After using Frontline for years without any adverse reactions, we purchased Sergeant's Gold Flea and Tick for our four Golden Retrievers. Big mistake! Within an hour of applying the treatment, all four dogs were scratching and very agitated. Things seemed to getting worse so we decided to wash the stuff off right away. Unfortunately, some of the damage was already done. Two of them had red, irritated skin. The other two still itched terribly. We tried Benadryl to calm them down but it took hours and another bath before any of us could get any relief or sleep. None of the dogs wanted to eat, and although we were concerned about dehydration, it was challenging to get them to even take a drink.

On 10/11/2008, I used Sergeant's Flea and Tick Squeeze On, on my 3-yr-old Pom named Lil Boy. About an hour after putting it on, he started rubbing up against everything. I just thought that the fleas were dying and biting him pretty hard. After about another hour, his eyes were beginning to swell. He was frothing at the mouth. His head began to twitch and he didn't seem to be able to stand on his own. I ended up taking him into to the 24-hour animal clinic and he had to stay overnight with IVs. I ended up with a 300-dollar vet bill over an 11-dollar box of flea killer. I am not the only one this has happened to. There is a whole website with information. Some people were not as luck as Lil Boy and I and ended up losing their babies to this medicine. He is home now and seems to be itching still and pretty lethargic. I am hoping he will be okay. I am doing a follow-up with my vet. When I called the 1-800 med line, they told me I should not of taken my dog to the vet.

I bought this product for my 2 dogs. I applied it to both of them and went to work. When I came home that evening my husband told me to take the little one to the vet. She was shaking and scratching and moving her head very strange. The vet kept her overnight as a precaution and my bill was 400 after reducing the bill. The vet said it was a reaction to the flea medication. And when I brought her home she is still scratching her ears and shaking her head all night long. I have tried so many things to help her ears. My other dog is quite bigger so he has only a slight effect from it. I am so upset that this has happened only to found out I am not the only one that this has happened to.

I purchased Sergeant's Gold Flea and Tick Protection for my 9 mos Pug. She (Gypsy) always used Frontline and it was fine but I ran out and she was starting to scratch. I figured the cheap kind would probably not be as effective but with it being October, it should be fine. Put it on her about 8 pm at night and I went to bed shortly afterward. I got up this morning and she was lethargic, coughing and constantly scratching. Very sick. After reading on Google, I bathed her twice in Dawn dish soap and gave her some Benadryl. The only symptom still there is the scratching.

I used these drops on my 7 yr old chih/fox terr and he started having horrible reactions. He vomited well past five times and was drinking large amounts of water and he kept licking his paw and chewing it. I bathed him and he was a little better. But not fully better till the next afternoon, and he was finally eating. I guess he ingested it. I wrote to company and no response. I have seen many complaints online about it and would not recommend it to anyone.

I bought my dog who is 7 months old, Sergeant's shampoo for fleas and ticks. After applying it... the next day, my dog became very ill. The last 3 days, he has been lethargic, drooling, shaking, doesn't want anyone around him, very sickly appearance and I took him to the vet where they gave him a shot to counteract the flea medication. He is still acting sluggish. He won't eat. He hasn't for 3 days. He just looks miserable. Going back to the vet tomorrow. My dog has had all of his shots and then this flea medication takes him down. He was always so hyper and good-natured and now he is just sad and lays around. He was scratching terribly but I assumed it was from the fleas. I never expected it to be from the shampoo that was supposed to rid him of them. But it is obvious now. I hope he pulls through. I am devastated seeing him so sick. This product should be pulled immediately! Ridiculous! Simply ridiculous.

Used the product on my dog and he became very agitated. He kept trying to scratch his back. He would run around like he did not know where he was going. He was awake all night, kept wanting to go outside, he had to keep moving. I gave him Benadryl and he finally calmed down some, but was still very itchy. The next day I found online that many, many people's dogs had the same reaction and said to use Dawn dish soap and Benadryl. So I did. For 3 days I gave him the medicine and I had to bath him 3 times before he was OK.

I bought the product at the local walmart, brought it home and put it on my rat terrier who in turn about 5 minutes later, started crying and scratching like he was hurting bad, then he vomited. After a night on the phone with the vet, we figured out he had been poisoned by the flea meds. He lost a huge patch of hair.

