Hi guys, I used to work with Equifax as a customer service representative at Sitel, Gurgaon. I would like to share some knowledge with everyone.

    1. The creditors does not check the score provided to you by Equifax. Most of them take the credit report and calculate it based on their requirements. Moreover the scores are not at all correct.
    2. The FICO scores provided by Equifax is also wrong. If anyone has any doubts, please go to myfico.com, get your FICO score, and compare it with the ones generated by Equifax and you will see the difference.
    3. The one time report is a waste of money. Instead of that, sign up for the monthly monitoring and cancel it after a month.
    4. If you find the monthly monitoring too expensive, then call up the customer service and tell that you want to cancel it and they would be asking for the reason for the cancellation. Inform them that the price is too expensive and they would provide you with a 50% discount.
    5. The credit lock feature locks only the Equifax credit report. The other credit bureau files are not locked by them.
    6. The Transunion and Experian scores generated by Equifax are also not correct. It is calculated based on Equifax scoring model.
    7. 90% of the customers are not able to get the free credit report available to them for free. The system is configured in such a way that the order fails almost every time you place it. They want you to pay for it.

    8. The disputes which are filed are also turned down unless you do a follow up. They make it really difficult.

Please read my blog, myequifax.blogspot.com, for more info.

It's close to 500 complaints now and Equifax refuses to monitor. Let's join together in a class action suit and shut them down. I had a very good score, nothing bad on credit, applied for credit card and was turned down until I got Discover, but all the attempts showed up, plus attempts to rent an apartment (with one listed as a credit transaction), and when I tried to get a free credit report online it took me through ALL my information before telling me it was unavailable (which is illegal - they MUST provide it when asked... WHEN ASKED) and to call a phone number. I called and went through giving all the information they asked and requested a credit report. They said I would have to write to an address and send in a whole slew of documents that not even a bank has ever asked for before.

Again, they refused to comply with my request to receive a credit report. Second time! Not only that, they are clearly trying to dissuade individuals from receiving their credit reports by burdening them with unnecessary loads of requirements. I think they need to be put in their place. These bureaus are regulated by acts of congress enforced by the Federal Trade Commission. Information on the FTC and the acts which regulate the bureaus and the credit industry in general can be found at: www.FTC.gov. The specific help you need may be under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. The FTC will only regulate the bureaus based on the Acts and violation thereof. If your complaint refers to these acts, file a complaint with the FTC.

Tried to get annual credit reports through Annualcreditreport.com. Equifax asked security questions about a nonexistent mortgage and a nonexistent car loan, then locked me out, and refused to send me a report unless I send copies of my driver's license and SS card through snail mail. Talk about a security risk! And of course, the only way to talk to a live person is to pay them for your report or score! What a scam! BTW, Experian and TU reports came this week in a very timely and professional manner, and showed nothing out of the ordinary. I never got my Equifax report?????? There is a big scam going on with Equifax and a lot of people getting in trouble and damaged!!!!

My husband wanted to be aware of his credit to try to improve his score. He signed up and after a few months of paying for this service, he wanted to cancel. He canceled in June of this year. We thought everything was fine until our bank account was charged in July and again in August. Not aware that these charges were going to occur, we did not have sufficient funds and were charged a $35 over-draft fee both months. Mind you that he did call in July and now again in August. We now will be reimbursed our monthly enrollment fee but not our over-draft fees. This after the guy on the phone verified that he first canceled in June. This is very upsetting... I can not afford to lose out on $70. Very frustrated.

After spending hours online to try & find out what I could do to resolve my problem with Equifax, I've found out two things: 1) There are laws to protect consumers; and, 2) See what others have done to resolve the same issues that I am having...since there's certainly no lack of complaint forums/communities on the web. Problem: 1) Equifax has been operating outside of the law since "The Big Bang", and in their own words: "...It's cheaper & easier to pay judgements against us than it is to fix the problems." So they will continue to have no regard to any/all consumer protection laws. 2) I found no lack of people with the same exact problem I'm having.

How they solved it: THEY DIDN'T - They got online & posted an S.O.S., to see if anyone out in the "ether" had an answer for them...just like I did. Well, I won't live long enough to wait for one, so I did something (had to do SOMETHING...ANYTHING! I do NOT recommend this, but I figured I had nothing to lose). I got on the FTC website and filed an "Identity Theft Report" - stating Equifax as the perpetrator! As far as I'm concerned, that's exactly what they did. My identity was fine until they got a hold of it (recap: I had no credit; but at least I didn't have any bad credit...until Equifax fabricated some, put it on my report & as a result, my application was rejected). After fabricating a bankruptcy, mortgage & auto loan, I was rejected from moving into a trailer park & now have no place to live.

Fabricating items, attaching those to the person's identity - by way of inserting them into said person's credit report - and releasing (they've even been caught SELLING consumer's info) that info, are MAJOR CRIMES! Add to that, the dire consequences (read: lives are ruined) as a result of this practice! If I did this, I'd be enjoying "3 hots and a cot", courtesy of the U.S. Dept. of Corrections! Of course they stole my identity. Maybe this will get their attention! I'll probably have the FBI at my door, but let anyone DISPROVE my argument! Equifax is laughing at the U.S. Govt and their "silly little laws", at our expense. If my government won't do anything about this, as a registered voter & 5th-generation U.S. citizen...then I will. I did! Again, kids, do not try this at home (I am a trained, professional, crazy as in: Equifax Made Me Crazy! person)!

I had cash to buy a mobile home. The park it is in wanted me to fill out an application (rental/credit). I did (2 mo. ago) & was told (July 27) that I was denied because I didn't list a bankruptcy (apparently in 2004) on said app. I didn't list it because IT NEVER HAPPENED! I was bedridden with an illness & my parents were taking care of me during that time. You have to have "A" (@ least one) creditor to file a bankruptcy against... I've never had one - not even a credit card! I've had credit unions at work & pay cash for most everything. I've never liked the idea of owing anyone anything, as I'm single, so I have to live on one income in a two-income world. Experian & TU gave me my report online & they had my info correct. Equifax wanted me to verify a non-existent mortgage & auto loan. Since they don't exist either, I now have to mail them SS card; DL; & W2 or utility bill. Meanwhile, I'm living in my driveway, because the roof caved-in on the mobile I'm renting! Since I have cash for the one I want to buy, I dreamed there would be a problem, as I'M NOT TRYING TO BORROW ANY MONEY! I'm still disabled & wonder how much longer I had to live outdoors! I don't know what action to take, since "The Powers That Be" seem to take a blind eye to Equifax. Reading everyone else's problems with them is not solving mine!

I filled out all the required info. They had imaginary loans I had to deal with. But I see in the other complaints they all did. What it boils down to is you will not get the free report, period. I have tried for several years but they always milk me for information and then say for my security send them all my personal paper, which I won't do. How in the world are they allowed to flaunt the law? What they are doing is illegal. Who is letting them slide and for what reason. Every time I talk to anyone I know in business, they say about the same thing. Political donations buy lots of things. I don't know I have never tried but I do know that I personally cannot avoid obeying the laws of this country and nothing is done about it. Anyway NO FREE REPORT!!!

I have tried to get my online credit report for two years. I have not had an issue getting my yearly free report from the other credit companies, but each time I tried to access it online, I got a message telling me I needed to provide proof of who I was before I could get a copy. I applied for a loan today, and was denied because Equifax refused to give information about me to the bank, even though since the two years I had been trying to get a copy of the report, I have bought cars, had a credit card, rented homes, etc., all without issue.

I was told I would need to call Equifax to resolve the issue. So, after I call, the person, whom I could barely understand, asked me like 25 VERY personal questions that would have been on my report and only I would know. After that, he said, for him to release my report to me or anyone else, I needed to pay for a $17.95 a month plan to monitor my report or a one time fee of $40.00. I was like, "What in the hell? I answered all the personal questions. I want to know what is wrong with my file that you won't release it to me or allow my bank to review it?" He would not tell me, only saying he could not talk to me unless I paid one of the fees.

I hung up on him, called back twice more, both times with the same story. I am livid. I looked online to realize I am not the only person they try to scam. I have no issues with my identity on my other credit reports, and I answered every question they asked me. I believe they have a scam going. I called my bank back, a military credit union, spoke to a supervisor at length. He said something was really wrong there, but I would need to resolve it with Equifax. Disappointed, I resolved myself to the fact I would not get my loan, but 30 minutes later, the bank called me back. The supervisor took it to the lending board, pleaded my case as I presented it, looked into it, and approved my loan. He said they were making a complaint against Equifax and encouraged me to file one with the FTC, which I will. They deserve to be out of business!!

I explained to the lady answering the phone that after all I went through in March someone did call me back in March, and said they had removed the fraudulent person on my file, and had updated my scores, and promised they would send me a free report and scores by mail. They were very nice, but here it is almost August, and still no report or updated scores sent to me. The lady on the phone TODAY asked me to hold on one second and she would get me to someone that could help me. What does she do but send me back to the stupid foreign customer service. I am totally fed up with this company. I feel no one is doing anything about this. Too many decent hardworking Americans are being screwed by Equifax! When I request the investigation be properly verified with my FTC rights, they tell me to hang up and call again to talk with someone else. This system fails to have the consumer's rights verified. It is in violation of the FTC and the Fair Debt Collections Act. Seems to me that Equifax has no intentions of following the rules even when an attorney is involved. I need help! TransUnion and Experian provided online reports with no problems. Also, I once applied for life insurance. Equifax sent an interviewer to my apartment building to collect info. I was not home, so they went to another apartment on my floor and interviewed a man (whom I knew) who shared his apartment with his adult son. A week later, the insurance company refused to cover me because Equifax told them my wife and I were not really married and I actually lived with another adult male! My wife was in tears!!!

I tracked down the problem by checking with Equifax, but they would NOT change their report. The insurance company continued to refuse to cover me! This is a true story - fact is stranger than fiction!

I feel the government needs to investigate this and put an end to this behavior, or revoke Equifax's license to do business, if indeed you even need a license to run this type of operation.

If you do pay and there are mistakes in, let's say the spelling of my name, it doesn't stop the payment process from going through - only the receipt of the items you pay for. Let me clarify, I know how to spell my name. My card has the correct spelling, but it doesn't match their file/ So fax this repeatedly to nowhere and maybe you will get a result. I have spoken with their dispute center reps, verified all info, and still creditors continued to tell me that my Equifax credit report remains "Locked" where no creditor can access my report. I was a paying member as well. I cancelled because of this. Creditors had no problem accessing my Experian or TransUnion reports. As a result of my credit report remaining "Locked", I have been denied credit and received a higher interest rate on a car loan. The last I spoke with Equifax, they provided me a ticket # stating the issue is due to a technical issues which is bull because they still have not unlocked my credit.

So I went to an attorney. Equifax forces people to sign up for one of their monitoring services so that you can "Unlock" your credit report. It is illegal to do this. If I provide a creditor with all correct info on an application that matches what's on my Equifax, there is no reason my credit report should be "Locked" if I did not personally request that it be "Locked". I told them to "Unlock" and they still have not done so, and are now still trying to get me to sign up for one of their monitoring services. They never got back with me regarding the ticket # they gave me as promised within 7 to 10 business days. This is why I'm bringing a lawsuit against them.

I filed a dispute with erroneous info and paid an outstanding debt. Equifax however asked me security questions about nonexistent loans (a mortgage in 2009 and a car loan in 2010, I have never financed a car and I have lived in the same house for 14 years) which had no relevance to me and then locked me out and told me I had to fill out a form and send it snail mail along with a Social Security card copy, a paystub copy (I'm unemployed) and a W-2 copy.

