The issue has been resolved to my satisfaction. Dispute was resolved faster than my expectation. The company may need to monitor its sales process and the security screening process.
Auto Phone system asked me some security questions and the staff asked me the same security questions. Wasted my time. Difficult to reach to a real human customer rep. I am being charged two fees but never received new machine. And the investigation is a lengthy process. Recorded wrong postal code. Their company is in USA. Overall, not recommended. Quite negative experience.
Set up a Clover machine in May of 2019. Spent 5 to 10 minutes on the phone with their agent Daniel **. Found out that the agent is supposed to visit the location prior to setting up the machine. Months pass. The shop is broken in to and the Clover machine is stolen. I find out then that First Data / Clover won't cover theft and in practice cross out the $5 monthly insurance in their contracts. To replace or leave the contract costs $1500. So I'm leaving the contract. This company hides behind walls of customer service who are under skilled and don't know how to listen or leave the script. Arrogance and ignorance at its utmost with this horrible company.
Please run away from Clover and first Data for leasing clover. They promise you some price and later change the documents. And When you ask for the signed documents, they would never give you. It is impossible.
I was scammed. Never ever lease a Clover system from First-Data. And I won't stay with a bank that promotes them and then doesn't advocate for me - PNC Bank. I was told I could return the system within 30 days. I tried to return the system and cancel within 30 days and then was told I couldn't. My sales rep told me I could get out of my lease at any time. Then he wouldn't return my calls after the sale. I thought it was a 3 years lease, but it apparently is a 4 year lease, but I was never given a copy of my lease. I was upset about it 2 years ago when I started the lease and tried to return it and complained, but I gave in because I didn't want to pay for my old system and the new one while I was fighting. Don't be fooled, it's a scam!!!
Called First Data today to cancel my merchant service. They never asked one time "Why are you canceling?" Not one time. After 13 years and thousands of dollars spent with this company they don't even want to know why I'm canceling. The customer service is the worst of any one in the business. No thank you! Rick
I was hired on as office manager for a company that had been suckered into a 4 year lease and have since returned the equipment they "leased". I just recently received another notice saying our lease is coming due and we need to pay for the equipment or return it. So I call in, well, they apparently have ANOTHER lease under our owner's name but we have no equipment. They said I had to talk to another department to resolve the equipment return that they have no record of (of course) but I am on hold for half an hour and they suddenly tell me they have high call volume and to call back.
So now, we have two leases on machines we no longer have. We returned them via USPS and I do not have a tracking number. The second lease still has 12 months to go (even though we never even run transactions through them) so we will have spent thousands of dollars on equipment and access not used and will still end up having to "buy out" the terminals. What a horrible joke. Making it impossible to even contact someone and then even more difficult to cancel with them is no way to do business. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
Let me just out some facts as I remember them: I am a new small business and was in need of a way to accept credit cards. Sam's Club referred me to First Data and I took the bait mainly because of the very low transaction %. So I called and was informed by their salesman that it was true -- simple low rate and no extra fees. He emailed a contract which I signed and returned. He called back an hour later telling me that he gave me a rate that was too low and that I needed to sign another contract, which I did. Then I read into the mile long contract and saw that there were MANY fees that I would be paying. So I called the salesman and (like a dummy) agreed to all of the fees that he previously assured me did not exist. SO SO much time was involved and I just felt that I may as well just go with it, even against me better judgement.
I realized that I signed 2 contracts and was worried about getting double fees on all of the hidden fees. I called and he said YES they would otherwise charge me on 2 accounts and that they would be sending me (and charging me) for 2 card readers. So he was happy that I called before all that happened. So he had the first card reader turned around during shipment, and so I never did receive it. He also promised that he would close the original account so that I would have only the one account that I asked for -- well he never did.
My card reader finally arrived and after about an hour on the phone their "support" people agreed that the card reader did not work, and that they would immediately send me a new one within 5 days. Like a fool I'm feeling like I'm so into this mess that I may as well see it through -- WHAT A HUGE MISTAKE because that's when the real trouble began. Of course they have access to my business account and they started with the billing nightmare -- charging me for 2 card readers, 2 shipping fees, and all sorts of other fees, and the replacement reader never came so I was still unable to use their system.
So after hours of trying to deal with them I finally got a guy that apologized for my nightmare and started refunding my unauthorized and unjustified charges. He also assured me that he would close both accounts and STOP billing me all these fees. Once I saw that the fees were all refunded to me I hooked up with another card reader company -- 10 minutes online and I was all done.
Well today, a month later, I find 5 charges to my business account. I went to log into my accounts with them but found that they are both closed. I literally spent 2 hours on the phone with them today. they had trouble identifying me because the accounts were closed, and their "automated system" kept hanging up on me because I could not provide them with an active account #. Then after demanding to not be transferred to "the system" but to speak to a human I was put on hold for about 20 minutes. What an unbelievable nightmare! NOBODY could help me. So rather than stay on hold I had to go to my bank to close the account and go through hours of bill pay and auto pay updates to get things right with my business. I wish I had funds to hire a lawyer! They were absolutely HORRIBLE and I have no idea how they remain in business. I disputed the charges that remain on my old account from them. ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE!!!
I wished I had read these reviews before using FD overpriced and unethical services. I was tricked into signing a 3 year lease thinking it was month to month, now that I am no longer in business they sent me information to return their equipment and numerous collections threats AND several notices that I still MUST pay for the returned equipment I used for less than a year. How are they able to get away with such unethical practices? And don’t bother calling their reps, they know nothing and put you on a 10 minute hold for each question you ask. When I asked for corporate mailing address to file a formal complaint they said there is no corporate. Really!
This is SERIOUS **!!! We switched machines (and first data merchants) in October of 2012 and they have been charging us a lease on this machine that we returned back to them ever since!!! I never realized the charge was for the old account and now they asked if I have proof I sent it back... PROOF?! I sent it back in 2012!!! I'm going to lose my mind. They said, "We'll look for it." I'm sorry what?! I can't with these people!!! I better get a refund for all the charges since 2012 or I'm taking this crap to social media!!
Hands down most dishonest company to deal with that I have seen. From my experience all CC companies are out to lie, cheat, and steal to earn your business, but FDGL takes the cake. Dishonest doesn't begin to describe them. Took our money, very slyly got us to sign a 4 year lease of equipment. When we tried to switch, we sent the equipment back and continued to unknowingly pay the lease for months. When we put a stop payment on the charge, we were threatened with legal action, BBB, etc... Just downright dishonest thieves. STAY AWAY!!! Promise you the world, but will not deliver.
Our POS equipment lease with First Data Global Leasing was expiring in a few months. Our business decided to change providers. To ensure all final payments were made and returned equipment received, several calls were required with their customer service. Every single agent was disgruntle and outright rude. Aggressively worded collection letters and penalty charges, including threats of credit bureau reporting, started arriving every two weeks after payment was 30 days past due.
This was the first time in 4 years past due and a result of removing their direct debit access as I tried to work with them to confirmed final payment required and couriered a cheque. My final interaction... Agent: (with no emotion) "Lease number and merchant number." Me: "Hello, just calling to confirm the closing payment was received. The lease number is #####." Agent: "The account is closed." Me: "Okay... Good News!" (with a smile on my voice). Agent: ... (dead air) ... (no response).
Long story short I was promised these devices would accept a particular gift card which my restaurant used in the past which they were never able to get working despite that promise. I was told the range of the devices were great which within our small restaurant they kept dropping. One device also wouldn’t charge and when I called the support line was placed on hold for an hour and a half to which was then disconnected and no call back was made despite have my number, this is just a couple a issues we had in the one shift they were used, the list could go on and on. We used these devices literally once and since have been trying to return them. It’s been 7 weeks and I can’t seem to get anyone to take the machines back from clover from paylidify or first data.
I've reached out to as many outlets as humanly possible. They are a leased device so I’ve been charged to have them sitting and collecting dust. I’ve sent 17 email, 27 phone calls to the 1888 number, 14 calls to the rep who signed us up, 8 text messages with that person as well. I’ve now spoken with 11 different people giving me 11 different answers on returning them as to which I’ve jumped thru every hoop and have done all that was asked and still have the units. I’ve been promised 6 times boxes were coming for me to return them which still have yet to come. So currently still have the units which have been used once! Customer support is beyond terrible. In fact arguably the worst I have ever experienced in my life! Was promised I would not be charged for the units and cancellation fees would be waived but have yet to see this happen.
I was dupped. I was told I was signed up for a month to month lease and stuck in a 3 year lease with the inability to cancel if I no longer required their services. I have been paying for an unused service and it is a scam that I will report to the BBB and the Federal Trade Commission.
Please stay away from this company. I wasted thousands of dollars for equipment that is overpriced and you don't keep the equipment. Please go with any other company but this one. The customer service is horrible and they rude, I assume from being yelled at by angry customers.
Took over the business and eventually took over the Clover machine that the previous owner was using. The account was under EXPRESS PAYMENT SOLUTIONS. It was only the first month when we start getting a bill from First Data Global Leasing. Called in, and to find out there's an monthly payment for four years from 2017. They said we signed the agreement when we took over the Clover device, which we did not recall signing for it. Tried asking for more details, and even a copy of the agreement and got nothing back. The sales rep of this Express Payment Solution told us to ignore it because it's a scam.
After two months of ignoring it, we were sent a invoice from a collection company. So we called FDGL again, asking for more information and the signed lease agreement, our reply was "Thanks for calling". This company has all your information, including social security numbers when you sign up with them, which they can use those information to scam you. Stay away from them.
They told me there was absolutely no commitment or term, doing the contract online. When I received the contract I was locked into a 5 year!! They never answer their phones, it's all computer running you around to eventually hang up!!! Total crooks!!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS!!!!
If it was possible would leave a minus score I would, they are holding onto my funds, in excess of 5 figures. It has been established that the funds are mine, they are keeping them because they can! This puts my business in jeopardy, say they intend to hold funds for 180 days and can keep for up to 540 days, most likely put my funds into a high interest account earning them interest while my business struggles. No explanations offered even though asked for on numerous occasions.
Crooks and fraudulent activity. Keep you waiting for return labels that doesn't arrive. Keep charging my account yet I am no longer with them. Con artist of a biblical proportions. Disgusted. Contacting Federal Trade Commission.
I would like to state that please avoid dealing with First Data Global Leasing. His customer service guy called me and started talking about First Data service, since I am a small business owner under proprietorship, was organizing an event, the guy convinced me that he will get me a sponsorship if I use his services, I thought to have a merchandising machine for my event sponsorships sales etc, He made me sign a contract without telling that it is a five year non-cancellable contract. When I asked him what it is written in the paper, he said it is just a formality, and the sponsorship amount was not paid to me. I have been paying the rental fee, without any transaction on the machine as my business was not having that kind of transactions.
Finally after paying for almost two years, I requested the customer service to cancel my subscription to which never responded nor they sent me my signed copy of the contract, finally I removed them from debiting my account directly which caught their attention, immediately they advised me to return the equipment which I did and they acknowledged. Now they are threatening me through collection agency to pay the rental of balance upfront or monthly as according to the contract it is non-cancellable. I told them that my company account is closed so there is no transaction. How and why should I pay. They are not listening and continuously calling me and harassing me. Such a hopeless company, nobody should do business with such type of companies who are always into stealing others hard-earned money.
The company refused to work with me. I had to have the bank leverage their relationship to resolve the issue.
I am a small business owner and have 3 business and we launched a 4th to try and fill a void in a space we already occupied and worked through my bank to set up point of sale purchase system. The bank works with First Data systems. While at the bank, they conferenced me in to speak with a sales rep from First Data and the account manager at the bank. They were friendly and eager and the sales pitch was inaccurate and in my opinion fraudulent. I need to stress that I am a small business. All small business survive in the "margins" and I desired to move to a point of sale system over checks. They told me the equipment was going to be about $850 and that I could spread that over a 36 month period and that I could cancel at any time.
This was not the case at all. (Buyer beware here.) I ended up in a non-negotiable lease for a 36 month period for the equipment and a monthly service charge even if the business shuts down. The lease over a 36 month period came to $3125 and I still would not own the equipment (Clover). Every month for the first 6 months or so, I received letters stating the the fees they were charging me increased.
In month 26 our business shut down. We closed shop. We closed the account called First Data and told them we went out of business and that we no longer needed their services. That's when I was informed that my "cancel any time pitch" was a non-negotiable lease. They demanded a payment of $850 (remember the initial cost of the equipment was $850) and to return the equipment immediately.
That is when the fun started. I told them that the sales pitch was cancel anytime. Technically true. Only to cancel would require a payment of the full 36 months. I begged and pleaded with two reps from First Data. If only I had recorded the conversations. They were brutal. Firm is a polite word. They cut me off every sentence and said that there was no way out of the lease and that they were amused at my request to dissolve the lease.
The last few lines in my 2nd conversation with First Data customer representative went something like this. "I am not at all concerned that your business failed. That's on you. Maybe some business classes would help. I really don't care and furthermore you will pay the remaining balance on your lease and I have a huge legal department that will crush you. You will pay." I was in shock and I asked, "Is there nothing we can do? The business has shut down and all accounts are closed." Rep said, "I have nothing more to talk to you about. You will pay."
I was in shock. Waited a day and then went to my bank. They connected me with First Data and I figured that if they sent me to them they may be able to help. More fun, let me tell you. The bank was completely unable to negotiate or advocate on our behalf at first. They reached out and First Data shut them down too. 30 days later I began getting letters and threatening letters from First Data. I reached out to them again to explain that the business was shut down, accounts closed and equipment returned. They refused to speak to me about anything until the account was paid in full.
Here is an excerpt. "We still look forward to your continued status as our VALUED lease customer. We are still not in receipt fo the above-referenced payment. In addition to the previous amount due, your total sue is reflected above.... Your account with us is in Default and past due. NON-CANCELABLE. TEN DAYS....report to agencies and seek other alternatives to secure the TOTAL past due balance."
So I copied all letters, notices, financial statements and written summary of all interactions with First Data and reported it all to my bank. Things got moving. I received a call from an actual decision maker at my bank. We calculated that the cost of doing business with First Data was "excessive" and the way they treated me and the letters and statements were on the polite side "intimidating". Let me tell you, they go moving. They suggested that I no longer contact First Data and requested everything that I had on First Data. I gladly handed it all over and eventually after a couple of weeks, received a call from a Managing Director at my bank. He was pissed and embarrassed that they had referred me to First Data and he offered to work directly with First Data to resolve this.
During this time First Data turned me/us into the credit bureau and we started getting threatening calls from collectors. The bill including late fees had now ballooned to over $1500 or so. I reported this back to the Bank. After an additional 3-4 weeks, the bank negotiated with First Data and the lease was dissolved and a refund of approximately $250 was returned.... and the Past Due Collections was removed. I can't thank my Bank enough and have let them know.
