AKC Pet Insurance Reviews

I bought an illness insurance from AKC and they have paid the amounts that they agreed to pay. They do what the agreement is. It has been a fine experience and we've renewed with them quite a few years in a row. I would recommend them.

I have been a policyholder with AKC Pet Insurance since September. I got AKC because it seemed like a good policy. I am getting ready to submit a claim with AKC and would recommend them.

We've had the AKC pet insurance for years. A couple of years ago we had a pet that had brain cancer and they did all kinds of tests. I was wishing we had more than the 3,000 because it cost us roughly 8,000 by the time we got through. Now we've just taken one insurance off and added one. We had a dog died on the 1st of September and then we got a puppy two weeks ago. There was just too much paper going back and forth. We had the dog put down on the 1st of September and it was a dual policy with two dogs on. So I had to take the dog that died off and then they sent me an updated policy. Now we put the new dog, so they sent me a new policy on that - with a single dog on.

We have AKC pet insurance for six months now. And so far, our experience with them was fine. When we submitted a claim, they were very responsive and we got a check for part of a payment. It didn't take an overly long period of time to resolve the issue.

We needed to get a pet insurance for our little dog because when we got her, she'd get her little paw into the dishwasher and was constantly getting in front of our feet until we were accidentally kicking her. We got AKC and have been with them for over a year now. We've never had to file a claim (thank goodness) but their representatives are very friendly over the phone when I call with a question. We just renewed our policy with them.

I've been with AKC for six months now and all my three pure-bred Siberian huskies have AKC papers. So far, I love AKC because they're very helpful with the vet bills. Without them, my bills would be through the ceiling. They're important and they save me a lot of money. On the whole, I've no complaints about them.

There were some years the AKC Pet Insurance cost as much as the medical bills would've cost, but it was never less than a break even deal. I had a couple of reservations with some decisions they made, but most recently, my experience with it went very well.

My experience with AKC has been good so far although I did have a little bit of trouble with my earlier claim with them - the fax didn't go through. But after that, whenever we tried to fax a claim, it would go through and they would pay up quickly which is wonderful. If it weren’t for my pet insurance, I don’t know what I would’ve done because I really couldn’t afford the extra income that it would have taken. That's why it is a very good thing to have AKC. All in all, I'd recommend them.

Having pet insurance is important to me because until my French Bulldog's about two years old, I won’t know if she needs to have any of the very expensive surgeries due to her nose, palate, etc. I chose AKC Pet Insurance for their price. I've been a policyholder for five months now, and the only problem I’ve had was that since they upgraded their computer system, I kept getting the same email saying that my policy was about to expire if I didn't sign up. But I kept getting the same customer service rep and they took care of me each time. He recognized my voice by the end of the fourth time I called. He said it was a third party provider, so I easily believe that and I haven't had to use the insurance.

When I got my rottie's papers and registered through AKC, they had everything on the website about the insurance. Since it was provided through their foundation, I figured I could get from them. We never really had to use it yet, but it’s been there in case my rottie needs something. It's very good to have a backup plan, especially for having a dog that is prone for hip dysplasia and other ailments.

I have been with AKC since 2006 when I got my first dog and I'm still with them now with my third puppy. They are registered show dogs. Once you register the dog with AKC, they offer you the insurance, which is very valuable for pets to have. I mainly needed AKC on one of three dogs and it has helped a lot.

The last time I took my dog to the vet for his annual last summer, I got a $400 bill, hence I decided to look for pet insurance. I decided on AKC Pet Insurance since all others say that they won't insure a dog that's more than a year old, but age didn't matter to AKC. I've had the policy for six months and recently, my dog just had his annual physical test and shot. I got in touch with AKC as I had a few questions regarding the reimbursement process and other matters, and their representative was very helpful and clear in the explanation. Pet insurance is about as valuable as having insurance on yourself. It's been a great experience with AKC and I've already recommended them to several people.

I registered my dog's paperwork through AKC and have been a policyholder for over a year now. Having a pet insurance is worth it - stuff cost money. So far AKC has been good and easy to deal with.

We signed up our two beautiful boys with AKC because we want to make sure that they're taken care of if anything happens. We've used the insurance when we thought one of them had a little air blockage and we had to do x-rays. It’s very invaluable and I recommend them.

We love AKC. I'm not crazy about the new policy changes, but that's progress. Overall, it's been a very good experience.

We got a new puppy in January and my husband thought it was a good idea to get pet insurance so we pursued it and thought before we got her spayed it would help defer some of that cost, as well, and not knowing what to expect with a new puppy. I called them today to check on the status of the claim. Last month our dog was diagnosed with an incurable condition and unfortunately, they've come back and denied all of it because they say that it's a congenital condition.

