I answered an internet ad offering a free credit report from Experian. In the process of obtaining my "free" report, they asked for a credit or debit card. They charged me $1.00 even though this report was supposedly free. Then about two weeks later, a charge of $13.75 appeared on my bank statement. I called my bank, found out that it was listed as a "recurring monthly charge" from Experian. I called Experian, they refused to refund this money so I wrote a letter to their consumer complaint department. This is out and out fraud, but I have not heard anything back from this company. Caveat emptor. Even the credit bureaus rip you off.

I googled for a free annual credit report and apparently, was directed to the Experian website. Rather than a free report, I was later charged $31.95 for the report and was enrolled in their membership program without authorization. 8 days after receiving my not-free report, I was charged a $17.95 membership fee. I immediately contacted customer service. The female CSR I spoke with stated they would not refund the $17.95 fee as I did not cancel the membership within 7 days. I was very upset and told her to cancel the membership, which I did not authorize, effective immediately. She then attempted to hard sell the membership at a reduced rate. How can Experian charge a $17.95 monthly fee for membership and at the same time, offer to charge about 1/2 of that amount? Ultimately, I was charged over $50 for a free report. Why was my report not free? I have no idea how to have my money refunded. Beware of Experian.

On 4/2/12, I noticed a charge of $33.95 on my checking account from Experian for a credit report. I had not ordered a credit report and had not used Experian for anything for at least 5 years. I called them and was told that an account had been set up using my debit card, that they would cancel the account and refund the charge. I did receive a refund a few days later. I did not have any other unauthorized charges, but decided to get a new card anyway.

Now, on 4/23/12 and 4/24/12, I had two charges from Experian on a completely different credit card, one for $14.95 and one for $19.95. I called them and again, was told an account was set up using the card number and that it would be canceled and I would be refunded. I have not had any other unauthorized charges on this card. I made them aware that this same thing happened a few weeks ago, but they simply apologized and suggested I get a new card. I have no idea how Experian got my credit card numbers. Experian appears to be setting up false accounts and making fraudulent charges to people's credit and debit cards. This needs to be stopped!

On April 6th, I ordered a one time Experian credit check, directly from their website. I received the credit check with score, and was satisfied with it. I was charged the advertised amount for the credit check and score, and had no problems with the service at that time. On 4/14/12, I then went back to Experian.com, in an attempt to view my already purchased credit report again (you can view it for 30 days). And also, because I was referring the site to my mother. Later on that day, I received an email mentioning my purchase of a three score report for $39.95.

So I went back to the site, and looked under my account info, and noticed I had two prepared reports. One on 4/6/12, and another, a three score report, on 4/14/12. After contacting Experian via email, and explaining to them that I never purchased a second report, I received a reply saying that according to their records, I did, and that they could not "return" the services back to the other agencies, and that this cost is passed on to me. I replied, stating that I not only never authorized such a transaction, but that while visiting their site on 4/14/12, I never saw any message that my credit card was going to be charged for such a transaction.

I received a default "your message was received" email, but have not received a follow up to this last email sent. I will never use Experian again, personally or professionally (I am a real estate agent), and I will never refer them again either. The disparity between all three scores is usually too small to justify the necessity of a three score report (which is why I only authorized a single score report). So I have no problem with using one of the other bureaus for a single check/score report in the future. I just don't want to risk something like this happening again, and having no recourse.

I filed a dispute about my Experian Credit Report. They sent me an email to a link to see the dispute resolution. The link asks for information including social security number. However, it will not allow me to type the number in. There is no other way to review the dispute resolution report and no way to contact Experian otherwise. Plus, they only give you four days to review the resolution online, so they pretty much have you in a stranglehold here.

I just discovered a $19.95 charge on my debit account for a credit report that I never ordered. The money was just taken out of my checking account without my knowledge or permission by Experian. According to my checking account statement, it was for a credit report. But I have never ordered a credit report. I have never asked for any credit report or wanted one nor have I applied for any credit cards in the past two years. So it doesn't make any sense. I called the company and got no information about why this money was arbitrarily removed from my account without my permission. Isn't this theft? How can it be legal for someone to just take money out of your checking account without your knowledge or permission?