After this ordeal (and let's be clear, the $1500 or so is not even close to the issue here.) I began to investigate First Data. I found out quite a bit about First Data and why culturally they are simply not a fit for my, our companies nor small business in general. I suggest you do the same. The CEO at First Data is Frank Bisignano and in 2017 his compensation package at First Data came to over $100 million. Yes that's right, $100,000,000.
The health of any economy and all neighborhoods both historically and today is rooted in small business. Small Business need flexibility to survive. Small Business tend to hire people, keep people longer and owners and employees are happier working at and in small businesses. It is not my experience at all that First Data nor its policies are advantageous to small businesses. First Data is a HUGE business and their policies are not flexible, honest nor friendly to small business. Be well and I hope your business grows, your work is meaningful and you are surrounded by the people you love.
Velocity Merchant Service fraudulently advised me that I must use their equipment to process EBT for store. Advised me my clover thru TD bank would not work. Velocity cancelled their merchant contract after complaint to BBB but First Data refuses to take equipment back. The equipment was programmed correctly upon delivery. This is how I found out my cliver from TD bank could process EBT.
Merchant lied about equipment and fees. The equipment could never and can never be used as First Data encrypted it to be used with Velocity Merchant. You can never use another Merchant. Never. They take approx $189 per month for over a year now. The manager advised I do not have video or proof I was lied to. Well they can see Velocity cancelled their contract and they can see no processing or use of equipment ever. This is theft of my bank account and total fraud. They want equipment back and $6000 or more to let me out of the contract. Unbelievable. They will not acknowledge that the premise for the sale was based on false and misleading info regarding processing EBT for USDA. I am very upset regarding this fraud.
I received the Clover System with missing parts and previous owners personal information. So they sent me used and broken equipment. I ended up contacting the previous owner since I had his information and he said that’s his old equipment that he sent back to them that he had problems with! Then I contacted Merchant industries. They blamed it on Clover. So then I contacted Clover, they claim that they didn’t even know we had their equipment because they could not find our account so it took them three weeks to even get it set up and running.
We went through two account managers with merchant industries. Ricky ** who spoke to my partner and I, had told us false information before we even agreed to getting the POS System. Which we have a recording of him giving us the false information. Once he made the sale he was impossible to get in contact with. That account manager was switched to Brian **. He had handle our cancellation and was supposed to be refunding me the money since we never got to use the equipment. Brian ** ignored my calls and would always tell me he would call me back and I never once received a callback from him. I always had to reach out and ask questions to see what was going on with my account.
After he told me it was canceled first day after he told me it was canceled First Data charge my account for $144.38. I received another charge of $90.89 from merchant services. None of these charges were ever suppose to be charged to my account. My account had been canceled and there is no cancellation fee or equipment fee. This company uses your bank information even after you cancel!
Please avoid First Data Global Leasing at all costs. The lease is non cancelable and they make you sign as a personal guarantor. Once you are a "customer" the customer service department is not friendly or helpful. After requesting documentation on the lease several times, I still have not received a signed copy of the lease or the list of equipment that was issued to us. I have removed their access to debit our account directly and that has finally gained their attention. I have been hung up by the customer service department after making a simple request. I will never do business with this company again and I strongly urge you to investigate this company online before proceeding. You will find many poor reviews similar to mine.
We upgraded our POS system and returned the old equipment via FedEx with call tags provided by First Data in November 2018. March of 2019 we get over $1700 removed from our checking account for 'not returning equipment.' We have proof-of-delivery from FedEx that indeed the packages were signed for. After a huge runaround they claim that they 'found' the POS and a printer. Several days later they refunded our checking account for the POS. We are still waiting on the printer refund. At this point we are out $700.00 for the equipment they claim was not returned. The original person helping me was congenial in our first dealings but now they have become belligerent! As said above, proof-of-delivery is just that PROOF OF DELIVERY. If they misplaced our equipment we don't see how that is our fault?! We've contacted the leasing department per a First Data rep, who told us we need to contact First Data.
In reading other reviewers we see that this seems to be just one issue that appears over and over. How can a company get away with such improper business practices? Please, do NOT do business with this company as we would hate to see others have to go through what we are going through. We only picked Sam's Processing because they had a better rate. We now realize that for the pennies we are saving it is so not worth it. Shame on Sam's for representing a company with such bad business practices. Oh and we'd give zero stars but that is not possible. Too bad because this company does not deserve even one star.
This is the worst customer service company that I have ever had to deal with. I wanted to cancel this lease early due to a price increase in services which I was entitled to do in regards to the Code of Conduct agreement that I entered. At one point in the lease, I had an equipment failure and the equipment was changed and this is what precipitated to the breakdown in communications. Their employee did not record the serial number for the new equipment and do the proper paperwork to cancel the old serial number.
Long story short, I spent a total of 5 hours on the phone on two separate occasions with employees that had poor communication skills, in trying to rectify their error, and they still want to invoice me for an early buy out of the lease equipment. This company is linked with First Data Merchant services which provides the data processing service on the POS equipment, and both companies don't communicate well with each other. There are other companies that provide this service and I would recommend that you explore the options.
Thank you for bringing the stated concern to our attention. To better assist with the resolution of this matter please send your Merchant Number or the associated Lease Number via email. Upon receipt we will be able to assist with the resolution of your stated concerns.
The customer service really poor. After finished my contract they still charge monthly fee. I finished my lease MAY 18 2017. Until now, still fighting with them. I mailed the equipment. Was signed with J. ** June 13 2018. Still don't find the equipment. I still pay fee, because I cannot lose my credit. I need to something because I have already more than 6 months fixing this problem, and paying for something that company is no use it. The company was closed at May 2018.
I was tricked into signing a lease agreement on the credit card equipment. I plainly told the agent that I did not want a lease. He assured me that the equipment was free to use as long as I used the Merchant Processing. The E-sign document was so small that it could not be read. Also could not "enlarge" it in order to read it. When I asked what each page was, I was told that it was agreeing to the terms $59 per month and 10 cent transaction fee. That was ALL. I did not get a lease charge on my bank account for two months. When I saw it on my bank statement, I immediately contacted the agent to disagree to a lease. He said that it was non-cancellable. Not what I was told. Tried to contact them again and was unable to get through. Only voicemail. Finally, I faxed a cancellation letter to the Merchant Processing company. Now am receiving calls from a debt collector.
Ascentium Capital is not associated with First Data in anyway. This is why we were unable to find a lease with First Data Global Leasing. They are a separate leasing company used by the sales office that boarded your account. They are technically our competition in the market. As such we have no insight into their leases or terms, and are unable to assist with this matter.
Wells Fargo and First Data offered my company a credit card service. The day I went in I had a migraine headache and listened and said, "Could I just think about it." They told me that there was no pressure if I signed up and I could cancel at any time in the next 30 days if I was not satisfied. I signed and waited two weeks for a consultant who was promised for come out and demonstrate how it works. No one came and I was told to consult with a different department for conference call set up. I called First Data to cancel and they said I needed approval from Wells Fargo.
I called Wells Fargo. They said I needed approval from First data to cancel. This went on for a couple more weeks then First Data said it was fine if I canceled but I had a contract I had to pay for 3 yrs even if I did not use the service. The bank vice president and loan officer of Wells Fargo and Nick, the First Data rep. set this scam up. I have paid 33.00 a month for almost 3 yrs and received no services for it. I had a CPA contact BBB but before it was resolved she had to have cancer surgery and so I continue to pay.
Our restaurant suffered severe smoke damage from a neighboring store's fire. We called the customer support line to get instructions on what to do with the machine during the closure period since we were not using the machine. We were instructed to send it in so that there would not be damage to the machine. When we reopened 11 months later, they told us that we would have to buy-out the current contract at $3,000 and open a new leasing agreement. We called multiple times to get this sorted out as we were instructed to send in the equipment and found it to be ridiculous to essentially have 2 leasing agreement because they 'could not' send out new machines under the current contract.
I would steer FAR away from this company or get everything in writing to support your case. The customer service for this company was rude and not helpful. I asked for an expedited copy of the agreement so I could share it with our insurance company and was told that the team who processes the request were all on vacation for the holidays and she could not help further and then hung-up on me. Be aware!
These criminals operating from Marietta, GA are total scam. They are operating under the First Data/Payeezy/Clover. First they will charge you $300 for their Payeezy gateway. They will offer you a good rate of 1.89%, then within a few months it goes up to 4.5%. They will tell you as long as you fill the PCI compliance questionnaire, you won't get charged, yet you will see $50 monthly charge for this and they will say that you failed to pass the questionnaire even though you point out to them that your PCI is perfectly compliant.
Then, after they stiff you for a couple of months, they terminate your merchant account without notice or cause; and without giving you a grace period to try to find another credit card processor for your business. As such, your business will suffer and you will lose sale and end up with tons of bills to pay without any revenue. And to add insult to injury, they charge you $500 for account termination, even though the agreement says that this charge is applied if you terminate the account and not if they cancel it on you. But of course, they will stiff you no matter what.
These people are inhumane, they should be prosecuted for stealing from hard-working small businesses. Everyone who suffered from them should complain to the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General of the United States. They should go out of business, they are totally rude and their customer service is absolutely abysmal. Not only they are the worst, but it's like dealing with thugs from third-world countries.
I signed up through Clover for my Clover Mini machine to use in my yoga studio. I noticed that they were charging me a lot of money, more than what that lease/contract states. They said that it was because of some PCI scanning compliance. That I hadn't completed it yet, so that's $20 right there. I don't see anywhere in my lease that states that I would be charged for that if it's not completed. So, I finished it and I'm still being charged more money! I emailed them again since it's hard to get anyone on the phone and I haven't had a response back yet. I closed my studio down in February and I called to tell them this since I no longer need the Clover Mini.
They told me that I have to keep paying on the leased equipment until it's paid for even though I'm not using it anymore. I complained and asked to speak with a supervisor and they worked out a buyout for me which was like $400, but I'd have to send the equipment back first. Well that didn't happen! What kind of a deal is that? I wasn't about to send them money and return the equipment that I won't be using anymore. I'm basically paying for a piece of equipment that's probably only worth $200 and then sending it back so that they can refurbish it and sell it to someone else!!! I only had the equipment for a year and I had 2 more years to go on the lease. The buyout price they offered came out cheaper, but they wanted me to pay it off and then send it back. They are out of their minds!!!
I was leasing equipment. My business relocated to a place where a hard phone line is not available. I told First Data and they told me to return equipment. I did and they received but continue to charge me. When I asked why they said the lease cannot be cancelled and that I owe for 19 more months. When I stopped payment they are threatening to hurt my credit report. I complained. Was hung up on twice and told I am being ridiculous. When I asked them to either replace with equipment that works or at least return what I had sent back they refused and said they are not required to. I cannot understand how legally they can charge me for 19 months for something I no longer have, they refuse to return. I have paid for several months without having equipment and am appalled at the rudeness of this company.
First Data is the original issue as they were misleading in their credit card processing. The cards did not get processed into our account for 2 days instead of the 1 day turn around promised. Then when we think we have used up our contract terms, we get surprised with the fact that they have locked you into an additional year with their leasing company. The leasing company is supposedly a different company so there is "nothing they can do". The leasing company has the same name so that is absurd. Finally, after you have spend 3 times the price of buying the terminal outright EVERY month, at the end it's not even yours, you have to arrange to have it sent back. To add insult to injury, if you add up the additional 12 months you think it will take for a buy out, the buyout price is $2200 more than just paying for the rest of the "terms". Unsatisfied. I am looking into a way to get the Federal Trade Commission involved in their scheming.
My experience with First Data Global Leasing has been a terrible experience from the beginning. I have dealt with other merchant accounts before and have NEVER experienced anything like this. I have never used the equipment - don't use First Data but they locked me into a 48 month lease that FDGL will not let me out of. I think they stay in business by people like me paying for nothing and then they still want more money. I figured out my payoff and what they quoted me was more. True crooks. Stay as far away from this company as you can.
I have an issue with the equipment I leased. The lease was through First Data Global Leasing. There is no way to reach them by phone. I have never used my equipment. The reason is because my merchant services provider Global Payment Source gave me misleading information in the beginning to get me to sign a lease.
Global Payment Source said that I would receive equipment that would process credit cards and process checks for a total of $30 per month. The equipment they sent me will only process credit cards. It is a Pax S80. When I received the equipment, I was told to wait, that a separate check processing equipment was due to arrive. This equipment never came. I already have a basic credit card processing machine, which I own. This company scammed me into getting another one, which functions the same, by misleading me and telling me I could also process checks for that price. The account rep communicated to me that processing checks and credit cards would cost me $1440 over 48 months. Now I am finding out a month later that it will cost me $2400 after I purchase a separate check processing service and a required insurance for my credit card reader.
I have been trying to reach First Data Leasing to find out how to send this equipment back. The phone number I have goes to an automated system and I cannot reach a human. I have been inquiring for 2 weeks on how to send this credit card machine back. I have no contact phone numbers other than for the account rep at Global Payment Source. Everyone I call within Global Payment Source transfers me to him. The phone number for First Data Leasing goes to an automated system. I just want to send this machine back since I was not told about the added charges from the beginning. I can’t reach anyone who will assist me. There is a big difference in $2400 and $1440 for the next 4 years to do what I need to do. If the rep had told me to begin with I would have never agreed to this.
Who knows if this will be all the charges. So little was communicated to me in the beginning that I have lost all faith in this company. I feel I have been scammed. All charges involved in the product and service that I needed should have been communicated to me on the first day. Now I am finding out about them one by one. I may be hit with more charges that I do not know about.
This company achieves the rare distinction of being oblivious to the appalling quality of it customer services. Once a month I have to change my password, but once a month the system fails me. I tried to ring them but was defeated because they asked made for the street number of my address. Like millions of others including, the Queen, there is no street number for my address.
As an alternative I was asked to insert my postcode on my phone. There is no facility for entering a postcode. I then tried completing an online inquiry form but I was defeated because the name of my company was rejected. In the end the only method of contacting them was to write a letter, which I have now done. I suspect that this will get me nowhere because they hate their customers so much. I also suspect that I will have to repeat the whole tedious and stressful procedure every month from now on. This company should make a far greater effort to stress test their customer services so that they are user friendly. It is clear that the people who design their procedures are of very poor quality.
We represent a business that just opened on 8/15/2018. This week on 9/12 we discovered that our normal deposit that should have been in our bank account from 9/10 sales was not there. After going to our bank (BB&T) they informed us that a deposit had not been received on 9/12. My business did not receive a deposit on 9/12/2018. After contacting Clover Network Merchant Services we were provided with some information. We called back today to work out a resolution. We spoke with Will initially in collections. He then transferred the call to Jay ** (supervisor). Jay advised what we owed. He acknowledged an agreement to pay back the funds over 5 months. He said that he was taking the automatic payback and withdrawal of deposits out of the system. He then said that he would email the "finance" department to work on getting back the funds that were taken or withheld.
