American Express incorrectly reported my account as closed, thus negatively affecting my debt ratio in turn decreasing my score. American Express attempted to correct the issue and they, a highly reputable company, received the run around from all of the Experian representatives. Amex sent emails and updates to correct the issue and no one from Experian had any sense of urgency or any brains to refer us to the right person to get it fixed. It’s mind blowing that Experian has such low standards for customer service. Kept on hold for 20-30 minutes each time I was transfer to a rep refused to assist in this dispute.

I got credit freezes because of the Equifax security breach. Now, I need a temporary unfreeze. I got them from Equifax and Transunion. Trying to deal with Experian is crazy. I am on hold for 1 hour, 52 minutes. All I get is annoying messages. "Your call is very important to us." what a crock. "...utilize our Website..." because we won't talk to you. "If you would like to receive a callback, press 1 now, you will not lose your place online." Sure, you've been a confidence builder for almost two hours, so I'm a true believer. It is almost two hours. I am giving up. What a crappy company. Customer Service? They ignore the customers and provide no service.

The other two credit bureaus have my scores in the high 700's. Experian has my score in the mid 600's ("Fair"). When I check their "reasons" for that score, they have everything marked as "Good" and "Excellent". So why is my total score "Fair"? They push me to pay for their products offering credit boosts, locking my report, credit simulation, etc. to "help" me raise my score. This should be illegal. They should not be able to ruin people's credit with low scores that are not backed by factual information, then try to strong-arm us into buying products from them to raise that score.

This experience is the worst. Don't put a lock on your credit. You have to go through China, Africa. I could have built two houses myself for the time I spent on the phone and email. It's not worth the time. How can one person have a freeze, lock and consumer all alert on a file and never get it unlocked.

Experian presents silly roadblocks that make it nearly impossible to unfreeze your account online. 1. It asks for address in a format that is not disclosed. By googling, I saw that the apartment number must be 100 Main ST Apt # 123 with no period and no comma after street. 2. They ask silly questions to verify, eg "when was your last residence built?" Current residence or one prior? And how am I supposed to guess when the building was erected? 3. No matter what you get a response that says "we cannot honor your request" but you can mail us a whole bunch of stuff to unfreeze it.. Which boneheads coded this?

Synchrony Bank entered a delinquent account in the amount of $35. The $35. actually were a credit after the Care Credit card was paid off. Synchrony corrected the mistake and informed Experian. Experian ignored that fact and decreased my score by 30 points. I wrote two certified letter and made one phone call with no success to get my 30 points back. Since at this point I started to remodel my home, naturally my credit balances were higher than usual and with the 30 points missing my refi cost was higher than it should have been.
When I called customer service, people were rude and highly unprofessional, that I am with Experian for a long time made no difference. I have spoken to an attorney and contemplating to file a claim against Experian who totally ignored my correspondence and just sent some generic documentation that had nothing to do with my complaint. My correspondence was addressed to Manager and Attorney. I'll cancel my membership and sign up with another company where I will be able to correspond with a rep via email if necessary. My recommendation - stay away from this company and sign up with another company. They do not care about their customers. Erika **

Experian credit report was great and not the issue. The issue is they have bad business practices. The rhetoric on their site would have you believe you pay once for the credit report and then it is done. They kept my card info and charged me $16 a month without notifying me. I'm not the only one who thought it was a one time payment. One of the top reasons for canceling provided by the website says "Cancel because you thought it was a one time payment". I called to rectify the mistake and get a refund. They transferred me around to 4 different people and had me wait for over 30 minutes. Did not get a refund and am not using this company again.

My 3 credit report scores have been typically in the 810-830 range for years with occasional dips when having made a large credit card purchase or taken out a personal loan. Since Experian started the Boost product, my Experian credit score is consistently 30 - 40 points lower. Today 11/24 my scores are 773 Experian, 817 Transunion, and 817 Equifax. I would bet if I signed up for Boost, my Experian score would magically be very close to my other scores. A sad commentary on a company that had one of the largest data breach and then acts like they are helping you.

I needed to talk to Experian about a sign-in problem. Their customer service line is worthless ~ I was cut off six times after going round and round in circles each time. Then they sent me a password reset link automatically ~ which itself did not work. I see other customers complaining about the same problems. How are we supposed to trust this company with our most important personal information when they can’t even handle customer service correctly? I would not use them if I had a choice, but in today’s climate, you have no choice but to deal with the Big Three credit reporting agencies.