I found a charge of $19.95 from Experian on my credit card. I called the 877 number on my statement to ask Experian the basis of the charge so I would have info for my cc company when I disputed the charge. The Experian rep said he couldn't tell me anything unless I supplied him with my full credit card number! No freaking way! I told him that was not going to happen. So he told me to dispute it with my cc company or I could request a three way call with Experian and my cc company. I told him I'd like to do the 3-way call. So he said I should hang up and he'd call me back once I had my cc company on the line. I would wait for eternity for that call?

I have filed a dispute complaint with my cc, but what a pain in the **. I pay a lot of bills with this card so now I will have to get a whole new cc number etc. How can this keep happening? I see my complaint is just a repeat of many others, no contact with this company yet they charge us and get away with it.

They will refund, but they advised I get a new card (I will not do that unless other charges appear). The problem seems to be Experian itself and not some stolen credit card number since I have not had any similar problems with that card. I would advise that no one should use Experian in the future since they either fraudulently charge these things themselves or they do not have proper controls to ensure these charges do not occur.

We were billed $14.95 monthly from November 2011 to February 2012 for a total of $59.80 on our Citi AAdvantage Visa Card. We never subscribed to any services from Experian and we protested these charges that were refunded on 03/08/12. Then on 3/09/12, Experian again billed us $14.95 and on 3/11/12 for $19.95, both on a Citi MasterCard that was never used since the beginning on October 2011.

Through calls to the Citi Fraud Department and to Experian (neither of which provided us with last names of representatives), I was led to conclude that Experian has devised a new fraud scheme that could yield them hundreds of millions of dollars if they are not stopped. Because Experian is billing thousands of people who have never contacted Experian for credit reports or fraud protection services, they are collecting money monthly from thousands of people who (unlike us) do not know they are being ripped off.

When I typed in "$19.95 $14.95 Experian" in a search engine, I was led to your website, (www.consumeraffairs.com) in which several people submitted reports that replicated the exact experience I had. Based on the response I received from Experian and the similar complaints I read online, I believe that Experian intentionally does not ask people for the security code on the back of their credit cards because they want to use credit card numbers of people like ourselves, whom they bill without even having our names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses and other contact information in their files. This arrangement can provide them with deniability which they did not have when the FTC fined them in 2005 for deceptive and fraudulent marketing.

This new fraud scheme can yield them far more than the million dollars they were fined in 2005. I have written to the FTC and I hope they will protect American citizens from what could be the largest fraud scheme in history.

In March 2012, I go to my bank account and I noticed Experian has put a new charge of $19.95 on my debit card. I have not given my new card out to anyone.

Apparently, they rolled over from the old bank account number (it is what Experian said). I call ** on this because the bank said that would be true if they had it as a recurring charge, but this was a new charge. I did not give out this number and had no credit report sent to me via email or mail. So I had to cancel my debit card again and change the PIN number out. This is such a hassle because now I have to wait 1 week for a new card. This is really starting to piss me off and I want everyone to know that they are scamming people, but I have no idea how they are getting the number. The customer service representative at Experian said that someone signed up for Experian and they mistyped the number and it was the number from my account. The bank reversed the charges and I thought all was good. In March 2012, I noticed several other charges from Experian on my new debit card for $14.95 and $19.95 one night. I definitely didn't give this card number out. I again canceled my debit card and opened a case with the bank fraud department immediately that night. My boyfriend called a number for Experian in the morning to find out what these charges were and they wanted my credit card number, which I was not willing to give. The representative did mention this was his 15th call like this by 8:15AM Pacific time.

Working with the Wells Fargo fraud department, we were able to conference call a number they had for Experian and dispute the charges. We were told someone named "Gerard **" opened an account using my card. It didn't sound like they had his last name on file or maybe just weren't willing to give that information to us. I questioned them how someone could have opened an account with my credit card and was told they don't require security verification with credit card purchases nor address or name verification. I gave them some grief about this irresponsible practice, but got nowhere other than they acknowledged it was a problem.

