When the lady called and said, "Joe, this is your bill," the one thing I said to her made her laugh. I said, "I hope I'm not the guy on the 5 o'clock news trying to tell people how I sent $14,000 to someone in Utah and I've never heard from them again."

We chose to do the install ourselves and Project Solar provided the plans, obtained the permit, and sent almost all the parts we needed. Install was a breeze and we passed inspection the first time. I had bounced around the idea of going solar for years. I wanted a diy friendly setup and it seemed everyone knew they couldn't charge me an arm and a leg if I did my own installation. When I found Project Solar they offered to have someone install my setup if I wanted but were there every step after I said I'd install myself. I am a member in a few solar diy pages on Facebook and share my experience with Project Solar and let people know some of the things they need to ask and be aware of. I live in Texas. The first electricity contract zeroed out every month and there were certain things I couldn't use my overproduction credits towards. They guaranteed I was paying a bill every month. The company I'm with now allows me to use my credits for every part of the bill and if there's a credit it is used towards the next month's bill. That's the one part about solar I wasn't prepared for, finding the best contract.
