Your customer service department needs some serious training. I understand that they're trying to be overly cautious about the information they are providing (at least now they are), but they should be cautious when they're taking personal information. I don't know these people and Equifax has proven that it's not a trustworthy company. The woman on the other line (I would be happy to provide her name if needed) repeated my personal information over the phone - ranging from SSN to personal information. She's obviously sitting in a call center with whoever else around her, saying this information out loud to anyone who is sitting around her. Absolutely unimpressed.

Equifax needs to be shut down as a company. They can't protect our data (admin-admin? REALLY?) and have no common sense for securing personal information. And they want people to sign up for free credit monitoring? The company couldn't protect our data to begin with, why would I trust them to continue to monitor my credit? Thanks for creating such a liability for hundreds of millions of citizens, Equifax.

I cannot get a credit report from Equifax. I have attempted several times online and now they are requesting documents via mail. This is ridiculous. This is the company that fraudulently hacked my bank account with an electronic check one month and tried to do it again the following month. The electronic check was supposedly authorized by me with a bogus address and information on the draft sent through my account. I had to file a fraud charge, close the account, and open another account. The bank thinks it was for a $350 a month credit policy. (Really?) Would you trust this company with your documentation to get a credit report? Especially after talking to one of their rude clowns in their customer service center who couldn't tell me what it was for.

Asked for email address as user name. Entered our email address for both persons. Equifax did not block using the same email address for both husband and wife. After I entered husband’s email address to sign up, the information of his came up with his name and wife's last 4 of social security and date of birth. Equifax should have been programmed to reject the use of the same email for two accounts. Unable at this time to register husband in TrustedID. Equifax working on the problem.

This complaint is based upon my husband's experience that started within the past year. We started having issues within the last year with our bank being able to pull my husband's credit score and information through Equifax for new loan information but didn't give it much regard as the bank chose to use the other 2 reporting agencies to approve us. After several phone calls previously and now trying to start the process of obtaining a home mortgage together we found out there were major issues that have now caused a domino effect with the mortgage company. The mortgage co tried to pull his Equifax report as they stated they needed him medium score in order to start the paperwork and processes needed and when they could not pull it they stated there had to be a possible freeze on his information.

Starting about July of 2017 my husband called and requested that the freeze be removed but the Customer Service agent claimed there was no freeze but did something supposedly and assured us everything was ok. We contacted Mortgage co. to again pull the information and again nothing. Called Equifax back and they stated again no freeze but that our old address from over 2 years ago was still reporting on his file. We had already ordered and obtained his credit file from the other 2 reporting agencies who both show our current address so this was alarming to us. Customer Service with Equifax then again told us no freeze but to fax in a copy of his DL, SS, Rental Agreement and any other documentation of those kinds to verify his identity.

I faxed everything over via a rit-fax on 8.17.17 and got a response a week later from Equifax stating the documents could not be read and to mail them so on 8.30.17 I mailed a letter via USPS to their Atlanta, GA address Disputes Dept. with these document plus more in colored photocopies and again received another letter on Saturday 9.16.17 that their records did not match what they had on file and that they needed the stated documents. I don't know what more documentation I can send in order for them to update my husband's address and resolve this issue.

This is costing me money and more time that I could be using to purchase a home but instead we are dealing with an agency who seems to not have to be responsible for the people they are supposedly supposed to be assisting in keeping their financial information up to date and current. I have today contacted the CFPB and submitted a formal complaint along with the supporting documents I sent to Equifax in order to try to get resolution. I should hopefully hear something back in next 2 weeks so yeah for us more time to wait and waste.

On that site to check if you're affected, I wasn't, but from others I have heard it is not accurate, and instead it redirects you to their monitoring service. The only entities that know if you’re truly affected is the credit companies themselves, banks, CC companies, they get a list of people affected. @Melanie of Golden Valley, the servers, phone lines at all 3 credit companies are completely swamped due to freeze request, monitoring request, fraud reports, other issues. This is because of the Equifax breach that caused 143 million people to become panicked, and it’s pretty much mass hysteria right now all over the web. Because there’s so much traffic to these companies your requests may or may not go through.

Another problem is that since Equifax, Experian, TransUnion wasn't prepared for this breach, and people have experience errors message when they tried to apply freezes, fraud alerts, get credit reports. Some of your request actually went through when you try to reapply a freeze, fraud report requests. Sadly these companies don't like dealing with people so they try to force you to mail or call them, and from many sources even these avenues are proving very difficult as well. However it will sometimes work if you keep calling them. But people have problems even trying to call them. I personally never dealt with any of these credit companies, until news of Equifax broke up, and I started looking if I was affected, even if my credit file is very thin, thus I don't have a very big credit file.

I did put a fraud alert on all 3 companies just in case, since this is the only thing that actually went through, as I cannot access any of the 3 credit files, after it crashed the website, and it magically went through after it notified me the 2nd time. By the way, there is no confirmation email, whether or not you actually registered for the fraud alert. People are reporting that freezing sometimes doesn’t give people their pin, which is another hassle, because they are forced to call Equifax, which also might drop your call randomly, put you on hold for hours, or not at all. Melanie of Golden Valley, you should call them and be persistent and don't hang up on the phone calls. Best place for some advice is go to Reddit’s Megathread of Equifax breach.

I’m one of those people that can’t even get the 3 free annual credit report, because the "credit" questions they gave me were so obscure I couldn't answer them correctly, and 2 of the 4 questions were fake. If you fail to answer these questions correctly, even one of them it will completely block you from getting 1 online. You only get 2 tries before online credit report is blocked. And you have to call and or mail them in order to get the reports. Also I tried to get Experian’s free credit report directly from the site, upon accidentally logging into many failed login, it completely blocked me since yesterday. And I would have to call them for some reason to unlock, why do they not have an email customer support?

It is much easier on those companies. Since Equifax reaches other countries it might also affect them as well, and those countries Equifax headquarters have an email support system. I suggest signing up for Credit Karma to monitor your credit (however don't try to delete the account as that will block you from getting another account with your SSN for 6 months, their policy). REDDIT’S MEGATHREAD EQUIFAX BREACH IS THE BEST PLACE TO look for more info.

I signed up for the freaking $19.99 a month fraud protection about three months ago and what did it get me, my identity being stolen. I never have trusted any of the "dirt bag" credit companies over the years. They all have information that is wrong half of the time and when you try to get it corrected, it takes months if not years. I have been trying to reach Equifax for over 5 days just to get my password reset and find out what happen on my account. I've been on hold with Experian for 1 hour now and no answer. Again, I paid this "dirt bag" company as well for their services. You would think if you were a paying customers someone would answer and help you. Every time I try to reset something and I give all my correct information it still doesn't work.

Thirdly, having worked for a security software company that did "simulation" test for companies like Equifax and when you showed them the high probability of them being hacked the low life cheap executives don't want to pay for the software and services. I saw where the Equifax CIO and Chief Security decided to retire after their lack of security that caused this. These two worthless people, now get to ride into the sunset with a big fat retirement and over 148 millions people like me have to suffer for their negligence. I hope all of Equifax and all of them get sued in a class action suit. These three companies must go and we need a better system, PERIOD!!!

They are not user friendly. I have never received a credit report unless you paid for it. I've provide all the extra documentation they requested and still no credit report. They have been and are very difficult to do business with. Since the security breach, I 've requested a credit report and it said I had to fill out a form or pay for a credit report. Equifax loses 143 million people's personal info and I cannot receive my free credit report from them to check my records. TransUnion and Experian gave me free credit reports with absolutely no problems AND allowed me to initiate a freeze on my account. However, Equifax claims they cannot allow me to view my free credit report online AND, whether I call or use their website, I cannot initiate a freeze to my account, WHICH they warn could cost me money to do... if I could complete the process. Apparently, their phone automated systems are down every time I call and their website system is currently unavailable with an Error 500.

Equifax has made a HUGE mistake and it seems we can only wait around for our information to be used. We cannot even FREEZE our account through them, which should be free. Is Equifax really trying to cash in on their mistake? THIS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED!

In doing so (at least through Experian) the credit report company also removes your name and address from prescreened offer mailing lists for two years; unless you ask them to put your name back on the list. I had to call each one of them to have this done. Easily, I reached Experian and TransUnion. I spent over 1 hour trying to get the same done with Equifax, the company who put all of us in this mess to begin with. I can't get through to anyone at any of the Equifax phones. Can't even initiate a fraud alert without having to contact them by mail! This is just unacceptable.

Today I am unable to do the following through Equifax: freeze my account, create a fraud alert, retrieve my credit report, or send an email to Equifax. I can't even figure out why my Equifax score has dropped or what to do about it. I appreciate any update that people are receiving, because Equifax's website clearly doesn't cut it. Ugh.

This company has nothing to do with our business and is even in another state. I have written a letter, attached copies of proof that this is not us but I have no way of sending the information. Yesterday I learned I am among the millions affected by the Equifax breach. I embarked on the process of obtaining the free online credit reports I am entitled to every year. I had no problem receiving those from the other two agencies. When I tried Equifax, the security questions didn't apply to me. They addressed specifics about loans I don't have - student, car, etc. I checked the multiple choice option to state none of the choices were correct. I was not allowed to complete the process and told to jump through more hoops such as sending them photo copies of my Social Security card, driver's license, etc. My first thought was identity theft. I then did some research on Equifax and discovered I'm not the only one who has experienced this problem. In fact, it seems to be a method they use to get panicky consumers to buy security programs from them while at the same time selling them a security report they should be getting for free.