We called him back leaving two voicemails after not receiving any promised emails after 7 hours from the call. We then called back and got to Courtney ** (Supervisor) he was very rude, abrasive, nasty, and unprofessional. We do not have a resolution to date and need it addressed ASAP. We prefer to never speak with Courtney ** again and we want all calls today reviewed. Thank you for assistance in advance.
Stay away from this unscrupulous company with their bait and switch tactics. They cold call small business asking you if you would like to save money on your credit card processing fees. Of course, who wouldn't want to save money on credit card processing. I was sold a 1% processing fee on all of my credit card transactions with a monthly payment of $349 per month to get that rate. The $349 monthly fee was not a buy down fee to get the 1% as their slimy salespeople would have you believe. What you are really doing is signing up for a 48 month equipment lease on credit card processing machines.
I used their processing gateway for less than a week for a total credit card charge volume of $8843. I got my first debit from my bank account today for $741.62. This fee minus the $349 per month leaves $392.00 in discount fees bringing the total discount fee to 4.43%. Beware if you sign up with this unethical outfit. You will not be getting a 1% discount rate on your charge volume. What you will be signing up for is a 48 month nonrefundable lease with First Data Global Leasing. #baitandswitch #scamartists #BuyerBeware
Signed a lease based on the recommendation of Wells Fargo Bank. Should have been more careful and a lot less trustful. First Data gets you to sign a lease because the jacked up price of their machine is so much money. If you stop using Wells Fargo or close down and try to return the equipment they don't allow you out of the lease and send you to collections. They are the worst...never ever sign with them. There are plenty of other ways to get the equipment for much less if not free from processors that want your business. Do your homework and don't use your Bank recommended machines. They get a cut of the price. We will pay but we will remember and pass on the horrible outcome to everyone we can.
Company agreed that once equipment has been returned and received, the lease will be cancelled and I will be released of the obligation.
I spoke with a business consultant on Tuesday, August 7 and expressed the need to be able to process checks. I explained that I have several customers in Puerto Rico who prepay for items manufactured in my business. Although Puerto Rico falls under United States laws, I would like to eliminate the risk of shipping completed items overseas, not knowing first if a check will clear. Anytime an item goes overseas, no matter who the country is governed by, due to ocean freight shipping rates, it can be costly to recover them. Since I have clients who want to send checks, I would like to be able to process those checks. The business consultant I spoke with offered up the Clover Mini device, stating I would simply use the device to take a snapshot of the checks and the checks could be processed. This business consultant provided me with a contract to sign to lease the equipment for 36 months.
When I received the equipment, I downloaded a Telecheck app, as previously instructed. When using the Telecheck app, I found that the equipment, as shipped, would not work if the customer is not present. I would need a scanner to go along with the equipment. I called the number on the screen of the device to request that scanner. I was told, "This is Telecheck support, you need to speak with First Data Leasing." First Data Leasing seemed confused and said the device should simply take a snapshot of the check. I went through what the device screen indicated. I was then transferred to another department within First Data who offered me the scanner for around $250 or $25 per month. I said I should not have to pay additional costs because I communicated my needs to my Business Consultant, who did not disclose to me that I needed this additional component.
I was told to contact my Business Consultant's department. I previously emailed her, but received no response throughout the day and I had lost her number. I was given a number to her supervisor, whom I left a message for. I called back to the equipment ordering department again and this time, I was quoted over $450 for the scanner with no option of a monthly lease. I was rudely told this is firm and I am required to pay. It got late in the afternoon, so I stopped calling. This morning, I boxed up the equipment and inquired about sending it back. I called First Data Leasing, who got me back in touch with the Business Consultant's supervisor, who said the Business Consultant would be providing information on how to return the equipment.
After not hearing back, the entire day, and still not having the business consultant's phone number, I contacted First Data Leasing again. I was told I could return the equipment within 60 days but I would need to speak with a Client Engagement department. The Client Engagement department advised that I am obligated to this contract regardless of whether or not it was communicated to me that I would need to spend money on the additional component to go with the device to scan checks. The client engagement department would not provide information on how to return the machine. I now have this machine packaged and ready to return. No one will tell me who to send it to.
The representatives I speak with tell me that I am obligated to the contract, although the machine does not meet my needs and it wasn't communicated to me that I am required to pay over $450 for an additional component to make the machine function as I need it to. First Data has scammed me into this 36 month contract by not communicating to me that I need the additional component to process checks that are mailed to me from a company overseas. Other consumers need to beware of them. It seems to me that once my signature hit that contract, all customer service diminished. Now, the only communication I receive from them is how I am obligated to this contract and can't get out of it. This equipment is difficult to us and essentially useless to me and they won't even let me return it, gloating that they have me obligated to a contract.
Beware of the Clover/First Data Global Leasing Program. I received the equipment a short wait ago (2 weeks)... and wanted to return it. I have never used it. I'm unable to return it without a cancellation fee. I never had the opportunity to touch and feel the products until it was shipped to me. I received the equipment through Bank of America Merchant Services. SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS... PLEASE BEWARE OF FIRST DATA GLOBAL LEASING PROGRAM.
I am cheated by this company. They told me I can cancel my lease and return back my clover device at the end of my store but I tried to do so. They are torturing me that I cannot. I have to pay $1650 around to buyout or something and have to return back those items to them. I would have bought one iPad for $400 and register for $65 but now they are charging me every month $66.85. I have to pay 36 months more to cancel my contract. This **. Trust me never go with this company... I am cheated.
I lease a machine and closed the business 6 months later and there is no way out if you won't pay us 3,800. Be very careful when sign. The bank are part of the robbery then bank wash the hand and tell you they only put you in contact with them. My girlfriend have an account for 2 years and they start send her email asking her to sign online and now they came out with a new lease that she don’t remember she sign and sent her to collection. Be very careful what you sign with this people. Easy to get in impossible to get out without lose $3000. If you have same issue let's get together to fight those people and bring this to the Congress investigation. I heard more than 6 people around me have going thru some kind of robbery by them. Not sure who ask for help but be careful if you going to do business with them.
A company of liars & scam artists. Our salesperson set us up with 2 First Data contracts with 2 different companies without our knowledge, but both using First Data as the merchant service processor. Why would they even take 2 contracts from 2 separate businesses for the same client? Now we are locked into a 4 year contract unless we want to pay $3000 to buy our way out. We later found out that our "sales" person had previously done time for defrauding the elderly out of their life savings. Either they don't do background checks at all, or they knowingly take multiple contracts from known con artists just to get your money.
Shady. All around. Worst merchant service provider we've ever had. Lied and tried to say we didn't return equipment and wasted our operations manager's time arguing about the fact that we had a UPS verified delivery with signature. Square. Shopify Payments. Amazon is about to enter this space. Can't wait for the meteor to hit all these merchant service dinosaurs that have been ripping us all off for decades.
As with the numerous other posts indicate First Data is something less than a forthright company. Just recently I found that they filed a debt of 1000 for use of a credit card machine that I returned several years ago when my business closed. I called them and was met with pass-offs and dis-connects. Wells Fargo set me up with this company so I think they are in part responsible. It is also worth noting that Wells Fargo no longer uses First Data.
I was told they were monthly processing fees and that the equipment was standard, even though I didn’t need it. Ended up in 48 month lease for over 20k. The equipment has never left. The box and has never been needed. When I called them, they laughed and said I agreed and I should have understood it before I signed it. I wish I would have and obviously thought I did understand it but they kept interchanging terms like offline debit and pin based debit and saying fees were just part of the processing fees and not for equipment.
Got stuck in a ridiculously expensive and long term contract through the help of my Wells Fargo banker. When I asked if I should buy or lease he told me to lease it for sure. Never mentioned there is a 4 year contract. 4 Years. Over $2000 of leasing payments for a $500 machine. Complained to Wells Fargo and First Data and both couldn't care less. I signed the contract. 2 years into it I purchased a POS machine with a much better rate and continued to make the leasing payments for the remaining 2 years. Huge Rip Off.
They tied me into a 4 year contract and I just wanted to leave and to be honest happy to pay to get out due to their ruthless pricing and awful customer service. I was given a bill for the last 12 months left of my contract which should be 12 x £37.24 at 446.40 but I got charged another £300 on top for no good reason at all. They sent the bill to my accountant's office so I didn't get it for a month and they charged me another month on top as I was late in paying them and when I asked to see my contract they wanted to charge a £12 administration fee, I was so annoyed but just pleased to see the back of them. Please be warned they will charge you for everything!
I open a 2 small shaved ice businesses. After 6 months I had to close due to business being slow. I had opened a small business account with Bank of America to start my business, when I was opening it, the guy helping me said, "Are you processing credit cards", I told him I wasn't sure. He said, "Well you need credit cards to make it in business." And he went on his sales pitch to tell me that they had the clover system with NO CONTRACT and to try it out and cancel if I wasn't happy. I TRUSTED him. I signed so many contracts and papers and was mentally overwhelmed with all I had going on. I signed and didn't notice the SMALL print for First Data putting you in a LONG ASS CONTRACT. I TRUSTED my BANKER. I have always used BANK OF AMERICA. I didn't think He would lie to me.
Well months later... Unfortunately I had to close both my locations. I called First Data and asked how to send back the equipment. They said I couldn't. I was in a 5 YEAR CONTRACT!!! I'm like WHAT??? So I call the Bank and they tell me the merchant services is no contract but the equipment was. I didn't understand how they could do that to me. 2 years later I'm still paying. I tried to settle and they charged me $480 after paying 2 years of $60. This equipment is not worth that. I sent it back and paid the settlement. TODAY I wake up after settling with them and they charged my account $200 again. I'm still paying the 2nd one monthly $60. And I can't seem to get ahead with them. They are thieves and snakes. This is the worst experience I have EVER had with a company. I did NOT allow them to keep charging my account. I don't know what to do anymore.
First of all check this (well you are right I did make that mistake). POS system is $350. I got 2 that makes $700. Guess how much I paid after I signed up for lease? You would say $1000 or so. NOPE! $3500 plus TAX. And I couldn't even OWN it. They asked 500 something to own the POS system. And worse thing is, even I would pay that amount I cannot still use it with different bank. WHAT A SCAM. Which era are we living. These Systems cannot be reprogrammed.
I terminated my contract at 18 months with Paymentsense/FDGL as the charges for the rental of the terminal from FDGL and processing charges from Paymentsense were very expensive! I could cancel out at 18 months (Sept 2017) for a charge which I paid and sent back the terminal to Janus House, Basildon. Cheque and terminal were sent in the same package and recorded delivery. The cheque was cashed but they deny receiving the terminal, and send out further invoices for the rental plus arrears charges.
The harassment is quite severe with phone calls which I refuse to take. I have asked for a detailed billing and keep writing to them saying they have the terminal! My letters keep getting ignored and they just send out more arrears charges. I am now writing to Paymentsense, to the same complaints team that I first registered my disappointment with - I don't think I will get much help!! I used to be with World pay which was top class in comparison. I now have a sensible cheap system much more suitable for a small business.
I terminated my contract with First Data back in August 2017. I sent back the terminal in August and last week they sent me a letter advising me to send them a terminal within 14 days otherwise I have to pay around £900. It’s same thing happen to Mike from Sheffield as after 6 months I couldn’t find the post office receipt with the tracking number so I’m but in ** now.
First Data is a large payment processor and their reach is far and great. Many large merchant banks or POS Businesses actually go through First Data for equipment leasing including; Booker, Capital, Cathy, Citi, Peoples, Sterling, Suntrust, and Wells Fargo. As a small business, if you bank with one of these companies or want to use a Clover System, you are at the mercy of First Data. They determine, whether or not you qualify, to purchase a POS system. Then they are the ones that trap small business into a long term lease for a piece of equipment that cost at the most $200, but the lease is $35-100/m for 3-5 years.
Even if you have excellent credit (780), if their credit systems "Auto Declines" you/your business, once again you at are their mercy. This is what happen to us. We are a new business with great credit, and we need a POS to actually open. We use Booker and bank with Wells Fargo. We had $250k build out, another $200k in equipment, everything is in place, but we can't open because First Data Auto Declined us. Their reason we have a First Data collection account?!? We/they called First Data collections and had them run our social, EIN, and MID numbers and there is nothing in collections. First Data acknowledges there is clearly an error in the Auto Decline process, but they are unable to resolve the issue and it must go through the process. They apologize. So many apologies. Promise they are working with credit to resolve. All attempts to escalate go nowhere. Over 3 weeks later, we are still waiting. Still not able to open.
We have called other companies, and the conversation ends, when we ask, "Who do you use to lease the equipment," or "who will be approving our equipment lease," and the answer is First Data. We have our retirements invested in this new business. Our community is excited for our new venture, but it requires us to be able to run credit card transactions. Each day we are not able to open. We lose money. First Data doesn't care. They have to go through their slow process. Unable to escalate despite it clearly being their error.
This company is full of crooks and liars. Stuck in a contract with devices that don't work for **! Hidden fee's out the ying and they take 12% of all sales. What a joke. There should be a major lawsuit against this company! DO NOT USE CLOVER OR FIRST DATA! Save yourself the hassle!!!
I have leased credit card equipment from First Data Global Leasing. The 5 year term was up and I received a letter from them on how to return the equipment. I noticed that the serial number on the equipment was not the same as the equipment I had so I called the number listed. I was told that I would have to contact my merchant service company for a swap form and that I could not return the equipment until they had the swap form. After several attempts to contact my merchant service company I called First Data back and they had a different number to call so they put me on hold and called the number they had. They connected me to the call and I was emailed the swap form with the correct serial number and they emailed First Data as well. When I called First Data to make sure they received the email, they said they had not. I then emailed it to them and checked a week later to make sure they received it and at first they said they did not.
After persistence on my part I was able to have them keep checking. They finally said they found the email but said that the system had not been updated with the correct information. I told them that I was waiting to send the equipment back and that they were charging me $150.63 each month and I wanted someone who would follow up with me. That was on a Friday and Cashmere employee ID #** said she would expedite the update but it may not be until the following Tuesday, she would call me to let me know the status because I was still being charged for the equipment.
I called on Wednesday and got the run around again about the update. Meanwhile I have sent the equipment back because I was sick of waiting, but am still being charged $150.63. I feel my only resolution would be to file a lawsuit. Let this be a lesson to anyone reading this, when you allow a company to automatically deduct payments from your account, you are at their mercy to stop charging you especially when it is in their best interest to keep charging you.
First Data Global Leasing conniving with Wells Fargo to get you to sign a 36 months ($54/month) contract on a piece of equipment that only worth $300 to buy outright and don't even own the equipment after the terms. They don't give you option to terminate the contract early. How could they get away with this robbery? We need class action lawsuit filed against this company. The CEO of this company should be in jail not on the street.