We got AKC 8 years ago and everything I've ever experienced with them has been incredibly positive. I think if someone can afford pet insurance, they should have it, and I think AKC is one of the better ones. In fact, I have recommended it over and over again. However, AKC should educate the veterinarians about them because they're the ones people like me go to if we have questions on which pet insurance companies they like working with, and the people at the vets' offices know nothing.

I originally bought an InheritedPlus/Accident Plus policy and ExamCare policy for our one-year old black cat, Shadow, just in case she had something when she saw her vet in June. Fast forward to the last week in July of this year, I find a white kitten with grey ears and grey tail, earned the name Spot. Got him set up on the same policies as Shadow. I also added the DefenderPlus because of finding Spot with an unknown history to us. That will reimburse us for his yearly physicals, shots, neuter, chip, and deworming/flea and tick. I def. recommend this insurance!

I have a good experience with AKC. The only thing I have issues with is I don't know exactly what to send to get a refund. I usually can't find what I'm supposed to have and then months later, I find it. Of all the money that's going out, AKC Insurance is the best thing a pet owner can have.

Overall, I had an excellent experience with AKC Pet Insurance. It’s timely in responding, and every time I had to call Customer Service, they were all easy to deal with.

I went online, did some research on pet insurance and AKC is very well-known. I said, "Well, let me take a chance!" And I did! Been a policyholder for a month. When I first got the insurance, I called up and everything was explained to me in detail. I signed up for wellness, accidents and paid $52 a month. Took my new rescue dog to my vet and they checked him out. And I got a check in the mail for $50 which is what the vet charged me.

I heard about AKC Pet Insurance through the breeder from whom I purchased my dog. It was part of the information pack so I went online and bought them. I have been a policyholder with the AKC for 4 months and it's been good and very valuable. So far, I have made 1 call and it's been fine.

I've been a policyholder of AKC Pet Insurance for eight years now and we recently had a very ill dog that we eventually lost. We had to do quite a bit of medical treatments and operations so we submitted claims with AKC. They were very good about paying for it so it was such a relief. Having the pet insurance is absolutely essential especially now that vets know so much more about animals and can take better care of them. It's a lot more expensive but that's because they know more and there are more avenues to help the animals. The downside of that is most of these avenues are very expensive, especially when you get the pets into animal hospitals.

Having AKC for our English Bulldog is a worthwhile investment. We've had multiple surgeries and it's just what I've set for. Submitting a claim with AKC was great. They improved and they've retooled their system a little bit so the length of time to get reimbursed was three to four weeks--which was nice when you have a surgery which can be $1,400 and up. Another great thing about AKC is that the premiums increase as the dogs age, unlike some pet insurance that the premiums stay the same for the whole entirety.

I put in a claim and got denied, so I'll never buy AKC Pet Insurance again.

So far my experience with AKC has been great. I've been a policyholder with AKC for almost two months now and having it is extremely valuable because I'd never know what could happen. Recently, I took my puppy to the vet, and then I submitted the claim form. I just got the check in the mail today from the pet insurance for most of what the bill was.

We've had insurance with couple different pet care providers but we consolidated everything with AKC. We've had it for at least two years now and so far customer service has been fantastic. Buying pet insurance is well worth it especially if you have working dogs where the risk of injury is higher.

The breeder recommended AKC to us when we got our dog back in 2004. We've had several claims and AKC had been pretty great. I understand it's similar to human insurance in turnaround time for the most part. I takes a while to get the reimbursement but that's fine because when my dog was sick with cancer last year, AKC sent a couple of get well cards which I thought was very sweet. Aside from that, everybody is always friendly - it feels a little personal. I would never have another pet without insurance and I would go with AKC again.

I've had the AKC Pet Insurance for about three years now. Filing a claim with them has been good and prompt. I crunch some numbers and I had some problems buying what I was paying monthly premiums for. And I was in the red on the plan looking at it cause I had to have an annual physical exam. I had that in my old plan and they paid for annual cleaning. But after all the deductibles I ended up in the hole every year and I was paying a lot of money. So I figured out over a lifetime of let's say 15 years, I'm paying $7,000.00 into the plan. It's better for me to be self-insured for those maintenance things. What I did is I changed the plan down to 25 bucks a month, which is more affordable to me and it's for emergency things. The dog I have is a Pekingese. She's not outside and when she is she's on a leash and was never around cars or kids. When she gets older, she might have problems which is why I kept the $25.00 insurance.

We first heard about AKC Pet Insurance through our vet, so we decided to go with it. It is very valuable to have pet insurance and we have learned the hard way.

