The installation of our Ion Solar was very quick and painless. They've been very helpful as well.

The enrollment process at ION Solar was easy. They were very helpful. The installation was good also. The guys came in on time. They made sure everything was done properly. They were also able to answer whatever questions I had when they showed me what they did. Everything was clear. Really professional guys. Within a few months, I was up and running. I'm gonna shift the bill from the electric company to the solar company. At least afterwards after I paid off the full system, I'll be pretty much independent from the power company. I would definitely recommend them to other people.

The presentation of the sales rep of ION Solar was informative. It was good and well-designed. We were happy with it enough to decide to go with the product. Everything was super smooth in the installation. I was impressed with how quick they were and how prepared everything was. They would give me a date and I would say, okay. They would have someone come out and check out the attic. A couple of weeks later, they were here installing. It was very well done. My electrical bill is significantly lower now. But you've got the bill for the panels to make up for it. Their app also feels clunky and it's not very well polished.

The dude who sold me the ION Solar was cool. His name was Noe. Everything went fine. However, they were supposed to come paint the conduit but they didn’t. They didn’t paint the one on the roof. For the one on the side of the house, they didn’t have paint for it and I had to use my paint and they put it on with a brush and it looks like **. But it’s all right. It is what it is.

I'm a previous customer of Ion and I liked the previous model with the critter guard, so I stayed with them. The sign-up was easy and we were able to sign up within an hour. The sales rep was able to explain everything accordingly. There was a long wait time for the installation, though. There was a little bit of delay for getting approval. But they told me that they'd be installing it before the year's end and they were able to achieve it. After installation, the grid is running good state so far. The price is a little bit higher when I compared them with other places but I am happy with Ion.

ION Solar didn't treat me well. After they installed everything, they gave me a time that somebody will come and turn it on but nobody showed up. I had to go online, read about it and turn the thing on myself. All they did was put their panels up and the wiring. Initially, when the software was installed, I could tell how much units I used in the house, how much kilowatts were sent and how much kilowatts were produced. After a couple of weeks, all I could see was how much I produced. I couldn't see how much was sent.
I called them and asked what was going on. They told me if I paid $500, they were gonna bring me a net meter that could tell me those. That's after paying them 45,000. It's insulting. I checked Enphase web page and that thing doesn't even cost $200. They could have easily done that to appease the customer but none of them was able to assist. They danced around the issue. I wish I had known this is the way they do business. I wouldn’t have gotten involved with them. I thought it was a good deal. But if you compare the prices in the market and what I was offered, I was screwed. I was thinking of buying a battery, but I have to look at somewhere else to buy a battery to attach to the system.

The first month I used the panel, my bill was higher than the normal. I called ION Solar to have someone try to explain to me about that, but I'm frustrated because nobody could give me some good news. When the agent came in to trying to sell the solar panels, they put in many beautiful things in my mind. But when I needed some information, the agent never answered. That is not fair. I never try to tell my friends, “Pass for this one” because I'm so mad with ION Solar.

ION Solar needed approval from our electric provider and the county. Once all those approvals got done, everything was okay. The installation was pretty easy. Their reps showed up one day with a crew, got up on the roof and through the crawl space in the attic, and put the panels on the roof. They cleaned up the mess they made. Since then, we haven't really heard from them. We filed our taxes and we're wondering if there's supposed to be some sort of a tax credit. And we had no way of getting that tax credit as I had lost our salesman's information. Other than that, our electric is cheaper since we went solar.

The process with ION Solar was good. It was seamless and as expected. The installers were good. They took two hours, which was a little shorter than I thought it was going to take. We got the first bill. It was $100 less.

Their rep offered me a deal and explained to me how it works and how it would be advantage for me to get it. I was interested and the installation was pretty fast. The contractor knew what they were doing and they explained to me what they were gonna do and how long it was gonna take. It was a good experience and I'm really satisfied so far.

I referred my neighbor to ION Solar and they purchased the solar plan. I did the referral that they gave me through the website and my neighbor's solar's been installed but I still haven't received my referral. So I'm not happy with that. I also wish that I have been offered the storage battery packs with the package. I see other companies now are coming out with storage batteries with the solar. So at night when there's no solar, you can draw off the power instead of going back to the grid and pulling power. But other than that, it's nice that I'm making more power than I'm using. It's also nice not seeing the utility bill other than the grid access fee. The fact that I will only be paying $38 a month no matter how much electricity I use is going to be a big impact as the time goes on. The way that the app works is great, too.

I used ION Solar in Nevada and when I moved to Colorado, I called them up. This time, we've been on it a couple months and we haven't had a single issue. Their reps did the update very well. They came out. They did what they had to do, cleaned up afterwards, and turned the system on. So, everything is good.

The rep came over and gave us a full brief on ION Solar, and told us what we would get, and how much it would cost, how they would set it up. And it went smooth from there. My electric bill was up to 250. My last electric bill this month is $19. Each month, it has gone down a little. As the summer months come on and there's more sun outside, it has gotten a lot better.