This company it is totally **. They will screw you up no matter what. Their sales rep will sign a lot of thing behind you. Don't believe me? You can get them a try. I have auto batch everyday that I never asked and they did for me because it is a charge for it. They send me a lot of copy papers every month which I never request but they send it to you because it is a charge. Their rate is extremely high compare to others but the rate which were different when you offer you before you sign the contract. Once you signed the contract? Okay that's it. They start to ** play the game with you. No matter what you do they don't give **. They just charge you, charge you and ** charge you. Don't believe me? Okay get them a try.
Please do your research before doing any business with First Data. They don't care about the customer or their ignorance. They only care about the $$$. They will try to sell you their precious and obsolete credit card reading machines, sell you on false promises of lower credit card rates. They lease you machines that are worth 1/3 of the total lease price. It's actually pretty ridiculous, you can purchase a Used IPAD and buy a credit card swipe reader and you're set... I came in a company a bit after they were sold into these useless CLOVER devices. Huge waste of money. They require you to return the product after spending so much money on it or you can buy it for ONLY $300 more than the total lease price. WHAT A BARGAIN! Almost $5000 for a crappy iPad look alike.
I'm stuck on a contract after I sold my business. I would definitely not recommend this service at all. There's a non breakable contract that you will regret for the rest of your life. Someone should do something about these corrupt companies, at the bank they will not explain about the contract. It's up to you guys. I hope you don't end up here, giving a bad review. Just watch out for these robbers with no guns but with a license to do it.
After reading other reviews, seems this company survives on taking advantage of small businesses. I also changed merchant services after my two year agreement had ended. I was later told that I had signed a 48 month contract with First Data merchant services. The agreement I had read carefully only obligated me to 24 months. These people are trying to get me to continue paying for an additional 24 months. They are very good at bait and switch, and not disclosing all of the information. PLEASE BEWARE AND DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING WITH THESE CROOKS!!
Credit card processing machine in the box that I have never used. I have asked for a copy of the lease & always receive other forms. This has gone on for 21 months. The last time they faxed me a contract that was 4" tall. I could not read anything. I have tried to negotiate a buyout of the machine, which they will agree to, but they say it will impact my credit. They have ZERO ethics. They do not care if you are happy with their services, as long as, they get paid. It is futile to deal with the IDIOTS on the phone. AVOID doing business with them.
This company will completely screw you on merchant services. They lock you in at a specific rate and then charge you so many fees that it is impossible to do business. Their customer service reps ignore any type of contact so that you can’t get anything resolved. I ended up switching to another company.
A few months back First Data had terminated my contract which disable my card machine from taking payment. Now just received a letter that I now owe them for the rest of the contract term amount £347. I've rang them explaining how can they disable my services and then I still have to pay for remainder of the contract. They did not care and about 10 times told me if I don't pay it will affect my credit rating (I'm sure that's called blackmail) so I now have 30 days to try and fight this and as a small business don't have a clue what to do and feel that I'm just getting robbed of my hard earned money. Very unfair.
I've been screwed by this company so many times, for a machine that costs $200. I have to pay $2,000 now, all thanks to their bait and switch scheme they have going on there. Please do your research so you do not fall into the same trap I did!
They robbed me for more than 2 years. I did everything to get rid of them, many phone calls, took notes, got accurate numbers, asked every detail to end the account and I was promised by them that every step was completed. At this time I had already paid to them a thousand dollars without using their terminal which was already disconnected for a year and the account closed.
Now I have just realized that after that they were charging me $31,74 every month for almost 2 years after closing everything. They said the information I got from the person I have talked to was inaccurate and that's why I've been charged for 2 years after closing everything and expended one thousand dollars. And for me to end this nightmare and stop paying $31,74 a month for more years I need to paid them more $151,44!!! After a fight she said she could make it for $80 and that's it. Agree or not agree? They are robbers, professional robbers working for Citibank.
Ended our agreement with this company back in February 2017 and returned their terminals. Today out of the blue we received a letter stating that they haven't received their terminal back and if not returned within 7 days they want £700.00 plus VAT. Disgusting that a company would think that they can come back after nearly 8 months stating that they haven't received their equipment. I returned the equipment by recorded delivery so they can whistle for their money. To be honest I think they are trying it on, I believe that they think that if they leave it several months then we won't have proof of the return and therefore can get away with charging. Do not go anywhere near this company. They are crooks!
First Data have charged my company over £900 for NOT sending my old terminal back - but the fact is I DID send it back and had proof (recorded delivery). Within 1 minute of me telling them this they JUST FOUND the terminal all of a sudden, less than 1 minute. I was then told it would be 10 DAYS - yes 10 days before it would be reimbursed. 10 days past and now I have been told the same thing again. Disgusting.
I have sent three other disputes over the last 3 months and the response reported that you had reported correctly and so the hit on my credit remains. I contacted your company and talked with many of your employees. They could not help me and referred me to their supervisors. Andrea ** and Amanda **. I have called these people well over 20, that's right, over 20 times over a 3 month period and was never able to talk to them. I left a message each time with my name, my problem, my account number and my phone number asking them to return my call. I have never heard from either of them. The report that I had missed 3 payments is incorrect. You deduct my payments directly from my bank account each month and you have never missed debiting my bank account each month.
Was roped into this lease by Merchant Associates located in San Diego, Ca. Was promised lower rate on merchant sales and would be provided with free upgrades for Merchant Equipment. After I receive equipment I was sent a contract for leasing the equipment. In the past I always brought or was supplied with Merchant Service Equipment, now I am being told that I had to pay for the lease even if I brought the equipment. I was quoted over $1,900.00 for equipment you could buy anywhere for less than $500.00. I returned the equipment and they said I could buy out the contract for $1,627.70. Or they would report me to credit reporting companies.
From the first day that I started using the equipment I had problems. Every time we would do point of sale, we would get error of no host, would get notice of transaction void, and would run the card again and the card would be charge twice. I was on the phone with Merchant Associates or First Data two or three times a week, each time getting a different answer. I close my account with Merchant Associates and First Data Leasing. I also close my business checking account so they could not continue to rob my accounts. I will be reporting both companies to the BBB.
Company supposed to be cheaper and they are ripping me off every month now taking out money every month out of my acct. Charging me 4 times the amount it should be!!! I changed companies to a better one and still have to pay for this lease of equipment I'm not using!!! Total Rip Off.
I was told I could try a new credit card service and cancel at any time with no fees. Person I set this up with was Levell ** with card services. After receiving statement it was not what was quoted. I have been trying to reach him for 2 days. Phone goes to voice mail. So I have pulled his service. Merchant #s **. After calling to cancel and send back your machines ordered by Levell you tell me I have to pay for the machines Levell ordered. I have your machines and mailing back now. I will do whatever is needed. But will not pay for machines ordered by Levell and told I could drop at any time if not happy with services with no charges. If you need to pay let Levell or card services.
First Data and TransFirst Company Merchant Services is bad, they make you sign long term lease credit card equipment machine, and CC machine cost only $300. We are having to pay for 48 months $1700.00, and they make you end of lease another 10% to buy it. I do not use this company anymore, they cannot do anything for me, I still have to pay monthly charges. Customer services is bad too. If you shop around all other company offer you good rate with free equipment to use and end of 3 or 4 year terms all you have to mail equipment back to them. DO NOT SIGN ANY CONTRACT WITH FIRST DATA OR TRANSFIRST.
FIRST DATA ARE A BUNCH OF THIEVES! In 2015 I called GoDaddy to set up a web store. The package I bought comes with the merchant account already set up (First Data). I began to add items to the website and sales started to come in. The sales were completely automated through GoDaddy software and processed through first data (I did not run the cards myself). Recently I received a letter stating I was getting a charge back for some goods that were bought. I provided all of the information to First Data showing where the purchase came through my website approved by first data and other pertinent information like the shipping confirmation, etc.
The chargeback was won by the bank and the money was removed from my account and sent back to the card owner, reason was that the internet security functions were not turned on. (address verification, zip code verification, CVS verification.) Now I am receiving multiple chargebacks and First Data is charging me thousands of dollars to process the chargebacks and withholding deposits to my account as well as stopping credit cards from processing through my site. Today I found out that someone from First Data had went onto my account and started messing with parameters so that transactions would not process. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I have lost tens of thousands of dollars because of them and I am currently in litigation with them.
Got the sales call from United Card Solutions, promised big savings, had them compare invoices and was going to save half of what the other company charged, when I received the first statement double the amount, called immediately and no response, cannot get a hold of the sales people, only support and they just talk their way around. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! I will be paying for years to get out the lease, First Data. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
I really do not know where to start to fully review this company - our experience with this company has been one of horror at its lack of ethical practices. There is simply no integrity. Buyer be aware! The worst company ever.
BUYERS BEWARE! When processing a credit card, the company pre-authorizes transactions, lets the customer leave with a "successful payment". However 30 minutes later the payment actually fails. You then have to take the time to call into tech support. Give them the ticket #s so they can give you the customer's credit card information, so you can manually enter in hopes the customer now has money. If the card continues to fail, you just have to keep repeating this process.
HORRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICE!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL. THEY ARE DOING NOTHING TO FIX THIS (as stated, it makes sense to them). WHAT!!! In the last 6 months I have discovered 4000.00 dollars of unrecoverable funds. I was told by support if I try to re-run the transaction and the customer disputes it they will win, even though I have a pre-authorized receipt as well as an order receipt showing they ate at my restaurant. Run fast and find a better service or you will be spending a ton of time trying to reconcile failed credit transactions.
I worked with them for about 6 month and ended my contract as of April due to ridiculous money they take from my business. It's June and they are still withdrawing money from my account. They are saying it's not refundable and we can withdraw because it's a "transaction processing fee." They have already taken out more than 1000 in May for April's fees. Terrible company that makes money off of small businesses, they take advantage of owners who are unable to fight back. DO NOT WORK WITH THEM. COMPLETE MONEY SCAM.
Expect First Data Global to enforce every charge to the full extent of the lease agreement/contract for the term of the contract. Their business practices are ruthless. In my case, they operate with the cover and full support of Wells Fargo bankers. A reasonable business person would do well to avoid both.
I initially signed up for a lease I was unaware of through Capitol Processing in 2012. By the time early 2015 came around, they had 3 leases for one of my business locations, and will not provide the initiating paperwork. I got hung up on today while they were "Researching", and when I got time to call back, there was an unforeseen emergency and I have to call back at another time. These leases require me to pay almost $4000 for a Verifone VX20, which I recently received FREE OF CHARGE from another provider. They are a ripoff, dishonest, scam of a company.
They mislead me when I first contacted them. They lied to me about their fees and other insurance products added to my contract without mention it to me. If you call them for services they put you on hold forever between hour or 2 hours. I am not exaggerating. I advise everyone not to deal with them.
I signed up with Clover at my Huntington Bank. The sales lady told me I was getting a $100 credit to offset the charge for the card reader and some of the monthly charges. I didn't get the credit. She also said that funds would be processed and in my account the next business day. This is also a lie as they don't get them into the account until, at best, the middle of the next day instead of at midnight like all other processors. They also have customer service from a call center in the Dominican Republic. THIS IS THE WORST CARD PROCESSOR ON THE FACE OF THE PLANET. AVOID AT ALL COST OR SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES.
I was told the rates would be 20 to 40% lower than with Heartland and that the processor would be able to integrate with my POS (Softtouch) at no cost to me. I gave the salesman two months of statements. I signed an agreement that had a 30 day return if I was not satisfied. When I was called to confirm the Lease agreement I told the operator this and she hung up never confirming my agreement. These scammers not charged me more than Heartland but they messed up the install and were using wrong bank accounts to make deposits and lease charges. When I demanded they pick up their equipment the salesman could not be found and when I mailed it with FedEx they claim they never received. What a terrible company. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!
FDGL is part of United Card Processing. Both have ripped me off with aggressive sales and then getting me to sign an agreement and then telling me I didn't qualify for their system. It was a bait-and-switch. I thought we were done after they denied our original agreement, but they pulled money from my account and FDGL is trying to get over $2000 for equipment I have never seen or used. Class action suit is very much necessary to stop their scamming practices.
I signed a business account through Wells Fargo and decided to TRY their service for accepting credit cards. I was told the monthly fee but was also told that I could cancel at any time as that was important to me because I was just starting out booth renting on my own in a hair salon. After using the service and paying for 6 months I realized there were a lot of fees involved that there were not with other companies. So I went back to the bank, told them I no longer wanted to use First Data and gave them the equipment.
I have since received a bill for over a thousand dollars and when I try to call and explain what happened to me I was told that there was a four year contract that I signed whether I knew it or not and that I must pay it. I cannot afford this?? Then when trying to explain I have been hung up on and told it's not their problem and I must pay by a very, very rude group of people. I have never seen such a horrible company who lies, and has such horrible customer service in my life. So now they are putting this on my credit even though clearly they are frauding people left and right and straight out lying to people!!
I was scammed from the get go and didn't even know it till it was too late. We run a small handyman service and someone replied to our ad said he needed a quote for a job repair. He sent me address. I look it over, call him and gave him a price with a deposit required. He agreed. Wanted to charge his card for job. I told him, "Yes, I have a PayPal account." He said he would like to use Clover and persuaded me to use Clover so my fiancé and I started a basic clover account. He charged his card and it went through. I then instructed customer we would start when Clover reviewed transaction and funds were clear. Please note that Clover holds charges for 24 hours but Clover held funds for five days and funds cleared so we started work 3 days after funds cleared.
A company First Data tries to overdraft our bank over 9 thousand dollars. We were livid. Said the charges were fraudulent. We disputed and were angry that as usual 24 hour hold to clear funds they took 5 days to make sure funds were good so either the scam artist who screwed us knows Clover has loopholes or is a employee for that company and has access to card numbers. First Data refused to do an investigation and go after the criminal instead trying to flip us with the bill. We then received a letter in the mail stating we owe the 749 dollars to settle for some of responsibility for loss. We complied and thought it was done and cancelled services. 2 weeks later we received a letter saying we owe the 9.548 dollars.
This company needs to be brought down. I will be filing a civil lawsuit against them for punitive damages and pure negligence. Never deal with Clover or First Data. I plan to make a forum for people having issues with this sorry company and get petitions signed and take them to Supreme court. There's just too much coincidence and shady activities with these two companies.
At the end of the contract we returned the terminal (by recorded delivery), within two weeks they automatically send out an invoice for the terminal for £300 saying they have not received it back. When you ring them and give them the tracking number they automatically tell you to ignore the letter/invoice. Underhand tactics, not happy with them, would not recommend them.
I signed up for Clover Go in September and within weeks my tablet didn't recognize device. I couldn't use for 6 months and called many times with hours on phone. I finally did hard reset on my tablet and set it up again this March and began using again until today, March 30th, it started not recognizing device again. Spent an hour on phone and no help. Finally was able to fix it myself. Terrible technical support, device glitch and can't use. Also, was being charged a penalty the entire time for not having done the security verification which I had done. They would not refund. When I get home I want out of my contract!!!!
