December 2011 I opened a small business in the Seattle area. I was contacted by Bank of America that I needed to set up a merchant service account. As naive as I was and sort of stupid in my part, I was under the impression that Bank of America was operating their own merchant service as big as they claim themselves to be in the nation. It was not until one month later that had discovered that Bank of America had some type relationships with First Data global Leasing Company. In other words, every time I closed my batch by the end of the night, Bank of America was not the processor that money would go straight to merchant service before it got deposited to my checking account. With that being said, Bank of America was collecting money from my accounts for useless fees WHILE first FAKE Data Global leasing was collecting their portions from that account.
When I sat down with that Lady named (Shelby something like that) in her office who represented First Data Global Leasing/Bank of America at one of the banking centers signing those documents regarding that little credit card processor. Her pathetic words to me was just like "that you have two options, 1- you could either purchase the machine for 800.00 dollars or 2- if you do not have the money to pay it upfront you could also lease the machine for thirty-six months total." And right after she left the office I started having issues. I called her numerous times. I left her messages after messages. She never replied nor called or text back. Because she gave me her business card just in case I had a problem I could always called if there were some issues.
From that point on that woman was vanished and nowhere to be found. Now that she had that account opened so she could make her quota or commission whatever you called it. That proves to you right there that they all are money hungry. I have tried to pay that device off as quickly as I could because I did not want to stay in debt for this long period of times making payments to these useless people by making them richer than they already are. According to what she said in the office back in 2011 the quicker you pay it off the less payments you will be making to the company, for the device. She's never even mentioned anything about insurance for that device.
I came to find out later on that year that First Data Global Leasing went behind my back and started billing me for insurance automatically every month from my checking account without my consent. Although I paid the machine off, they are still collecting insurance from me for the device. Bank of America and Fake dishonest First Data Global leasing Company are money hungry. I was under the impression that Bank of America would operate their own credit card processor so I would not have to deal with some outsider company with no credibility for customers as big as they are. Of course by me being new to this business venture was somewhat strange to me and I did not have any money with me to pay for the machine up front. My only option was to lease the machine for thirty six months from those two dishonest companies. All they do, are ripping customers off taking advantage of them.
I just found out that First Data ended up charged me over 3,000.00 dollars including insurance versus 800 dollars that I was supposed to pay for the machine in 2011. They would never take the times by losing one penny for their customers, but they can be pretty aggressive by bombarding customers like me with useless letters scaring you away in a regular basis every month just to collect money from you regarding the device. I have had several letters from this fake company over the course of 4 years I have been using their service. At one point few of the letters they sent me have stated that that the remaining balance was 227.87 cents then after the amount is paid in full the machine would mine as a buyout.
One month ago I sent a check in the exact amount of $227. 87 cents and yet they still want to try to charge me or trying to keep me on the least so that they can keep charging me. That is how they stay rich by taking advantage of customers. This fake ass First Data Global Company is nothing but a law class money hungry by rubbing customers. As far as for this company is concerned, I will never encourage nor refer my family members, my friends nor my colleagues (business partners) to you to do business with. That is how bad I feel towards fake Data global leasing, the fact that Bank of America is another rubber with all those high fees they have charged to my accounts including Fake First Data Global leasing.
I could not be more than content (happy) when I went to one of the banking centers and closed out my accounts and took it away from them and give it to a respectful company. That was the very best decision I ever made in my life. It was a mistake to begin with having First Data Global Company as a client of mine including Bank of America as my banking service. First Data is collecting money from you for no reason and if you seem to have a problem and you end up making a phone call customer services for guidance hoping that you would be receiving a solution to your problems. As a results, what you get in return is a nasty attitude from them. They have the worst nasty customer service representatives in the nation. Every time I called them I kept feeling some type of agitations to call because I know exactly how they would react over the phone with me.
I am asking you to please stop contacting me with those useless threat letters as I no longer want to do business with you guys anymore nor want to hear from you even. I was instructed to send 227.87 dollars and the machine would have been mine and I have those letters to support that as my proof. There is no need for you to keep being pushy by asking for more money from me. All the monies that you've already collected from me wrongfully should be enough to cover this piece of little device. In addition to what is going on right now at the moment, I think you are the one who owe me money while I do not owe you anything.
It has appeared to be so sad to how I went online visiting a few blogs concerning First Data Global Leasing. I did my own investigation about this company and 99 percents of the customers that have been using this service over the years had nothing positive to say concerning First Fake Data Global Leasing. How sad and pitiful! I am really surprised that you are still in business.

I signed a contract for a little over $60 a month and they was debiting my account $100 a month. I asked for a copy of my contract several times and they never could produce one. I sold the shop and they transferred the contract to the new owners which was total illegal. Now it is against my credit. I am 62 years old and would have no problem hurting them severely. They deserve all bad that comes their way.

My story is the same as all of the others on this company. They ruined my credit and have no proof to back it up. The question is how can we get the credit bureaus to NOT accept their reporting. That's the only power they have over us. There are enough complaints just on this board alone that Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian should ban them from being able to report about individuals. I have filed disputes but it's basically my word against theirs, so the mark stays on my report. I'm not a lawyer but this is a "consumer affair" website. Can we find a way to use all these complaints against FDGL to help us get these marks on our credit removed??

Tried to cancel lease with First Data credit card company and they told me I had a 10 year lease and to get out of it I would have to pay over $1,000. I do not even remember seeing a lease since I went through Sam's and did it over the phone with a sales representative. I think this is unfair and Sam's should never do business with a company that is so deceptive.

I agree the government needs to get involved and do something about this company. I started a business in August 2014 ordered the clover. Took months to receive it. I still paid them for it on a monthly basis. Upon receiving it was a nightmare. Orders would not go thru. It would spit orders that were out hours ago. The kitchen staff were making double orders. Could not close a table for the life of me. Three days was enough. I called Andrew who was my sale rep. I told him "This is not what I ordered. This is not good for a full function restaurant." He laughed it off. He told me "No worries, we will pick it up." This then came in right in the middle of a Friday night slammed. I had it packed in a box. I was cooking. He asked where it was. I pointed and that was the last time I saw him.
I have called this company many times. I can't get anywhere with them. They have hit my credit for $14,000 dollars. I don't have P.O.S of equipment. The great part is.. They said I signed contract. I would like to know where my copies are at. FGL??? Didn't even have a merchant ID. No one could find me? I don't know what to do. I refuse to pay for something I do not have in my possession... This is fraud and it seems like no one cares. Stay away from them. Worst company ever...

It's a scam. In business for over 25 years. I agreed to work with this credit card processing service to help my brother in law who was selling for them. It's a 200.00 machine that they lease to you for 5000.00. I couldn't say no... Don't lease this equipment or get scammed.

I entered into a contract with FDGL in October of 2012 when I established a company in Miami. The business did not survive and I was forced to close after a short 6 months. I wrongly assumed that I could return my equipment (in excellent condition) and discontinue my plan with FDGL. Unfortunately, I did not pay attention to the contract when signing - I have learned my lesson. The company advised me that even though my equipment was returned successfully, I was still obligated to continue the monthly payments for 48 months! I just called again and asked to please cancel since I have paid for nearly 3 years. No discussion. I was again informed that I must continue making payments for another 15 months. I am writing to let others know hopefully BEFORE they ever enter into an agreement with FDGL.

They have the trickiest program going right down to returning your terminal when you are forced to update, which I thought should be covered in the $100 plus maintenance they charge me every year. First time I returned a terminal because of high rates and hidden costs and switched to PNC. They continued to take payment from my bank account for 7 months till I got the bank to stop payments. Get this the bank (PNC not much better than FD) said they would only refund the last quarter. This time, four years later, I get notice from PNC MS that I have to update my terminal through, WAIT FOR IT, FIRST DATA.
So I watched my statements closely and sure enough after the second month on the new terminal there was a withdraw for the old one they had received back from me 55 days earlier. I think this must be some kind of scam they are running to rake in a couple extra million a year. I know this, after this contract is up there are many CC processors way better than FD and I will choose one of them. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from First Data. Be careful using your local bank also because they probably use FD to process; make sure you ask. That is how I ended up back with them after I left the first time they screwed me over.

I was approached in a bank after opening a new business account. I signed a lengthy contract being told I could cancel anytime. I decided to use iPads for our processing. I could not cancel. I called many times, holding till I gave up. Handy way to avoid cancelations. Finally stayed with it all day and was told no cancelations. I had not taken it from the box. I told them, since I am being forced to pay on this for approx. $55 monthly for 3 years I was not happy and to cancel when that time was up. I divorced and after the 3 years they continued to withdraw from an account of my exes, for another 7 months. He closed the account. They reported me to my credit bureaus. I could not even find info on my bank statement to call them, no email. Today I finally see a bill wanting $160 plus $300 - some odd dollars to pay for the machine that is long lost in storage...after I called. After a fit it was lowered to $75. PATHETIC WAY TO DO BUSINESS.

My current complaints are primarily with a company called First Data, First Data Global Leasing Company, and other business names First Data operates under. My history with this company, First Data, began unwittingly when the small business I own began dealing with a sales representative from another company, Securus. This individual would not give up using very pressured tactics and promises (low rates, cancellable contract, etc.) during several hours spent in my business while I was trying to work. Every concern and objection I had was slowly overcome with promises, phone calls to management, and written comments and assurances on the paperwork. Based on these verbal and written assurances, my company entered into a contract for merchant services through Securus and its sales rep, **, on 12/5/2014.
As part of the agreement to enter that contract, I asked explicitly, and was explicitly assured verbally and by additional language written onto the contract I signed, that the contact was cancellable. The sales rep said I would receive a guarantee letter stating the same. But when I later received a letter from Securus, it did not state that the contract was cancellable. I called and e-mailed Securus, eventually I spoke with Sales Manager, **, who assured me my account was cancelled. I did not take possession of any equipment. Then, I received a letter welcoming me to a company First Data Global Leasing Company, dated 12/17/2015. I called this company, First Data, and spoke with a representative named **. ** with First Data says that by my signature and contract with Securus, the same I cancelled with Securus, First Data is part of that contract and I am additionally liable to them.
I told her I had sent a cancellation request and the First Data rep, **, tells me they had received my cancellation request 12/15/2014 and that it would take 32-45 days to process. ** suggested I contact the "merchant processor" to be sure my cancellation was also processed there. So, I call ** with Securus and he states I must file a formal, written request. I receive the form from Securus Customer Service dated 12/16/2014 and it states I owe a $495 cancellation fee if I terminate the contract (note that I have never received any product or services from either of these companies). I then called **, Securus Sales Manager, and voiced my complaint again. He relented and said that he would take care of the cancellation and the cancellation fee. Then, I received a draft charge to my checking account on 12/31/2014 for $34.98.
I notified my bank not to accept any further drafts from this company, but was unable to get the initial drafted amount refunded. I then received a cancellation work order dated 1/5/2014 from First Data. I did not hear further from either company from that date, 1/5/2014 until more than six months later, when a letter addressed to my business arrives on or about June 21st from NCR Collection Service. This Collections letter states that Global Leasing Legal Resources is a creditor that has assigned a debt to them for the amount of six thousand twenty nine dollars and twenty nine cents ($6,029.29)!
I called the number for NCR Collections and the phone is answered Hello by a male voice. I ask if this is the collection company and the person answers affirmatively and says he is **. I gave him the file number on the letter and asked him who is this company that is saying I owe them this money and he replies, "Securus". Clearly, there is a link between these companies and I suspect also the collectors they are using. This all came as a terrible shock to me! I have lost time and money on products and services I never received. This entire experience, spanning more than six months now, has caused me excessive stress, headaches and emotional distress. I have contacted an attorney for help resolving the fraud and other violations of the law by these companies, including First Data.

An agent came to my store to enroll me with this company, I was told is month to month, free machine, free setup and no monthly fees. For sign up, I will receive a free $200 reward card. After 3 months, I saw they are charging me $9 maintenance fee, and after ask for my $200 reward card, they told me is not longer in promotion.
Disappointing from this scam, I wanted cancel the service but they told me I am enrolled with a 3-year contract. This company enrolled me in a fraudulent way with lies, but just I returned the machine, now I have to pay maintenance fee for 3 years to avoid they target my credit report. AVOID THIS COMPANY, they're scammers!!