If I could give zero stars, I would! I am trying to access my account so I can freeze my credit because my wallet was stolen, along with my ID. I had to reset my password, but after I clicked on the link and hit Submit, nothing happened. But the insulting part is trying to talk to someone! I tried contacting the toll free number, I got the runaround by an automated system. No option to talk to anyone. I tried contacting corporate HQ, and finally got a hold of someone. A woman by the name of Stephanie sent me a linkup reset my password, but I was again having the same problem.
I called again and talked to someone by the name of Adrian, who closed my account and told me to open another one in a couple hours. I tried two hours later, but the e-mail address I used on my previous account was already in use! I tried using another e-mail address, but it wouldn’t recognize my info, despite it being correct! You shouldn’t have to jump through hoops to talk to someone, but it seems like they care more about saving money by using automated systems and cheap labor than protecting your credit! Typical corporate behavior.

This is truly ridiculous! You can’t talk to a human. The prompts take you in circles over and over. The prompts never ask do you want to talk to a human. I got an alert from MYIDCARE showing there was an address used for me. That I have no idea where this address is. They added it as my new address. HOW? Who gives you the right to change my address? These companies control our credit. Don’t verify any information. Add accounts that you have no knowledge of and then don’t have a legit number to call and talk to a human to address it. Something needs to change and I’m writing Congress on this issues. This isn’t right and it shouldn’t be allowed for a company that we look to, to give our credit history out.

I just noticed that Experian has been siphoning money from my checking account WITHOUT my authorization! Apparently, ever since I got my FREE credit report from Annualcreditreport.com, they've CHARGED ME three times as a "recurring monthly debit". I DID NOT AND STILL DO NOT WANT THEIR UNTRUSTWORTHY SERVICES - especially after THEY leaked MY "secure" info to the world.
So when I noticed these charges, I signed into My Experian account, went to "contact us", and selected "Refunds" from the drop-down menu as the reason for contacting them. Then I selected "CHAT" and described my issue. Well GUESS WHAT. Conveniently, a message popped up that stated something to the fact that "All reps are currently helping other customers - please try back later" (and I took a screenshot of it). WHAT A JOKE! I'd bet a million dollars that had I selected "new customer" (or similar), a rep would've been helping me immediately!
I refuse to WASTE my TIME trying to contact an UNTRUSTWORTHY GREEDY CORPORATION who is only going to give me the RUNAROUND. I'm a busy woman, I've got health issues, etc and I can't believe their LEAR JETS are more important than MY need to pay BASIC BILLS (I'm on SSD, which they're stealing). Experian, if you're reading this, I demand you refund my money that you so sneakingly stole/are stealing. I expect to be refunded a minimum of $69.81.

Updated on 10/24/2019: This is a continuing saga... Experian has an abysmal service. I'm shocked that there hasn't been a class action against them. They have the most impressive contact methods if the goal is to divert or avoid any contact with those trying to reach you. After 4 days of attempts I finally got through on a phone to someone, this person obviously didn't like their job. I was friendly, explained the issue. They tried to reset my account, but said that it had a problem and I'd need to call back in 24 to 48 hours to have the account reset again, as currently it was locked.
I'm now about 6 days later, and still can't get in. The amazing part is that their own system takes your information, walks you through a "Successful" password reset, only to deny your login after. Obviously this "** doesn't work". But they don't seem to care. Any attempts to reach out and let them know of any problem seem to be avoided at all costs. HOW IS THIS COMPANY HELPFUL AND IN CONTROL OF OUR LIVES WITH THEIR INCORRECT INFORMATION?

For fraud protection, my financial advisor recommended that I place credit freezes with the four main credit tracking companies. It was a quick and easy process with Equifax, Transunion, and Innovis, but Experian places unnecessary hurdles in the process along with significant time delays to freeze and unfreeze. (Rather than doing it online they want us to mail in copies of ID, utility bills, social security numbers, etc -- which is an identity theft risk in itself.) Presumably this is to sell their "CreditLock" for $300/year which provides the ability to freeze and unfreeze in an efficient and timely manner. I am surprised it is legal for them to make it so difficult for consumers to protect themselves. And every path I travel in their phone menu lands in some automated response -- impossible to reach an actual person.

I am attempting to find out if my daughter (who is a minor) had her identity stolen. On their site they say you can upload all of the information they require and they give you an area to write about the issue. Every time I uploaded the information, I received an error report. Initially I had uploaded documents which were not in the proper format. After I corrected this issue, I kept getting the same error message that I had timed out and all of my uploaded documents were deleted from the system.
I then tried to call them to see if they were aware of the issue or to take care of the issue with a person. Everything was automated and I could not talk with a person. And the automated system just tells you to mail all of the required documentation to them. Why would I want to snail mail my birth certificates and social security cards first of all (even copies) and if my daughter's identity has been stolen, why should I have to wait another week or more to see if it is? This is extremely poor customer service and I will not use this company for credit information in the future unless absolutely necessary.