I was offered a free desktop terminal if I purchased one. Yes I purchased a wireless terminal since I was receiving a desktop terminal for free. However, I never received the desktop terminal and used the wireless one. The wireless terminal does not stay powered off the charger for no more than 2 hours. After complaining about the free terminal to First Data, they agreed to cancel me with my defective wireless terminal. Never once came to fix the terminal, just cancelled me so they don't have to deal with the lies they offered. I'm out $1400.00 for a terminal that doesn't work properly, but took out their fees. A terminal cost $650.00 plus, so don't put money in these sales agents pockets.
On top of that I have never received the free terminal. The contract was send through email a month and a half later so I have no reference to what I am charged. I am going to civilly sue the agent that convince me to buying a merchant terminal to get one free. I have no way of getting back my money or fixing this defective terminal. Plus after cancellation they still take out fees. Someone from that company has to take accountability of what they did to me!
We also, have been ripped off by this company. We ordered a Clover machine in June 2016. We ordered a mini iPad and was shipped a full stationary register. Payments began to be taken out of our business account before we could even return the equipment. We tried to explain to everyone who would listen, but we contently kept being put on hold and transferred to department after department until we would hang up. For months I kept calling and calling. Clover said they would send us a return tag every month for 4 months. First Data Global Leasing would not stop taking money from our account! We should not have been billed due to having the wrong equipment shipped to us in the first place.
We had to finally have our account closed, we refused to pay the shipping price to have the equipment shipped. It cost $120.00 to ship the equipment. But First Data Leasing Kept taking different prices from our account. The only way to stop them was to cancel our bank account and they had the nerve to call for payment! I couldn't believe it!
It took me 3 years to finally divorce my company from First Data after terrible products were pushed on me. I now have to continue paying $40 per month for a lease on a terminal I delivered via UPS which I fully paid out??? And the service rep I spoke to really doesn't care, I don't know what to do next???
When it comes to bad companies First Data is king. They are a horrible company that somehow continues to withdraw money from my account even after I have closed the service and my account with them. I'm getting ready to sue them for fraudulent charges. Initially they do not want to refund you the money. You have to call many times and often talk to a supervisor. If you encounter this company run away and if you do business with this company you must close your account so that they do not have your account information. Also be ready with a lawyer to sue them.
We have a card terminal from First Data, they are ok when all is going well but soon as you have a problem they don't want to know and just lie to get you off the phone. Cost my company £4500.00. DO NOT USE FIRST DATA.
We are victims of this awful company as well. They sent us a machine to use and it broke down after 8 months of use. They sent us a new battery. After 16 calls to them it worked for a little while and broke again. They promised to send us a new machine and continued to charge our account monthly fees for a machine we could not use. We tried to cancel and they said this was a non cancellable contract and yet would not send us a new machine to use. We sent the broken one back and still did not receive a replacement. They have turned us in to collections. My email is **.
If you have the option to use a different service do so before you regret it. I was signed up for them as a complementary (obligatory) package of my checking account. Their service is unreliable. My business had to start using PayPal (I'm not getting paid to mention them). Clover Services was masked underneath the bank's "Merchant Service". Once their service proved useless I tried closing the account to find out there is a $500 early termination fee or a monthly fee that I need to pay until the 3-year contract ended. The contract went on as the bank account forced me to maintain it. Two month before the 3-year contract ended they charge the $500 early termination fee. Now I'm stuck in their collection department which is efficient unlike their customer service.
I have been in business for over 30 years. I know how merchant processing works by now but was still taken advantage of these companies. I own my own machine. I bought it outright for 189.00. This company cold called me and I told them I owned my own machine. They told me they were giving me a free one. They end up charging me 59.99 a month. It has coming separate out of my bank account.
I find out through United Card Solutions I signed a contract. I knew I sign one. The other two I did not. They took my photo signature and copied it on the contracts. Now United Card Solutions is add more fees each month. I have been scammed. I paid 50.00 to my bank to stop taking charges out. This is just fees without using this company that's not counting the 59.99 monthly from First Data. How can they get away with this??? The government needs to go after these scams.
I was contacted yesterday by email from Canadian POS with an offer for better processing rates. I did not respond but I did read the email, which offered about the same amount for the rate as I am paying now. Today I had a very aggressive and slimy fellow named Jerry call me. He started with a bad opening line of "Is this the famous actress Catherine". Like we were on a bad singles cruise in the 70s. Anyways he said he was from First Data and Canadian POS and that he needed my statement to SAVE me from all the ripoff from the company I was using now was doing to me. I asked him to send me his best rates through email and I would have a look. He did not like that and asked why I was being like this.
Luckily I was in front of my computer and did what I always do when I get these calls. I googled the company and was sent to this website. Thank you to everyone who posted about this company. I then told Jerry I was getting off the phone and if he had better rate he could send it in writing. The email I received from my good friend Jerry was not nice. All in capitals that I have hurt his ear when I slammed down the phone and that I had wasted his time. Well at least Jerry was right about that I was wasting his time. Thank you for posting and getting the word out about all the issues with this company and saving me from signing up.
I'm shopkeeper. First Data agent come to my shop called Zahid and said to me "this is a very easy terminal, very cheap. After this you can accept direct debit card credit. Only £20 a month. If you wish to cancelled you'll need to pay only £50." I was agreed and signed. Later on company was charging me a lot. When I contact with agent he said "do not call me, call First Data." Then I contact First Data, they said "if you wish to cancelled lease you have to pay for full 5 year." It was approx £800. I was very upset, explained "your agent was saying £50." They said "no you signed, look to your agreement." Yes that's true. I did signed trust on agent.
I'm informing you please, please do not signed until you complete read and understand any agreement. First Data was taking money from my account. After 3 years I paid £240 to rid off from them. Total I paid for nothing because I signed. This is very bad company, agent are not trustworthy.. I'll say to all shopkeeper, please, please do not join First Data. And I already informed them "I'll write against you." Good luck. Thanks for reading.
With interest in this company we listened to all the details. With a promise of equipment ready for us in 1 week and the sales rep Candyce to program it, it never happened. Almost 4 weeks later equipment showed up and we immediately gave it back, we had already canceled any and all need for this company. 3 months later the company is still taking money from my account. We have filed a grievance with the State Comptroller over the matter, however I urge anyone Do Not Use First Data!! Candyce ** was the sales rep who lied about the professionalism of her and the company. We will keep posted any changes that come.
We leased an ATM through Webster Bank's merchant services division. That was 5 years ago - about 2 years ago we started having a lot of problems with the ATM and they said it was our connection, etc... and then suggested that we buy an ATM. Well, the issue with owning your own ATM when you are a small business is the maintenance, which is why we were paying for maintenance to First Data. Lo and behold, neither Webster Bank nor First Data having anything to do with ATM leasing anymore. Haven't for some years now. We were never notified. Now the lease is up and they want to charge me for an outdated machine that only works when it wants or I have to pay to ship it back. Still waiting for a copy of the lease from them. Not only are they sneaky crooks, their products stink and their customer service has never been good - do not do business with the company ever.
With all the bad reviews, I hope First Data goes out of business. I was tricked into the contract leasing just like all of the other people leaving reviews. After paying for 4 years of lease payments and not even using the equipment, I planned on returning equipment and being done with them. However, now they say pin was part of "package"; however, I never received pin pad and it's not on the contract. If I don't pay the entire "purchase equipment" price, they will continue the lease payments. I only received the terminal. The terminal is only thing listed on contract. Such a terrible, unethical organization. I would be ashamed to be a part of this company.
I too was suckered in with the bs sales pitch from a third party company (base solutions) which I found out after the fact when it fell apart. I was contacted about a 2 month "promotional deal" the slogan "let first data earn your business". It was supposed to be a no obligation, cancel at any time without penalty trial to see if FD was a "good fit for your business". With nothing to lose, I thought why not - by this time I had had numerous conversations with the same sales person, and had made it very clear that I absolutely did NOT want to be locked into a contract. To which he replied "that's not a problem, FD don't like to keep people in contracts that don't want to be", and kept reassuring me this was a trial... BS BS BS!!!
I had nothing but problems from the start - always calling tech support because of faulty equipment that had to be replaced after 3 weeks, their constant errors on our banking details - leading to $$$$ not being deposited into our account and being held in collections on their end for weeks, not getting the processing rate I was told... and the list goes on and on.
Needless to say, after 2 months FD did not earn my business, so when I call to cancel is when I find out the "no early termination fee" is just for the merchant services department, and I have been locked into a 60 month lease as that is a separate entity of the company! Of course none of this was disclosed by the slimy salesman, and absolutely everything out of his mouth was complete and utter lies. After LOTS of emails and hours on the phone - being passed between different departments of FD and base solutions, they finally agreed to buy out my contract, since the slime-ball salesman agreed to "give up his commission on the deal".
After reading so many reviews (I wish I had of done that before signing up) I realize I am one of the lucky ones to dissolve the binding contract without having to pay it out, and to be rid of FD and Base Solutions. Seriously, one of the worst experiences ever! Any business owner knows you don't need the added stress of bs like this! AVOID FIRST DATA AND BASE SOLUTIONS LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! *I really want to out the sales person so no one else falls for his lies, but I probably can't do that....
UPDATED ON 02/09/2017: In my dealings with First Data, none of them have been remotely positive. I submitted a review/complaint in October 2016 of my absolutely horrible experience with FD, but now I'm writing another one for a different reason; Since dissolving my contract (that I was unaware I even had!) with them last year, I have received numerous cold calls from their sales department. Normally I am able say I'm not interested and that's where the phone call ends. Today however was a different story - I had an extremely rude and pushy lady on the other end, who did not want to take NO for an answer, and who basically tried to use scare tactics!
I told her that I actually was a previous FD customer, and of my terrible experience, and that I had no interest in her "deal" now or ever. I told her that literally thousands of people had had the same problems according to all the negative reviews. To which she replied "well I should go on-line and write a bad review about your company right now" and tried to then berate me saying I was foolish for believing reviews. OMG!! Not that I needed any more reasons not to do business with this company, but that was the ultimate nail in the coffin! First off I was tricked into their bs contract, I managed to get out, and now I have their salespeople threatening to do more damage to my business through phony reviews! First Data you are the absolute WORST!
A little over 5 years ago we opened a new business, Wine Bar Restaurant in Mount Vernon, Ohio. After about one year we were approached by Merchant Services about switching to them and saving BIG money for our credit card transaction fees. They use First Data as the equipment provider, and quickly slipped a LEASE AGREEMENT past us without filling in the term of the lease. YES, they left it blank. We didn't realize at the time that the $216 per month we were being charged for the equipment would tally up to over $10,000 in 48 months. We were so busy running our business that we just didn't pay any attention to the automatic withdraws from our business accounts.
Well, after nearly 3 years past things settled down and I started to look very closely at expenses. We quickly discovered that we're paying WAY too much for credit card fees, and found another company and switched our service. Almost another year goes by and one day I'm looking at bank statements and noticed that we were still making payments directly to First Data for equipment we hadn't used in nearly a year.
I IMMEDIATELY contacted them and stopped payment, and was quickly told that we could NOT stop the lease for any reason. Not if we had closed our doors, passed away, switched to a better company, or just flat didn't have the money to pay it. The instant we signed the lease agreement we were locked in for $216 for 48 month, NON-NEGOTIABLE for any reason.
I told First Data that our original contract was blank where it showed the lease term. They didn't care. I also told them that the salesperson did NOT disclose the specifics of the lease term to us. First Data very quickly told us that they were NOT affiliated with Merchant Services, and that our lease was a completely separate transaction. Instead of coming to some sort of settlement with us, they had their attorney trash our credit and take us to collections. I even told him on several conversations that our contract was blank where the lease term was supposed to be filled in. He didn't care one bit. I also told him that the salesman did NOT disclose the specifics of the lease, nor did they offer to sell us the equipment instead for around $400 instead of locking us into a binding contract for over $10,000.
The real rip-off here is non-disclosure from the salesman who sold us the original service. They should be REQUIRED to tell the customer that you can purchase the equipment for about $199 to 249 for each business. In our case we had two businesses when we switched. For just two months of lease payments we could have went out and purchased the exact same equipment that they were charging us over $10,000 for!!
It's WAY too late for us, we already paid nearly $10,000 instead of about $400 to buy the equipment, and now our credit is trashed and we are in collections on the balance. I've got news for First Data. I have a check in my hand for the balance, and the only way you are going to get it is to pry it from my cold-dead fingertips! I hope business owners read this. Sorry for being so long winded. It is VERY IMPORTANT information. Stay as far away from First Data as you possibly can!
We bought into the whole Clover POS system thinking we can add things to our app and it would be user-friendly with a one touch system and to make our purchases for our business easy. Well, when we got into our system we realized there were not as many one touch buttons for our business and we called to get them added... well be prepared as there is a charge for every new button you want to add and then your monthly payment goes up as well. Ridiculous!!! Once you get fed up and decide to cancel they say, "Read the fine print and you now owe us thousands of dollars." WHAT!!!
It is a bait and switch company. They get you locked in telling you all this false info and then when you want to cancel you are stuck paying a huge bill!!! We use SQUARE and love it and wish we never would have heard the word CLOVER or FIRST DATA GLOBAL LEASING or SunTrust!!! Horrible, Horrible, Horrible experience and a huge expensive lesson learned!!! Don't fall for it!!! Please read this review before you purchase. I wish I had read reviews before I did.
We signed up through the Sam's Club processing program. From the beginning it was a nightmare. I only wanted a credit card machine and they sent me the large clover cash drawer etc. We I tried to call them, email them to take it back. I got nowhere. Our small business is a auto repair shop and does not need a POS machine. We were stuck! We paid way too much. Sam's Club should be ashamed of themselves being tied into a company that's in the business of ripping businesses off. I sent our equipment back and paid off the remainder of the lease and they still charged us for the next month. I am now on hold trying to get a refund. I will be contacting Sam's Club about this also. I wish a class action suit could be filed on behalf of all the businesses they have ripped off.
I'm beyond words at this point. Clover (First Data) is a SCAM!! Stay away! They charge you way more than they should for the equipment and then lock you into a long term contract. They give you great rates over the phone and then you get your first bill and it is double the percentages promised and you are at their mercy. In the beginning the sales rep will tell you all that they can to get you signed up (I am in sales and his promises were straight out lies - I have no respect for Ben **). Once you have been signed up under false promises good luck getting everything set up. You call over and over and you email and you get no answers anymore. The sales rep disappears.