Experian would only agree to a partial reversal of the charges, despite the fact that they agreed someone fraudulently used my card. The bank did a full reversal of the charges and will try to get the money back from Experian. If it's true that Experian has no credit card verification in place, it's no wonder so many people have complained on this site and others. Not cool, Experian. I also opened a follow-up police report on it, I doubt that will go anywhere either. It sucks.

On Friday, March 9, on my Chase checking account, I noticed two pending charges for $1.00 each. It showed that they originated from Experian in California and an 800 number was listed on the transaction line. When I called this phone number to find out what Experian was, they informed me they were a company that provided credit reports upon request and that in order to find out the basis of the charges, they would need my debit card information to locate said charges. I told them as I did not provide them with this information in the first place, I certainly was not going to do so at this point. They told me that there was nothing they could do unless I provided this information to them.

I then called Chase, who said until the charges were posted and not pending, I could not dispute them. They recommended I call back if/when the charges were posted. On Monday, March 12, I checked my bank account and those pending $1.00 charges were no longer there. On Tuesday, March 13, I checked my bank account and there were two posted charges from Experian. One was for $14.95 and the other was for $19.95. On the transaction line, it stated they originated on 3/9 and 3/11. I called Chase, who confirmed the charges indeed originated with my debit card number, and I filed a claim to dispute said charges. Chase cancelled my debit card and a new one is being issued and sent to me via US mail. In the meantime, I have done some online research and found there are countless cases of this exact same scenario happening to people. They find the charges on their account, though they have never been in contact with Experian or any company in general in order to run their credit score.

There were a handful of people who said they had gone to freecreditreport.com and given their CC information and did not realize the fine print indicated they would be charged monthly unless they unsubscribed to their services. However, the vast majority of the complainants are individuals like me who have had no contact with any type of credit report company, have not requested a credit report ever, and certainly did not contact any company to do. These people, when they provide their debit/credit card number to Experian, are told that so-and-so first name or so-and-so last initial used their card to run a credit report for themselves and they can do nothing but refund the money. Now, you tell me. Someone steals another's credit card/debit card info and they use that information not to go on a spending spree or pay bills, but they use it to check their credit and that's it?

This is straight up fraud. Experian is pretending others are using your debit card information to check their credit and have even gone so far as to say maybe the person checking his/her credit has a similar bank card number and accidentally entered yours. Apparently, they think the general public is idiotic when they claim these made-up "people" used your debit/credit card information to get their own credit check. Their name was different than your name on your card. And to top it off, no one at Experian required the CVV number on the back. Sounds plausible, right? Sure. Anyway, this is definitely a matter that needs to be investigated. I have no idea where it should start, but this has fraud written all over it. I would be glad to provide a copy of my bank statement if necessary. As I have found online, I am sure there are others that would be willing to do the same. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I was contacted by the Los Angeles branch a few days later and the liaison asked for my name, the business name that charged my account (both FreeCreditReport.com as well as Experian in the amounts of $19.95 and $14.95), and my CC number. The next day, with the help of the BBB, my money was refunded and I had my $100+ returned to me. Apparently, somebody at Experian does care about making itself look somewhat respectable, although I still contend that Experian is a scam.

This resulted in me being persuaded to keep the account and they dropped the rate to around $10. Recently, the rate jumped up to $17 and change on my credit card statement.

I called today to cancel my account which I hadn't accessed in months. The first time I called, she said I should look at the substantial change to my report and was told she would email me my login information. That never happened. I was also told on this conversation that I could end my membership online after I viewed my report. There is no way to do that, I looked all over my account and then went to the FAQ section, and the only way to cancel a membership is to call the number, which I did.

I called again today, had my log in information emailed, looked at my information and my score changed about 3 points. Huge change! I called again (3rd time today) and was told to "relax" when I told him the run around I had been getting all day. I said I wanted to end my membership. He tried repeatedly to get me to change my mind, using scare tactics and pressuring me to keep my account open. I called Experian thinking possibly they are mailing the score to me. Wrong! The 1st call was a run around of questions and confusion then a "Let me put you on hold" after a minute the phone goes dead. I called back 2nd time with basically the same experience. I was told my score was supposed to be seen as soon as I paid the night I requested it. It was not! Then I had to sign-in again with another card to view the score and was told I will have credit monitoring for a week and I will have to cancel it within that time frame in order not to be charges.

