I put a freeze on my credit for fraud prevention. I am currently working with Bank of America to secure a home loan and need to unfreeze the Experian credit freeze. This is is turning into a nightmare. I requested a 30 day unfreeze online, nothing has changed. I can't get financing until this is cleared. The software the broker is using doesn't have an option to enter a PIN (temporary, one time use PIN to access the credit information) I'm contacting Experian to find out what is going on is futile. I am almost to the point where I just want to drive to their office in Costa Mesa and maybe can actually get someone to help. If a company offers a service, they had better ** well offer support. I am just saying. This is ridiculous.

I have two items on my credit report that I have provided proof that they are in error. The creditors wrote Experian letters explaining that they are in error. I have called Experian four different times and mailed them the proof and creditors’ letters three times. I have been trying to call them again and I'm placed oh hold for 20 minutes each. Experian is refusing to discuss the issue with me. This is having a negative impact on my credit report and is preventing me from obtaining a student loan for my daughter’s.

I am a victim of fraud, my SSI number was stolen and they took it to Indiana (where I have never lived). What I am unable to clean up is the record on Experian of public record of county tax lien. The county of origin released them last May; the other reporting agencies removed them. I spoke with Experian today and they stated I need a letter from a court stating they are fraud, before they will remove them my records. Whatever your organization can do is much appreciated. Thank you very much. My credit score is 50 points less with Experian and I am trying to clean up the fraud.

I had just found out that somewhere in MN, my federal student loan information had been stolen and that I was required to login to the Experian website for a "free" 12 month trial. To my astonishment, the website was advising me of entering credit card information and a charge. Reading this website has only furthered my concerns about not calling and dealing with this non-sense. To all those that have had a hard time reaching Experian, the letter did do one thing, it gave us a phone number to reach a representative.

I wanted to retrieve a credit report from Experian in order to enter a dispute with the inaccuracies in my 3-in-1 credit report. Both Equifax and TransUnion have already resolved the disputes and corrected the inaccuracies, at no charge. Experian charges $1 plus $14.95 a month for credit monitoring if you don't cancel within 7 days. My hunch is right when I googled Experian and found this complaint site here. I will not pursue paying Experian $1 just to get the credit report. I plan to take this matter to the Feds and go from there.

I had a credit score of 727 as of March 15, 2010. Less than a week later, I checked my credit score again and it was now 589. Four items that had previously been removed are now back on my report. I went around and around with Experian and they said even though some scores had not been updated since 2008, they still believed them to be valid. I knew them all to be removed as of 4/2008. They maintained these were my late marks. I spent countless hours getting this information removed. Now, I have to start from the beginning again. Experian is not to be trusted.

I attempted to order a credit score from Experian along with my free annual credit report. Twice I put in my credit card number and was directed to a page to answer 4 questions which I answered and then received the screen saying the page was not found. I found a technical support number through this site (could not be found on Experian site) and they wouldn't even check to see if it was a problem with their webpage so I know what happened with my credit card information.
I have not been able to get a free credit report from Experian since 2007 because of their inept system. It is very frustrating because Experian is so inept at providing a service that they are by law required to.

On 2/2/10, I wanted my free credit report on my computer. I typed in Experian free-credit report and up popped Experian direct. I got one credit report, but they don't tell you that they are charging you $14.99 and then they keep charging it. I was charged on my credit card 2 times. I sent emails and more emails. I couldn't find their phone number. (They don't give it to you, I found it on a complaint site.) They said they would not return my money and I told them they were thieves and fraudulent in their action.
I only make from social security $880.00 and that's all I have. I rent a room, storage, gas, and not much left for food, and a credit report agency steals $30.00 from me and that food since my rent is $700.00. What can I do?

I paid Experian $1 to get a free credit report. After they had my card number, they started charging my credit card with multiple charges. Within a matter of a month, I got an email saying my credit has changed. I clicked and got charged $24.95 under info.freecreditreport. I never authorized this payment. Then I got charged ProtectMyID.com $12.95 again. I called to complain and the customer service reps at Experian were so cold. Never use Experian!
2) It has been emotionally troubling to find out that a company that prides itself in protecting your credit, in fact scams people and cheats money from you.

I ordered my "free" credit report Jan.11, 2010 from the internet site "free credit report.com". I did receive the Trans Union and Equifax report, but not the Experian. When I inquired, the site stated that it was requested and that I received it. The problem is that I never received it. I wrote to the address given and they sent 2 computer-generated letters saying that I am not entitled to "another one".
Also, the letter stated that I did not give them enough information to prove that it was me who ordered it. I sent a letter giving my particulars and no reply. All I'm requesting is that I be given a phone number to a live person so that I may truly receive my "free" credit report from Experian and stop being prompted to go to the internet, which gives me no help. Also, the internet site constantly asks a fee for a 'free' credit report, which seems ridiculous to me.
I have been trying to modify my mortgage to make it more affordable. Wachovia (1-866-290-8954) states that my credit report gives a negative review of my credit history, making it impossible to get a fair resolution. I simply need to get this straightened out so that I may proceed with a modification, or I may need some legal assistance which I simply can't afford. I am retired on a fixed monthly income. Wachovia states that they cannot help me lower the interest nor the payment at this time. I do not want to go into foreclosure. I have never missed a payment, nor have I ever been late in 10 years.