I was comparing pet insurance companies online and I ran across AKC Pet Insurance. They have specific separate plans that I liked that's why I went to them. I have an English bulldog. Their breed has a lot of health problems and so I want to make sure I had the best possible coverage for him. Since June 5 I already have two processing claims and I'm having the third one on July 1st to get his last vaccination. It's gonna take 30 days before I get reimbursed.

In January, I took my dogs in for their annual physical examination and AKC was very helpful, covering expenses and prescriptions, so I'm happy with it. If I called to get information, they were happy to give me whatever I needed to know. Their coverage is great, at a reasonable price.

I'm relatively new to the AKC family, I've been with them only since March. I have a Frenchie and they are not the healthiest as far as dogs are concerned. But so far, I've only made one claim with AKC and they paid it. Thus, as of this moment, I have no problems with them.

When my bank had given me a new ATM/debit card, I made the payment but it went paid to the wrong place and the lady from AKC called me to inform me of my non-payment. I eventually realized the error, but the lady didn't treat me like I was stupid or that I had forgotten to pay. She was really, really nice and I did appreciate that. I haven't used the insurance yet but I'm sure it will be very, very valuable.

I have really nothing but good word to put out about AKC Pet Insurance. They were very good and accurate on the coverage - no hidden specifics. When I purchased my puppy from Pet Land, they had a promotion where they gave a complimentary 90 days or something. It seemed pretty reasonable at the time and I wanted to continue the coverage. Actually I was kinda looking for something for emergencies or something where I wouldn't have to put up any upfront money, just like with cars. It's my first time insuring a dog and AKC did everything pretty good. The only thing would be the reimbursement time seems to be kind of late. It takes a little lengthy time to process but I am not complaining.

It's been pretty good overall with AKC. However, the insurance goes up every year which makes it more expensive, but I still pay for it for my pet.

I purchased an AKC registered French bulldog and the insurance came complimentary for the first 90 days. An insurance policy with him is pretty important. Since then, I've been a policy holder for four years already and it's been a good experience all around.

When I bought my two English bulldogs, I registered them with AKC. I had 60 days free trial of the Insurance to begin with and I could continue as a paid plan. Initially, I looked on the internet and compared prices and reviews, and AKC seemed to be the best for what I needed given the cost. I recently submitted claims and the process was fairly simple. It took a little while for me to file them due to the three steps on the coverage. I had to get receipts signed by the vet and get stuff together and sent it all in. I only have one explanation of benefits and gotten it back on one of the claims. They're trying to sort them out between what's covered and what's not covered and the dates that each coverage began for the two dogs, so it's just taking a long time to get it done. I'm glad I've got pet insurance because one of my bulldogs has a potential knee problem that's going to require surgery and that's expensive so I think that's when my insurance is going to kick in and be more beneficial.

The very high cost of dog treatments if they need operations or they get injured made me decide to get a pet insurance. AKC was recommended so I went with it and so far they've been great. We haven't had any major thing to come up with the dog that cost us to have regretted not getting it but I know that when it's needed I'm going to be very grateful that I got it and even more grateful that I got it through AKC.

We bought a full-blood dog which we got AKC-registered. I've never had pet insurance on a pet before. However, it came in handy eventually because our dog was in an accident and she had to have a hip surgery. Recommended.

The experience with AKC was really favorable and excellent - I had no problem at all.

Having pet insurance was really helpful especially this time because we had quite a bit of expense with my last doberman due to his failing kidneys. Also, he had to have surgery on a hind leg and it took two surgeries and eight weeks. And he couldn't walk, run, or jump. He was still just eight months old at the time. The AKC insurance paid the maximum that was on that policy. It was a good thing that time. I probably will keep it for our dogs as long as I can afford it.

We had a dog that got sick and died. After that we've learned that we should have had insurance so we got AKC. Having a pet insurance really helps but my problem with AKC is they take so long to send us the money when we submit a claim.

AKC gave me a trial period when I registered my dog. After that, I just went ahead with them - I've been a policyholder since January. For a purebred puppy, I think having pet insurance is pretty valuable since they tend to get into a lot of things. The whole process is really easy. For the claim I've had, I just submitted the bills to them and they paid it. It’s been good. I've had no problems.

We purchased our puppy from AKC. We've had our first schnauzer from them since 1992 and other AKC puppies before that. The vet that we had directed us towards Trupanion for one kind of service and AKC provides the complimentary service that we wanted. I've had a great experience with AKC Pet Insurance so far. I've been a policyholder ever since my dog was two months old, and she's now two and a half years. When my dog was a pup, she was registered as a pure-bred, and that's when they gave me a trial policy. The trial policy started then and it covered about two months. On the last part of the trial policy, when my dog was three or four months old, she broke her tibia. I was able to put a claim through with that trial policy. AKC covered $1,000.00, half of the expense. They said if it was a small claim, they would cover more. That's the time they handled the policy.

