead-acid batteries. And I can control the amount of charge that goes to that battery. I don’t know if they realize it, but if you go to your app and open the EG4 app and click “Firmware update”, you can actually see the state of charge, even though your program is set for lead-acid voltage, 58 volts.

Overall, ShopSolar is responsive. You definitely get a reply and answer. They’ve got some restrictive work hours but other than that, they’re a good company. They stand behind their products and they’re knowledgeable.

I love those plugin cable attachments from the battery to the inverter. They were 1- or 2-watt with the nice plug on it. They do not fit the 48-volt RUiXU battery but they fit the stackable case to put the batteries in so I had to return that. I got a $153 refund though.

Right now, I could definitely run an entire day. Yesterday I was in Richmond all day, and then I came back and saw the hot water heater kicked on. But if you cut it off, you gotta warm up 40 gallons of ice cold water. So, you don’t wanna cut it off.

The EG4 allows you the opportunity to actually view each appliance in your house. Everything’s electric in my house, the electric stove, refrigerator, microwave, hot water heater, dryer, washer, AC. There’s no gas or propane.

I was on their website when I worked with Matt, so that way, I could see. I was still trying to figure out what I wanted, so I had to call for help finishing up my order, and he was there with the last little parts of what I needed to do. It went really well. They're good folk.

Delivery was good. It came pretty fast. There was one problem, though, with the solar panels themselves. There was three different shipments from different people. Basically, you can’t get a tractor trailer up here. I call it Snake Road because it’s an S road with very tight turns all the way up for six miles. They don’t even allow tractor trailers on it. I’m on a dead-end street with no turnaround and no driveway. You can’t get a tractor trailer down here, even box trucks are sometimes tight. It's 2,000 feet up in the air. Even with a car, you have to make a lot of tight turns. It’s a strain on a lot of cars.

I tried talking to the company, but I had to talk to the driver. I gave them all the details about the problems. I kept telling the company, “You can’t come up here,” but they wouldn’t listen. The company sent the driver. It wasn’t the driver himself. He wasn’t knowledgeable of the area, so I had to tell him. The guy came the first day and I said, “Don’t even bother.” Where the first driver was, he was heading up where I call Snake Road. He would have got jammed with that tractor trailer and they’d have to shut the road down for a day. I told the company, “This is what happens when people try to come up here with the wrong kind of vehicle. I know. I live here.” I don't know why they wanted to bring it up in a tractor trailer. The solar panels came in a big crate. Finally, the next day, the guy came with a box truck and he was able to get in. Other than that, everything else came up, no problem. ShopSolarKits is the place to go buy something.

For the middle of wintertime, delivery was good. We had a storm that week. They rang my phone at each step. One guy couldn't make it on Tuesday last week because of the ice storm. Another guy showed up on Friday with the panels, and this guy showed up yesterday with the rest of the parts. I think it was two weeks altogether, but for the crap weather coming out of Texas, I can't complain. The guys were very professional. I talked to the guy about my generator to make sure I had enough watts to handle charging the battery for off-grid, and it does.

The representative gave me a pretty good deal. I priced it out, and ShopSolar was about four grand cheaper than another company, and he cut me a deal on shipping. When I was trying to do it online, I ran my credit card through and forgot I had fraud protection, so it didn’t go through. I called ShopSolar to make sure I didn't double-run it. The representative went over it with me and still gave me the discount on the order. I'm happy with that.

I haven't had time to hook it up yet, so I'm still going to have to call them up toward the tail end as I'm doing the install, but it’s pretty basic. When I put in the panels, I had to really learn about volts because it’s a different ball game.

The first unit I got had a problem, I called ShopSolar and they took care of it immediately. The representative stuck with me every single day until I got another unit. The prices are fair compared to anybody else I looked at. But even if it's a little bit higher, I'd go back with ShopSolar because of the customer service.

The generator itself works excellently; we tested it, and everything is functioning perfectly. There’s nothing I would change about the experience. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase from ShopSolar.

I encountered an issue with FedEx delivering my order; the driver signed for it and took off without delivering it. However, I spoke with the FedEx supervisor and sorted it out. I suggested to Shop Solar Kits that they use plain packaging to avoid such incidents.

Ensure everything is confirmed before proceeding with the purchase. Currently, I have not installed the solar system as I'm still waiting to purchase another battery to adequately meet my needs. The initial setup they provided isn't enough to power what I intend to run.

The shipment was fast, arriving in multiple deliveries over a few days. Although we haven't been able to install it yet due to the snow at our cabin location, the company provided a 24-hour service line, detailed instructions, and a comprehensive breakdown of every part shipped to us. They made the process as straightforward as possible.

Overall, I'd rate my experience with Shop Solar Kits as excellent and would highly recommend them.