They sent me an email saying that I had only 30 days to complete the transaction to receive the free copy which would not be updated in that period. After that, they would charge me. I was then told by the company that I needed to call Equifax and was given the phone number. I called Equifax and one of the questions that I was asked was what was my birthday. I was told that they could not validate me because I did not answer my security questions correctly. Well after being very persistent, I finally got through verification. I found out that my birthday had been changed (thanks Equifax, I am now 8 days younger than I used to be). I asked to have that corrected and was told I would have to mail them copies of 2 identification with my birthday on them.

How many people carry two forms of legal identification that have your birthday? Oh, by the way, this is creating a security problem in me putting into the US mail information that could be stolen, duplicated and used to create a fraudulent ID. Now explain to me how the transaction with the correct birthday gets kicked back, but one with the wrong one not only got accepted, but changed it to that wrong one? Dealing with these people leave a lot to be desired. They have little concern about putting information in the mail but can't and won't accept that they have a security problem within their data collection. Somewhere they have lost sight that in taking in this data, they are responsible for the security and correctness of the information.

Now the next steps are to call all my lenders to find out which one has the wrong birthday, get it fixed there so they don't cause Equifax to change it again. Catch 22 was easy to resolve compared with dealing with these folks.

He told me that I can call back in June to see if I really want to cancel or not! I again told Sam I am not interested in the product and just want to cancel. Again, he repeated himself. Then he said, "To summarize our conversation," and now you can barely hear him speak! So I told him, "I can't hear you" and now this is starting to sound like a scam! He blamed the headset, which I find it strange since during the rest of the conversation, no problems with the headset only when he's summarizing the conversation and trying to scam me! This is extremely upsetting that such a reputable company like Equifax would do such a thing. You definitely lost my business!

Equifax denied a credit report because my information would not match their record. My account was frozen in 2009. Apparently, Equifax changed my information since it was frozen. They requested copies of my driver license and social security card, and they’re still denying a credit report saying that I can change the wrong information, apparently, created by Equifax themselves. This indicates that Equifax is covering up identity theft caused by themselves. Equifax should be taken off being a credit reporting agency for denying customers to change errors they created, implicating themselves with identity theft.

In March 2013, Equifax disclosed some celebrity accounts had been hacked. Well, I created two unique profiles with Equifax, each with a unique email known only to Equifax. Since March, both accounts have been spammed. Both accounts receive the identical message from different email addresses. These are different emails, all emailing with information only known to Equifax. So much for identify theft; they are the thieves. So, the company which advertises "Identify Theft Protection" in fact disclosed my identify and I have to guess, all my confidential information to persons unknown.

The error message said that I had already accessed that report today. Since I went to their site for the first time from AnnualCreditReport.com, I could not have accessed my report, not even a little bit. They provide no way to contact them other than by mail. I have tried that in the past in order to dispute information and they have never responded, not once.

If you try to use their online form, it times out. I believe that this is intentional. They do not in fact provide any sort of protection to consumers. In fact, they condemn consumers without trial. They are the sole judge, jury and executioner when it comes to your ability to apply for loans and do business. There is no appeal process. I have seen interviews with their poorly paid foreign workers on PBS where they admit to simply throwing out any disputes. The staff says that it's corporate policy because there is no mechanism to actually investigate a dispute.

First of all, I would like to say I'm disappointed that our most vital credit information has been outsourced from America to a foreign country. In the past two days, I have called Equifax 9 times. Each time, I was told a different story. I have had an account with Equifax for several months. When I tried to access my account online, I was denied that access. I called customer service and was told that I could not access my account until I paid more money, although I was already paying $16.95 a month. I then tried to explain that there were a couple of issues I would like to discuss with a representative about my credit. Again I was rudely told that they will not access my account until I paid an additional fee.

I asked to speak with a supervisor. The supervisor was just as bad as the first rep I talked to. Then I called back and told another representative how unhappy I was with the service, and he put me on hold. He came back and said they would refund my money to my card. I agreed to upgrade my plan. I gave them my card number, and then was cut off. So again I called. Of course, they had no record that I had upgraded my plan. So after several calls, I gave up. Today, I called and was given the same runaround. Also, they said they needed to update my personal information in order to allow my plan to be upgraded, and to be able to pull my credit information online.

Okay, so I was given another 800 number to call. I called that number. I was asked the same questions again. Then I was told that the consumer affairs department was not able to take calls because no one was there. "Do what?" But I was told that some other person who had a foreign name was under my account also ... Oh great! I wonder what kind of information that person got off my file! I'm not through with this. Somebody needs to put this company out of business and soon!

This is what happened to me: At AnnualCreditreport.com link from md.gov website, I was not able to obtain my free annual credit report from Equifax. No problems with TransUnion and Experian. Equifax did not provide me with even the view of my consumer credit report. (I did make a complaint on the AnnualCreditReport.com site about this incident.) Then, Equifax sent me an e-mail. Wow! What a shock to read that without my knowledge or consent, Equifax enrolled/registered me in its credit reporting service. The Equifax enrollment e-mail claimed that I had received a free credit report when in fact I did not.

Now, I'm trying to cancel the fraudulent service enrollment. From my experience, I suspect Equifax treats the Fact Act (FCRA) as a marketing tool to bamboozle folks into paying for an Equifax credit product/service. I'm disgusted with Equifax and sickened by the behavior of the company in all of the other personal stories I've read at this site. I've complained to Equifax, AnnualCreditReport.com, BBB and intend to follow-up with CFPB (consumerfinance.gov) and MD State Commissioner of Financial Regulation. Equifax had a much lower score than the others. I have excellent credit and they showed me just above average. I thought maybe the free site that was selling other products had just cobbled something together to get me to look at their site, so I called the number on my letter from Equifax and gave them my CC number for the $7.95 report. It was all a programmed discussion, no humans. As soon as my CC card passed, they said, "Your CC has been accepted, here is your confirmation number. Please wait one moment to be transferred to a representative," as if some human would give me my credit score. Instead it disconnected me.

I had to chase phone numbers for 20 minutes to get to talk to a human in India who could not understand my West Coast accent. Then she said, "Oh, I see you purchased it. It will come in seven to 10 business days." There was nothing on their site, while giving my info that said that. It had strictly been pushing buttons or saying "yes" or "no." So, since I have a bogus credit score by Equifax, and the other two are right in the 800s, I'd say stay away from this company. Take a look at the complaints against them. Well over 500. Does that tell you something? I did ask for a supervisor, and the person said they didn't think one was available. I waited and waited and gave up. This company just has to go away. Complaints about this have been filed with the following agency: Federal Consumer Finance, Federal Trade Commission, HUD, Federal Banking, FBI (fraud for mortgage), just to name a few. Argent, the original writer of my mortgage, was fraudulent to start with. This company is the only one so far to have their vice president to go to jail for this. Their sister company was used to cover up these fraudulent loans by transferring them from Argent to Ameriquest before the first payment was due. A class action lawsuit in California found these transferred properties illegal.

My mortgage was charged excessive broker’s fees confirmed by the Federal Reserve Bank. They also charged interest from day one of the loan (this is on the closing cost). I was charged over 10 percent of my loan for closing cost. I never was given an estimate of closing cost. No copy of contract. A 2-year clause for refinancing with no disclosures on cost (no waiver for this when transferring), and this was also a high interest loan for over 9 percent. These transfers were done two different times. Signing was done in January of 2004 - by March, transferred to Ameriquest (tried to transfer) - never transferred class action lawsuit.

Equifax is not reporting Argent as mortgage holder, but they are reporting Ameriquest, which is a good report but outdated. By May, when Ameriquest was being sued yet again, my loan was being transferred to Litton Loan Servicing. A forged document was sent to me by Litton Loan Servicing. My signature is not notarized and is a copy of original document signed, dated, and time stamped by the 39th District Court. This was sent via certified mail to all three credit reporting companies. They refused to take Litton Loan Servicing off my credit report. I filed complaints with the Federal Trade Commission as well as Federal Consumer Finance and IRS. IRS was not given correct amounts paid for each year.

All my payments to Litton Loan Servicing were made through Western Union. Copies of this were sent to all three including Equifax by CFPB (Federal Consumer Finance). Equifax is claiming they got no proof of fraud. Equifax was told to remove Litton Loan Servicing from my report. Meanwhile, they are trying to sell to yet another company. This is then placed on my credit report to replace Litton Loan Servicing with a note saying they are foreclosing on my property. They sent me a notice from an attorney’s office outside of PA. I, in turn, sent a letter to them under constitution’s laws, Truth in Lending and Fair Trade Act as well.

They are reporting a mortgage delinquency on both our reports for May 2008 and on my husband's report, only for October 2009. This is a joint account; shouldn't reported info be the same on both reports? Neither delinquency ever existed! I first tried disputing this information with them, and they simply ignored me. So I tried a second time and was ignored yet again. I then reported them to the BBB for failing to acknowledge me and then I got a response. Equifax denied owning the report and shifted the blame to some company known as CSC Credit Services for making corrections.

I disputed the issue with them 4 times, and each time, they claimed to have investigated and came to the conclusion all reporting was correct. They refused to make changes. I provided several pieces of evidence to the contrary and I don't believe they bothered looking at it, let alone doing any type of investigating. My mortgage company denies anyone from Equifax or CSC Credit ever contacted them and the mortgage company denied even ever hearing of any company called CSC Credit. I filed several complaints with the BBB, only to have the BBB close my case claiming it was administratively settled in the company's favor.

This error on both our reports has prevented us from refinancing and obtaining credit. We asked for monetary damages and have once again been ignored. We have a letter from our mortgage company stating they have never reported any negatives to our account, yet Equifax/CSC Credit refuse to correct this. They claim to get all the info from the mortgage company. But if the mortgage company didn't tell them this info, where did it come from other than a major and damaging mistake on the credit bureau's end?

On April 19, 2012, I requested all three credit reports from www.annualcreditreport.com. Transunion immediately issued my credit report - no problem. Experian, after several requests (letters back and forth) and corrections of false information, issued and received a copy of my credit report on June 7, 2012.

Now, for Equifax. The original request to Equifax netted me an answer that said, "Thank you for your order. Your transaction code is **. Please make a note of this number or print this page; the transaction code will serve as record of your order." The next paragraph read as follows: "Your free annual credit report is now available for printing or viewing. Please print your report now as it will only be available for you to review and print during this session with Equifax." There is a link to click that reads "View and Print your report" and you are supposed to click the "Get Started" button to receive your credit report. Right next to this button, on the same line, there is something that reads "Create an account to access Your Report for 30 days" with a button that also reads "Get Started." Blah Blah Blah "with this special one-time offer."

Okay. So I click the first "Get Started" to get a copy of my "free" copy of my credit report. No report. It was suggested onscreen to either call www.annualcreditreport.com or send in the pdf form with the requested information. I requested both Experian and Equifax. Experian sent me three requests for the same information three times which I had submitted on their first requests. However, Experian did finally send my report. Keep in mind that my original request was dated April 19, 2012. Since I had not heard from Equifax, I contacted the Federal Trade Commission to complain, called the Better Business Bureau, and my senator in Washington, D.C.