This is just the beginning. The organization that made it possible for criminals to access the personal information of millions would now like to stress the importance of signing up for a security program that limits the ability of victims of the breach to avail themselves of all their legal rights. I placed an immediate freeze on my credit reports and will continue to learn everything I can before going forward. Everyone should, whether they believe they are affected by the Equifax breach or not. They have your information.

I read press reports about the Equifax data breach. Logged into USAA Credit Card site for my account. Was redirected to Experian (not Equifax) for a credit check. Found that an Experian Credit Report and score is $9.95, and a three bureau Credit Report and Score is $24.95. It appears on the surface that the data breach by Equifax may now be a money-making scheme for Experian as I later found that Equifax offers a "Trusted ID Premier" program that "offers COMPLIMENTARY" five separate items, including the Equifax Credit Report, a three Bureau Credit File Monitor and three other credit report services. I'm disappointed in Equifax's data breach, and equally unimpressed by Experian's aid to consumers...

2017 Cyber Security Breach - I'm one of the 143 MILLION people whose information has been comprised from Equifax. My financial advisers as well as the main stream media has recommended contacting the 3 credit bureaus requesting a "freeze of credit". The criminals who Equifax provided "My" SS #, DOB, and home address will use this information eventually, could even be several years down the road! I stated my request to a customer service agent who advised me "I" would have to pay a fee to freeze and unfreeze my credit line. He did offer a 1 yr free monitoring solution, yippee! My response to that was “Equifax failed to ensure my information was secure how can I put trust in Equifax to monitor my information," which he could not answer. I then spoke to his manager who gave me the same BS and could not answer my question nor provide a "freeze" at no additional cost.

I got the same response all the way up the chain which ended with Kyle in Consumer Affairs Department, shockingly the same answer! Equifax has no way of knowing WHEN my stolen information will be used... hence why I want the FREEZE. My suggestion is for Equifax to provide a "FREE FREEZE" for those customers who request it. Why should I have to pay for your mistake? Another suggestion is for Equifax to partner with TransUnion/Experian and offer a combined FREEZE for their customers who are impacted and interested. Instead they are offering 1 yr. free monitoring, which we all know is total BS... it’s simply a public relation spin on a "HUGE" problem that will never go away! Once your private information hits the black market there's no way to recover it!

In fact, Equifax will significantly profit from this, makes you stop and question, "Was this an intentional act"? The integrity of Equifax is questionable, now knowing Equifax found out back in May/June timeframe (top of the house dumped shares of stock prior to public knowledge, knowing the impact to stock price) and we are just learning this Sept. 8th. Clearly Equifax has their own interest at hand and NOT the 143 MILLION people whose lives will never be the same… Very disappointing indeed.

Glad I canceled my Equifax monitoring account earlier this year. I had trouble getting into my account and called customer service. I asked the person who was helping me from Equifax where he was located. East Yemen. I want people handling my credit information to be in the country I live in. Equifax is disrespectful. I did not even give him information to identify me and I called my credit card company. Blocked all charges from Equifax. I sent Equifax an email cancelling service. Equifax has a responsibility to keep our information private and safe and I was paying for that very service. There is no excuse and they've failed miserably.

Most importantly, I started calling around and asking about call centers at financial institutions and other companies that provide me service using my identification information. My rule is that there are plenty of other companies out there that will respect and it is not necessary to do business with someone who cannot respect their customer or their customer's privacy.

I have been working to get my credit score to be great for yrs so I can eventually take the chance on owning a business. So the time came for me to go apply and I was confident with my credit scores from the other agencies but never looked at Equifax before I went to the bank and applied for a loan. The banker told me what the requirements were and I was sure I would qualify so she said "Just to make sure you won't take a hit on my credit with the inquiry create a credit karma account and see what their score is for you because they are normally right around the ballpark of your score." I created the account while sitting in her office and my score was a 710 which was right around the number of my Experian and Transunion score so I wasn't surprised. So we put the application in for the loan and she said I was denied because my score was a 569 and then informed me that Equifax score is what they go by.

She as much as me was shocked and said she never seen their score be that much different. So I called Equifax to see how could this be possible and emphasized that I have never known my score to be this low In my life and she persuaded me to sign up for the package to see what's on my report which helped me not at all. I was asking her to explain to me how can their credit score be so different from the other agencies and she told me they were not reliable at all because they go by a totally different system.

I was so hot that I called the other agencies asking what good is their score if the banks only look at Equifax when deciding on a loan and they told me that Equifax is very slow at updating things and they can assure me the score that they have for me is correct and up to date while Equifax just drags their feet basically. Also I looked at my Experian credit karma and Trans reports this morning and my score went up an additional 45pts because of being financially responsible but when I checked the Equifax it was still stuck at 569.

I wonder how could this be possible for the number one credit agency that the bank uses when deciding on a loan. It's like they are using the worst one for their most reliable source of your credit. This whole situation stinks to me and it wouldn't surprise me if the banks use them intentionally just for that reason which is to deny more loans. Looking at all of these complaints about this company I don't see how banks can read them and still choose to go with the worst agency. I refuse to believe that they are that dumb.

As for me I had to put my business aspirations on hold until Equifax updates their scores within the next 60 to 90 days. It's frustrating when you get your paperwork up for business also getting the right licensing to make sure things get off the ground assuming that your credit is great but when you go to the bank they use the worst scoring agency on the planet. Now they had a data breach and it doesn't surprise me since they only check their files every 60 to 90 days. My question is what are consumer affairs going to do with all of these customers' complaints????

I've recently run into a credit scoring issue. First off, I have worked pretty hard at getting my credit score up to an acceptable number and while not at the top, it is still good enough to get me approved for some credit cards with pretty decent credit limits. I recently took an offer for a credit card with a credit line 9X that of a card I had at the time and the new one had no annual fee, which no one should ever pay that just to hold that card. The financial institution checked my credit score with Equifax and at the time it was at 703 and that was on 27 Jun 2017, again, not great but not bad either.

In July of 2017 I, as a cosigner, helped my 17 year old son apply for a student loan, because what average 17 year old even has a credit rating, the student loan was approved but this institution also ran a credit check on myself and the reporting agency they used was also Equifax and the report now, dated 26 Jul 2017 now says 654. So in 29 days my credit score plunged almost 50 points. In the time period between 27 Jun 2017 and 26 Jul 2017 I paid off a loan and I did that 11 months early, I received a credit card with a 9K credit limit but canceled one with an $1100.00 limit and for that I get a 49 point drop. Interest rating is always based on credit scores and payment history so certainly a 703 would get me a better rate than a 654.

I have tried every number there is for Equifax to ask them why this huge drop, what math is used to do this and all I get are automated messages, there's no one to speak to. So everyone knows that your credit score drops when it is checked as in what is referred to as a "hard check", Why is that? Why should what I work hard to maintain or increase drop just because someone looked at it? I mean I have had a mortgage before and they will usually make you pay to get a copy of your report but why should that affect the score itself? If I am going to purchase a car and they check my credit and the score drops as a result then if I look at a car and test drive it, can I drop the price of the car just because I did? And why do they get to use the dropped number to figure the financing rather than what is was before they looked and caused it to drop?

The credit rating system is a complete scam. You work hard to get it up there to show you are worthy of a loan or mortgage or student loan or whatever it may be, even getting a job or a place to live is often dictated by your credit score. If I work to build up my credit score and all it takes to make it crap is by certain people looking at it, then what good is it? How fair is it? There are three and none of them are the same and you have the ones that are free to look at any day, any time but that score is never accepted by anyone so it really means nothing. If there is wrong information on your credit report you have to jump through hoops in the hopes of it being corrected, as I said and we all know, it is a scam. If there's anyone who knows a number to Equifax that I can call and get an actual human being who isn't from an overseas calling center, I would love to know what it is.

I have had the unpleasant experience of 11 identity thefts in the past 8 years. Equifax has the worst customer care of the 3 credit bureau companies. I have had security freezes placed on all 3 bureaus and have sent police reports and other supporting documents to all 3 bureaus. Equifax continues to ask for all of these documents repeatedly in spite of my submitting them by mail to them.

As an identity theft victim in my state I am not required to pay for temporarily unfreezing or refreezing my bureau. Equifax continues to ask for my dollars to do this. Using a valid PIN number I should be able to unfreeze my account with Equifax. This is not the case and I still have to wait until Monday at 9 AM to make a phone call to usually a Filipino who asks me questions over and over like my experience yesterday where I was asked my PIN on 4 separate occasions. I stated after the first that I was searching for it on my phone but the questions persisted. I did not get a sense that she really understood what I was asking of her since she kept asking me if I wanted to undo my security freeze.

One of my thefts was due to Equifax allowing my credit to be run in spite of my address given not being correct. It was correct 20 years ago and the person who used my old address was able to open a payday loan for 255 dollars with my good credit. This resulted in a collection account on all my bureaus. It took a month and the account was eventually removed however it took me over 30 hours of my time and effort with multiple phone calls etc to correct it. I have been dealing with this company for 8 years and find that they have not improved in comparison to Experian or TransUnion which in my opinion are clear the number 1 and 2 in the credit business. Equifax: Please observe how Experian does excellent business with consumers!