When I called looking for an POS and sign up the sales rep has completely sugar coated everything. Being in business for more than 12 years, I've learned to always make sure you are not lock in a contract, with that in mind, I've ask **, could I cancel it if I don't like it, he said yes.. Then of course when it comes to canceling his words were, "you can cancel the merchant service but the lease agreement for the Clover can not be canceled". So pretty much got fraud... Also that he has not given any calls what so ever to follow up after confirming just push you fast as possible from the online contract..
Offered: Cancel anytime. What happened: Can cancel merchant service anytime, but not Clover lease agreement.
Offered: 230$ for 3 station and 3 kitchen printer. What happened: $256 for that and he said that the extra cost because I had ask for a extra kitchen printer. I would still been happy with that if the Clover system was developed more for my restaurant sake.
Offered: Menu setup. What happened: The POS came in to the restaurant less than a week. Nothing was loaded on, so I called to find out that it was suppose to be the sale reps job to upload the menu for the clover team... So I called him then emailed him the menu but the Clover support team said it was suppose to be sent to them prior to delivery, but the sales guy insisted it was Clover's fault which I could not see why and how besides being under develop system.
After a while speaking to Clover support they quickly discover my concerns and functionality of the software lack: Every server can access anybody's table, meaning if a mistake being made we wouldn't be able to track who did what. No table seating chart. No to-go order notes like name, address, phone number you would have to use other apps like customers app to access it.. When you delete an item it only sends to one printer which is kitchen, so if mistake is made there no way to let the bartender, sushi, know without physically walking over to. It takes me about 9 click to send a order to kitchen, sushi bar on my current POS. It take Clover 19 click before the order can be sent on Clover.. Too many windows, every time when you order you have to click back and done, that's 2 extra click per order.
Printer has 2 sec lag, it always display connection failure then 2 sec later it print, and as you use the system it will say loading or processing as you enter table for another 2 sec. Sale rep stated it will customize to your needs, it's underdevelop POS system. How could it accommodate my needs, just having the servers testing it out they said it was a nightmare. It does not have small or large nor does it have a bottle function so I created another category for just the same wine in different category. The POS system is very sleek and awesome looking but the software is not developed, it should not be on the market for restaurants yet. Overall the set up of the software will not cut time for the server it will increase by 200% if not more, it doesn't display the full category, you have to go in click to find it and then click done, then go back, push add item.. so on and on.

Government should get involved in this company's matter. This company First Data leasing is ripping off customers who trusted them. They lie to you all the time. They get you saying there is no contract. And when you ready to cancel because of the bad service, all the sudden they tell you, that you still have a 4 yr lease on the equipment. They are charging me $2400.00 for returning the equipment. Of course they took my cancellation, but then they transfer you to the equipment department, that's when you find this nightmare. Please someone do something with this company who works unfairly with their customers.

I am also a victim of this credit card processing/leasing scam and am just wondering if anyone has one a dispute with this company? Like hundreds of you out there, I was told I would get a great credit card processing rate for my business, that I could cancel it, etc. and was never told I was signing an actual personal lease, for non-useable or returnable equipment.
I have tried to call First Data to somehow settle on this unfair lease, but they are firm that it is non-negotiable. I have now decided to go ahead and close the business account so they can't take the lease payment anymore and I assume they will target my credit report. Has anyone had any luck successfully disputing this company's reporting on their credit report? Really, something should be done to stop them from doing this to small business owners.

I signed up with a new Merchant (Prestige Payment Solutions) for my credit card processing and First Global was where they gave me the equipment from. The cost of $127.00 a month for 4 years (which is ridiculous to begin with) was suppose to be included in my fees. So the paperwork I signed was through this merchant. There was not suppose to be a lease for me at all with either company. They had me sign papers online which I now find out were a separate lease with First Data Global Leasing. So when I cancelled with the merchant because they lied about not only this, their fees were twice what they said. So, I started getting past due notices from First Data.
When I talked to them for the first time ever, they said I had this 4 year lease with them that had to be honored. In the meantime, as all this was going on I sent a letter to the merchant and copied First Data that I disputed all the charges with both companies. What I'm really mad about is that not only are they trying to get over $6,000.00 for a piece of equipment that I bought for $175.00, they sent me to collections and it is now on my personal credit report and brought my score down drastically. I tried to talk with them and they said they would settle for a $4,500.00 pay off. Are you kidding me? Don't ever use either one of these companies.

They are all lies. They are so nice at first.
So I get the machine May 1. I do my first day of use and on Monday the 4th. I see a debit from my account 105 dollars. I call them up and they told me "it was a mistake. We will give you a refund." Never did. 2 days later 147 dollars. Called again still nothing. From Monday the 4th for 105. By Saturday the 9th the machine was freezing up. By this time I was so pissed I unplugged the machine sent it back and they tried to send me another one which I refused. I put a stop from them taking money from me from my bank. Prestige payment never heard from them again. I don't know what else to do. It's a nightmare. Sometimes I can't sleep at night. This company should be shut down somehow. RIP OFFS.

In 2012 we opened a small business and needed a CC Swipe Terminal. We got it thru Sam's Club using First Data Global Leasing. The terminal worked fine but then a salesman from First Data via Huntington Bank called on us in June of 2014 wanting to set us up with a POS unit, Clover, on a three year lease. We told him we already had a swipe unit (FD100 terminal) and were under a year lease. He told us he would make that lease go away if we went to the Clover POS system. We agreed (mistake) to let him set us up.
Several months later we were still being charged for the FD100 terminal and when I notified him, he said he was working on it and we would get a refund. Long story short, it is almost a year later and we are still being charged for it. He is now stating he can't do anything about it. To make matters worse, we closed our business due to other concerns and now are stuck with two leases on equipment we aren't even using. All calls to FDGL, sometimes you'll get someone who seems sympathetic, but in the end they won't do anything about it either. This company treats the customer like dirt once you've signed on the dotted line. Total rip-off. And the banking institutions are well aware of what's going on. They won't care either. Never, ever even consider using First Data. They will tell you everything you want to hear but will end up screwing you if you go out of business. I'm on the hook for leases for the next two years. They are frauds!

I'm a new-ish business owner of 3 years who got taken advantage of and was given a stolen credit card as payment for a deposit goods and services at my business. I paid dearly for it and had credit card batches intercepted by First Data/NetPay/Merchant Services or whatever they're calling themselves this week. I cooperated fully and was even the person to call the police when I realized what had taken place, knowing I would be the one to be penalized for someone else's dishonesty.
However, first, they just started intercepting batches about a month later with no prior warning. That's a scary thing when you run a micro-business such as mine. When I tried to reach someone to negotiate a possible payment plan, at first they were unsympathetic to the fact that unless I found a loan, my business was going to go under within the month. I would call collections, they would send me to specific people to leave messages and no one would get back to me. I finally got a hold of someone via e-mail and they first called and yelled at me (Yes actually yelled at me as if I were a child) for 5 straight minutes, assuming I was not intending to cooperate.
Finally, I was able to negotiate that they would keep 40% of my batches until the remainder of the $1710.00 was recouped to their organization so that they could settle up with the credit card company of the person from whom it had been stolen. However from that day on 100% of all batches were intercepted. I e-mailed the contact that set up the agreement asking for the status. He wanted me to deal with him by phone. I am SO glad I forced him to correspond via e-mail because I have a record of our conversations. I had to beg, daily, sometimes several times, for a statement regarding the intercepted batches, while constantly having to reassert why I did not trust verbal agreements as there seemed to be a problem with their ability to honor them.
By the time that they admitted error and were willing to give me a temporary refund of some of the batches for me to use for operational costs for my salon, I'd acquired a loan, and the balance had been settled as of 3/26/2015. I agreed to allow the matter to be closed, considering the fact that I just wanted to move on.
Again I am glad I demanded a statement of the paid in full balance from their accounting department. On 5/18/2015, First Data pulled $1492 from my bank account, taking advantage of the fact that in order to make deposits, I have to sign an agreement of access. Again, ZERO reason given for doing that or warning. I provided documentation for my bank and they revoked First Data's access to my account and reversed the transaction in light of the statements I could provide the bank's fraud mitigation department. I switched my credit card processors to one that does not use any affiliate of First Data and through the help of the party through I originally applied for my merchant services account to assist me with cancelling as my efforts to call and e-mail the company to cancel went completely unanswered.
Today I got a notice of arbitration by Merchant Services (again with all of the different names for the same organization) for the amount owed to the credit card company on behalf of the merchant (me) to settle the balance (for which I'd already paid). I sent in my dispute of the claim giving them all of my collected documentation showing the debt paid in full as of 3/26/2015. However since the letter from them was dated 5/15/2015, I don't trust them to stop harassing me for money that I've already cooperated and paid them. I would like them to go away, to keep their dirty fingers from my bank account, and to quit trying to pay them repeatedly for a debt which is more than settled.

I terminated services back on 3/5/15 with First Data. I was told to send my terminal back and provided a fax number to call once my terminal had been received to cancel my services, which I did. I just recently saw charges on my bank statement still from this company. I called and they told me I never cancelled the services. They did not take accountability for their mistake, as he stated they never received by cancellation. He asked me for the name of the person I spoke to, which I didn't keep, but I had all the other information provided me by their rep. I told him they were a rip off and I am going to put a stop payment on their charges. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. VERY DISHONEST!!!

First, I signed up for Millenium Payments for a debit/credit machine which is a Canadian company. Somehow it got switched to First Data Payments, who I did not sign up for... I wanted a Canadian company. Ok so I thought I would cancel them and go with a Canadian company. I asked what the cancellation fee would be, they told me it would be $250... fine. Moneris Solutions told me they could give a $300 credit towards cancellation. So I get set up with Moneris, cancel with Millennium / First Data, they then tell me it will be $500. I was a little angry they told me different before and they call it a "miscommunication".
Next I call to cancel the Leased machine - which I thought was included in the (now) $500 - they tell me it's over $1,000 to cancel!!! Insane. These two do not even deserve a one star because NONE of this was explained to me, their customer service leaves you hanging on the phone, plus I thought I signed up for Millennium Payments. Now after being on the phone with someone from Moneris, they told me Millennium is a broker? And Millennium signed us up for some 'company' without my permission with crazy hidden fees. Wow. Please please beware of these two companies.