AKC is great! When I bought my puppy from a pet store, some of the paperwork that came with it lets you enroll into AKC so I got the insurance through that. The first month was free, then the next month they started charging my account. I took it because I want to be prepared if anything ever were to happen to my puppy, but so far nothing bad has happened. He's been healthy. My concern was if he ever swallowed something he's not supposed to have, it won't have to be pretty expensive because of the policy. I'd recommend them because of their friendly customer service. AKC is helpful and eager to satisfy my experience.

When I registered my dog in AKC, they gave me a free trial period. It actually worked out really well because when my dog have hurt herself in my backyard and we had to take her to the vet, I incurred some serious pet bills and medications which they reimbursed me for. It was just up to a certain amount but that was because I was just on a trial period. I filed the paperwork and they honored the claim. So, I'm thrilled with what they gave me.

I've been with AKC most of my life. It's a good thing to have if you can afford it. But I only have the temporary free insurance for a certain amount of time. It's only for major things though, not for common things that you use all the time.

I got hold of an AKC pet insurance policy two months ago. I called them to try and get more information on the insurance we had and other choices available and they were very helpful. We haven't used it at all but I think in the future it will be very valuable

Before, one of our dogs ended up with bloat. That was a $3000 emergency vet bill just for the surgery. So after that, my wife and I thought it would be nice to have something in case something like that happens again and you got to rush them in and get them taken care of. We talked to our vet about the different types of insurance plans that were out there and she recommended a couple of them and one of them was AKC. We did a little bit of research on our own and decided to go with AKC. We had dogs for pretty much all of our lives and we know it's a reputable organization so we just used that as part of the deciding factor along with the plan, the rates and some other stuff. We've been with them for around eight years.

After I bought my dog, I heard that bulldogs have a lot of health issues later on so I went to have a pet insurance with AKC. I've been with them for about three months and it's been good so far. It's a priority - a peace of mind.

I never really filed with AKC... just the 30-day trial. Because they don't cover breeding pets and I'm a breeder, it doesn't make sense to have insurance that's not going to cover an emergency Caesarian section, which I've had three this year. One was covered under her 30 days at that time, but they won't cover her for her emergency C-section.

I first learned about AKC from the lady that I bought my first male Pomeranian off of. When I registered my male, she showed the insurance, which was provided by AKC. Now, I have my male and my female both covered by them for almost two years. I had another Pomeranian before I got these other two, I had him for 17 years. He had a cancerous tumor at the age of 16 and it cost me about $10,000 on x-rays, seizure medicines and stuff like that. It was a pretty big expense within six months and emotionally, it about tore me up. That’s why I bought insurance for these two, and I have had no problems. I’m actually very pleased with them. I go into their annual visits and I just scan my receipts to AKC and usually, I have no problems with them. They are very personal and friendly, any questions I had, they explained it very well. Highly recommended.

I took AKC when it was offered to me when I adopted my dog about 5 years ago. Unfortunately, my dog recently had a joint disease and received many treatments at Angel Memorial Hospital. A good portion of the procedures was covered, so I was satisfied even though I did hit the $1,500 ceiling. I think AKC has been terrific and I've actually been telling other pet owners how valuable having pet insurance is.

I heard about AKC Pet Insurance from my breeders. It came sort of standard with the dog. I've been an AKC policyholder for about a year now. I wasn't completely satisfied for what I was paying a premium every month for. Every time I took my dog to the vet, which wasn't very often, very rarely was anything covered. It was either an issue with it being in a specific time frame that the care was given while the policy was going, or this wasn't covered by the policy. But I never once received a book specifying what is and what's not covered.

The person I spoke to was very helpful and we got a good policy set up. All my questions were answered completely, and suggestions were made that helped me out in making my decision. And so, it was a very good experience.

I've been a policy-holder with AKC Pet Insurance for six years. I have a big dog and got this insurance for anything catastrophic, if something happened to him. My experience so far has been good because I've got my dog on medicines and I get that reimbursed.

It's been 9 years since we've been an AKC policyholder, and we are using it for the same reason that people need health insurance: because it can get very expensive if you don't have insurance to help you. The insurance doesn't cover as much as we would like it to, but it covers something and I think it was the best we could get. It covered what we were prepared to pay.

The peace of mind you get from having a pet insurance is very valuable. I have been with AKC Pet Insurance for almost 3 years now, and everybody that I've talked to and dealt with were very friendly, courteous, kind, and nice. And they paid what and when they said they would pay. I hope that they keep doing it that way, but I hope I won’t have any more problems with my dog. I have recommended AKC.