I requested that the account be cancelled immediately and asked for an e-mail confirmation. I never received it. I called & e-mailed again. Marnee responded that "my request could not be handled via e-mail" and instructed me to call the number I'd been calling the last few days.

My request was to cancel the account. This is so much for your annual "free" credit report. If you want your score, go to one of the other agencies.

First off, as a recent Air Force veteran, I am ashamed that I fought for the rights of the people of Experian, who are clearly engaging in fraud and deception at the highest levels, blatantly stealing money from ordinary citizens of this country, which I consider to be un-American. That said, like so many others on this board, I signed up for a free seven-day trial to monitor my credit report via CreditReport.com (owned by Experian). I canceled the same night (after finding out they apparently "didn't have enough information" to deliver my report) and upon closer scrutiny, I have been charged $19.95 for the last two months. I keep close tabs on my finances as well as my memory's braincells, and I know for a fact I canceled within my "free" trial period.

After discovering this unauthorized/fraudulent charge, I tried logging in through creditreport.com, as well as other Experian websites. And whaddyaknow again! - the website says they have no record of my account. Unbelievable. I cannot speak to a human at Experian until to tomorrow and will update you with my results after I not only close my account (that may or may not exist), but also demand charges be reversed. But, judging from what others wrote, there's not going to be a pleasant conclusion.

I don't understand how this company is still in business, a company that is nothing more than a street criminal clothed in a Wall Street suit. I sympathize with the others on this board and encourage others who have been scammed to file/voice complaints through all possible avenues (their Facebook page, the BBB, FTC, Congressmen/women, etc. ) as I am doing right now. This is madness.

I spoke to a young man who could not even tell me why the one charge was made. Their website said I would not be charged more than a dollar until after the 7-day trial period.

I was on the phone for 20 minutes and repeatedly asked to speak to a supervisor and I was ignored. I believe, by law, I'm allowed one free credit report from all 3 credit agencies per year, instead I've been overcharged $69.90 which was never authorized. Their website was misleading and if I knew they were going to charge me over $70.00 for something that should be free, I would have never supplied my debit card information to this company. I would like the money credited back to my account because I did not authorize this company to fraudently deduct $69.90 from my account.

As with many other complainants, I found charges on my credit card from creditreport.com (which appears to be owned by Experian) despite me not ever having signed up for or even heard of their service. I believe the problem is that they have very lax verification procedures for credit cards when people sign up for accounts. They do not verify that the name, address, phone number or CVC of the entered credit card actually match the information provided by the person who signs up for an account. Obviously, this is known about in criminal circles. Scammers know they can simply enter any valid credit card number when opening a creditreport.com account. I don't know if they do this simply to get the creditreport.com service without paying for it or if it provides some kind of avenue by which they can then exert more control over the card.

I am following up on my complaint posted on 10/15/2011.

I received a one page letter/notification on Saturday, 10/22/2011, from Experian, stating, "We are unable to honor your request because you did not provide sufficient identification information for us to verify your identify. For instant and secure access to your free credit report, visit www.annualcreditreport.com."

First of all, as far as I know, I supplied all the information they asked for via the phone number given on AnnualCreditReport.com site, but since this correspondence said to go to the www.annualcreditreport.com site, again, I thought I would give it another try as well as dig out old credit reports from Experian, in case maybe they were asking identification questions that were on those reports that I answered incorrectly the first time around. But, this time, when I tried to get report from the AnnualCreditReport.com site, a note came up that they could process my request and to call a phone number for Experian, which directed me to go to experian.com/now, if I wanted immediate access to my credit report from them. Otherwise, the phone prompts seemed to not really give any information as how to get their report free, but a number of times mentioned that one could pay for a report.

Anyhow, I went to experian.com/now site to see if I could now finally get a copy of my free Experian credit report, and this site of course wants a person to sign up for their 7-day trial membership in Experian Credit Tracker service at $1 for such service for their credit report and credit score. I might have done so, but having already read other complaints here, I was leery of having to go through a lot of trouble to get them not to charge me on a monthly basis as I really am not interested in this service at this time. In the letter/notification they sent to me, they gave me instructions on how to write my report to them, but as I was only trying to get one to monitor it as it has been a couple of years, I am not going to bother because I already have spent too much time jumping through hoops with these people.