The last 4 weeks 95%+ of the time I try to log onto Equifax site, the portion where you dispute information on your credit file, their system is down. Multiple issues have been posted, server error, updating, temporarily down, check back, I believe are all the messages I have seen. The other portion of their site always appears to be up with no observed down time. The other two credit agencies have been stellar. Something is up with the rash of down time for those disputing errors on their credit file at Equifax. I also have one dispute that was reported over 60 days ago, and they are supposed to complete the investigation in a 30 day period. With as much impact as credit has one's life, we can only hope they correct it.

I sought to get my credit report and credit score. When I searched this option online, Equifax came up first and it clearly says FREE CREDIT REPORT & SCORE. When I clicked on this link, the only option available was a $1 credit report and score which you must place your credit card down to receive this service. Don't be fooled. This is a way for Equifax to get your credit card information and they proceed to charge you $19.95 for services you don't need. Years ago, it was many months before I figured out they were doing this and thankfully, my credit card company refunded the $19.95 Equifax was charging me each month for six months.

This time when I sought the misleading $1 credit report service, I did cancel this outrageous $19.95 charge before the 7 day trial period was up. When I called a customer serviced agent to cancel this service, he was extremely curt, rude, and would not let me finish my sentence. I tried to tell him that this $1 charge and subsequently $20 charge per month for an advertised "free" credit report was extremely misleading. He cut me off, didn't want to hear me, explained the process to me in a very smug way, and then told me my services were cancelled. When I told him that him he interrupted me and would not allow me to speak, he merely continued his scripted cancellation speech, and hung up on me.

Wow, this is a company that is advertised to help people manage their credit worthiness and online safety? I give this company zero stars. Horrible customer service and please envision if you did need help with credit worthiness or identity theft. I can imagine the same dismissive and unhelpful process. Don't bother going to them.

There was a bogus hard inquiry from company I never did business with nor would I on Credit Karma. Only Equifax showed the hard inquiry. Transunion did not. I attempted to put a fraud alert on my account using the Equifax link. They charged me 10 dollars to do so and after the charge appeared in my account they sent me a note saying they couldn't do the fraud alert without a lot of additional documents.

Previously, attempts to order credit reports from Equifax were met with long lists of extra documents all of which I submitted and never got the report. When I called them about the submitted documents their customer service was shockingly rude. After remembering how horrible Equifax is to deal with I contacted Transunion which let me do a free fraud alert over the phone without layers and layers of documents. I believe Equifax wants to collect money and then put so many hoops in place to deliver the service you paid for that people give up and go away without getting what they paid for. I wonder now if Equifax possibly places fake hard inquiries in place to get people to pay 12 bucks a month for "credit protection." If I do purchase that service it won't be from Equifax as once again, another painful reminder of the absolute scam this company is. It is time for a class action lawsuit.

A credit card I never had appeared on my credit report. In trying to connect online with Equifax to dispute this item I was told they had my account. Then I was presented with a list of items supposedly on my account. Not one of them was true, so I checked "none" on all of them. As a result, my request was rejected and I was directed to another for that asked for a confirmation number. Since I hadn't filed a report, I had to such number, so that form was rejected. This is classic Catch 22, with no way to contact them to dispute something on my credit report without going through other items that deny me access to the dispute process itself. I had no problem online reporting this non-existent credit card to TransUnion. From my own experience and what I've read, it seems that Equifax causes immeasurable damage to many people with their arcane and hostile procedures.

All I got from Equifax was, 'it's on your report for 2 years', even though I never authorized it. I called Bank, that did Inquiry and told them I never authorize, and reminded them, 'I've never done business with you', they took care of it within minutes!

I also made current payments on accounts, and had information clarified on my report, and guess what... MY CREDIT SCORE DROPPED! What exactly is 'Equifax' purpose, when the consumer has to do all the dirty work, and their Agents don't do anything, but offer you a 'Free Month' for your problems, or... "I'm sorry for what you are going thru"! We are looking into buying a home, but yet, our Credit report is never accurate! I purchased a new home and I was going to be moving into it in about 3 weeks and I had to obtain new electric and gas service prior to moving in. I contacted the utility company in that area and had applied for new service. While I was on the phone with the agent and completing the application she replied to me. "Sir, I am sorry that we are unable to provide you services at this time as you have a fraud alert on your Equifax credit file". I replied, "What...? I just was approved for a mortgage and I purchased a new car about 4 months ago and there is nothing wrong with my credit as I always have paid all my bills on time". She replied, "I am sorry Sir, but until the fraud alert is removed from your Equifax credit file we are unable to provide you service and you must contact Equifax directly to have it removed".

Well, I called Equifax and it took at least 20 minutes to get someone on the phone in the right department to help and assist me and this is when the horror show began. First the customer service agent was rude, arrogant and had a bad attitude problem and I explained my situation and circumstances to her. She replied to me, "Sir, in order to have this fraud alert removed from your Equifax credit report you must fax in all of the following documentation, your current driver's license, a copy of your Social Security card, a copy of your last 3 months bank statements, a SSA89 form, and other documentation and once we receive all of that and it is verified it will take up to 3 business days to have it removed and we will send you an email notification that it has been removed".

I gathered all the documentation they had requested and faxed all of it to them the next day and I received a confirmation page that they in fact did receive all 12 pages. I waited about a week for this confirmation email from them stating that the fraud alert was removed and deleted from my credit file. That email never came and to this date 6 months later with repeated phone calls, faxing everything at least 6 times they still have failed to remove the fraud alert from my credit file.

I was in a real bind as we were going to be moving into the new house and it was mandatory I had electric and gas service so I had no choice or option but to ask one of my relatives to put it in their name until this problem was resolved. My relative did it for me but it was very embarrassing and uncomfortable asking someone else to put electric and gas service in their name and it was all due to the fact that Equifax did not do their job after I had fully complied and supplied them everything multiple times that they had requested from me. This is still an ongoing problem with Equifax and I filed a complaint with the FTC about this whole matter and situation as in my opinion Equifax is unprofessional and should not be allowed to be in business. The Equifax Horror Show continues. ** them!

I am trying to get a home Ioan and cannot because Equifax is not generating a score for me. Have started my process of attempting to find out why Equifax has not generated a credit score that is visible to me (online) or a to the credit company attempting to get a score for me, since May 12, 2017. I have spoken to 14 different individuals at Equifax and not one person is willing to take the time to identify why we cannot see a score for me.

I have been told something different such as, it was the fraud alert I had placed on my account over 5 years prior that was causing the issue, to my name, then it was my address, and finally when they could not see any other issue with my information it became things such as, it is fine on our end, it is the creditor's problem in the way they are running it, and the one I like the best when I got super upset with the escalation department, I advised that no one within Equifax cared to take ownership, I was then told by Chris in the escalations department - I can see how it may appear this way - meaning that I can't see my score.

I explained, "No Chris, it is a fact that I nor the creditor can see the score." He went on to say, he could see a hard hit from the creditor and as I told all of the other 13 people prior to Chris, yes but the score is not being generated. Chris only spoke with me because of a survey. He told me that he would look into my issue and call me back - Hey Chris, I am still waiting for your call. Each individual had very little patience, interest or concern of my issue, which has left me stuck. I cannot do anything about it and I am extremely, extremely, extremely angry with the lack of concern by this company. I cannot get a home loan approval to this error within Equifax system and I think it is absolutely shameful that my ability to move forward in life is left in the hands of people such as these. Uncaring, unconcerned and lacking some real serious training on ownership and empathy.

Back to some of the individuals I spoke with such as Jamal, who advised me that he was a manager, the highest level I could go in speaking with someone regarding my desire to escalate, and there was no one above him. He gave me a telephone number to the Consumer Business Department and told me to have the mortgage company call that number. He advised that I could not call the number, they would have to, because that line only deals with businesses. Although I did not believe it was the mortgage companies issue to help resolve the error with Equifax, I did reach out to them, asking if they could. They did and guess what - as soon as they called that department, they were advised that they could not speak with them regarding a personal/individual score. I was absolutely furious at this point. I called back again (some 6 - 8 hours of phone time later with Equifax) and of course (once again) ha to start all the way over from scratch.

I spoke with only one individual who was one of two David's, who appeared to know what he was talking about. He advised, that Equifax has not generated a score for me since 2012 due to some error and that my file needed to be re-run or something to that extent. He advised that he could not fix it because that was not his department (of course) and that he would transfer me to the department that could fix it. I asked him to please explain to the person because I had already been transferred a few times prior and really did not want to continue telling the story from the beginning. He advised that he would definitely do so. I waited patiently on the phone and a new voice answered by saying "how can I help you". I (being in shock) asked if David explained the situation to him. His response was, he gave me some brief information.

So again, I had to start from scratch and went all the way up to why David said I needed to be transferred to him. After all that was said, this individual said he would not be able to help because that is not what he does, I would need to speak with customer service. I was absolutely floored. The mortgage company has tried to do what they could. We were told that there was something back from when a fraud alert was placed on the account (although now removed) that is causing the system to not generate a score and a ticket was opened.

I just received a message being told, that there is nothing else the mortgage company can do for me based on Equifax's inability to fix the error. I was even asked to reach out to my current creditors and have each of them run an emergency credit for me because they have not done so in years. I advised if that were the case, why are the other credit bureaus getting the information. The common denominator would be an error within Equifax. I have experienced horrible service before, but THIS tops all. I have no idea what I can do at this point, as no one in Equifax appears to be interested in considering there may be a glitch in their system. I practically begged that someone ask the IT department to look into the issue, but each time, each individual appeared to be more worried about tying up their Average Handle Time. I even received a closed file to my online complaint, prior to speaking with the escalations department.