I am glad I decided to research deeper about this company as today I was going to mail out a payment in form of Money Order to bring account "current". But now after reading this site, and surprisingly shocked, that I am not a special one that many of you all had gone through what I had gone through these past year! On April 2014, I was recommended to get in this 'swipe card machine' program, and was introduced to this merchant rep from First Data. But when I saw the machine they showed me, I told them that will not work for my needs. I am happy just to get a Square product, easy, simple, practical... and I do not project huge revenue for the year since I am only small business owner.
The First Data machine will be overkill, as I told the Rep. However, my banker at Wells Fargo suggested that I should try it out and see if I like the machine. I trusted her, and she introduced me to the Rep. I met the Rep whom I also told this machine would be "overkill" for my needs, and she assured me I would need for my business.
Since she was represented and recommended by Wells Fargo, so I trust her judgments. So I asked her few things (some basic questions): "If it does not work out, can I cancel within 30 days?" She answered "YES". This is because I was traveling to New York for conference at that time, and wanted to see if this machine really will work out for my needs to sell my new book there. Then: "How long is this agreement?" She said "only 1 year". She also did not tell me that there will be a monthly charge of $49.06. She told me that there will be a small amount of fee you need to pay.
Now that I look back, without carefully reading this "agreement" and only "trusted" her words because who she was (represented by a bank, supposedly) it gives me chills I made a huge mistake on my part, simply 'trusting' and believing her. The day when I signed that agreement, the Rep demo 2x on the machine. The only 2 transactions ever made on that machine. In other words, I have never even touched that machine. I still kept it in the original box she gave me. (Which is now has been returned to First Data accordingly. I do not have reason to use or keeping this I wanted to be out since April 2014.)
Sure enough, less than 2 weeks in April 2014 I gave the Rep a call and left voice message to inform her that I would like to cancel this whole thing. She never returned my calls. After a couple months, I learned that I have been charged a monthly fee of $ 49.06. So I called the Rep again and left voice messages and text messages... never returned calls. I called the bank to look for her, but they advised me to contact the Rep "directly". I did this for next few months. I called First Data also, but they told me the same thing: contact your Rep "directly".
I told everyone: yes I have been trying to contact "the Rep directly"! I feel very helpless as no one seems to help me on this matter. Few months later late July, I really was upset when I tried to leave a voice message on the Rep (as always do) her outgoing message is "FULL". So dreadfully, I contacted the bank to see if they can help me find the Rep. The bank suggested me that the Rep is 'no longer with the company'. For the next few days, my nightmare continued on and got worse. I contacted all involved. First Data suggested to contact the Rep 'directly'...
I was upset because this is a complete Misrepresentation. No one at First Data seems willing to help me with this matter. Even the Branch Manager of Wells Fargo was involved in communicating the matter to appropriate management at First Data. All was ignored. Until January 2015, First Data replied back to me and wanted to see if I want to fill out a "Dispute" form>> HELLO?
The form was completed on February 9 through online. I called on Feb 10 to follow up and they asked me to wait for 1 month to follow up. I called to follow up on Feb 24 who again they suggested to wait. A collection agency called me in March 23. I called them back immediately (at least someone finally called me!) and started talking about my 'account'. They offered me a "Buy Out" and requesting me to "bring my account current".
On January 2015, I was told by First Data the "Buy Out" was $ 2,161. I told them I cannot afford this, plus I have tried to cancel out since April 2014. And I have been making monthly payments since April 2014, for a merchandise I do not even use. The next time I called, the Buy Out price went down lower to $ 1,600 and then next time I called, price went down to $ 1,486.89. On March 23, Buy Out went down to $1,267 while $595 to 'bring account to current'. I advised her I needed to review these numbers.
She referred me to speak to another department, so I called that department and requesting accurate information on Balances and Payment History. From that point on, it's a daily task of me following up - via email, fax, and phone calls. I know they recorded all my calls, and I hope so. Because I started my own documented faxes, emails myself. I started getting calls from Wells Fargo about an account was overdrawn. I requested a copy of my bank statements indicating that my account that was linked to this program had negative balance and had to be closed out, due to funding not available. The negative balance was -$132.20.
Additionally, I sent fax requesting First Data for these Payment History. Just last week (April 27), they sent me via email copies of my requested Payment History and terms and conditions. As a consumer, I have my rights to ask these documents so that I can match what they have and my records, and so that I can review the matter accurately and appropriately. But when I asked them to send me FINAL STATEMENT, they were not able to provide me this document, and also they refused to receive a MONEY ORDER payments. They told me they can NOT send me these information.
I was willing to resolve this matter, if they can provide me Final Statement with balances, but even this they refuse to do. This does not sound right. This raised red flags: Why don't they want to receive MONEY ORDER payments? Why do the amounts of balances different each time I call them? Why do they (Collection/Customer Service) get upset when I requested a copy of Final Statement, Balances? and harassed me there will be a "FEE" and takes long time to receive? Why do they wait so long to "resolve" this matter with me?
When I spoke with their manager, **, she suggested that my account was reported 151 days 'delinquent'. I understand the Credit Fair Practice Act etc... but as a consumer we also should have some rights! This is a complete Misrepresentation. They obviously do not want to accept MONEY ORDER payment, so that they can suck up all your money in your account. Just like what they did on my account.
By the way, I have all these documented in hard facts, from paper trails, dates, calls, emails, etc. It is very unfortunate that this kind of company can get away with this brutal practice, based on the Act. There should be a fair practice to protect consumers from this UNfair Misrepresentation and Fraud business practice! If you are reading this: PLEASE DO NOT SIGN AGREEMENT WITH FIRST DATA!

Two weeks later I was charged $288. For what? The representative had a non working email, and refused to return calls. When I contacted First Data, they claimed that this is an independent agent and is NOT an employee of FD. I am always on hold for at least 20-30 minutes before I can speak to someone. It took almost a month of calling various times before 3 pm PST before I could speak to someone who suggested emailing the lease.
Once I received "the lease", the file was bad. It's Thursday now, she said I would not receive the fax until Monday. There are days where I've been on the phone with this company for up to 2 hours getting transferred from one department to another just to get accidentally hung up on. A little over a year ago a rep for securus payments came into my store and started telling me how much money I could save if I switched my service. After a few visits and a lot of questions from me he convinced me to make the switch. Before I would sign I asked "What happens if I have to close my store?" He said if the store closes the contract would end. He even put me in touch with his supervisor to verify this. So I signed up and also convinced my wife to switch her service in her cafe. About a year later we had to close the cafe because it was losing money. She cancelled all the services with no problem, except for Global Leasing. It seems when you sign up for Securus Payments you are also signing up with First Data, and First Data Global Leasing as well.
We continued to be billed by Global leasing and was told the contract is noncancellable and in order to get out of this contract I would have to pay off the lease to the amount of $5,700.00. This is for a $70 credit card machine. I told them I would send the machine back but they wouldn't even talk about it. They only wanted to talk about the lease agreement and how it was non-cancellable. They ended up sending it to collections where they told me they could drop it down to $3,000. I would advise anyone thinking about Securus Payments to find a regular credit card processor that doesn't lie about important issues like a 48-month non-cancellable lease agreement on a simple $70 credit card machine that is the most costly part of your bill.

Stay a million miles away from Elite Pay Global. I respect bank robbers more than them. Their agent comes with an iPad, lies to you about everything, does not let you read claiming company policy. He says that the contract will be emailed to you after signing and you have 20 days to cancel if not satisfied. He hits a button on his iPad and a large signature pad pops that covers half the page and will ask you to sign. To push you to sign and give you assurance, he even signs a separate agreement giving you authorization to cancel within 20 days. All SCAM.
The company does not honor that claiming that the agent has no authority do that. I called and emailed the company within minutes after receiving the email and told them that I wanted to cancel and that I was not allowed to read the contract before signing and believed your agent. What else could I have done? Told them that they should be responsible for the misrepresentation of their agent who is authorized to represent them not me. They said they get back to me but never did and do not even return my calls or respond to my many emails.
They want $399.00 per month for 48 month and beyond for the machine that costs about $250.00 to purchase and high hidden processing fees. I refused the delivery of the machine but they do not leave me alone and want to enforce their fraudulent contract. I am looking for class action lawsuit. On June 18, 2014, my small flower shop was visited by a representative of Priority Processing West. We had used this company for 7 years to process our bank cards. The representative (a new hire and friend of our family for over 20 years) then brought in the "area manager" to sign us up for a lower discount rate and to present us new equipment "at no additional charge." We owned our equipment, but were assured that with new federal regulations on the horizon, we needed the "chip-enabled" hardware which would be not only free of charge, but our processing rate would be lower as well.
On July 15, 2014, my daughter got a letter from FDGL welcoming her to First Data and indicating that our 48 month unbreakable lease @ $159 per month was commencing. During the period from June 1 to August 10, I was gravely ill and though I handle the financial aspects of the business, my daughter was standing in for me. She is a salaried employee of the business. She texted the sales rep for "What the heck is this?" He never responded. The paperwork she signed had no lease term or amount on it and my sister and business partner was later asked to sign the same paperwork which, again, had no financial specifications on it. We have been in a battle with both Priority Processing West (a.k.a. Priority Payment Systems West) and FDGL constantly ever since and have been sent to collection.
In December, I reported the fraud to my bank and stopped the EFT transactions out of our account. Now they want $7,814.40 to settle the lease. My preference is to join with the other 160 complainants with stories here in a Class Action suit. Otherwise they can sue me and my small family business. No way will we be intimidated by these liars and cheats. I also filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. I plan to forward it to the State of Oregon Attorney General's Office, Fraud Department as well. Contact me if you want to pursue the Class Action. The representative told me that I could cancel at any time if I wasn't satisfied so I thought that was a great set up. They also paid for my Sam's Club membership for each year if I continued to allow them to provide services. Little did I know, when I went to cancel my lease 1 month later, I found out that my agreement to cancel was with the Merchant Credit Card Processing Company and they did cancel my monthly services, however, unbeknownst to me, I was in a 48 month non cancellable lease with First Data for the terminal. I spoke with several people from Sam's club, Merchant Credit and 1st Data and they said there is nothing they could do. Sam's Club said they were unaware.
If I cancelled then, I would have had to pay out the remainder of my 48 month lease for a machine that I had no use for since my business went in another direction. My machine has never been used except for a couple of practice runs on the 1st day and I now have to return it after paying $2072.64. WHAT A RIPOFF!!! If I want to keep the machine, I have to pay an additional $500! I am now in my 45th month of this dreaded monthly bill that I will have absolutely nothing to show for! These exact same machines are selling on eBay for less than $200 so there is no way I can recoup this loss! When our bank account was closed in October there were charges for service fees and an "annual fee" (which was explained as taxes on the terminal for the prior year?).

My bank's merchant services division set me up with a processing account which included leasing through FDGL. After realizing how ridiculously high their fees were, I terminated both accounts. FDGL sent me a termination package with instructions, paperwork, and return label for the return of my terminal. I followed their instructions and returned the terminal. My new processor also set me up with a lease through FDGL. After many, many months, I discovered that I was being double-charged...the first account had never been terminated. Payments were withdrawn two weeks apart, so it took me a while to realize what they were doing.
It took several phone calls to their customer service to finally get a representative to admit that they had terminated the account, the terminal had been received, but they had not stopped charging me because I "did not call them and specifically request that they stop charging me." That was not part of their termination instructions. It took several more calls to several more representatives before I talked to somebody that agreed that company protocols had not been followed, and that I was due a refund (substantially less than the amount they had withdrawn from my account). I was told the refund would be deposited in my account. I never received any amount of refund.
When I contacted customer service they told me the account had been terminated and was "clear", and that if I liked they could give me contact information for their legal department to pursue the matter further. The amount taken from my account did not justify the four-digit cost of hiring a lawyer. I'm guessing they count on that, to keep the ill-gotten gains they steal from their customers. In my opinion, FDGL is a scam/rip-off company that cannot be trusted to operate honestly or ethically. I terminated all connections with FDGL, and will never be their customer again. Watch out.

When I first got hooked up I met the people at a US Foods food show and filled out an application which got a representative here. The representative is the one who set it up. I told him that we already had a card reader. If he could not get rid of the one we already had I did not want the clover system. He told me I could combine the systems and it would be 78 dollars per month. He worked on it for a while but had to go because there was something wrong at home. He had me sign my name on his pad because he said he had to set stuff up. Little did I know I was signing a contract.
After I told him specifically I did not want the one system if we could not combine the two, he gave them both to us anyways. He said he would see what he could do to combine them but left, not before having me sign his pad so he could draw up a contract. He never returned or contacted me again so therefore we thought he had combined the two. We were told that we would get a 1.74 percent charge each time we processed a card. Soon after this our bank account was impossible to balance. When we attempted to call in to get it fixed we would get put on hold and eventually disconnected without speaking to anybody.
When we finally got frustrated enough and called in and actually got through to a person I told them I wanted to be done because I had been lied to from day one and I never agreed to get the new clover system unless the other system could be turned off or combined with this one on one bill. I asked them if I could send my system back and get out of the lease. They told me I could not send it back because they could no longer use it and I would need to continue paying my lease for three years or they would blackball me.
When I talked to the original representative from the US Foods food show and explained to him what was going on, he in all senses told me I was a liar and that he was not going to deal with me. He stated the guy who sold me the equipment was one of the top salesmen for the company and that he believed him over me. Since then I have had to change my bank account in order to save my business because they had been taking so many fees that I could not keep track of it and I was on the verge of being completely broke.
Yesterday I received a letter stating, "Your lease payment is due on the 10th of each month and you authorized us to debit the lease payment from your Bank Account. You also authorized us to debit your account for the full amount due in the event of default. If you have changed your bank account, you must notify us immediately. The lease, on which you signed as a Personal Guarantor, is NON-cancellable for the full term stated on the agreement/contract. If we do not receive your payment within the next TEN days, we will report you as PAST DUE to certain credit reporting agencies and seek other alternatives to secure the total past due balance. If your payment has crossed this letter in the mail, please inform us immediately." Therefore this being another lie because I was told they didn't want their machine back because they could no longer use it. This is just another example of their twists, turns, lies, and deceptions.

I've discussed this with my bank on several occasions, which results in my processor to hold my incoming money because they don't have record of receiving funds when my bank statement clearly shows they have. And without fail 2 months after my money is held FDGL will put a new hold out saying they never received the money they held 60 days earlier. And when you call back all they tell is that money they held was for something different which is complete bull. When you ask to receive a printout of their debits and credits for your account, they tell you they cannot process that request and hang up on you. I have never in my life witnessed such an unethical company. I definitely advised ANYONE who is thinking of doing business with this shady company to reconsider. The experience with FDGL is nothing outside of a nightmare come true.