Years ago I had a fraud alert placed on my credit report (not by choice) by the 3 reporting services, Experian, Equifax and TransUnion. It has now become impossible for me to get a credit card because the services (mainly Experian) will not allow the companies to access my information. Some companies just asked me some personal questions to confirm my personal information and bypass this roadblock. However, banks (like Chase) presently stop the application process as soon as they run into the credit access block.
As a result I decided to remove the credit card fraud alert from my account. TransUnion did it expeditiously on the phone and it was done. Equifax asked for a form with personal information on it. Two weeks after I submitted what they asked for, I called and asked about my request status. They added another request which was for a copy of my SS number. They then told me it would be over a month after they received the SS number before they could remove the fraud alert. Excessive time in my opinion, considering TransUnion could do it immediately.
But the biggest problem of all has been with Experian. Their phone system will not allow you to talk to anyone unless you request a credit report first and then have a number they can reference. Of course, you need to give them a credit card number for them to keep in case you forget about the 7-day free credit report trial. After that you are automatically billed each month for $14.95. What a scam. I only want to remove the fraud alert which can be done very easily. Reading complaints about Experian on the Internet is enough to convince me to never give these people my credit card number. Ironic, isn't it?
According to the complaints, it seems they keep billing you and will not stop until you eventually need to seek legal help to stop this from continuing. I am not going on that list no matter what. So, my predicament is this. I just want Experian to remove the fraud alert, but by doing so, may expose myself to Experian fraud, something I won't do. My credit card application is in limbo with Chase because they cannot access the necessary information to complete the process. This will happen with any credit card I try to signup for if Experian is the credit service. Help.

As stated by another party, the automated system requires a report number, which is not included on my report anywhere I can find. I have been unable cancel as of yet, so they plan to charge me $24.95, $14 plus a month to monitor, and God only knows what else is included in this scam. We have been attempting to refinance and cannot get approved because Experian cannot resolve this issue. The 3rd party agencies that mortgage companies use to pull your credit cannot get my report from Experian. Experian has provided me with a letter stating that my credit is not frozen. There are calls where they gladly take your money from you, never receive what you paid for. I am no attorney but think it is illegal to take money for something that is never delivered.
There are calls where you are talked "down to" by the person on the other line. Generally they are from another country and have no idea of what you are speaking about. Today I called for the fourth time and was asked my credit card number so they could charge me again (for the fourth time in 2 months) have now had it. This company is a deplorable. Yet banks and lending institutions go by your score from these bunch of buffoons? What kind of people are these folks?
We are the people. As We the people, we also have rights. Our government has given these 3 major reporting companies entirely too much power. They have the power in their hands to destroy a person's life and they will not hesitate to do it. We the people, this is our credit and we the people should have the right to know who "taps" into our credit account for information. We the people should be able to access and view our account without having to pay monthly, weekly or even one time charges each time. The scumbags who view your/mine and ours credit (at no charge) know more information about our credit than we who own it do. We the people should not have to "question/interrogate and prove than the negative complaint on our credit record is not ours.
The business who put the negative account on our record in the first place should have to prove accountability for their actions and should be reprimanded for erroneous actions that provide disastrous consequences to one's credit. The way it now is we have to prove the account does not belong to us. Why? The only thing that happens is the scumbag company comes back and tells the credit bureau that the account is legitimate and it goes back on your record for 2-4-6-8 years. The credit bureau takes their word for the illegitimate debt. Not your word! It's your credit!! You should have the right for the erroneous and illegitimate debt/charge not to go on your credit report in the first place!
The 2-year illegitimate account is then sold after 2 years to another scumbag who turns the same account in as new (that has been on your account for 2 years already) and so forth and so forth. There is one illegitimate account that has been on our credit bureau file at Equifax for the past 16 years. The same bill. As soon as we protested, the account was sold to another scumbag who turned it in as new. On and on it goes. Most all these credit and collection scumbags work under more than one name.
They have several names to where as soon as you protest one account under that name, they change over to one of their other bogus agency names. One of the best scams is the ones where the scumbag attorney (who most likely has lost his license in your state or not licensed in your state) sends his demand letter so his letter will present fear and make people pay and it works sometimes. I urge you to look up this so-called attorney to see if they are licensed in your state and/or/if which state their license has been revoked.
Almost every constitutional right you were sworn to have is violated by this credit bureau along with the other two bureaus. They, the 3 major credit reporting bureaus are, by allowing a listing of an illegitimate charge against you and allowing unwarranted searches of your personal credit history, are not allowing you due process to prove you do not owe the illegitimate charge, therefore not allowing you due process. Your credit report is your personal file and shall not be taken for public use.
People wonder why they cannot obtain loans and when they see their credit and find unauthorized issues they never knew was there. From then on, they are scammed, conned, robbed and lied to.
Face the fact folks: Credit bureaus (TransUnion, Experian, Equifax (CSC) make more money off bad credit than they do off good credit. It is in their best interest to keep people's credit bad. That is their motive. Pure greed! Until we can get the federal government to enforce the laws, they made and/or until we can get our federal laws changed to help us. We will see it get worse unless there are people who are willing to stand up, fight against them and change the way they do their shady business!
Stand up and fight! Do not allow TransUnion, Equifax or Experian to continue to destroy and damage your reputation and character. They have to be stopped!

