Signed up for a one time fee to find out information about an entity on the internet. Not even sure that information was accurate. Was positive I paid for a one time fee. Notified a week later about a $29.95 charge to my account from Spokeo. After research, found out this was a common practice from Spokeo and in many situations, even though customers had changed their credit cards, Spokeo had managed to find and charge their new credit card to continue a subscription fee the customer thought they had cancelled.

Unless one has an hour to waste while Spokeo tracks down unnecessary information, not requested but forced upon the Consumer, time wasted while site portends searching for useful but useless information, unless one has unlimited funds and can burn money chasing shadows of nonexistent companies, it's a total waste of time. Typical users are required to provide personal data which ends up in a system of Data Collection then resold to other data collectors, while charging the unsuspecting customer monthly fees for unregulated services which provide undesirable results.

I was doing background checks and everyone including myself had no recent information. And about 75% of what I found was totally wrong. My parents had moved once in 40 years and Spokeo information said they moved 4 times and cities they were never have lived in.

Have a number repeatedly calling at all hours with no message being left? Try looking it up. Don’t use Spokeo if you are looking for anything more than “yes this is a phone number”. They will charge you .95 to get “basic” but not the business name info. Because you pay more for that - but somewhere in there they sneak in a full membership even though you said said no, and paid for a single transaction. No they won’t refund you. Because it must be how they make the money. Awful.

I used this service having a decent amount of certainty on the person's phone number but wanted to check. The report was lacking at best. I am pretty sure I cancelled my subscription, but was charged $24.95. I promptly call them back to ask for a refund but was told only $9 could be refunded. What business only gives minimal refunds to prospective customers based off a trial service. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this service to anyone. Hopefully they change their business practices.

I've been looking for more info on someone online a while ago, and I only had their email address. Spokeo seemed to have been one of the main places to reverse-search email addresses, so I gave it a try. However, off the bat I was pretty suspicious, as it demanded I sign up for a free trial and pay for the report, so I held it off until I decided I needed to obtain more info at all costs.

Spokeo offered a .95 one time search, I paid with Paypal, but Spokeo made two unauthorized 24.95 charges to my credit card. I did not sign up for this or use their service after the original .95 cent search. I cancelled the automatic payments through Paypal and called Spokeo, but they would not refund the unauthorized charges.

I purchased a $.95 trial membership to check on a single phone number. Three months later I discovered I've been charged 3X at $24.95 each month for a subscription I did not sign up for. There was no confirmation email or notification that I had been charged each month. In looking back at the original email from them, I now see the auto-subscription notice on page 4! I have contacted them for a refund and IF they correct the billing, I'll be back to update this review. So far, my experience should be a warning to others to stay away.

The service we used in November 2021 worked well; however, we were subscribed to their monthly subscription without permission and we did not notice until we had been charged well over $300. They immediately refunded $29 when we called them out, but only after they had charged us for 12 months of service we never used.

A few months ago I wanted to know the address of someone and went to Spokeo; they look it up for free and are out front about your subscribing to a service and you can look up so many people and so on and that it will cost such and such and that you have to cancel your subscription if you do not want your credit card to be charged and they do not forget to charge it monthly if you do not cancel - whether you use it or not.