On Sunday October 5th, I purchased Sergeants Gold Flea and Tick Killer. I applied it according to instructions on my two year old beagle. I have always used Advantage, but happen to run out. He had never had any reaction. However within two hours of applying the Sergeants Gold, he began shaking and drooling. He was in a misery constantly digging at himself and biting his feet. I quickly gave him a bath. I called the hotline on the box for help. They said give him a bath in dish detergent. After four baths within three hours and benadryl, he started to calm down some. It took almost 24 hours and more baths and benadryl to get him back to normal. He is still digging at his head two days later. After checking the web and seeing all the same complaints about the product, I can not see why it is still on store shelves.

I bought Sergeant's Gold Flea & Tick Squeeze On for dogs 9 lbs to 20 lbs at my local Walmart store for $11.97. I put it on my 10 lb. Shih Tzu who will be one year old in a couple of weeks. I followed the directions completely. In about 30-45 minutes, I noticed her whining, crying and very fidgety. She could not sit still. I have in the past purchased Frontline from my vet and she has never acted this way with that product so I thought I better wash it off. Still acted the same way so I called the Hotline on the back of the box. The lady stated that I needed to wash her in Palmolive dish soap 3 or 4 times and I could give her some vitamin E oil on her skin. I washed her 4 times and still no change. Also I applied the vitamin E oil and no change. I then called the vet and he said to make sure she does not start vomiting or having diarrhea and that I should give her Benadryl and that should calm her. I cannot believe that this stuff is being sold. I am so upset and feel awful for doing this to her. I will never buy anything but Frontline.

Friday 10-3-08 my niece went to Walmart to purchase a flea killer for her pet of 4 years. She bought a more expensive brand to be sure it would take care of the fleas. She put it on her dog at 11:00 pm on 10-3-08. She called me on 10-4-08 at 4:15 am. Our little dog who is a Shih-Tzu was having a reaction to medication that was given to her. It was a Sergeant's Gold Flea & Tick Squeeze On for dogs 9 to 20 lbs. I have the code #. She was so sick - she was all wet and could not stop the drooling. She would run and drop and her hind leg would kick right straight back and she would lick her paw to even bleed. It was so painful for this little dog. It was so sad she would try to lay down. It was like frogs jumping in her and she would just bounce crazy. She vomited and had Diarrhea.

I applied Sergeant's Gold Flea and Tick Squeeze on to my Chihuahua Sabastian who had a severe reaction. I gave both of our dogs a bath and figured I would treat the little guy before taking our pompapoo to the groomer. My wife and I were gone about three hours and when we came home the dog was running around the house frantic, his right back leg was twitching and he was hacking and frothing at the mouth. I immediately went on line and googled allergic reaction to Sergeant' Pro and to my horror I found out that I was not the only dog owner to experience this. I immediately gave him two very intensive baths and later the same evening gave him two more additional baths with Dawn dish detergent. He still has a slight hind leg twitch but I gave him bendaryl and he is finally sleeping soundly. One of the active ingredients in Sergeant's Pro is Cyphenothrin (pyrethroids chemical class).

I purchased the flea medication SentryPro XFC (73091-01942) P001707-1 on Oct. 3, 2008 to treat my two dogs and a neighbor's dog I am watching. I applied it as directed at about 8pm that evening and noticed them dry heaving and trying to lick the air as if to get a bad taste out of their mouth. All were scratching and itching like they wanted to crawl out of their skin. I called the company's emergency number and was instructed to bathe them with dishwashing detergent and apply vitamin E to the area of application, then feed them some canned tuna to relieve the sensation/taste in their mouths.

Both my dogs had allergic reactions to this product Sergeant's Gold Flea and Tick Squeeze on. I have a Rottweiler and a Black Lab. I followed all the directions exactly. Had to wash the stuff off numerous times and give my dogs Benadryl to get them better. This is horrible stuff. With all the complaints and people's pets ending up in the emergency room, how can this stuff still be on the shelf?

I purchased Sergeant’s Nature's Guardian natural flea & tick squeeze-on for cats and kittens. It contains peppermint, clove, and lemon grass oils. This product is suppose to be ultra-safe for cats and kittens and kill fleas. Well, I paid $10 for a 3 application box and bought 2 boxes. The box made my cats sick and did not kill a single flea. Fortunately, I did not have to take them to the vet. But it's another company trying to get away with false advertising. THE PRODUCT SIMPLY DOES NOT WORK!