We have an English bulldog and they’re known for having health issues. Our friends that have bulldogs recommended getting pet insurance. I started with the 60-Day trial period with AKC and it was a good deal so I signed up for the full program after that. Our dog ate a few items that ended up blocking her stomach and her intestines so we had to have surgery. We were able to submit that claim and AKC paid for it. It’s been very positive and they are very trustworthy. We’ve told our friends and family about our experience and we're going to renew the policy when it comes due.

AKC pays right away! As it happens, my dog is very sick and AKC have been very compassionate in calling. Definitely recommended!

I registered our 4-month-old puppy with AKC. AKC is a large company and they are reputable, so I went and took out their trial insurance and I've had their insurance since then--almost 10 years now. I took the pet insurance so that in case my dachshund hurts her back, I would have coverage for it. I would recommend them and would continue with the insurance. I'm happy with the excellent customer service, especially from Chris. Our little dog is 10 years and it was a pleasant experience with AKC. The insurance wasn't something that I had to keep harassing them for. We even got a card from AKC to see how our dog was, and that’s a very personal thing. I even got an email from somebody there to see how she was so I like the personal touch, too. The whole experience was great.

AKC came with the papers with my puppy. I also had it for my last dog so overall I've been a policy holder for about nine years now--eight years for my first dog and one year for my puppy. The breeder suggested that a pet insurance is a good thing to have and it proved to be valuable because when I had an accident here with my puppy, the insurance company did quite decent with me. So I have no problem recommending AKC to others.

AKC Pet Insurance has been wonderful--they really have. The dog has had issues and they had always paid. I never had to wait a long time so it's just been great.

Our pet had a rough year last year - he has a cruciate ligament replaced and another one was torn as another dog attacked him. With a lot of medical bills, it was very helpful to have the insurance and it helped defray the cost associated with it. We’ve had good 11 years experience with AKC Pet Insurance and having one has been invaluable. I could sum it up in three words: competent, timely, and caring.

I have been a policy holder of AKC for about eight, nine years and it's not been great. AKC paid for a lot of routine care and that was great, no problems. My service and the calls that I took were fine, not an issue. My issue here is very simple: It’s only a very good policy if the dog doesn’t get sick and it’s routine care. The first time I had serious illness with the dog, I found out they have a policy that there’s only a $5,000 limit. As a consumer, I thought that the more I’m paying for the policy and the fact that it was recommended by the American Kennel Association, I would have had one of the best policies. But it’s not one of the best--I did some investigating and found out that other companies have unlimited limits. Then I looked at the premiums of the other companies and they’re half the price. I’m disappointed in that sense.

One of my dogs has cost me about $40,000 now so I said no more, I'm going to get insurance for the next dog. So I did and got AKC Pet Insurance. There was a recent experience I had with AKC, when my dog ate a sock and it went into his intestines and it had to be operated on. I got reimbursed for everything but about $500. I hope he doesn't need another operation because this is his second one. As for AKC, I'd recommend it. I never had an issue with it.

I'm satisfied with my experience with AKC Pet insurance. We've been members for 20, 30 years or more. Just recently my dog had some medical problems, we put the claim in and they eventually sent something so it proved to be a valuable insurance for our pet.

My dogs got a herniated disc so it gets very expensive with a neurologist office here in Florida so I recently have filed a very large claim. AKC paid very quickly and a fairly big chunk of it so I'm very satisfied. Having AKC is extremely valuable and I tell all of my friends that it's a great thing to have. I'm almost evangelical about it. Excellent coverage. Excellent service.

I view my dogs as my children so I view them the same as if I had insurance for a son or a daughter. They’re a part of my family so they’re going to have health insurance. I live in a neighborhood where even though I have a fenced yard, there’s all kinds of animals all around. I figured it’s better to have my dog insured to make sure that if something bad happens, I get some help with the vet bills. I got the original AKC form when I bought my dog from the breeder. It was from the kennel club that registered my dog, so AKC's the one I wanted to go through with as it seemed natural. I didn’t ever wanna use it, but I've had to use it twice so having it is a good thing. Recently my dog twisted his knee and needed a surgery and AKC was able to help pay some of the pretty big bill. I've been with AKC for close to 9 years now and I’m happy with them.

AKC have been great. I've had it for years. They've been insuring and taking care of my dogs for years. One of my dogs just had a trauma and went through it really great. I've never had one minute of trouble with AKC and it has been really terrific.

