ION Solar has been good. Their price was fair and the product is equitable. The sales guy was super informative. The door-to-door sale was effective, but they could do more in terms of marketing and getting their product out to the general public. I did have some technical difficulties right after getting the product installed, but they were quick about sending out a tech to fix it. They did get it fixed easily. Going solar has been good so far. We're producing an excess every month.

The enrollment process at ION Solar was good. The people who came and talked to me were very informative. They were really nice, good to talk to and it was easy. The signing-up process took an hour. The installation was also quick and very non-invasive. They were out there and got it done. They talked to me through it and let me know what they were doing before they did. It was good. I love everything. Everything's been great. I'm so happy.

The sales guy was polite and very informative and the installers were professional. They installed the system and its components where I needed them installed. But they didn't clean up after themselves and left a bunch of screws and stuff on my driveway, which I almost got in my tires. Other than that, my experience has been good. There's an app that shows you where you're at in the installation. Ion is a good deal. Since the installation, my power bill has been down.

I have better plans but I went through ION because I heard good things and after using it, I was not satisfied. I don't think the panels are producing enough and the system is not even producing half of my usage. I have reached out to the contract person who sold us this and he asked me to send the production usage and the current electric bill but I haven't received any response after that.

The first person I met from ION was a scheduler and then scheduled an appointment with a sales rep. It was pleasant. I didn't have any problems with the interactions with them. I first dealt with them for the first installation a few years ago. This round of installation was done five months ago. I got more panels added and they were saying they could do 100% solar, which was okay, but why wouldn't they do that upfront the first time? But going solar with ION has been perfectly fine. I have no complaints.

Everything was quick and easy, organized, and ION Solar was a good deal. It was presented well and clearly. The rep had his tablet out while we made him dinner, and he sat down and ate dinner with us and went over everything. It went better than expected. We were looking to get the system installed in May of 2023 and they called us with an open cancellation slot. So we got bumped up to March and we were already cooking a couple of months earlier than we thought that we would be. And Also, the whole installation process was well communicated as far as the timetable and when everyone would come out.

I would open up the app once or twice a day and see where we were at. Sometimes even more than that and see where we were at as far as consumption and production. It shows how much I produce by the minute, by the hour, all day. My electric bill is right around the same as what it would be, maybe a bit less for right now. The monthly payments are the same as they would be if we use electric because we're energy-efficient anyway. So, it would be financially the same.

I talked with ION Solar and they were a little higher in price but I wasn't comfortable with the other places. Setting up the solar was simple and the salesperson was extremely knowledgeable, which was another reason I went with ION. The installation went well but I'm waiting for the service people right now. I'm a little disappointed. The system was rated at 7.6 kw. The best I have seen, even on a nice, sunny day, is 5.3. It's not producing what it should. I'm probably losing money every day.

A guy from ION Solar came by the house and he knocked on the door. He was really informed. We sat down and talked and he explained a lot of things to me about how the solar is taking over the electric company and how five years from now, the energy companies are gonna be going up about 5% every year over the next so many years and I was really impressed with it. As far as the installation goes, they did a good job. They were in and out in about a couple of hours. They were professional. I would recommend ION extremely highly myself.

ION Solar knocked on my door and pitched going solar to me. They had a Powerpoint ready to go on their iPad. And they had visual aids. It was enthusiastic. They buried their pitch in certain areas to highlight certain key aspects that were hot topics. It was a good pitch. The person was well groomed. He was articulate, so that helped. And if he didn't have the answer to a question, he followed up immediately within a day or two to answer the question that I had about the product. He did his job well. And I bought based on the facts that he provided.

The installation was seamless. I was at work the entire time. My wife was there, but she said that they only asked her to open up the garage door so they could access our panel. Other than that, she heard a bit of noise on the roof. And they were done within a day. There were some permits that needed to be done to get the system hooked up to the grid. That took another three or four days. All in all, the installation process was a month, which included a slight delay from my HOA and processing the paperwork.

My payment for the solar panels are the bare minimum to cover interest only. It is not making any payments on the principal to bring down the loan. The rep told me that my payment would be a certain amount, but he didn't clearly state I would only cover the interest. So, if I don't pay any more than what is on auto pay, I would keep paying this amount for the rest of my life.

That needs to be drawn out for individuals like myself who don't crunch numbers so well so they understand that if I don't pay any more than my minimum payment, I would never pay this loan down. So, I will do what they recommended, which is something with the taxes. They give $15,000 back. Pay that down so that I would begin to start paying the loan down. But if someone else didn't do that option and chose to keep that $15,000 as a tax break, he would never pay that loan down. He would just keep paying that money, thinking he was paying it down. Three years would go by, he would look at his loan amount, and it would be the same $40,000 he started off with.