Then you have to call for a new rep, and then that one doesn't call and then you want to get rid off the equipment because you see where this going but you are opening in a few days and have no choice, so you spend hours on the phone getting passed around like it's a game until you get it halfway set up. These people should be sued for the completely unethical sales tactics. I wonder how many others have been lied to about their FLAT RATES ACROSS THE BOARD (WRONG!). Oh business card are higher percentages and so are corporate cards, "oh and then we add this fee and that fee and no that wasn't the rate you were quoted. It's actually higher." Complete lies.
I am going to start a website to ban together a group of individuals that have been done wrong by this company and start a class action lawsuit. I hope to have it up in the next two weeks where people can register to become a part of it and we will all help find a class action lawyer that will take it on once we get enough numbers. I will lead the charge if no one else will. Email me if you would like to put your name on the ballet and tell your story on the website. My personal email is **. Once the website is created we will tell everyone's story and we will grow the list of victims so that it cannot be ignored! I am sorry for anyone that finds this review because that means you have been screwed too. Send me your story and I will post it and give updates as we move along in this process together.
The Clover POS System is not worth the headache when dealing with this company. The sales person over promise and under delivered. When trying to get the company to stand by their promise of a lower rate, you deal with rude and unknowledgeable support staff. And with the sales person no longer at the company, you are left with frustration and the feeling I got scammed.
First of all. This is a third party merchant service. You won't even know you're caught in their web, until it's too late. I had the misfortune of signing up with "out of town" fly by night credit card merchant that apparently included this bloodsucking company as their supplier of credit card machines and hardware. Same story... Outrageous fees from the new merchant and the deception you don't ever know about until it's too late.
The contract for the merchant services and the contract for the lease on the equipment are NOT the same one. Whether its 12, 24, or 36 months that you agree with the merchant. The contract that they "sneak" under your nose is the lease agreement for the credit card equipment, which turns out it's usually 48 months. Even after you return the equipment you better pray you have proof or tracking number to verify the return. BAD BAD BUSINESS ALL THE WAY AROUND. Anyone peddling FDGL services you will need to look into with a fine tooth comb. Your better option is to RUN.
DO NOT LEASE FROM THIS COMPANY. We have a contract with pivotal payments who signed us up with First Data to lease a machine. The contract was for 60 months starting Oct 18 2010. Our lease was up as of Oct 12 2015 or so. We never heard back from anybody saying the lease was over. They just kept taking out the monthly fee. So now we're told the machine is becoming obsolete and we need a new machine. We get no credit on the old machine which we're still using and paying for which works perfectly fine. The machine we use is Hypercom 4210.
They should be sending out a notice when a lease has expired as who can remember 5 years ago. I should have checked into it as I knew it had to be coming due soon. The machine lease is a SCAM so only lease from companies that will update your software of trade in the machine. I will no longer do business with either First Data or Pivotal Payments as they have no concept how to run a honest business.
I signed up with First Data because of referral from Bank of America employee Kimmy in 2013 and she told me at that time they are good company, so I signed up for 24 months. When 2-year contract ended I call them to cancel it but they hold me on the phone for 45 minutes. Finally, they pick up the phone and I told him, I am going to closing the account. The man start yelling at me very loud "YOU SIGN UP FOR 48 MONTH AND YOU CAN'T CLOSE UNTIL 2017!!" He was VERY rude. I told him that I never signed up for 48 month and I do not have signed paper for 48 months. I told him to send me the paperwork that I signed for 48 month, but until to today they never did. So I stop using the terminal since then and they told me to send the Merchant terminal to them so I did. Then they start sending me bills? I am not going to pay. I am not using their machine. Then they send my account to the collection company.
We left this company because they were charging too much per transaction, which is fine. The product wasn't for us. We returned the equipment. I call back to make sure they received the equipment which they tell me was received but then they tell me that I signed a lease in 2014 that goes until 2018 at $50/month for their services which I no longer use. If I signed the contract then I'm in the wrong. I never signed a contract with this company. The original contract that was signed in 2010 until 2014. Nothing was signed after 2014. They can't produce a copy of the lease agreement. I'm on the phone with Merchant Services. Our rep stated that he has been on hold so long that he had to come back on the phone with me because the allotted wait time per customer was up. It's now 20 min and counting. This is a breach of contract and we will be sending this down to our law office.
I had a salesman come to my office and show me all this data about how I will save so much, I can't afford not to use them. Here is where they get you. To use them, it's a year to two year contract. To lease the equipment is four years. After two years of horrible service, I have decided to terminate since my contract is up. However, I still have 16 months left on my equipment lease with no buyout option. I will now have this equipment in my closet for 16 months paying $28 a month. Poor service and overcharging has nothing to do with the lease they tell me. My advice to you, use a straight forward paying system with no contract. In the end, you will thank me.
We left First Data for the following reasons: They have predatory fee practices and require constant surveillance. Usually fee hikes begin quietly and grow. We have had to intervene many times when overall fees approach something like 20% of total charges. They also have a company they own drum in the idea we have to go through a costly security clearance every year. If we don't comply, they raise our fees again. Calls to customer service are so bad they are surreal. Many of the representatives have difficulty understanding English. The fall back is to apologize or switch the caller to another department. What ought to be a simple transaction becomes an hour of frustration. This has happened with virtually everyone in my business that has handled merchant processing. Using their products such as website credit card processing is so cumbersome that it is a hair pulling experience.
I have told my marketing representative we are pulling the business five or six times in the last twenty years. Each time we have a respite from the fee challenges for about six month. I am tired of working with a company that requires constant oversight. Today, we converted to Square. I have a colleague that has worked with them for a year without one service challenge. Their fees were significantly lower and we were able to sign up in about ten minutes. First Data - it was a long run but we're divorcing because you keep taking advantage of us.
I signed with First Data because they told me the rates would be cheaper, I would receive free processing paper. It was all a lie. I was charge outrageous rates. I had to purchase the processing paper at $65 a case. For a small family business, we were lied to by this company. I tried to call over the last 6 months to talk to supervisors. I was given the runaround and false supervisor's names and call back numbers. Then to come to find out I am locked into an agreement for 48 months for the credit card processor. They have called and harassed me over numerous occasions, cussed at my employees. For those that run a business scamming people is for a living should be pay for the crime they commit.
Leasing. I used Wells Fargo Bank for my business and was "sold" the merchant account and leased equipment through Angelo, the merchant account representative. At no time did he, or anyone, ever advise me that the contract I was agreeing to was a "noncancellable" 48-month contract. When I asked Angelo what the $40.00 being taken out of my account was for, he flat out lied to me. He said, "It is for the insurance on the equipment. Just call FDGL and tell them you don't want the insurance." Angelo, Wells Fargo are liars and shysters, and First Data Global Leasing is run a scam. Stay far away for any bank or financial institution that uses FDGL. They will SCREW you over.
I have a similar complaint as (Tommy of Granite Shoals, TX on April 6, 2016) regarding First Data Global Leasing. I too used Bank of America for my business and was "sold" the merchant account and leased equipment through the B of A representative. At no time did anyone ever advise me that the contract I was agreeing to was a "non-cancellable" 48-month contract. After 25 months of business and using this equipment (at a rate higher than quoted) I have to unfortunately dissolve the business and contacted B of A and First Data regarding cancelling my merchant account and returning the leased equipment. That is when I discovered the "48-month" contract.
I called First Data and explained my situation and they were adamant about the non-cancellation contract. I said "yes I unfortunately am now aware of the terms" but asked if since I was closing the business (and not just going with another Merchant system) if they would be willing to work with me on the remaining balance (ransom). They said they may be willing to negotiate a "settlement" however it would still affect my credit with a negative remark for the "unpaid balance". This corporation is very deceptive in its relationship with the consumer as evidenced by all of the negative reviews I'm finding on your site as well as other websites! (Not to mention that Bank of America must be receiving a hefty kickback from them to lure their account holders to the hangman's noose!) Any guidance in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
There are several parts to this Ignite Payments, Authorize.net, and First Data. I cancelled all three in May 2016 and in June I found out that all three parts did not cancel and I had to re-cancel everything all over. I was then told that the only way to reverse the overpriced merchant fees was to dispute the fees for June. Now I am being sent to collections for a minimal amount. It's the principle of the matter that I am upset about and the deceiving practices that take place when you try and cancel. I only processed around 6 credit card transactions per year. Ignite needs to waive their fee for June since we have not had service since May 11th 2016.
I signed and contract/lease agreement for a Clover Mini device. The lease is 37.00 a month for 36 months. My sales rep assured me this product would be a great fit for my accounting and bookkeeping firm. When I received the Clover Mini it always displays a error indicating the WIFI is not secure enough. I called Clover technical support and they said this product cannot work with your office wifi. It must be on a secured network. The internet in the 8 offices that I lease is available to other Regus leasers within the office.
I contacted my sales rep Daniel ** and he said we can cancel the service but you still have to pay the lease. The wifi requirements are nowhere outlined in the contact and Clover refuses to take back the Clover Mini. They said I can pay 1300.00 to pay off the lease and they can give me another Clover product that will work. They made up some bs excuse that the machine cannot be returned because it can only work for my business. Yet the machine doesn't work at all. CLOVER AND FIRST DATA LEASING ARE A SCAM!
Total dissatisfaction! My lease expired on 2/4/16 The equipment was returned to First data before the end of my lease & my lease was cancelled. I emailed & snail mailed them the tracking # but they continued to debit my account for another two months. I made several calls to First Data giving them the tracking # again with no success. I finally issued a stop payment with my bank $35.00 to stop them. Then 2 months later I get a collection notice from them!!! June 16th 2016 I finally was able to get them to acknowledge that they did in fact receive the unit! Do yourself a favor look elsewhere to lease equipment.
This statement is regarding FIRST DATA MERCHANT SVS. I agreed to a lease contract for a Point of Sale system for my business. Needed one to help grow my business by providing more sales information and other business functions. Had problems from the beginning with installation and not to mention the computer program was outdated and the customer support was poor. I leased for over a year and it sat in front and used less than a month. I asked for more help, and of course received none.
January 2015 I decided to stop all payment because this leased computer offered zero benefit to my business and First Data offered zero help. A few months later, First Data called me to try and settle this. I received more calls then versus while I was a paying client asking for assistance. We did not resolve the matter, but they threatened to mess up my credit and go to court. They sent my account to collections when eventually I agreed to a charge off settlement in hopes of ending this bad decision.
If you decide to sign a contract with First Data, please do your research and think twice. You will be told promises that sound terrific but unfortunately the result will disappoint you and will leave you with a terrible experience you will regret, unless of course you want to conduct business with a company that cares nothing about you and your business, just the steady flow of money coming out of your bank account.
I set up a new venture in 2013 & chose Bank of America Merchant Services to process our CC. A sales rep came to visit July 22, 2013 and sold us on a better rate if we went w/ a terminal that was $29.99 per month. We were not told anything about a lease that was locked in for any specific amount of time, nor were we informed that we could not return the equipment without continuing to pay a monthly lease charge and it just seemed like First Data was the brand of machine B of A had provided as it was presented to us. The salesman never presented it to us as anything we had to keep for any length of time, just that there was no upfront cost and was $29.95 per month & if we went with it we'd get a better processing rate, so we said ok and he said sign here & here & left.
Within 60 days before the business ever got going we decided to dissolve the new business and put it on hold for a few years and since we had already received the piece of equipment in the mail we called & offered to pay the shipping to return it but were told that it wouldn't matter and that we would still have to pay for 2 years so we might as well keep it (not address or other options provided). We could not find the contract or receipt that said we had to pay even if we returned the equipment but we decided to keep this closed businesses bank account open that they were pulling payment from & did so for two years even though there was no business and they never processed any sales, we just put the $29.99 plus tax in the account each month so they could deduct it.
At the end of the two years we called to cancel the account making our last payment in Aug 2015 and instead of telling us where to send the reader, we were told very rudely by a woman that it was 3 years not 2 and we told her we were originally told 2 years at the same customer service number and that we refused to pay any longer for a lease we had never used, so please close the account. A few months later we were contacted by a collection specialist that said we now owed over $700 and were at that time told the agreement was 4 years & were provided a letter that stated a 48 month lease that was dated 7/22/13 but did not have a signature on it. We in good faith had actually kept a bank account open and paid these people for two years for something we did not need that was misrepresented to us to begin with and they have lied to us twice by phone at the only contact number we were provided.
This is the only negative on my credit report & it actually cost my wife a lot of money over two years just because we thought we must not have read the fine print & rather than argue with them she paid, but now after being lied to & charged for two years without ever missing a payment I do not feel like this account should be allowed to damage my credit and we feel victimized by this creditor who had no regard for being upfront or honest with its customers and after looking them up online we've found hundreds of similar complaints against them.
Two years of making on time payments as instructed after being coerced into signing up for something that was misrepresented in a way that I do not think would hold up as legal in a court of law, should be a plus not a negative reflection on my willingness to pay on-time. They should be required to notify customers when signing them up to multiple year contracts for a lease contract even if the customer does not have or use said equipment, as I'm sure this is not legal and most would not sign it if they were transparent. attempting to close the account, fulfilled the absurd request to pay out two years & as my report will show I always paid on time for those two years even though their equipment or service was never used.
On September 25th, 2015, called the number to terminate the account one month in advance. The representative inform me that I should call back closer to my renewal date (October 26th, 2015) to cancel. I called back on October 13th, 2015 to cancel the account. A representative inform me that I need to call back in few more days. Called back on October 19th, 2015 to terminate the contract, I was informed that someone will call me to initiate the termination. On December 4th, 2015, a $149.85 was charged on our business account. Called the company back on December 28th to ask for the charges and was notice the account was not canceled. So after complaining they told me that someone would call us back to cancel the account.
On January 5th, 2016 still no one called us back. Finally I called back on Monday January 11th, 2016 and asked why my account has not been canceled and no one contacted us, they told me they would submit my request and someone would call me back. I told them, "either you cancel my account now, or I will complain to Department of Consumer Affairs," so they cancelled my account on spot. I told them I need to speak to someone to complain about their service, and ask for credit for the extra charges ($29.95 on 11/04/2015, $149.85 on 12/04/2015 and $49.90 on 1/05/16). So far we are in April and no one called. I will report them to Federal Trade Commission and Department of Consumer Affairs. I recommend everyone to do so as well as writing reviews about them on the sites. Someone needs to take them to the court and file a public lawsuit against them.
We, like many, many others on here, have been taken by this company. They have fraudulently taken $48.31 from our account for EIGHT YEARS!!! Four of those were under "contract" where we had to lease their machine, the other FOUR years were charged in ERROR, and I can't get our money back, and they keep deducting our checking account. Each time I try contacting them, they act like they don't know what I'm talking about, don't have my address on file, don't have our phone number in their system, don't have our merchant ID in their system, don't have our banking information in their system, ETC., ETC., ETC.!!!