I finally found a number to call Equifax. I spoke with someone with a very thick foreign accent, "Ariel," that I had a hard time understanding. I gave her my 12-digit transaction code which was supposed to "serve as a record of your order." Ariel asked for three addresses for "security purposes." After I would supply the addresses requested, she would repeat her request for my addresses. After the fourth time, she asked for my addresses - again, finally in the background, I could hear conversation, and she switched to asking me for my middle initial, which I supplied to her. After I gave my middle initial that I was born with, I was told by "Ariel" that my middle initial was wrong. Okay. Now, I don't know my own name.

Long before this point, I am fuming mad. I told her I called the aforementioned organizations and threatened to call more, until my issue was resolved. She gave me a fax number and requested personal documents to be sent in by fax. (I don't have a fax machine so I had to spend around $10.00 to send the requested information which is insane for a "free" credit report.) I submitted the fax on June 1, 2012, and called back after three business days to request my free credit report as instructed by Ariel.

On June 11, 2012, I received by mail a one-page "Credit File" with a confirmation number, which was different than the "transaction code" that I was given on April 19, 2012 (the original request). This read in part "The Results of our Reinvestigation." I didn't ask them to investigate anything. I requested, per the FCRA, my free credit reports according to my rights as a United States citizen. "We have reviewed the identification information." On this "Credit File," Equifax confirmed my correct name, Social Security Number, birth date, and current mailing address. Thanks, Equifax! If it weren't for your organization, I wouldn't know my own identity!

I requested my full credit report. I called the number listed on the "Credit File." I spoke with someone named Johnny, with a heavy and very fake southern accent. Johnny informed me that I had already received a copy of my credit report on April 19, 2012 from www.annual credit report.com. I asked Johnny how come Equifax claims to have sent me a credit report on one hand on April 19, 2012. But they, Equifax, also says they did not send me a credit report because I could not supply them with the correct answers to their security questions.

I asked him if they received my fax, which receipt had already been confirmed by an earlier Equifax employee. I, of course, informed him that the "Credit File" they sent to me states information that was included on the fax. Then, he tells me, "Oh, we (Equifax) sent you a "complimentary" copy of your credit report on June 6, 2012 by mail and you should receive it in 7 to 10 business days." I asked, "Since I submitted the request several times and supplied them with the requested information, why couldn't I receive this information online?" "Oh, you'll have to pay for that service." Equifax says they can only give you your free credit report by U.S. Mail. Johnny just dismissed my mentioning the FCRA with a small laugh. At this point, I asked for a supervisor. Johnny said that he was a supervisor and no one would be able to help me with my request.

Here's one of my questions. It costs money by mail to send something out. The report was not being sent by registered mail or anything so there was no confirmation. Online would be free - wouldn't cost Equifax anything. Go figure. I have read all over the Internet that people have complaints about this company and their terrible customer service. So snotty and at the end of the conversations, they end it with a, "Is there anything else I can help you with?" Else? Else would imply that they had helped "with" something "else."

I don't believe I will ever receive my credit report from Equifax. This is in direct violation of the Fair Credit Report Act of 2005 which does say that every American is allowed a "free" credit report once a year from all three bureaus. Why can't all the people in the United States get together a giant class action suit against Equifax to make this company do the right thing? I am very serious about this. If all the people who I see complain about this company online are for real, why can't we sue them as a united front and make them stop?

Poor service from a rep at Equifax - I paid a judgement from 2005 in full in Oct 2009, and paid the bill. It was a small claim suit. It was resolved and paid in full. Three years after paying it in full, I see the judgement on my credit report! The court never contacted the credit company, Equifax! So I called to resolve by calling the dispute dept. Because I'm going for a new job, they need my credit report. Lei from the dispute department said even though paid in full and they would investigate, it would not be removed for 7 years. I told her, "Then you have to show 'paid'," and Lei refused to let me speak to her supervisor, or give the name of a supervisor. She should be fired! It's illegal for them to not dispute a claim, then not let me speak to a supervisor. I'm going for a new job; I may not get hired based on this.

When the number, 866-238-6559, is called from any phone any time, a recorded message states that: "the date of my credit file is older than 60 days." Impossible, as the file is dated April 25, 2012. Do not purchase the Equifax trial offer unless you want to be charged monthly. It is nearly impossible to cancel! I called the next day after purchasing the report so that I would not forget to cancel and receive unexpected charges in 30 days. The CSR spoke terrible English but well enough that I could understand him as he asked for my SS#, my birth date, my father's middle name, my address, my phone number, my email address. I truly hated giving all of this information over the phone. You think Equifax, a company exposed to identity theft protection on a daily basis, would understand how adverse most people are to giving this kind of information to an unknown, even if I am the person who called them!

Anyway, it was impossible to cancel with this guy. He rambled on and on and I just gave up. I called again five days later, determined to cancel. Another CSR, who could not speak English well, asked all the same personal questions. So ridiculous! Finally, I got to a point where I started ignoring whatever reasons he was giving me for staying with them (extra free month, blah blah blah) and rambling myself about how insane it is that they ask all those personal questions. I ended each "ramble" with, "I'm going to cancel no matter what, so please just give me confirmation that my account is cancelled." I had to say this about three times before he finally gave in and very dejectedly gave me a cancellation number. Fifteen minutes later, I checked online and my account is cancelled! Thank God! Make sure you get a cancellation number from them so they can't dispute your cancelling the account! I hate Equifax and will never, ever buy anything from them again. Awful, awful, awful!

Stolen Identity and No Help from Equifax: I recently found out that someone stole my identity, and opened 5 accounts, totaling around $12,000 using my identity. I immediately reported this information to Equifax, along with placing fraud alerts on my report, disputing all of the accounts, completing an affidavit with the FTC, getting police reports, etc. I took every step that I was told to take in a case like this. After finding out that my entire tax refund was taken, due to a loan that I never opened, I broke down mentally. I made numerous calls to Equifax Dispute Department, product departments, and they literally transferred me to over fifteen different places, and still no help.

I am a member with Equifax, and have Identity Theft Insurance, that I was promised on several occasions. I am supposed to be reimbursed for lost wages from work, and fees that occurred as a result of the loans. As a victim who is already frustrated and mentally drained from the headache of collaborating all of this information and faxing to this place and that, they have absolutely no sympathy. My entire identity has been stolen from me, and my credit is ruined. My life has been taken from me and the one company that should be honoring their word in such a sensitive case refuses to properly handle my case. I explained to them numerous times that I am losing money because I cannot mentally perform the duties of my job under this burden of stress, but they have no care in the world. I have reported them to the FTC, and I suggest anyone who has been mistreated the same way should file a complaint as well.

Having to reestablish your credit and identity is a very difficult thing to do, and they have not made it easier for me at all. I will be having my lawyer file a lawsuit against Equifax, for direct violation of the FCRA. They have not handled my case as instructed, and I plan to put a stop to this pain and mental anguish they have added to me. Just today, I have made 11 phone calls to Equifax, along with the ID Theft Insurance Department 1866-IDHELP2. Not only have they been unsuccessful in helping me but they claim to have no knowledge of who can.

This is absolutely ridiculous, and a direct insult to me, as a victim of ID Theft, and the millions of others who pay for a membership, but do not reap the benefits of the service we are members of. Who do they think they are? You take my money from my account every month, but when I actually need to use your service, you shut the door in my face? Expect a lawsuit! No one deserves to be treated this way, especially while going through something this serious and heart-wrenching. For those whose lives have been turned upside down due to ID Theft, do not give up. I'm the victim of identity theft that took place 6 years ago. If you know anything about identity theft, you also know what a nightmare it is getting these types of information removed from your credit file. I've spent literally hundreds of hours on hold with Equifax in failed attempts to find resolution. I have a file that is well in excess of eight inches thick as a result of online disputes and "adjusted credit files". All to no avail. Equifax is, by far and without exaggeration, the most deplorable company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with.

Here are just a few examples:

My identity thief used several erroneous addresses to obtain goods and services in my name. After the bogus accounts started to show up on my file, I responded with several online disputes resulting in a plethora of confirmation numbers, emails, and a stack of snail mail. However, this did me no good because the thief used my identifying information, which, by the way, is the only thing that will keep a bogus file connected to your name. Go figure. So, instead, I disputed the actual addresses he used as not mine. This worked for getting the addresses taken off my file. But the bogus accounts remained. I moved to dispute these accounts again, but when I called to do this (the online option kept kicking me out of the system), I was told that, "Because you've disputed the addresses, any credit accounts associated with those addresses are no longer accessible to you because you can't verify the address they are under”! What? Are you serious? Now, I don't even have the right to dispute information on my own file.

Here's another example. At the onset of all this--6 years ago--I placed a fraud alert on my file in a failed attempt to thwart any further identity theft. (You're going to love this). Because it's there, I can't apply for credit anywhere without getting turned down automatically. Sure, there's an option to add a statement where you can require any potential creditor to answer. Say, a security question or even call you on your cell phone, but creditors aren't allowed to tell you why you're not approved only that they will be sending you a letter in the mail stating that you are not approved and why. Great! I already know why.

So, I contact Equifax again and demand that my extended fraud alert be removed from my file. Now, they want documentation that I am you I say I am. So I send it in but because my identity documents don't match the same ones that the thief used, I’m denied! **? I call again and raise hell. They finally removed the alert and ask me if there's anything else that I need to dispute while I'm on the phone. Of course there is! There are all those bogus accounts I mentioned before. We, again, dispute each one as fraudulent (like it did any good in the first place). I get a copy of my file in the mail. Now, the fraud alert is not only still on there, but it’s been renewed for another 7 years! Aargh!

I call again and I'm now told that each time I dispute any item as being fraudulent, a fraud alert is automatically placed on my account, stopping me from being able to even apply for something as simple as a cell phone. What a ** nightmare! I'd be better off buying some black market I.D., social security number, and credit cards in a completely different name and starting over from there! This has gotten so bad that I have to become an identity thief just to have a ** identity!

I called and talked to Diane from collections, and tried to explain to her that this was an old debt from 2004, and asked her to modify the date, and remove it from my file, as this was 8 years ago. She then told me I would have to contact my bankruptcy trustee, and have them deal with it. I informed her that I had been discharged since 2005, and they needed to confirm the last date of activity, and adjust the date accordingly.

She then became rude and hung up on me. On Feb. 27, I talked to Diane's supervisor, whose name is Annie **, and explained what I needed her to do. She asked me if I was getting another payday loan, and if that's how I found this on my credit file. I explained to her that I had ordered a copy of my report, and that she needed to confirm the last date of activity on that account. She then told me that they received thousands of files from the cash store, and didn’t have time to confirm everyone's information, and said I needed to call them myself.

She was rude from the beginning of our conversation, and had no interest in solving the problem, or confirming the information. When I asked if it was normal to put things that weren’t confirmed onto one's credit report, she hung up on me.

One that doesn't connect to a computer controlled robot? Perhaps this is an attempt to raise revenue by rigging the system to get people to pay for something that is supposed to be free.

I just got my free annual report from Equifax. I disputed an inquiry made by GEMB (GE Mortgage Bank, I presume) that I didn't authorize but is shown as being authorized by me. I have never had any contact with GEMB in my life and made no applications for credit any time within months of the reported inquiry. When I have disputed items like this with Experian, they have contacted the creditor and in every case, have thoroughly researched the dispute and either fixed the item on the report or given me a reasonable explanation of why the item is on the report - every time!

In this case, Equifax simply reported back that factually, this is the way the item was reported to them. They didn't even bother to contact the creditor and told me that I have to contact the creditor myself if I want to investigate this inquiry. Why should I have to investigate something that is an obvious screw up between Equifax and the creditor, who I've never had any dealings with? That's the job of Equifax, just like what Experian has always done. Equifax is obviously only in business for the creditors with no interest in the consumer at all. Totally worthless service for us consumers!

