I read the reviews for a product (stamps.com) and everyone had the same experience as me (ANGRY). This emboldened me to go back to them and DEMAND ALL my money back, which they (90%) did. If I hadn't seen here that EVERYONE had the same fine print huge monthly service fee, I never would have known what a scam this company was running. I told stamps.com that 200 people all had the same complaints and a class action lawsuit would be easy get rolling.

$16 monthly fee hidden at sign up. I'm pretty sure I was never told there'd be a monthly fee. I bought one stamp as a test and then racked up $100 in fees before I realized they were charging me. Yeah I'm stupid for not checking my credit card statements closer but they're scamming people.

This operation is a scam. Like others have said, you think you're buying a couple of stamps and they end up charging you $15.99 a month. When you finally figure out there's a pattern on your credit card bill, it's too late; customer service department turns a deaf ear to complaints. They refunded one months' charges, but they've been charging me for a year. I will tell everyone I know not to even click on this site. You could probably make money being legit, Stamps.com. What reason is there for you to scam people in this manner?

Stamps made sure that I won't see that their service cost $15.99 a month. I printed one stamp for $3 that cost $4.50 on USPS website. Today I found out that that stamp cost me $16 and would cost me even more unless I spotted that charge in my credit card statement. How a company that is publicly trading stocks can have such a lousy business operation? How many people are being mislead every day?

I signed up for Stamps.com about a year and a half ago to purchase postage at home quick to send out some gifts to my nephews. Been paying for it (literally) ever since, $15.99/mo. The debit card attached to the account expired last month and they've been unable to bill me so they've been bugging my bank over it. My bank called ME because they are sick of Stamps.com trying to bill a dead card. I read the horror stories online and called to cancel this morning. About the first thing the customer service lady did was try to sell me the cheaper $9.99 plan. I told her I was only interested in canceling and she tried to sign me up for it anyway and asked how I'd like to pay for the new service plan today. I told her "Excuse me?? I thought I made myself perfectly clear when I said I don't want any plan. I just want to cancel the account." Then she says she'll just go ahead and sign me up for that and I came uncorked. I asked her if she was some kind of pinhead and if she was even listening to me.

She told me that they needed a last payment of $15.99 for last months service and I asked her to tell me what service I had used and she couldn't because I didn't. I told her I was not going to pay for ** because they had already taken me for hundreds of dollars. After putting me on hold to talk with a supervisor, she told me the balance owed would be removed. I MADE her promise that no further billing attempts would be made and no collection letters or anything like that would come in the future before I got off the phone. Wouldn't you know it, they canceled the account alright, and less than 2 minutes later tried to collect the $15.99 from the dead debit card.... twice.. ** this place, crooked as all get out, but it did feel good calling at least one of them a pinhead!

My daughter needed postage for a package and didn't have time to go to the post office. She thought stamps.com would be convenient. She vaguely remembers seeing a pop-up that said something like "why we need this information" when she was buying her postage, and clicked through it without reading the fine-print. She has just discovered that she has been billed $15.99 for several months for a service she only used once - apparently this is on top of the $10 or so minimum charge (of which the postage itself cost only about $8). The company now refuses to remove all but the most current month's charge, telling her she agreed to their terms. They slide this monthly charge past trusting customers in those fine print pop-ups that we all click through too quickly. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.

I had some difficulties with the other major online postage provider and decided to try Stamps.com. Thoroughly disappointed. Their software is clunky and very difficult to use. I literally tried for hours to make it work to no avail. I finally got it to work (somewhat, just by re-entering the same required info many times) and needed to add some $ to my account and that worked fine (they took my money). Tried to finish the process and got the same stupid popup window that I had before and had to start all over again. Tried several more times with the same result. Had a friend of mine on the phone who uses this service regularly to help step me through.

Frustrated I decided to close my account and that is when it really got interesting. First and foremost there are no real people to talk to only computer programs. Once I decided to close the account the robots started to make me some “fantastic offers” to stay. I had to sit through about 5 of them. Once I got through that I was informed that I would be charged another month’s full service fee and the balance would be refunded to me. Really? How good was that? I will never do business with this company ever again, nor will I ever recommend anyone else doing so. Just simply awful in all aspects.

Needed stamps and saw online ad for Stamps.com. I wanted to save a trip to the post office and signed up. However, I never got their product to work and forgot about it. Now I realize they have been charging me $16 per month for the last half year, even though I never used their product. I would have never tried to use this service had it been apparent to me that I am signing up for a subscription. So they are probably deliberately hiding this in their fine print. Now I want to cancel and they are telling me I have to call them during business hours. I am working during that time and have more important things to do. This whole experience feels like a scam to me. Is it?

I had a difficult time canceling because you cannot cancel online and even though I never used the service and had to resort to a chargeback with my credit card company to get their attention, they still said that the service fees were valid because they had opened a virtual account portal for me, whatever that means. Why would the USPS be affiliated with a company that is obviously ripping off its clients?

We do not know exactly how stamps.com "signed" us up for "service". We suspect it was similar to another person's experience where they gave too much information and by default agreed to terms that no one should have with anyone's credit card and by default were "signed" up for their "services". We expect that it was clear that it was too costly for our use and did not decide (or so we thought) to use their service. However, our card questioned the charge and we became aware that without our explicit consent they billed us for months and cancellation is difficult.

36 months ago, I created an account using ShipRush.com which uses the Stamps.com API to provide one with shipping labels. Darn thing never worked. ShipRush.com software was great, but the Stamps.com system rejected my credit card information repeatedly and never let me charge/purchase postage credit; thus, I never used the account to do what it is supposed to do - purchase and print postage.

I got ticked off and stopped trying to get it to work after about a week and numerous phone calls. So I called and cancelled - (which took many customer service reps to "figure it out" because they were constantly ** or confused about the accounts relationship with the 3rd party API partner ShipRush.com and at one point they didn't know if I was cancelling my account or the entire ShipRush.com account - it was a ridiculous session - but I was told in the end that my service was cancelled). 6 months later I got a bill in the mail (remember, they wouldn't accept my credit card info for whatever reason) claiming that I owed about $60. I called, cancelled, and said I was not going to pay the bill and I didn't want to discuss it any further at that time.

Today, March 2014: "Second Collections Notice" from Stamps.com in the mail. Charge: $599.00. I never used the account. The service was broken and did not work. I have not logged in for 36 months. I cancelled the account. I cancelled the account again. I'm forwarding this to everyone I can think of at Stamps.com by email and in writing to: "Legal Department - Dispute Resolution, Stamps.com Inc., 1990 E Grand Ave., El Segundo, CA 90245". I seek 100% reversal of all fees ($599.00 as of 2/28/2014) and a letter sent to me stating my account is closed and I owe no money and I will not be referred to collections.

