Advanced owner of cats and dogs. Purchased Sentry Purrscriptions Plus. Used on all 8 of my cats. They remained outside in their safe, stockade fenced yard with 250 sq. foot Funhouse. The next morning, my year old adopted male, Sprout, was found deceased in his bed. Not a mark on him. Pained look on his face. I truly believe this product needlessly killed him. AVOID. PLEASE.

Applied Sentry Pro as directed. No warnings about severe allergic reaction found in large amount of dogs that have used product. My 102 lb black lab starts coming out of his skin. Can't sit, lay down, panting, whining - now going 8 hours - emergency vet say not a lot they can do. It has to run its course. My dog is suffering and there's not a damn thing I can do about it. This product should come with WARNING clearly marked to let people know this could happen. If you look on the Internet there are hundreds of dogs having same reactions. I now have to tell my children we cannot go on vacation they pack for and think we are leaving in morning. Thanks Sentry great product!!!

Sentry PurrScriptions Plus Squeeze-On for Cats and Kittens - My boyfriend applied this product on my cat Sammy who is 5 years old and our other cat who is about a year old. My cat Sammy of course didn't like it very much and took off outside. A few hours later I called for him to come inside but he was acting strange, not really wanting in the house, and was kind of hyper. When he did come in the house, he did not eat, which is odd for him. He also did not want to be touched, anywhere, another odd things for him. He was jumping on things, could not get comfortable, just up and down. He was bleeding on his skin on the site of the area the medication was applied to, not a lot, it was more like a surface type bleeding where the skin had been burnt. His neck and back was also having muscle tremors and it appeared his stomach was pumping up and down faster than normal.

I ended up taking him to an emergency vet service at 11:30 at night which was an hour and half away. I was told that the medication we applied was toxic and my cat was having a bad reaction. The also said she had seen many cases and even showed me pictures of animals that had over the counter flea and tick medication applied to them and each had some serious consequences, hair fell out, burnt skins, bleeding, signs of poison. The vet ended up giving my cat a bath with Dawn dish soap. She said that Dawn helps pulls the oils from the medication from the skin. It helped my cat a lot. It was a very stressful situation for him.

Now for the cat that is about a year old, he did not experience any symptoms like my cat Sammy did. But my one year old cat is also 100% outdoor cat and he had been out wandering in the rain (he actually likes it), so that may have washed some of the product off, I'm not sure. Please be careful with what you put on your animals. Paying the extra cost for medication that is from the vet will be worth it. To be fair to the product, it could have been my cat was just more sensitive to the medication. I have used different products over the years and not had any issues.

I thought I would share my story since I have yet to read about this exact experience. I have always noticed my dog acting odd after applying the Sentry product (bought from BJ's Wholesale Club). He will obnoxiously rub all over the furniture and the rugs for the next day. I thought this was just part of the process and kind of shrugged it off. Well tonight I applied it, then took my dog out a couple hours later. He started rolling all over the grass, ripping at it, then jumped up, yelping and in a frenzy, and bolted down the street! I had to load my children in the car, at 10:30 at night, to find my frightened dog crossing a major road half a mile from our house. Now, while I can't directly connect these two incidents (the applying of the medicine and the running away), my dog NEVER runs away and acts like this. He is a mess right now. Just thankful he was not hit and killed. Please, PLEASE watch your pet closely after using this stuff. As for me, I am returning to Frontline with which I had no issues.

I wish I would have read the reviews first. I have not seen ONE good review. Please take this product off the shelf!!

I used the SentryPro flea and tick control on my dog last night. It was the most horrible experience. Within a very short time she was extremely agitated, panting and unable to get comfortable, very stressed out. It attempted to wipe it off of her and then called the emergency number on the package. They were very helpful with their advice. Told me to bathe her in Dawn, try cold packs and vitamin E on her skin. I was up most of the night with her. I didn't even use the whole tube on her and am glad didn't.

I have used other flea control products on her with out any problems. She is doing well today, just very tired. This is a horrible product and should be outlawed. Wish I would of researched it before I used it. Does anyone know if any kind of steps being taken to get this stuff off the market or warn people about it?

We applied Sentry Fiproguard for Cats to our 1 year old, healthy cat as directed on the package - in fact I put it up a little higher on her neck, rather than between shoulder blades as instructed so she wouldn't be able to reach around to lick it off. We applied it at night and by morning she was twitching all over and becoming lethargic. We took her in to the Emergency Clinic and they were able to save her, but they said she wouldn't have made it without intervention. It cost us $538!

I purchased SentryPro XFT to treat the fleas my dogs picked up on a walk through our new neighborhood. My 10-year-old Schnauzer JJ and 5-year-old Yorkie Chloe had never had fleas when we lived in the city, but due to financial issues, I had to move out of town. The rent is so much cheaper. It's well worth the commute, but now I regret it because of the suffering my babies are going through. As I said, money is tight, so I was delighted to find a less expensive option than Frontline and assumed if Petco was selling it that it would be safe. How wrong I was.

Shortly after applying, JJ began whining, scratching and biting at the air. Chloe was scratching but not as frantic. 2 days later, JJ had licked an area of his hind quarters raw and they both still have fleas. I just washed them both down with Dawn twice tonight after reading the reports and being horrified. I was literally crying as I washed them, thinking I had bought a product that hurt them because I literally had $50 to my name and was afraid I might run out of gas and not be able to get to work if I bought the Frontline. How can a product that harms and can potentially kill pets still be on the shelves?

We applied this to the back of our three-year-old cat's neck. We have recently moved to a coastal area where fleas are a problem. It was very oily and she immediately tried to get it off, although she could not reach the back of her neck. Since that time she has become agitated and jumpy and has twitches in her back legs and hitches when she runs. We are taking her to the vets today. They said it was probably an allergic reaction to the medication, but now I am reading comments from other people with problems and think she has been poisoned by this product.

I am a part-time caretaker to my neighbor’s cat, Cody. We discovered Cody had picked up fleas. His owner purchased Sentry PurrScriptions Plus. I treated Cody with the product according to the directions. He acted like it burned. I noted the product was spreading looking very oily. I figured he just didn't like the wet feel. Within an hour he started vomiting and had dark, nearly black, diarrhea. He acted like he was in pain. Hours later I tried to get him to eat but he refused which is very strange. This poor guy was horribly ill. I washed him off with Dawn but he was still oily. He is still oily today and it has been 5 days since he was treated. He seems okay now but time will tell. He has always been healthy until this product poisoned him. STAY AWAY from Sentry Please! This product was recommended by the staff at the store.

I, like everyone else, saw this product in Pet Smart and figured that they would not sell something that was not a product that had been tested and was reliable. I was wrong. Within 10 minutes of applying this product, my dog started twitching and scratching. He seemed to anxious and was trying to scratch in places he couldn't reach. I took him to the vet who gave him a cortisone shot. This helped somewhat, but not enough to make him comfortable. He refused to eat, even his favorite snack. Two days later he has eaten some of his favorite snack, some of my special K Cereal (which he loves). He is as active as he was.

However, he appears to be itchy, although not as much, and continues to have twitches on his right side and some sensitivity when you pet his right side. He also still jumps suddenly like he is being stuck with something. This, I think, is a sudden itch. I plan on taking him back to the vet to get some blood work, and hopefully some medication for the tremors. I am hoping that this may work until the flea and tick crap wears off and out of his system. Hopefully this is possible.