Every time I try to get my report I can't get it not unless I go through Equifax monitoring site and I have to pay every time. That is the only way I can see my report! I had this problem sometime back in 2000 and I filed a complaint with you because they wouldn't release my credit report.

When I finally seen it there was so many mistakes on it I could not believe it. They had about 7 different Sharon ** on my report and none was me. I sent in a copy of my social plus ID to correct my credit report and your company sent me a letter saying I can file action against the company. I did not want to do it at that time because I felt that I should let them correct the problem and they did, but now I am going through this again and it is unfair to me. I want to make sure my credit report is accurate. If you can please resolve this matter, I will appreciate it.

The lady at Equifax wants me to fill out all this paperwork and fax them copies of my SSN, driver's license and copies of two current bills and sign a form letter asking to add my telephone number. After speaking to 7 managers and throwing a raging fit, they finally added my number on the phone. Not a good way to do business and they should be ashamed. I guess I should've filed a Chapter 7 and not pay any of the creditors back if I knew I would receive the same penalty. Transunion & Experian have removed the Chapter 13, but “good old” Equifax is going to penalize me for another 3 years. I do not think Equifax should be allowed to make up its own rules. There really should be some laws that govern consistency between all 3 credit companies.

I see so many complaints about Equifax that it's sickening. By far, Equifax is the worst of the big three. The biggest problem that I see is there is too much complaining by consumers. You have the right to sue Equifax or any credit reporting agency. The fact that so few consumers are suing provides a big incentive for Equifax to continue with their profit schemes. Tips:

    1. Download the text of the FCRA "Fair Credit Reporting Act" and become familiar with it.

    2. Dispute inaccuracies in your credit report. Keep a record of any correspondence that you send. If you file a dispute online, record the dispute using screen recording software like CamStudio so they can't later say that you never filed a dispute. If you dispute by mail, do so using certified mail, return receipt requested. When you dispute, the CRA has 30-45 days to complete the investigation. When done, they must provide with a notification of the results and if something changed, they must also provide you an updated copy of your credit report showing those changes. If you receive a notice saying an item was updated or deleted but you don't get an updated credit report, the items probably weren't deleted. Ask for a corrected credit file.

If they don't provide one, purchase one from them to see if the items were deleted. At this point, you have a case if any of the following happened: You did not get dispute results within 30 days (max 45); they did not complete an investigation of your dispute at all; they provided results of a change without a copy of a corrected credit file; they provided a copy of a corrected credit file but the items they claimed to have been corrected have not changed or an item that was supposedly deleted is still there; they reinserted an item that was deleted and didn't notify you of the reinsertion.

    3. If the CRA fails to correct wrong information, you have a right to sue. Learn how to put a basic complaint together and how to have a complaint and summons served. The CRA must answer (usually within 30 days). If they do not, ask the court to enter default judgment against them. You are entitled to statutory damages of $100-$1000 for each negligent violation (if it caused actual damages) or for each willful violation regardless of any actual damages. You're also entitled to costs of the suit. Note: There's a good chance the CRA will remove a case to Federal Court if it appears you have a case and you refuse to accept a small settlement (assuming they contact you and make an offer). Rules are similar between state and federal court, but federal is a little more formal. However, if you are not represented by an attorney, you won't be expected to draft legal documents just like an attorney would do.

    4. If you are completely lost when it comes to drafting complaints and how the legal system work, search the internet for samples of complaints, etc. If you want some in-depth training, I'd recommend a course from jurisdictionary.com which goes for around $250. It was developed by an attorney who apparently became sick of the corrupt judicial system (the judges). Remember: Judges are not gods and attorneys aren't the smartest people on the planet. They possess knowledge of legal procedures and they know most of us do not. To have some leverage, you should get somewhat familiar with the law and the rules of legal procedure. This information is publicly available.

If more people don't stand up and fight against companies like Equifax, HSBC and companies like them, they will never be deterred.

The woman had such a heavy accent that I could barely understand her. She kept going on about the product, and she convinced me to stay on for a reduced rate. She asked for my card info and said she needed to confirm and said my new billing date would be January 29. Then she said, "Okay mam, I just charged your card for the $12.95 and your new billing date will be February 13." I said, "Why did you charge my card?"

I said that I already paid for the entire month. I asked her to reverse the charge, and she put me on hold and never came back to the call. I called back, and I went through the same thing. The man on the line kept reading a script and kept trying to keep me from canceling. i just kept saying "Cancel my service." Finally, he did and seemed very annoyed. I think they get penalized if someone cancels. Bad, bad business practices. I now have to call back once the charge comes through and try to get it refunded. I believe Equifax is engaged in a complex form of extortion, where they hold the creditworthiness of consumers hostage while making millions on monitoring tools and programs designed to help "improve" the score over which they have complete control. There is no way this is not a conflict of interest.

Here is my recent personal experience:

I pay Equifax Complete Premier Plan $20 every month. I closely monitor my credit in hopes of buying a house one day. I make over six figures, and have plenty of savings. I have very little debt. My credit score is 577 today.

One of the items I corrected on my report was a car loan on my credit showing 'Skipped, balance owed, charged off'. It is important to note that I never missed a payment, and this account was paid in full. So I called the leasing company and they corrected it to 'Pays as Agrees, Zero Balance'. Please keep in mind, I pulled my credit through Equifax the day before the information was updated, and my credit score was 586. There were no other changes to my credit, and when the auto lease company changed my account status to "Paid as Agrees, Zero Balance" my score immediately went down by 9 points. My conclusion is that Equifax is a scam, and they are basically extortionists. They provide no benefit to humanity, and the sum of their business model is to randomly push numbers around and occasionally obfuscate changes to credit to make sure people can't figure out their computation process.

I am still unable to get a home mortgage after several years of trying to improve my credit score. Lenders were lending at 580 back when I had 560. Now they are lending at 600 when I am at 580. I can't win. I have young children growing up in apartments when their friends live in gorgeous houses that their parents can't afford and I can. *** Equifax.

Equifax is the most difficult company to work with. When you call a number in Atlanta and you happen to get through, they quickly transfer you overseas to people that can only read a script. No matter what you say to them, you get the same answer back. I admit that I had some problems in the past but have taken great steps to improve my score so my wife and I can build a house.

So now the problems, I have a report from Club Wyndham showing a year's worth of timely payments. I wanted it included in my credit file but Equifax says that since club Wyndham doesn't pay them a membership fee, they won't add it to my file. Where is the fairness in that? I have a good report but it comes down to the mighty dollar. It just shows that they don't care about the human side. My other problem is that I am struggling for every point and today when I checked my report (which I do often), I noticed they dropped me two points. Nothing else has changed. It's like they just drop it on a whim. Of course, calling them just gets you another overseas agent named "Jacob" or "Mary" that do nothing for you.

First, let me say the one star rating is only because not selecting any stars is not a valid choice when filing these reports.

I initially contacted Equifax on 12/30/2011 to check the status of a dispute I had filed for correction on my credit report. Upon informing me of the current status, the representative immediately began his sales script for Equifax Complete Advantage monitoring service. We discussed this in detail and I told him that I had been dissatisfied with my current monitoring company since they changed their policy on updating of all 3 credit scores from once per month included with the $14.95 per month to now charging $9.95 additional each time you desire to update all 3 scores.

The representative assured me that this would be included in the plan, he was telling me about for $16.95 per month. He took my credit card information and personal information and gave me a log-in name and the Equifax Solutions Phone Number that he stated to be 24/7 assistance. I asked about a password and the log-in link, to which he answered that he was sending an email with that included.

I checked later that day and no email so I attempted on 12/30 and 12/31 to call the provided 24/7 phone line and never got beyond the automated call forwarding selection.

Finally today, 1/2/2012, I got a human on the phone and after going through the verification process (in which I was told that my favorite sports team answer was wrong, go figure, I have been a huge U of A Crimson Tide fan since as far back as I can remember, maybe 1970). This rep was able to get my account information emailed to me. Found out the rep that sold this service to me had entered the email address almost backwards.

While waiting for the confirmation email, the representative was talking apparently from script about the details of this service and I found out that I would not be able to update all 3 credit scores unless I wanted to pay $3 more. We discussed this for several minutes, before I requested to speak with a supervisor. I was placed on hold for over 30 minutes, meanwhile, I logged into their site finally and found that when I selected to update all 3, I was given a click to accept box to be billed $29.95 for this update.

After over 30 minutes on hold I felt that I had simply been place on "perma-hold" and not transferred, so I hung up and called back.

Once again, I was on the phone with another representative this time to cancel their services and request a refund due to being sold something under false pretenses. Once again, I had to deal with script, and being told that with this package I could receive a free copy of all 3 credit reports and scores once per year. What a joke, everyone is entitled to a free copy once a year without ever using any of these credit monitoring services. I told the rep that in fact I could get a free report once per year with-out giving them roughly $200. She attempted to tell me that consumers cannot get free copies of their credit reports. After having to get rude and interrupt her scripting, I convinced her that I did indeed desire to cancel.

Then I got more script that since I had paid for services, I should take advantage of it for the remainder of the month. After telling her that I did not want their services as they were not what I had been sold and if she could not or would not refund my money I desired to speak with a supervisor. I finally got her to cancel (hopefully) and to refund (hopefully) my money. I should know within 7-10 business days as she put it. I will know before the end of the week because I will go to my bank and have this taken care of.

I personally think it is garbage that a company that holds the consumers credit scores in their hands are allowed to operate in such a despicable manner. There should be a way that the Credit Reporting Bureaus have their creditability ratings reduced. Equifax is the worst of the 3, I have had to file disputes on numerous items due to having been a victim of identity theft, Transunion and Experian both have handled these disputes efficiently, however it is almost always an uphill battle with Equifax.

One such item I have been disputing since 2006 was a judgement where my ex-wife forged my name on a contract. The judgement originally was ruled against her and me in small claims court and was appealed in the local circuit court, which ruled her solely responsible. When she finally paid this of in 2007, Transuion and Experian updated them as satisfied (apparently, if you ever have a judgement, even if it is over-turned they don't take it off). Since that time, I have been disputing and requesting this be updated with Equifax, now finally 5 years later it is updated to paid.

One account that is false dropped my score 37 points. The collection company also pulled hard copy of my credit 3 times in 1 week, which further dropped my score. It is completely unfair that collection companies can do this to people. I can go to public data.com and get anyone information, SS number, DOB, etc., and claim an amount owed to me and can ruin people. No wonder, identity theft is such a thriving business. I also recently found out as this collection company did go to court house and got all my personal information. The reason I believe this is that the questions asked involved third party family members, even though the standing of the relationship between those family members has not been determined.

Many incidences of identity theft are committed by family members, so why in heaven's name would an "identity verification" involve third party family members outside of the account? A proper "identity verification" should only involve the parties involved in the account and no third parties!

I recently noticed a charge on my credit card for Equifax. Knowing I had canceled their service, I immediately called to find out what was going on. I was advised that someone had obtained my credit card number and obtained credit information on three different occasions. I was advised the credit information was not mine, but someone else, but my credit card and old Equifax account was used to obtain it. The company agreed to refund my three charges of $14.99, but would not tell me who used my card. They stated I needed a police report and they would provide me or the investigator with the information.