I leased a credit card with this company on a 4 year lease. I paid off the 4 years of the lease, returned the machine. They never informed me by letter that the machine had been damaged and charged me for the damage plus late fees and one more lease payment, assuming because I had not paid for damaged equipment that I was still leasing it. I refused to pay until they sent me proof of the damage so I could claim it at my shipping outlet (Staples).
The bill started at 100+ and is now over 300+ from added late charges and sales tax? I have not purchased anything from this company and have been confused why they are charging me tax. During the flurry of bills sent to me, I was at one point up to 400+ in charges. Every billing that I receive has no explanation of charges since the 2nd bill so I have no idea what I am being billed for. This company is acting fraudulently and will not stop sending me bills with added charges. This started in November and continues every 2 weeks, I get another bill with added charges. How do I stop this from happening? I have contacted the BBB and they did nothing for me. I contacted the Colorado (where the company is located) attorney general office and they did nothing.

I am a small business retail shop owner and while trying to accept food stamp as payment First Data was referred as one that could help. I signed up with First Data and went along with their fees. After a few months and not being able to accept food stamps for payment due to having the business at home, it was not necessary to use the card reader. Later on, another company came along with cheaper and better services so I decided to call first data to negotiate the fees in order to continue with them. No one including the agent that signed me up returned the many phone calls and the messages I left. After a long wait for someone from their office to call and talk with me but not avail, I decided to go with the new company.
No one from First Data talked with me but they were taking money from my account. Money was withdrawn for a few months without me knowing so when the account would not balance the evidence was out. I then closed the account. From closing the account, I started receiving mails from first data about payment I owe and to return the equipment. In the process of returning the equipment, I had several calls with unknown number asking for me to push the number 1 in order to speak to an agent and many a times there was no agent at the other end of the line to talk to.
That went on for a while and soon after I sent the equipment, I had another call from a real person and I reported sending it to the address recommended. Another call came through and spoke and negotiated for me to to pay $680 as early termination fee. I told the lady I could not come up with that amount of money but I can pay it in three installments. I sent in the first $200 and another $200 to first data. I am left with $280 to complete the payment.
To my surprise, I have a negative report on my credit report from First Data and today January 17, 2015 received a letter from a collector representing first data requesting that I pay over $1,400 for being delinquent. I am confused and do not know what to say. Why should small businesses succumb to vultures like first data while there are affordable merchant services. Are businesses not allowed anymore to choose services that are affordable to them anymore?

Our office was ready to finally have a charge machine in our office. We contacted our bank and were referred to this company as to who they use and prefer us to use. The contract is extensive and of course in their favor. BEWARE of the fine print and all the hidden fees. Many other charge companies can be used and charge a lesser percent and smaller fees, do the research and find one. It will be worth your time. The customer service has always been hard to access, terrible service, unhelpful, and bad attitudes. We recently changed banks, after ours was bought out, and received threatening letters and phone calls from First Data while trying to change bank accounts. We closed our bank account in the middle of the month and yet they charged us all the fees for that month in full and charged the yearly fee even though we only had the machine for two weeks of the year. We have discussed this with other businesses and they have either experienced the same issues or refused to use this company because of their terrible business reputation.

After speaking with customer service I find that this system does not do half of what we were told it would do. We have tried on two different kitchen printers and neither one of those will work. We got equipment we did not order still boxed up and never used. No one can find my sales rep and they tell me I am stuck with this useless equipment that I can not use. This POS is not suited for any large Bar at all.To top it off any other apps you might need to do business you have to pay for on top of the equipment. I've read the letters here and found that everyone's experience is pretty much what I have. I closed the bank account associated with the First Data machine, since I stopped using it 6 months ago. I thought I only had a $500 early termination agreement to worry about. Then this morning, I find out that there was a 48 month separate agreement for the equipment. I tried to buy this in the beginning, but of course my rep talked me out of it. Now I know why. I'm looking at almost $1000 to end this nightmare. I'll be retiring in 18 months and I'll still be liable. My question is, what is my wisest recourse here? Pay the whole thing off early, or keep paying on a lease for the equipment and the account? Thanks in advance!

I wish I had read the reviews on here before jumping on board with this company. They were sent to me by the branch manager of my bank and the rep had a card with both the First Data and my bank's logos on it. I assumed it would be reputable. Well, the rep talked me into a Clover POS system. It looked simple and efficient. I went for it, but asked he wait a few weeks as we had a few issues we were dealing with and couldn't schedule an install until the internet was worked out. The system was shipped to us and the payment out of our account before I even signed papers.
Once I was ready to install the system, my rep went AWOL. I called, his voicemail was always full or he never got back to me. Then, after frustration, I decided to install myself. I got to the install screen and had problems so I called the number it gave me. When I connected, I was informed that my account had been cancelled. They researched it and said that an executive cancelled my account because I never wanted the system. So, now it's the Christmas shopping season and I am left without merchant services. No one can tell me anything. My rep's phone is still off and his voicemail is still full. If I did business like this, I would be out of business.

We have used Wells Fargo bank for our card processing for the past few years. Fees were kind of high but the money was in our bank account the next day so we were ok with it. Our terminal was old and not compliant a few months ago and we're told we had to go to First Data to get a new one. Didn't want to pay $800 for it so took the lease at $42 a month. Found a new company where the rates were less and terminal was FREE. No problem canceling Wells Fargo but First Data tells me we have a non-cancelable contract and we are responsible for the whole 4 years. Wish I had read these reviews before we even started with them. They told me there was no point in getting an attorney as the contract was binding. The terminal we have won't even be compliant in another year or so when chip cards are being used. Oh, I can buy out the lease for over $1300. Isn't that nice of them! This is day one, but not over yet! Don't understand why all these big banks deal with this type of company.

So three years ago I contacted Bank of America so that I could get better rates on my credit card processing. They automatically referred me to First Data Global Leasing. They signed me up to lease my equipment at $25/mo. They made it sound like something horrid would happen if I didn't sign this lease because if there was an equipment problem it wouldn't be covered if I didn't do this. And the equipment was golden million dollar equipment.
One year later I had to close my business. There's no way to break the contract. There's no buy-back for the equipment. There's just no option except to keep paying $25/mo for the rest of your life... or the life of the contract which I strangely thought was only a total of three years. Fast forward two years of making those $25 payments for NOTHING. I called today to ask about when the last payment would be on the contract. I still have 13 payments to go! And still owe $249 for NOTHING. No services. NOTHING. So seriously... I have to pay $325 but the payoff is $250?? I'm SO DONE. I will never make another payment on this stupid piece of equipment.
I will be contacting Bank of America and letting them know that the automatic payment is cancelled. My business closed two years ago. I am SO OVER this stupid piece of equipment and the $25 monthly payment that is haunting me. They claim that they are sending me a copy of my lease agreement with my signature. I never signed anything. And I look forward to seeing that show up on my credit report and phoning to get it cancelled. I don't know how this company is still in business except they're robbing every unsuspecting small business that Bank of America refers to them! The last 3 months of my life have been a living hell due to first data leasing. We leased a POS system for our restaurant and signed a 48-month lease. We were told by the salesman at the end of the lease, the equipment would be ours to keep. WRONG!! We made the lease payments which were bank drafted for the 48 months and right before the last payment was due, we were informed that there was an additional $600.00 buy out due if we wanted to keep the equipment. At this point the equipment wasn't worth $600.00 especially since we already paid 6500.00 over the course of the 48 months so we chose to send the equipment back after our lease with First Data had expired and was paid in full. (By the way found out I had to pay the cost of returning which was 145.00 which I did.)
Story over right? WRONG!!! My last payment due to them was bank drafted on August 1st, 2014, equipment was sent back to them and was received by them August 8th. So I notice on Sept 2nd, 2014 my bank account was drafted again but this time for $186.31, 53.00 more than what the original lease payment was for. So I immediately called, (waited on hold for over 30 minutes) then finally got to speak to a live person. They admitted that they drafted an extra lease payment and the 53.00 was for damaged equipment which I explained was not damaged and was in working order and was professionally packaged and shipped via UPS. He agreed to remove the damage claim and was told I would received a full refund of 186.31 and would be credited back to my bank account within 3 business days, which never happened. After the time had passed I called back yet again also waiting on hold forever when I finally got a person on the line to inquire about the missing funds that was to be credited to my account. This time they said they never received the equipment back so they couldn't refund my money.
WHAT? First time excuse was received it back but was damaged, this time excuse is never received it at all. So after going through the story with customer service about the last conversation regarding damages, I provided him with a UPS tracking number to verify receipt of equipment. He took the information and said that now he had the tracking number, he would submit a request to his supervisor to refund the money that was drafted but this time he said would take 7 business days. Frustrated beyond believe I had to wait another 7 days to receive MY MONEY, so another 7 days go by and as you all have now probably guessed, still no money. So needless to say I call yet again and after waiting on hold until my cell phone battery was almost dead finally another live human being answered, went through the long story again, this time I was told the reason they didn't refund the money was because they said they received some of the equipment but not all of the equipment and the part they said they didn't receive was the cash drawer and monitor (which is the heaviest of the entire package).
You've got to be kidding me!! I went on to explain that the package I sent back to them had a shipping weight of 90 lbs and consisted of the monitor, the cash drawer, 2 small portable printers and power cords and by the way I informed them how can I verify what they received or didn't receive in the first place. So again reluctantly they agreed to refund my money, at this point I knew that would never happen so I disputed the charges drafted from my bank account and had the charged reversed through my bank as fraud. So as soon as the money was credited back to my account, I immediately closed the account, this was just before Oct 1st 2014. Just as you all might suspect they continued to try to draft the now closed account, not only for the reversed charges but for additional monthly lease charges (remember our lease agreement was over August 1st , 2014).
This is where the nightmare really begins and the endless harassment starts with constant computer generated phone calls, some days it's 5 a day. In one last attempt to call them again to explain the error (again to which they admitted to), they assured me they would get a supervisor approval and correct their error. This was two days ago and needless to say the constant computer generated phone calls have continued like I said earlier sometimes 5 times a day starting early in the morning continue. Long story short, even if you honor your lease obligation to the end of the term, return equipment, it will never be over with these people. At this point I do not know what to do but to try to keep this from happening to someone else. So please if you are approached by First Data, even by your banker recommendations DO NOT DO IT!!! I sincerely hope this helps someone else who may become an innocent victim.

First Data Global FLEASING!!! - This company and many like it rely on deceptive sales tactics and then threats..... Great business model right?! I can also clump Wells Fargo into this mess that I now sit in with FDGL. I have two recommendations. One, never ever sign up with this "Company" and two, if you do, don't be afraid of their threats and extortion tactics. The credit card processing companies have had their way for a long long time, but times are changing and there are now more transparent and reputable companies to use. And companies that don't have cancellation penalties.
First Data will lie and cheat to get you to sign on the dotted line. The dotted line is usually a 4-year Non-cancellable lease. BE CAREFUL!! They will tell you the opposite and then when you realize that the other promises of low rates doesn't pan out and you want to move on, they will lie and hassle you day and night. When you send the terminal back make sure you have record of that as they will deny they received it. I just got off the phone with one of their reps after receiving a letter saying they didn't have my equipment. They do, I have proof, they signed for it, it works....... they lie and are ok with lying. The women then told me I owe them $700 for the "remaining" 2 years. I asked for what service. She said I signed a 4-year lease. I said I did not. I didn't. She said I can email it to you. I did not give them my email address for obvious reasons. How great is that for the big companies to be able to guarantee themselves 4 years of being paid by lying.
I wish someone could guarantee me I would have 4 years of income for my next four years. But, it doesn't work that way. I get up every morning, go work my ** off and every month pay FDGL for a terminal.... well I don't anymore and never will again. I had Wells Fargo cancel the auto payments that FDGL were taking from me. Of course now I get letters and phone calls. I could care less at this point. I have no intention of paying them another cent. I have great credit and will monitor it as I always do. Hahaha, as I'm writing this I am receiving my normal phone call from them, right on time this morning. Classic!!! It is of course a recorded message saying to call right away or else!!!
I now expect the file to move to collections where a guy, usually angry and threatening, will tell me he will ding my credit. I will act immediately if and when that happens. I have read numerous times that if they do hit your credit that a simple phone call will remove it as this company is well known for this type of extortion. I'm actually looking forward to speaking with more First Data employees. I plan on wasting their time as they have mine. Do not trust this company, do not sign up with them, report them if they have lied to you and no matter what you do, do not pay them!!!! FIRST DATA GLOBAL FLEASING - ZERO STARS!!!!