ION Solar's team was polite and kind. A gentleman walked to my door. He was polite and professional, and he did his best. He's at a very young age. I told him, "No matter what I was gonna do, whatever the project you have, I will take it." He said, "It's solar." The idea was good. The next day, he made the appointment with the sales rep to come to my home. Everything was cool.
When he gave me the presentation, he told me we will supply some extra, and there is a secret account to be opened and to be connected with my account. And no matter what we gonna supply extra, every month should be $50, $25, $30, $10 or something. Now, it has been months. My account has been there for a while, but I never received a penny to be deposited for me. Other than that, we are happy with our solar being useful for the home. Financially, it's the same cost. I'm not getting a big difference financially. But it's divided to two places between the loan of the solar and the electricity. But for the long run, it's good. I'm extremely happy.

Things went well and smooth with ION Solar. They were able to finish the installation on time and things went as planned. And the good part was whatever have been promised during the initial talks, they made sure that they had done those things. So, I'm quite happy with that. But at the moment, I'm still facing some issues with regard to the reporting. Once in a while, I'm able to see some spikes while the system is reporting the power. When I talked to their partner, she was feeling like that is happening while there is an update on the system. But that is inconvenient because it affects the total calculation of how much power has been made. Also, nowadays, the power generation is less, but I'm assuming that is because of the cloudy days.
I also observed after the system was installed that there is a limitation on it where at any given point of time, the max power which the inverter is able to handle is just 5.3 kilowatt, even though it's a 7.8 kilowatt system. I was expecting that at the peak sunlight, the system must be able to generate somewhere around 7.8. I agree that all the time it will not be like that, but I have seen that there's a clear cut-off and I want to know why that is like that.

I made a mistake with going solar. There's not enough heat where I live in Willamina, Oregon to make a difference. Also, I don't have air conditioning in there, and so I don't know what solar is trying to do. We're getting a little bit better solar for right now, but that doesn't mean much. Plus, we’re not gonna need that much because we're gone mostly during the summer. I wouldn't recommend it for where I live. I don't have any problems with Ion, though. Although what I see wrong is they're trying to sell something that shouldn't be sold necessarily to people that don't have a lot of heat. They were really excited about getting me signed up for it.

If you're thinking about implementing solar, ION Solar would be the company that you should choose. They're very communicative. The presentation was very detailed, informative and helped us decide to go solar. Also, The installation was seamless. They were done within a day. The biggest disruption was just the power occasionally going out. But they were good about communicating, "I'd expect it to be down for another 15 minutes." So, it wasn't anything that they were doing was a major surprise.
ION Solar sticks to their deadlines. Most recently, after a week that we went live, we experienced some breaker going out and we knew that it was due to turning our solar on. We had a technician come out within three business days and was able to install new breakers. That issue has been resolved. So, they were great to work with in that aspect too. We didn't anticipate issues right after going live, but they were quick to resolve them.

Between the first meeting with the sales rep and the final installation, the process with ION Solar took a month. It was a lot quicker than I expected. The turn-on was different because of Dominion but the actual installation process wasn't too bad. The installers were in and out quickly. If I didn't know they were there, I probably wouldn't have realized it. I had some other issues with my power company originally, so the changes haven't quite gotten to the point where it has shown on my statements yet. But just going off of what is produced versus what I'm pulling from the grid, those numbers are drastic in comparison. I was provided a link to a website where I could sign in and it gives me all of those numbers whenever. From the summary that the rep gave me, the estimates were more or less what I was already paying for my power. So with the solar, it’s hopefully gonna be knocked down quite a bit.

Somebody from ION came over and asked if I was interested on solar panels. I was hesitant because I had a bad experience with another solar company, but he explained everything exactly how it was gonna happen. They also offered an app and in that app, I could see the process where the installation was. He also gave us another option which is more manageable and I could see everything. It's simple to read and to see. They left their phone number and they have it on the app. All the information was there if I have a problem.
I never had any questions because everything was happening accordingly and how they explained it was gonna happen. The other thing that I like is that they did everything. The only thing was I had to check up at the HOA about the approval and forwarded the letter to them. Going solar has been good so far. We see a difference because we have an app where we can see how much we're producing and how much we're using from the actual electric company. Everything is there.

ION Solar was just first class. Everybody all through the chain of command from front line sales all the way to the operations and people that installed everything, everybody was great. They reached out to us and we were happy with what they presented and what they did. They had the information right in front of us and we could look at the savings projection. It made sense for how it all works. The install was very easy and the communication was great. They kept us updated the whole time and they took care of the steps where they had to reach out to Xcel Energy and get permission from our HOA. It made it really easy for us.
I just got my first Xcel Energy bill and I can see that we're producing most of the electricity that we need. Also, there's an app on my phone that I can use to monitor it. We have not turned the air conditioner on yet, so it might look a little bit different when we turn it on. But right now, I'm very happy. We would highly recommend them.