But wait, it gets even better. You know when you are asked before the call begins if you are interested in taking a survey. I would select yes. Because I was upset I had two separate Equifax employees who did not want me to take the survey so they tried to put themselves on mute until I hung up first. The second person, which I believe was Kate in the Personal Solutions Customer Care department, held the phone. Even though I could hear silence, I asked her was she going to allow the call to go over to the survey. She immediately came back on the line saying - sure, sure ma'am, one moment. She then placed me back on mute. I said I have all day and I will sit on the line as long as I need to. She then transferred my call to an inactive number so that I had no choice but to disconnect the call without taking the survey.

I did not get everyone's but to Gad, David(s), Wilma, Zooey, Miss Toussant, Kate, Bianca and ESPECIALLY Jamal and Chris, you all should be truly ashamed of the lack of service you provided. I plan on sharing my story with anyone and everyone who will listen. I am unable to get a home loan and still have an unresolved issue with Equifax after spending over 8 hours on the phone and 12 days after reaching out for some assistance. Equifax, you really need to take time to train employees to take ownership. You are trusted with very important and valuable information to consumers, and to show the lack of concern the way that you do is ABSOLUTELY SHAMEFUL.

Therefore I was surprised that their client information on me is incorrect and my mortgage application is delayed as a result. There are others who have confirmed this. My credit rating is excellent but since Equifax has my current residential address as the one for which I sought a mortgage for many years ago and never submitted it anywhere as my residential address, the bank is waiting for a correction and collation of two files. The process of correction is archaic and fax based. It reflects on the institution's inability to stay current with today's methods of quick communication. They show extreme reluctance in accepting that the data errors are actually faulty systems and process management pitfalls. In my case there is no one else other than themselves to blame for gross errors of information compilation.

I cannot comprehend why they do not employ the exhaustive, repetitive and often tiresome security and privacy techniques that they put their clients through to verify the dubious sources that have obviously corrupted vital data. The cost of correction and delays thereof are unfairly passed on to the unsuspecting public. Therefore the public and institutions should be aware that this organization is not to be relied on. I believe there are other credit rating companies that do a good job and Equifax Canada should be relegated to the annals of history.

A 30 point difference on my report and I don't like it at all. They really need to be reported to the Federal Trade Commission on their credit reporting and held accountable for their actions in reporting bad credit on one's credit reports. All three credit reporting companies should share and report the credit the same exact way. Just why our government doesn't get involved with this is also a shame on their part.

Equifax customer service reps are very rude and unprofessional to not do their jobs accurately. On April 28, 2017 my bank denied me of a loan I was trying to get due to Equifax having 2 files on me per my bank rep and not Equifax. So I contacted the dispute department not that I was disputing but because I needed to merge the 2 files that I had no knowledge of until my bank told me which is neglect on Equifax. So I was told that I had to fax my ID for Identity theft purposes. I never spoke of identity theft just to have my files merged. On May 2, 2017 I faxed the information and was told that I had to give them 48 hours and I would receive a letter in the mail confirming that my matter had been handled. I never got a letter.

The rep that told me that was rude and also told me that he couldn't even confirm that my fax was even received due to them working in a queue. I am in the customer service field and there has never been a time where I couldn't verify a customer's fax because it was in a queue. He would not give me any information due to him stressing that it takes 48 hours. Well today is 5/9/17 a week later and I called and spoke with a rep name Kenny and she told me that she had just pulled my fax and placed me on hold to merge the 2 files.

Finally I was able to find out what 2 files I had which were simply one was in my married name and the other was in my maiden name. I understand that Equifax is one of the 3 credit bureaus and people get divorce and remarried all the time and because of their lack of customer service performance my files were not merged together. I am not to do this but Equifax should. So Kenny said I have to allow 24 hours for the merge to be updated. So originally 48 hours turned into a week and a week has now turned into another 24 hours. This is ridiculous that a credit bureau is not doing their job but when a consumer wants to know about my credit it is easily done but when I as the person responsible for this credit have to be told lies on how long it will take in a rude fashion. Shame on you!

Kenny was the best rep I had while dealing with these people and she voiced to me that the job that was suppose to be done last week was not done but she handled the matter. If in 24 hours it is not merge I will speak with another supervisor cause the first one was rude. I am very unhappy with how I was handled! SHAME ON YOU EQUIFAX! DO BETTER! They haven't had my correct address or reporting info on file for 5 years now. How can a company be so "trusted" when the info they have is 5 years out of date? For them to change my address I had to jump through so many loops I almost gave up. This company shouldn't be trusted with such an important piece of info such as our credit history. I own and operate my own business. If I was to treat anyone of my customers this way I wouldn't be In business

This company is fraudulent. Equifax reports scores as high as 40-50 points below Transunion and Experian. My credit has been moving in the positive for over a year and my score hasn't move on point. There is now a 40 point difference between what Equifax is reporting compared to Transunion and Experian. I now make sure I ask creditors which company they use when running my credit. If it's Equifax I pass. When you call you get someone in India that is rude and has no idea what they are talking about and you can't understand them. I asked them to explain why my score has remained the same for over a year and they told me they couldn't give me that information.

These credit companies need to be done away with because they can really affect a person's ability to live. These score affect almost everything. I tried the Equifax online reporting and that is a waste of time because the information being provided is not correct. If anyone is having the same issue and thinking of filing a class action lawsuit let me know.

I reported an issue on my credit report and was informed it would take 48 - 72 hours to resolve. I even received a confirmation email that it resolved, however nothing was ever changed on my credit report. I just called Equifax AGAIN and was informed that the first time the coding was entered wrong, and there was nothing they could do except re-enter my dispute, and I would need to wait an additional 48 - 72 hours. The woman asked for my email three separate times and then informed me how important it is to have a high score to receive a mortgage and that I would benefit from their membership package, which I also already pay for. She then kept pushing me to pay for a higher cost package. Looks like they're really good at selling you stuff, and incredibly poor at actually updating and maintaining accurate records. I cannot believe this company is allowed to drastically impact people's credit with poor customer service and inaccurate reporting.

When I switched jobs, I got a different phone and phone number. Little did I know that because the phone was not in my name I was told "I'm sorry sir, we cannot complete your request without a copy of your current phone bill." I had sent my driver's license, birth certificate, income tax, passport, and social insurance. Like really!?! That's not enough proof??? I eventually just got a phone in my name and sent that in when I tried to get a car loan. The people on the phones are completely incompetent and read from a script. So they do not answer your questions or concerns. When I asked the one person how long it would take she said 3-5 business days. 6 business days go by and nothing in the mail.

I call again the guy now says from his script, 3-5 business days!!! Again!!! When I asked why, he says the exact same thing. In other words I got absolutely NOWHERE!! Just want to thank Equifax for interfering with my life in a very negative way. Oh, and who will pay the credit card interest for the deposit I put on the car that was refundable once the deal went through. I would rather deal with fraudsters that deal with you ignorant people!! When open disputes closed and I was attempting to view the results of the disputes; discussing these questions with the agents led nowhere. I have had 3 calls and 2 faxes in the past 60 days to Equifax updating my mailing address per their requested method of communication (fax). Even after calling today a 4th time to check if they mailed out the results of the aforementioned disputes, they had not done it! Unfortunately the customer service seem to not understand what is going on. Every department I speak with is unable to do anything, transfers me to another department, until eventually someone tells me what I want to hear to get me off the phone.

All I wanted was confirmation in mail form, digital form anything of the dispute closing. Yet no department is able to resolve my concern. I just got off the phone; over a 2 hour call. The last 30 minutes we're just trying to end my account. The agent asked for feedback, then proceeded to correct me, stating that they "are doing the best they can". Ultimately, the agents in every department don't have good training to deal with their own system. Agents were unable to do basic things like update my information, send me an email, send me a letter, or even answer questions about the website, where to access online dispute information, etc. My expectation for Equifax was at a minimum to have conversations with people without repeating myself 2-3 times for every proposition.

I then try to connect to my account, I wasn't able, then I try the "you forgot your password" and it didn't do anything. Then I called and the first thing I heard was that they were too busy. So I send them an email in French... because I live in Quebec city, French is my first language and Equifax Canada is based in Montreal, a city in a French province! So, the next day I received an automatic answer telling me that they are receiving an abnormal amount of requests and that I will receive an answer in the next 2 business day and that automatic message was just in English. They are suppose to at least send it in both languages.

So at the end they were saying that if I had anything to add to answer by this message... So, I send them an answer about the fact that they are oblige to answer me in French since I send them my question on the French part of their website and in french and that it wasn't acceptable to receive an automatic answer only in English! So tonight, a week after, I received an automatic messaged in English, then in french, telling me that my case is closed. I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED AN ANSWER FOR MY QUESTION! And then I received another message containing a survey in English only. OK I speak English very well but IT IS MY RIGHT to be answered in French in this country. So now I am going to search where I can make a complaint about the fact that I can't receive any answer in French.