When applying, it seemed greasy so I took a paper towel and wiped some off. I then took a wet paper towel and wiped him. Although he is 25 lbs, and I bought the for 21 lbs, I felt like it was a lot, so I did not apply the whole tube. I believe that doing that has probably saved my dog's life. I usually research before using products, why I didn't this time I don't know. Please make sure you research things you buy especially for your pets. I will be taking mine back to pet Smart and asking why they haven't pulled this product. I really feel that there should be a class action suit of some kind. I just don't the how to get this started. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!!!!!!

To all of you, I totally agree. Like many of us, I went the less expensive route because I was in PetSmart (yeah right) and purchased this product on a whim (usually Frontline). After a few minutes, my boy Floyd was twitching and scratching giving that "what did you do to me?" look. He spazzed out for a day. I gave him a bath and a Benadryl and that seemed to help. Still fleas! He was a hot mess in the morning and he was a scratching pup. I called my vet and asked if I could give him a dose of Frontline right away and she compared the chems from this ** product and said OK. I'm happy to say after 2 days, he is back to normal. No itchy and scratchy with a look of "thank you pop and Frontline". I'm not an advocate and don't work for the co. but that is my tale. My boy Floyd said "Don't skimp out on me again pop" (the way that dogs do)... It's a helpless feeling being a pet owner watching this happen. SHAME ON HARTZ. FYI I found out the chems they use in this crap are ancient chems from the first days of flea treatment. Delivered in a model T Ford.

With all of the rain and hot weather this summer we've had a big concern for a larger amount of ticks moving into our area. I have a 14 lb Lhasa-Poo who is regularly treated with the 1800petmeds.com brand monthly flea drops and it's worked great at a very reasonable price. Concerned about ticks, I instead purchased Sentry FiproGuard Plus IGH(?) for his appropriate rate. Being part poodle, he can be a little jumpy and barking easily during the day but not to the point where he becomes an annoyance. After putting the first dose on him, I started noticing how agitated he became over the next 24 hours. He takes prednisone on a regular basis (5 grams day) for skin allergies he was born with. He's only fed a 100% grain free diet, Joint/Vitamin Chewies and an herbal supplement on his dinner to try to compensate for the immune system compromises that the prednisone affects.

As he takes these extra supplements, I have to admit it did take me 3 days to finally figure out why he's so nervous. Being a Lhasa-Poo, he cannot reach any part of his back to chew or even scratch at (short neck, short legs). Today I ran the product through the search engine and found these reviews. I guess he's lucky he didn't need a vet's care. Guilt does even begin to describe how bad I feel about causing these symptoms in my best friend. We'll have to deal with it until it wears off and the other 5 monthly doses will go in the garbage. Since he only goes outside for short periods with me, I'm going back to the flea only medicine that worked fine. I, too, am outraged at the continued sale of such a product. People are buying it because times are tight and then to end up with vet bills on top of wasted money on top of purchasing different flea meds is ridiculous!!

I applied Sentry Fiproguard Max to my 3-yr-old kitty Rosa EXACTLY AS DIRECTED (who by the way had a yearly exam just two weeks before and given a clean bill of health). I even watched her like a hawk to make sure she didn't try to lick any of it. She seemed fine for about 4 hours playing in the yard. Then I made her come inside because of the heat. Everything went downhill from there... She went to sleep and only got up 1 time, used the litter box and then started acting like her back legs didn't work and vomited foam everywhere, wouldn't eat anything. Called the # on the box. Said to take her to the vet. Before I got her in the car, she was dead - 23 hours after application.

How the hell is this poison on the shelves???? Look at all the dead animals and heartbreak. My vet is now doing a full necropsy to prove this is what killed my cat. Yes it will cost a bit but I recommend doing this for Anyone that had an animal murdered by this poison. If a settlement is offered, I will turn it down and take them to court. This was my six-year-old daughter's cat. I'm so completely in awe that this crap is on the shelves after all of these horrifying stories and the # on the box stated, "I am very sorry about your loss. However I never believe comments posted online." I would lol if I wasn't puking from grief... my God.

We washed her with Dawn dish soap and saw some improvement and took her immediately to the vet when they opened this morning. Many tests, fluids and bloodwork later, she still does not have use of her back legs... praying desperately she is ok. I WILL NEVER BUY THIS PRODUCT and will do everything I can to warn others...

When she did that I hung up and immediately started bathing him. After ten minutes of bathing he seemed to come out of it. Five minutes later he was doing it all over again much worse. Yesterday at 9:30AM, I applied SentryPro Squeeze-on Flea and Tick Control for Dogs. It was the 3rd time in 2 years that I have used this product. The first 2 times I used it my dog, Kelly did not have a reaction to it. This time she did.

Kelly is a 13-1/2 year old Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier who weighs 45 lbs and she just got a clean bill of health from the vet. I went to bed last night around 10PM and Kelly seemed fine. My husband came to bed about an hour later and said that Kelly seemed to have a hard time settling down and she was panting a little. He let her outside and when she came in, she seemed to settle down.

This morning at 5AM was another story. She was pacing and panting and clearly uncomfortable. I immediately thought about the flea and tick application I had given her yesterday and decided to Google Sentry Pro and that let me to this website. I have since bathed Kelly with Dawn dish soap and given her a Benadryl. She seems somewhat better, but still not quite herself. Needless to say, the last dose of this is going in the garbage and I will never buy it again.

I applied Sentry Plus in the early evening to my two small dogs. Upon reflection, I should have noticed they became agitated within an hour of application. By bedtime they were pacing, panting, barking, rubbing their ears on the floor. The poodle started to choke and cough around midnight and I finally realized that they were reacting to the Sentry and she might be experiencing a dangerous anaphylaxis reaction. The package warning mentions irritation at the site but no other reaction.

I bathed both of the dogs and gave them Benadryl. They stayed agitated and uncomfortable throughout the night until morning when they finally slept. I gave them another bath and additional Benadryl and they are now eating and seem to have recovered. I only treat them for fleas in the summer and usually use Frontline, dividing one application for small dogs, between the two, so I cut the strength in half. I followed package dosage instructions when I applied the Sentry which was a mistake. The dosage is far too strong for small dogs.

I should have looked at the reviews before using Sentry. When I took the product back to Petsmart the manager doubted my story and said they wouldn't carry an unsafe product though he did exchange the product because I'm a regular customer. I feel fortunate there wasn't a disastrous result from this product. I don't recommend this product. I suggest for any type of flea prevention, use half the recommended dosage to be safe.

I gave him Benadryl and washed him with Dawn and water 2 hours after application... but to my surprise it really did not help him at all. I felt terrible due to the fact that I bought product because of low cost. I can't believe this or these types of products are even sold. Now I am questioning all flea and tick monthly treatments. DO NOT USE!! I put it on our tabby Kiki. She first got very aggressive as I even placed a drop on her. She is one of the most loving touching and desires to be touched and held cat. The reaction was a total 360 for her! I first thought maybe because I held her a bit tighter than normal, although she has never ever been aggressive in any way. She lives with us humans, as well as our large dog that are best friends. I placed the 'poison' on her and she immediately her back especially started spasming, as well as other parts of her body (back and shoulders were worse)! She meowed several times loud like she was in pain. When I first placed it on her, she took off and ran like crazy all over the place. She then tried everything she could to try to get to it to lick it off. Her pupils stayed wide even with light. She spasmed for hours and hours, even though I tried to get it off of her. Obviously it soaked into her skin quickly, or she may have gotten to it. She is very flexible and double jointed too. I did put it on as instructed!