These people are a bunch of crooks! They gave me another number to call and that girl just hung up on me. This is absolutely infuriating. How can our government keep these people in business??? With all of the complaints on this site alone, these people need to be put UNDER the jail! They are trained in how to be scam artists. It's really sad that America has come down to this filth. We are a small business and every penny counts. We can't afford stop payment fees each month and then they somehow get around it anyway! They LIED to me on the phone and said that I had a confirmation number for the cancellation, and yet we had our checking account debited AGAIN! This is just ridiculous!
Merchant Services and First Data Global Leasing are scam companies riding on the back of Bank of America. Both companies will take money from your account without your permission. They claim to send a letter in which you can opt out. It's all in fine print and you have no knowledge of what they are doing for months later. Then they say it's in your contract that they can withdraw money if you don't respond. Customer service is horrible with long wait times. They will not allow you to speak to a manager. Refuse to refund your money.
First Data Global Leasing has scammed us with a fine print deal and lying representatives. When my contract is up I will have paid almost $6000 for a $200 piece of equipment. And then I will be given the opportunity to purchase the machine. These are criminals.
I have been closed since November of 2015. I called First Data in November and told them that I will be shut down. I will leave my bank account open for any remaining balances that I owe periods. The woman that I spoke to said that I will have my last and final charge taken out on December 5th 2015. Since then I've been getting letters saying that I owe money. They turn me in to the credit bureau, took a hit on my personal credit.
I called the company what I thought resolved the conflict in the misunderstanding that I got told that my last deal will be in December 5th 2015. Now getting charged for leasing a terminal that they said that I paid for and still charging me Interest for a business that has been closed for four months. How do companies like this rape small business owners and expect them to thrive in this corporate world. It's bad enough that small businesses don't get breaks because we're not a massive Enterprise.
I have been on the phone with them for 1 1/2 hours, I am told that I cannot speak to a manager right now. There is no manager on duty. Now they submitted a statement from me to a manager to get back to me. It will take 24 to 48 hours business hours. Free business that has been closed as long as mine infra companies like this to go after small businesses or any business and that matter is absurd. I know a lot of small business people that works 7 days a week and they're married to their business just to try to get by and it's companies like this that hurt us the most. Companies like this should be shut though they should have guidelines just like us. Penalties fees and fines that don't make any sense after you call the company and tell them that you were closed should not apply anymore. No one wants to close down their business but if they have to they don't want to still have to pay stuff months upon months after.
I signed up with First Data via Ignite Payments. It went smoothly initially, and I was happy till I started integrated Payeezy. When I found out there was going to be some work to get it up and running - as Payeezy supports limited number of languages. The Payeezy support team’s response was less than adequate (that’s when they responded at all). I decided to cancel my First Data account. The agreed cancellation fee was $20 - but the threatening letters from their collection department started showing up merely 4 days after I cancelled the account. The cancellation fee now is in the hundreds of dollars (we never processed a thing with them). And if I don’t pay, this will impact “my personal credit score”. What did I really get into? And who are these people?
The collection department is impossible to reach. I spent my Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday just trying to talk to someone (pfff the time wasted on that). And when I got through to someone at First Data - the person at the other end said - I “should be charged only $20” but someone has put in a different amount in the “comments section”. And she would call me back in 24 hours. She never did. Three days later, I called back, and a different person managed to reach the collection department on my behalf. The collection department agreed to settle for the original cancellation fee $20. They never apologized or explained the fees. Based on their transactions, I have seen on my bank account - I’m now cancelling my bank account to get rid of them.
Since I upgraded my Clover Station with the Clover Mini EMV it has been nothing but a disaster since day one. I have been on the phone with Tier II and Tier III tech support and they can't seem to fix the problem. I'm in over $4,000 and the system does not work well. I own a fast food Mediterranean restaurant in San Diego, CA and I have two Clover POS stations and the errors I'm encountering include double charges, chargebacks, communication errors between the Clover Station and Clover Mini, Apple pay problems, the list goes on and on.
If anyone reading this is considering purchasing a Clover POS for their business, I urge you to reconsider. This system has too many bugs and too many glitches making it extremely frustrating to operate. Clover's tech support is merely a middleman point of contact. They provide very little service and substance for guidance on the problem. When they don't know the answer, which is often, they elevate the complaint to TIER III and you sit and wait for TIER III to get back to TIER II with an answer, but you never are allowed to talk to TIER III. It's a hopeless and extremely frustrating relationship and what makes it worse is that at the end of each call to tech support they say, "Thank you for being a Clover customer." I HATE BEING A CLOVER CUSTOMER!!! Their system is PATHETIC just as their customer service. We should band together and sue First Data for selling defective equipment.
This is way too similar to the vast majority of complaints. I own a small business like others. A sales guy shows up, signs you up then vanishes. Forget about any type of customer service. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! Buyer beware! I closed the business down 3 years ago, returned the credit card machine as instructed, paid the lease off, showed proof of return. The company then claims they didn't receive the machine 3 years later. They continue to bill me... Today I instructed First Data "I'm done. Take me to court. Stop harassing me!!!" Amazing that no one has drop a class action against them. If anyone does I'll join.
I have had the clover POS for my small business since about May 2015. I have alerted the company of many issues I have experienced, including, but not limited to: double charges, unfunded charges, disappearing transactions, and freezing. It has taken over 50 phone calls, averaging over an hour each to finally, as of today have a replacement sent. I also received, out of the blue, a scanner. I never requested a scanner and when I called to inquire as to why I received a scanner, no one can find a purpose, yet I will be charged for the scanner. While it is First Data, it is associated with Bank of America. It is difficult to separate the two. I simply need the system to work, it is very costly and has cost me plenty as well. I am wondering if others have had similar issues. They make me feel as if I am very unique. I have a hard time believing that no one else is experiencing incredible difficulties.
I called Wells Fargo to inquire about credit card processing, and was sold a merchant contract with all the details explained to me by the WF agent. Little did I know that I was signing on to a FOUR year lease $33/month for a terminal machine that costs around $200!! What a huge rip-off. They are the biggest scam EVER. Do not sign on in any way, under any circumstances, with First Data or any bank that uses them.
I took over a lease and signed a contract with FDGL/Merchant Services upon buying a business three years ago. The "sales" representative was quick to sign me up on his iPad, barely explaining the business contract, and had me sign without ever completely reading ALL the fine print. That was my own fault. He didn't recognize that we had an ongoing lease on a CC machine. It took 8 months or more of phone calls, emails, and meetings to restore the previous owner's credit and clear her name from creditors. I paid every month on the CC machine all along. I asked for a hard copy of my contract for months and finally receive one six months into the exchange.
After a few months I realized all the extra fees attached to each month's statement, fees totaling a hefty 6-9% of sales, depending on the month. I inquired about early termination and discovered a nearly $1500 cost associated with canceling the lease and contract. I had two and a half years left. So I stuck it out. I called a few times to see if they would lower my costs, it never happened. I continually paid up to 10% per month for their services. My contract ended January 4th. I called and terminated it January 5th. On February 3rd I received the regular statement, they had charged me for January twice, including fees for minimum costs, Non Receipt of PCI validation, Transarmor Solution, Business Advantage Package fees, all totaling over $125. I called. I was told that the account was still active, that it had not been canceled back in January. I would get a call from a service specialist within 24 hours. No call.
I called back after 48 hours, was told I would get a call again or correspondence within 48 hours. Nothing. I called again on the 12th. Incensed. I asked for reversal of January fees but was told that they were the last month's fees as stated in the contract. Mind you, I paid double fees in January. I talked with 3 different people, was told I would get a call or letter within 48 business hours. Apparently they had an incorrect email address even though I had been receiving statements and prior emails at the same address for 3 years. No correspondence whatsoever.
I called today, after two people I was told I would get an email letter within 1/2 hour stating that my business account was terminated February 3 (not January 5th), and that there would be no further fees charged after February 3rd. I got the letter an hour later. I believe that FDGL should be investigated for fraud and extortion. Their business practices are suspect at best. They have proprietors sign up without access to hard copy contracts, they promise low rates and good service, and they charge exorbitant rates for processing and make it financially impossible to cancel contracts. My bank, who recommended them in the first place, has stopped doing business with them. Please be aware of these crooks and use a service that is recommended by someone who uses the services. In 35 years of sole proprietor business I have never dealt with such incompetence and service.
I am an independent business owner just starting out my business. I work with many people over the internet & in person and thought that Clover would be another great asset to my business. I thought wrong. When I first signed up, everything was fine. I set up my account and used the clover mobile for in-person transactions. But my account was cancelled because of a denied payment because of the payee account terms.
I called Clover and began the run around with me being unable to access funds which I've made. I was switch over to many different departments and not told as to why my account was closed. Then finally they gave me the number to security to which they said "my account will be resolved thru them". It was not, again I was transferred to many different departments and then told that I would receive an email to help me resolve the issue. I've yet to get that email. Clover & First Data sucks at customer service. I don't care what no one says. They will cripple your business.
We signed with Sam's Club credit processing using First Data/Global Leasing in September of 2013. All through the courting process our sales rep from Sam's Club called me constantly and returned all of my calls very promptly. He specifically stated to me that if we were EVER unhappy with processing with First Data we could cancel at any time. After 2 1/2 years we finally called it quits. After having episodes with First Data and never being able to contact our rep anymore we were disgusted.
The chip card compliance finally was the last straw. We were contacted by First Data and told to upgrade our machines. It would be almost $500 apiece for the 2 machines we use. There was no other option and no discount. We contacted another rep for another company and he offered cheaper rates and free chip compliant machines. We accepted the offer and signed up. We then attempted to contact First Data and were able to cancel our processing service, but were told we would have to contact Global Leasing for the machine end of it.
After 25-30 calls with wait times up to an hour I finally talked to them. They told me I had a NON-CANCELLABLE ease and could not terminate it. The buyout was $975 for 2 machines that we had paid $50 a month on for 2 1/2 years. So after paying $1500 already it would cost us another $975 for the machines. This is for machines that our new company told us we could purchase for around $200 apiece. What kind of a scam is this!! We want out of this contract. We were told we could cancel at any time. These people are now telling us that was only for the processing not the machines. We had a document dump from First Data when we signed on of 30-40 pages or more they wanted docusigned. REALLY!! We want out of this lease. This is a scam. Who do we contact??
My name is Emilia ** and I own a little shop called ** in Miami. I had a lease with this company. A representative came to my shop and gave me the machine. Never told me I signed a contract for 4 years, never told me about extra fees, never told me I had to pay a ridiculous amount of money if I didn't want to use the services again. They started to charge me excessive fees that I never understood. When I called to say I didn't want to use their services again they told me I couldn't get out of the contract I signed. I don't remember signing a contract, told them to send me the contract and they never did. I tried for months to get to an agreement with no luck and I decided I will return the machine.
I did and they kept charging me every month, so, I had to close the bank account. Then I decided I was gonna pay the fee to just get rid of these guys and I spoke to some representative on the phone and ask her I want to close the contract and I was willing to pay the fee. She said I had to give her a bank account because I couldn't pay with a check, I did, and instead, they never close the account and kept charging me the monthly fees, so, I had to close that account too. Now they call me every day saying I owe them money and I have to return the machine, which I did, months ago. They say that I will have to pay for attorneys and they will take me to court and damage my credit. They are a bunch of thieves and that company is a complete scam. I would appreciate any kind of help you can provide me and if you're going to take legal action against them, count on me. Thank you so much.
I could write my story as well but it would be three pages long so I have chose to just agree with all the other poor business owners that has been taken advantage of from First Data Global Leasing as their story is similar to mine other than I'm probably paying the most per month than anyone $175.00. Expect payment solutions out of Vancouver Washington had my manager sign the agreement. They are as dishonest as the rest of the processing world. I'm with everyone else wondering how this company is still in business. Are they too big to fail? I will be writing to our attorney general and ask for help with this matter and hope someone will listen to our request for help.
3 1/2 months working with Merchant Lynx using First Data Terminal has put a hole into my personal and business bank accounts! Illegally taking money, using several different names! Please join me and contact Chimicles & Tikellis LLP to bring a class action suit to Gateway Fees by First Data!!! We all need to do this to bring justice back to us and lock down this company for GOOD!! I will like my good credit back!
We have not been receiving our credit card transactions from merchant services/Clover POS. We have had three separate instances where we have had to spend an entire day on the phone with First Data to get our money. The dates of them withholding money are the 13th-17th, 18th-20th and 23rd-26th. We also have accounting discrepancies between our credit card sales and what is being deposited into our account. First Data is unlawfully holding our money and it is an enormous problem for our business.
We were promised a certain fee per transaction. We did not sign any contract. We were scammed on the phone. Now they want 4,200.00 dollars to cancel the contract!! When you see these names run the other way. Direct Processing, First Data, Prestige, Blue Square Solutions.
Warning! Do not sign with this company to lease their credit card machine. The salesman was on a fast track to get me to sign up with this company. The machine was at my shop within two days, and after thinking it through had changed my mind because the cost was far greater than what the machine was worth. After several days of trying to get in touch with them, they told me I had signed the contract and it was a four year contract that could not be broken. I have ten more months to go, but still cannot get out of this until it is fully paid and still have to send the machine back. Why is this company still in business? There should be a law against overcharging to the extent that this company does. Read and reread before you sign anything.
well, guess in my case they really did their work
Do not use this company!!! I can't believe they are still in business! They put my account on hold without letting me know. While being unaware of it I kept on processing transactions (around 18k), and when I knew it, it was all on hold because of 3 charge-backs out of 100! After long two weeks of me chasing him. I really mean word chasing because they do not answer any phone calls or email. They first offered in the morning to keep my account active but with a reserve of 35% from each sale until it reaches $53,000 in a year period time so they could make sure I'm not a high risk client, and after few hrs they said my account is closed and they will be holding my money for 3 month if no other charge-backs come across. Of course it will! Because I lost business because of First Data!!! Never, never, never use this company!
Our small business wanted to get a jump on EMV chip processing, so at the end of our previous contract with Chase Paymentech (which we never had issues with), we opted to use CardConnect for slightly lower rates. This was the summer of 2015. We were assured that by October our terminal would be able to utilize chip processing without issue. In the meantime, we discovered that CardConnect had assigned a large number of junk fees (including a Merchant Club program that is laughable). Most of these fees could be addressed, but one major issue was the First Data terminal lease. We had been told that the terminal would have a lease built into our contract, and we would be subject to a penalty fee for not completing the lease to the value of the device. Apparently, the lease amount is $50 per month (plus fees) for a duration of 48 MONTHS!
This was sold to us by our agent as a fee that would disappear over time, not one that would follow our business to the amount of $2,400 (plus fees, of course). This unit (the Ingenico iCT220) can be purchased through numerous online dealers for under $200. Yet, this contract is non-cancelable, lest we desire to deal with negative business credit and collections. In addition, the binding contract with First Data was sent to us after our CardConnect contract was submitted, but it was forwarded as a form entitled "Exhibit D: Delivery and Acknowledgement Form" - which is what our agent said is simply a form to do just that...initial and sign that we received a working terminal. Other than extreme fine print at the bottom of the form (reading as FDGL), First Data's name is nowhere to be found.