Equifax investigates it and comes back with "we have verified this is your account". I know for a fact they did not investigate because if they had they would have discovered just as the other reporting companies did that it is a fraudulent account. Equifax is horrible. For example, if you have someone saying that you owe a Medical bill and you want to prove it isn't yours then checking the Date of Birth and SSN should be a simple way of doing so, but Equifax just claims that my name was confirmed by the Medical company. Of course I have a common name but I implored them to check my Birth date and SSN with their Medical records and they responded, "We again confirmed this claim belongs to you via your name." After reading all these reviews, it seems like this company is terrible on many fronts, primarily with rectifying erroneous items on clients’ reports. Thankfully I have not had the misfortune of experiencing that myself, I have empathy for anyone who has and inevitably will in the future. I was a paying member for Equifax premium (monthly) plan and decided I no longer need to be. My first cancellation attempt was below average, being transferred to the Philippines to a less than coherent department with lame scripted responses... was told it was successfully cancelled, however I never obtained a confirmation email I was advised would be sent.

A month later I am charged for a renewal and called back. Once I reached a representative and politely mentioning I was looking for a refund/proper cancellation. The representative told me their systems are being updated and to call back at a later time. "Conveniently" once I mention a refund, the systems go down. I advised the representative that I can wait and threatened to issue a chargeback. Suddenly, the systems functioned again. Representative affirmed I cancelled 24 days prior to the charge, apologized (which I appreciate) and advised me she will properly cancel this time. Once more, I inquired about a refund, I did not get a clear answer. She advised me that the service will be cancelled and it will remain available for another 30 days.

Here's a conclusion: Representative advises me the systems are down, just to immediately have them function after a chargeback threat? You can confirm I called and cancelled prior to an automatic renewal charge, but cannot confirm I'm entitled to a refund? I have to repeat myself many times and wait on the line to be assured I receive a cancellation email. The contents of that "confirmation" email neglects any mention of a refund or escalation process for a refund. No managers to escalate the call. No sense of intricacy, all dull and scripted answers.

Conclusion: Went through that to have 50% of my request completed when 100% of this simple request was supposed to be completed on the initial attempt. It's not the refund I'm bothered about. This company, like many others take the general public for condescending and manipulable profit prospects. They offer a service to monitor and report on credit history and reliability yet they use deplorable profit techniques on credit cards and are reluctant (at best) to rectify discrepancies. Somehow they are the ones entitled to report and judge our reliability for business?

Equifax simply refuses to correct my inaccurate credit report no matter how much I call, dispute or send documentation proving their information is inaccurate. Not only is this illegal, but it's unethical, shameful and reeks with corruption. Everything this company does, every policy they enforce, the "customer service" they provide and the interface they direct you to only leads to create dissatisfaction, confusion and stress for consumers whose livelihoods depend on the financial information they report. Equifax has cost me thousands in interest fees because they simply refuse to report accurate information. They have refused to remove a 9 year repossession from my account; they refuse to remove a collection item that does not belong to me, they refuse to provide documentation for an account that was Verizon's fault and not mine and they also refuse to report open credit card and loan accounts in good standing.

If the information is good, they take their sweet time reporting it. If the information is negative, it instantly appears on your report and if you don't pay it off in full, it is almost impossible to get them to remove it. Experian and Transunion both had the same misinformation that Equifax had, but they promptly investigated and removed the negative marks once I provided documentation that the information was false or had exceeded the 7 year mark. Every step in the process from accessing, viewing, printing and managing your report with Equifax is nightmare.

This is why they are terrible: Customer service is outsourced to people who cannot speak English well enough to understand complex financial jargon or advanced speech; Customer service is primarily automated and when you do get a human they are rigid and discourteous; The Equifax credit report (when printed) is complex, confusing and saturated with useless information that does not aid in understanding the report (I printed a 90 page credit report from them with only about 15 entries. The majority of the information was just filler information that could have been omitted).

All they did was put a comment on my credit report. So I signed into Equifax and noticed they had an erroneous address and was using a last name I had not had since divorce in 2008. Apparently the collection company I was disputing was reporting in my prior name and sending collection letters to someone in Bismarck North Dakota. I then went deeper into the dispute via the Equifax file and learned they sent an 18 page report to the person in North Dakota that included my former name(s), my prior addresses and some I did not recognize, my date of birth, my social security number and all personal information.

I called their fraud department and learned that I was reaching the Philippines and being told I didn't know what I was talking about. I asked to speak to the US and I was told they do not have phones. After some persistence and telling them with President Trump they would soon be out of a job, (LOL) they transferred my call to the US. Finally! I spoke with the person and learned I was not reaching Atlanta GA but an Equifax call center in Nevada. They did admit they sent my personal information to North Dakota, we did what we needed to, to protect me and when I asked if I have trouble where HOW DO I REACH YOU AGAIN? She stated that I just need to call the fraud department that will connect me with the Philippines and immediately ask to be transferred to the call center in the United States where they are helping me and that will get you out of the Philippine call center. I had for more than 12 years had Comcast at my home for a very modest fee of between $15 and $45 per month. I got this special as part of my job as an apartment manager for referring new residents to Comcast and distributing their literature. When I left this job I continued to reside within the same community as I prepared to move to Port Orchard to care for my father. Comcast required as I was no longer going to be recommending them and distributing their literature to close my old account and open a new one. This was not too difficult as I was changing homes anyway.

When I started my new service I WAS CRYSTAL CLEAR that I would only be residing in the Spokane Valley for about 4 months as I closed out my other affairs. The salesman asked me three times about their one year special and I repeatedly told him of my very short stay and declined so much so that he actually started to make me angry as he hyped his services in complete disregard to what I was saying. After about 5 months I vacated the apartment I had been staying at and returned my equipment to Comcast main office on Division. Imagine my surprise when the clerk I dropped my equipment with asked how I would be paying for the remainder of the year. I explained my previous exchange with the seemingly deaf high pressure huckster salesman who despite being told three times NO to his one year special had promptly taken it upon himself to evidently sign me up anyway-or so I was told.

I had the paperwork given from my sign up and showed it to him asking him to show me where I had signed for this one year, he was unable to find it as the page described only the equipment. I had paid my bill just two days before returning my equipment and so I pulled it up on my phone and showed him that as well. He acknowledged that I currently had no outstanding balance but would be subject to a cancellation fee for not going the full year. I asked again please show me the document I signed showing I accepted their one-year special and he could not furnish it. He got his manager whom reiterated the same thing at which point I again asked for the document showing my agreement to this one year contract. After several more minutes of their attempted coercion to get me to pay I left.

This is where it gets comical. About two weeks after my move and I am now living in Port Orchard I get a call from a Comcast representative. He inquired why I had cancelled my service and if there was any way to get me back. I again explained my initial sign up and my equipment return issue. I told me then the account shows no such agreement and that was Comcast's way to get me to stay with them rather than cancel. When I asked why he would be so forthcoming he explained that he does not work for Comcast but is a vendor hired by Comcast to bring customers back. I thanked him for his honesty and told him if Comcast were in Port Orchard I would consider them again based on his honest interaction. Keep in mind I had more or less been a Comcast cheerleader for 12 years and most of those had been positive ones. He thanks me and said he would make a note on the account and that he showed a zero balance due.

After more than three months more Southwest Credit began calling. They threatened me with garnishment and ruining my credit. Again, I told my story and denied the debt as being valid. I asked for paperwork proving the debt was a valid one as required under debt collection regulations. I was promptly told there was no such requirement. They have contacted me several times since with the same threats and my request has been made each time. THEY ARE REQUIRED TO FURNISH ME INFORMATION PROVING THE DEBT VALID.

Finally, after being unable to reach resolution I disputed the debt with Equifax. They denied my claim again without furnishing any proof the debt was valid. I filed a second dispute. This time I pointed out the fact that the invalid debt was also a violation of Comcast's settlement with the FCC. The FCC said it received over 1,000 complaints from customers, who said Comcast charged them for premium channels, cable boxes, DVRs or other products that they never ordered. In many cases, the FCC said, customers expressly told Comcast that they didn't want the add-on options, but they were charged anyway. Complaints also describe how customers spent "significant time and energy to attempt to remove the unauthorized charges" and get refunds, the commission said.

The complaints spurred the FCC to launch an investigation nearly two years ago. This agreement states, Under the five-year compliance plan, Comcast must begin sending customers special notifications every time a new charge or service is added to their bill. The company also has to add a way for customers to easily block the addition of new services or equipment to their accounts, according to an FCC press release. Comcast (CMCSA) was also required to compensate or address complaints from customers who have disputed charges, and it will be barred from referring an account to collections or suspending an account that has a disputed charge.

This is the second time this has been disputed under the law and my rights. Not only is Comcast specifically forbidden from sending this disputed charge to collections I am due compensation for the erroneous charges to begin with. These repeated disputes are an example of why. Despite multiple attempts to file a complaint online Equifax has made the online process impossible to complete. I have now wasted more two hours of my time disputing something that violates the specific FCC resolution. It appears at this point that Equifax is complicit. MY REQUEST IS A SIMPLE ONE FURNISH PROOF AS REQUIRED BY LAW THIS IS A VALID DEBT OR REMOVE IT.

You have to navigate a maze of listening, pressing buttons, listening, pressing buttons. Yes I know this describes a normal call center but it is intentionally long, boring, and if you mess up at any point you have to start over. Also, it takes about 20-30 minutes each time and at the end they have a bunch of options that require you to pay for services but it doesn't tell you that you have to pay until you select the number then it asks you for your payment info. Your only option is to hang up and try again on another 20 minute call. I'm willing to bet that 95% of calls are from people wanting their free credit report so they could make the system easy but then they wouldn't make profits from tricking and manipulating people!