Please beware to all who get started with this insurance company. I have had my dog insured with AKC now for 10 years. Tomorrow I will call to cancel. You see as your dog gets older they continue to raise the cost of their insurance if you have used, overused or not used at all. We have had no claims in the last two years but her costs continue to rise. And I mean rise. They went up over $500 dollars this year to $1179. I would think I would get dinner before such a screwing. The last three years were around $450 then over $600 and then this $1179. I can't imagine what next year will be. Why don't they send an honest letter saying we prefer to not insure your older dog!! Insurance companies cannot do this to humans as I am a practicing physician and deal with RIP OFF insurance companies all the time. But they can do it to you and will as your dog gets older and may need the insurance. Shop around and make a better choice as this group is a rip off!!!!!!!!!!! Doc ** and disgusted!!!!!

I'm very, very satisfied with AKC. I had a claim not too long ago. I was shocked at how quick it went through. When I had my initial claim a few months back, it took a full four or five weeks and maybe it's because I wasn't in the system then, but this one I was very pleased. It was like less than two weeks.

Our friend who has AKC recommended it to us. I've been a policyholder since August and I must say they were very generous in paying for a surgery the dog had to have, even though it took them quite a while.

I've been a customer of AKC Pet Insurance for about seven or eight years through the registration of a dog. At the time, I decided to look into acquiring pet insurance because I had a dachshund and they're notorious for back problems so I thought it would be a good benefit to have. My most recent experience has been with my corgi, Buffy, but I don't have a complete outcome. I have submitted several claims because she got sick and then got better and I've received the claim in a timely manner for that. But I've submitted two or three claims. It's been over 11 years since I first heard about AKC Pet Insurance and in all those years they've done a good job in the coverage that I've required. I've been satisfied.

The breeder from whom we got our golden retriever referred AKC Pet Insurance to us. Since it's the breed that tends to have a lot of illness as they age, we figured that it makes sense for us to have pet insurance when we need it. We have it for about six to seven years. This August, our pet passed away so we had a lot of medical bills. We had a good experience with the reimbursement, except that we weren't very clear about a co-insurance amount that was not covered. But for the most part, they reimbursed whatever expenses were due.

Whoever has a pet should get AKC pet insurance. When we first got our dog Milton, my husband heard about AKC and now I've been a policyholder for 12 years, since we got our black Labrador. Milton had a tumor on his butt so we got a claim for him and we received our money back, most of it, so it's really helpful. The way the cost is for vets, it's very helpful. Having a pet insurance is really valuable. I'd recommend it.

My experience with AKC Pet Insurance was great. I called to check the status of a claim and they not only gave a good status but the person that checked it had very good customer service.

The breeder recommended us to have a health insurance for Cody. We understood perfectly that we need that because she is like our small baby. And I recommend everybody that buys a dog to buy a health insurance. We have had a different experience with Cody and those types of services are too expensive. We recommend AKC to everybody.

We had the pedigree registered with our dog, and that's when I became familiar with AKC. I got the insurance as a safeguard in terms of meeting expenses in keeping the dogs healthy. But I've had a lot of difficulties with them. Recently, my dog Monty was limping and they were trying to determine what the source of the limp was. The doctors made the diagnosis and a couple of times, they made diagnoses that weren't valid. We finally got a specialist and discovered the source of the pain that was causing the dog to limp. By the time that happened, two times I got denials. And one was because of a degenerative condition and the other one was it was arthritis and these weren't the cases at all.

Having pet insurance is extremely valuable. We've had AKC pet insurance since we got our dog six years ago. It was the first time my wife and I had gotten a dog so we purchased pet insurance just in case... just kind of being precautionary. Recently our dog ate something like a bone or something she shouldn't have. We had to take her into a pet ER and they had to keep her overnight. It cost us about $1,600. We submitted claim right after that experience and got our claim back about 20 days after we submitted it... Would recommend AKC Pet Insurance.

I've been a policy holder with AKC since 2003. It wasn't too bad. However, we're still waiting on an appeal. My dog had a serious illness last April and I should have been more timely in putting the claims through but it was just kind of crazy. Anyway, it appears that some of her initial expenses at the beginning of the year got lumped into the diagnosis of brain stem meningioma and that would include things like her wellness exam in January. Those were denied. And I'm waiting and I don't know honestly what the status is. My vet has been pretty backlogged. And for some reason, they require the entire medical record which somewhere in all those claims that we've had, the information they're looking for should be there because that's not the first time it's been requested.

My dog had a torn ligament in her knee and there have been quite a few expenses that has been incurred from that injury since last June. Actually, she needed an ACL surgery that was back in October and AKC has been very good to me. I have been a policyholder with AKC Pet Insurance in the last 4 years. It's been great and I've had no issues. I would advise getting pet insurance to anyone. You'll never know when you're going to need it. You think something's not going to happen and it can.