I printed out a free credit report, but it did not have a report number on it. I called their main telephone number at 888-397-3742. It is an automated system. I wanted to file a dispute using their automated system but it asked for a report number which I did not have. Since I did not have a credit report number, I could not file a dispute. The same thing happens when trying to file a dispute online via their website Expedia.com. I did an online search for any other telephone numbers that I could call to speak with an actual person instead of a computer. I found their technical support line at 800-854-7201. The person told me that since my question was about my personal credit report, I would have to call the main telephone number. I told him that I needed a credit report number in order to file a dispute over the telephone.
He understood my predicament but said that there is nothing that he can do about it. He told me to leave a voice message by calling the main number. I asked him how to get to the voice mail system. He tried to access it himself but could not find it, and he is from technical support. If technical support cannot find it, how do you expect customers to find it? He said that he has already received a handful of calls regarding this same issue. In other words, some people have received credit report numbers while others have not.
I told him that there must be some type of bug on the online system. He said that their technical support service is not connected to the technical support service overseeing the main telephone number voice operating system or even the main website. I told him that this does not make any sense and he agreed. What is the point of having a technical support service that is not connected to everything? How can they help anybody? It truly does not make any sense.
I left them my contact information, and hopefully, I will hear from them soon. From my experience with this company so far, there needs to be a complete overhaul of their customer and technical support services. The problem is that this company is a bureaucracy that has little if any interest in providing better services to its clients. Since there are only three major credit bureaus in the United States, there is hardly any competition out there. That is why if feel that the government needs to step in in order to make sure that they are providing fair and prompt services to their clients. Otherwise, this will go on forever. Thank you.

I recently checked my debit card bank statements, which I should have been checking for over a year, and noticed a charge of $14.95 that was happening once per month for over a year now. I did a search online and found out that it was Experian Direct (there are hundreds of complaints about this online). I went to my bank & asked to block the transaction. They told me it cannot be blocked, because the company was charging it through my ATM Debit card and not through the account itself. I had to cancel my card and re-issue a new checking account.
I have never signed up for a subscription & never went online for a free credit report ever. I sent an email out today to Experian & got an automated email back saying to refer to their FAQ page. I have no idea how they got access to my account information. The complaints online all said that the number itself doesn't work. Under both the Bank of America Privacy Assist product and Experian's 3n1 product my credit score is reported anywhere from 10 to 100+ points above what the lenders I've approached for a mortgage are receiving. These products as well as every other credit monitoring report product advertises. I cannot get a mortgage because of (1) low credit score--at least the one the lenders see and (2) too many inquiries. Well, duh, how else can I get an accurate score? I entered into a contract to purchase a house in November based on the BoA Privacy Assist scores and they will not give me a mortgage and I've been banking with them for years.
All my debts were paid off in April of 2009 including a credit card with them. Yes, there were delinquencies and some medical collections, all taken care of and never to be repeated. Any bank I approach says they cannot use the report from BoA Privacy Assist but must make their own inquiry. Another hit on ye old inquiry tally and a ding on the score. I am trying to build a record as I really think the industry is either lying/falsely advertising their products and/or are discriminating against low-middle income people through false credit scores.

I ordered a credit report in 08/2009. I agreed to pay a one-time fee. Since that month, I have been charged monthly $14.95 for credit monitoring. I called back and talked to Experian representative and manager. They explained to me what happened and how I got charged $14.95 monthly. According to their explanations, in order to get a credit report, a consumer has to agree to a Triple Advantage credit monitoring. I recalled that these information were not clear at the time I ordered my credit report, otherwise I would not order the service.
I lost $14.95 x 4 for the service that I did not know about or agreed upon. The agent at Experian also offer to refund only one month as courtesy. My reasoning is if they admitted to their wrong doing for 1 month, then why not 4 months. They said it's the company policy. I have been disputing fraudulent information Experian has been reporting for two years. Each time they send me a simple sheet of paper, which states they have found the information provided by the companies claiming I owe them money to be factual, yet Experian provided no data on this proving how they arrived at their conclusion. I have requested documentation proving these are my accounts, which they have never sent me. After getting nowhere with this company, I hired an agency to deal with Experian directly.
Today I received a letter from Experian stating they believe this company that is speaking for me is fraudulent and they will not dispute anything my agent request. Experian then went on to say that if I disagree, I can call them yet they give no phone number in which to call. They also give the option to visit their website to dispute Experian's findings, yet I need a report number to even get on their site which they did not supply me with. Once I find my way around through an alternative route, I find the contact us page. In that area there is a page full of different numbers, different people to contact for different reasons but no real direction on how to contact customer service. I called one number and it took me 5 minutes of pushing different numbers to get to the recording that stated the office was closed.

Several months after I ordered the credit agencies to freeze my credit report, I received a letter dated Nov. 22, 2009, from Experian Inc., saying: "In accordance with state legislation and pursuant to your request to have a security freeze placed on your Experian Credit Report, we are required to notify you that within the last 30 days, changes to your name, address or Social Security Number have been posted to your account." Later in the letter, they said I would need to have my "unique Experian password" available if I called to learn more about the letter.
Because this statement is ambiguous, i.e., I don't know whether they're notifying me of their requirements or that my name, address, SS number, etc. have actually been tampered with. Fearful that it is the latter, I've tried to call Experian's general tel. number (1877-397-37) as well as the number they gave in the letter they sent me (1-877-222-0011) but have been unable to reach anyone. I have never changed my name or Social Security number and have not changed my address since I requested the freeze. A recorded voice offered me the chance to "order a copy" of my personal credit report.
As so many others have written, it has been impossible to find anyone at Experian who will describe what if anything has happened to my account. The representative I spoke to on the phone said that the 1910 was obviously a typo, and they would investigate the rest. No wonder my credit rating is bad.