Offer the same postage discounts as eBay and free stamp sheets. Your cost for postage is not only higher than eBay but Stamps.com also charges for the postage sheets compounded with a monthly subscription. I thought that I would be saving more overall on my flyers postage by subscribing to your program but I ended up paying more on both ends. I used to buy stamps online $52.92 for a 100 stamps. When I compared them with Stamps.com, it came up to $48.00 that's difference of $4.92 in postage saving only with Stamps.com. However with Stamps.com I now have to pay a monthly subscription of $15.95 and use my printer, energy, ink, if I choose not to buy Stamps.com sheets then, I also have to use my own paper. So there goes my $4.92 that I save with Stamps.com in postage only. In the end I will be paying more for my postage needs with Stamps.com than with USPS and eBay. Stamps.com is a convenience postage service company that provides postage on demand at your finger tips in moment's notice which is nice if you can afford it or want to but, in my case, I neither can nor want to.

I really can't believe my own story. I place an online order for photo stamps and requested rush processing. I called the company in advance to find out how quickly I would receive them because time was of the essence. I was told, not promised, that my order on Wednesday morning would likely be shipped on Friday. So I placed the order. Their machines broke and I was never informed. I called on Thursday and was told they would be shipped on Friday. I called on Friday and was told they would be shipped on Monday. I called on Monday and was given a FedEx tracking number as they would be delivered Tuesday evening. They weren't given to FexEx until Tuesday.

It's now Wednesday, a week later, and I went to the post office and bought plain stamps and mailed my invitations. When I came back from the post office, the FedEx package arrived, and the stamps are the wrong color (purple instead of blue). HA. Anyone can understand and be frustrated with computer problems, but the real issue here is with their customer service. I spoke to 2 client service reps who knew nothing about the process, couldn't explain anything, and one was entirely uncaring about my problem. Feeling like "I'm" the idiot, I escalated and spoke to two different supervisors who made assurances to me that my order was being processed and they were doing everything they could. I spoke to one on Monday and another on Tuesday. The problem they have is that they are not empowered to get things done, and justifiably so.

Lastly, I've called their manager who has yet to respond to my call. I doubt he'll call because he doesn't want to speak with me, I can be difficult :) but only when I believe I'm in the right, and I am. Hopefully someone senior at this company looks at this post and decides to do something about their customer service department. Rule #1 of business is that your customers keep you in business so don't screw them! Lastly, I don't think there's an option for ZERO STARS, but if there were, that's what they get. (If the manager ever call's me, I'll update this review.)

At which point, my Stamps.com account no longer worked on any PC. I contacted them by phone, email and mail requesting assistance. I received none. So I notified them that I was canceling. No response.

My credit card expired after I was charge for a month that I did not use. I again notified them that the account was closed due to their software issues (had been loyal customer for several years). I informed them that the software issue had cost my business money and they were charging me monthly service fees for a service that I could not use. Again I asked them to close the account, and cancel the alleged balance due. I received no response. I called, there isn't a number for complaints, so I hit "4" the number for signing up because I knew they would answer the call right away which they did. The lady told me that she would waive the last fee scheduled for 2/6/2014. Less than 30 minutes later I got an email from my bank which alerts me when my funds are less than $50. I checked to see what had just happened and Stamps.com CHARGED me ANOTHER $16. They had JUST charged me $16 on 1/6/2014 and less than 30 minutes later they charged me again on 1/14/2014.

So I called again and hit "4" but this time it took a lot longer for them to answer. I was put on hold a few times and finally a supervisor named Ron told me a confirmation number and said that my money would be returned in 3 to 5 days. I fault myself for buying 50 sheets of NetStamps labels from this company. In my rush to buy stamps for Christmas cards and join the modern world of purchasing stamps from the USPS over the Internet, I somehow stumbled onto this company believing that I was dealing directly with the USPS. I thought that I had bought sheets of labels on which I could print stamps for the amount that I paid for the labels, minus shipping costs. Ok, so I obviously did not read the contract thoroughly. However, I certainly DID NOT sign up for a monthly plan.

After trying to log in to the USPS to print stamps on the labels that I received through the mail, I embarrassingly realized that I was dealing with a third party company, Stamps.com. So after I logged on to Stamps.com with the account that I had created to purchase the labels (which I thought I had created with the USPS), I tried to print a page of stamps on the labels and found that I would be charged for them. I was perplexed as to what I paid $56 for when I purchased these labels, if I was now paying for each stamp that I was printing. So I searched the web to find out whether this was a legitimate company and found over 150 complaints about the company, especially regarding monthly charges. Sure enough, I checked my account profile and saw that I was signed up for a monthly $15.99 plan. I know for sure that I DID NOT knowingly or willingly sign up for a monthly plan when I purchased those labels. I simply wished to purchase labels on which to print my stamps.

As some of these other complaints about Stamps.com indicate, it is impossible to cancel my account online, so I will call customer service tomorrow to cancel and hope that I do not experience the same cancellation fees and continual charges of my debit card after my account is canceled. I cannot believe that the USPS allows this company, with these types of business practices, to list itself as an approved licensed vendor of the USPS. This is shameful.

A recurring charge for $15.99 just showed up on my card. I never was able to get their site to work because of the particular web browser I use. I called their support and was told to use the web interface, which of course didn't work either. Therefore, I was never able to receive any product, service or conduct any transactions. I just got off the phone with Stamps.com rep and was told I was paying the monthly fee for "access to the service". My point is that with no capable interface to their services, I am unable to use them. I was, however able to get the account closed, received a confirmation of the closure, and a statement balance of $00.00. Now, I must go back to my card issuer and dispute the charge.

I signed up for Stamps.com. I thought this was going to be similar to my USPS.com account. I used $11.03 in postage and was charged $111.93 in monthly fees. When I called to cancel my account, they would not reverse any of the monthly fees, so I had to dispute them with my credit card company. I told the account fees were 10x the postage I was using, so they tried to offer me a $9.99 per month account. I told them that was still 6x the postage. I don't spend $120 a year driving to the post office to buy an annual $20 in gas. Stamps.com claimed the month fee was disclosed in the terms and conditions as well as the welcome email. It certainly wasn't disclosed in the welcome email, and many other people did not see it in the terms and conditions either. I would be happy to join a class action suit against Stamps.com.

When you call to close the account they'll try to sell you other services even if you've told them repeatedly your business is closed. Then they'll send you a giant bill. Read the fine print! I noticed I had a recurring charge on my credit card for $17.95. By the time I noticed it, there were four charges stacked up. I had been paying off my credit card each month but I never looked at all the individual purchases. My first charge was August 5, 2013. So today (12/3/13) I looked online to cancel. I figured if it was an online service I could cancel online. Wrong. So I called their customer support number to 1) cancel this subscription account and 2) get a full refund of $71.80. Be prepared to wait upwards of 5-10 minutes to even get someone.