So after canceling my card and placing a credit alert at all three bureaus, I obtained a police report. I notified the company that I had the report and requested an address to send it to. It was at that time I was informed they needed a subpoena to release the information. I was floored. I asked the supervisor I was speaking with, "you are telling me that I need a subpoena to get the name and information for the criminal who stole my credit card number and used my closed Equifax account to steal credit information on someone else?". Her reply was yes. I couldn't believe it. A company who boast how they protect you from criminal activity and yet they are protecting a criminal over a true victim.

Of course, that's when I was informed by the supervisor that they were not Equifax, but a third party company who did the sales. After getting nowhere and becoming more frustrated, I hung up and I'm getting the subpoena they need. On a side note, as I was ** about the experience, a co-worker informed me that he also had a charge from Equifax which was not authorized and is also pursuing the issue. During my two-day conversation with the company, I learned that I am not the only one. Evidently, according to them, this has happened to many, many people. And of course, they were all required to jump through the hoops to protect themselves. It's bad enough that one must go through the hassle of canceling credit cards, putting alerts on your credit and spending extra time ensuring you don't lose everything you have to have the very company who is "bragging" how they protect you from criminals subject you to more hassle is ridiculous. By the way, I found it funny that when I asked them what they were going to do to ensure my credit was safe and no further damage could occur, they offered to sell me a credit monitoring package (at full price).

I was applying for a mortgage refinance. Equifax showed two old credit accounts (Regions Mortgage and Dell finance), which had been successfully closed in good standing (no credit balances, outstanding or missed payments and et cetera) by me in 2003, but Equifax showed it as being in dispute. They said the other credit reporting companies (Experian and TransUnion) showed the same. I pulled both companies’ reports; they did not show any disputed accounts, and showed that both accounts (referenced above) as closed in good standing. I called Regions and Dell, and both verified I had no outstanding problem. Both companies said they would notify Equifax to remove the “disputed” label.

I had similar poor experience trying to get free credit reports from both Equifax and Trans Union. Since I got there through the Federal Trade Commission's website, I thought I could jump through all of the **, but not really.

Before I got to the final stage to see the credit reports, they provided me the report numbers and said that I should copy down the numbers. But when I tried to print that out, they logged me out. Then I tried to log back into my accounts and realized the report numbers were pretty much useless. All they asked me was to input my user names and passwords, which I never established one. At that point, all I had was the useless report numbers.

I called Equifax. After spending 30 minutes to verify my identity and had to listen to the sales pitch of paying X amount of dollar to have my credit monitored or paying X amount of dollar to get my score, plus another 10 minutes of navigation on the site, I finally got it printed. According to the law, we are entitled to get a free copy of credit report. The credit bureau companies should make the process reasonable to customers, not making the customers to have to jump through hoops. Yes. At the end, it was free for me, but I paid for that with my time.

I am very confused so they asked me to fax them a copy of my bank statement showing them these charges.

My question is, how do I know if this is a scam? I cannot send them any more of my personal information. So now, I guess I am going to have to eat these charges and cancl my bank cards today, so they cannot charge me anymore. I would like to get my money back and get to the bottom of this matter. I feel taken advantage of and I feel very disgusted.

When I called and talked to the operator for this company, I asked him where he was located and he said India. Wow! I am in Texas. DGM Financial Group, Inc. of Miami, Florida collected $100 from me, to settle two accounts, on behalf of Florida Phone Service, 8/24/2007. Equifax deleted the information from my credit report on 8/31/2007. Florida Phone Service went out of business in its entirety on 11/21/2007. I checked my credit report in 7/2010, and found DGM Financial Group, Inc. filed one of the very same debts I paid in 2007 on my report in 6/2010. They claimed the date of 1st delinquency was 2/2010, and Florida Phone Service assigned the account to them 4/2010. I disputed the claim for several months, because they refused to delete it from my report. Finally, I actually heard from DGM's, so-called Peter **, for the first time, in a letter dated 10/15/2010, stating that the information place on my credit report is accurate, and if I continue with these frivolous disputes, that they would add fees to what I already owe them.

On 10/26/2010, I faxed them my proof of payment from 2007, FCC printout on Florida Phone Service, and a letter stating that I had been in contact with the FCC, State of Attorney's Office, and my personal attorney, and I know that the phone company is no longer in business. I told them they have five days to delete the frivolous information from my credit report, or I would move forward with my official complaint. They deleted the claim on 10/27/2010. I had my lawyer file a suit against them, shortly thereafter. In 5/2011, I pulled my credit report, and DGM Financial Group Inc. has placed a slightly different claim on my report for the same phone company.

I know there has to be some law in the books, that a collection agency has to notify me that I am supposed to owe them, before going straight to Equifax, to ruin my credit. I spent thousands of dollars to clean up my credit, and finally got a decent score, and now this company is committing fraud and extortion against me, and has undone it all.

Because they are operating illegally, is the reason why they violated laws to contact me, before reporting to Equifax. I would like to know how their Office of Financial Regulations license expired in 2008, the corporation dissolved in 2009, and they do not have a Miami Dade Occupational License, and they still do business, fraudulent business, in 2009, 2010, and 2011, without any consequences. I can bet they do not pay income tax to the IRS as well. They also collect money from debtors, and never turn the money over to the creditors who hired them. These extortionists have to be stopped from ruining people's lives. I know others have reported them for their deceptive practices. I am disabled, and cannot afford the stress.

They have changed their phone number and address several times, to avoid paying government fees and taxes. The phone number and address I have posted, is the current phone number that advertises DGM, and another company, and her home address, where business is conducted. I have been in contact with the State Attorney, Office of Financial Regulations, FTC, BBB, Miami-Dade Occupational Licenses, Miami-Dade Code Enforcement, Miami-Dade District Attorney, and the IRS for starters. Within one year, my credit score went from 760 to 648, as a result of them continuing to make fraudulent reports to Equifax.

I do not know if your company checks into credit reporting companies, but I feel the impact they have on the average American is way to vast to overlook. Here are some reports of my credit constantly going down, on a card that I was recommended to by Equifax to help fix credit. It has only a max balance of $500. Keep in mind during this time, I had a judgment removed for $6000, have opened no new cards except for this one in over three years. I have paid off all other cards to zero balances, except one, that shows the payment now at zero. With no missed payments. (Of course you will have to accept my word, unless you need proof at a later date, I won’t include that now due to the nature of this) Those other cards reflected in my credit score when I joined this company for monitoring scores, this is just the last year. That I am sending here. I know these kinds of complaints are too hard to clear up on an individual basis.

So this is for information only, in the event that other complaints are coming in. Credit card companies also solicit by mail and say pre approved, only to later deny credit to people, and then a negative item shows up on credit and causes scores to lower. I have remained debt free as far as these cards go, but took the offer for the $500 card to use and pay every month to help my score. Apparently the only thing the credit companies are interested in is your balance. The score never goes up for paying every month on time. It just goes down for having a balance go up or if you miss payment. This score lowering could cost me thousands on a new loan, simply because I have a balance of $500 on a card, that by the way once you get it, refuses by policy to raise the limit any higher and charges $59 annual fee. Again this is for information only, or in the event you have received numerous complaints.

This last one, they ignored it. They assigned it a number and then do nothing. They hid it. They did not even know the rules of the FCRA. The things they are doing are against the rules of the FCRA. That's all they have to do is know what they are doing and there would not have to be any investigation as it is all right there in the credit report.

These people are idiots and just want to cause the consumer a lot of grief. I am sick of this. It's multi-credit reporting as well as all three bureaus lack and should be made being as everything about our life governs these reports. There is so much that should be off, i.e. credit and names from 20 years ago. I think not, but they won't let you change online. I can keep filling out a dispute online but it really gets me nowhere. I am going to wind up reporting all three bureaus to the Federal government reporting agency responsible for them. If that doesn't work, it's going to the newspapers and in blogs online. My credit union pulled my Equifax credit report for a loan on October 2010 and noticed that it did not contain a credit score (Beacon). It had numerous inaccuracies when I took the one I ordered from them on November 2010. I called them and she said, "We have our own score and you do have one." I questioned why it was not provided to my credit union and she was silent. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was placed on hold for 23 minutes. When someone finally picked up the line, they hung up.

I called back in and a man argued with me about speaking with a supervisor. Finally, I was placed on hold again. I called back in an hour later and spoke with another man. He advised me it was my credit union's problem if they did not pull the score. I said they did and you (Equifax) said there was not one on file, but he quickly changed up and said that I did have an FICO score. The funniest thing is the lady told me that my credit union last pulled my report in July 2010 yet I was holding a copy in my hand from today which shows that they also pulled it in February and October--but never in July!

I have had credit since 1996. I have open and closed accounts, car loan, student loans, credit cards, bank signature loans, etc. yet the report they supplied to my credit union did not reflect any of that, nor did it provide a credit score. When I applied for a mortgage, I found out (a few months ago) that my FICO score was 700. No one at Equifax seems to be able to give me an answer and tell me it is my credit union's problem--funny, since Equifax is the one supplying the report.

When I ask and end up demanding a supervisor, the representative argues with me, places me on hold for over 15 minutes then someone picks up the line, does not speak and hangs up. I also have yet to speak with anyone there without an accent. It is often hard to understand some of the people I have spoken with. This is not the first go-around. I've had trouble with them since March. The report they supply to the bank and the one they supply to me are completely different. All I want is for them to correct what they did wrong and include the credit score when a bank/credit union or credit card company pulls my credit. I also would like my report to match the bank's report--is that too much to ask? This is my life that these people have completely messed up and won't do anything to correct it.

I'm going to work my way backwards. Violation of the "Identity Theft Protection Act" of North Carolina, Fraud, Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices.

Due to the general manager (former) of Ridenow Powersports of Concord North Carolina posted all of my personal information on the Better Business Bureau of Charlotte NC's website. I had to place a security freeze on all 3 of my credit files to help protect me from identity theft. The information that was posted included my full name and address accompanied by my social security number, drivers license number, date of birth and even a credit card number. North Carolina Law provides that non identity theft victims can get a security freeze online for free.

Equifax rigged their website to direct consumers to mail their request in with a check or money order in the amount of the fee charged based on the state you're in. I tried many times to submit the information and get the same result each time. So, I called to report having an issue with submitting the security freeze. Thinking that I'm a moron, the representative tells me that there is a $3 fee regardless of how the security freeze.

I continue to say, it is not and that it clearly states on the list that's even available on the Equifax's website that it's free when done online. The rep went on to say that she could check it for me and I say go ahead. She comes back and says, you must pay a $3 fee and she's not aware of any problems on my computer. She then went on to say that I only have to pay $3 the first time and after that it's free.

I ask her to pull up the list on the Equifax's website to see what I'm seeing and she says she doesn't have access. She then says she can provide me a phone # to the FTC and I say, I can go to the FTC website right away and tell her what it says.

On the FTC site, it still confirmed there is no fee when submitting the request online. She then states that based on her guidelines, there is a $3 fee for North Carolina and if I want a security freeze, I must pay $3. Just to ensure I got the freeze in right away, I paid. Summary: Equifax is ripping off consumers by unlawfully rigging their website to prevent consumers from getting a free security freeze placed on their credit file. And I have a 41 minute "smoking gun" to prove it. Not only did one rep state they have a directive to do this, but another rep and a "supervisor" said the same thing. The GM of Ridenow violated the "Identity Theft Protection Act" by publishing or disclosing my personally information in unredacted form without my permission or consent. Fraudulent Misrepresentations--fraud, fraud and more fraud.