I had to pay for my credit report that was supposed to be free and it's full of errors. My name isn't on the report, so it might not be mine. However, there is enough information on it to convince me it's mine. They report to the world that I worked for Beatrice Development. That's funny because I never heard of this place. It goes on to say I'm retired. I'm 53 years old, how can I possibly retire? Do they know something I don't? I do know that I have owned my home for 18 years. That's not mentioned in the report. They only report my debts, not my assets. How do you get credit without any assets? I have paid my debts for 35 years and I pay them before the due date. They don't verify the facts before they put them in writing. Isn't that called libel? It was when I grew up. Someone isn't doing their job, but they're collecting a paycheck.

I never knowingly joined anything - I knew I was entitled to one free report per year and did not want any more information. Before I noticed it on my account, they had taken $98.85 since 7/2009 and had never contacted me with any services. I wanted to find out why Experian deducted points from my credit score for inquiring into mortgages with various companies. I looked at 5 possible mortgage companies last year. This year I can't even get a store card because they hammered my score so badly. I have never done anything to warrant being discriminated against in this way. I looked at the process and it occurred to me that Experian has no legal right to count inquiries as a reason to deduct points from someone's credit score. This practice prevents people from finding the best deals, and if they do it, they will not be told by Experian that this has been done until they apply for credit.
E.g. Buy a home, live in it, find the roof leaks and needs fixing, apply for a short term loan for the money to fix the problem, get slammed by the banks! This is a discriminatory practice and Jason ** will not pass my request onto the Board of Directors at Experian to ask them to cease and desist in this practice. The Fair Credit Reporting Act does not give these credit reporting companies the right to deduct points from people's credit scores for making inquiries for credit. I put it to the people of this country that you are being discriminated against in an insidious way by Experian and you need to stand with me and bring these people to Justice. They destroy your good standing and then you end up paying more for the credit products you need to survive.
Stand up to them, support me and get the Supreme Court to decide if this practice Experian has adopted is legal. It affects you. No one at Experian is responding to my request to have this debated and ruled on in the next meeting of the Board of Directors at Experian. Even the CEO, Don Roberts' email address bounces. Finding email addresses for any of the officers is difficult, and actually pinning someone down for an answer to this crime is currently being diverted by Mr. Jason ** who refuses to pass my request to the Board of Directors.
Who are these people that run Experian that they should have more power over our lives than the government of the United States itself, and yet cannot be held accountable by the people?! They have no right to do this to any of us. Imho, this is a class action lawsuit just waiting to happen. Anyone Interested?

There are numerous incorrect personal information on my Experian Credit Report and there is no way that I can dispute and get the information corrected. Certain mails and bills are going to the incorrect addresses and therefore screwing up my credit and creating many problems for me. They provided an 800 number on my credit report to call and dispute, but after going through the whole automated process, it still does not dispute the problems. I've called their main 888 number and the same thing happens. Online does not allow me to dispute anything. I pulled my credit report this past week as I do every year. It comes up with someone else's name, social security number, DOB, addresses, and credit information. I have been fighting with Experian since 2001 to have this stuff taken off. They say it's deleted but when I try to pull another report, it comes back as someone else over and over again. This last time, Margaret from India told me that this was Experian's fault because they cross referenced my name with someone else's. I asked her if it was a crime for Experian to gleefully give other people's social security numbers to others? She wouldn't answer. She continued for two hours to go through every aspect of the 92 items that are not mine and stated that they were deleted. But they are not. So at my wit's end, I am waiting for a call from an attorney who deals with this stuff. I don't have much money. I can't get a loan because this lady that shows up on my credit has $528,000 of open credit. So as a result, I cannot even get a $200 loan for myself as I have tried in the recent past. I hope this attorney doesn't charge me an arm and a leg upfront because if he does, I can't do it.

The complaints about Experian are all true. A student loan for one of my children was rejected because they had an error in my credit records. After a half hour of wading through dozens of offers to purchase one or more of their credit report services, I finally located my free credit report (as mandated by the government). I identified the error, collected the necessary documents to correct it, and after searching all over for their mailing address, sent it to them. Their online dispute reporting option is totally inadequate for any sort of detail.
Several weeks later, I received a reply saying that it could take 45 days to correct the error, and implying that it would have gone faster if I had purchased one of their credit reporting services. Eventually they did correct the error. However, I have reason to believe they also passed my name and address along to their own junk mail distribution service, as my credit history was favorable again.

I purchased a copy of my credit VantageScore from Experian for $7.95. I called Experian to let them know that one of the factors listed that lowered my VantageScore was incorrect. They told me that it was because Citi MasterCard does not list a credit limit on my account and therefore if I have any credit spent on my card, it reflects as maxed and has for the entire time I've had my card. The truth is (which I explained to the Experian representative and confirmed with the Citicard representative as well) that I have a credit limit and a NPSL (no preset spending limit) that is reported to all three credit agencies each month.
The problem is that Experian chooses only to list this as an NPSL account. So for being an excellent credit card customer with Citi, I got demoted on my credit score with Experian? That's a catch 22 and Experian should not be able to pick and choose what it reflects, especially if one of the choices does not benefit the consumer. They do not adjust to reflect the positive aspects of all the different credit accounts out there. I'd love to see this become a new law and force the credit reporting agencies to change their working rules and regulations concerning this.