When I got someone on the line they weren't helpful. He said he didn't know the policies for a refund, but that he could cancel my account. He also said I had two open accounts, one dating back to 2005. Wow. Thankfully, no charges were on that account. He transferred me to a supervisor who was absolutely rude. She kept cutting me off when I asked a question and she kept explaining their "services" and that they are a legitimate business. I just cancelled my account for paying four months of a service I never used so why would I care about anything else they offered?

When asking for a refund she kept refusing, "We don't reimburse for service subscriptions." I never used it, never bought anything from STAMPS.com, so why was I getting charged? She said they send emails of reminders to pay each statement which I said was incorrect. She then confirmed my email account as the one they had on file and said, "Yes, we sent you an email in July." Um... ok, that was 6-7 months ago. That's not a reminder every statement. I kept pushing for a refund and she kept denying, "We can't give refunds." Then she said, "What I can do is try to get your last month refunded." So ok, they CAN offer refunds. I argued with her about it and she said, "I said I can TRY. I didn't say I COULD."

Five minutes of waiting and she got back on to tell me she could get my last two months authorized for a refund. I said how about the whole four months and she snapped back saying it was only out of "courtesy" that I was even getting anything back. Even then she asked, "Is this what you want?" Yea I want a refund, but now I have to beg for it or show appreciation for a partial refund? I told her I saw online other complaints where people got 6 months refunded or all but the first month, and she said refunds are done on a case by case scenario. I'm in the same scenario. I don't get it.

Nevertheless, I took the pitiful partial refund and will be looking into disputing the charges with my credit card. Do not use this service. I've never ran into this situation where I couldn't get a refund for a service I never used. They have a scam business model through and through. After the phone call I checked my email and it said my refund still needs to be authorized and that I may be charged for a final month. Please save yourself the trouble and do not even go to this website. It's not USPS (which is what I originally thought). It's a scam. In the end, you aren't paying for a service at all. I was told you're paying for "usage of your account." Which isn't tracked so they can have even less accountability.

So I called and spoke with a couple of different people before I was successful at canceling. I only used their service for a "free month" promo they were running. But during the cancellation process I was informed that I had an outstanding balance of $31 ($15 monthly fee + a $15 "service fee" - what?! I thought I had a "free" month??).

I eventually got them to agree to waive the charges though. So I cancel and I ask them if they can remove my credit card from their database because I don't want any charge attempts from their company. I am told not to worry that they won't charge me and everything is canceled. Okay...here's where it gets good...I log into my email and I have several new emails from them. One is a cancellation confirmation from them, the second is an account invoice saying I have a balance with them of $31, and the last is an email saying they ATTEMPTED TO CHARGE MY CREDIT CARD FOR THE BALANCE DUE BUT WERE UNSUCCESSFUL!

This charge attempt was only four minutes after I got off the phone with them! The good news is - they were unsuccessful because I had a Bluebird American Express linked to my Stamps.com account and I didn't have any money in my Bluebird account at that time, thank goodness! If I did have money in that account, they would have taken the $31 from me after promising me they wouldn't. After 13 months of debits, I discussed it with the employee because we do very few mailings, and he told me he'd never signed up or been using Stamps.com. I called Stamps.com and discovered that the account was in my name, and the credit card number was my company card! I tried to cancel, and was told the equipment wasn't working and someone would call me back. A week went by with no call. I called again, and the account was cancelled but I was told I could not receive a refund of the $233.35 that had been debited from out account.

I pointed out that I'd never signed up or opened an account knowingly, and that we'd received nothing in exchange (never used the account). The response was one of absolute irresponsibility. I was told that nothing could be done. Despite my arguments, they refused to refund the money. So Stamps.com somehow signed us up unknowingly for a service that we never received, and they are unwilling to refund the money taken from our account. Normally if you take $233 from someone and don't give anything in exchange, you are considered criminal. The person I talked to did explain that I might have clicked on some sort of promotional code on another site and been signed up that way. This is covert and unethical.

I wanted to explore Stamps.com for more USPS postage options which was a big mistake! I did enter my credit card data when asked but there was absolutely no warning on the Stamps.com website that I was signing up for a $15.99 per month charge - I assumed that as I had not purchased anything that would be the end of it. I frequently check the credit card I use for online transactions and today I caught the $15.99 charge from Stamps.com.

I immediately called them and it took me over 30 minutes on the phone with them to get this straightened out. I was very clear from the beginning with the first person I spoke to that I had not agreed to a monthly charge and that I wanted an immediate credit from them. He wasted over 10 minutes of my time trying to sell me the service before he told me that he was not authorized to return my money. I was then transferred to the second person for a similar experience - after wasting several minutes, she told me that she was not authorized to return my money.

My patience was gone, my voice was loud, and I was promising a small claims court filing the next day when I finally was transferred to the third person who, after several wasted minutes, told me my money would be returned. I refused to hang up until I received an email from her confirming the refund. I make frequent online transactions and this is the first time I have run into such a scam. Stamps.com was a familiar name to me so perhaps I let my guard down. Also, my experiences using USPS and FedEx online postage have not been perfect (there is a slight learning curve), but both organizations have been totally above board with charges. I signed up in May 2012 because I needed to print a few stamps. After almost a year, I realized that they have been charging for $15.99 a month since that time. I don't remember anything about that service fee. Furthermore, the contract agreement they sent me at the beginning does not mention anything like that. I am really pissed, and I see I am not alone here. If anyone is interested in considering a class action, let me know please.

There are no services of any consequence that Stamps.com offers that are not offered by the US Postal Service online. It is excessively expensive and cancelling the account after many years as faithful client proved both tedious and unpleasant. They were quick to charge me a full month's fee for the two days that passed between my last payment and my request that the account be closed. In short, the best bet for the average user is the US Postal service, not Stamps.com.

When I called, I was told that I didn't pay the amount for the shipping and handling for the scale. If I didn't pay then, how did they get my credit card information? I called to cancel just now (this is what I was told I had to do from an email I sent). I obtained my cancellation number and was told that if I kept my account open, the last month charge would be waived and also for the upcoming month.

I said no, I want to end this. I was told that I would need to pay the charge of $15.99 that was a past month charge. I just received 3 emails stating the same thing. I never used this service. I signed up for the trial because they advertised lots of free stuff. I had to pay $9.99 s&h for the scale, which I realized in advance. I think that was a good deal on a digital postal scale. I received the scale, some NetStamps sheets and a bunch of postcard to mail back for account credits. The postcards have to be mailed using NetStamps and you can only send one per month after the trial period, so that's a little shady. (I think they advertised $50 in free postage, but you only get that if you pay for four months after the trial period and do the postcard thing.) They don't have software for Mac. The site interface functions but isn't great. I mailed one package with them and paid the same amount as I would have going through usps.gov.