Experian DID NOT place a permanent fraud alert on my account as requested in 2013 - full police report and FTC documentation filed with them. They DID NOT reinstate my credit freeze after 30 days as requested - I needed to mention the FTC before they would reinstate it. They make contacting a person impossible, somehow you end up signing up for all kinds on things on their website with no knowledge of it whatsoever and I am not naive about websites or electronics. They sent a postcard with NO NAME - just a P.O. Box in Texas saying my name was removed from "preapproved credit offer mailing lists" as I requested. I permanently removed my name years ago but this postcard also noted to be permanently removed.
I needed to send my full name, SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, and complete addresses for past two years to the address on the postcard (again, this is only a P.O. Box in Texas - no reference ANYWHERE on the document to Experian). I have an inch thick file just on Experian in my interactions in trying to protect access to my information so I have numerous addresses and telephone numbers for them - it is Experian. I have filed a complaint with the FTC. Everyone that experiences these issues with Experian should do the same. It is easy, you can do it online. Just google "FTC" - go to the "Federal Trade Commission" website - click to file a complaint - file under "Other". We need to get regulations that will prohibit them from using our sensitive information to run their business and then be completely unaccountable for their behavior with that information and towards us.

I only wanted to try out the 7-day free trial and cancelled it after not really liking the experience (UI itself is annoying and confusing in its own right). Even though I wanted to end the trial, for some reason it automatically signed me up for a premium membership and charged my card. It's so difficult to even get a live representative to cancel this and the website navigation to cancel was impossible. Two months have passed and I'm still unsure if my account was cancelled properly (after I had to look up how to cancel online in Quora because there was no way to talk to an actual person to cancel it for me). It has been so frustrating because I am so busy that I try, get busy and forget (till I see another charge on my account). I have tried to call all the numbers available, with no luck, I have also tried ALL the options. I have called at 8am, 10am, 1pm, 5pm... It is not a matter of when you call or what option you pick. I had the 24.99 charge made to my account as well. I looked up the details of my transaction and saw there was a phone number for the company making the charge, Experian (479) 343-8126. I called the phone number and without any runaround got through to a live person. I told him I had a charge I did not authorize and wanted immediately to cancel. I was asked for my debit card number, which I refused. I ended up giving him my member ID to 'confirm' my identity in order to cancel what would have been a recurring charge (he insisted I had signed up for some trial membership that expired) although I am going to dispute the charge altogether with the bank. The transaction was listed in my bank statement as EXPERIAN *CREDIT479343-8126-CA. Look at only the numbers on this, it's the same as what the phone number was listed for Experian that I called. Luckily, soon after I found my wallet and then tried to UNFREEZE. Experian was the WORST. I tried to retrieve my PIN online but was continuously told I had the wrong information (I think I know my own address and birthday?). I was FINALLY able to speak with a real person, but they were dismissive of all of my concerns and barely spoke English.
I received short, rude answers to all my questions and what it boiled to was I NEEDED TO WAIT 7-10+ DAYS FOR A NEW PIN TO COME IN THE MAIL. What? I am being punished for your faulty services? I asked why the online retrieve PIN feature was not working with my information and the response I got was literally “Sometimes it just doesn’t work.” ...I couldn’t believe it. I fully expect the PIN to not show up in 7-10 days. TL;DR STAY FAR AWAY FROM EXPERIAN. Do not give them a dime of your money, and only freeze if you are willing to tattoo their precious PIN on your forearm.