Experian is the worst ever. We are refinancing our home. Our banker pulled our credit report to find that all 3 agencies have something against us that is wrong. TransUnion even provided us a free copy of our credit report since we were refinancing and also filing a dispute with them. We already had a copy from our banker, but it was so nice of TransUnion to work with us!
But Experian? What a bunch of crap. No phone number gets you to any human being and in order to possibly speak with anyone, they are trying to force us to buy a copy of our credit report from them. We have one that's only a week old. Why should we have to buy one from them in order to correct an inaccuracy on their end? I've sent 3 emails and have been summarily ignored. Since when is it legal to blackmail people and force them to give you money? These people should be out of business at best or at least sued. And that's something we're contemplating now.

I hold 4 major credit cards, of which I have always paid on time and as of about 9-12 months ago, had a credit score of 790. Just recently, I have received letters from 3 out of the 4 credit card companies that I hold, notifying me that they are lowering my limit and changing my interest to a much higher rate. When I received the 3rd notice yesterday, I called American Express, who by the way has changed my fixed rate to a higher variable rate now. I asked the rep Tim why I was being penalized and asked him if I had ever been late with a payment. This was when I found out that Experian is responsible for all this. The rep Tim at AmEx told me that because I am now reduced to making minimum monthly payments (because my rate have now gone up so drastically), Experian feels that I am now a bad credit risk.
It's computerized slander. I have never had a problem with Equifax or TRW. I had a problem with Experian years ago because they are very slow with removing things off their records. I really feel this is unfair. I have always strove to pay my bills on time, even if it meant giving up eating to do so. My company is a small company. I have very few if any companies that send reports into Experian. I had a creditor send in a slow 30 days payment to my Experian business account in error. The error has been corrected but my business score is 43%. I can't get any credit now because of this high risk score. My company deals with companies that have no need to send in my payment timeline. I have never had a problem attaining business credit in the past. My payments are made on time, always.
On the Experian business credit report, I have 0 Bankruptcies, 0 Liens, 0 Judgements filed, 0 collections but a crappy 43% score because I don't have trades that participate. I even purchased the business credit advantage report so I can track my report and make sure everything is okay. But it's not! I feel that Experian is holding this against my company. Dun & Bradstreet have my company as a Paydex of 80. This is the highest rate possible. They had my rate lower but changed it back to the rate it was before the error filed by my creditor.
Why can't Experian do that? I feel that this is a misrepresentation of my company because of this score they have assigned my company. Because trades don't send in information to them, then my credit deserves a 43% score when it should be 100%? I don't appreciate the way they compile information. If I don't have any past due, liens, judgements, etc., then I should no way have a credit rating of 43%.
I need help in figuring out how to correct this or get my company off their list. They are hurting my business. There has to be an exception somewhere, if everything is okay and no problems are found or reported in. For the most part, anytime you get a trade reporting to them is, if there is a slow or late payment. Then, they are very quick to put it on their site. The only time you get to talk to a real human being is if you want to purchase something. Other than that, you go round and round with the phone message only to get another message. This is definitely not right. I was told they don't have a consumer complaint phone number. I wonder why?
Please help me or direct me to who can straighten this matter out or I will be out of business and won't need to worry about it any more. Thank you. I apologize for the complaint but I am extremely frustrated with lots of hours spent trying to right this 43% score but to no avail. This has taken me away from running my businesses.

I therefore called my credit card co. and disputed the payment. I wrote to Experian, included 3 forms of ID, and asked them to lift the freeze. Months later, they still had not done so. I got a phone number through another credit bureau and talked to an Experian person who said the only way to remove the freeze was to pay the $5. I wrote again to Experian and copied the BBB, my attorney general's office, and FDC. I then received a copy of notice that $5 is charged to residents of my state for removal of the security freeze.
A week later, the attorney general's office, which had written to Experian on my account, received a letter stating that nothing could be done without my SS number. Apparently, it worked for TransUnion & Equifax, but not for Experian. I tried again on May 6, then tried to permanently lift it on May 7, none of which has worked. It is impossible to reach a live person on the phone without a credit report number which I don't have. Of course, Experian has charged me $30 for the three attempts to lift the freeze. The bank says the area determines which credit reporting firm is used, and, of course, it's Experian here. So if I can't unfreeze my credit, I won't be able to get a mortgage. Time is of the essence.

I can't get an address or phone number to talk to a person with any of the credit bureaus. They have my address, names and a lot of other false information tacked on to my report. I have had at least one credit card company cut my credit because of a bad report. I can't file a police report because they want the entire number of the credit card that is charged to me. I do not have this and can't get it because it is not mine. I need help in clearing up the matter and need to talk to a human being. I purchased a used, GM Certified Chevy Tahoe in March 2009 and pulled an AutoCheck. No problems were listed in the Vehicle History Report. In April 2009, I took the vehicle in to a different Chevy dealer for service and learned that the vehicle had been in an accident. I pulled another AutoCheck Vehicle History Report and, lo and behold, there is now an accident listed that had happened five months earlier. Five months is not an acceptable amount of time to list major problems like an accident. I contacted New York (the state where the accident happened) and was informed that the information was available to anybody back in November of 2008 (five months ago). I certainly would not have purchased the vehicle if I had known it was in an accident and I certainly would not have paid what I did for a "GM Certified" vehicle. Of course, AutoCheck says that I am not eligible for "Buy Back" or even diminished value because the report should not have been "relied on" for purchasing a vehicle as is stated in their legal disclaimer.