Unfortunately, through my experience and what I have read in the complaints, it seems as though Experian is making it difficult for us to get our free credit report in order to bilk money out of us. As I said with the first complaint, I did not have any issues with getting my other 2 reports, and to me, there seems to be something amiss here. This time around, I left the box unchecked for "I do not want an attorney to call me about my complaint" because if it is found out that Experian is involved in defrauding behavior concerning this matter, I would be happy to relate my experience with an attorney.

Meanwhile, I will just figure that I did something wrong when trying to get my online report from the www.annualcreditreport.com site and that my one free report for the year has been used up and I will try again next year. The strange thing is, the letter I received today does not state such, and actually says I can write to them to get my report. Therefore, it just seems to me that something shady is going on here, but what do I know? Good luck to those really needing to check up on their credit reports.

I cannot get through to cancel the ongoing monitoring that Experian will provide for a monthly fee charged to my credit card. The phone number provided requires a number from the credit report, in which mine does not have a number! Consequently, I was not transferred to a live person. This is not a good business practice. I am very frustrated. I don't want this credit monitoring/charge. Also, Experian has me working for an employer I left 9 years ago.

We're trying to buy a house and my Experian credit score plunged almost 100 points because of this error. I've never had this problem with TransUnion and Equifax. My score with the other 2 agencies is both in the 750s, but 650s with Experian. Wow. Experian should really change their name-based system. Many people share names with family members. Simply saying that their system is name-based and the combining of the credit information of 2 people with the same name cannot be prevented from happening (this is exactly what the rep told me when I was disputing my mom's credit information) is such a lame excuse. This ** error in their system has just set us back another 6 months. Thanks for nothing Experian.

But after answering the identity verification questions, the next page that came up was an "unable to honor request" page which included dollar amounts to purchase the report and/or receive credit report overnight. It seemed like an attempt to get money out of someone for supposedly free credit report. Maybe I answered their vague security questions incorrectly, but had no trouble with other 2 credit reports. Anyhow, I went ahead and called the phone number given on AnnualCreditReport.com site and ordered my "free" credit report from Experian via that method. We will see.

I needed it in order for me to send them my disputes in writing. For over 4 hours, I tried to get their mailing address and all I got was runarounds and very rude agents on the line. I wasted all my time because after I got a hold of a supervisor, apparently frustrated with my persistence, he told me directly that I needed to spend the $14.95 on their website in order for me to resolve or dispute any information no matter what, or otherwise they will keep my incorrect information on my credit report. I already had the credit report but he didn't care and wanted me to pay for another one. TransUnion and Equifax were a complete different story. All their contact information was published on their websites and a lot more places all over the internet, even phone numbers.

I refuse to pay for something I am even entitled to by law according to the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Even under the annualcreditreport.com, Experian's mailing address has been removed and instead there is a link for you to go to their freecreditreport.com website and sign up. Is there anyone regulating ** like this? At the time, we understood that we could temporarily lift the freeze when applying for loans. We are now attempting to refinance our mortgage. We have made repeated attempts to unfreeze our Experian report using their online tool. But after going through the process of filling out all of the information requested, we get a screen saying that the only way to unfreeze the account is by sending confidential identity information (which we were trying to protect) and money through the US mail. They do not provide any way to contact "customer service" to determine why we can't use their online tool.

In fact, there is no information about how to contact a human representative for their company on their web site. They also don't provide any information about how and when they would let us know that the account is unlocked once they receive all of the paperwork they require. I suspect that, although they claim that you can easily unlock your credit report online, their website is not set up to collect their fee for unlocking your report (although you can certainly purchase their credit report/protection products online). Both Equifax and TransUnion make it possible to charge their unlock fee to a credit card. No fuss, no muss.

Credit bureau Experian advises me that their procedure is to classify 30 year amortization fixed rate home equity loans as INSTALLMENT LOANS, not as REAL ESTATE LOANS, as logic would suggest.

As a result, when a bank orders a report on a consumer with a home financed via a home equity loan, that consumer's credit report will show zero in REAL ESTATE LOANS, and will be grossly overstated in INSTALLMENT LOANS.