Everybody from ION we worked with had been great. Installation went fine. We have yet to flip it on ourselves. If I were to give one caveat of the experience, it was that I was under the impression that they would install the new thermostat and flip it on entirely for us. We just got instructions in the mail of how to complete that process ourselves. The other thing I still need to figure out is I did receive like an update on our loan for the solar. I was told that our rate will never change from 94 a month, but what I've got in the mail is a little bit confusing. It looks like it might go up by about $40 in the next 15 months. So, I need to call the sales guy we were working with and ask about that.

ION Solar's sales presentation was in depth. The salesman had a tablet and he was showing us different examples of different solar panels. He was very knowledgeable of the whole thing and he answered all our questions. With them, nothing's contracted out. From the install to the people we call after the equipment is installed, everything's pretty much through ION. And I like that a lot because I don't want to have three different numbers and three different companies to call for three different things. But I would like them to have a little improvement in helping me figure out exactly what everything means.
Other than that, they did everything for us to get things set up and for the installation, it was simple and the reps came in the house two times for it. I got 14 panels and I know that the system is up and running because they have an app and you can see it there. The app is self-explanatory. There's not a lot to it, but for someone like me who likes everything at their fingertips, it's a good thing to have, just to check real quick.

The overall experience with ION Solar was good. For the most part, the process was easy. There were some things that were a little confusing especially the actual transition from the regular power to the solar power. But I didn't have to deal with it a whole lot because I was out of town and their reps ended up doing it all for me. The customer service was very good and explaining the cost ratio benefit was very beneficial. There was something in their calculations where they were doing the cost-basis returns. And later on, I figured they forgot to take into consideration their interest in something and I pointed that out to them the next time I saw them. But it still worked out. The cost basis ratio was still in my favor. I cannot utilize the power that I'm generating during a power outage and I understand the reasoning behind it but I’m still not happy about that. Also, the price is way too expensive.

The installers were in and out. They were really professional. They came as I was leaving for an appointment and I was gone about an hour and a half and came back and they were finished with the installation.
Then, the main electrician was making sure that everything started up right. They went around and they picked up all of their little pieces of wires. You couldn't even tell that they had been there. ION Solar installed everything and then one of the other installers told me that someone was going to walk me through everything that was being installed on the outside and the inside of my house. But it wasn't into much detail. It was very brief and to me, it appeared like the person didn't really know what they were talking about when I asked very specific questions about what was installed outside and inside. They need a little more training to be able to pass on to the customer what is being installed on their house. But so far, they've been attentive.
I use the Enphase app and it's very user-friendly. The app is telling me that there's an error with the meter measurements, which I'm assuming that maybe that's the reason that a lot of the production is off. It looks like it's mirroring what I'm using, what is being produced, and what the solar panels are saying that is being absorbed. There was no way for me to troubleshoot it on the outside. So I called ION and they're gonna send somebody out to let me know what's going on with the system.

ION Solar uses dishonest and pressure-oriented sales techniques. The ION sales representative repeatedly confirmed that we would be able to cancel for any reason without any fees. We were then guided through a lengthy video that we had to confirm our understanding of. After the videos, we were presented with the documentation to sign. The sales representative reassured us that we could sign the documents without reading them as “everything in the documents was already reviewed in the video”. I recognize that not reading the documents was fully on my part. However, the deceptive techniques used by the sales representative is on the company and is demonstrative of ION’s ethics. I made several attempts to explain the situation and the response to our initial email to ION was met with a threat to send to collections within 30 days.
Additionally, anyone considering doing business with this company should be aware that ION will begin the work prior to the customer accepting the loan agreement. This is what happened to us. Once we got the loan agreement, we realized that the APR was ridiculously high and decided not to move forward. ION had already completed the site survey and design which automatically triggered the cancelation policy. The manager I spoke to indicated that they consider this to be “buyer’s remorse” despite the fact that we did not accept the terms of the loan which would have been a requirement for “buying” anything from them.

I signed with ION Solar 4 months ago and have had panels on my roof for 9 weeks (doing nothing) and I have no idea when my solar system will be powered on. ION have ignored many of my messages and escalations have led nowhere aside from being told they appreciate my frustration and repeating to me what the timelines should have been. When they have replied, they provided half-truths. For example... they told me the City of Henderson has asked for 'additional documentation' when, in fact, their submission was rejected by the City and ION had to resubmit again. They then told me inspections were complete just to tell me, the next day, that another inspection is necessary!
And for the cherry on the cake... I have been charged the monthly finance fee for the panels - so my energy costs have actually INCREASED with ION Solar. This is not what I was sold or signed up for. I don't recall the Sales Guy mentioning my costs will go up during his sales pitch. Not sure of the legal terminology when you are sold something opposite of what you actually get. Tried to get out of the contract a month ago to let another company take over but was told breaking the contract is not an option. Not sure if that is true. Am currently seeking other dissatisfied customers to gather evidence for a possible legal claim against ION Solar.