If you want to ship a package that costs more than your account balance, it prompts you to buy more postage. The prompt offers increments like $10, $25, etc. What I didn't realize at first is that there is an Other button at the bottom, so you don't have to spend $10 if you only need $8 to ship your package. You cannot print postage that brings your balance to zero. The scale is designed to work with the software and the site, but you can use it by itself, too. Just plug in the USB and read the weight. I called today and cancelled. I waited a long time on hold but once I got a person, it only took a couple minutes and no attempts to persuade me to keep the account. The confirmation email arrived right away, so hopefully I'm done with them. I don't think I'd use the site much if it were free, and I'm definitely not paying $16/month for it.

I received a promo letter in the mail. The promo said they would give you 30 dollars or so worth of stamps for signing up. So I did. Afterwards the site only showed $5 worth of free postage. That seriously bothered me. After a few days, I realized that I would not be using the service and logged on to find the cancellation button or link. Well, to my surprise, there was no cancellation link or button. That was a red flag! At that point, I knew it was either a scam or a company with scam-like business practices. I program websites and software for a living; all respected companies offer a cancellation button on their website.

After that, I sent an email to a representative about the issue and later received an email indicating that the service had been cancelled. I thought all was good. Boy, was I wrong! About a month later, I received an email indicating that my credit card did not go through (luckily, I had just changed cards). I then contacted them again over email to cancel my account and that I would not be paying anything. I was told that my account could not be cancelled over email because of security and, because of security, they did not have any other way to cancel including a link on their site (seems legit, right? No) but I could call their 1800 no. I called and spoke to someone about canceling the account. After telling the salesperson a couple of times that all I wanted to do was cancel, he then cancelled the account. He said there would be no more issues, etc.

Guess what? It was not over. I received a letter with the header that said, "Sorry you canceled the account but you owe a balance." The letter seemed to be generic like they send a lot of these out. I never used the service in anyway; I just had issues canceling it. They will not receive a dime from me and if they post anything against my credit report, I would be happy to spend more money fighting them in court - it's the principle. I have not had a chance to speak to my lawyer, but in a few days I will. From what I can see online, this company has done this to a lot more people than me and they have even been sued by another customer. They may be adding me soon.

I was told about the monthly service fee which is paid in addition to purchasing postage. I then cancelled my account with resistance from the company for they wanted me to buy a less expensive "plan." I declined and they told me I would be refunded and would receive an email within a few hours. I did get the email and it stated that I would be credited $14.96.

Within a few days, I was charged an additional $1.03. I called the company again and spoke with Kathy who stated I was credited a portion of the new charges and the previous month was non-refundable. She spoke with a supervisor who agreed to credit the $1.03. When closing the conversation, I asked Kathy if this company was the USPS and she stated they were not; they were, in fact, an affiliate. I blame myself for not being more mindful of using a service like this yet on the same note, I trusted the symbol "USPS" which is on the first page of the website. I found time to call. After about 45 mins worth of call time I was able to close my account. They did try to sell me some other plan. I tried not to get angry on the phone and explained my story. I didn't pursue the $30 I've already paid them for not using their service. They worked with me to get the price reduced on the $100+ they said I owed them.

Their statement still needs to be simplified. Just because you are signing up for an account doesn't really let you know that you are signing up under a no risk 4 week trial. There should be a warning there. Maybe auto popup detailing this trial period. As potential customers we shouldn't have to look for this info.

    Original Review: Dec. 11, 2012

I signed up for an account thinking I would not be charged for anything unless I bought something. I never logged in or inquired about this for 9 months (lack of interest in the company). I never used their service. I got a letter from them saying I owed them money. Obviously, I was outraged. They took $30 from me for the first 2 months. I changed credit cards for unrelated reasons. They tried to take more for the next 4 months. Then, they set the account to delinquent. Why would they continue to give me service if I wasn’t paying for 4 months? They say I owe about $100 for the 4 months + late fees. I would never have signed up if I knew they were going to charge me for nothing. Apparently, they charge you to have an account with them regardless of you buying anything or using service.

Here’s their statement: “Why do you need my credit card information? - Your credit card is required by the USPS to set up your USPS postage account. Your credit card will not be charged unless you buy additional postage or Stamps.com products, or if you continue past the no-risk 4-week trial period (only $15.99 per month).” I don’t remember seeing the $15.99 part originally. I can’t prove that it wasn’t there or may have just changed to show this. They should have called me to settle this after it wasn’t getting paid. But instead, they just kept letting it rack up. What the statement should say is you are signing up for a 4-week trial, at the end of which you will be charged $15.99 to the credit card you provide. This information is there, but you have to click the more details link near this statement to get an explanation.

I talked to Stamps.com. They sent me a generic statement talking about how they explain the fees. I doubt they will be giving my money back. Don’t even sign up for an account. You have to call to cancel. I work, so I don’t have much time to do this sort of thing.

Back in February of 2012, I signed up to receive an information pack from Stamps.com. As a student, the idea of printing my own postage seemed convenient. When I received the packet, I noticed that to use their service, you first needed to pay for a digital postage scale to be shipped to you, as well as install a specific program. This simply didn't seem worth the effort, so I put the packet away and continued on with my busy days. Fast forward to October, I'm now in a graduate program and making a more conscious effort to conserve my money. When I noticed a $15.99 charge on my statement listed as Stamps, I was confused. I hadn't even visited the post office that month. After doing some investigating and eventually resetting my log-in information, I discovered that I was apparently enrolled in a monthly program. I more thoroughly reviewed my past billing statements - indeed there was a consistent $15.99 "Stamps" charge since March. Never did I receive an invoice email or notification that my "trial" was becoming a subscription.

This monthly charge was not made clear when signing up for their information packet, and I feel deceived. I have been charged $15.99 for the past 8 months for a service I have never used once. I realize I am partially at fault for not checking my billing statements more thoroughly (I have now learned from this) though it's easy to ignore a charge simply listed as Stamps. Even worse, they make the process of cancellation very difficult. Though it's easy to sign up online, you can only cancel by phone. Once I spoke with an agent, the process was thankfully quick, though I was pretty strict with my disinterest in him trying to sell me on keeping my account. I just received a cancellation email and a service charge for closing my account. This is simply the most deceitful online business I have ever experienced, and I'm shocked that they are allowed to conduct business.