Then this morning, I purchase an Equifax credit report to ensure my security freeze was in place. I noticed that a Fraud Alert that I had placed on the file back in December of 2009 was there, so I call Equifax to inquire as to whether it was in place on 4/5/2010 when a credit card account was opened without my knowledge or consent by HSBC by way of Ridenow Powersports.

Got several different stories: "The fraud alert was placed on my file yesterday". Even though I didn't request one yesterday. "There is no fraud alert active on your credit file" which is weird since I can see the alert online and on the hard copy I downloaded which clearly indicates there's a Fraud Alert. " Or "The last time you had a fraud alert was 6/2008" which isn't true because I placed on in 12/2009 and have a copy of my Equifax credit report to show that". And of course, this call was recorded too. I couldn't ask a question without being misled or lied to .April 5, 2010, Fraudulent and Negligent Misrepresentation in the Inducement of a Contract, Truth in Lending Act (no disclosure of any key terms), Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices (Ridenow and HSBC) I went to Ridenow Powersports of Concord with my then 14 year-old son to look at purchased a moped for him. Mind you, I was under the false impression that since anything 49cc or smaller didn't require a license, tag or insurance, that it was legal for my son to ride it even though that wasn't the case.

Nevertheless, the sales person never said anything to the contrary. He showed me a 2010 Yamaha Zuma which he claimed was the best selling scooter ever. He also stated that they had the last 2 scooters in the area and that Yamaha had stopped production of that model due to the slow economy. So, I decided to buy the scooter which was $2290. I filled out a standard application form and provided to the sales person and he provided that to the finance manager who did his thing while my son and I waited in the showroom.

When it was time to see the finance manager, I was told that my monthly payments would be approx $55-$62 directed to his office. As soon as I get into the office, he begins a sales pitch for a service warranty which included extended warranty, priority service and theft protection (each is a separate contract). He used a piece of paper that was separated into 3 areas detailing the benefits of plan a, plan b and plan c and under each plan, he wrote in my approximate monthly payments based on which plan I selected. For each plan, the monthly costs went up a few dollars a month.

So I'm thinking, this is worth it if it's only a few dollars extra a month so I selected either plan B or C. He then takes the piece of paper he used to write on while making the presentation and puts it in a paper shredder behind his desk. Before I continue, I should mention that at this point, the only disclosure was monthly payments which went up a few dollars based on each plan. I should also mention that this location was originally known as Excel Motor Sports prior to being acquired by Ridenow. I purchased a Honda motorcycle from this location when it was Excel Motor sports and had no complaints about that sale. So, the finance manager gets all of the paperwork ready for me to sign.

For some of the documents, excluding those for the service contract, he overlapped (cascaded) them exposing the bottom portion of each and asked me to sign and/or initial the documents. For the service contracts, he asked me to sign using an electronic signature pad. That signature was applied to the contracts that he was completing on his computer and I never saw the contracts until after the sale. When I did look at the paperwork, I realized that after I paid $1000 down against a $2290 scooter, I had a balance of $3700 which was approaching twice the cost of the scooter itself.

I did end up filing a BBB complaint which resulted in Ridenow posting a $1489 credit the credit card account. They told me that I can refinance with my own bank to which I rejected. HSBC has done nothing but pass me back to Ridenow citing it's their fault and they can't do anything even though I've indicated that I was induced by misrepresentation. They won't investigate because it would be a moot point as they'd have to start by investigating themselves since the non-disclosure on their part was a key component to the fraud. I've done rambling here because I'm pretty ** off about the entire thing still, but I'm getting my facts together in sequential order similar to how it would be on a civil complaint.

On August 22, 2006, the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance mistakenly filed a tax warrant (lien) for $1,046.03 against me, as recorded by the Rockland County Supreme Courthouse on 08/2006 (case ID # 200644741). However, when I became aware of the tax warrant, the error was brought to the attention of the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance. I have the letter from the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance that shows the tax warrant was vacated (not paid) on February 22, 2007, as recorded by the Rockland County Supreme Courthouse.

My Equifax credit report under “Public Record” (case ID # 200644741) shows the tax warrant (lien) filed at Rockland County Supreme Courthouse on 08/2006 and then released on 02/2007. Since this tax lien should not have been file against me in the first place and was corrected (vacated) six months later, I have been trying to get the Equifax credit bureau to remove this public record from my credit report history (on going since 2008). I have provided Equifax with a copy of the letter form the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance that clearly indicates in the fourth paragraph “the assessment upon which this warrant was docketed has now been canceled.”

Upon providing the other two credit rating agencies "TransUnion" and "Experian" with the same documentation, these agencies remove the tax lien from my credit history. However, Equifax is refusing to remove the lien of my credit report. Because this lien is in my credit history at Equifax, it has cause a 92 points credit score difference between Transunion and Equifax; and 59 points difference between Experian and Equifax. The result of my last request to Equifax is dated October 20, 2010 (confirmation # **). I have the next 60 days to contact them regarding the results of the reinvestigation. This scenario has been played out over and over again since June of 2008. Each time I call about the results they would reinvestigate with the same outcome. Can you assist with getting Equifax to remove this lien from my credit history report?

Since credit score is used frequently in our lives, for background checks, loans, jobs, etc., this large variance in credit score among the three credit rating agencies will keep me from getting the best price on purchases and/or rates on loans. I have been very diligent in maintaining a very good credit history and to have this item in my credit history due to no fault of mine is not right. Any assistance to resolve this matter is welcome.

Today, I spent 2-1/2 hours on the phone trying to unfreeze my file. They only have an automated response system. I tried for 2-1/2 hours to get it done. Each time I enter the information, a recorded voice came back and said, "This transaction cannot be completed. I tried 6 different times. The site simply gave me a message that I would have to send in an application with my copies of my drivers license, social security card and utility bill before they would grant me access to my credit report.

After calling customer service at Equifax, I attempted to pay for a copy of my credit report for $15. I was taken through a lengthy verification process where I had to list all of my credit cards, balances and status and was finally verified and told that I could order my report for $15 an hour later. I was assured that I would receive the report instantly and would have no further problems. After giving my credit card information, I was told that I still would not be able to access my report unless I faxed a copy of my social security, drivers license and utility bill to the company because Equifax has incomplete personal information on me. While there have been 6 inquiries from other companies, Equifax remains the most outstanding. They have reduced my credit from a 'fair' to a 'very weak' state. None of the other credit reporting agencies have reduced my credit score; as a matter of fact, my score has increased in their eyes. I believe Equifax is reducing my score based on the 8 repetitive requests I have made to them in disputing information. A credit reporting company is not supposed to reduce a score when a consumer is asking them to review and research the data. I believe they are doing this as a retaliation strategy. Hazel of Equifax falsely generated a "dispute" and created a false credit account in which to post a "disputed" status.

I requested Equifax to remove erroneous "dispute" comments from an account that has been closed for over 3 years. They finally did on the SEARS/CBSD account, but then reentered the account with a slightly different name. The account number used shows this is the exactly the same account. Hazel of Equifax just changed the business name SEARS/CBSD to CBUSASEARS. They could not have received a report from CBUSASEARS, because the business has not had the account for over 4 years.

Equifax has information in their own records verifying the account was settled on 4/6/2007. I have faxed them a letter from the agency that made the collection verifying the above. Equifax has the LVNV Funding LLC posted as "paid in full". The account information clearly shows this is the Sears Citibank account in question. This is a deliberate and malicious action by Hazel of Equifax to extend the "time allowed to process the dispute".

I did not file a dispute. I made an inquiry and a requested they remove erroneous statements from the account. Both Experian and Transunion reviewed their own records and removed the erroneous "dispute" information on the same day I requested them to do so. Why has Equifax not done so as well? By their deliberate and malicious actions, Equifax is causing me to be denied a refinance loan. This will cost me over $72,000.00.

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), with amendments up to and including the Fair and Accurate Transactions Act of 2003 (FACT), directs that once a year, each American be provided access to his credit report from each of the three bureaus. This federal law also states that if requested, online access to the credit report must be given, "A consumer may specify that disclosures shall be made by electronic means, if available from the agency..."

    1. The Equifax website itself counsels those seeking a free credit report, "Requesting a free copy of your credit file online is often the fastest way to obtain your file, but if you prefer to request your free file by phone or mail, please click here."

    2. I have not had problems obtaining online access to my free annual or credit denial report from the other two bureaus, but Equifax has consistently obstructed such access for me over the past three years. Many others have reported similar violations of the law by Equifax, involving diversion of those seeking a free report under the law, to a paid Equifax product, and the continued lack of mandated personnel that will assist the consumer by phone.

    3. Each year, when I go online, through the appropriate website, to obtain my annual free Equifax report, I'm eventually directed to the Equifax website where further requested information is provided. After the provision of detailed ID information, an Equifax page shows my order for a free report and instructs me to click on "Submit." Upon submission of the order, I'm redirected to an Equifax page entitled "Internet Delivery Unavailable--Mail in Request" where it says "We're sorry, for your protection we are unable to fulfill your FACT Act Equifax Free Annual Credit Report on the internet."

    4. None of the conditions suggested on this Equifax page as potential reasons for the "unavailability" of my online report apply to my situation.

In addition, when Equifax says that internet delivery is unavailable, it does not mean that through some unforeseeable technological glitch it was deprived of the ability to reveal my report online, which would be consistent with the law when it says that the agency shall provide electronic access, if available. What Equifax means is that they have intentionally made my file unavailable to me by actively and selectively blocking online access. This occurs, despite providing adequate identification and correctly answering questions confirming my identity. Equifax consistently denies online access and requires that I fill out a form, provide additional 2 uvbogden.doc documentation of identity, mail in the completed form and documentation, and wait for several weeks to get a hard copy of my report. The same scenario also occurs when requesting a free report due to being denied credit.

Even when accessing the Equifax website to obtain a free credit report, every page and option provided directs the consumer to information about a paid Equifax product, such that the consumer is led to believe that the credit report can only be obtained by purchasing an Equifax product. All phone contact numbers provided on the Equifax site entail long sequences of computer answering machine menus designed solely to drive Equifax sales. These phone number computer menus fail to answer important consumer questions and no human being can be reached to address consumer concerns.

After numerous attempts, using various contact numbers and reaching only dead-ends, I resorted to calling a number specified for purchasing an Equifax product. Winding my way through a maze of computer pitchmen to another dead-end, and by repeatedly pressing the zero, I was finally able to talk to an outsourced consumer service agent who, surprisingly, spoke passable English. The agent first tried to sell me an Equifax product and then told me she was unable to determine why I was blocked from online access, unable to remove said block, and unable to refer me to anyone who could assist me in fixing this problem. I was told that my only options were to purchase an Equifax product for immediate access or apply for and await a free snail-mail hardcopy.

It is apparent that Equifax is circumventing the law by not providing free, annual credit reports or free credit denial reports online with the sole purpose of driving the sale of Equifax products. This is tantamount to the "Jim Crow" laws of the South following the Civil War, which were designed, not to assure that a voter was qualified to vote, but to deny the vote to African Americans by throwing up artificial obstacles to voting. Similar to civil rights, credit reporting delayed is credit reporting denied. Mainstream data management is almost exclusively via electronic means and this is no less so for the credit information industry. Credit information, stored on servers, can easily be provided electronically at virtually no expense.

Alternatively, converting stored electronic information to a physical hard copy, packaging, addressing and delivering it by mail to a physical location requires more steps, takes more time, consumes more resources, and means considerably more expense for the company. Most receiving credit information prefer electronic means as it is available instantly, more efficient, and it facilitates improved data management.