First, go to annualcreditreport.com to print your Experian credit report, which you will need before anybody will talk to you. Then a week or so later, I got a letter saying, "Sorry for the mistake, but you will have to pay the $24.95." In 2005 my son had to go to a doctor out of town while on a family vacation. The doctor's office transposed numbers on my zip code and therefore was never able to bill me for the services (other than the co-pay I paid upfront). In 2008, the doctor's office sold the debt to NCO. NCO attempted to contact me, but did not have the correct address for me either. NCO then submitted the debt collection notice to Experian using the incorrect address and no other way to identify me (no SSN was used). Experian made the assumption that this debt notice must belong to me and put it on my credit report.
The doctor's office, NCO, and Experian all violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act because none of them ever notified me of this debt. Since this notice has been put on my credit report in January 2009, I have been turned down for a small loan with Bank of America. Wells Fargo reduced the credit limit on my home equity line of credit. American Express reduced the credit limit on two of my credit cards, I can no longer obtain new credit. My credit score has dropped from the mid-700s to the high 500s.

I am outraged, as I received a telephone call at 7:00 p.m.(10/22/08) from Brittney, who stated she works for Experian Credit Services and understands I may be looking to purchase a new home or refinance a mortgage. I told her it was none of her damn business and hung up. I checked my caller ID and the above number came up. I called it back and Brittney answered, so I asked her where she acquired any of my information and she said that Experian shares credit information with them [Jennings Enterprises]. I informed her that she just previously stated and passed herself off as working for Experian, which I believe to be fraud and I would report both her company and Experian for sharing any of my information. I told her I was recording the incident, which I did immediately in pen and ink to retain the exact time and facts of same.
I want to know if it is legal for Experian to share any credit information with a third party for SOLICITATION purposes. My understanding of the credit bureau services system is that they are to share only with potential lenders at the request of the potential borrower only. When did third-party solicitor become privy to that type of information. Also, is it considered FRAUD for Brittney to pass herself off as working for Experian? I want to know if I should file a formal complaint against both Jennings and Experian or if they were within their legal and ethical boundaries for this solicitation. Thank you for taking the time to review and comment.

When I applied through Triple Alert, I was told that my social security number did not match the number that Experian has in their databank, and therefore the protection service could not be activated. Equifax and TransUnion have the correct data. I cannot tell you how many phone numbers I have called or the number of customer service representatives I have talked to trying to correct the problem. None of them knows how to handle the situation. One suggested that I send for my free annual credit report and correct the information that way, but of course they won’t send it to me because I am supplying erroneous information - i.e. the wrong social security number. A catch 22.
Finally, I found some information online that stated I would need to send Experian a certified letter with a copy of my social security card, Connecticut state driver’s license, Medicare card, or another government issued document that contained my personal information. I sent the certified letter stating my issue, along with the personal documentation. I received confirmation that the letter had been delivered. The receipt was dated July 15, 2008. I have not heard from them since. I continue to try to activate my account with no results. I get the same answers from the service reps that I talk to. In the meantime, I am at risk of having my identity stolen due to Experian’s lack of action. I have not been able to talk directly to an Experian employee. The Experian phone numbers I have been given are completely automated - no human beings on the other end. Short of hiring a lawyer, I do not know what to do next. I had wrote a letter to the attorney general's office complaining about Experian's neglect by keeping unverified information on my credit report. I received a response from Experian about the letter I wrote to the attorney general's office stating they have investigated the accounts in question and they were verified. I spoke with Mr. Alfie ** on October 15, 2008 about the letter requesting information about their investigation process and making him aware of my own investigation into the accounts which he stated were verified. I explain to Mr. ** that I wrote to each credit grantor requesting verification of debt allegedly owned. These credit grantors could not verify the account as owed to me. I made Mr. ** aware of this but he stated they verified the accounts with Experian.
I'm curious of how they could verify this account with Experian and not with me. I do not believe Experian takes the time to verify accounts correctly and allows false and fraudulent information to be placed on people's credit file without proper investigation. Experian needs a class action lawsuit against them to get the point. They cannot continue to place and keep unverifiable information on someone credit without proper investigation. Also it was stated to me that Experian verifies information by name and social security number and a automated system. There needs to be a paper trail along with the account so we can be protected against ID theft. As long as Experian keep using substandard requirements to verify we all are not safe with Experian as a credit reporting agency.

However, we were never able to write to Experian because they do not facilitate an address where credit dispute can be directed to. Experian only accepts dispute on line, by forcing you to purchase a credit report from them & only them.

I believe that my situation has been resolved. What concerns me is the way I was treated and the difficulty I had in reaching a live individual, which is what the situation required. I had to use a day of vacation to do this. It doesn't seem right.

There is a past due account on my credit report that has been satisfied and i have notified experian via u.s. mail and they have not removed this negative account from my credit. I have attempted to contact them several times via the telephone and cannot speak to a live person. I have also attempted several time on the dispute section of their website but have received no action.
This has proven to be quite exhausting. i have taken pride in maintaining my good credit standing and to have this occur. Credit agencies are supposed to help maintain a person's good name. not damage it.