I am going to copy this problem to the Fair Trade Commission and suggest anyone else who has experience with Equifax's shady business tactics do the same until they are forced to change. They are REQUIRED BY LAW to provide you with a free credit report and they make a TON of money from the fact that they sell your report to other people and businesses, and even back to you, plus all their shady ways of signing you up for services you don't really want or need.

So even though in the last 40 years I have only had 6 missed payments, they their program decides my credit drops for upper 800 to 653? How does that happen. Crooks.

Equifax was trying to get me to pay for my free credit report by doing what they have done to many people. They put bogus questions so that your answers are "none of the above", then refuse to give you your free credit report, claiming that your information does not match. This causes people to think that there is fraudulent activity on the credit report, and causes people to pay for the report in order to address the fraudulent activity. Unfortunately Consumer Affairs will probably block this post like they did the last post.

Here is how I got Equifax to give me the free Credit Report that they owed me: I went to Equifax.com and clicked on "Dispute info on credit report" down at the bottom of the page Where it asks for a 10 digit confirmation number. I put all 9's as 9999999999 then filled in all the information. In the text I told them that if they did not want a lawsuit that they should give me my free credit report, and remove any fraudulent activity. After a few days, I got an e-mail in response to the matter. Following the link in the e-mail got me a pdf with their response and credit report. Included in my credit report that creditors can read is my statement to them, but they changed it to all caps, and removed all of the periods. LOL.

So now every creditor that pulls my credit report will see the following: "Unless you are wanting a lawsuit I'd recommend you get this matter taken care of immediately send me my free credit report immediately and remove all fraudulent accounts from my credit report. If this matter is not resolved in good time I will be filing a law suit for your fraudulent activities." So if Equifax is playing the same game with you, try filing a credit dispute like I did.

There's nothing on the website to let you do it, and I ended up being transferred to three different numbers - each one telling me that the one they were giving me would be the right one. Then the guy on the phone tries to tell me to get an updated score now and call back to cancel since I still had two weeks on the account. I told him not a chance. The whole thing is a scam. The monthly billing for a product I never wanted in the first place and the labyrinth of calls and waiting on hold to cancel the damned thing. Well I found out of the three Equifax refers your information to other financial services without your request or consent. Which in my case caused multiple hard inquiries that I never applied for. There's one particular company over the past 1/2 years I've got about 8 inquiries. They continue to recheck it over every few months damages your credit every time. I've got over 12 in the last year 7 months, only 5 I know are ones from two. I've got a loan - 1 for a credit, 2 I denied. The rest I didn't.

They also are allowing a company to fraudulent report 171.00 dept that I never could use the service because they refused me help to hook the connection up to work. I called, asked for help. They told me no they don't provide service like that anymore. I told them on a recorded line "cancel it now." I can't pay or hire someone to come over to set your equipment up to use to my computer. Pay 260 for service to be set up with them but pay a different service to hook it up then them for way overcharges for no customer service or technical service. Poor business. At a month and a half in I attempted to cancel my subscription and even deleted all my payment info before hand as double measure to ensure I would not be billed again. Well... I received an email stating I was billed AGAIN. How? They don't even have any payment info to go off of. Apparently when my call was escalated to a supervisor (the first rep said he could not help me and only tried selling me more product after I told him I don't want their service any longer. He also talked very condescending saying I was repeating myself etc)... He said the only way to get my money back for the last month was to dispute it with my credit card company.

I ended the call telling him how stupid it is that they sell a product to protect our identity which is in part connected to our credit score... yet I have to dispute a charge and damage my credit just to get my money back. HOW DID YOU EVEN CHARGE ME?! Equifax had no payment info to go off of and yet STILL they somehow KEPT my payment info after I deleted it and recharged me. Since I have credit monitoring, I'm instantly alerted when this happens, and I automatically log into the CRA's website and start a dispute, and if they provide the phone number for the credit grantor, I immediately call to advise them it's fraud and to close the application, start an investigation and send a letter to the CRAs to have the inquiry removed. (I already have a 7-year fraud alert on my report so the application never gets completed nor an account actually opened). I have 6 fraudulent inquiries on my Equifax report, dating back to Dec of 2015, which I've disputed using their online dispute option.

I have also sent them physical letters to dispute these inquiries. I have verified with the credit grantors that they sent notice to Equifax to have these fraudulent inquiries removed. I personally called and faxed the same notices the credit grantors sent me advising me they requested these to be removed, to Equifax, but Equifax just refuses to remove them. They are stating that these inquiries are "factual record of file" despite them being fraudulent. I have been working with Experian and they have ALWAYS been very responsive with removing these and making sure I'm taken care of, while Equifax makes me feel like a victim all over again, as they are refuse to do their job.

When I call them they tell me to contact the credit grantors to have them send notice to remove these, which I have already done, and I have letters from all 6 saying they sent the request to have these removed to Equifax, Equifax just doesn't want to remove them for some reason. I have just checked my Equifax data via Clear Score (no wonder it's free!) and horrified to find that the information Equifax contain is woefully incomplete and inaccurate. Firstly they have my date of birth wrong. How on earth can a credit reference agency have the incorrect date of birth? Next they have an association with whom I haven't been "associated" with for over 8 years. Thirdly my biggest financial commitment my mortgage is not recorded anywhere on their records and I am recorded as "no mortgage".

Comically my monthly phone and broadband bill (paid diligently for over 20 years by direct debit) is deemed a "Negative" because it is considered "high" by them. I agree my phone and broadband is a rip-off but it also happens to be the cheapest deal in the marketplace which is why I stuck with my provider for so long constantly haggling down their price. Surely a monthly commitment paid in full each and every time for 20 years without a second's delay or lateness should be a positive (especially for someone mortgage free apparently!).

How can an organisation so incompetent be deemed a "Reference Agency" is beyond belief. A Mortgage not mentioned and a Date of Birth wrong is just plain staggering. Any organisation that pays this company for information may just as well throw it down the drain if they are basing loans and other credit applications on their data. I have also checked my Experian Credit Report (no I don't work for them nor am I remotely connected to them in any way shape or form) and it is meticulously detailed and deadly accurate. There is no excuse for one reference agency to have accurate up to date information and the other so hopelessly wrong.

Problem is if I was a customer I could shop elsewhere but I can't in this case. I am a captive and held hostage to their lazy incompetence. The irony is that despite these inaccuracies I still have a fairly high credit rating with them so lord help someone who is struggling. There again if my date of birth is wrong I couldn't possibly be who they say I am so that poses another security risk in how they can connect information from different lenders and agencies when the date of birth doesn't match. Seriously scary and scandalous!

He then asked me for previous addresses, which I gave him, and still "This doesn' match the information that we have on file."

He then stated to fax them Birth Certificate, Copy of Driver's License, Copy of S.S card. Copy of Marriage Certificate to prove my name change from my maiden name. Really??? This company, out of the 3 major reporting agencies is the only one that is showing anything. And then they tell you that you are not who you are. I'm going to file a complaint with the attorney general's office. Have had enough of the runaround from this company.

I purchased a new car in Feb. 2016 with Capital One with no problems, but because the dealer and I both checked my credit score my credit went down. Once again, I have gone onto Equifax to obtain my routinely disappointing report at the sum of £14.95. Once again, I received a report that a) does not reflect the present position of my credit status, to the extent that it is woefully inaccurate and b) further arbitrary deductions have been made against my profile. I no longer am prepared to accept that Equifax are a third party and rely on lenders providing information, when Experian provide a brilliant service and update their consumer reports on a daily basis.

I am no longer prepared to accept, that Equifax are allowed to have access to my information to inaccurately and arbitrarily provide incorrect reports to possible creditors. I quote "Ma'am, we can only provide the information provided by your existing Lenders." No, you provide to future/possible creditors access to a profile generated by algorithms which gives you the power to inform any Lender of my "associated risk". I am currently deemed "poor" by Equifax standards, due to the following:

    1. Electoral register - I haven't been at my present address for over 2 years (We had to relocate because my husband has a brain tumor) I asked to contest this as an arbitrarily detrimental point and was given point of contact nor resolution.

    2. 98% utilisation of available credit - WOEFULLY outdated - it is in actual fact only 47.234% and has been as such for nearly a full calendar month.

Because of Equifax's continual inability to update information, my credit limits are constantly reviewed and changed, despite over 3 years of overpayments on time and without deduction and the aforementioned recommended credit utilisation percentage.

The irony of life - you need credit to get credit, and you must use your credit - but not all of it, because inactive credit is bad. So please have fun guessing just how much and what we would like, so we can colour code you and stick a rated number on your profile... I have therefore formally revoked consent whether expressly or by way of implication for Equifax to have any access to my credit information. I am supposedly being contacted within 24-48 hours via email so I can have written determination of the same. As a consumer, I have rights. Your services were not engaged with by myself, no consent was provided by myself for you to have access to the same. I have only agree to let future/possible creditors utilise your services provided when seeking credit arrangements, but not to the original formation of a credit profile. As such, I will from this point on determine whom creditors may use to review my credit profile, to be clear, this will be Experian.