As installment loans are the classification of term loans used to finance consumer goods of middle life expectancy (up to five years ) those loans are expected to extend five years or less. Prudent lending calls for installment loans to be half or less of gross family income.

A home loan is logically categorized under real estate loans. As a well maintained home can be expected to have a usable life far beyond 30 years, at the end of a 30 year loan, one would have a valuable asset free of debt. Of significant value is the fact that while the family is paying for the home, it provides shelter for them, thus sparing them the expense of payning rent as a family who was not buying a home would have to do to have shelter.

Experian's process cascades into the banker's ratios showing an out-of-reason installment loan to gross household income ratio, while the real esate loan to gross household income shows to be zero.

This ratio imbalance results in the banker either refusing to raise credit limits and it may well force the family with impeccable payment history to agree to a loan with far higher interest rates than its repayment history warrants.

But now I see that they have been accessing all of my reports. I also told that supervisor in customer service that it looks suspicious that this company is accessing my credit report and taking student loan information and including it on the Innovis report after the loan was correctly updated.

It appears that they are taking, buying this information, and trying to collect on them. However, I can't say that with a fact. But I have seen other complaints by consumers stating that this company and student loans are showing up on their report in the recent past. Now it appears that Consumerinfo.com is CSFLC or affiliated with them. I feel that they should be highly scrutinized and that their business practices could be suspect. Consumers should be aware. I would contact all the credit bureaus and complain about this company having access to your credit report, especially since their contact information is incorrect or outdated or nonexistent.

This is more than emotionally draining. I purchased a condominium unit, and I could have received a better interest rate. I sent them a "State of Indiana" Department of Revenue letter from the Indiana Government Center North located at 100 N. Senate Avenue in Indianapolis, Indiana. It states that I paid off that particular debt in 1992 and then because it took a second time to pay the state of Indiana off for the same darn bill, there is a second payoff in 1994 for the same state tax bill that is listed on my Experian credit report.

The state of Indiana finally admitted that they were wrong in the fact that I hadn't paid the debt in 1992 but refused to give me back the second "payoff" of 1994, stating that they don't do that! So, not only did I get hosed by the State of Indiana, now my credit is being hosed by Experian. I sent the letter from John **, Commissioner - Indiana Department of Revenue, but Experian stated that the letter isn't proof of satisfaction of the debt and so it will not be removed from my credit report, not to mention that the debt is 18 years old! I was trying to avoid any promotions and I specifically attempted not to sign up with anything to do with FreeCreditReport.com because of items I've read about their deceptive practices.

I noticed charges from my bank account recently from that company, FCR.com, regularly taken out monthly $14.95, $44.85 total. I contacted the company and after an irritating 30 minutes on the phone with Bryan, the representative, I was not allowed to speak with anyone else in authority regarding my situation. He would not give me the name of his supervisor/manager. He said he was speaking with and directly denied me to speak with him/her. He did say they would refund $29.90 and cancel the service. He advised me he could do no more.

I was still charged $14.95. After calling back and speaking with another phone rep, Jake, about the original offer time frame. I asked about the customers access to the managers or direct supervisors and was told essentially that they pick and choose who gets to speak with one of them and I was not selected. I went to the Experian web site to purchase the credit reports and scores for my wife and myself. At the top of the home page in a large font it says "What's your credit score? Find out now for $1." Then it says in a red box "Limited Time Offer! Get your Experian Credit Score and Report for $1!" There is then a button to click that says "Get your credit report and score." I clicked on this button, filled out a few pages of information and purchase the reports for myself. I purchased a three bureau report for myself which was an additional 24.95.

For my wife, I just bought the 1 score for a dollar. When I checked my credit card statement this week, there were 2 additional charges of 14.95 each on my credit card from freecreditreport.com. I did not conduct any business with freecreditreport.com. So I called Experian, however I was not able to get through to a person. Their system will not let you talk to a person unless you have a report number. I did not have my report number so I could not contact anyone. I went through my email and found the receipt from when I purchased the credit scores and there was a different number on there. I called that number and found out that Experian, without any notice to the user, gives your business to freecreditreport.com.