I have contacted Equifax and TransUnion regarding disputes I had. Both Equifax and TransUnion have verified that the disputes I submitted were in my favor and were subsequently deleted. However, Experian refuses to accept my disputes and has stated over phone conversations that they will not initiate an investigation for accounts that are clearly not mine. I have contacted, through certified mail, the companies who are reporting derogatory information and have received no response.
On one occasion, one company only sent me their "filing receipt" and no documentation that the account they are reporting as negative is valid. Experian seems to be in favor of companies and not the consumer. Today, I was told I could not submit disputes for investigations. Additionally, my credit report has inquiries that are not of my doing, and Experian refuses to investigate or delete them. My credit file has names that are not mine, as well as frivolous addresses that I have never used; however, Experian continues to refuse to investigate or delete the inaccurate information - even after providing them with copies of my Driver's License, U.S. Passport, Social Security Card, Pay Stubs, and Utility bills.
I had to finance a car with a high interest (17%) rate because Experian refuses to acknowledge all my documentation that clearly shows inacurate information on my credit file with Experian. I believe it is time that we as consumers, Americans, got together a filed a class action lawsuit agains a company that refuses to listen by way of amiicable solutions. It is time for our court system to get involved!

I cant apply for credit because my score is full of negative inaccurate information reported by Experian. Many companies pull Experian because they know how difficult they are and are more than likely to report invalid information which lowers the consumers credit score, which results with less credit or higher rates when applying for credit.

I mailed disputes twice with paper work to show proof of being paid and even court papers from a judge-to take a judgment against me off. Nothing from experian yet. I've tried to call several times and can never speak with a live person. Until all of this is resolved I cannot get a mortgage.
I cannot get a mortgage until these matters are resolved. I have disputed things on transunion and equifax with results within 30 days sometimes less. How can experian get away with screwing a persons life and credit? This is causing a major hardship on me and my family

Applied for credit at Huntington Bank. Break for best rate was 750 credit score. Checke credit scor with FICO, it was 797. Completed Huntington Application, and got responses showing lower Experian score. To make a long story short, they had shown a judgemnt that I obtained against a rental tenant as being against me and if favor of the tenant. Telephone calls to the magistrate court reveal that they do not report to any credit bureau, but the credit bureaus are able to access the public record to obtain their data.
Thus, an Experian agent or employee was directly responsible for the bad data. This raised the cost of my loan (home equity line) by 1.5%. I declined the loan, and have been totally frustrated by Experians refusal to even call the magistrate court to verify their error, or accept a fax of the actual court order from either me or the court. I have not lost much. I will have to sell some stocks, and draw from my retirement savings to pay the roofing contractor. Since I do not carry montly balance on credit cards, I won't have much of an extra cost there either. I have lost much in personal credibility (I have been an employee of mortgage lending firms for 39 years, and am now semi-retired, and am a consultant and a Realtor. In these roles, my credibility and personal integrity are paramount to success.
Obviously, libelous information such as this being openly available to the lending community is damaging. Experian's refusal to take any step to prompltly correct this is emotionly trying. I have about 3 hours in trying to reach a human at Experian, and going thru their abyssmal phone system trying to correct their error. When I did reach a human, they said they would only accept my information by snail-mail, and that they would not correct any thing in less than 45 days!

I contacted experian regarding a negative item on my credit report. All other credit agencies after I sent them the supporting document they took it off but Experian, the problem is when I contacted the original creditor Sears they told me we don't have any information about this account we sold it to colllection agency, I got a letter from collection that this account is closed based on there is no evidence from Sears to support there claim. I did 3 disputes already with no luck I wish FD would do somethig about Experian.
My credit score went down 15 points and I got rejected for credit increase and low transfer balances.

I went to Trinity Medical Center for an emergency dental infection. When I got there they did the normal things they would do right until I was seen by the doctor. Then things became very different from previous experiences for similar needs. I had a swollen gum line and was not going to have enough income to see a dentist. I have a child to take care of and I can't afford to become seriously ill. When the doctor came in all she did was to shine a flash light in my mouth. She didn't even use so much as a tongue depressor to check the swelling on the other side of my teeth which would have required the use of a tongue depressor.
I tried to explain to the doctor that if I had the money I wouldn't have been at the emergency room and I do not have any health insurance. Her response was that she couldn't understand why I didn't have any money. It's not her job to be my financial advisor, nor is it her business. She then informed me that she was refusing to treat me as a patient unless I had $150 in cash. I said that if I had that much I could have just as well gone to the dentist, or at least a doctors office for antibiotics. I explained to her I wasn't even interest in pain management and that I have had this experience before and I wished to take care of it before I was in need of pain management. She informed me that if it wasn't life threatening that she wasn't going to treat me at all and left the exam room.
Then an anonymous clerk in the hospital staff came in to talk to me about paying for my visit. After speaking with the anonymous staff I found out they have been knowingly accepting patients they knew they were going to refuse service to prior to ever being pre-screened by the nurse as soon as they saw they had no insurance or money for weeks and they found it to be very frustrating. The clerks are just doing what they are told to do. I personally felt like this was a fraudulent medical practice to knowingly accept patients they were going refuse treatment for without up front payment in an emergency room. Then I got a bill for over $300 for the same visit in which I was refused service without cash.
I will be honest in saying that I have had some previous bills at the same facility and have not paid them. I am a not in the best of financial circumstances but I have been trying to pay off all of the smaller bills I have and the goal was to start paying off the larger ones next. However, I have never had such bad treatment in the past at the same hospital. I do intend to pay the previous bills that I have as well that I can, but this bill I refuse to pay as I feel it's flat out fraudulent. I think they are a good hospital in other areas, but this just to me was completely uncalled for in the medical profession.
So I decided that if I wasn't the only person this was happening to, and I did not wish to jeopardize the employment of the clerk who was honest with me about the situation that I would try to make a report against their credit standing. There is no phone number to contact anyone at Experian to even discuss it as an option. After reviewing here, it seems that would be highly unlikely. To be honest, I'm too poor to really care about my credit report. I was trying to pay off bills because it is the right thing to do. I honestly owe them, I should pay them even if it is just a little bit at a time.