I did not realize when I signed up for a temporary account that I would be automatically signed up for monthly payments. When I discovered them on my credit card statement, I tried to cancel the account. This is difficult. Not only must you call in to do so, but the directions indicating as much are not easy to locate on the website. Choosing the option on the automated message to cancel one's account causes the phone line to disconnect (This bears repeating, as it is surely bordering on criminal conduct!).

I intentionally chose the wrong option on that message in order to be put in contact with a human. That was quick enough once I thought to do it. Unfortunately, employees seem to be required to fight you when you ask to cancel an account. The person I spoke with was very hesitant to allow that to happen, regularly derailing the conversation with promotional offers. He would conclude each pitch by saying, "I'll go ahead and sign you up for (this service) and if in 30 days you still want to cancel, just call back." It took me threatening to contact law enforcement for him to acquiesce.

Then, I got an e-mail saying that my account would be charged a fee for being cancelled! My God! This just happened, so I haven't yet had an opportunity to see if the cancellation will actually take effect, as other reviewers seem to indicate it won't. I'm certain this sort of behavior falls under the scope of a federal criminal statute, but I just don't want to have to waste any more time with this. I would love to participate in somebody else's lawsuit though.

There are too many problems to describe! Here's a partial list: It's very hard to cancel service; you can only cancel by phone and long hold times, especially early in week. I have a confirmation number I was given and two months ago when I called back to find out why my bank account was charged another $24.99, they told me I never canceled and the confirmation number I have is not theirs. The software doesn't work well resulting in a need to get refunds and this is not easy; and I couldn't find prices listed on website. Don't do business with Stamps.com!

Recently, we created an account with Stamps.com for my company. We wanted to be able to order and print postage for small packages we ship out. After seeing that the website was not convenient and that they were constantly guiding us to buy more packages, we did not make any orders with Stamps.com. A month later, we see a $15.99 charge for our service fees? I was very confused by this because we did not order anything. I see in the 3 emails we received that we were sent a "welcome kit" (that we never received of course). I could only assume that we were being charged for this welcome kit. When I called customer service, the gentleman informed me that we had signed up for a pro-rated packaged (what? when?) with a monthly fee of $15.99. In the midst of all my complaints, he keeps trying to sell me on stamps.com and the "great" discounts they offer and convenience. Did you hear me buddy? I'm frustrated with your company and absurd charges; no I do not want to hear about your promotions and the "lower rate monthly package" for just $9.99; I want my money back and to cancel this service!

After I declined the $9.99 service, he then told me of a free monthly service. He would only waive the current month’s $15.99 charge if I stayed on under this free service. I'm sure that if I don't cancel in 90, I'll learn that the free service was temporary and I'm back to $15.99/month. He continued to insist that I received an email making it "clear" that we were being charged a monthly service. I'm staring right at the email; there is no comment about a monthly service. To break it down: (1) Stamps.com is a mailing service and they couldn't even deliver our "welcome kit" to us! (2) They somehow sign you up for monthly packages you don't want or you are not aware of. (3) They are constantly giving a sales pitch even in the middle of a complaint. Absurd… I would not recommend stamps.com and their terrible service.

This company is a complete fraud. A few months ago, I went and registered for an account for usps.com as our local post office was having issues printing priority mail labels. I figured I would do it online so I registered with an account at usps.com. A few weeks later, someone somehow got a hold of one of my credit cards and began making purchases, so I immediately canceled the card and got refunded for all the charges.

Now a month later, I began getting emails from stamps.com saying they couldn’t charge my credit card because it was declined. I read the email and seeing I never signed up, I figured it was a scam as every day I get those “Update your PayPal account” or “We had an issue with your bank account please log in so we can resolve the issue” in which all those sites take you to fraud sites that steal your information. That is what I figured happened here so I ignored the email.

A few days ago, I get something in the mail saying I owe stamps.com $50.00 which really got me upset. After calling (and getting disconnected), I emailed them and I explained I had no idea what stamps.com was nor have I ever used them. The lady in the email told me that my account had never sent anything and basically was inactive and that she would close my account. So, I figured it was the end of it. The next day, I got an email confirming my account was closed but in order to stay in “Good standing”; I needed to pay the $50.00 service fee. This really ticked me off so I wrote a reply explaining I have never signed up for stamps.com nor have I ever used them to send anything as I don’t trust companies like them; never have and never will.

I got a reply saying they will forward my ticket to a supervisor whom will assist me in getting this resolved. Now here is my question(s): Why would a company continue to bill an account for several months when the credit card was declining every time? Most companies would lock the account, so why was my account allowed to remain open and billed for a service I never signed up for or used? I do not understand how a company expects someone to pay all this money when I never used them then continue to bill me each month knowing the transaction would fail as that card was canceled due to unauthorized use.

Luckily stamps.com never actually got any money from me but now they are demanding I pay them for a service I never used or signed up for. To me this is fraud as my account should have raised some flags when they saw the card was declining and when they saw it has never been used instead of letting it charge and build up on my account. I mean my goodness, if I hadn’t noticed it and years went by, they could have added up thousands of dollars’ worth of billing on an account I never made.

This company is fraud so stay away. Customer support is also a joke as they don’t hear anything you say; they simply use automated replies and are only interested in getting money for the service. Hopefully, the company will close the account and not bill me, but I am waiting to see what the supervisor says. However, I would never sign up with them or recommend anyone else just by how they are handling this issue.

Back in December 2011, I wanted to avoid the long lines at my local USPS location, so I arranged to print a postage label from Stamps.com for a one-time Christmas shipment to Hawaii. Unbeknownst to me, they sent me an email explaining the trial period and cancellation process. How could I have not known about this email until today? It had gone straight to my junk mail account. I have no idea why. Here's my first lesson: check your junk mail from time to time. Also unbeknownst to me, Stamps.com has been charging me $15.99 a month for the past 7 months. How could I have not known about these charges until today? I have automatic online bill payment, plus after the holidays I had stopped using the credit card until just recently. So here's my second lesson: even if you have stopped using a credit card and/or have automatic online bill payment, check your monthly credit card statements!

Stay away from Stamps.com for another reason. They have lousy customer service. When I called the first time today, I had to wait a long time to reach a very pushy customer care representative. Lea put me on hold three times and each time she came back with a new spiel, the last one was it’s just another free trial period! When I called back later in the day, I didn't have to wait as long to connect with a customer care representative, but the guy was just as pushy and refused to reverse the charges. I have canceled my Stamps.com account and contacted my credit card company to dispute the transactions. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll get some of the money back. If not, I have learned some very important, albeit expensive, lessons and hope you will learn from my lessons, too.