Clearly it's been reported that the wrong information is being reported by the same collection agency. Only the dates are different but Equifax wants to report a collection of almost 12,000 when it's half that and is the same collection agency. Only difference is one is October 2010 and the newly created one says December 2010. Come on. Funny how impossible you make it to dispute this? My friends tried disputing items on Equifax, also not allowed. Must be some kind of scam between them and the collection agency.

When I was advised via email that the spelling of my name had been resolved, I discovered that the email was addressed to my misspelled name. The employees are incomprehensibly incompetent, and the processes ludicrous. The onus for reparation of inaccurately reported information should not fall on the consumer. It was unfathomable that I should then have to provide personal documents to them prove I am who I have always been. I'm disgusted that this company has access to all my personal information and credit, and the ability to enforce their own rulings as they see fit. It's asinine.

When I received my credit card statement, I see that I was charged four times. Attempting to dispute the charges was a complete waste of time as I kept being disconnected or, not being able to determine if I was still connected, hanging up and starting over. When I finally did get connected, they gave me different number to call. Called that number and received a run-around. Never did get anyone to actually assist me. My Equifax is 488! There are things on that report that don't even exist and one positive thing (paid off a $6216 finance over 3 years) is listed as a negative item. I have written them numerous times and complained about them numerous times and yet they REFUSE to correct the issues. One thing on there is a claim from Comcast that came about roughly 6 months after I cancelled service with them because for TWO YEARS they did not provide me with the appropriate equipment for my service.

Finally they came to pick up everything - their service person signed off on the receipt that the equipment was not the right converter and modem for the HD channel package and high-speed business grade internet. Comcast charged me $418 + interest/fees adding up to $724. I called them and told them where they could stick that claim and they reported to the credit bureaus. After receiving a copy of the handwritten statement on the equipment receipt of the service person and my final statement balance one week prior both TransUnion and Experian removed the claim. Equifax did not. Not only didn't they, but they closed it and reopened it a few times causing repeated sharp credit drops (something they claim is necessary for reviewing the claim). Then Comcast posted and renewed as well. I think the US needs to push this evil institution out of the game here since they are obviously on the side of criminal activities.

The response was generated computer rhetoric that sometimes we get rejected due to delinquencies and we should contact the institution/company that reported them. Again, nothing showed on my report! BTW. Sears charges are through Barclays Bank and I have had charges from other places (i.e., LL Bean) and their policies were so outrageous that I closed the account. WOW! This is horrible. Ask when applying for any credit who they are checking through.

This is a legal infraction against the injunction of my discharged bankruptcy since I have not been responsible for payment since 2010. TransUnion and Experian cleared up their mistake with a single phone call. However, Experian continues to drag its feet, causing me to lose the ability to purchase a new home. I am a victim of identity theft. I needed to add security freezes to all three credit bureaus. There was no problem with Experian or Transunion. The address on my Equifax report was a fraudulent address, so I asked them to remove it and reinstate one of the other addresses as my current address. They said they couldn't do that until I faxed proof of my identity - copies of photo ID and SS card. Then he tried to sell me a bunch of products! I faxed it and was able to get them to correct the address, but I had to call again to place the freeze. All the people working there are in India or some other place, so they are VERY hard to understand!!! (I should have just done it online myself.) The woman tried to sell me a lot of products and wasn't interested in placing my freeze. I cut her off and insisted ALL I WANTED WAS THE SECURITY FREEZE.

Finally, four days after Transunion and Experian placed my freezes, I got the freeze placed on Equifax. These people are so incompetent. When this first happened I called them and asked about a freeze and the woman didn't even understand what the security freeze was. She kept putting me on hold and coming back and asking me what I wanted. I finally hung up on her. This is the most incompetent company I have EVER worked with. This is a bad thing because our credit and security is such an important issue. I hope NEVER to have to deal with them again! Experian, get a clue - hire native English speakers that have a clue.

From what I've read online, you have to send everything in by mail, and hope they respond, get a lawyer to give them the paperwork and follow up or buy their monthly service and do it online. I recently discovered inaccurate information on my credit when applying for an auto loan. My credit score dropped about 100 points. I researched the information and determined when, where and who made the mistakes. I gathered all pertinent information, typed a detailed letter explicitly explaining why the information on my credit record is wrong, attached copies clearly showing why I did not owe the money shown as a collection, and requested that Equifax revise my score. The letter was mailed on October 31, 2015 to the address provided by my bank when they informed me of my "Credit score and the price I will pay for credit."

I called Equifax customer service on Dec 02, 2015 and was told by someone who did not have a command of English that my letter had been received but no action had been taken by Equifax because I had not called them. He gave me a confirmation number of ** and went on to explain that it would take 30 days for Equifax to investigate.

On Dec 03, 2015 I talked to health insurance representative who verified that I did not owe the money because the provider reporting it as an unpaid bill is under contract with my insurance company to accept payment from them as payment in full. The health insurance representative called the medical billing office which agreed to write off the difference and inform the collection company. The same billing office promised to send a letter to the collection office today, Dec 04, 2015 and copy me.

Also, on Dec 03, 2015 I received a written notification from Equifax informing me that they had called the collection company who informed them that I did indeed owe the money. Subsequently, I called Equifax again. I asked them if anyone at Equifax had read my letter to which they replied in broken English "No." I requested to speak to a supervisor who confirmed that Equifax had not read my letter, but it had been scanned, and that is the "process". My understanding now is that Equifax only asks the entity making the mistake whether they are wrong, while totally disregarding any proof the poor consumer may provide. Will Equifax totally disregard my copy of the letter from the medical billing office proving that I do not owe the money as shown on my credit file when I send it to them?

The sales associate asked me about purchasing the family plan option. I then informed the representative that I was only inquiring for a one month view of my credit and if there was a way that I could be able to get that one month view of my credit and get my son's credit report as well for that one month I would be possibly be interested. He then quoted me the price of a one time fee of 29.95 October 11, 2015, that I accepted.

Once I received notification of the account I then logged in to review my credit report and then attempted to create a view of my sons report based upon him being a minor. The computer system would NOT let me add him to the account due to his age (17yrs) as a minor. So, I then tried to add him as an adult and got a similar error where it would not let add him as an adult.

I called back the first time to discuss my issue, however I did not get a representative who helped me to rectify my issue. Prior to the end of October, I then called in again and tried to explain the issue around the service and was advised that they could NOT refund me for the service that I was not able to use, but only cancel my service for the next upcoming month which would have been November. From, which I am very confused because I was under the impression I was only purchasing for a one month for $29.95, so I shouldn't have been getting billed again. However, I did asked for my service to be canceled. At that point I asked to speak to another person who could better help me understand why I could not get a refund if I could not use the service offered; but then only was redirected to someone of the same sales associate status.

Then once I spoke to that representative, was given another number to call back to speak to someone who was supposed to be managerial status only to find it was the another number to the same sales system. At that point this representative stated the systems were down and asked that I call back. I tried a few hours later and they were still down. So I did not call back after that day and I never got through to anyone on that date. It is Nov 27,2015 and I happened to look at my banking account, I used to pay for the service and noticed that Equifax billed me again on November 11, 2015.

So, I called back to inquire why I was billed and also informed him that I never got to use the account to view my son's credit because I could not add him, and explained all that I explained once more to the other representatives that I called prior to this and the person basically said the same thing, that he could not give me a refund as well as there was NO back record of me calling in and that he could only cancel the service for December. When I explained how disappointed and even disgusted I was in how I was treated, he explained all he could do was cancel the service for December. The same loop as before. So I did at least cancel the service and am hoping it will indeed be canceled.

I am very frustrated and disappointed in how Equifax handles situations like this, being as though it is supposedly one of the top credit bureaus. It would seem that if there are glitches in their online service system, they would take both the appropriate time to fix them; as well as be more accommodating to their customers, when errors occur that do not allow the customers properly to use the service products being sold. I feel very disappointed in my experience and don't feel that I was handled well through this process.

The Detective in my town took my report so that I could put alerts on the 3 credit bureaus through the governments' Annual Credit reporting Co. During the verifying process they asked me questions that were so obtuse that I had to keep stopping to look them up on the internet. For example, we have a mortgage with X. The question asked if we ever had a mortgage with X, Y, Z etc. I look at one and & think it is so close to mine I ought to look up to see if it is a affiliate. Turns out it is the parent Co. However, it has never been on any correspondence with our local bank of record for this transaction.

All that I know is that all branches in the surrounding town are known by the name that I'm familiar with. The name Equifax gives is one I've never seen on any Statement or correspondence. So I say "no" on the question. I Fail. Then say I have to do it by mail or then they start selling products on their website. I call and finally get the supervisor. I ask him, "well how would you choose?" He says, "well it's hard to say because it all depends on how Equifax has it listed. I don't know and I can't tell you. I hear you," he says, "but I wouldn't know what to do either." But I say I'm already a victim of cybercrime how can I know how anything is listed if I can't even get to the credit report?

I'm allowed to try again; through the Annual Credit Report portal. Now questions contain entities I've never heard of or never used. I answer NONE of the above to all. I fail again. This is a (cyber fraud case) and still active, but because of this, I am never allowed to put in the report number issued by the police Detective, so that I can put alerts on until I have the physical report. And I can't know what has been going on until I find out how these companies & or parent co are listed by Equifax! I copied the whole questionnaire and put it into a complaint letter, as examples. When I got the reply, they never referred to this copy and it was not in the return letter, it disappeared.