Upon opening my small business I had to get a business account. So I went through Bank of America to open a business account and Anna from the Watertown Ma branch had referred me to a merchant service company. Of course she told me that everything was free and the only fee we would pay is to lease a machine monthly and the credit card transaction fee. A couple days later my wife met with a guy name Abinal from FIRST DATA GLOBAL LEASING, never told us his last name. Again he assure us everything except the machine and transactions would be free. He asked for our information and then disappeared.
About a week later a credit card terminal appeared at our business. We were still under construction at the time and did not request for the machine. We were 2 months from finishing so we figure we just keep it but not set it up until we open. After about a week of getting the machine we checked our bank statement and was charged for the lease of the machine, transaction fee (we were still under construction) and some kind of property tax, all together a little over $100. The lease was only $35 a month but they somehow manage to add on $65 the first week.
After countless hours on the phone with them I manage to get some money back ($30 to be exact) and tried to contact my sales representative with no luck. Not a good start. We manage to finish construction ahead of time and because of our deadline we didn't have time to go look for another merchant service company. So we use FIRST DATA GLOBAL LEASING for a month and bank statement arrived. Like the first week, again we were charge with all these ridiculous fees. Mind you FDGL has a lawsuit against them for charging fake taxes.
I called customer nonsupport and was put on hold for an hour. Finally they told me there was nothing they can do because I signed the contract. Contract? What contract? I never even seen a contract, my sales guy never mention anything about a contract. So I went ahead and decided to call my sales guy. To my surprise his number has been disconnected. I contact Bank of America, they also don't know what happen to him. I asked for the contract to be sent to me and they sent me a contract that was signed electronically. I wonder who signed it because it was not me. Seems like a case of identity fraud to me.
I contacted my local Police department and had a police report written. After all this I called up to cancel my "contract" and was told it's not cancelable. That's funny because I would definitely jump at the opportunity to sign a contract that was not cancelable. After hours arguing they still insisted I pay off my lease which was $2000. I laughed at the representative and hung up, I signed up with Beacon payment right away (very good company would recommend to anyone). After a month FDGL wanted to negotiate my payoff and sent me a letter saying they are willing to take $1500 dollars as a pay off. I continued to ignore them and received multiple threats saying they will take me to court and phone calls late at night and early in the morning, what a good way to do business. Then I finally received a letter for the terminal back. I sent it back thinking they finally gave up and moved on, boy was I wrong. After a week of them receiving their terminal back I received another letter saying they will settle my case with $500 dollars. It's funny cause I used their machine for 1 month found out they were crooks and went with a different merchant who gave me a better machine for free.
Just a FYI, these credit card machines only cost about $200, and FDGL wants $2000 for them. So after a couple months of letters and phone calls they decided to give up and send me to a collection agency. Now I'm dealing with a punk name Anthony who keeps threatening me with my credit score. I've contacted the credit bureaus and found out that if your credit score has anything to do with FDGL it will pretty much be erased off your credit report if you contact them. That's a sign of how bad this company is. I wanted to take my time to write this review because when I was in the middle of this whole mess I was looking on Google for help. I hope this helps someone else out there from not being bullied by this poor excuse of a company. I don't know why they are still in business and why big companies like Bank of America do business with them.

I was told by a merchant services rep that my little store could save money by switching credit card processing companies. He said that I would get a new credit card machine and HioPos register system, make monthly payments and that the machines would be mine at the end of the 48 month term. He worked the math and showed me that the lower processing fees would offset the equipment payments. Regrettably, I signed. The equipment was delivered. I was disappointed right away. The HioPos system came with no instructions. We learned to use it through trial and error.
Fast forward two years later, I have sold my business. The new owner has agreed to take over the leases. And the HioPos breaks down. I called my merchant service rep, he told me to call FDGL. FDGL says that I am responsible for the repair because all they do is the lease. Again I call my merchant service rep, this time he refers me to a number for HioPos. I had to ship the system off ($110) to be repaired ($319).
When the HioPos returned, I called FDGL to find out about the transfer process and find out that "transfer" of the lease means that the new owner's name will be added, his bank account will be used for payment. However, if he does not fulfill the terms of the lease, I will still be held responsible. Even though I no longer have the equipment. Even though the new owner has signed papers taking responsibility for the lease and the equipment. So I am still on the hook for two more years. My advice to anyone considering doing business with any credit processing company is read the fine print, ask if FDGL will be the company handling your equipment lease and if it is - RUN!

I opened a shop and set up with First Data. The rep had me sign for equipment on a small pad like UPS uses and told me I was signing for various pieces of equipment and also signing verifying my mailing address and to run a credit check on me. All I saw was a line for a signature. He never told me I was signing for a 4 year lease! After my store closed he would not return my calls. I ended up mailing the equipment back requested a signed receipt from the USPS. They sent to collections and ruined my credit saying I owed them more than $1500.00 for the remainder of the lease. I filed a complaint against them through "Consumerfinancial.gov". DO THIS TO GET BACK AT THEM! The rep misrepresented himself and provided false information to me. I had told him more than once that I was giving the business one year to see if it would do well and if not I would close. I would never sign a contract with anyone for over that one year! They have to respond to your complaint. I just got notice today, that I have no further obligations to them. I am waiting to check and see if they have straightened out the credit reporting fiasco!

And the worst thing: they deduct the money directly from yours each sales...... so that my accountant does not know how to do bookkeeping.... And every few days, I can see they deduct money from my account for the fee. You never know what it is, they have a lot hidden fees and unknown fees....
This company operates and handles even worse like a street vendor... as I called them, without a normal system. When I call to determine, they ask for a early determine fee... what? A garbage business like this want a determine fee? So stupid. I did a bank stop payment already. I don't think they can get a penny from me... so this is a suggestions to those who are suffering from them and want to determine... I really don't understand that why our society can tolerate such a garbage company exist.... and rob money everywhere from USA TO CANADA AND MORE???? THIS IS CRIMINAL, DON'T YOU THINK SO???? I plan to do as much as I can to let more people know how bad this garbage company is... even spend some money to do so, so that fewer people would not be deceived!!!

The Clover system was sold to us as an answer for us as a small retailer and it is simply not performing. Reports are weak at best. Inventory system does not work. Item reports do not show returns. When you give a blanket discount (IE 20% off entire sale) the reports for items sold do not reflect this and continue to show that all items were sold at list price which adversely affects COGS and creates inaccurate reports. Item report does not reflect ANY RETURNS. They literally told us to be patient with them and they are fixing it. Another call had a rep telling us arrogantly "well, most returned items are defective and or damaged and you would not put those back in your inventory". We were speechless. That is not for the system to decide, that is a buyer's function. So with this model, you take the return and you must re-enter it into inventory.
What a royal waste of time and resources (payroll). The customer tracking in the system is confusing and cumbersome. Be sure to ask for multiple references before signing a lease (as there is no recourse with the lease company due to a lack of performance from Clover BTW). I can imagine legal action for damages on Clover's end to get us out of the lease and compensate us for our time spent as their guinea pigs unless they resolve the issue very quickly. I can think of may ways to spend $3,000.00 on my business rather than deal with this stress.

Christopher ** came to my house and misrepresented information to me which I relied upon, so I signed a contract on 07/30/14 for credit card processing with him. I learned the following week thru a welcome letter from First Data Global Processing that this was a $40.00 a month, 48-month lease. He told me I could cancel at any time. I immediately called First Data customer service to cancel and talked with Brittany who said I would have to pay over $2,000 to get out of their non-cancelable lease. First Data immediately started to deduct $40.00 from my checking account so I sent the credit card processing machine back to them a week after I received it. I never used the processing machine. A class action lawsuit is needed against First Data Global Leasing to make them pay for their injury to myself and others who have been affected their salespeople. I have been scammed by First Data Global Leasing.

If you have a weak stomach you do not want to read my First Data Global Leasing story. Also, if you are a small business person always check with your credit card processor to make sure they are not setting you up with a FDGL lease.
During our 32nd year in business we leased credit card equipment for 2 gift shops from what we were told was Payment Systems. We knew the leases were way above market and the lower credit card processing fees more than offset the additional cost according the information we were given by the salesman. (Turned out not to be true - another story.) We received the credit card processing equipment from First Data Global Leasing (FDGL) on 02/29/2012. On December 31, 2012 we closed one of our stores. I called FDGL and asked what to do with the machines and I was told to return them. The credit card processing devices were received by First Data Global on January 3, 2013, FEDEX tracking number **.
After shipping the devices back, I discovered that I would have to continue to pay the lease for the next 38 months. The monthly payment of $231.08 was automatically deducted from my business bank account each and every month. In July 2013 I found that I would have use for the machines in my other store and I contacted First Data Global to have them ship the devices back to me since I was already paying for them. I spoke with Jerry. I gave her the FedEx tracking number, she checked with the warehouse and the equipment was there. She told me there would be a processing charge of $53.50, which was ok with me, and that she would have them shipped right out. The charge came out of my bank account and I never received the equipment.
I again made contact with First Data Global Leasing. This time I spoke with Shelley. I went through the same tedious verification process (FedEx Number etc.), agreed to pay the $53.50 and was told they would be shipped right out. The charge came out of my bank account and I never received the equipment. After another couple weeks I called again. I told the entire story to Monica and she said she could not help and she got me Miguel. I went through the entire story and process with Miguel on Monday, November 18, 2013. Miguel promised to straighten it out and to call me right back – he never did.
Instead of shipping me the equipment Miguel paid off the lease for my other store by deducting almost $1,000 directly from my bank account on November 21, 2013 without my knowledge. I could hardly believe that this happened when I was calling to have the equipment I shipped back during January 2013 and on which I was still making payments, returned so I could use it.
I called back to complain and I got Larry and he promised to ship me the equipment I had been waiting for, send me a Satisfaction letter for the lease that was accidentally paid off by Miguel and to forgive the normal charge back (around $475) for the equipment covered by the lease for my other store that had been satisfied by Miguel. True to his word I did receive the equipment I was waiting for. However, I was once again charged $53.50. This is the 3rd time that I was charged the same shipping charge for the same equipment. The first 2 times nothing was shipped and the 3rd time Larry finally had the equipment shipped. Also, I did not receive the satisfaction letter or the waiver of the equipment charge as promised by Larry.
During December 2013 and January 2014 I started calling and spoke with Chantel on at least 4 different occasions. Each time she assured that she would take care of getting the 2 extra shipping charges refunded, getting me the letter of satisfaction and the waiver of the charge back for the equipment from the lease that they paid off. The last time I spoke with Chantel I told her that unless she would take care of this immediately, I would close my bank account in order to take away FDGL access to my funds. Since I did not hear back I went through the incredibility difficult process of closing our business bank account. It is now closed and I will never give them access to our new business bank account.
I then received a call from Barry because they no longer had access to my bank account. I once again went through the whole story with Barry and he assured me that he would get it straightened out once and for all. I told Barry that I would deduct the 2 additional shipping charges from the February lease payment and he said that would be fine. The next month I received a bill for the shipping charges that I had deducted plus late charges and New Jersey Sales Tax. Also, at this time I began receiving Robo calls at 8:30 every morning at home from FDGL about the now $150 that they said I owed.
I called Barry again and he assured me that as long as I kept making the monthly lease payments everything would be alright and he would have it fixed. I continued to receive the dunning letters and the early morning calls and I started calling Barry on a regular basis and he never returned my calls. On August 8, 2014 I received a call from a collection agency that FDGL had turned over my account to them for collection and if I don’t pay they will damage my personal credit rating. With the monthly late charges and the NJ sales tax charged on the entire amount each month the charges now total over $250.00
I can honestly state that in 34 years in business we have never dealt with a more dishonest and incompetent group than FDGL. I sent all the information to our State Attorneys General office and was told that because it was business to business, I would have to retain my own attorney to deal with FDGL. My attorney charges $300 per hour so it is not worth it. If someone has a class action against FDGL please post the information so I can join the suit and contribute to fixing this inexcusable problem.