On a cost basis, a prudent credit bureau would choose to provide the mandated annual free credit report exclusively online. On a consumer satisfaction basis, online distribution would similarly be chosen, because of distinct consumer preference for electronic data. Individual and business consumers who purchase credit information from Equifax, all have instant access to its online electronic data. It is only the non-paying consumers that are prevented from lawfully and instantly accessing their personal credit information online.

Consumers seeking online access to their lawful, free credit report are pushed into purchasing Equifax products. Equifax is taking unfair advantage of the federal mandate and government promotion of the FCRA and FACT acts, acts designed to protect consumers from unfair practices, by abusing these acts as a marketing tool to sell Equifax products. This is a fraudulent, deceptive, and unfair business practice akin to credit bureaus marketing "free" credit reports that actually involve charging the consumer's credit card. However, this Equifax scam is the more insidious because the marketing that drives this deceptive 3 uvbogden.doc practice is provided at government expense, and it directly contradicts the intent of the FCRA and FACT acts.

According to law, Equifax must provide online access upon request, once a year, to each American, without delays and phony, self-serving excuses. Please provide consumer redress by directing Equifax to cease its pecuniary tactics and either become compliant with the law, or suffer the consequences as prescribed.

I was denied online access Equifax credit report three years consecutively. Equifax wanted me to purchase one of its products for immediate access, or file a written application and send in documents requesting a written report which would then be mailed to me. There is allegedly some derogatory information in my Equifax report that is not in that of the other two. Since Equifax won't let me online access my file, I don't know what the derogatory information is or even if it's legitimate. Also, my score dropped from 770 to 699 based on this unknown derogatory information and I was denied a loan modification on my home because of this.

I encourage all victims of Equifax to file complaints with the Fair Trade Commission. They have been sued before for their so-called business practices. They should be shut down, as they continue to thumb their noses at laws and regulations. The complaints don't change, why are they allowed to continue victimizing the public?

Equifax will not remove incorrect information from their report on me. They have an account marked as disputed, when it has never been disputed. The account is paid in full, but they require a statement from Sears saying the account is not in dispute. Sears will not respond because they have had nothing to do with the account since 6/2000, and did not report it as in dispute. Equifax's own records show the account is paid in full as of 4/2007. Why would anyone dispute an account that is paid?

They did remove the "dispute" remark from the initial account, but then reentered the account with a slightly different number (dropped the last 3 of the posted account number) , and again said it was in dispute and being investigated. I did not file any dispute with Equifax or anyone.

The problem is that Fannie and Freddie arbitrarily deny any mortgage loan where your credit report shows the word "dispute". I have talked to approx. 15 individuals. All cannot or, do not want, to understand anything said. Both Experian and Transunion reviewed the credit report, and removed the "dispute" verbiage within 1 day. A refinance at a lower rate will lower my payment by $200 a month. Over 30 years, that is $72,000. I am a 65 year old retiree, and this is a major blow. Equifax allows you to easily sign up for their credit monitoring scores and services on their websites. However, when you decide you want to cancel your services, you are required to call their customer service line, and talk to someone in person. This involves going through a series of line prompts, and listening to ads all the way touting their services, and how valuable they are. Then, when you actually get to a person, they spend 15-30 minutes trying to talk you out of canceling. When I called to cancel, after 15 minutes of listing all the ways their service helped me, then they offered me interim 'offers' of a month for free, and then a reduced price multi-month offer.

Finally, after me insisting again and again that I no longer wanted the service, and wanted it canceled, they finally agreed to cancel it. But the process for canceling their products is onerous, time-consuming, and overly difficult. It should not have to take a marathon phone call during which you have to constantly repudiate numerous sales pitches to cancel a product you no longer want. If you can sign up easily on their website, you should also be able to cancel easily on the website, and not be required to jump through the hurdles of making a long phone call and fighting off their attempts to continue you as a customer. 30 or more minutes of time wasted on the phone call to cancel, and the accompanying stress and emotional pressure to constantly rebuff the sales pitches when you state you want to cancel.

I applied for a loan and my credit report came up with a Tax Lien; after checking into it, it was discovered it was something the IRS initiated in 1999. I contacted them the next day and they said that there was no lien against my name any longer. I contacted Equifax and told them, they said it was out there and to contact them again. I called the IRS department and explained again what Equifax said and they said that it was released, to go to the County Courthouse in my county and get a copy of the document and send it to Equifax. I did that and received in the mail, 30 days later, another dispute form from Equifax stating the lien was still out there.

I called them again and asked them if they had read the document. They said they had gotten something from the court house electronically that stated it was still an active lien. The document from the court house is a Notice of Federal Tax Lien with a box in bold letters stating "Important Release Information: For each assessment listed below, unless notice of lien is refiled by the date given in column (e), this notice shall on the day following such date, operate as a certificate of release as defined in IRC 6325 (a)". The date in column e is 01/21/2008. I explained to Equifax on three different occasions that this document is public record and states that there was a lien, but has been cleared effective on 1/22/2008. This is what the IRS gentleman read to me and then asked me what part of that bold block didn't I understand.

I'm not saying that the public record is out there with this lien, but according to the IRS and the date of 1/21/2008, it is no longer against my record and they should be able to read that as well. This is the third time I've taken off work to "discuss" this issue with them to no avail. They said they will contact the courthouse again and if they still say this is valid, then they will continue to keep this against my credit score. I called the courthouse and they confirmed what I already told Equifax. This is an accurate document in that there was a lien in 1999, but was released in 2008 that they have to actually read the document and take that into consideration and they said no. The courthouse is telling them the lien is still active. In talking with the courthouse, they said no, they do not talk to any credit companies. All they are doing is looking at the same document that I've already paid for but they are not reading it. What do I do at this point?

When I requested a free copy of my Equifax credit report I noticed they had my mortgage listed twice with all the information the same except for the start date. I wrote them April 28 pointing out the duplication. I was told it could take 30 days to rectify the situation. At the 30-day point I received notice stating the investigation was complete and they updated the amount due on my mortgage and nothing else. Yikes!

I filed another complaint. Another 30 days go by and after their thorough investigation, guess what? Yes! On June 26, I received noticed the second investigation was complete and the information on their report was correct! Today, I filed a third complaint and was told it would take another 30 days to verify whether or not the information on my credit report was accurate. I repeatedly asked to speak with a manager or supervisor and was told one was not available. I called back later and was told by another rep the item in question had been removed from my file today. The rep stated I should receive an email about it. The only email I got indicated a third investigation was pending and should be completed by July 28. So I asked how I could get a copy of my updated credit report so I could verify one of the mortgages was removed today. She told I would be charged for it. I know that's not right.

This is not rocket science! Equifax has my mortgage listed on my credit report twice. A sixth grader could figure it out. The best part is at the end of every call is that they ask if I would be interested in subscribing to Equifax's credit monitoring service. As if! Hard to believe these are the people who are entrusted with our credit histories. This is time consuming and irritating. I think my blood pressure has gone up 20 points.

I had a fraudulent billing error from a physician 4 years ago. I requested the physician bill appropriately, this was never done. I submitted a request to the state of Washington to review the physician's billing practices. Because I disputed the bill and did not pay it, the lab turned the bill over to collection this last fall. I paid the item off in Jan 2010 to get it off my credit report. I let the collection agency know the billing should have been "preventative", in which case my insurance would have paid 100% as the bill was part of my yearly physical.

The physician billed "med-surg", which meant that my labs were not covered. I talked with my insurance company, all they wanted was the billing from Highline Lab to be corrected and the bill would have been paid by Uniform. Subsequent to my paying off the bill, I have contacted Merchant's credit and Equifax credit bureau multiple times with no resolution to correcting this issue on my Equifax credit report. I have submitted disputes, I have made phone calls, I have sent letters. The blight continues to stay on my credit report and thus brings my credit score down. My credit scores have always been in the low 800s. How are we as consumers supposed to deal with agencies such as Equifax who so control our financial lives? What, if any, are my options in dealing with Equifax and how can I request they acknowledge my dispute and remove this blight from my credit report? It seems that organizations like Equifax do not realize what they can do to people and we, as consumers, appear to have no options for dealing with them. Thank you so much for any assistance.

I ordered my credit report in 2010, and noticed that almost all of my credit history was missing. I called the company, and asked where did everything go? She said everything was outdated, and was removed, and I explained to her, by doing that, you made my credit report look like I have only had six years of credit. I am 61 years old, and have had credit, since I am 21 years old. They managed to take off all the high amounts of credit I had, and left an old credit card from 1978, with a $300.00 credit line.

How could they be so stupid as to do something like that. Now, I am trying to move, and I'm having a hard time getting approved for an apartment, because of all this. I have called Equifax, and asked them to put my credit back onto my record. They said they can't, and have no way of doing that, and once it is removed, that's it. I'm trying to get them to send me a copy of my 2008 credit report, so I can call the companies direct.

Why are we forced to deal, as Americans, with a company that has been outsourced to India for cheap labor, that now controls the most important issues that effect the American people. These people are rude, they have very heavy accents and you can't understand a word they are saying. They don't speak into the phone, but they are given so much control over the lives of Americans. Who thought this was going to be such a good idea. These jobs should have gone to Americans, not Indians. I am 61 years old, and this has hurt my credit score. I am presently laid off from my job, and this has made my life a living hell, and caused me a lot of stress.

I still can't get in touch with them and they sold my email address to every spammer in the world. By law, they have got to provide you for free a credit every year as do TransUnion and Experian. These companies do whatever they want and nobody has any control over them. They hold power over every American citizen and we can't even contact them.

As far as the spam, When I get a spam, I open it up, go through it, get every company they claim to have offers or deals or specials with then I research and email every available person in that company and complain about being the victim of spam they hired someone to send me. If everyone do this, spam would last about one day because if not for these companies hiring these criminals to break into our private property and damage it, they would stop.

I have no access to my credit report. I refuse to continue to pay their service after they sold my email to a bunch of criminals. No government regulation of the credit industry. If you think there is, try and use it. The Federal Trade Commission is a joke. When you submit a report to them, it doesn't even get read. They post it in a chat room no one knows exists. Every other government agency refers you to them. Then they refer you back to other agency untill they wear you down and you give up.

We were advised to put an alert on their social security numbers at a charge of $14.99 per person (five people). There had been no problems so we decided to cancel it December. This is not possible. The alerts come to me on my email for all of us. We are unable to cancel without each person calling separate and having the right information. They did not even know this alert was on them. It took until June when we finally canceled by calling and pretending to be the person to cancel it.

In the meantime, we have been billed $300 trying to get this done. It does not make sense. How can they charge to our credit card indefinitely? They would not give us any credit for the last months. They did not volunteer to give us the code for record that it was canceled. Each call had someone hang up on us as we asked more questions or tried to talk to a supervisor.

One time, the gentleman said that we hung up on him another time. Our contact on June 10 said we had never contacted them and yet we have records of contacting them each month when the bill comes. Today, they said they have three phone calls about this account. This should not be a big problem to cancel a service. If it was a security issue, why was I able to cancel by pretending to be my daughter and son? I think this is a scam. Has anyone been able to get anywhere with this company?

I have been a member of Equifax Credit Reporting since 2006 & usually whenever someone accesses my credit file, I receive an email alert so that I can view the file request & see if it is something I authorized or something fraudulent. On May 1, 2010, my credit file was accessed by a financial institution but I was never notified of this by Equifax when that occurred. I found out today when I looked at my information on the Equifax web site & saw that credit request. As it turns out, this credit file information request was appropriate since I had opened an account with that financial institution but suppose I hadn't, I would have had no idea that someone used my social security number for a credit check which is the purpose of me having their credit monitoring service.