I went back to the site and tried to get the alerts put on. Now I have to wait for 48 hours to even see that & I get another dispute number "." Equifax, "reviews" this problem "within the hr" they email, saying, "You failed, submit all of these papers and do it by snail mail." It is a vicious cycle & Equifax keeps itself well insulated under the guise of government regulation. Now the really outrageous part! I now have a login and password so I use it and I put alerts on Equifax. This goes through--without verification! However, I still have yet to see my reports, because I'm not who I say I am??

This is their reply: "Equifax has successfully received your request to place an initial 90-day fraud alert or active duty alert on your credit file. You should receive an email notification within 48 hours that your requested alert has been added to your credit file. If you do not receive an email notification within 48 hours, please contact Equifax at: Equifax Information Services LLC. P.O. Box 105069, Atlanta, GA 30348-5069." Hours on the phone waiting and trying to make sense out of nonsense. This is blatant incompetence! Equifax allows an alert put on my account by an unidentified person ME. I'm getting kind of desperate! I tried to get my free credit reports from Annual Credit Report.com and had no problem with TransUnion and Experian but I failed the verification from Equifax. (I don't know why.) Next I filled out a form to get the free report and sent it to them by mail. That was over a month ago and I received nothing, no reply or report. Tonight, I tried the automated phone order system and got as far as receiving my confirmation # but then I was told to hang on, my call was being transferred. But then the call cut off. I contacted customer service by chat and they told me that they have my "profile" but no order on file. Meanwhile my credit card has been charged $19.45. I will try to phone on Monday but... this is ridiculous. I need the report to pre-apply for a mortgage but this has me worried that it will be hard for the bank to do future credit checks.

I've learned after dealing with Equifax over the past two years to "completely ignore" their credit report. Transunion/Experian are GREAT. Equifax has a completely different business model and non-user/non-customer service friendly! I would never request a credit report or call Equifax for any reason. It's a complete waste of time and emotionally draining.

I submitted support docs to all 3 bureaus, to update 2 accounts and had the company to update credit profile as well. Transunion/Experian updated almost immediately. It only took Equifax 9 months to update profile. This company is oblivious. I finally decided to give up on Equifax a year ago. Still get alerts from Equifax through my Transunion monitoring account. Don't look at the alerts and completely ignore anything Equifax has on my credit profile. Transunion/Experian reports are mirror images. Equifax, lost cause!

So, I'd for the sake of sanity, I'd ignore Equifax... Since I left them alone a year ago, my Equifax score has risen 80 points. But, I would never want to see the report. I know it sounds a little irresponsible. But, I have ZERO/NO confidence in this organization. And DON'T consider them a credit reporting agency. More like Red Cross on steroids. I've been fortunate with credit applications, etc... Lenders tend to look over scores related to Equifax. Or, maybe I've been lucky. Couldn't give them a Zero star - one star much too high for Equifax. This company is a lost cause. Ignore them...

I recently tried to activate a account with Equifax for 4.95. Then I was told that I couldn't because I had a previous account that wasn't active. I spoke to a rep. and he tried to access the account over the phone and give me access. He informed me he could not finalize the account because my credit card was the problem and that I had to call my bank to find out why were they not giving me access. When I called my bank, they told me Equifax charged my card 8 times. 4 times 4.95 and 4 time 19.95 and they still didn't deliver the product. Meanwhile, they told me that my card will not be charged. So much for not being charged!

There is an account listed on my credit report that has the age as 45 years and 10 months. If that was correct I was 3 years and 6 months old when I took out the loan! I filed a dispute and after 2 weeks was told it was resolved. I attempted to login to view the outcome and, like many others, it stated I am not who I say I am. I decided to attempt to get my free report via annualcreditreport.com hoping something was on there and it denied me yet again, stating I needed to fax in various forms of identification. This false information is causing me all kinds of headaches. Now I have complaints filed with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and with the Fair Trade Commission. I agree with the other posted that suggested a class action suit. Their disregard for accurate reporting is costing consumers unfathomable time, employment, money and other credit opportunities.

Called to discuss a dispute, I was told in poor English that I would have to fax my social security card and bank statement for proof of who I was. Asked about scanning and email but told "No" due to strict security procedures they would only use a fax as emails can be hacked. I faxed the documents to the fax number and was told to wait 2 days before someone would update the system with proof of my ID from the fax. Called 2 days later to be told they never received my fax despite having a successful fax transmission report. Was told to send another fax and given 3 numbers. Then told to wait up to 3 days before someone would have updated the system.

Called 3 days later, so 5 days in total waiting for them to receive a fax and update their system. They had received one of the faxes. I would be interested to understand where the other faxes ended up within Equifax, given their strict security procedures! Bottom line, staff I spoke with seemed pretty incompetent at best, the process of dealing with an issue is totally flawed and I pity anyone who has to deal with them.

I have been disputing inaccurate and outdated information on my Equifax credit report for years. Each time I dispute, Equifax claims to have verified the information, which I know they have not. Old credit cards account have been on my file for more than 15 years. I have sent proof that I am not responsible for those debts and that they are outdated, but each time Equifax will state that the debt has been verified and change the drop off date, making the inaccurate and outdated information retaining on my credit report even longer. Each time I dispute, they return a dispute result in less than a week, which tells me that they did not even research. I am now filing a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau who is the agency responsible for monitoring and regulating the three credit bureaus. Their number is 1 855 411 2372. If I don't get satisfactory results, I will be contacting an attorney for the next course of action.

Equifax Complete Premier Plan - I ordered this product on 10/23/2015. It was all fine and I got everything I needed. It was a $1 for the first 7 days then I would be charged 19.95 monthly until I called to cancel. I was charged 19.95 on 10/30/2015. I called to cancel. Every time I reached a human they hung up on me. I have called 5 times. All I want to do is cancel. It is very frustrating. I am not even asking for money back. Just cancel.

I attempted to obtain my free annual credit reports from the three providers today. I logged into AnnualCreditReport.com. The first two providers, Experian and TransUnion went just fine. I had to answer some additional identity verification questions and I obtained my reports with no problem. When I got to the last one, EQUIFAX, though, I got four identity verification questions, which were way out on left field and my logical answer to all four was "None of the above," because none of them applied to me.

When I clicked on "Next," I was directed to a page, which said that for security reasons, I could NOT get an online report, but I had to fill a Manual Request Form, and along with it, I had to send them the following: COPIES of my SOCIAL SECURITY card, my DRIVER'S LICENSE, the DEED TO my HOME, my PAY STUBS, my W2 FORM and my UTILITY BILLS. I feel that the verification questions were designed to set me up to fail - BECAUSE NONE OF THEM APPLIED TO ME. Further, I got two emails from Equifax immediately afterwards, which implied that I have an account with them, which I don't, and that I was billed for $0 FOR NOW. But then who knows... There's something fishy here. It's either gross incompetence or some kind of chicanery.

They have inaccurate dates and needs to be removed because it's been more than 7 years, both Transunion and Experian have removed them with no problems. I was able to get 1 of the accounts removed a week ago and now they reinserted it without even notifying me! They don't even list their customer service phone number on their website. Equifax is the worst company to deal with. They report inaccurate information and when you dispute the claim they verified the information. The have had an old charged off account on my credit report twice. I have disputed this countless times in 5 years. I just finally got it corrected. They have an account that was paid in full 3 years ago reported as pays 60-90 days late. How can that be when the account is paid? I have several other errors and can't get them fixed. This is causing me not to be able to get a mortgage. It's disgusting that these people get away with it. No one regulates these people.

I have been disputing the same two accounts on my credit report for the past two years. My identity was stolen and a police report was filed. I have sent my police report and all required information to Equifax at least 125 times in the past two years. I even sent in my credit reports from both TransUnion and Experian showing where they found the accounts to be fraudulent and have removed them. The people that work at Equifax are very incompetent. I have excellent credit and would not ruin my credit history for $22,000.00. This craziness has been going on for too long. I have never owned an account with Dyck O'Neal or Time Warner cable. The Time Warner cable account has been removed several times then placed back on my credit report. This is so insane.

I ordered and I got charged £14.95. Called customer support - they cant do anything and didn't give a clear explanation. Tried to convince me I chose the wrong product, as if it was not saying throughout the whole process FREE with big letters. As simple as that. If this is fair or not a scam, I don't know what it is - perhaps misleading customers or inability to explain over the phone. Thanks.

Wow! I signed up for a free 7 day trial with Experian and TransUnion to compare credit monitoring services. I've found the free services don't give true credit scores so I felt I could use a good paid service. The next day I found a similar free 7-Day trial with Equifax. I compared all services. I cancelled my trial with the first two services and knew I had an extra day with Equifax since I signed up a day later. To my surprise I was charged the monthly fee after midnight. I called to have the fee reversed and they wouldn't budge. Their trial is not a true seven days. They refused to let me talk to a supervisor and was told NO ONE had any authority to correct this mistake. Funny thing, I was considering using their service but not now. They've lost a customer and the associated monetary gain. If they had reversed this charge I was going to go with their service starting at the beginning of the month. That's a minimum of $216 per year.

I will dispute this charge but I may not win that dispute. If so I will give them their measly $18 and give Experian my money and my business. True customer service wins minds and money. Equifax lost both from me and anyone that takes my complaint to heart. There is no way to estimate how much business Equifax has lost because they disregard the customers they say they want to serve.