I was trying to get a fraudulent negative mark on my credit report removed and had to create an Experian account in order to get information on the collecting agency that owned this debt. I don't remember the exact process I went through, but I think I had to pay a $1 processing fee in order to generate the report (so, by definition, not free). That's how they get your credit card on file. I paid the fee, received my credit report, and I'm on my way. Fast forward two weeks and I notice a $22 charge from Experian. Having already been through this BS with so many other companies, I think to myself...oh crap...I bet there was some trial period I unknowingly signed up for. So, I tried finding information about a membership when I signed onto their website. No luck. Tried to find a way to cancel on their website. No luck. I finally did a Google search and found a treasure trove of complaints about this company.
So I called. It took at least 15 minutes of navigating their PURPOSEFULLY confusing automated system and redialing 4-5 times, but I finally got someone on the phone. They said that when I got my "free" credit report, I also signed up for a "free" trial, which ended after 7 days and I was automatically charged $22 for some completely bogus premium membership. Ah, that's why I've been getting three emails a day from them--it's that "premium" membership. Wonderful. So I tell the nice lady as calmly as I can (it's never their fault, remember that and be nice) that I never knowingly signed up for this. She says, “Well it's in the terms and conditions, you just have to read it.” Guess what? I've since downloaded the terms and conditions. It's more than 21,000 words long. And even after skimming it for a while, I still couldn't find where it referenced this scam.
I tell her again that I never KNOWINGLY signed up for this service. There wasn't a giant banner detailing this agreement. The representative apologizes but tells me memberships are non-refundable. So, I tell her that burying agreements in terms and conditions isn't acceptable and that what Experian (and so many other companies) is doing is essentially theft and I that I imagine she gets these calls on a daily, if not hourly, basis. She tells me to hold on one moment. She comes back and says they’re able to refund the money on a one-time basis. I guess memberships are refundable after all!
TL;DR - Experian purposely buries fraudulent schemes in their terms and conditions in order to extract $22 from every person who signs up for a "free" credit report. Likely, these agreements wouldn't stand up to a lawsuit because presuming someone is going to print out 21,000 words of legalese and read through it all to look for membership agreements isn't legitimate. So, tell them it's fraud and that they're stealing your money and they'll probably refund it.

I asked again if I could speak to someone else. She placed me on hold to explain to them what is going on. Nancy came back from having me on hold and said, "They are not available. "So, first you put me on hold to explain to them my situation, get back on the phone and tell me they are busy out of no where?" This is beyond annoying. I am unable to authenticate into PNC (API issues at Experian) and nothing was found via my Huntington bank account, even though I pay all of my bills via electronic transfer. Their "boost" doesn't work at all and their customer support, whom barely speak English (sound like they just ran across the border and this was the first job they were able to find) have no clue on how the system works and are COMPLETELY non-technical. This includes the female supervisor that I spoke to... completely useless individual, I could barely understand her. I asked for this to be escalated via IT ticket and they gave me a case number (which they use for feedback) in which I am unable to follow-up. PATHETIC, do not use these ** clowns' software.

Experian is tricking consumers into getting billed for a monthly subscription when their intention is simply to use the free credit reporting and freezing service advertised. Looking at other consumer reports I can see that this is a widespread practice of deceit, in which Experian is purposely not being clear that they are signing up consumers for a costly subscription. They do not send any receipts or notifications that you are going to be billed or that you have signed up for this paid service. They refuse to provide refunds and are clearly knowingly using this as a scam to steal money from vulnerable consumers simply looking to protect their data. I use the other credit reporting agencies and haven't been tricked into anything like this and I cannot argue strongly enough not to use this service.

The laws are clear and they’re not following them. I have not received one letter from Experian, the collection agency or the original creditor with a contract with my name or signature on it. They refuse to help and instead say verified with no proof. All they do is send an updated credit report saying verified. They are constantly breaking the FCRA laws and are not being punished for it.

This company makes it incredibly hard to unfreeze access to your credit even when you have your social security number and all historical information. If you do not have the PIN that they sent you years back and cannot remember it, they won't unlock your credit report! Good luck buying a house or anything quickly because the only way to get the PIN from them is by mail! IT'S INSANE!!!! I won't be using the freeze feature any longer moving forward and would rather take the risk of it being stolen. Undoing that would be easier than having the freeze removed.