They refused to reverse charges which they could. Of course, I didn't know I had an account with them. I share a credit card with my husband and every now and then I saw the Stamps.com's charge and thought he was buying stamps online. Well, our credit card was stolen recently and Stamps.com sent me the first email in 4 years to say that they're having difficulties charging me! This leads to discovery of their scam. I signed up on Stamps.com for the smallest plan because the way it reads when you are signing up, makes it look like how much postage you are planning on using a month, not what you will be billed for a monthly fee. I signed up originally because I sell items through Etsy and Ebay and I get the occasional customer that doesn't pay through Paypal. I didn't realize at the time that I could still use my Paypal account to print shipping labels, but now I am. Shipping costs are the same through Paypal. There is no magical discount that isn't already associated with Paypal on Stamps.com.

I never received any shipping supplies through Stamps.com because I already have shipping supplies of my own that were way cheaper by using Amazon.com. So after finding the charge for $15.99 for the "monthly" fee they dance around, I called Stamps.com to cancel my account. Since finding that I can still use Paypal without receiving payment, it's totally unnecessary for me to have this account. I called and got someone pretty easily but had to tell the guy not once or twice, but five times to just cancel the account and spare me the hoops to jump through in order to do so. I've got the email saying it's canceled and have checked my account and now says that it will be closed officially on Sept 7th. So if I get billed again, I'll be back to update, but so far so good.

When I called to find out why they were billing me in the first place, I was informed that I now owed double the past due amount for the 3 months that accrued since that cycle closed. When I complained, they were kind enough to subtract 50% off, but of course, there were fees for processing the payment and another fee for closing the account. I cannot imagine it is so difficult to cancel an online service like this. First there is no way to cancel the service via their web portal. The only way is through phone call - they allow people to sign up online but don't give them a way to cancel online - what's the logic here? Second, it is not at all obvious how to cancel the service. The "close your account" link is located under the "helps" section and I had to use Google to find this link. Calling to cancel the service enters me into a long queue of waiting. If they cannot handle the load, then why not automate this type of request, by simply putting up a web interface? The customer representative who handles the cancel request is impatient. She tries to persuade me to stay on the service, which is obviously out of sincerity. They even asked me a "security" question I answered a year ago for me to cancel the service. Luckily, I still remember the answer, but I cannot imagine how this works for everyone.

Again, why don't they offer a web interface for cancel without going through all these unnecessary hurdles? I cannot see anything in the canceling process that cannot be automated by a computer. If the intent is to offer a personalized service which also helps gathering feedback, do so in a professional and sincere way. Keep customers by offering a great service rather than playing tricks to charge them as long as possible. Before making the call, I thought I might come back in the future, but now I'll never come back to use their service again.

Stamps.com is great in theory! But it does not meet expectation on how it works. Set up is time consuming, in both the initial use and regular usage. One must make numerous trips to the printer and back to the computer to get one stamp. You pay more per stamp as you must purchase their labels, as well as pay for their subscription to use the service (not even counting your ink and such). The scale is always off somehow, resulting in returned items which now double your cost to send, or is overcharging you. And if you make mistakes, you, of course, might choose to eat the loss because of the unwieldy return process. All the while, until they decide to refund your money or not, you are out that cost. Bad for the budget if you ask me. Just go to the USPS - they need our business anyway. Stamps.com is a computer online business, while the USPS consists of live people with jobs.

I asked to speak to a supervisor who told me that the credit card page states that this $15.99 is a monthly charge (which I certainly did not see) and that he could not make a refund because Stamps.com is a licensed vendor from the USPS and has to pay license fees to the USPS for each customer.

I pointed out that this is a service which might make sense for a commercial customer sending out 100 plus letters/packages a week, but not to a residential customer. He told me that they have a slightly cheaper rate for non-commercial users ($9.99/month), though he admitted that this was not advertised. When I complained that their marketing to non-commercial customers was fraudulent, he spoke to his "director" and offered to refund half of the charges placed on my credit card. When I said that I would proceed to report this fraud to the USPS, etc., he again spoke to his "director" and this time offered to refund three-quarters of the charges, saying this was a courtesy refund and that they refused to refund all the charges.

As I've read other complaints - I can't really add anything as I had the same experiences. Not only was I double billed and returned the two scales and the duplicate accounts within the required period - the account was not cancelled, nor did they have any record of the returned scales. Their attitude was they go to a different supplier, so I guess I could have kept them instead of spending my money to return them if no records are kept.

I had to speak with three people - customer service - supervisor - manager - before I got any kind of solution. Trust me I did not get a full refund. Being on a forced retirement for medical reasons, my budget is tight and having them charge me over $100 for services never used was a slap in the face. The service was never used that should have given some indication I had cancelled the service.

I did ask them how they would appreciate it if the tables were reversed and I claimed to give them some kind of service and they didn't want it, but I still made them pay for it.

As with many other that have filed complaints here, I too found using Stamps.com com decidedly a bit on the misleading path. It is very difficult to see the disclaimer regarding the monthly fee. I never did receive a welcome packet that apparently has some supplies that make more sense out of using the service. Either way I called to cancel my "paid subscription" and spent too much time with a customer service rep who, in the end would not return my 2 months of fees. They also cited that it was a "license" to use the service which I had not done at all. I was drawn into the ad by the free use and incorrectly supposed that they would make their money on the sale of postage and/or other products.

The service is not free. They do have a $9.99 service that is not listed that was offered to me but I chose not to keep the service based on the how they represented themselves and how poorly they dealt with customer issues in my case. Very frustrating. I’m dissatisfied with their program. I would recommend that unless this fits a unique need that you not engage their services. I believe you will find yourself disappointed as they are not too worried about bad press.

In the end, I had a good experience. Before calling Stamps.com this evening to cancel my account after going past the "trial period", I thought I would prepare by reading about the experience other users had while attempting to do the same. After reading just a few reviews, I prepared for the worst, took a deep breath, and made the call. After two unsuccessful attempts to follow the prompts on the automated phone system to connect with a rep to "cancel the account", I called back and chose the "open an account" option and was "miraculously" connected with a rep almost immediately. I then explained that I actually was calling to cancel my account and was politely rerouted to another rep.

After finally getting connected to a rep, I began as normal by requesting to cancel my account. “Sure I can help you with that,” the representative said cheerfully. When asked about my reason for canceling, I explained that I didn’t use the service enough to justify paying a monthly fee. Of course, the rep proceeded to follow each of my requests to simply cancel with the "canned" offers to lower the plan, free postage, etc. I continued to hold my ground and simply responded by stating "Thank you for the offer but I would just like to cancel altogether." But then, I also added that I would like to request that the $15.99 charge that had been already charged to my credit card be refunded. He of course said he could not do this (even though I had not used the service), because the charge was a "licensing fee that by law they had to charge".