I decided at first that maybe because she is just a little over 5 lbs and I bought it for 5 lbs or more. I don't think so now that I researched it thoroughly. The 'poison' they use causes nerve damage (Etofenprox) to the fleas and obviously to the animals also. Kiki did not act normal for a long while even though I tried to take it off. The spasms continued overnight and the next day. They did seem to lessen, but they still happened. If anyone has had muscle spasms, one can figure the pain she was in. Where it was placed on her became red and inflamed also. She lost hair in the area also. The combination of the two active 'poisons' I believe contributes to the worse reactions since a few things I did read about it also can cause some of the same symptoms (pyriproxyfen) which basically prevents the reproductions of the flea (attacks eggs and larvae, by what I understand does not allow the growth or viability).

Dumb me! I tried to save money because we are so tight. I also had not researched as well as I usually do. I ran in to get something because we saw our dog and cat had fleas. Kiki stays totally in the house. I picked this up because it seemed to attack everything, which I wanted to be sure mosquitoes were included, as well as the eggs and larvae. After I was watching her like a hawk to be sure she was okay, I seriously laughed at myself. She never goes out! Why was I so worried about her being protected from mosquitoes. Our dog we needed it for, but not Kiki our cat!

Our dog had to have brought them into the house. Although we try hard to keep them protects including the yard, unfortunately we have strays, especially cats running our neighborhood. From experience, they bring whatever they are infected more infested with into our yard. Our dog squats and picks up the little critters that jump on her. I am seriously going back to trying some more ideas that are more natural. I have heard cedar oil works to prevent fleas. I also am not going to buy just because the cost is less. At the end, if I lose a baby because of this kind of 'poison' I could not live with myself! I would feel like I killed my baby! It destroys me enough to see my baby suffer. I will go back to something I know that does not seem to attack my baby like this.

NO MATTER WHAT, DO NOT BUY SENTRY DOG AND CAT PRODUCTS FOR FLEAS. I should have known better since our dog had horrific reactions with SENTRY products when she was younger. I never bought them for her anymore. Why didn't I take heed and not get this 'POISON' for my baby Kiki! Please do not put it on your babies! Prayers for all. God bless.

After about 2 hours after applying the collar on our Jack Russell terrier, we noticed he could not stand up or lift his head! He was on his dog bed and was laying in a weird position and could not get up. He smelled like the flea collar. I immediately knew something was wrong from that flea collar and removed it. I called the 800 number on the box and they said this product has NO SIDE EFFECTS. What a lie!!!! This stuff is poison and no animal should have this on them. I read on this website to wash the dog with Dawn dishwashing liquid, luckily I have some. Even after towel drying him in the house which was nice and warm inside, his teeth were chattering and body shaking.

This never ever happened even before when he has had a bath. He had muscle twitching and is so lethargic. Hope to God he is gonna be ok. He is a 10-year old Jack Russell who is a big part of our lives. We love him. I bought Sentry tick and flee medication for my dog at Petsmart, mainly for the price (much lower than K9 Advantix). I had been using the product for about 2 months on my 70 lbs chocolate lab with no issues. The evening after I applied the 3rd months dosage, my dog woke up in the middle of the night yelping. She had lost movement in her tail, was salivating, and panting like crazy. Her back legs also seemed to lose mobility. I immediately put her in the bath and washed her back where the medication had been put on. That seemed to help a little but she kept looking over her back like there was a bug biting her. The next morning we gave her Benadryl and a bath using Dawn soap.

This helped big time! Slowly the symptoms began to go away, but she still will look over her back occasionally like something is biting her. We found out that was nerve damage from the Sentry medication. I cannot believe that they allow this product to be sold in stores. I have read so many horror stories on here and all over the internet about what this product has done to cats and dogs. I do not recommend this product and I will never use it again. I will buy the medication that vets recommend no matter what the cost is as my dog's health and well being is much much more important.

At first the area got irritate and the dog scratched it causing a wound that scabbed up. I am fostering the dog and 2 days after I took him in (a few days after the application), a full blown oozing "hot spot" (the vet's words) emerged. It was extremely painful. Although there's no confirmation it was caused by the Sentry, it was in the location it was applied so the vet assumes that was the cause. The dog requires antibiotics, steroids, and 2x per day cleansing of the wound and topical medication.

Yesterday morning I applied the Sentry Pro XFT to my 120 lb Rottweiler. He immediately was trying to itch and scratch where the product was applied. I thought he was just having a skin reaction so I used some wipes to wipe as much of the product off as I could. His reaction only escalated. He was madly trying to get to the spot where the product was applied. He could not sit still and was pacing the house. He had involuntary spasms and movements in his body and began hacking and making choking noises. It was like something was after him that only he could see. He used the bathroom in the house repeatedly which is very unlike my dog. I luckily have a friend that works for a vet so she told me to immediately wash him with Dawn and he was given Benadryl. This only relieved the itching slightly.

This reaction lasted all night last night. He was terrified and sat on me almost all night twitching and spasming in between pacing up in down the stairs repeatedly. He did not finally lay down and actually sleep again until 4:30 a.m. He still is not completely normal but is resting finally. He now has an open wound between his shoulders and blisters up his neck from this product. My dog is also diabetic and the stress this caused him has affected his insulin as well. I am fairly certain that if I had not been home yesterday to see his reaction, that this product would have killed my dog. I cannot believe this product is still on the shelves with as many complaints as there are and as many pets have been harmed and these are just the ones that wrote a complaint. My cat is probably 8 lbs and is 1 year 2 months old. He ventures indoors and outdoors, sleeps at the foot of the bed and wakes my wife & I by getting up in our faces and rubbing up on us with his motor going. He follows us on neighborhood walks. We feed him Blue Buffalo cat food products which is a great quality cat product. Anyway, our cat has not had any problems but we were worried about the mosquitoes, fleas and ticks that may be emerging as we enter Summer in Northern, MI. So, we were shopping at Tractor Supply and I noticed this product. It was more expensive than some of the additional products. I read the warnings and I felt that it should be ok if it is on the shelf and being sold as a pet treatment.

I applied it at night and put our cat to sleep downstairs in a back room so that he wouldn't get the pesticide on us. I checked on him an hour after application. He was extremely groggy and had a hard time focusing on me... His eyes had a glaze over them as well (unusual behavior for him and I've never seen his eyes do that). He did begin eating but he was overshooting his dish as he trying to get at his kibble and I noticed he was salivating heavily. It was 12:30 in the morning at this point and I began reading complaints about this product. I felt absolutely terrible that I poisoned my cat. I checked on him in the morning and he didn't really want to go outside but I got him up and going. My wife and I brought him back inside and left for work.

When we returned from work, his fur coat where I applied the product and fallen out in a strip. I picked him up and immediately washed him with a gentle soap. He slept all day as far as I know and was inside all day and is back to being sleepy after getting dried off. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. It is not safe... it IS TOXIC. I wish I had done my research prior to purchasing. I will not apply the remaining two vials and feel that this was a risk not worth taking. I can only pray and hope that there is not any long term damage to my cat. He has a loving personality because my wife and I spend a lot of time with him and he knows that we are his family. As much as I think PETA is over the top, Peta.org has SAFE remedies to help build up a healthy coat/immune system for your pet and healthier remedies to combat such things.

Each time he moved, he would lay down as if he wanted to relax but couldn't. The whole evening he was panting as if he was out chasing the squirrels. At this point, we didn't even think of the medicine being the issue since we got it from Pet Smart and if they were selling it, it couldn't be harmful. The evening didn't go well for him, he just couldn't rest.

The following morning, he was still itching and acting odd. We gave him a Benadryl hoping he could rest during the day when we were at work. That evening we got worried it may be a reaction to the flea meds and had our daughter do some research on the web. We were shocked that there was 216 complaints and quite a few of them were Pugs. It was sad to read that some got very sick and even read of deaths. We washed the stuff with soap and water but then noticed he developed some sores on his back. We had to take him to the vet for an antibiotic and a topical spray.