Now on May 15, 2010, a charge appeared on my Capital One credit card i/a/o $ 79.95 from Equifax for the annual renewal of their credit monitoring service which given the fact they never notified me of the May 1 incident, the word 'monitoring' is a joke. My issue with this charge of $79.95 is that I was never given any advance notification of it. Equifax just processed the charge without giving me the opportunity to say 'yes or no' as far as renewing this service. Shouldn't I have been given the opportunity to make a decision as to whether or not I wanted to continue with them before they just 'assumed' that I wanted to renew for another year & charged my credit card for it? It's a good thing I was checking my credit card account for a refund; otherwise, I never would have noticed that charge either. When did Equifax take my notice of renewal rights away from me or is this something they just do whenever the mood strikes them ? I have sent Equifax an email about both of these issues today since calling them frustrates me to high heaven because none of their customer service(?) reps understand the English language.

On the point of not receiving the email notification about my credit file being accessed, that might have been someone trying to steal my personal identity, social security number or account numbers info again so that could have cost me a lot. I had that happen once which is the reason why I signed up for Equifax & their monitoring service. On the issue of not being given advanced notification on my Equifax renewal, it forces me to take it again for another year which may or may not have been my intent but I wasn't given the opportunity to give it any thought. They just took their money.

After reading some of the stories posted, I'm better off than some, worse than others, but we all share the same bottom line: Eqifax, which holds our future in their hands, is killing our credit with false reports. The problem started last year and I even went to get professional help to fix the problems on my report. My report was finally fixed and read fine in December of 2009, then February of 2010 the items showed back up on my report!

I have 1 home loan. They report I have two. The loan was with Countrywide, which we all know was taken over by Bank of America - now I try to refinance that loan and I can't even with BoA themselves. I don't know which agency is more defunct, BoA that holds my loan and is reading my report believing I have a 'phantom' 2nd loan because they read on the Equifax report that there are 2 loans through guess who: BoA; or Eqifax for not reporting the info correctly. It's a vicious circle between the two.

I was able to get my report, when I try to get my score however, that never comes through. I haven't been able to review my 'disputes'. Since I was denied a loan I get a free report, and I did get to see and print that immediately. As for the false stuff on my report that I have disputed, I received an email stating that the disputed items had been reviewed and I could click a link and see the report - that has not worked. I have no idea what my report says since I can't get back to it. TransUnion and Experian corrected the flaw within a matter of 10 business days. Money wasted, time wasted, can't refinance my home.

However, I went through a drill of questions in order to ID myself and so on (8 out of 10 questions I did not understand, because the English was so bad). I told the woman that I wish to speak to the supervisor. After a while, she came back again and she put me through to her supervisor. After three minutes waiting, the supervisor named Sony came on. Some service!

The supervisor came on the phone after three minutes and we went through the drill of questions in order to ID myself again to the supervisor (Sony). After so many questions, I told Sony all I wanted was why was I charged $7.95? He refused to give me information and told me that he was not going to give me anything until I provided more information on myself. I gave him my full name, SSN, address, and of course my birth date (which he said he has something else for my birthday). I asked him for a company phone number/someone above him and he refused to give me anything. So I told him good-bye.

I called another number and spoke to a young person who spoke English very well and he explained everything to me after I provided the same information to him that I gave the supervisor above. This person named Jeff was very helpful and helped me cancel the charges that were made on my credit card. Now I know why we hired folks out of the United States---cheap labor and customer service reduction. This same company (Equifax) charges us big dollars for their services but their service to us is very cheap and people who cannot speak English least (there is nothing we can do about it but complain).

Some of these complaints are put off to the trash can or off to the side. I just wish that they could at least hire folks that can speak English well enough to carry a conversation with customers. Equifax should do better this or hire our own citizens in the Untied States. This is one reason; we citizens are out of work. I hope that I never have to deal with Equifax or their customer care folks again. Bottom line is the service was so bad that I refused to call them again. Jeff tried to keep me on with this company and the reason why I was paying $7.95 sounded wonderful, but I refused to support a company like this that their customer service stinks (their customer service has a large amount of an undesirable quality).

I disputed the charges via Wells Fargo Card services and as a result some of the charges were credited back to me. Again, I say neither I nor my husband requested this service, plus I have no idea how they obtained my credit card details as neither of us gave them to Equifax.

On the 9th April I received a letter from Wells Fargo Dispute Resolution stating that an amount of $14.95 was being investigated, the documents that were attached to this letter stated the cardholder to be a Christina ** of North Carolina, and the merchant information was EQUIFAX. The card account number was mine. On the 12th April I received another letter from Wells Fargo Dispute Resolution stating that an amount of $14.95 was being investigated, the documents that were attached to this letter stated the cardholder to be a Chantale ** from Virginia Beach, and the merchant information was EQUIFAX. He card account number was mine.

I immediately contacted the Fraud Department at Wells Fargo who are in the process of investigating this case and the Visa card has been cancelled.

In my attempt to find the complaints department at Equifax on-line, I have read numerous stories from consumers who have experienced exactly what has happened to us. Equifax stating that the consumer has requested a service that the consumer did not request. There is no proof, nothing in writing just Equifax stating the service was requested.

I have requested a reply to this letter with answers as to how Equifax obtained my credit card information, plus why is my credit card attached to two other customers of Equifax. Today, the 22nd April I have made further phone calls to Equifax requesting some answers but once again am put through to a call center person who has no clue about anything and feels that Equifax are not responsible.

Equifax are supposed to be protecting consumer credit not taking money out of accounts and mixing consumer records so that other customers of Equifax have another consumers credit card details. In the past when I have written to Equifax I have never received a reply to anything, this speaks volumes. Having read the reams and reams of consumer complaints against Equifax it is more than obvious that they are a shambles and have to be investigated thoroughly. I really would appreciate a reply with some thoughts about this.

I am in touch with Wells Fargo Investigation department, as well as Nine News to see if somebody can act on this and get something done about them. I have attached copies of the recent letters that were sent to me by Wells Fargo Dispute Resolution Dept. Also the reply I sent back to them which include the case numbers of all three incidents. This has made me get denied from companies where I have applied for credit. I only have three things that are supposed to be on my credit and all three are in great standing with payments made on time and earlier for some. I pulled all my credit reports from all three bureaus to find out why I was being denied credit.

TransUnion said that I'm in good standing, Experian also said that I am in good standing but with alerts saying that Equifax has sent over some negative actives in their database. It has the wrong address where I supposedly have lived. It shows all these inquires from companies I have never applied at. I just recently sent Experian a dispute letter. Equifax just put on two of the accounts I have in good standing on my report with them, but still sending all this false information to other bureaus. On one of the reporting agencies, I owed Capital One credit card and the only way I found that out is when I just recently applied and was denied.

When I called Capital One credit card, I was told by one of their agents that the Social Security number that I had provided to her comes up in a different name and different state. It's out of their hands now and I need to contact the collection agent who put this on my credit report--and so I did. I was told by the creditor that it do shows up in a different name, but under my Social Security number. The best way to settle this mater in a quick manner is to take the settlement that they have been giving this person who is using my Social Security number and to have it removed off my credit report.

I told her that I am not calling to make any payment arrangements but to let them know that this is filed under my name and Social Security number. So she asked what was my name again and she asked me to spell it. Then, she said that she didn't see anything under that name but I still have to make this settlement to them anyway. And I told her, "Why would I want to pay someone else's debt?" She said that she didn't care, they are going to get the money out of me. I told her to go ahead and try and I am going to continue the investigation and hung up the phone. Something has got to be done concerning this matter. I need help immediately concerning this matter.

It's very difficult to work with them since they don't provide you a number to call and all correspondence must be done by mail. The entire process takes at least a couple of months to complete.

My biggest complaint is that once I finally correct my file, they somehow managed to mess it up again. I don't understand how a credit reporting agency can mix up a person's identity with another. I understand that multiple people can have the same name and birthday, but people are also identified by their own social security numbers and driver's license numbers. How can an agency as large as Equifax manage to do this? Because of Equifax's mistakes, I've been victim to denial of credit and termination of credit. This is unacceptable and I hope to find resolution to this ongoing inconvenience.

For 5 years, I have been trying to get my Equifax credit report and every year, I go through the same hassle. They have yet to fix my report so that I can get it online for free I.A.W. The Fair Credit Reporting Act, they have yet to investigate previously disputed items and I can never get any assistance. Frustration and denial of credit.

I canceled my Equifax account a month ago. Found a new charge for $14.95, on my credit card. I tried calling them twice to dispute the charge. And 2 times I was disconnected by the computerized phone system! I was told no more charges past February!

I recently was denied credit due to Equifax not reporting and not releasing any of my information to my creditors. I have had absolutely no problems getting my reports from TransUnion or Experian. I paid for my credit score through TransUnion, only to receive a letter a week later stating that they couldn't help me because Equifax wouldn't release any information to them in order to get my score. They advised me to contact Equifax to get to the source of the problem.

So, since February 2010, I have been in contact with several rude customer service agents that will not, and I quote, "We are not at liberty to give you our extension number or to a supervising manager or to give you to the complaints department." I have exhausted every phone number I can find for this company, all with the same remarks!

All that I have been told is that they do not have an updated information on file and to either mail it to a P.O. Box address in Atlanta GA. or to fax it to several different fax numbers, which I have complied several times with way more personal information than they need to update my file. I have faxed it two different occasions at my expense and I have mailed it in two different occasions also at my expense.

When I try going online, I cannot get any information either. Every time I call to check my status, they give me the same runaround about they need updated information and will not tell me anything. So I explained to the person or persons on the phone that I have done so several times and I am not going to put my personal information in any more jeopardy by mailing or faxing it again. When they claim that they don't have it and they have never received it--and when I asked them where this information has gone because I have confirmation fax numbers, they tell me that they do not believe that I am the person I am claiming to be and that I probably never sent the information to begin with.

I have filed complaints with the Federal Trade Commissioner on two different occasions. I have also left several messages for the State Consumer Agency and the Better Business Bureau. I believe that I have exhausted every effort on my end to resolve this problem and do not know what more I can do. I have been trying to enroll in college to further my career as an RN and have been unable to do so because of Equifax. I cannot get credit anywhere do to this problem. Any help you can give me would be more than appreciated. It would be a miracle.

Got my credit report but Equifax personnel have quite a sense of humor or are completely illiterate. They have my name written very much like "Rosanna Danna Anna-D" When it is "Rosanna D". Can't get anywhere on the phone. Just recorded info and then disconnect. Online dispute doesn't allow for name corrections. Seems like the intentionally keep it crazy. What is really going on here? Seems like maybe their employees are organized gang members intentionally screwing up people's ID so that ID theft can happen. Obvious something isn't right and more than typos. Our government has not teeth and everyone knows it, and corps are jumping in. Heck, crime pays big.

I have tried to unfreeze my credit report with Equifax result was unsuccessful. I received a letter requested for additional information which I sent the information back on March 1, 2010. I have not heard anything back from Equifax and today is March 22, 2010 already.

I tried to unfreeze by the phone, it went through and I received a confirmation number but the third party said my credit was still freeze. I tried to contact Equifax by phone but only got through the automated machine. I'm so frustrated. I need this money for my new business. Please help. I wish Equifax has an online unfreeze like Experian.