I've been a policy holder with AKC Pet Insurance for 6 years. I heard about it through the breeder that I got my dog from when he was a puppy. I've never had a dog so I wanted him to be insured just to be on the safe side. Recently, I had to use it when our dog had to get surgery and the whole process was easy.

I signed up for the 60 day trial plan for my new lab puppy. Sign-up was easy- just a few clicks online. I quickly learned the value of insurance a few weeks later when my puppy became very sick with GI tract upset. He had to be hospitalized for 2 days with IV fluids and even needed bloodwork to ensure that he didn't have parvo. I submitted my claim a few days later to the AKC Pet Healthcare Plan. The claim form was easy to complete. I received my check within two weeks! I understand that most claims take about a month, but they beat their timeframe! Unexpected emergencies can be very expensive and two days at the vet would have put a huge dent in my pocketbook without this policy! Thank you, AKC Pet Healthcare Plan!

We have been a policy holders with AKC for five years since we bought Paulo from the breeder. We filed his AKC papers and the information was in there when he came back. We really don't have to use it that much, thank goodness. When we do, it really never meets even the deductible. We usually have something small year after year. This year was the first time I had put in, and I thought I was going to use it big because he had a growth on his gums. He was supposed to go to a doggy dentist and have it removed, but it removed by itself. The only thing I had was all the office visits from when he had go. I claimed for like 3 or 4 visits, and they said it was in claims, but I haven't heard from them yet.

I had changed from the insurance that I had to the AKC insurance a little over a month ago. For our little 6-pounder toy fox terrier it's very important to have insurance because he's so small that he could get hurt anywhere doing anything. I've gotten a few emails from the AKC that are informative too and I appreciate that.

I am on 60 day free trial period with AKC Pet Insurance. They're really polite on the phone. They seem ok and very competitive compared with the others. I get a lot of emails about pet insurance I don't know which one to get. Some of the others have the same thing but looking at the reviews, theirs look pretty good. I haven't used the insurance yet, I just have all the paper work. My puppy is only six months old. He has bronchitis or something and he's on antibiotics. I'm not sure if it is actually covered but I already paid for him. I don't know how it works. The pet insurance seems ok to me.

I'd recommend having AKC. I learned about them from the breeder, and so far my experience with them has been wonderful. Having a pet insurance is a hundred percent valuable. If you are human, you need insurance. So if pets have insurance, that's a good thing to do.

I registered my dog with AKC and chose their pet insurance because of the free trial. I put in two claims during the free trial period and haven't heard anything back from them, so as far as being updated on claims, they don't do the job. I followed up once and they said the response time is set to 60 days. I don't find that acceptable either, so I'm not renewing or I'll just let it expire after the free trial.

My dog was registered with the AKC. They gave him the 30 days free insurance when I bought him, and then I had the option to pick it up and I did. I had no idea at first about pet insurance providers. I didn't even know there was such a thing. But they're wonderful. Unfortunately, the dog is really sickly and they've always covered him. I have recommended them to a lot of my friends because I've heard horror stories about other pet insurance firms. It will be nine years in December since I've been with them.

I got a free two-month subscription from AKC insurance when I registered my dog a month ago. I had to call them to get some information about some forms I needed because I had to take my dog to the emergency and they were very helpful. They sent me the forms right over and it was good, no problem at all. With the type of dog I have, I have been told that they do have some health needs and it is always better to get insurance on them. I've already actually had to use it twice and it's been helpful. I will definitely keep it once my free trial expires. Everything is fine with AKC, they're very good and I would definitely recommend it to other people.

I chose them over other pet insurance providers because the pricing was reasonable, the coverage looked good, and it was a reputable name. For people like us, we don't want to give up. We just want to take care of them and give them the best quality of life that we can. The insurance allowed us to do that. We had one dog, Dillon and he needed a spleen removed and we ended up in a doggy emergency room. It was a $3000 bill for emergency surgery to put him back together again and AKC insurance covered all but just a miniscule amount of that, and that was amazing. That was great. Then he did develop cancer and he even needed blood transfusions and that was also covered. That was awesome.

Then my dog got really sick and had to be in the vet clinic overnight for four nights. I sent a claim in and I’ve gotten nothing. It occurred months ago so I’m not happy with it at all. I had the initial policy and then I signed up for it and since I heard nothing at all for my claim, I cancelled them.

When I called to set things up, I wish it wasn't as expensive as it was, but they were able to help me and assure me that everything would be taken care of. Their filing process was very easy. I just claimed it in, got an email and that was really cool. I already have recommended AKC Pet Insurance to friends.