The worst part about this is we chose this product because of the price. With all of having smart phones, we should have researched this before buying it. I quickly washed my dogs in Dawn several times, Opie ended up in the ER vet because of hives, itching etc. both of the dogs kept us up all night for a few the last week.

This product is absolute poison. I have filed a complaint with this company and am seeking medical reimbursement. Save yourself and your poor dog the pain and suffering and do not buy this product. I have posted this to social media, in hopes that people will spread the word. I really hope a class action law suit closes this company down for good. Some dogs have died. How many complaints does this company need to realize that they are profiting from poisoning innocent dogs and putting their owners through absolute hell?? Definitely will be speaking to the manager of the pet store whose employee recommended this product. Absolutely disgusted and feel horribly guilty for my dogs whom after a week are still experiencing muscle spasms and lethargy.

I applied Sentry Pro around 6PM on my dog (a 100 lbs Labrador), and at around 7PM, he lost movement on both of his back legs. I asked him to stand up and he couldn't. I started to freak out of course. Then, he started to scratch and chew at his back, rolling on the floor to scratch back, and it was highly hyper/agitated. Wanting to know what was going on, I decided to read several reviews from Sentry Pro and found out how bad this product is. More than 200 reviews saying that dogs almost died, and owners had to give them baths using Dawn to take the stuff out. Sentry Pro is very oily, so that is why you have to wash your dog with Dawn.

After giving my dog two baths, I took him to the emergency room. Several dogs died due to allergic reactions to Sentry Pro. Because is a cheaper brand, people tend to buy it but I wish they knew how dangerous this thing is. DON'T EVER BUY IT. EVER. Long story short, I spent $193 at my vet's office. My dog received a shot of Benadryl (Diphenhydramine) and Dexamethasone SP 4mg/ml. Seeing my dog cry, scratch his whole body, lose so much hair, nearly died, I am here saying to all dog lovers - don't ever buy this product!!!!!!

I put Sentry Pro FXT flea and tick on my 5 year old Shih Tzu yesterday at 5:00 pm. By 9:00 he was acting very strange. He was panting, licking and licking his front paws. He kept barking at me. He was restless and pacing. He couldn't get comfortable. By 10:30 I thought it could be the tick medication so I gave him a bath. His symptoms did not subside. I took him to the vet today and the doctor thinks it was the Sentry. My dog paced and acted odd all day. He never slept all day. I gave him a Benadryl and he is finally sleeping, 24 hours after washing off the tick medication. I've always used Frontline without any issues, tried to save money with cheaper option, I learned my lesson!

I first researched this product in comparison to Frontline which I normally use. First mistake was going to Sentry to check it out; of course they will endorse it, saying it was equal to Frontline. Immediately, I noticed changes in my cat. He began losing weight, lost a circular area of fur on his head, poops in the house, and most times diarrhea, which he has never done. Gags and throws up his food, and when his stomach was empty, it is mucus. It has been over a month now, he is lethargic, sleeps all day, is no longer playful, won't go outside which he loved to do, is so skinny his spine shows, and drinks lots of water.

I am hoping eventually it will leave his system and he will return to normal without permanent damage. If a class action is pursued, I am definitely in. This company needs to be stopped. We as consumers love our animals and would never intentionally cause harm or even death to them. Why are they (Sentry) allowed to produce products that may kill/harm our animals which are so dear to us.

Last year in August, I bought Sentry Pro XFT at PetSmart for my 2 pugs because the ticks were especially bad. We had just applied it (1 tube for 2 pugs under 25 lbs. each). Three dabs as directed, not even one whole tube for 2 dogs. As soon as the "poison" was applied, both dogs acted like the devil was chasing them, looking over their shoulders, running around, trying to get under the bed, just plain crazy for these laid back dogs. I called the phone number on the package, was told to bathe them in Dawn which we did. Our smallest seemed to get a little better and we thought that with time they both would work this out of their systems. WRONG!!!

At 2 am we were on our way to the Pet Emergency office with our oldest pug (5 yrs.) She just couldn't calm down. She was panting and going nuts, couldn't get comfortable. They put her in an oxygen cage and we had to go back and pick her up around dawn. They advised us to let them take her to our regular vet with an oxygen tank, but we took her home as she seemed a little better. My husband kept saying that it would work out of her system but it would take time. In the meantime, we were just frantic because we all love our pets and they depend so much on us. Bridget seemed better that day so we didn't do anything else. Early the next morning she was going the other way. I took her to the vet. He said that her lungs had fluid in them and he gave her Lasix to try to clear up the fluid. He kind of admitted that he had seen this before with this product. This whole time she was panting like crazy.

When this was all said and done, she panted almost 2 whole days and was in misery. The vet said to leave her at his office, he put her in an oxygen cage and had administered medications and he said we should come back that evening and we would go from there. Mid-afternoon, the vet called me and said that Bridget had died. Her heart gave out. I am crying now as I type this. This was not what my wonderful little girl pug deserved. I miss her every day and blame myself for not researching this vile product - poison.

The manufacturer is aware of everything that happened and sent me paperwork to fill out. I dutifully filled it out although very painful to do. I was not looking for money (maybe just a hope that the poison would be taken off the market). I received a reply: The company extends their deepest sympathy but our dog had some underlying condition that killed her. Come on. How stupid do they think I am? I just did not feel that it was worth fighting with them so I didn't do anything else. It would not bring my Bridget back.

I hope that this post will do more and that consumers will read this and think long and hard before using this product on their beloved pets. I wish I would have seen something like this. On the bright side, our younger pug survived with some liver function issues according to our vet. She seems normal now. I know she misses her sister Bridget also. This post is for you, Bridget. I'm sorry and I hope you are in heaven playing with Ernie.

I had used Sentry Calming Spray for my cat because I was moving and thought it would be a good idea. I had used another type which was like a wipe in the past and it had worked well but this was a spray which I thought would be more convenient. I sprayed her carrier with it as it says on the directions and she was well with it. The trip - which was not a long car ride, about an hour was tolerated fine. Having moved before with her, I knew that I had to take steps to keep her calm during the time that the movers were bringing things in and out and then in my new apartment. I followed all the rules about keeping them in a small area with their food, litter and toys - she was ok.

However, this is the big question and I'm really desperate to find out if anyone else has had similar issues. She totally stopped eating, drinking and pooping. I had to take her to a vet and they gave her two enemas which made her go the day after. It's now been 4 days and no poop. She is peeing. She will not eat or drink any water. Emergency vet took blood tests which for the most part are all good. He now wants me to see a GI vet. I'm wondering if it's the spray that is causing this. If you have had similar issues, please contact me. Thanks so much.

Applied it to my 5 yr old female healthy FLEA and Tick free Pit/Shepherd mix to prevent spring infestation due to unusually warm winter with no rain weight approx. 60 lbs. The first evening after application Annie began chewing at her hind quarters and whining constantly. I thought maybe she had a foxtail or other irritation never suspecting the flea medication or even fleas since she did not have any. I looked at her itchy area with a flashlight and magnifying glass to rule out possible bugs, foxtails and as the night progressed her symptoms worsened. She was having spasms in her stomach and hind leg muscles, twitching and couldn't sit still. She begged me to help her, she was MISERABLE and so I knew it had to be the medication.

I washed her down with Dawn dish soap and gave her Benadryl and a cold compress. This seemed to calm her for a little bit and this twitching chewing and inability for her to lie still continued all thru the night and into the next day. I called Sergeant who has a medical emergency number and they said she was having a reaction to the medication and that I was right to use Dawn though I only washed off her hind area. I returned the product and had to buy vitamin E oil and a hose to reach her since she refused to get back into the freezing cold water outside and I can't lift her.