Also Experian has started the new boost program where you can add your utility bills. Experian uses coercive practices when it comes to the security of their consumer accounts. After I cancelled that account I found out the credit freeze I had placed on my account no longer existed, thereby leaving my credit account exposed to possible fraud on my account.
I did not know that Experian had left me exposed to credit fraud for three days when I received an email stating ("Because you’ve cancelled your paid membership and no longer have access to CreditLock, your Experian credit file has been unlocked. So, any upcoming scheduled lock or unlock has been cancelled. Upgrade your account to use this feature again"). Started with Equifax - wasn't sure where to begin, so I called their customer service number and was connected to an actual person within 2 minutes. Unfrozen without any problems. TransUnion - Hopped on their website, punched in my information, unfroze my account. Done.
Experian - Opened the web page, Confusing to navigate, punched in my information, didn't work for some reason. Called customer service, got a robot, had to look up how to get a person on the phone, needed very detailed instructions to get an actual person which took 30 minutes to gather. Called the number to wait on hold for 30 minutes, gave the representative my personal info, got put on hold for 5 minutes at a time for 3 times, asked for a supervisor, got put on hold again, found out that because I got one of my security questions wrong that they are unable to help me without my pin which I didn't remember. They offered to mail me a pin which could take 7-10 business days.... I think you get the idea.
I hope this comes as a warning to others to be very particular about the information you save in order to reference it for Experian. They will most likely be unable to help you without a detailed account of all of your information and god forbid you get one of the security questions wrong. However, when I needed to get a new credit card and install utilities at a new apartment, while the process of temporarily unfreezing for Equifax and TransUnion took no more than 15 minutes total, there were endless problems with Experian. First it took ages just to be able to get onto customer service because the bot does not give the option of discussing freeze options, then when I got onto customer service, the best they could do is tell me to mail in a host of evidence for verification. So basically no electricity for me or the much needed new card because of Experian for over a week. I give them 2 stars because they definitely blocked my people from accessing my credit. I initiated two disputes on my account on collections that are not mine, TransUnion and Equifax did due diligence and removed them, not Experian, oh no. They chose to validate these fraudulent accounts and drop my score even though I have a great mix of a mortgage, loan, and four credit cards. My oldest account is 14 years old. I paid off two cars and a $10,000 personal loan and I have NEVER missed or been late on a payment in 14 years on any of these accounts. 14 years...on my cc's. My utilization is under 10 percent and they drop my score because of these fraudulent accounts. Then I tried their boost sham and it lowered my score even more, even though I have never missed a payment on any of my utilities, either.
I called Experian customer service and after 25 minutes got a rep from overseas who barely spoke English and who promptly hung up on me when I asked her to explain my score dropping 20 points with no negative reporting. What a Sham company. I would love to get together with a group of you and do a class action lawsuit against them. Experian Credit Reporting is taking money to add extra points to your credit score. Everyone who pays their utility bills on time should benefit from that payment history without paying Experian extra money. Why should a consumer be fleeced by Experian for extra points? This will also cause minimum scores for mortgages, car loans, etc., to increase. Why should a person be able to pay for a credit score that equals the credit score of someone who actually earned the score? How is this legal? I got through all the prompts providing the necessary info to retrieve my username and passwords etc... until I get to the screen that informs me I will be getting an email to regain access and to give it at least 15 minutes and to also check my spam folder. I have done this whole process nearly 20 times in the last few weeks.
I have got got one email regarding getting access to my account. Yet I still get a few emails a day telling me there has been new updates and changes to my credit. I can't get a customer service rep on the line and when I respond to the emails I get a generic message telling me how important I am and someone will get back to me soon. Starting to feel like this is a scam. I provided a bunch of personal info and now can't even access the account. This is so frustrated!

I'm applying for a mortgage and my lender couldn't access my Experian report, so he advised me to give them a call. After 8 minutes of listening to the phone tree and pushing buttons, I was finally given to a woman across the ocean who spoke terrible English and snapped at me when I asked her (very politely) to repeat herself. She asked me several questions to verify my account, but since her English was so awful I couldn't understand what she was asking me so I failed the security questions. I know she was as annoyed as I was, and this is her job so she probably deals with this all the time, but in truth, I don't blame her so much as I blame the company who hired her.
I am so frustrated. It's not like I'm ordering a pizza, I need to know why there's a glitch in my account. I don't care if someone is from another country, but the language barrier is nearly impossible to get past when you're dealing with such an important matter. For Experian to outsource their clients to another country that hires people with little to no experience is not just cheap on their part, it shows us that they don't care enough about our issues to put us in touch with someone who can help us in a timely manner. Now, thanks to them hiring cheap, unqualified labor I will either have to call back and listen to another 8 minutes of a recording and push buttons or write a letter detailing my concerns. I would prefer not to do either, I would have liked my issue to already be resolved. Shame on you, Experian, for not caring about your clients.