After 5 months, I decided to return the portable processor and I found out it was part of a 5 year uncancelable lease with First Data Global Leasing. I checked online for anyone with similar problems and read some horror stories of them taking large sums of money from people's accounts, so I changed my bank account and contacted First Data with the intent to negotiate a reasonable payout. I returned the processor and tried to negotiate the pay out of the lease. I have spoken to them on 4 occasions but they never get back, as they say they will, with a letter of the agreed total. I think the leasing is a front for ripping you off because they know people will be dissatisfied and want to cancel. They then dip into your account and take the money, so beware. I want to pay them out reasonably and be rid of them but they are playing games and I think it's all part of a preplanned strategy. They have no caring for customer satisfaction and take no responsibility for what the sales rep promises.

This seemed fair to me. We have had nothing but good luck and were billed accordingly at $599.00 per month. I just received an email stating that my monthly flat rate was going up to $1239.00 per month because we were put in a wrong flat rate plan, initially that was for average ticket sales of $15.00. I immediately called to cancel but was told that was impossible and the 3-day cancellation rule does not apply to small businesses, BUT was assured that I would get a written statement saying that if my business closes, there would be no cancellation charges. I even offered to buy the terminal right away instead of leasing (this was less than 24 hours of meeting with the rep and immediately after seeing the contract in its entirety) but was refused. I did get an email from the rep sent from her First Data email address stating that termination fees would be waived if my business closes.
Well, now my business is closing, called First Data who has no record of this waiver. They said the rep still works for the company but the email I sent bounced back and First Data refused to give me her current phone number. And now, they tell me the terminal is separate from the processing company and even if they can confirm my agreement, it will not apply to the terminal which is claiming I owe over $700+ (maybe more I don't understand all these fees they are inventing) to return a machine I can buy new for under $200. I am looking to join a class action suit so if anyone is aware of one in progress, please contact me.

These are basic POS functions. Clover is just a fancy, pretty cash register. Based on this I tried to cancel the contract. Was actually told that they (the leasing company) didn't tell me a thing. That they are a separate company and all I could do was pay off the lease. They don't care that it doesn't work as promised. We have a small business in California. I was approached in 2012, as many, to change my Merchant Services by "Securus Payments" to save money on my merchant fees. After going through 3 months of past statements, they gave me a better rate on my credit card purchasing, and stated that there would be a an "equipment lease" rental as well incorporated into my monthly charges, but my savings would still make up for it. Securus put me in a 5-year contract with a $500 buyout (pretty standard). A week later, an antiquated piece of credit card processing equipment showed up that I would never use, nor did I ever use. I did see the lease charges on my statements every month, but I was under the impression, just as the sales person mentioned, that those charges were part of my Securus contract.
I was approached about 6 months ago (2013) to change my Merchant Services again. They bought me out of my Securus contract for $500. After I closed my Securus account and I returned my equipment, still in the sealed box, I continued to get charged my monthly lease fee of $122 a month. When I called Securus to inquire, they said that it was a completely separate contact and I would have to contact FIRST DATA to remove the charges. After contacting First Data, I have found that not only was this a "fine print" item in Securus' contract, I was locked in to 3 more years with no buyout and no cancellation. What a crock! When I told them I returned the equipment, and I never used it they didn't even care. I cannot believe that a company can make money off of sending out equipment that was never used, then continue to charge people for something that they had no use for and returned. This is misleading, and unethical.
I have since closed my account and moved on. I have received calls and threatening letters. I am unsure how I will proceed, but I will assure you that this has been the most deceptive and unethical company I have ever dealt with. Even when I offered to pay a late termination fee, they would not offer a solution. I also cannot believe the amount of companies that use this type of tactic. If anyone has had a similar situation, please let me know. I am unsure how to proceed from here.

They assured me if there were any penalties for early termination or any problems, they would address them immediately. However, they only tell you this to get you to sign the agreement. I was told I would have a 24-month lease Payment with First Data and at the end of the 24 months, the machine would be mine and I would have a lifetime warranty on it.
Well, for some strange reason he put the agreement on the wrong papers and had to rewrite it. When he did rewrite it, he changed it to 48 months. Today, February 14, 2014, First Data called and informed us that because we were disputing the contract we were in violation of the contract and they were turning our account over to collections for the full contract amount of 3000 dollars. If we don't make full payment immediately they will report negatively to the credit reporting agencies. During the dispute we have continued to pay the lease agreement monthly charges.

Wells Fargo Banker told me that they could set my small business up with a credit card and check cashing machine. The representative who visited my business did not disclose that they worked for First Data. I told them that I did not want to sign any contract that committed me to a long term, and had to be cancelable without penalties. I was assured that that was the case, not a problem. They were to send me a copy of the corrected lease which I never received. I did not sign personally and it was written in the name of the business. The machine was delivered, never worked fully.
I called customer service, and was shuffled back and forth with no resolution to the problem. We limped along with the machine for three months over our busy season and could not use it for more than about 10 credit card transactions. In January of 2012, I asked them to remove it from our business as it was not worth the trouble and was costing more money than was reasonable. Charges to my bank account ranged from $38 to over $100 within a month's period. I made several trips to my bank during that period to deposit checks and complained that the machine did not work, hence my trip to make deposits.
Wells Fargo assured me they would make sure someone came out to service the machine or remove it. I called the 800 number on the machine and they told me all they could do was send me supplies. I ask them to transfer me to customer service without any success. I was three months into the lease without a service call, a non-functioning card/check processing machine and finally found out that Wells Fargo was not the party I was dealing with! I tried unsuccessfully to send the machine back, and it had not been used but First Data continued to charge several times a month over the next year.
Eventually I was forced to close my business. I told them that I was sending the machine back to them postage collect. They told me that they could care less, I needed to pay them $990 for the machine and a cancellation fee. The machine retails at $125 and I declined stated that the contract was never in effect as they failed to provide me with a proper working cc/check processing machine from the inception and never responded to my repeated calls. They were deceptive from the beginning, misrepresent the terms of the contract, misrepresented who they worked for by omission, and failed to provide a fully operational machine.
I sent it back and formally disagreed with their charges. I have an attorney from Florida who called me yesterday on my cell phone telling they have put a collection on my personal credit and is attempting to collect on First Data's Charge off!! Why is the Company still in business when I see the same type of practice used across the country with Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Someone please stop the insanity and get a class action suit put together to stop the predatory practices. We said no to the contract.

Equipment was never set up & they charged me anyway & their charges were higher when they weren't even servicing my account than I pay to my present credit card company - they broke the contract. They state after the fact that their contract is "lifetime" but no such legal contract exists. Very poor customer service. Be careful if you even consider such an organization. April 2013, we opened a bank account with Bank of America for our new small clothing retail business. After talking to bank's in house Merchant Services for our Point of Sale POS system we were all set to go and should have everything shipped to us within 48 hours for our store opening, May 10th. After leaving the bank branch I received a phone call from another BOA Merchant Services sale person offering me a better deal than what the bank offered me on my credit card transactions, etc. First RED FLAG bank competing with self!
Upon several emails back and forth trying to get me to take the better deal from this sales person we did. She was pressing and time was critical to receive for opening. She sent it all via email and at the time all I could see is on my phone screen (very small) and I told her this but she was pushy to get it electronically initialed to begin the order. I scanned the 75 pages as careful as I could looking for to be stuck in a lease which I told bank and her earlier I did not want to be bind to a contract because we did not know how the business would go in the area we were opening it. Trial and error so to speak.
Once I saw in agreement that it was a 48-month contract, I emailed her back and said I see that this is in here and I do not want this. She emailed me back and I quote her exact email: "I will waive the $500 early termination fee and you can cancel at any time." I was like okay sounds great. Received equipment later than she promised. Also did not know that we would have to train over the phone for 2 hours and had to also schedule that 4 days after we opened. She promised gift cards which we got but had salt and pepper shakers on them. We are a clothing store remember! Also was promised a bar code printer to print labels to put on our clothes, also another mess. Called her and it was through another company and they also wanted us to sign a contract. NO, I said or I will return all equipment and we will go elsewhere. She promised we would get it and we did but late.
She also promised us 2 cell phone card swipes like, the Square in case we had sales outside the store like at shows or if our credit card machine went down. Come to find out they were free alright, $15 month for them even though we never used them. Also got hit with $114 fee toward them and ask why and bank said it was for upgrades, maintenance. etc. Really? When the Square is free and only charged when used. Look out people for Bank of America as well they are snakes too!!
On Oct 15, 2013 we closed our doors. Called to return equipment and First Data said I could but had to pay $8,000.00 because we were under contract. OR I could pay $4000 return equipment but still would go against my credit. I called the sales lady several times but like before she never would answer because she was all about email. I emailed her and told her what First Data said and she said yes that I was and when she said I wasn't bonded to a contract she was meaning with Bank of America Merchant Services. Wow, what snakes they all are. But thank God I had this email to show my lawyers.
Yes, I have hired lawyers and things is going slow and First Data still sends bills almost every 3 days and calls every day even though I have told them that I'm going to fight them due to me being bonded to a contract under false pretense. I will be willing to help anyone fight this company and try warn others before these snake companies keep sticking it to small businesses.

I own the ** Restaurant in Caldwell, NJ. I lease a credit card terminal from First Data Global Leasing. On April 2012 we had a problem with our original credit card terminal machine. Global sent out a new machine to replace the old machine. We replaced the machine and returned the old machine in the box provided by the company. We were advised by the company that there would be a new charge of $39 per month for the new credit card machine and the current $31 per month for the old machine would be terminated.
In January I was going over my bank statements something I rarely did because my partner handled that aspect of the business and I noticed that we were being an additional $31 per month. I inquired with the bank about the charge and they indicated that the charge is for a credit card terminal. I then contacted Global and inquired about the charge. They indicated that we were being charged for 2 pieces of equipment. I advised them that the old piece of equipment was returned 20 months ago back in April 2012. I asked for the billing of the second terminal to cease and that I be credited for the prior months of billing.
After making that statement I was hung up on. I called back several time, Once speaking with Steve on 1/24/14 telling him the whole story. He indicated he would get back to me and did not. I called again explained the whole story to Anne on 1/30/14 and again left my information, never received a return call. I called again on 1/31/14, spoke with Deborah who was rude and hung up on me after asking to speak to a manager. I called back again later that day and got Lisa and she keeps transferring me to the main menu. She did this 5 times. Then she hung up on me.
I finally got Giovanni who was a manager and completely rude. He gave me no satisfactions. The company will not reimburse me the money I paid out for a piece of equipment that I did not have, they were double billing me. They were charging me for something I returned to them for 20 months at $31 per month for a total of $602. At that point I no longer want to do business with the company. They are unethical and the are scammers. I told the manager that I would not require their equipment any longer and was going to return the terminal . He state, "I don't care what you do with the terminal you are going to pay for it as long as the contract says you are." I did not realize that I was under any contract with the terminal. I feel that I have been scammed by this business and I'm afraid to do any further business with them. I just want what is due to me and I want not to be involved with this company anymore. Can you please help with this situation.

I opened a small business account 8/6/2013, in preparation of starting a small business the fall of 2013. While opening the account, at the bank desk, I was put on the phone with Alexandria of Bank of America's Merchant Services, who briefly described fees associated with automatic credit card transactions. For several weeks, she called me to set up the Merchant Services application. We finally tried to go through the many pages of it online, but my computer was too slow. We arranged to go through my initialing the application, from my job, with her explanation it would take a few minutes.
What I initialed was a 48-month lease for the electronic equipment, including a $59.95 lease charge, $15 per month other charge, a charge to insure the equipment, plus all fees associated with the transactions, once a credit card is swiped. I was later called by Alexandria stating my application was approved. I later received a letter that these deductions from BoA account would begin 10/10/13. I finally had my first business sales 11/17/13, without using the equipment. I received printed gift certificates that I never approved, that included my home phone number. I spoke to Alexandria about the error, from my bank branch. I never heard back from her.
After getting my first sales, I have realized I would not use the electronic equipment. That is not the best use of my money, and I will not see any profit for a long time. The contract states the lease cannot be cancelled, you can only buy it out. I need to end this lease, get out of the Merchant Services account. I have a call to the regional VP of Merchant Services. IF I am stuck, I will have to close my newly started business and seek legal counsel. I realize I electronically signed the lease agreement, but I was misled. I explained all details of the business to Alexandria, especially the fact it would not even start until the fall. She never said anything about the equipment lease, or the monthly charge fees, only transaction fees each time you ran a credit card. If I had realized I was signing to begin anything, I would not have signed. I was trying to just put certain things in place to be ready to sell when the time came, not be broke before it even got started.