At this point, I thanked him for his time and asked if I could speak with a supervisor. After explaining to the supervisor that the first rep did finally agree and to cancel my account, he stated that he was not able to do anything about refunding the charges that had already been made to my credit card. I politely explained my confusion regarding how long the trial period lasted and how I had not used the service. Therefore, I felt a refund of the $15.99 charge was a reasonable request. The supervisor at this point apologized for the confusion and stated that she would grant the refund.

Perhaps, I was just lucky enough to be connected with a supervisor that cared to listen to what I had to say or my calm, polite approach made a difference. All I know is that I was pleased with the outcome and manner in which the supervisor handled my request. I explained that I had read many negative reviews about how much of a hassle it was to cancel accounts and get issues resolved with Stamps.com. But that thankfully had not been my experience and that I would be writing a positive review. I guess the moral of the story is "be honest, don't ask for something unreasonable, always ask to speak with a supervisor, stay calm, and be polite". Good luck!

Similar to others, I'm a solo professional who relies heavily on email and FedEx. My USPS postage rarely exceeds $10 a month. However, I was curious about online postage and was tempted by the free trial to give it a look-see, assuming it was a function of the US Postal Service. It was too complicated from the git-go, so I returned the box to the post office as "refused." Then I noticed the monthly $16 charges on my credit card. I called stamps.com to complain.

They confirmed that I had never used their service, but defended the monthly "license fee" because I had not cancelled correctly. I said I felt scammed, paying a "license fee" for a service I never used, and that I'd be reporting it to public officials. A supervisor called me to discuss and said he could see my point of view but could do no more than refund 50%. I invited him to do that and more, though it wouldn't buy my silence. What they are doing is wrong? Call me naive, but I feel duped by the US Postal Service.

I wanted to cancel my account. I found out it's almost impossible to do so. This is the letter I wrote them today:

"In all my years of purchasing services online, I have never been so disappointed, and have never had to jump through so many hoops to cancel an account (I usually do not get so fed up to spend the time to write letters either.) I want you to cancel my account immediately. I have records of the emails that I’ve sent to you requesting this. I actually sent you a check on November 10, 2011 to pay off my balance, with a note requesting that you cancel my account immediately.

It is now December 3, and I just got another bill from you. I try to call you but your ridiculous phone system does not have after-hours options, and doesn’t even give callers the ability to leave a voicemail. I would actually love it if you dropped the charges altogethe as I have mentioned several times before to you through email (because your call center does not accommodate my schedule), I have a Mac, and cannot use the services I’m being charged for.

However, I suppose if you just took the $XX.XX that I supposedly owe you for not providing me with any utility at all, I would be fine with it as long as you stop sending me bills and didn’t contact me again. That would be worth it to me.

I started writing this letter by hand, but then decided to type it so that I can send copies to Consumer Affairs, and the Better Business Bureau. By the way, as you may have noticed I’m paying the USPS extra so that I have proof that you got my communication this time. The USPS should be ashamed to have partnered up to do business with you.

I am requesting for the last time for you to cancel my account immediately."

No complaint about the free trial period leading into a for-pay period. That was in the fine print. Fair's fair. However, the $40 free postage offer was a bit of a fraud. You're only allowed to redeem $10/month, which requires you to stay on for 3 months at $15.99/month. If you cancel in the trial period, you can only redeem $10 of free postage. There is no mention of this arrangement until after you sign up.

They also don't support all mail rates. For example, they don't offer First Class International Letter; so one might mistakenly think their cheapest option for holiday cards is First Class International Large Envelope. I ran into another similar missing lowest-rate class a few weeks back but forgot which rate was missing. Needless to say, if they benefit from selling more postage, then these are very shady gaps in service. I'm still using the service for pay. The 4 months of $10/month free postage makes it $5.99/month, effectively, so I might cancel at the end of the fourth month.

The two main complaints I see is the charge and customer service being hard to speak with over the phone. Well, I just want to say that I did accept the free trial and it also informed me of the fee after the trial period ended. I had to do some reading but it is actually listed. I am not understanding how people accept a free trial period and don't think to cancel after that period is up, whether you use the service or not. It is only common sense.

It doesn't cancel on it's own. I think it is unfair to rate and complain on a company because of lack of doing your part as far as reading the full description of the offer and failing to cancel your subscriptions. As far as the customer service and trying to cancel, that worries me. So, I will write back in the near future and let you all know how it goes for me.

However, you can only use $5 unless you continue the subscription, in which you have to use their service to print the stamp on the postcard to send it to them to get the other $15. And you can only do it over two months. This is a racket designed to get you in for several months. Their system does not always function properly and I had to wait two weeks for a system issue to have money deposited back into my account.

Then, when I went to cancel, they told me that I was one day past my trial period (which they say was not free). I had to ask for a supervisor who also tried to placate me until I said that I would file complaint and refute the $15.99 service charge for being 12 hours beyond the end of the trial period. Why should I have to pay $15.99 to cancel my account?

Glenn (the supervisor) told me that he closed my account after Kyle had told me he already closed it. Glenn was able to make an exception for the one day beyond the trial period and not have me charged the $15.99.

You need to be careful about the 4-week (not 30 days) trial period. This is a tactic that I am sure many folks get caught up in. It took major effort to get this account canceled. I cannot express how disappointed I am in Stamps.com right now. I just tried to cancel my account (which I was not able to do via email or online) and--after a long wait on hold--was told by their customer care team specialist (a.k.a. sales retention staff) that instead of cancelling my $17.99 account, I could downgrade to a new basic plan at just $9.95. I asked why I was not previously made aware of this option and why I could not find it on the Web. I was told by the agent that since "it was just adopted," the basic plan is not posted on their website yet.

Well, its very interesting to see blogs written well over two years ago that Stamps.com has had the basic plan ($9.95) in place for a long time and this is simply their "customer un-caring" way of customer retention. Furthermore, they also told me that if I wanted a credit on my postage account, I would have to wait 13 months to get a refund--putting the blame on the repayment cycle from USPS. Although the postage may have been paid to the USPS, it is complete horse hockey that they will not immediately refund my money if I cancel my account.

As a CFO of multiple companies, I can tell you that any non-government company has the ability to "hold in reserves" money for refunds and can and should refund immediately so as to not create the bad will that Stamps.com is creating for itself. Shame on Stamps.com's "customer un-care" strategy!

I found out today that I have been billed $17.99 per month and I signed up for a free trial in January 2009 and called to cancel my account before the trial was up, so I called this a.m. After being on hold 30 minutes 3 times, the lady said she saw I hadn't used it after the 1st day I signed up in January and yesterday, they charged my debit $17.99 again. I told her I had cancelled and demanded a refund to which she said, "We don't do that because there's no note or confirmation #," and I replied, "That's not my job, I don't work there." And she began getting ruder so I hung up. But this is ridiculous and no one should have to pay for what they didn't buy. My husband passed away and I barely make it now on a very fixed income!