It was just a lack of questions on my part. The rep gave me the answer to the question I asked, “What would my monthly payments look like?” But I didn't ask, “Does this include the principal? Is this a standard payment or is this just covering the interest?” I didn’t ask that question. It would help out other consumers out if they stated that upfront. Also, I wish we would bring our power bill down a little more. That way, we have no power bill. But our power consumption is high, especially with the AC going all day. Other than that, I'm very satisfied with my solar panels.

ION Solar was knocking around the neighborhood and they came around our house. We were wanting solar for a long time and they had a good price because it could be expensive. There were a lot of miscommunications so it took a while for us to get everything installed. We were waiting for the approval of our HOA. But the installers did good. They came, did their jobs and left. The solar was to eliminate our utility bill. We paid $20 after two months but after that, it went off the roof. We're upset because I don't think the solar is even doing its job. I tried contacting ION. They never taught me how to use the app and connect it to the WiFi. I don't get how I'm getting billed for $150 electricity and then, I'm still getting taken out 120 for the solar. So, I'm paying even double for nothing. This email game is not working out. People should try somewhere else because ION Solar doesn't help out.

The reps were very knowledgeable and had a great line of communication with us. They explained everything in detail. The installation was done within a day so it was easy. It was scheduled in advance and they came and were on their way. The only thing is, what we were promised on still having just a hook-up fee with the electric department was not what we were told. It was a $30 connection fee to United Power but we have a flat $60 with them that we have to pay, even though we're not using any of their electricity. They were completely producing it. So that was a little bit more that we weren't fully aware of. It was not conveyed correctly to us. And even though we're not using United Power's electricity, we are being charged for demand charges for using power during peak times of the day even though it's our electricity that we're generating. I’m not happy with our utility electric company but I'm happy with ION.

I received a very large bill from my electric company for $324. I was officially online with Ion and have been billed twice in June & July for the panel monthly loan payment of $81. I was told my electric bill would be around $10/month as they would have some normal charges. I was paying the electric bill based on 12 month average which was usually between $155-165. So, cutting my bill in half and getting an incentive to help with the environment is a win win. I am retired and need to cut corners where I can.

So when I received the email from my electric company for $324, I reached out to Ion Solar to get help. I can't to be paying both bills on my budget. After sharing my account details, Ion told me that they would look into it. Instead of calling me back, they texted me that everything was normal and that my duplex was using too much energy, more than the panels can handle. Well, I was promised my bill would be cut in half not doubled and still paying for the panels on top of that. That is not normal. I answered the text message asking for them to call me and left my phone number. Nothing. 2 days later I called, but I couldn't get through now. I left an urgent message, but it's been 5-6 days and no call back.

Horrible customer service. I can't afford to pay these bills each month on top of my other payments. I'm in a very serious financial burden and all I can do is write bad reviews all over the internet until they help me. I have included my Dominion Energy Electric bill and some graphs from my account page that I sent to Ion Solar upon their request.

But the quality of the solar panels is poor. ION Solar told us in the sales pitch that it would drastically reduce our electric bill, and it would cover most of our household needs. I have been on for a month and our electric bill has gone up. So, it hasn't helped. My husband called today. They said there's a ramp up period, which is not how electricity works. They told us that as soon as it was on, it would work. But it doesn't appear to be that way. I was disappointed in that.

Hunter, the guy from ION Solar, came in here and talked about it, and we decided to give it a try to see. He said the price is fixed until we finish paying for it. We went by his word, and hopefully, it doesn't change, because people say things. It's the third month now. For now, I'm dissatisfied because I don't get a response when I ask for something. I called the number once to ask some questions. No one got back to me, and it's been about a month already. I'm trying to figure out how this app thing works and how to read and understand what I'm looking at. I don't know what I'm looking at. So, what's the point for me looking at an app?

Aside from that, there was a time when the power went out in the whole street, and I'm trying to figure out how mine got affected as well. Why would mine go off if it's solar? Maybe I'm getting it wrong or something. They don't have solar. I didn't hear from anybody when I called ION. It's like it's okay to keep withdrawing the payments, but you can't get any help or questions answered when you have questions that you need to be answered. I just keep waiting for the bill to show up and pay, but in terms of talking to somebody, that's hard to do because nobody calls, and if you call, you never hear anything. So, I'm stuck paying for something, but I can't get any help when I need it.

The only thing that was an inconvenience was the local power company taking a long time to come back out to turn our power back on. The app would tell me what I need to know. It seems to be honest in what it does, and it's simple enough that I can navigate it and not feel like I'm lost all the time.