I own a small coffee shop in Aurora, CO. In May or April 2012, I was looking for a POS (point of sale) to run my business. I was approached by a salesperson who represents First Data company, Mr Josh **. Josh also represents Mersatech who is a subsidiary of First Data, I think. Josh promised me that I can lease the system and that at any time during the lease agreement I could purchase the POS for $4,000.00 and break the lease. $4000 is the selling price of POS system new...That was the only reason why I signed the lease with First Data.
I was approached by many POS vendors with whom I did not do business because they have been honest and told me that I could not get off the lease until it comes to term which was an option I was not looking for because the system would end up costing way more than its original purchase price... I could not buy the POS at the time because I did not have the money... I thought if I could lease the system for few months and if I could save some money I could go ahead and buy it for $4000.00. I asked Josh to provide me in writing that I could buy the system anytime if I pay First Data. He never gave me that paper. He told me that it will get mailed to me, which of course never happened... After 2 months I called First Data asking them if I could buy the system from them. They told me that I could not and that have to stay on the lease for four years which will end up costing me close to $10,000.00 at $200/month...
I returned the whole system to the offices of First Data in Florida and ask them to rescind the lease because of misrepresentation of Mr. Josh **. They refused and kept harassing me to take back the system and keep paying them which I refused. After a couple of months of harassing phone calls from First Data and after they found out that I will not take it back, they reported me to credit agencies stipulating that I signed the contract and that I should abide by it. What they missed in this whole story is that their sake's representative lied to me and took advantage of my ignorance and naivety to induce to sign the lease which I would have never done if I knew I could not buy the system and get off the lease.
First Data reported me to the credit agency as owing them close to $10,000.00 even when the equipment was returned .First Data needs to rescind the lease agreement for the POS system thus invalidating any debt between myself and First Data. I did report this matter to BBB. Their answer was that I should take it with Mersatech and that was not their business anymore. It sure was their business when they were harassing me with phone calls to get payments from me. They never told me to talk to Mersatech.

My wife and I owned a gas station and car wash operation, and made the unfortunate move of signing up with First Data to provide credit card processing services like a lot of the people on this post. Like virtually everyone else, our experience was very negative, with bad service, questionable charges, zero accountability by First Data, etc. To top it off, after we had sold our business, terminated our account and sent their machines back, we noticed additional charges from First Data being EFT'd out of our business account 7 - 8 months after we no longer owned the business!
Plus, the charges First Data was removing after the fact were more than the original EFT's ever were. Our solution will be to close that account to prevent the Thieves of First Data to access any more of our funds. While we most likely will never see any of that money again, we are interested to hear more about any class-action lawsuits that may be pending, or hearing from anyone who may have successfully fought these people and won. She told her she would be sending new equipment for us to hook up. At that time we had an existing lease agreement # ** and we were told we had to go online and do a compliance form that was required by everyone and a fee would be deducted from our checking account which also deducted our monthly leasing fees for our equipment. The rep that contacted us was Jean ** (she is no longer with them).
A lease agreement was sent to us and she said that I, the owner of the shop, had to sign to continue lease. Never did she tell us she was creating a new lease. We faxed it back and the equipment arrived and we sent old equipment back as instructed. We were actually given a back-to-back lease without having the first one cancelled and being charged accordingly. This year, we switched banks and our bank did not handle equipment with First Data so we called them and they instructed us to send back equipment. We have letter dated February 21, 2013 with lease # and equipment information and the letter stated we owed $60.40 for 2011/2012 taxes. It was debited from our account and it was our final payment once equipment was received.
Equipment was returned on 3/14/2013 and we have receipt. At no time did they inform us that we had another lease. We noticed that two payments were taken out and we called them and they credited our account. Then in July of 2013, we began getting harassing phone calls from the collection department of First Data which we have documented stating we owed for the remaining lease a total of $694. We told them that we sent equipment etc. back and then they informed us that another lease was enforced dating 2011. They had another number for that. We did not know this as the rep never informed us that she was doing this. We never even saw the woman in person.
This is a fraudulent business tactic to trick the consumer. We are a small business and we have been trying to resolve this with them without any results. They now have sent us a letter that our payoff is $800. They will not admit to any wrongdoing and we were in contact with a supervisor who said that she could not do anything because we waited 2 years and actually we had no idea that they did this back-to-back lease until July of this year. I was directed to a legal department which does not speak to anyone via phone. Right now, we would like to see what other steps to take against this company for their shady dealings.

I mean I need a contract ONE YEAR for merchant.
Mr. ** said OK for almost all things except monthly charges. And he called second person (** who is Wells Fargo Merchant Services Carolinas Market). We talk about charges for more than one hour. They were talking on me NON STOP like they found person who will be ripped off. I didn’t know that they are trying to get me tired and rip me off for 4 YEARS LEASING CONTRACT. Except leasing me for 4 years contract. I ask them 3 times, will I be charged if I leave contract after few months??
They 3 times said, “No sir, you won’t be charged any money if you leave your contract next month either!!” After 5 months I was under the balance with my business and I closed it. And I called Wells Fargo for close my business account and return their merchant. They always transferred me someone else on phone but never told me anything on the phone what to do merchant. After 1 month someone called me from FIRST DATA GLOBAL LEASING for ask me to pay them about 1.700$ for leaving contract for 4 years!!!
I tell them my lease was for 1 year but they said NO. It’s for 4 years and you should pay that money because of leaving the lease!!! You see lease was for one year but they put for four years on contract. I could be leaving the lease without paying anything, any fee. But they said you have to pay 1.700$. Be careful with all them; there is the name on company I have an experience the bad one watch all their things on the papers too. Because they give different information on talk which one is not difference on papers!!!

He said that he was just going to upgrade my terminal and give me a better rate that would save me tons of money. Guess what? It was all hogwash! He conned me to sign up with a different service that started to rake me over the coals. I asked him twice if he was with the current service that I had, and both times he said yes! He outright lied to me from the beginning. This company should be taken out of existence. I've tried calling to resolve the problem and all I get is wait on phone forever. First Data Merchant Services (now Ignite Payments) had begun charging me a non-compliance fee of around $100 about 4 years ago. I paid it the first two years (the first year without knowing, since I don't review my statements often). Let me state here that I AM compliant for PCI-DSS at my business' transaction level, and have always been, but First Data charges this fee if you don't report your SELF-assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) to THEM. They are not the government, and really have no business monitoring the compliance of their merchants.
By the third year, in order to avoid their non-compliance fee, I looked into what I needed to provide them. Turns out they were happy to refer me to THEIR preferred SAQ provider (a service for which I would be seamlessly billed annually MORE than I was paying in non-compliance fees). So take your pick, $100 non-compliance fee, or a $120 compliance fee!! Let me state again, that whether I pay First Data their fee for compliance OR for non-compliance, it doesn't change the fact that my operation IS compliant!
What First Data is actually doing is PASSING along to their customers FIRST DATA'S COSTS of THEIR operation achieving compliance. This is a non-negotiable fee (I asked; and therefore cancelled). In addition to this fee, there is a $35 minimum monthly transaction fee, which means that if you are only keeping your account open to potentially run credit cards for your customers (but not actually processing many/any), you are throwing this away every month.
But that's not all you're throwing away. In addition to the monthly minimum fee and the annual compliance fee (or non-compliance as the case may be), about 3 years ago, I started noticing a new "Customer Service Fee" appearing on my statement each month. This monthly fee is $17. For what? Does it sound like I'm getting great customer service from these folks? I NEVER call them (except occasionally to ask them to remove fees). If you conduct online business, or phone orders, you'll need a Gateway (and probably virtual terminal). It looks like they offer their own branded gateway service, now. This gateway is provided by third-party to the tune of $25/mo. (I could be wrong on this; it might have gone up to $30/mo recently).
I've never loved these fees, but when business was doing well, I never saw it worth the time to fight too hard. Now, though, my business is in hibernate mode and I'm only servicing the odd purchase from loyal repeat customers. I just called today to ask once again if they could remove these fees and they would not. So I'm done dealing with them.
I would have liked to move to Heartland a couple years ago. I looked into them and had a sales rep out to visit me. In the end, the paperwork was more than I could manage at the time and they have a $300 signup fee and a contract (annual, I think).
I'm moving to CHASE Paymentech. I hope this is not a mistake, as well. But after a conversation with a Paymentech rep, there will be NO sign-up fee. NO contract. And he says they'll be charging only a $25 minimum monthly transaction fee and NO other fees (no service fee, no gateway fee, and no compliance/non-compliance fees). NONE. Hard lesson learned. I hope First Data doesn't charge me a fee for it!

I hope First Data goes out of business. First of all, their customer service is one big loop and if you do get a rep, they never answer your question. I have been dealing with them for 3 long years and there are a bunch of fees. Now that my lease is paid $1700, they are saying that my machine has reached its end of life. Basically, after paying all that money, my machine is now useless. I am tired of calling them and fighting with them. If one person reads this and doesn't deal with them, I will be happy. Stay FAR FAR AWAY from First Data. What a lousy way to do business by gouging the small business person. I think a class action suit would be a great idea! Count me in!

We signed up for First Data back in March of 2011 right before the opening of our chiropractic wellness office. We have since come upon a better merchant service that integrates with our electronic medical records; no terminal is required (we can use any computer to charge a person's credit card), along with a plethora of other reasons why it suits our business needs better. I called First Data and spoke with my original sales rep who was not professional, did not listen to me or want to help me. I requested his supervisor (Adrienne) and spoke with her, explaining what was happening and how poor of a customer service I got from my original sales rep. She took my information to her superiors and got back to me a week later allowing me to cancel so long as I paid my fees for the last month that we processed and the $30 cancellation fee.
Then I was made aware that my terminal was being leased to me through a totally separate company (FDGL). I called and spoke with their customer service rep and was told that I had to fulfill my contract or pay a fee which would be equal to the remaining months of my contract. I was never made aware that the terminal was leased separately and that it was not tied to our original agreement by the sales rep at First Data LLC. How much was I told I had to pay? If I didn't return their equipment, I was told an amount of $1700. But if I returned the equipment, it would be closer to $1200. I couldn't believe it.
I have since spoken to customer service reps 4 or 5 times since the end of May 2013 and I have called and left messages three or four times to the supervisor in that department named Giovanni. Unless he is in the hospital dying or has a family member who has gotten seriously ill, he is avoiding my calls. I have waited now over two weeks. I returned the equipment with a handwritten note stating that we are refusing to pay that amount because we are no longer using the terminal and I explained that we have a better option for our business model through another merchant service company. I have even offered to pay $300 to settle it so that they can get some money and feel happy with themselves but they keep telling me the lowest that they would probably "be allowed to go" would be like $1000.
I would like to be a part of this class action lawsuit as well. This is complete absurdity and it's unnecessary, poor business practice on their part. We have patients in our clinic who sign up for care and don't always complete their care plan recommendations. We can only legally charge them for services rendered and we don't charge them for anything more. I can see why there are so many complaints online against this company because no one else operates this way and gets away with it.

I own a mother/son barber shop in Austin, Texas. About 4 years after we opened, PFC Payment Solutions came to me promising me that they could seriously cut my credit card processing fees. According to the rep's calculations, I would be saving a ton of money monthly (even with the First Data equipment lease of $80.50 a month). I didn't read the fine print and signed for the equipment. Immediately the promises were broken and after 3 months, I was so disillusioned that I went back to my original processor. The old processor was willing to jump through hoops and use the leased equipment. A couple of months later (seriously not more than 6 months after I got the equipment), the feeder that feeds the paper stopped functioning. I got free loaner equipment from my new processor and I spent a month trying to sort through the quagmire to get my leased equipment replaced. What a joke.
Since I had changed from PFC Payment Solutions, they said they were no longer obligated to replace the equipment. First Data said they were not the actual equipment provider. They just take my money every month and my new/old provider didn't have the same equipment, so they couldn't replace it. I have had my leased equipment in a box paying $80.50 per month since June of 2011. I even had an attorney look at the deal and call First Data. The equipment acceptance paper was a non-cancellable (this word is not even in anyone other than First Data's dictionary) lease.
Being a small business, I consider myself held hostage, raped and plundered by a gigantic company that operates behind the skirts of our largest banks/stores like Sam's Club - an army of small shyster credit card processor salesmen that don't give a hoot about actually getting your processing business (PFC let me out of a two year deal in a heartbeat) because they are probably getting a stipend from First Data. I don't know who else is pushing First Data Equipment leases, but PLEASE, PLEASE read the fine print when dealing with processing equipment. If you see First Data... RUN! I would love to lead the charge on a class action suit. This is hurting our small businesses in America (and maybe other places too).