This company has been debiting my credit card since 12/28/2005. I have a vision problem and had not been able to check my Visa statement. But this month, my daughter helped me and I discovered that Stamps.com had been billing me (up to and over a total of $700) for a product or service that I did not request. After checking on other websites, I have discovered that there are hundreds of people who have been scammed by this business. I still have dial up on my husband's computer because we do not have funds to pay for speed dial. I could have used the money robbed from me for that, or I could have given that $700 to charity and not to some sleazy scam artist who is probably out right this minute spending stolen money.

This website is a scam! I signed up for the 4-week free trial and tried repeatedly to download the software via their website. I got error message after error message and never got the software downloaded. I emailed their tech support via their website and received no reply, so I wrote them off. Needless to say, there is a nice $15.99 service charge that shows up on my credit card a month later. I got on the website, got a number to call a CS rep and was told that the $15.99 was just to use the service and doesn't include any postage or product. I explained that I couldn't get the software to download and install and had tried to contact them for tech support with no reply. She politely explained that it didn't matter if I've never used it or didn't have the software, they still charge. And, to cancel, I would have to pay another month's service charge before the service could be cancelled! Do not do business with these people!

Just wanting to order some stamps, I ended up on Stamps.com via the USPS site. I thought I was still on USPS, so I did supply my financial information. I did not order anything. I did not submit any request for an order and I did not authorize anything. When they sent a "welcome" package, I emailed them and told them that if I had accidentally joined their program, to please cancel it immediately. They did not respond, so I called them on 6-1-09, and informed them I wanted to cancel any connection with them. I was given a confirmation number. I thought it was taken care of. I was not told to call back again on June 11, 2009. Why would I think I had to cancel more than once? They charged my account for $19.99 on 6-13-09. I called them on 6-15-09 and asked them to return my money because I never authorized anything. They actually acknowledged my call to cancel, but claimed they told me to call back. They also admitted almost every customer calls to cancel, and they use that opportunity to trick people into thinking they've cancelled when they haven't. I think this is clearly theft. I also wrote the post office and told them I think they should reconsider their endorsement of Stamps.com.

Stamps.com has charged my credit card on May 16, 2009, without my authorization. Back in March (two months ago), I had responded to a postcard ad for a free trial for postage service, and only after being required to submit credit card information did I discover that the service is available only to PC users and not to Macintosh users. Computer requirements were not available on the website, and had I known that the service is not offered for Mac users, I would not have given my credit card information. I wrote two email messages to them to complain about this and told them I did not want to ever use their service and that I don't trust them with my credit card information. I never used the service and I had assumed, given my complaints and the fact that as a Mac user and couldn't use the service, that the service was immediately cancelled.

Now, two months later, I checked my bank account today (May 17) and discovered that my credit card had been charged on May 16 for $17.99. I did not authorize this charge. I have not used their service. I have read the reviews on the BBB website and found that many others have been scammed by Stamps.com in a similar way. I have also found many other websites detailing the fraudulent practices of this company. The BBB rating for this company should be an F!

Nowhere in their terms and conditions does it state that you have to call in order to cancel your membership. Therefore, it is ** when I go to your site which is where I sign up but yet I have to cancel differently. I will file a report with BBB on this organization.

It has saved me much time from having to drive to the post office as well as gas. Stamps.com is not for the person who occasionally mails a package. I sell some things on eBay, and it is a snap to print out the postage.

The scams and cons that are on the internet should have a pop up put on them by government consumer affairs that warn consumers. And it should be made legal by passing a law. If you like this idea remember to give credit where credit is due. Further....

Typically, as I have read others who have had problems with Stamps.com, however they are not the only scams and cons on the internet, I had the same problem with them. I am a 60 years old totally disabled widow who up till 2 years ago had a high 700 credit score. I have had millions of dollars of medical bills over the last twenty years and have paid all of them and kept my credit home and auto. However because of the internet and a simple ad I put on eBay, I had all kinds of scams that started zapping my checking account and I filed all the necessary legal reports but I was still out. I have a decent income but even the best can be brought down. It finally led to me having complete identity theft. Now I can't even use one of the Debt Counseling services as there are too many letters of scam about them. Looks like after living my whole life with integrity which is why I have always paid my bills, is that it says something about who I am as a person, and it looks like I will have no choice but to file bankruptcy and lose all that I have worked for at 60.

I signed up for the free 4-week trial of Stamps.com, but never used it because it was more of a hassle than just going to the USPS site. I was not aware that I would be automatically charged a $15.99 fee after the 4 weeks and when I saw the charges, I emailed customer service to explain that I didn't know I would be charged and that I had never used the account. They refused to reimburse the charges, so I replied back to close the account immediately.

Almost 2 months later, the $15.99 was again charged to my bank account. I emailed again that I had already closed the account 2 months prior and needed them to refund the charges. They replied by saying that the account had not been closed because accounts can't be closed by email - only by phone - something they failed to mention when I emailed to close the account. I then called and closed the account - that I had thought was already closed. I made this call 1 day after the $15.99 posted to my bank account.

The very next day another charge was posted to my bank account for $4.65. When I again emailed about this new charge that was made after the account was officially closed, I was again told that there is nothing I could do to get it reimbursed, without even getting a legitimate explanation as to why that extra charge was made. I was given some nonsense about billing cycles and partial charges, but it was only 1 day after the previous charge was billed, and it only took that long because it was after business hours when the charge showed up, I called the very next morning - I could not have incurred any partial charges in less than 1 day

But it was not worth the $15.99 per month fee and so I call to cancel my membership. The customer service told me that I am billed for 2 month fee $30 including the free trial. Why do I have to pay for a FREE trial? The reply I got is that when they send me a welcome email at the beginning, it included the terms for paying for the free trial after it ends and I continue to receive service. But the representative I spoke to prior to this fail to mention it when I ask her if I will only be billed for 1 month and she said yes. Now the customer service refuse to refund my money and I can't do anything about it. This is FALSE advertising, a FREE trial should be FREE and the representative should clearly tell me that I will be billed for the free trial when I ask her if I only pay for 1 month. I have called at all hours of the day and have never once gotten a hold of any living, speaking human being. I have not even used any of their services, unless you're counting their toll free 1-888 number. I've emailed their customer service and have not gotten any response.

What's more is I have done a google search on their company and found others who have had the same problems. One person specifically stated she had to threaten litigation and get a cease and desist order to stop them from trying to collect money from her. What annoys me is their internet site bears the USPS symbol, stating they have approval of the USPS. Currently, I have called my credit card company in order to put a stop on any of their charges.