The estimated power versus actuality differed more than what I would have liked. But some of that was because of the Tesla. Two weeks after I bought the system, I ended up buying a Tesla as well. So, I am using more than I originally told them I would use. ION Solar is missing some of the options that some of the competitors have such as they don't have the option to lease. ION Solar representatives stopped at the door and then, I scheduled a representative to come later to my home and do a demonstration for me and my wife. It was a very good presentation. The young gentleman showed us information regarding the solar panels that he had on a previous house that he had just sold. We asked a lot of questions and he was very informative and patient with us. The installation took four months and took a little bit longer than normal. But I'll take the responsibility for that because my HOA and I were going back as far as the requirements and what they needed or what they wanted from me.

During the first phase of the installation, the technicians came out to survey the home. The two guys went throughout to check the attic to make sure that there was no water damage or leaks, and to make sure that the group was in good condition. They took pictures and sent us all the information. They emailed it to us for our records, showed us all the pictures and answered all our questions. Once I got everything straightened out with the HOA and they approved it, there was another technician who came out. There was also a Dominion Energy representative who looked at the box, to make sure everything was accurate, that Dominion was able to turn off the power on the current system and that everything was good and connected with ION Solar.

I received the approval probably two days after that review by the Dominion Energy representative and also ION Solar. Three days after that, I saw the email saying that everything had been approved and I could energize my system. So, I turned it on. I downloaded ION Solar’s app and I go through and review the amount of power that the house is using as well as the power that the house has put back into Dominion Energy's system. The only thing with the app is, it is only set up for one person. I'm the only one who has this app and my wife is not able to upload the app on her phone so that she can set up her own password and use the same user ID. But it’s not a big deal. She has all of my passwords so I’d just give her the password and explain it to her.

We had about 50 different solar people coming to our door every single day. We talked to about seven other solar companies before ION, and they were super used car salesman-type people. When the ION guy showed up, he was very not a salesman. He was no pressure. He showed us everything. It wasn't like a sales pitch. It didn't feel like any pressure. He just said what they could do, did everything, and it was really cool.

As far as the install, they had to go through a lot of stuff. From the time we signed to the time they installed, it took two months max. It took about a month and a half to get through the utility company. There were four other things we had to go through. They did most of the installation in one day, and then it got too hot. So, they said they would come back the next day to finish. They sent me a photo of my panels. One of the guys that installed it took a photo.

I saw all the stuff on the side of the house when I went to activate it. The activation was easy. They had a step-by-step with images of what to do. I just had to go out there and switch off something and switch on something. Then I installed the app on my phone and it immediately started showing me the kilowatts. I've only used it a few times because it only gives me like kilowatt information. So, I'm just waiting on bills, which I just got today. I'm gonna call them about it because I don't think I should have gotten one because we've been live for a couple of months now. The bill is the same as it used to be. So, there's a mistake somewhere.

I had already been considering solar for years. We had a sales associate from ION Solar come to our door and asked to talk about it. We had a discussion, and everything that they were presenting seemed reasonable. We did our own research and ended up thinking that they were a good company to go with. For the most part, it was a relatively smooth process. We had a couple of hiccups, but they got addressed in a timely manner. Their reps are very diligent and very responsive with the conversations we had and then following up. I did have one issue where somebody didn't double check what they submitted to the town for approval, and that caused a delay in our scheduling. Still, overall, our experience has been really good. We've been tracking things through the app and have been getting very good input on the panels. Everything's been going really smoothly.

My experience switching to ION was fine. The system is up and running and doing what it's supposed to do, which is good.

ION Solar has been incredible and their customer service is awesome. Switching over to solar was smooth. We had it installed twice and I’m wondering when the checks from Dominion Power would start. It’s only been up about six weeks. The last utility bill was lower. It was $8.

ION has a reputable history and you gotta pay for what you want. They charge a little bit more but you get what you pay for. I had 155 panels installed and it took a few hours. I'm considering purchasing two more panels. I got everything I wanna know about solar panels so the website was good.

Everything works great. But my huge source of disappointment is that I was told by the ION rep that this would take away our electricity bills. Unless you consume more power than you produce, you're only going to pay the cost of your panels. So I signed up but now I'm paying for the solar panels and my power company is charging me a minimum fee of $45 a month, even though I'm never using as much as I produce. I was also told by my ION rep that I would be getting credit for the extra power that I've used but it never happened. The year closed and nothing came back to me in terms of credit. I received a tax credit, but that's beside the point. I reached out and talked to the ION rep but I've not heard anything back since. I'm not happy with ION. They should be honest when they're speaking with consumers that this is something that you should expect.