The last time I called, the customer service rep I got was very rude to me; however, I have called around some other insurance companies. They sent me a booklet in the mail, letting me know what was covered. Then they said that it would take 30 days to get my reimbursement for visits and vaccinations, shots, and all that. The vet had recommended somebody too because they have never heard of AKC and they were having a hard time getting them to work with them as well.

That's when I called in and asked that they help me with the deal. So now I've had them for about ten months. I paid a lot of money for my dog and vet vendor is already expensive. The insurance is convenient and very handy. Dogs can get sick anytime, especially full-bred dogs.

I've been with AKC for 8 years. I liked their coverage so we added another dog but I was extremely disappointed with the fact that I have been a customer for over 8 years and that a different plan was available for my other dog, but because he turned 2 in March, they would no longer even allow us to be grandfathered. I have always been told that genetic problems would be covered, but now I find out it's no longer covered. In addition I have a corgi who does not have a genetic arthritis but due to another issue is developing arthritis, they will not cover that either, which I find highly disappointing for the amount of money that I've spent on health insurance.

I signed up with AKC Pet Insurance because it was the least expensive of all pet insurance providers. I had it for almost a year. Everything was fine and I had no problem. But I don't have them anymore because my cat's an indoor cat and she's very healthy, so I decided not to continue the insurance. Initially, I signed up for it because I'd never had it before, and my cat's a senior, so I wanted to make sure she was covered for anything that may happen. Having the pet insurance is valuable if you need it. I didn't need it at the time though. But AKC's staff were easy to deal with so I had a very good experience.

We got something about AKC Pet insurance in our little packet when we bought our puppy. We looked at the rates and decided to go with it. We figured it would be a good idea to have him protected. We have another Great Dane, too. We have two very expensive dogs and having pet insurance is extremely valuable with our breeds in case anything happens like bad bloats, broken leg, have to have emergency surgery, etc... having big dogs is challenging sometimes.

I chose it because it was endorsed by the AKC. My dog has remained healthy, which is good, so I haven't really done anything other than enroll. Everything was very straightforward and easy.

We got our puppy in May along with AKC insurance. In early June she got a UTI. Well that one didn't fully go away after vet visits and she soon got a second UTI. This cost us about 400+ in vet bills. We sent in a claim to the insurance co. and come to find out, they will not cover any of the expenses at all because all this took place within a 30 day period that is not covered. Absolutely ridiculous. Do NOT recommend them.

It was fine. It was free for the first month or two that we had our dog, so it wasn’t something I worried about.

I have been a customer for many years, since my dog was young. As he grew older and began to have various health problems, AKC Pet Healthcare decided to 'lump' all his ailments together and deny coverage after the limit was reached. They first CHANGED THE DIAGNOSIS as stated by my vet from 'Pyoderma' to 'Draining tract'. Although they later apologised for this first attempt at deceit, they continued to deny coverage claiming that my vet's explanation to them supported their supposition that all my pet's problems have a common cause. My vet had written that "Some of these infections if not all are related in some way to his age, stool issues and difficulty getting up" So, their final claim is that my pet's issues are due to AGE and hence have a common cause. This is totally absurd not to mention reprehensible. They essentially abandoned my aging pet at his greatest time of need. After all these years of paying them monthly thinking that my pet will be helped as he ages, my old and ailing pet can no longer receive medical treatment he so desperately needs.

After years of coverage and multiple policies for our 4 pups with the AKC Pet Partners Insurance, the time came for me to have utilized it for our adored pup. He was sick, no question about that. I had insurance or so I thought. Our sweet boy was hospitalized, required an MRI of the brain which indicated some sort of a lesion, then developed nephritis. Later he came down with aspiration pneumonia and also had an emergency hospital visit as well. It ended much to my heart break with the loss of this sweet boy when I was told that it was medically necessary to euthanize him.

The only one that the AKC Pet partners Insurance partners with is with themselves! This company has denied my family thousands of dollars in unpaid claim inclusive of euthanasia. I am shopping other insurance after experiencing how deplorable the customer service is, the lost claims they forever seem to misplace and the wrongful denial to claims inclusive of euthanasia when we were told it was medically necessary. I had the wellness plan pretty comprehensive and they only pay peanut things when it comes to the true reason we have insurance forget about the AKC since you have nothing at all if you are with the AKC Pet partners Insurance per our experience.

I'm writing from New York and I'm writing in complaint of the AKC Pet Healthcare Plan based in Raleigh, NC underwritten by Markel Insurance (Virginia). My issue at hand is that I currently am treating my 6 year old German shepherd dog with kidney dialysis twice a week, due to kidney disease/failure. AKC Pet Healthcare won't provide any dialysis coverage.