She is still flipping all over the house, still chewing at her hind quarters and I have given her 3 baths with Dawn and more Benadryl and even some cortisone spray. Still no relief. I need to take her into a vet and don't have the money so I am calling Sergeant back to see if they will pay to examine her and help relieve her symptoms since clearly it is caused by the product. I purchased this product thinking it was FIPRO as I have been using this in the past without issue. The packaging is nearly identical and I feel the company should address this other product as it has proven itself to be dangerous and is causing the same type of issues with many other users according to the reviews. All say the same or much worse. It needs to be taken off the market, it's toxic to dogs and they were able to describe her symptoms even better than I did when I called them for help.

One dog had a disturbing reaction. A few hours after application, he began to twitch and run around the house, sometimes scratching at the site of application. He could not be still. It was as if he were on speed, but also twitching. I gave Benedryl (as instructed online and by my vet), washed his back, and finally took him for a steroid injection. Nothing helped. It took about 48 hours for him to settle down.

I don't know whether to blame the product or to just assume he is one of those unlucky dogs who is allergic to something in it. The whole incident was very upsetting to me and to my dog, plus it cost me $66.00 at the vet. I'm not sure what to do with the other boxes. I won't use the stuff on him, but I'm a little worried about using it on my other dog after reading about seizures, liver damage, etc. Good grief. I was also dismayed to see that nowhere on the box of the product does it say where it is manufactured.

I called the number listed on the package and was advised to wash the application spot with Dawn and repeat that 3 times. I also called my son in case we had to take him to the er for pets. My dog could not even stand/walk. It was the saddest thing ever to see him trying to reach me as I was trying to get the number for this evil company that keeps producing this product even though they have an extensive record of problems (even deaths) of dogs due to its use.

Thanks to God, after 2 hours he started coming out, the shaking eventually stopped and he was walking even though wobbly. He will sleep with me tonight so I can keep an eye on him. This was very upsetting to me as I adore my dog. To make matters worse, when they transferred me to the Customer Service to get a refund for the product, the representative was very rude. She could not email me the address to send request. She said that I had to write it down. Of course, I was still trying to hold my dog to keep him from shaking. She gave me the address very fast and I could not write it that quickly. She seemed really bothered by my requests to repeat information slowly. After telling her if she had a problem I could talk to someone else, she settled down. I lost the call.

Thank God because I was in no shape to argue with this lady. I am very furious to find out that this flea medication has a bad record with complaints dating to at least 2007 that I could find online. Nevertheless, they have not removed this poison from the market. I am thinking that one of the ingredients that paralyzes the fleas via their central nervous system, also affects the dog's cns. I am so mad and saddened that this can happen in this time and age. I will never buy anything at Pet Smart. SHAME on this company for selling this product which I am sure they are aware is harmful or even deadly to your pet. They will be receiving a letter from me of course. I didn't want to take any chances on him getting any more ticks. I applied this product and like the other folks in this review, after about an hour Alfalfa was acting very strange. He was plopping down trying to scratch, moving non stop, wouldn't settle down, whimpering, crying and panting. He was flexing the skin on his back.

The box stated if there is a reaction to bath the animal in mild soap with lots of water which I did. It did not help. After a few more hours I called the number on the box. They stated the name of the chemical and that it is common for some dogs to have this reaction, like a tingling and they don't like it so they react in this way. They said to bath him with Dawn to cut the oil and to apply Vitamin E oil every hours or so where the product was and to use cold compresses and if it doesn't subside in a few hours to call back. I bathed him with the Dawn twice with lots of water and we are using the cool compresses and oil. He calmed down only a little at this point. we are keeping a good eye on him.

The medical side of the company was very helpful when I called. I also called the company for a refund and they also were very helpful with explaining how to get a refund. It is very upsetting to see this going on with your pet and not knowing what it is or what to do. Save yourself the worry and stress - don't get this product.

Normally, we use Front Line but because the weather has turned and the Sentry Pro was on sale, I thought we could get through the winter and save a few dollars. Once applied to our dogs, it was only a matter of an hour or so when the puppy began yipping and acting very nervous. She started shaking and nipping at herself.

The big dog began shaking his head as if his ears were bothering him and then the panting began. Both dogs began heavy panting and they were both now twitching and shaking their heads. The puppy had it worse than the big dog and we were up all night with them. We were afraid she was breaking down. Neither would drink or eat anything. It was a terrible site to watch. In the morning I began to look for information on the internet when I found the overwhelming information on reactions to this product.

We used detergent and a rag to wash the area as best we could to remove anything left from the application and gave them both Benadryl. We continued with the Benadryl and care for our dogs until all the side effects were gone. This took over 3 days. Gave the dog a flea bath with Sentry Flea and Tick Shampoo around 6 pm. He started acting a little strange at 10 pm, put him to bed and he slept through the night. At 6 am this morning, we heard a lot of noise and came downstairs to the dog having a major seizure, vomiting, urinating and defecating. He has never had an issue before and this was the first time we have given him Sentry Flea and Tick Shampoo. Extremely scary and now I'm worried that he will have lasting issues.

I purchased 4 boxes of Sentry Fiproguard (3 tubes in each box) on Sept. 16, which was received a few days later and used immediately on my 12 cats (I am a foster home for a cat/kitten rescue). It has been two weeks now and we have more fleas than before as this stuff did not work at all. I contacted Petco and was offered a refund of less than half of what I paid, which was $86.00. I usually use Advantage or Frontline, which have always worked, but trying to save a few dollars I will now end up spending about $200.00. I have learned my lesson. I will only buy Advantage or Frontline as in the long run it will save me money. I would have been happy if they applied the $86.00 I had already spent toward the equal number of packages of Advantage or Frontline. I will NEVER buy anything from Petco again as they have proven themselves untrustworthy and won't stand behind what they sell.

I applied Sentry Flea & Tick Squeeze on my 9 year old dog due to a mild flea problem. The next day my dog had a major seizure and was rushed to the hospital. They had no idea what it was until I told them about the flea medication I put on. They said likely a severe reaction. My dog was in perfect health. I brought him to my vet first thing in the morning, had a complete blood workup, perfect results, of course I mentioned the flea product. And he said that Sentry is garbage and his suspicions is that it did neurological damage, but can’t prove it.

I bathed him to see what I could get off. He is still extremely lethargic, but has not had another seizure today. I spent close to 400.00 between the emergency hospital and my vet and want to proceed with a lawsuit. It is beyond my comprehension that this poison is allowed on the market. I have a small Cavalier Spaniel named Hunter who had an awful case of fleas a few weeks back. We bought this product after a "natural, oatmeal enriched" one couldn't cure him of the pesky bugs. It sure works. Fleas were immobilized and it looked like many of their legs melted off from the poison lather. My brother and I spent about three hours kneeling at the bath tub picking out all the little fleas. We found we had to take breaks every 20 minutes because the toxic smell from the shampoo we were inhaling made us nauseous. I hate to imagine how my dog felt, playing host to this toxic goop with his keen sense of smell. Hunter is not the smartest dog, but no joke, I wouldn't be shocked if he lost some of his few brain cells from breathing in this product.

A few hours after the long bath, Hunter started acting very jumpy and strange just as others have described their pets behaving here. He refused food for two days including treats, which is absurd considering I have - literally - never known my dog to walk away from a Snausage. It's been three weeks since this then, and the good news is the fleas are gone. Great. His fleas were a nightmare and I'm glad Sentry helped me get them off my friend Hunter. But unfortunately I now have a new problem. His skin has stayed bright red for a couple weeks since and he often scratches and bites at himself. Today I was heartbroken to hear him yelp out in pain as he scratched over a raw patch of skin. I called Sentry and was told to give him a bath with gentle soap. I will do this and hope for the best, and hope anyone reading this will consider Sentry Flea and Tick shampoo with CAUTION.