When you purchase the credit report from the Experian web site, they actually turn the purchase over to freecreditreport.com without notifying the customer though the entire time the URL still says Experian. Freecreditreport.com then signs you up for credit monitoring for 14.95 a month even though you started out just purchasing your credit report for $1. I asked the person on the phone from freecreditreport.com when they tell you this on the web site. He said it is on the home page of Experian. I went to the home page with him on the phone. He said I had to scroll down and look on the left. As you can see, the home page of Experian had the large font at the top as I stated earlier advertising purchasing your report for only $1. The rest of the site has black text with a white background. If you scroll down a little there is a blue box with blue font that mentions that you are being signed up for credit monitoring. It is obvious they are intentionally trying to hide this text.

Here are my issues with this:
    1. Experian is passing their customers to another company without telling them and you give your personal information to this company.
    2. They are not selling you your credit report for $1 as the web site states. They are selling you a 14.95 monthly membership and by buying that they are giving you your credit report for $1. But that is not what the add says. It is a trick. They know consumers do not want that so they bait and switch it. There is nothing transparent about this membership purchase.

    3. When I called, they refused to refund my money. I had to scream and yell and threaten file a complaint and then they complied.I still filed a complaint with the FTC because this is clearly a scam to get people to purchase a membership they do not want. And Experian needs to become transparent about pushing their customers to freecreditreport.com and that they are buying a membership and not a credit report.

Over the course of 7 months, my credit score has increased to 711 and decreased to 659 about three times. Back and forth, etc. An old student loan that was inaccurate kept appearing and disappearing from my report. My comments from March of 2010 have pretty much remained the same. My score keeps improving and getting worse such that I have had to sign up for constant monitoring of my credit score to ensure that this stops.

Paying $14.95 in monthly debits from my card have not helped me and is an expensive price to pay to keep my credit in good standing. It doesn't change the fact that I continue to have to deal with things that were once removed and are put back on my report at any moment's notice. This is extremely frustrating. In addition, when I thought I was purchasing a one-month report, I found out the website had placed the purchase button for the 3 score report in front of the one-month report and I ended up being charged $24.95. This happened several times this year.

Since I complained here on this website, my account is now on "Special Status" at Experian and every time I call them, the customer service representatives refuse to speak with me and I get immediately transferred to a special person who has been designated to handle my account. In many cases I get a voicemail. This is unbelievable. Wall Street shareholders who own Capital One, HSBC etc., who charge consumers 30% interest rates for bad credit scores, are obviously benefiting from these inaccuracies. We, the consumers are the prey for their financial shenanigans.

I suggest we contact Elizabeth Warren at the White House who is now in charge of consumer affairs and heading up US financial services reform. I think she would be very interested in hearing the plight of all of the people who have written on this board.

Example: real estate mortgage which is still being paid for since 2005 is being reported as "discharged thru bankruptcy" this being one of the most damaging items to anyone's credit report.

Another example, we have moved to Las Vegas in 2005 and today they were still having my NYC address in their database as "current address," while my husband's last employer appears the one in NYC, after 5 years of working in Las Vegas. I went to Experian to get my report after I was declined for a pre-approved credit card. I did not want a free one as I was entitled after the credit rejection. I was willing to pay the $10.00 for the report, but I could not get the report because they said online that I was enrolled in credit alerts with them, this credit alert I tried and canceled with them 2 years ago. I try and call them and got the same thing others here have gotten. I could not get a customer service rep unless I had a credit report number from them.

So, I want back online and did some research to get a free report from them since I was in the first 60 days since my report check and declined credit, and what I found was interesting, and was all ready brought against Experian in 2005 by the Fed's for misleading and deceptive practices on their website.

If you would like immediate online access to your Experian credit report and score for only $14.95, order now, which I could not get any way because of something they still had me on that I canceled 2 years ago. Another thing, my credit score with Experian also drops mysteriously even though I am never late, my balances get paid off, and no negative information has gotten on my report in years and while Equifax and Transunion keep going up.