Our business was duped into a contract with an outside terminal provider that is FAR from reasonable, and as of today (January 7, 2016) we are still without EMV chip processing through First Data. The good news is that we have constant service dropouts and system lock ups. Oh, wait, that's a bad thing for a business to experience. Attempt to contact First Data about the service issues or contract issues and you'll be spun through call assistance until you're finally disconnected. BEWARE First Data at all costs.
They don't apply the promise rates, charges are unbelievable. Don't work with this company. There is Swipely and many more honest company.
I owned a small cafe in Sacramento. I leased a credit card processing machine through Global. The machine never worked properly so I got a new one from them. That one never worked properly either so I realized it was their processing issue. I lost a LOT of money and customers from not being able to process cards! I sent back the equipment and went with a completely different company which never had problems. But I cont. to pay on my lease for another year even though I didn't have their equip anymore, then closed that checking acct when I sold my cafe.
FIRST DATA filed a collection against me for the remainder of the lease! When I called to file a complaint, they didn't want to hear anything about their faulty processing even though they acknowledged receipt of the equipment over a year ago 14, stating "I signed a lease" over and over again. They have ruined my credit.
I am sure I am one of Hundreds of people that have been duped by this company. Fine print on a long contract will kill you. Even if you close your business you will pay for years for a machine you send back. I pay 79.00 dollars a month for a machine I sent back. They will not let me pay off with any discount to resolve the issue. In fact they charge me an extra 7.49 a month because I closed the bank account so they couldn't take what they want out of it. I pay extra payment so I won't get late notices and they always say I'm late and get an additional late charge. They make me so angry I feel like I could explode. My next step is to pursue some kind of consumer protection or lawsuit. I feel sorry for their employees. I hope they are forced to close soon. This is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with. Please Beware!
FDGL leased me a credit card machine for my small business. When the machine broke, they told me I would have to pay them monthly rent for several more years - even though they are unable to offer me a replacement! I will see them in court - save yourself the hassle!
Please beware if you do business with #First Data. I really feel sorry for people who work for #First Data. If try to classify and fit a company into evil bucket, #First Data will fit it perfectly. I am a small business owner and started a computer store couple of years ago. For payment solution I contacted First Data. Their sales rep was all about helping small businesses grow. I clearly explained the rep that I am trying a new business, so I don't want any contracts or lease. The rep explained that they help small businesses all the time, and even if we decide to close the store there won't be any penalties.
After two years of running the store, we decide to close down, as market had changed and there was less demand for the services we were offering. We returned the credit card machine. The credit machine was small one and not worth more than $75. When I called First Data, they said I have to pay them $660 and another $100 to close the account. After doing business with them for almost two years and paying them high credit card fees and charges, the company wants me to pay them $750 to close the account. They aren’t willing to listen to anything.
Their one liner is: “If you don’t pay us $750, we will report it to credit agency”. When I told them about the promise of their sales agent made, they replied that the agent may have lied to us. So you guys, First Data, lie to get the business, and then hold the personal credit hostage to extract more money. As a small business should I now be spending time on phones explaining myself and looking for legal remedies, or pay the ransom and continue put more efforts in growing my small business? Merry Christmas to you all...!! This is the Christmas gift I got from First Data. Hope good sense prevails and they treat small business as not someone they can take hostage for a ransom.
This company has the worst customer service EVER. They are rude and unhelpful whether you are a new customer, a long time customer or a past customer. I never spoke to anyone that was pleasant at this company. From the very beginning the sales rep was dishonest. He set the account up wrong which ended up costing us over $500 in lease fees when we closed the account. He told us we could contact him for help but every time we tried to contact him he was unavailable and would not return our calls. When we finally got in touch with him he told us we had to call customer service... Basically he dumped us after he got the commission on the sign up.
After several years we closed our business and I called to cancel the service... The person I spoke with told me I would have to pay penalty fees (since the lease was a year longer than I thought), so I mailed a check and returned the equipment. The rep told me the account was closed. And then a month later they hit my checking account with a bunch of fees. So I called and they said I had not closed the account, that I had closed the lease but that I would need to speak with a different department to close the account... So I asked why no one told me there were 2 different departments that I needed to speak with when I called to close the account and I was told that I should have known that I had to close the account with 2 different departments... I would not recommend this company to anyone who values honesty and good customer service.
I signed up with Bank of America for their merchant service when I first started my business. I was told it's a 5 years lease by the Bank of America salesman. NEVER was mentioned an outside leasing company. 3 years go by I decided to switch merchant service. I was told the lease is not over yet, the payoff was ridiculous, so I just finished the lease, last month I noticed after 5 years I'm still getting charged every month, I called them up, they said the lease was over last year.
So I asked them, "why didn't I get a courtesy call or letter to return or buy the equipment." They said they don't do that. Every reputable leasing company does that! All I'm asking for is for them to return the $ that I have been charged for past the 4 year contract. NOPE. So they find it perfectly fine to charge me $595 for nothing. Noting if I want to cancel the contract I have to send them the equipment back ON MY COST.
To make it even better, I called BANK OF AMERICA and their merchant department told me "You're not a customer of ours." I'm like excuse me I still have my business checking account, business credit card, my mortgage. And when I asked this girl nicely "Can you please ask your supervisor" she keeps refusing. I asked her 3 times and her ignorant ass kept on saying "YOU'RE NOT EVEN A CUSTOMER." Hey BOA that's great customer service. Besides getting screwed by First Data, BOA is telling me to take a hike. MEANWHILE on the credit card terminal it has BOA stickers on it. Shame on you BOA to be working with scam artists like First Data. Shame on you for letting a good customer hanging.
Beware of First Data and all of their hidden contract fees. This is by far the worst customer service and merchant service I have ever dealt with. Do not sign up with this company who I found through my previous bank First American Bank. They will sign you up for long contracts that you are not aware of and that you cannot get out of. Even at the end of the contracts they will keep taking money from you account even after you have cancelled. Beware of this scam of a company!!
Long story short... I am on the hook for $6,300 for a computer that has a retail value of $300. I was contacted by a BofA rep that visited my retail store. Told me about all the $ we could save with BofA merchant account and how wonderful Clover POS system is. Was told we could cancel anytime blah, blah, blah. Well the rep no longer works for BofA. Our business failed. We now owe First Data Leasing $6,300 for a computer that you can buy anywhere for $300. Contract can NOT be canceled. Print is so small on contract you can't even read it.
Updated on 03/22/2016: Total Rip Off - Meeting with State's Attorney. This is essentially what is happening: The banks are in bed with FDGL and are hiring anyone off the street as "sales reps". The sales reps are signing up as many suckers as possible and getting a huge up front commission, then disappearing into the night. First Data Leasing is nothing more than a big collection agency. If you default, they sell the bad debt.
I've spoken to my state's AG's office in detail about this and have printed out thousands of complaints from this and other consumer websites. I'm flying to Carson City to meet with a DAG and we will be discussing possible action against this rip off company. And BofA is not going to come out squeaky clean either. The Clover system is excellent, but just make sure to buy it outright and NOT sign any type of lease.
I have been using Clover for the last 12 months and the list of problems are endless and ongoing. From inflexibility to limited ability to issues taking forever to get resolved etc etc. I am based in UK and Clover seemed to be making quite a splash when I came across them but the thing with them is everything on the outlook is nice and fancy but in fact it has no substance and every time I wanted to change something or if the app was not working properly I had to wait for them to contact the engineers in US and it took as long as the Great Wall of China to get back to me only for them to tell me the engineers are 'working on it'. Ha ha ha what a bloody surprise! To cut the long story short I've basically wasted a year of my life and money on a completely useless POS that even my grandma can do a better job.
I take responsibility for not reading through the contract properly but had I been promised by the salesperson that I can break the agreement anytime during the 36 months lease but only to find out afterwards when I got so fed up with the machine that I had to pay the remainder of the agreement if I terminated early! This was the last straw and I will strongly advise against using this company unless you want to end up with no more hair.
We had a restaurant about 6 years ago. We rented a terminal from them. When we sold the restaurant we told them we don't need the terminal anymore. They told us we cannot stop paying for the terminal. Even if we return it we need to pay full amount until the lease end. But when does the lease end or how much we owe they did not tell us. SO we said "please put everything in writing. We will make payment plan and clear it all out." We never heard from them. It was about 6 years back. We sold the restaurant, closed the Bank of America bank account FOR THE BUSINESS (thats where the lease money came out).
Last week so Nov 2015, we get 2 charges from Bank of America Financial Adjustment for 324.27 so in total $648.54. We contact the bank and ask what this is and to dispute it. They tell me that they cant because Bank of America cannot dispute charges from their own bank or their partners. When we tell them that the company's account had nothing to do with personal account and that the partner should not even have access to it, they tell us there is nothing they can do. Also that other half of the 648.54 came out of personal savings with my wife who was not on the lease or had nothing to do with the restaurant they did not care about.
SO Bank of America is not helping us out in any way, shape or form but direct us to call First Data Global Leasing to try to get the money back. I call the number given to me, I get a voice mail that states the calls are answered in 48 hours. It has been about 300 hours now and 5 voice mails later, and we have not heard anything from anyone. We still have no clue how they can reach into our personal account whenever they feel like it, for what or how much we owe, what did we pay for, or how is this whole thing even legal??? We probably will never see this money again! So we did only thing we could think of, just close all the accounts with Bank of America and bank somewhere else. Reading other comments where people pay in thousands, I guess we got off light.
I'm surprised this system is still being sold. It is a piece of garbage. It just looks good. It's unreliable and error prone, with non-existent or useless reporting. Customer service is also a joke. They never know what they are talking about, follow up or get anything resolved. The only good thing about my experience with Clover was getting most of my money back. It was a total waste of my time and the money I spent. No need for ConsumerAffairs to take any action. I just want others considering the system to beware. I didn't know where else to leave a review.
I signed a contract through their partner Sam's Club for a lease of 36 months with early termination waived and I found out later that it was a 48-month contract and the early termination fee was not waived. I got my terminal and it was never programmed or set-up for use. I have called every day since I got the terminal and I have been transferred all over the place, given fake numbers to call and I finally got to talk to someone and cancelled my merchant account to find out that I was still billed for the termination fee when it was waived. I even have the case number for the waived fee. This company takes whatever amount they want from my business account and will not bother to talk to be but would rather hand up on me. They even have the nerve to falsify a person's contract and change what you have signed without sending a return label so you can return their product.
I just checked my credit report to see that First Data had committed fraud when it come to me. On my credit report it shows that I created my merchant account in 1969 when that is not possible since I was only 14 years old in 1969 and I was still living in South Korea. This company needs to be taken care of quickly. How can a company like this do this to people especially new business owners? This company doesn't think about online communications being saved by their merchants. I save that stuff in case I need to use it and any other communications with others from the company or their partner company.
I AM STARTING A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. I called them and they want $2,000 to pay off a lease for a machine that only costs $50. We were all told by their affiliate that there would not be any lease or cost for the equipment multiple times and they think oral agreements are not the same as written contracts, but the numbers don't lie. Sign my petition: **.
My old business partner was duped into doing business with them. We were promised 1% transaction fees on all cards, easy cancellation. TURNS OUT IT WAS A LIE. Oh yeah the monthly fee - too much. It's a 4 year contract that I have tried to cancel several times - no luck. Getting out of the contract is a bunch of legal gymnastics - but doable. If you stay with them over the course of your contract you will lose over four grand in fees not including the transaction fees THAT ARE NOT 1% across boards. If you are a startup (like I am) you will find better options for cc processing.
I had a salesman came into our restaurant. He was offered us a lease machine and better rate. It was not!!! He was tricked us into signing the contract. He said the contract and lease for First Data machine can get out anytime. No termination fee. Now when time comes I got a better rate and trying to cancel. Now they need a big termination fee. Such bad business from Elitepay global and first data.
My story is the same as everyone else's. We signed on (about 2 years ago) after they came in and showed we could get a HUGE savings per month, blah blah blah. LIARS. We were told we could cancel anytime and that there was no early termination fee, blah blah. We actually found another company that beat their prices. So, I have tried numerous times to cancel this service, since we haven't used them for a little over a year. We have been getting billed about $45/mo. I can't even get anyone on the phone. How are these people still in business? You get 1 bad yelp as a small business and it can affect your incoming traffic, these ass-hats have numerous complaints and there's no recourse for the small business owner. As bad as the economy is right now and as much as every small business owner is struggling, these thieves are just raping us.
Back at the end of March and beginning of April we purchased the Clover system and were going to use First Data as our processor. The sales associate Benjamin ** told us we 90 days during which we could return the system and choose not to proceed. Within one week of signing up we found a system that met our needs much better than clover and First Data. So I called Benjamin to cancel our service and get reimbursed. He answered and said I would receive an email with the shipping labels to return it and also would receive a refund in full.
I waited a month and nothing happened. I received no refund and return labels. Since May of this year I have made over 100 phone calls to Benjamin to get this remedied. 75% of the time he never answers. The other 25% of the time he puts me on hold to get in touch with somebody who can help. I have sat on hold for over an hour half several times. Many times the call has hung up on me. I have NEVER once actually talked to any one else who could help me.
To make matters worse I then received an email from First Data saying that had not charged me for my account since we started and so they were going to retroactively charge me for service I never used all the way back to January. Ironically, I only signed up at the end of March/beginning of April. I have been charged and continue to be charged for a service I have never used.
It is October 26th, almost 7 months after I signed up. I have spent countless hours of my time and I am no closer to getting reimbursed or helped. I was told today by Benjamin that we would have a conference call at 2:00 CST and yet again I never received a call. I tried to call him three times and he never once picked up. This has been the worst customer service experience I have ever had.
CAUTION: If you are considering using clover or first data. Be very careful! Make sure you want it. The system itself seemed like a great system, but the lack of customer service and outright lack of integrity shown by First Data has been astounding. I have been told and promised that I would be helped dozens of times and not once has that promised been followed through on.
Well where do I start? I had a friend call me recommend First Data, so I allowed it. The guy came in and made statements that he never stood behind, and he also talked me into a 3yr contract (stupid on my part). The service and communication was terrible. The whole process was bad, so I went back to my old provider, but still paying the lease for the credit card machine, which is valued around 1500. But will cost me around 10,000. I canceled the program and they charged me cancellation fee, which ok, I get it, but they were suppose to pay my cancellation fee with my old company, but I couldn't cancel because of the problems.
Then I get a letter for collection on my account, so I call the company that sent it. They say that First Data states that I never canceled my account. The guy on the phone states that I owe 1176.75, but if want I can only pay around 700.00. What a joke this company is. Don't trust anything they say, or do and read everything very, very, very carefully.