I rushed her to the bathtub and washed her with a botanical soap as fast as I could, then gave her activated charcoal as soon as I could force her mouth open. She seems to be lucid now. Watching her very closely, as well as the other 5. Never, ever had a problem with Advantage II. Thought I would save some money with this product, and it almost killed one of my cats. She started by acting sleepy after 1/2 an hour and crawled up on my lap... then she peed all over me and I knew something was wrong. I immediately put her in the tub and started rinsing her with warm water, then bathed her with Dawn to remove as much of the product as I could. I should have read the reviews on this product first because this took me totally by surprise. DO NOT PUT THIS ON YOUR CAT. Take it to the trash and burn it... SERIOUSLY!!! We purchased Sentry PurrScriptions plus for adult cats at Petsmart as we recently had a flea problem and had five indoor cats. We also aren't in the best financial situation, so the $15 price tag was a lot more affordable than Frontline, which we had always used without any problems. In the end, we are left with an atrocious vet bill and we have to bury one of our babies. They seemed fine when it was applied, but our black ragamuffin seemed to be lethargic the next day, so we took her to the vet and she did everything she could but the cat had to be put down the following morning (9/8/13) because of becoming anemic and falling into a coma. The vet doesn't know if the anemia was related to the fleas, but the flea medication definitely poisoned her.

The other four cats seem all right, but not their usual energetic selves. I am not sure if this garbage has made them sick to a lesser extent or if they are upset because their big sister did not come home. Either way I am very worried, and absolutely shocked that this is what I get for trying to save a few dollars. I will be sending this company my vet bill, even though no amount of money will compensate for our loss. It isn't killing the fleas either, if anything they seem worse than before.

THIS IS ALSO BAD FOR HUMANS. For two days after applying this, even though I washed my hands and definitely did not ingest any of the medication, I was nauseous and had a headache. Finally it seems to have cleared up, but according to what I found on the internet this is a common side effect. So not only did it kill one of my cats, but it made me sick as well. I never had any of these problems with Frontline. I would never recommend this to anyone unless they want a horrible way to cause an animal pain and possibly kill it. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money on a reputable product. Just be sure to get it from somewhere you trust such as your vet because there is a lot of fake Frontline out there.

They both appear to want it off. The reaction only lasts for 15 to 20 minutes and they are perfectly fine afterwards. I took her to the vet and her temperature had dropped to 99.8 deg. By this time, she wasn't even able to hold her head up. They gave her warm fluid treatments to combat the temperature drop and dehydration and IV meds to reduce the neurological effects she was having. We're waiting on the results of her blood work to see what damage has been done to her organs. I have to give her daily subcutaneous fluid treatments and to syringe feed her. At least, she's drinking and urinating now, but she's still unable to hold herself up. So far, the others haven't had a reaction, but I've washed it off of all of them anyway.

I am horrified at the reviews I have read about this product. I was advised to purchase it since I am on a limited income and I used a tube on my cat (1 year old) and one on my older cat (9 years old). I applied the medicine on Friday night and put them in the large bathroom so I could treat the rest of the house. They both got a little sick, but when I let them out, they seem fine. They are running around and playing and eating as normal and I can't locate a single flea. So for my money, I would say the product worked. My older cat is still scratching, but I can't find any fleas, so the vet said she may have some residual reaction from the bites and they may just be itching. Today is Monday and my son said she is not scratching as much as Saturday and Sunday, so she appears fine. I will be watching her as I cannot discount the previous reviews about what happened to the other pets that were treated with this product.

I did some research and found that many cats have died because of this. I washed her immediately. She is eating a little, but she is still hot to the touch. I'm so mad that PetSmart is selling such bad and dangerous products for our dogs, especially for owners like me who do not research products that I believe are safe because PetSmart has them on their shelves. I gave my dog a flea and tick treatment. I never had any problem with Frontline. Soon after the application, my dog started to shake, itch all over his body and had difficulty breathing. It was scary. Of course, that happens during the evening when my vet is no longer reachable.

So I decided to monitor him until the next morning. What a bad reaction... I did give him a bath with dish soap, which helped a little. He has not been feeling well for the past three days but is improving a little. Now, he has a big brown spot on his back where the product was applied and still is very uncomfortable and itchy. I thought saving a little money by buying this cheaper product... NEVER AGAIN! I will pay more to save my dog and myself a lot of trouble. PETSMART, TAKE THIS PRODUCT OFF YOUR SHELVES PLEASE.

I can't believe that a product that can kill your beloved pet through its regular use is sold so readily, especially by trusted stores such as PetSmart! These people need to be sued. This past Saturday evening, I applied Sergeant's Sentry Purrscriptions Flea & Tick medicine to my 12-yr-old cat as instructed. A few hours later, I noticed that he did not come down for dinner. I found him in a crouching position, breathing very heavily and with widely dilated pupils. I used a wet washcloth to remove the medicine from his neck area and tried to give him water, which he would not take. When I was doing this, he was not reacting or responding to me calling his name and trying to catch his attention. His pupils were so wide and he looked like he was in shock.

When I was using the washcloth on him, he all of a sudden urinated himself right where he was. He never does this! I observed him for a while, and when he continued to have difficulty breathing, I gave him a bath with dish washing liquid to completely remove what was left of the medicine. It was late by this point so I stayed up with him all night, which was a difficult one for us both. I rushed to the vet's as soon as they were able to see us and $620 later for shots and pills, my poor cat is at home, only able to drink water and eat as of today (Tuesday).

I am furious that this company acts with such disregard for beloved pets' well-being. Please never buy any of these crap products for your pets. The vet told me that they only trust brands like Frontline and that they see pets come in frequently (1-2 per week) for toxic reactions to these cheaper brands. This stuff is pure poison.

I bought Sentry as a good alternative to chemical-based flea and tick control for 2-year-old male cat. I figured if these big chain stores sold this product, they would have done their research before carrying a death sentence in a box! I applied the solution as directed onto my cat; immediately he foamed at the mouth. He eventually stopped as my concern was growing. However he began to walk weird, lifting his paws almost like a clown on stilts. The solution was starting to spread further down his fur making it easier for him to lick at. After witnessing all this (about a one-hour period), I got on Google and researched the product and reviews. One review after another... my cat died using this product. My heart sank!

I quickly grabbed him and did my best (alone) to wash it off him. I couldn't get it all off. Long story short, my sister rushed over to my house as we bathed him several times with Dawn dish soap (recommended by the emergency vet center I called). He was so terrified! We finally got it all off him but I stayed up all night with him to observe his behavior. He was shivering and traumatized. In the morning, he came around to his normal social, playful self. I pray he stays like this.

It's been two days so far but I'm still concerned. The amount of reviews with this product causing deaths (mostly cats) just blows my mind. This company is still in business or allowed to sell this killer of a product. I guess an animal's life doesn't share the same value. Personally my sweet boy is like my child. It wouldn't take many deaths of a human to have a company exposed and shut down. We need to make a stand against this company and stop the deaths of our pets/family! I hope this post saves someone's animal. I know for certain other's posts saved my Logan James. I acted fast and trusted my gut.

This product should not be on the market. It made all three of my pets sick. Sentry made all three of my cats sick and sent one to the vet (where she still is currently). I applied it to all three of them on Saturday night. The fleas where we live have apparently developed an immunity to Frontline, and it no longer kills them all completely. We decided to try Sentry than the more expensive Frontline for the 5th month in a row. I noticed one of the male cats acting odd when I went to bed on Saturday night, but thought that he was just irritated about having the Sentry on his back.

