I just wanted to find my ex-wife's new address so I could send her a birthday present. But "free" doesn't mean "free," it seems. Fifteen minutes of looking into everything about my ex-wife's history, which was completely irrelevant, and finally, the bill. Just ninetyfive cents, but that is not free, and there was no need for this company to dig into every aspect of my ex-wife's past. These people are scammers.

Total scam, I paid for a 0.95$ payment and then they set up a monthly subscription for 30$ which I never agreed on and never KNEW of. Someone needs to shut down that website and sue them immediately, this has gotten out of control, all I see is bad reviews and I wish I saw them before purchasing anything on that website. They live off of scams, we can't let them get through with this.

I came on the this site to look someone criminal history and I went on to a page that was trying to charge $20 for an upgrade and I went to back out to the last page. The site charged me for the update that I didn't want and then they refused to give my money back even though I reached out right after I got charged. I also couldn't even get the information I was looking for because they couldn't even see the criminal history at all so I literally got charged for an upgrade without me wanting it to still not get what I needed. Please go to a different site because they will just take your money.

Unfortunately, there were no choices below 1 star. I have had similar experiences to many I've seen on Spokeo's customer review page. As with others I paid $.99 for an obscure contact address. The site says "7 day trial". What it neglected to say was if you don't contact them for some reason, on 12:01AM of the 8th day they charge you $29.99 for your "membership". That practice is on some pretty shaky ethical grounds. I mean really, how many people actually use Spokeo that much as to justify a Membership. Personally I think it's just a ripoff similar to many of the other "free" look up services. And good luck getting your money back! These snake oil salesmen should be exposed for what they are. Don't forget to tell all your friends.

It's a scam. You get next to nothing for your initial membership fee. Then they keep asking for more and more money just get the info you thought you were getting for your initial $19.95. And don't be surprised to see other charges for things you weren't aware you'd bought. Then they sign you up for a continuing membership without you requesting it, and when you see the charge to your credit card and complain, they won't refund your money. A scam from top to bottom.

Spokeo is a scam like and will take your money for 10 years plus. The auto subscriptions are what slay trap customers in purchasing unknowingly… their price points are not solid, and it’s not because their subs & price points update …

I tried logging into to my account with no luck, I even tried resetting my password but I can’t. I want to cancel my account and need help to do this. Can anyone please assist me?

No issues with their opt-out procedure. They have never reposted my profile.

SCAM!! They offer a "free trial" that is actually about a dollar. Then they charge you 29.95 and will only return 11$ even after never using it again! Stay away!!

Spoken is nothing but a scam, a con! They claim to give a free trial, you put in your information and then they try to charge you before you get the information you ask for. This is a bait and switch. This is NOT LEGAL!

If you use them beware that they don't cancel your subscription. When you cancel it they charge you $29.95 even after you cancel and then give you $11 as a refund and the information they gave me was 100% incorrect. Very unhappy. Very unsatisfied. It's a scam.

I purchased a 1 time service for $.95 and they charged me for a subscription without my authorization. Hate when these vendors do this. Scam!!!

I paid 95 cents for a one time use. They set me up for 25 dollar subscription without my authorization. Thankfully my bank declined it because they are on a scam list and it has happened a lot. Check your balance after using.

They got back to me and explained they'd cancelled the subscription and even refunded the trial.

EXTREMELY DECEPTIVE BILLING PRACTICES. They over-charged me $200 and would have kept going if I hadn't caught on! It began when I ordered 1 report for $1, and a 7 day free trial. I never used the service again, and they never prompted me that I would be billed or was being billed. Instead, they began secretly charging me $29.95/month for a "7 Day Trial" without ANY notification EVER.

Misleading scam. Asked for $0.95 on the website with no further explanation. Seven days later I was charged 29.99 for a "seven day free trial" without my knowledge or consent. I just wanted to know if a friend with was doing OK. After looking at the information for a few minutes I got the Impression that she probably didn't want to be contacted and let it go. I had no idea I would pay $30 until after my money was gone. I called and wad told I would get a refund in 7 to 10 working days. But it wasn't in writing so I got screwed.

Extremely deceptive in their pricing for services. The pricing is confusing with unexpected charges and a lack of transparency regarding additional fees. They advertised a 95 cents search but don’t make it clear I would be charged $29.95 monthly. It’s a bait and switch scheme.

SPOKEO. This company has been charging me 29.95 a month for three years without my knowledge or permission... The site offers you 3 months for 14.95. After years on this site, they started charging me 29.95 monthly. I did not realize this until yesterday, which was my fault. This company should be shut down, and they should reimburse everyone they did the same to. If you look, there are hundreds of people they embezzled. It seems to be a regular practice with them! Just look at reviews everywhere. The owner belongs behind bars!!

Prev cust. Offered $9.95 for 3 mo. Paid, suddenly that price per month. Only internal email, no record for me. Forever phone wait. Sent email cancel after 3 mo. Found out put on auto pay. Next day got Outlook email canceling now. I already paid for these 3 months. No refund.

I did one search a year and a half ago. I did not realize the trial would renew itself every month without a single receipt or correspondence from them about my account. I consider this to be theft. BUYER BEWARE!!!