I operate a seasonal business and have periods where income is not viable. I spoke with First Data Global and tried to deal with a solution to either lower fees or suspend/cancel the lease to no avail. Customer appreciation is non-existent, which is the least of my concerns. Now, I'm stuck for 46 more months, with no hope of breaking the contract. This should not be allowed. It's criminal, what they are doing, and they wouldn't be in business if it weren't for banks pushing their service. There are better options on the market that allow for similar equipment, with no lease and no account minimum fees. You just pay 2.7% per swipe, that's it! Why would the bank suggest the polar opposite? It’s inconceivable if they truly wanted to help, but it's more apparent through both parties that they want money for nothing and for a long ** time!

Then you get a letter out (called a welcome pack) with lease saying you're roped in for 5 years. I am a sole trader, so I phoned to explain I was unhappy.
It all started from there. They already had my bank details, so they could do what they liked now!!! They only give you 5 days cooling off period. So that's where their WELL THOUGHT of and well REHEARSED COMMISSION sales talk works for them. They know the drill; it comes natural to them. So when I said within days of being with them that I wanted to cancel, they re-routed me in every way they could by giving me false information.
Example: "Oh, you are on your fifth day from receiving the terminal. I think you're too late to cancel. I will need to ask my superior and get back to you." - Never did. I found out later the 5 days cooling off period was from the welcome pack letter. He was AWARE of this information himself. After all, that's his job!!! In between times, I wasted loads of time trying to find out where to cancel and give the machine back. Guess what's next? When I did get someone to listen to me, my 5 days were over by a few days. They want $200 + Vat for admin fees, $190.00 + Vat for what they call refurbishment fees and $393.00 +Vat for the whole 18-month rental.
In the reviews, most of what I have read is shocking. I intend to take this much further although it's proving tough as I am only 1 person to the hundreds of persons in the above companies. If anyone wants to assist in any way, I would be most pleased to hear from you. One last thing I have to say: I don't know how these horrible people above can sleep at night!!!!!

What a gigantic mistake I made trusting my bank and getting involved with these companies who had processed our credit cards and leased us our credit card terminal. First Data Global Leasing is ripping me off $125/month. We are now on another service with much better rates, no contracts and free credit card terminals. I have contacted FDGL several times to return their equipment and get out of the lease. They are impossible and a total rip off. Never, never, never engage with either of these two companies. They both are complete scams and totally unethical!

If you ever considered a credit card processor, under no circumstance should you sign any contract with First Data Global Leasing. I was told I could cancel at any time when I signed up. After two years with them (and their outrageous fees), I went to switch providers. That was when they sprung the bill on me, $700 for the remaining time on my lease. I was shocked and I told the woman that I was appalled at this unbelievable charge. She proceeded to berate me for not reading the contract and generally treating me badly. I told her I was planning to cancel my contract but I'd call back later to do it (so I could figure out what to do). The next day, I discovered that First Data had deducted the $700 from my account and sent me a letter telling me my account had been cancelled. These guys are the worst. I cannot believe that a major store like BJ's would do business with these people.

They are liars as well as bad business people. Our software is not compliant with them. When they told us about the contract, we told them that if it wasn't compliant with our software, we could not use it. Victoria ** talked us into signing a contract with them and we have never run one transaction through. She guaranteed us that if it wasn't compliant with our software, we could send everything back and not be charged a dime. She forgot to tell us that she got fired shortly after. We did finally get them to take the equipment back, but the 48-month contract for $90.10 is still coming out of our checking account. We have tried many times to resolve this and they just threaten us or don't get back to us. I do not think this is legal.

FDMS has been debiting my account in error. After bringing this to their attention many times, they have refunded some funds but continue to bill my acct. in error causing insufficient fund fee charges to my account that they have not replaced in excess of $554. FDMS has submitted the same charge back to my acct. for payment in the amount of $3059. This amount was taken on 09/07/12 and was attempted again on 12/5/12, therefore, costing me insufficient fund fees. When attempted, FDMS took $95.05 for a credit card transaction from my acct. and tried to debit my acct. $2963.95 totaling the same $3059 taken on 9/07/12.
FDMS has been charging me interchange fees on transactions that they consider fraud. This is not contractual. A contract agreement was agreed upon by FDMS Risk Management (Phillip **) and myself dated 10/15/2012 stating that 50% of debit and credit card transactions would be held up to $2200. The only 2 transaction funds submitted to my bank account was $2200 & $3059 for a total of $5259. $3059 was taken back from my account. $2200 was not available for FDMS when sought after. Therefore, the agreement above was established.
Some of the funds toward the $2200 have already been taken by FDMS but not reflecting the new balance. An additional $22,300 is being held for 6 months from transaction dates around 9/04/12 by FDMS. FDMS has not proven any fraud. These transactions were online orders to my store. We may have been a victim of fraud. FDMS has refused to refund any funds taken from my account in error or any funds taken from my account for insufficient funds due to FDMS errors. Security is not honoring the contract agreement nor will they answer calls from me or my staff or return calls. In August, I called the Bank and closed my Merchant Account and asked them what I needed to do with the machine. They said to contact First Data and they would tell me where to send it. They also said I would probably have to pay $400.00 to cancel the contract. But when I called First Data, it was like I kicked a puppy or something. They told me that I had a 4-year contract and I could not cancel without paying the remainder of the balance ($2,324.58 through 09/04/12). I explained to them my situation but it fell on deaf ears. I called the bank and ask them if there was something they could do for me. They said they could "try" to find someone to take over the contract. I have heard nothing in the last 2 months and note, the # I have for my contact at the bank goes to voice mail and he does not return my calls. The only thing that I signed was First Data’s insurance policy. Do not use First Data for anything!

Do not do business with FDGL! Make sure that you read a merchant agreement completely before signing, especially if they use FDGL as a third party equipment leasing company. We signed a 3-year contract with Bank of America. It turned out the contract for the equipment was for 4 years. That makes absolutely no sense, right? After calling First Data, they directed me to Bank of America and they in turn directed me to the sales representative who set up our account.
No one was able to help me and it was a headache trying to get someone who could answer my questions. You would think they had a copy of the contract in front of them! First Data wants us to pay the rest of the lease off, even though we are no longer using Bank of America for our merchant services since our contract expired. If you try calling to cancel any time, it is just a big headache and there is no way to get rid of them. Beware of this company. They will use an expired contract against your will and keep charging your account no matter what you try to do!

The person who answered this call would not state his name; he just wanted to know what the problem was. We explained what we wanted to do. We were told that all we had to do was send the equipment back, as our contract only had 4 months left and that would be satisfactory, and our contract would end. This company has a lot more significant complaints than what is showing here! This company has got to be out of the country, because they are that bad and have been getting away with ripping people off for years. Still now, it seems by the posts here that they're being referred by many other companies to un-informed consumers as to the pure unethical and just plain fraudulent aspects of this company! They claim after you sign a contract (and there is no length of contract other than a 2 years) that the other parts of their so-called contract are verbal? Really?! Now I see after checking here. All, no matter the site, people are saying the same things about this company and their many names.
They not only are consistently ripping people off for open-ended and non-written terms, but once they get in your bank account, they try and hold you "hostage" even after the 48 months. They had no business holding onto anyone in the first place! I'll go further. Even after sending their POS back, they pretend like they never received it; and I got not only delivery confirmation, but they signed in all 3 locations I sent notices to. Besides, I sent the equipment back to the address they'd always referred to and sent a label for!
They are the most fraudulent and most unethical company I have ever dealt with in over 50 years! Now if you think you still should go with any part of this company, you deserve to be ripped off! And you will be! Thankfully, I have a Credit Union and at least got their debits stopped. But they will, I'm sure, still ding my credit; and that's another way they try and succeed a lot of times. And they know this by knowing we have excellent credit and then trying to use this scam/sham against us. But you know, if this one thing causes me to lose any credit, then that's credit I will do without rather than be continually scammed by this company! By the way, only other company in line with this one? ADT.
I am paying more a month to just get away from them. They, for over a decade, have purchased companies and their clients. Therefore, it deceivingly looks like they are a good company. They are not! They get rid of the great techs from the companies they purchase. Good luck to any of the people they then hire for a much lower wage to know anything about security after that or your system.
In all my over 50 years, I can honestly say these are the only 2 I have had real problems with. And I've left ADT ten years ago after fulfilling their contract for a 3-year term. After that, I ran from them, then I was paying a great company for over 7 years as Brinks, then Broadview. And guess what? ADT bought them too. So left them. Again, ten years after getting away from them the last time, they bought out a company I had for my security service. Some things never change. First Data Global Leasing, First Data Merchant Services, and any other name they call their selves, along with ADT. Buyer, beware!

Undisclosed fees and contract terms: We signed up with Wells Fargo Merchant Services (a third-party reseller of First Data services) and were not fully informed as to the terms of the lease for the card reader (a 4-year, non-cancelable lease) or the fact that there is also a 3-year commitment for the transaction processing service, which comes with its own $500 termination fee apart from whatever amount First Data claims would be owed if the equipment lease is broken. We did not use the reader or process any cards through them last month (zero activity) and still had to fork out $165 in fees, of which only about $57 was for the actual equipment lease. That is $108 in one month for them doing nothing.
Another scam they hit customers with is where the contract says you can avoid a $10 monthly fee by eliminating paper statements and signing up at their website for paperless statements. What they conveniently leave out is the fact that once you do this, you are required to sign on to the site at least once per month or else they still stick you with a $10 fee (they hit us 2 consecutive months, so I can attest to this personally). By the way, anyone who is not yet an indentured servant to these scumbags, use Square, use Square, use Square! Go to SquareUp.com. It is a free phone app, the card reader is free and their fee schedule is straight forward. Intuit also offers a similar service now, as well.
I am in no way affiliated with Square. I simply want as many people to avoid this experience as possible and to eventually put these unethical types out of business for good. As it stands now, we still have 29 months left on the equipment lease and 17 months left on the transaction processing contract to break the lease and be done with them outright. They are claiming that we would have to pay them somewhere around $4,900 ($4,400 for the lease and $500 for the processing contract). To anyone else encountering this situation or similar, I would be more than willing to join a class-action lawsuit against First Data, in order to put an end to this absurd and blatant fleecing of small-business owners across this nation.

We were approached by a First Data sales person about new fleet accounts. These would begin to be sent to us regularly, and would be of a great volume for our automotive business. We were told that in order to process these new fleet customers, their cards would have to be processed through their machine, and that our machine would not take them. The lease was for $79 per month, and would be far outweighed in returns with these new customers, not to mention the savings on the credit card fee. To make the long story short, not one lead, customer, or any benefit has resulted in this association. Our credit card fees are higher than ever, so that was a bold faced lie, and they have withdrawn $85.50 each month for the lease (I hope this is my out being charged a different amount than the lease). The lease is for 48 months, and cannot be cancelled, and is supposedly, a separate company than the credit card processing company.
We have since switched credit card processing companies to offset some of these costs, but are now trying to find a way to break this lease. In the long run, this lease will pay them $4,104.00 for a piece of equipment that is worth only between $200 and $600 new. We are usually way more careful than this, specially with our checking account! The absolute promise of many new fleet customers was good, and we know they are out there needing our services. I allege collusion between the credit card processing company, and the lease company. Best of luck to all of you who have been taken in by this same scam. If I find a way out, I will post it, but for now we let the lease payments continue, because they have unlimited access to our business checking, and can ACH late fees and penalties, even if not appropriate, and then we are stuck trying to get our money back.

I tried after being open for a while to contact them. I found out about stopping the lease, but was informed that it could not be broken. In 2007 I sign up for a merchant account with Card Service International. I was given a wireless terminal. Not knowing that card Service International is a subsidiary of First Data and First Data Global Leasing.
(Way Systems,) sells it $400) and that I was financing $700.
The total amount paid throughout 2007 was $570. At the beginning of this year I asked to pay off the mechine considering that I was financing $700.
First Data Glabal Leasing is asking me to pay $1400 despite the $570 paid last year and at least $350 this year.