I went to bed, and when I woke up Sunday morning, the cat who had been acting oddly the night before could barely walk and was hiding under the bed. Only the female cat ate breakfast, and the the other male cat would take food in his mouth, but would spit it out again immediately. I read the box and it said that if the cats showed signs of "sensitivity" that you should wash them off using mild soap and lots of water.

I did that and, thankfully, the male cat who was the worst improved within a few hours as did the male cat. The female cat completely stopped eating however, and became incredibly lethargic. After 24 hours of her not eating, we took her to the vet where she is currently. She still is not eating or drinking, and is on an IV drip. Having had the Sentry on her is killing her. She will die if she does not start eating again. It should also be noted that Sentry did not seem to kill any of the fleas.

Aside from that, I am a little startled to find that the product was available for me to purchase at all. The customer complaints of pets dying, getting sick and this product not working go back four years and still this product remains on store shelves. The odor was so strong it gave me a headache, nausea and sinus problems within the 1st hour. If I were feeling like this, God knows how my dogs were feeling, considering their noses are a lot more sensitive. I left it on overnight. The next day, one of my dogs was very sensitive to my touch on the back, so I washed both of them thoroughly. I could still smell it, so I didn't apply anything else on them. Then my other dog started scratching (both of them really but one much more than the other) and hasn't stopped since then (22 days ago). I've bathed him quite a bit to get that smell off but to no avail.

Twenty two days later, it's still there - not as strong but there. He's been itching so bad, he has blisters and is exhausted from not sleeping. The upside, I guess, is that there are no fleas and ticks. I bought this product at a natural pet store. One of the employees recommended this product, said she uses it on her pet and it worked. I purchased your product to save a little money. I have in the past been a committed Frontline user. Times are tough financially so I unfortunately decided to save some money and go with your product (Sentry). I applied the proper dosage to all my Chihuahuas, ranging from 3 1/2lbs to 11lbs. Within a day, Jax, my 11-lb boy started chewing himself until he had raw and bleeding spots all over his back side. By the next day, I noticed his lips were raw and swollen, and in the night, he had scratched his right eye until it was raw and swollen. I started giving him Benadryl and things, he slowly stopped the all consuming scratching and biting. I took him to the pet supply store where I purchased your product and upon looking at him and me explaining what was happening, they immediately exchanged the unused portion for what I should have originally bought, which was Frontline.

Now onto my 3 1/2-lb girl Bean. While this was going on with Jax, I noticed a small raw spot on the side of Bean's mouth. Now she does not have very much hair so she can cause scratches easily. Anyway, within a couple of days, my poor girl had completely scratched up whatever part of her body she could reach, so I started her on the Benadryl. I gave that one full day hoping it would alleviate the irritation like it had in Jax. Bean unfortunately was not that lucky. By that night, her eyes were so swollen she could not open them. In a panic, I called my vet but their clinic was closed for the night. Fortunately, a vet tech was still in doing last minute paperwork so she was able to give some advice. She told me to immediately wash Bean in Dawn and keep up the Benadryl.

By the next morning, poor Bean was a pathetic mess so I called my vet as soon as they opened to get her in. The diagnosis is that she had a toxic reaction that had internalized, most likely because of her very small size. Her eyeballs have fluid in them and she has a hole in one eye and a good sized lesion on the other. By the time the vet exam was all said and done, Bean was prescribed an immediate injection of antibiotics for all the open sores on her body, a steroid to help with her eyes, a cream for her eyes and of course, pain medicine to make her more comfortable, totaling $274.00. And the vet can't say if the fluid on her eyes will ever totally go away and her eyes will most likely be permanently damaged!

So by trying to save a few bucks and by trusting your product, I caused my beloved babies pain and suffering and cost myself money I couldn't afford. By the way, out of all 5 dogs, only one did not have a reaction. The others just weren't as severe as Jax and Bean, and all my dogs still have fleas! Your product sucks and is absolutely unsafe for animals. Shame on you for keeping it on the market! I would appreciate compensation for my out of pocket expenses due to your careless representation.

I recently had two of my family pet cats die from Sergeants Sentry Purrscriptions Plus flea treatment for cats. They were both poisoned by the product, in which I followed all of the directions. The product killed our family pets and I reported it to Tractor Supply where I purchased the products and to Sergeants. Both told me that if I had the original purchase receipt, they would consider reimbursing me for the product. Both were not interested in the loss of the animals. There is no recourse for the consumer who is basically their test facility and R&D department for these pet products. They sell the product, which is basically not regulated because it is for animals and not humans (the FDA told me they were not interested either) and to contact the EPA because it is a pesticide.

The EPA keeps stats about cases where the animal dies or is harmed so they can go back to the manufacturer and have them change the formulas, but in no way supports the loss of the animals. I've called the PA Dept of Agriculture, who basically also just wants stats on what pesticides are harmful to the animals. But this is all done after the fact if an animal is harmed or killed by the product. Look at the labeling on these things - it is not even appropriately labeled for children poisoning, yet no one will do anything about it because it's basically the EPA's problem, who is flooded with other matters and is only for animals and therefore not regulated. The consumer, you and me, are killing our own animals in the process to do the testing on this stuff because the manufacturers do not want the blame for animal testing, so that the OEM and the EPA can keep stats on what is effective and what is not.

Frontline, Hartz, etc. have all changed their formulas because of these catastrophic results. Even the vet associations do not care. They make money off of animals being poisoned. ASPCA, SPCA, Animal Planet, Animal Radio, etc. all know that these products are harmful yet nothing is really being done about it, except to tell people over the radio, etc. to consult a veterinarian first before using these products. No one will give you any info about it or regulatory info. Sergeants will not talk about it nor the EPA. Everyone I talked to said these companies are too large to do anything to them. Sergeants sent me a sympathy card for killing my two cats. I wonder if the Son of Sam or John Wayne Gacy sent out sympathy cards to their victims' families after they murdered people. It's a nice way of saying "I murdered your family members. Oh, I'm sorry." This stuff could also be fatal to children and there is really no product packaging or control to that effect.

I need some legislative help. I have one of the cats frozen at the vets waiting for a toxicology test. The problem is they want about $400.00 or up to do it. I don't have those kinds of funds, but a good vet, lawyer, etc. can get involved and find out what's going on with this stuff. I have contacted PetMeds, and they refunded my money on the two packs I just purchased for the dogs! I will return to using the Frontline and the Advantage ASAP. Sentry Home and Carpet Spray/Shampoo - I went out of town for Easter and had to put my dog outside for 4 days. When I came home and brought him in, he was covered in fleas, and my house became contaminated. I went to the store and bought Sentry Shampoo and a competitor's carpet and upholstery spray. I used the spray, and it did wonders. I could see the fleas instantly dying on the carpet and entryway as I sprayed. I then bathed my dog with the Sentry shampoo. Not one flea died on him. I went back to the store and bought another bottle of carpet spray, but this time, bought the Sentry one because it was $1 cheaper and I figured the other one worked so well, might as well save a penny. Wrong! Like the shampoo, it didn't do a ** thing.

I'm typing right now in an area that I doused with the stuff, and fleas are still jumping on me. What a rip off. If I could only pay $1 more in hindsight. I think I used Sentry's carpet powder too, and it didn't help at all either. Sentry needs to take a long walk off a short pier as far as I'm concerned. I dropped about $45 on their products and all of that didn't do as good as the one $15 bottle of the competitor (wish I remembered which one it was, but I know I will never buy Sentry again). I work out of home, so I just have to deal with it today. I have a tee time tomorrow morning, and I have already bought foggers for the entire house to bomb it while away. ** Sentry!