Applied Sergeants Gold to our 14 lb wawa 6 yrs old named Cisco at 11 pm last night. 10/02/08 Went to bed. Cisco woke us up at 3 am crying and jumping all over. He was shaking, jumping, twitching, biting his paws, and breathing funny. Called emergency number on box. Advised to give bath in Dawn dish soap. Called a vet in the afternoon. No Funds to take to vet. That's why we bought the Sergeants from Walmart. Vet advised by phone to continue bathing in dawn dish soap and OK to give half allergy pill and baby aspirin. Now been over 24 hrs and Cisco is still not right. Called Sergeants again, told wife same line, wash in dawn dish soap. After reading on pet sites on the internet wife and I determined Sergeants knows about the problems with this product. LOTS of complaints, and even a few animal deaths due to this product.

Purchased Sergeant's Gold flea and tick squeeze on for dogs. Made triple sure that I bought the correct one for the size of my 2 shepherd mixes. Read the entire label. Then administered the drops per the instructions. Within a few hours one dog was fine. The other was agitated and seemed to have lost some function in her back legs. She skittered around the kitchen. Biting, chewing, whimpering. She couldn't sit still. Seemed to calm down by bedtime. Then the same symptoms were there by morning. She had trouble standing. We bathed her and rinsed her with a bit of water with Epsom salts. Cannot believe that such an awful product is on store shelves without more warning of toxic effects. It's as if our girl had a neurologic disorder. I hope she's going to be okay. But, somehow, I don't think she's ever going to be right again.

I purchased Sergeant’s Gold flea and tick medication. After applying it to my Airedale, he became distressed, rolling around, biting and licking at his back etc. The next day, there was a large, oozing sore on his back where the chemical had been applied. This turned into a very large, thick scab. I wasn't sure what had caused this until I applied another packet (less concentrated) to my greyhound. She became distressed and started licking at the spot where the Sergeant’s was. I immediately rinsed her off and she was fine. Two reactions in two dogs tells me that this product is a dangerous and should be pulled from the market and whoever owns Sergeant’s should be "horse-whipped' in the 'town square'.

I recently treated my three month old Pug with Sergeant's Gold Squeeze On Flea and Tick treatment and also had purchased Sergeant's Skip-Flea and Tick Shampoo, which claimed to kill fleas and ticks for up to ten days. I used both products as directed being sure to follow the directions to the letter. The shampoo failed to kill ANY fleas as it had claimed, but the major problem began when I applied the Sergeant's Gold. Within thirty minutes, my good-natured puppy went ballistic, running, scratching and digging at his fur, chewing off several spots within hours.

On Sunday, 09/21/08 I put one ampule of Sergeant's Gold on each of my dogs, 1 Yorkie and 1 Pug. I purhcased this product for dogs 9-20 lbs at WalMart. Within 2 hours both my dogs were scratching at their ears, chewing their feet, coughing and going in circles. Both were crying and were stressed out and very anxious. I took them to the vet first thing this morning and learned that the Sergeant's Gold did this to my babies. What a horrible product.

I purchased Sergeant Gold Flea and Tick Meds for my 2 dogs. I used one tube of this medicine as directed on the box and 1 of my dogs had a severe reaction. The dog was in pain and had to be bathed and broke out in a rash as well as redness. This product is very dangerous and should not be allowed to be sold to consumers as someone's pet may suffer with more injuries or death.

I purchased Sergeant's Gold flea & tick squeeze-on for dogs 9-20lbs and applied it to my adult dog that is within the weight range. I read the instructions and used it as recommended. Within an hour my dog was very aggitated, scratching, and biting at herself. I thought the few fleas she may have had were just trying to escape the medicine. She became worse, racing around the house, biting at the air, and biting at her skin. When she began drooling and salivating an unusual amount and would not stand, I called the vet. He advised that she was having an allergic reaction and to bathe the dog immediately. After an hour we called back because she was having issues with her back leg and frothing at the mouth.

I purchased Sergeant's Natures Guardian Natural Flea & Tick Squeeze-On for Cats & Kittens on November 7th, 2007.

Her skin is now burned and very irritated, she seems sluggish, in a lot of pain,i called seargents and did exactly what they told me to do, then called my vet and ask if she had been poisoned and he said sounds like she has and this is why we dont sell seargents products, we sell frontline instead

The cat was 4years old. The cat started to convulse. I took the cat to emergency treatment. The vet said it was this product and that they have seen it before. I paid approx $800. for the care for my cat for two days.