I had incorrect information regarding a credit card. The credit card was paid off and closed in Sept. 2007. I am trying to get a home loan. I discovered there was still a balance on this card in Jan. 08. I contacted the Credit Card company and they had told me that the card was closed and paid off in Sept. 2007. I had them send me a letter stating this. I disputed this information with Experian and they came back to me in Feb. 2008 stating that it was still not paid and I now have a 60 day late mark. So I disputed again in March 2008, they give me another 60 late mark.
I dispute again in May 2008...they finally realize that YES the account was paid in full and closed, so they fix that, but they put another 60 day late mark on there. I have called and complained several times and I get 2 different stories. Experian says that they see it was paid in full but the credit card company never told them that there shouldn't be any lates...I try to explain...how can there be lates when I don't even have an open account and there was 0 balance. They tell me it doesn't matter if I send them another letter, they will go back to the credit card company and get the same info.
So I spoke with the credit card company and told them the situation...they stated that they have not reported the account late and there should be no activity. They were so nice, they said they would send an Emergency Credit Update to the creditors. When I called Experian today, the woman I spoke with told me she would not put it back in dispute status becuase they have reviewed this several times. I asked to speak with her manager and she said NO and she told me she is not going to repeat herself several times! Eventually I got her to take my number to give to her manager and I said thank you and she just hung up. I have yet to receive a call from her manager.
If this is not corrected, my credit score remains too low for me to receive a home loan. Therefore, I will have to be stuck in another apartment lease agreement. Also, last month, my dog was hit by a car. I was denied a credit card to help fix my dog and had to pay out of pocket to save her life.

When Experian was challenged on the charges I found out they used my credit card number from two years before. But even now I do not know how they obtained my credit card number or worse how they are legally able to use that number without authorization. I think more pressure should be put on these companies to be more tranparent in their disclosure of terms and fees and not have the customer need to search the fine print.
I was charged two months fees ($14.95 x 2)before I realized the problem and have since cancelled the membership.

They are offering me free credit monitoring for 24 months. They provided a website to enroll and the site took me to the enrollment screen for Experian. I noted many complaints about Experian on your site and wondered if you have had any other complaints about this.
Since the enrollment screen requested my social security number, I did not enroll. I wonder if the whole thing is a scam by Equifax to enroll people in their program. Judging by the complaints I have read, this company does not exactly have a stellar reputation in credit monitoring. Have you heard about BNY Mellon losing any data tapes? Does this sound legit?

I sent several letters to Experian requesting that they remove an outdated tax lien from 1995 which had been settled years ago. The other agencies corrected the issue, and Experian is the only one that will not remove it. They say that it has been investigated by them and they will not investigate again. In fact they corrected the issue about 2 years ago and to my surprise it was put back on my report again. I even sent then a copy of their report where it was corrected by them. The information is incorrect, and they should be brought with a class-action case because if the other agencies can get it right they should also. And not be allowed to just put incorrect informtion on a consumers credit information.
I was refused a loan to re-finance my home for a lower rate because of the information they are reporting on my file. Now I must wait for 30 days or longer to try again. Who knows what the interest rates will be at then. In today's economy you would think they would try to get the information right, and not hurt the consumer more.

I have been trying to contact Experian about a negative report on my credit. There is a dispute link that absolutely does not work. After pouring over the entire site looking for some way to contact them I finally realize there is none. They have regional addresses to contact about anything OTHER than complaints. What Experian is doing should be illegal. I clicked the dispute button and filled out my personal information FIVE times and each time I received an error message that the session had timed out. I had it down to a science and was able to fill out that form in 5 minutes but still it timed out. Instead it referred me to their Welcome Page.
What I realize now is if I don't pay for a credit report or sign up for that Credit Manager program then they will not help me. And from what I have been reading they may not help me anyway. They want me to order a credit report and I have to enter a confirmation # which means I can't even use the FREE report to start the dispute. I have to order it from Experian. I can't understand how they are able to do this.

I applied for an increase on my credit card and was denied due to serious delinquency. I find out this serious deliquency was a $31 Mandee balance that was an oversite because I never recieved a statement for that month and rarely use the card so was not expecting a bill anyway. When I got a phone call from Mandee looking for payment I was stunned and very apologetic because it was an oversite and paid it over the phone on the spot. The rep assured me this would NOT affect my credit as I have excellent credit rating so I was naturally concerned.
Sure enough this minor thing has turned into a major event with me trying to get it removed. It can only be removed with a copy of the report. Experian will only provide a 'free' copy of report with a $30 triple advantage membership. And you need their report # in order to dispute. And you can't get a person on the phone it is strictly an automated system. I have spent hours trying to straighten this out to no avail.
Due to this I have had a signifignt amount of stress. I worked very hard for years to develope a good credit history. This has caused me to be denied a new car loan when I have never been late on my current car loan and have over paid the monthly payment every month in the last 3 years I have carried it.