4/20/19: After MANY attempts to talk to a live person at Experian (their 800 number does NOT give an option to talk to a human) I finally get Ana in the "Titans" group who takes my credit card number and promises to send me an expedited PIN number that will ship out on Monday, April 22 to arrive Tuesday, April 23, 2019. It is now April 23, 2019 at 4:39pm and nothing has arrived, and nothing will. I checked my credit card and nothing was charged on 4/22-there should have been a $20 charge for the expedited PIN shipment.
Just now, on 4/23/19 I have spent over 30 minutes trying numbers and searching the internet for a way to get in touch with an actual human at Experian, it is next to impossible. An automated line asks for your SS# and zip code then gives you limited options, NEVER does it offer a human. By a stroke of luck I found another number: 1-714-830-7000 but had to press a "corporate" button, and finally got a RUDE human who had to transfer me to the regular consumer number. This is absolutely ridiculous.
Luis, who I was finally connected with at Experian today, said that Ana from the Titans group NEVER ordered my expedited PIN to be shipped to me. He promises that he has and it will go out tonight and I should have it by tomorrow morning. ALSO-the credit/freeze section of the website is a piece of crap and says that I am not allowed to retrieve my PIN, thus FORCING ME to pay $20 for expedited shipping so I do not have to wait 10 days for the US Mail to bring it to me for 50 cents. I called Experian to dispute an erroneous collection claim. The bill had been paid online months earlier and I had the documentation to prove it. I spoke with a customer service rep who guided me to the upload site for Experian so that I could submit my documentation. It did not work. I got a series of error messages saying everything from the file being too large to my upload timing out, and each new error message was invalid. I called Experian back and the new rep told me to try a different browser, which I did, but the results were still the same. They told me to fill out their submission form and mail in my documentation which in and of itself wouldn't be a problem. But they also required that I include a copy of my social security card, drivers license and several other revealing items of proof. Talk about a security risk! Why would I send all that personal information via snail mail?
I called back a third time and spoke with yet another representative who repeated the same information back to me. It is ridiculous that Experian's website does not work properly. This is not the first time I have encountered this. It was equally frustrating when I tried to put a freeze on my account after they were hacked last year. This company is in and of itself a security risk. I don't understand why they are not accountable or regulated appropriately and why there is no way to contact them with a consumer complaint. There is not so much as an email address with which to contact them and file a complaint. I am incredibly frustrated and will do whatever I can to restrict my interaction with this bogus credit bureau.

It sounds like a pretty good offer when it’s 1st delivered to you. However, When you cancel your subscription online and assume you're NOT going to be charged the monthly fee of $21.95 you will later discover that Experian will start billing you anyway. How they do it is, they have your "authority" to be billed $1 to access your credit report and informing you that if you fail to cancel the subscription within 7 days, you authorize Experian to bill you monthly at a rate of $21.95. Sounds legit except unless you take a screenshot of the cancellation statement you have no proof that you requested a cancellation within the agreed upon time frame (7 days) you will miraculously start getting charged.
How is this so successful, you ask? They wait for several months before they start charging you. The time lapse between you cancelling and the billing to start taking effect causes you to believe all is good. Basically you let your guard down because you check the 1st month after canceling and there is no charge so you assume all is good. Wrong!!!! I called them and told them that this is an awful business practice and all I received in return was...."Okay". DO NOT GIVE THEM ACCESS TO YOUR BANKING INFORMATION!!!

I was dropped 60 points for paying off a car loan. And raised 2 points for opening a new line of credit. I've called to disagree with my score from Experian because my scores with TransUnion and Equifax are almost 100 points difference. Recently I spoke with an Experian rep who told me to open another car loan. I laughed. I've paid off 2 auto loans and you dropped me 60 points for each why wouldn't do that again?
I went from almost 700 to 570 overnight. When? The crazy drops in score began after I ended my monthly membership and went to the free membership. I use Credit Karma, which is free, and verify frequently with TransUnion and Equifax, always correct. In my experience, Experian is nothing but a fraudulent business with awful customer service and irrational scoring systems.
I am going to start paying for membership again just to test validity of my hypothesis. I'll check back on this in a month. I believe Experian should be investigated by the federal government for fraudulent reporting. If you pay your bills on time and pay your obligations fully, your credit score should reflect. Something is broken at Experian. And the customer service reps have irrational responses to claims. You should be allowed to dispute your score. Experian is full of beans.

Then you call to cancel, they are very careful to say (automated only, no live person), "You want to cancel your FREE" membership?" Of course, you say "yes" not immediately noticing they said the "free" membership, you have no choice to select any other membership, paid for example, or option to talk to a live person.
After running down 5 different numbers, I FINALLY got a real person, who was difficult to understand. He stated that my "membership" had been cancelled today, and I told him that was my "free" membership (remember, they are trying to get you with that "free" only cancellation) and explained I wanted to cancel the membership I was being charged for. He then asked me for the credit card number that was being charged and they would "research" it. I asked for a supervisor, stating that they should have that information and please cancel any and all memberships with Experian. He said (something like) we could go round and round and if I wanted to cancel, I had to give my credit card number or call my bank and cancel the credit card. Then the call was disconnected. When I recently had to lift credit freezes to buy a house, I told the loan agency that I would lift the freeze at Equifax and at Trans Union, but not at Experian because I did not trust Experian to make it easy to do or to even do it when asked. I tried several times entering my Social Security number, birthdate, full name and address, and other personal information to no avail. The online message I received stated my transaction couldn’t be completed with the (correct) information I provided.
After calling support (and re-entering my personal information via touchpad) before talking with someone, I was told that I was unable to lift my credit freeze unless I provided a 10-digit PIN code which I received when I signed up for the credit report/freeze several years ago. I spoke with support twice and told them I could not remember my PIN asking if there was a way to reset it. Support told me I would be able to get my original PIN sent to me via postal mail overnight for a $20 fee or wait 7 to 10 business days to receive my pin free of charge.
When I asked if I could cancel my membership, support told me that was not an option and that my account had now been blocked for 30 days. I told them I would not pay overnight mail shipping for something I could reset immediately online. When I asked to speak with the support person’s manager or supervisor I was told he/she was unavailable and would not hear from them for 2-3 hours.
By now my frustration led me to searching online for information about canceling my membership with Experian. I signed up for a membership on Experian for a trial membership of $1.99 for what I thought was a month but turned out to be only 7 days. If I had realized the trial was only for 7 days I would not have signed up - my gut instinct that credit report companies can't be trust has been confirmed. Buyer beware!