The other mysterious thing I have been noticing is that when I apply for a credit card, it is being check now primarily from Experian and Equifax, when before it was check primarily with Transunion. Experian and Equifax, I heard, are now in bed together. Lastly, I subscribe to Life Lock, a great ID protection agency. Well, a few months ago I found out that Experian took Life Lock to court and Experian won, presumably because of who they paid and paid off. Then, I see a commercial for Experian offering services just like Life Lock. Experian just spent the money and took Life Lock to court just to level the marketing playing field and I lost a service for Life Lock which I really liked.

This company stinks and stinks bad. In 2005, they already had been sued for deceptive practices. The irregular nature in which they report is criminal and they need to be shut down once and for all.

I called to suspend credit freeze. I provided all required information PIN, Birth Date, SSN, etc. I provided my credit card number to pay for the temporary suspension. Everything appeared to go as expected except my credit freeze was not suspended. I attempted to contact, but was required to have a current Report Number no older than 90 days old. The only way to have one of those? Pay for a credit report! I am unable to obtain credit check to get store credit card. Experian is the only credit agency they can check with!

My credit score dropped from 768 to 748. When I contacted Experian, they said they did not know why and wouldd call me back with an explanation. To this day, no one has told me why my score went down.

As a multitude of other consumer have complained of, they will not provide me a free copy of my credit report. They advised I must pay the $24.95, then I will also be automatically signed up for Triple Advantage membership each month for a fee of $14.95. You are unable to speak with anybody with Experian unless you have a "paid" report number. Unable to ascertain if my credit is at jeopardy or if any fraudulent activity is taking place, unless I pay their continuous monthly fees! Total scam artists.

Yes, I got online and only wanted to check my credit reports out, not the credit score. I got charged on my VISA debit card for $24.95 and these people will not give me my money back. Then, they said they used on my husband. He used it but only was charged a dollar so they scam people. I like to have my money back. They are refusing to get a hold or fax the VISA debit company and so there was an error. I swear I will sue if I have to in my state and county. The courts here don't play. They will get sued for this, looking at a possible felony on this one on their part. It depends on what the judge will do and this is not the only company that has done that I will file another. But this is ridiculous on their part. It's supposed to be free, not pay $25.00 to check a simple credit report.

On 4/08/10 I ordered the 3 in1 credit report from Experian for $24.95, a one-time payment, and had it billed to my credit card. Nine days later I was billed another $14.95 by Experian. I called my credit card company to question the charge and explained to them that I did order the initial credit report but did not agree to anything that justified the second charge. They advised me to call Experian to first try to resolve this matter.

Taking their advice I spoke with a rep. from Experian. She told me that the 3 in 1 report did not include Experian’s report but only Trans-union and Equifax, that in order to include Experian I was signed up for a "free" 7-day membership that if not canceled by the 7th day a $14.95 charge would post to the credit card I used. I explained to her that at no time during the ordering process did I read or agree to anything of the sort that I believe this to be a misleading and fraudulent. She continuously apologized only to follow it up with a "sorry we can't refund." I then told her to cancel my "membership."

She agreed but said that she still could not refund the $14.95 that instead they would give me 3 "free" months of membership then cancel. I replied with this, "No you will cancel me now and refund my money because my next call will be to the fraud and security dept. of my credit card company.” Without skipping a beat she said, “Ok, sir, we will refund the $14.95 to your account.” In total disbelief I paused and then asked her why just a minute ago did you tell me that refunds can’t be made but now all the sudden you can? She told me that it was because I was getting irate. Not once did I yell or swear although I certainly was frustrated. I suggested she go back, listen to the recording and see if she could tell the difference between the two. I'm sick of big business treating people as if were at there mercy and even more so when they get away with it. Talk about organized crime.

I am extremely suspicious that my Experian score dropped by 60 points because I stopped payment for the FreeCreditReport.com service which is owned and operated by Experian. I was using the FreeCreditReport.com service, and I was paying the $14.95 per month fee, and my Experian credit score, the one included with the subscription, was 738.

It remained there within a point or two of that for about 6 months. Then I cancelled the service three months ago. Since then I have had no new credit inquiries, no late payments, nothing has really changed except for my installment based lines going down due to payments. But when I got my three credit scores from a competing site, my Experian credit score was down to 678. A review of the credit report showed no late payments, new inquiries, or anything else weird going on.