I looked into ingredients which is over 90% Diethylene Glycol Monoethyl Ether and turns out according to EPA website when it was registered, no further studies were done because of the unlikely humans would come in contact and it was used as an additive to jet fuels and as a deicer.

MSDS sheets state it's highly flammable. It may cause respiratory tract irritation, skin irritation and digestive tract irritation. It may cause kidney damage and adverse reproductive and fetal effects in animals and prolonged use may cause target organ damage, vomiting and diarrhea. It must be used in well ventilated room. It's on a pets back? Sentry denies any other complaints and state it's used in hand creams which I found it's a poly type of Ether used in hand creams which is deemed safe. This is not the same used in Sentry Fiproguard. MSDS for ethyl ether is mutagenic for mammalian somatic cells. The product it seems is bad and it doesn't work anyway. I applied Sentry PurrScriptions Plus as per the directions on the box to my 9-year-old male cat Cosmo at 10am today. Immediately, he did not like it on his neck, constantly trying to lick at it. About an hour later, he was acting very grumpy, I assumed because he didn't like that I put a foreign substance on him. I checked the application site, and there wasn't any redness or indication of irritation.

Around 11am, he was acting lethargic, but he seemed normal otherwise. By 12pm, he was walking around, shaking his back paws as if something was stuck on them. When I went to pick him up to look at his paws, he hissed at me but didn't fight me. At that point, I thought he was still grumpy about the stuff on his neck and didn't think anything else was wrong.

I went out for a few hours and returned home, and he was spacey and disoriented. His eyes were dilated, he was still lethargic and shaking his paws, and he was breathing heavier than usual. After a few more hours of no improvement, I got online to do some research on this product and came across a host of similar complaints.

I contacted the phone number on the box. They referred me to their medical hotline, took the information down from on the box, and just told me to wash him in dishwashing soap and call a vet if he doesn't get better. I made sure to get my case number and the number to their corporate HQ in case I do have to take him to the vet. I'm praying I don't have to, and I wish to God I had done research on this product before applying it to my poor cat. Beware of this product. We rinsed it with temperate water for several minutes, and she continued to scratch, and act as if she was being tortured for days.

The spot spread to about 4" x 2" down her tiny back, all red and raw, with no fur. It took over 2 months for the fur to grow back, but not without a lot of care. It caused his skin to flake and a lot of the hair to pull out very easily. I didn't use it very much, but only applied it to his neck, as the flea bath the week before seemed to work for the rest of the body (of course I didn't want to wash their face with it, so the fleas seem to flock there). He had the most fleas and I barely used it on the others who seem to be fine. After seeing the effectiveness of this product versus the potential risk, it definitely isn't worth buying. I've had my cat since 4 weeks ago, who was 13 years old and in a pretty decent condition. He just had a physical exam a few months ago and the doctor said he was in good condition considering his age. Our three cats had a minor flea problem. They are inside cats, they had not had fleas since they were tiny. They did have flea collars, but they had expired without us knowing. We called PetSmart to see what else we could do aside from cat collars to deal with the problem. PetSmart told us to bathe them and de-flea them. We had de-flead a homeless cat before with Frontline. We went to the store to look for Frontline, had none, so they said the other stuff would be fine. So we picked up the Sentry Purrscription Flea for Cats and Kittens. We came home and applied it to our three cats, who are 13, 7 and 4. These are well-cared cats, who regularly get their immunizations, and who are all neutered and spayed. We applied it to the 13-year old first and decided to watch him closely because he was older, and it said on the box that older cats can sometimes have a slight adverse reaction.

Several hours later, my oldest cat Buttons started having difficulty breathing. As per the boxed instructions, we gave him a warm bath with baby shampoo and then kept an eye on him. It seemed he was getting better but then as the evening progressed, he started panting, foaming at the mouth and crying. We then looked up a 24-hour vet clinic whom when we told them what we had used, they said it was poison and to bring him in immediately. So we did so. But when we got there, despite lifesaving attempts by veterinary staff, Buttons died. Due to taking this medication, our oldest cat, who we have had for thirteen years, was dead.

After we came home, our seven-year old cat Scruffy was drooling, so we called the place and they told us to bring both other cats in. We brought them there, they were bathed extensively and the whole ordeal cost close to $800. Additionally today, our other two cats aren't quite right. Our four-year Creamy is usually very active and playful, chasing shadows, chasing our other cat. She likes to jump around, run after balls and sit in the window. She is very feisty and playful. Today, she has been lethargic all day. She has eaten much less than usual, her eyes are irritated and she is skittish, wanting to hide in odd places in the house. She has done almost nothing but sleep all day. Our older cat Scruffy, who is 7, has also been much less active than usual. She is very tiny, so we are especially concerned that a drug could have an effect on her because she is so small. She usually comes downstairs, begging for tuna, party mix and other snacks, and drinking her beloved water fountain. But today, she's barely left upstairs.

We are devastated at the loss of Buttons. He was the sweetest and happiest cat. He loved to eat. I feel like a part of me is gone, I haven't stopped crying. And on top of our grief, we have to be worried and vigilant about our other two cats because of them being poisoned by this product. We also feel betrayed by PetSmart, we have shopped there for years, and for them to peddle toxic poison (and their claims they were unaware are spurious considering the 100's of upset pet owners we have seen on this website and others). To add insult to injury, my husband, who is a government employee and is a Chief in the US Navy Reserves, had to cancel his business trip to Memphis, TN which he was looking forward to due to this. My oldest daughter had to call out from work despite having recently called out due to prolonged illness.

Buttons had been on medication before throughout the years, but he had survived it all, until he encountered this toxic product. Our three cats were originally homeless and we have helped over 50 homeless cats over the years. We don't get anything free and we would give anything to have our Buttons back, but at the very least, we don't want this to happen to anyone else. In addition, we are frightened for the lives of our other two cats, all because PetSmart has chosen to carry a product that has been shown to cause serious and often deadly complications in dogs and cats, and sometimes even humans.

I had decided to use this product on my Bengal cat after he had minor reactions to chemical-based flea medications. That night, he started acting very strange, freaking out at nothing and running around. I didn't think about the flea meds, since it was also the 4th of July and I figured he was freaking out at all the loud noises.

The next morning, he was discovered in full body seizures/spasms, unresponsive and unable to move at all. We rushed him to the emergency vet and waited there for several hours while they gave him relaxers and fluids through IV. We then transferred him to our regular vet where he spent the next 24 hours.

Both vets said what he had was typically of a toxic reaction, but both had called the hotline on the flea medication only to be told that "they had never heard of any kind of reaction." My vets seemed to think the product would be safe, but I just wasn't sure. Since the Bengal was also found to have a high white cell count, I thought maybe it was a combination of the two.

So, this month I decided to use the remaining product on my other cat, since it was supposedly "safe." I checked on her a couple of hours later and she was freaking out so I immediately gave her a bath in dawn. I am now awake in the middle of the night, worried that she may have a similar reaction (I did NOT use this on my Bengal again, I simply wasn't going to chance that, but he's been sensitive to other flea meds as well, so I was stupid enough to think it was just him).

I still don't know if my other cat will be okay or not...that remains to be seen.

Within minutes she was acting very strangely, spacey, hissing at toys, afraid of us. For a cat that is usually all over you for attention, being scared and jumpy with us is a sure sign something was wrong.

She became twitchy, her tail and ears seemed to be having muscle spasms so we started to worry about seizures. We did an internet search for the product and found this website as well as NUMEROUS other sites with horror stories about brain/neurological damage and skin burns.