I got one report in March 2018 for which I paid $1, and then have been charged $27.08 every month. I have tried several times to cancel online but cannot because I have no written nor digital confirmation of any account number. When I call I cannot reach a living person and am asked about 5 questions confirming my identity and then when I choose the option to cancel my account, the automated voice told me I cannot because I do not have an account! Yet money is being deducted every month from my checking account! THIS IS FRAUD!!! My only option is to call my bank and stop payment on Experian.

I purchased a $1 credit report and then Experian charged my credit card for almost two years before I noticed and they feel good about hiding some small print that cost me 351.20. This type of business scam should be illegal. Warning Experian are crooks.

Experian charges me $24.99 for their credit monitoring service. Twice they have charged my account and absolutely refused to give me access to my account. Whenever I log in to my account, there is a message that states "Your card could not be billed". Because of this message, I am unable to navigate any further, thus restricting my access to my account. I have verified with my bank that my card was indeed charged in the amount of $24.99. I even verified with Experian that my card was successfully charged. However, for the 2nd time in 2 months, I am restricted from my account.

Same as others. Came for my free credit report, which cost $1, and ended up as a monthly $21.95 charge. Canceled as soon as I noticed. No refund. For a company that purports to be pro consumer protection, their business model is predicated on a lack of consumer awareness. Shameful.

Trying to get a hold of an actual person is near impossible. I was unable to figure out the magic combination, and based off other reviews, it doesn't help much when you finally do talk to someone. It seems their website and answering service is designed to avoid having their CUSTOMERS ever talk to the company. If you want to take a protective freeze off your account, GOOD LUCK! And good luck getting a loan even again while the freeze is on there. Hopefully canceling my membership works! Guessing it will not.

I called Experian to do a credit freeze. It's completely impossible to do so by phone or online. It's imperative that I get this credit freeze. You can not reach a person by calling. They expect you to mail in a ton of documents to even get a credit freeze. I'm completely disgusted with them. TransUnion is very easy and Equifax. What a pain...

I am working with the 3 major credit reporting agencies through a couple of disputes. Experian has completed 2 separate disputes faster than both other agencies have completed one. I am assuming the outcome will not always be what you want but the fact that they have completed my disputes way faster than what was expected (within a couple of days) makes me extremely happy. Hopefully the other reporting agencies will take note.

I have signed up for Experian ID protection for a number of years. They messaged me last year 2018 to inform me the price was going up for 2019. I canceled my auto renewal and said I would decide when it was nearer to the renewal time. I have paid my membership till April this year. They sent me a statement early January that changes had been made to my credit.
I opened the login page which for 2019 is different than 2018, put in my password/user correctly only to be told incorrect user/password. It is now twice that I have had to wait over 90 minutes listening to their spin about how great they are before getting to speak to anyone that can help me. On both occasions I have been given a temp password to enter my account, would you believe both of those temp passwords produced the same incorrect user/password.
I have used their change password link and have done so, on using that same answer incorrect user/password. I have written now 3 times over the same period of weeks. No response. If this is their idea of credit security for paid-up members How do I go about receiving credit for the months that they are not allowing me to obtain what I have paid for. Will I renew?

Experian is a disreputable company that should be put out of business. They practice fraud and deceit in their business marketing and behaviors. Since they are one of only three credit reporting agencies that financial institutions depend on to access a person's creditworthiness, you would think Experian would hold themselves to high ethical protocols and be responsive to the people they gather information on.
I signed up for access to my credit information at 4.99 for 30 days and then 19.99 thereafter. Within that 30 days I was charged 53.10. When I called I was told that I could escalate the claim and received a claim number. They said it would take about a week. That was three weeks ago. I have tried repeatedly to contact them. Unfortunately you must give your social security number to the robot before getting into the system. It is obvious that since I filed a claim, the SS number gets checked and I am put into a rotating number choice and then hung up on. No live operator, no choices relative to my problem and even if I make a choice I am disconnected. This company should be put out of business.

I called in for a refund for a monthly charge in December 2018. When I was first charged, I wasn't aware that I was being charged. I called today January 24, 2019 again and the representative refunded the most current month but his supervisor refused to provide me with the initial charge. The day I saw that I was charged I called Experian several times and made several login attempts to no avail.
The issue was that my email and social security number combination didn't match, which was an absolute lie as I was receiving newsletters from Experian from the day of the initial "enrollment". I should of known better because this happened to me some years ago that I unknowingly signed up for a 7 day trial then was looped into a monthly subscription that I would of NEVER signed up for! On this call on Jan 25, 2019 I was placed on the phone with a supervisor who off bat told me, "No, No, No" when I am certain at her discretion that she could of refunded my money. She disconnected the phone on me and prior to that told me that if I called back that I would find someone else to talk to because she couldn't and wouldn't credit back my funds to me.
Without any regard she disconnected the call. Since she rudely disconnected the call on me I called back 15 times going through the automated system in circles the same way when I initially called in without the option of speaking to anyone. You are required to enter in your social security number and this is how they determine how not to service your call. I feel that the system is set up in this manner as to ensure a refund for the charges are not granted to the deceived "customer". This review isn't the last for me and it is only the beginning.

In doing so, they have been debiting my account 21.95 for the past two months. I just spoke with billing and they will not refund my account. I am very upset over this! After years a member with Experiandirect.com, I suddenly cannot log into my account. The email didn’t come with payment confirmation this month (Jan 19) and I knew something was wrong. I went to log in to my acct. and found I couldn’t. The Log-Ins were right but my security questions, PIN, and email were not. After hours of calling I finally found a way to connect with a live person. They were rude but I was insistent. They change my ID and promised to email my password which never came in 10 minutes as promised, twice even, until a third representative finally gave me all the changed security questions and PIN number to use “forgot password” online.
When I finally did get in and went to change all the personal info, security questions, etc, I realized the email address and phone number were associated with a someone from GA, same area of individual who had my credit card sent to her address, changed the email, and spent a fortune. Fraud committed several months back. Inside job? Yes, it seems this company is not legitimate and needs federal investigating - pronto! My next step, after reading all the other reviews is to try and cancel my membership. Wish me luck!

It is bad enough that hackers stole out personal information, Experian Customer service is even worse: When I want to unfreeze my credit report temporarily, I do everything right but get an error message asking me to call an 888 number. I am a 63 yo male and all in all my credit experience Experian has always been the worst for reporting information. It is unfortunate that large companies like AMEX even uses Experian. The Experian Credit report is the most unorganized and hardest to read. Experian reports erroneous consumer information and when you try to correct the information, it takes forever. The upload website at ** times out before you can finish writing and when I uploaded a 1.48 mb PDF it gave me an error saying it was limited to 5 mb. I did this 4 times and gave up. I call their phone and the automated prompt only allows for two selections and you really have to work at searching for a phone number to speak to a live person. When I finally call the number at 7:10 am CT. a recording says call back during business hours, but doesn't give you the business hours.
I personally consider all credit reporting agencies as Pimps. They sell your information and don't share a crumb of what they rake in. All we get is a free credit report once a year and that is only because it is a requirement of the state you live in. Everyone should report Experian to the BBB. Experian needs to step up their game or get out of the game. Shut it down!

I was please with the detail of the report, but cancelling CreditWorks Premium has taken over 2 1/2 hours. I had to go to WikiHow to find a phone number to cancel. The nice young lady told me it was cancelled and that I'd receive and email confirmation within 10 minutes. Two hours later no confirmation.
I called again. Got verbal confirmation that it was cancelled. She said it was sent to a different email but could not help me change in to the correct email. I got angry and asked to speak with the supervisor. Her supervisor told me the process was automated and he couldn't email me either. Then I was reading recent email from them before calling ProtectMyID to ask questions & noticed they said they sent 37 alerts to me in past month but I have not received any alerts actually so I figured it was a scam but will log on & call ProtectMyID after NY Day when they are open for current info/alerts on my plan & looked up last email from them & it was Dec 1 this year & nothing since.
So between the frequent emails past month & having the ‘37 alerts’ sent to me & my member ID being different I marked it as a scam but will also call my ProtectMyID plan next week to report this false activity to them! I only want to let honest people & companies how I investigate when something’s just not right & may save someone time & $$$!

My wife is new to credit and why would I run her monthly credit score.
