I purchased and then cancelled a My Life subscription quite sometime ago. Darby and Rachel at the 888 number told me that the MVQ charges ($554.75) taken from my checking account were for a 'membership' that I never asked for. They got my debit card number from My Life. Yesterday, when I mentioned the state Attorney General, I was transferred to a supervisor. They said that they would refund about $50, then I got them up to $100. But Shawron--the supervisor I was given--told me that she would have to 'review' the account and let me know by Friday, Sept 23rd, if they will refund the rest to my bank account. By Friday, I will have the complaint form from the Attorney General's office filled out and ready to mail.

I've been spammed many times by this company for months. They keep sending these emails saying "People are looking for you!". The other night I heard an advertisement on the radio for this company. I began wondering if all those spam emails were maybe from a legit company with people really looking for me. I went to the website to check things out. I typed in my first and last name and the state I live in. I was shocked to see that they have my birthday, full street address, my parents' names, and my phone number! What the hell is going on? Who are these people?

The thing says they have 37 people looking for me. They want my money. So I come here to Consumer Affairs and see all of you poor people who were scammed. Yikes! What a mess!

I have been a member of MyLife.com on and off for about a year and a half. Periodically, I will receive emails from them telling me that a 42-year old man from Chicago is looking for me. He is my on-again, off-again boyfriend. So I once, in March 2010, clicked on his name, thinking he was searching for me. There wasn't much info so I just chalked it up to maybe he was thinking of me and wanted to see what I was doing.

Since I looked at my ex-boyfriend's profile over a year and a half ago, he still gets emails telling him that I am looking for him. As in the present tense! It doesn't tell him when I really viewed his profile. So he is beginning to feel stalked. This is terrible. MyLife is using people to get more customers by piquing their curiosity, thinking all these people are searching for this, when they may have actually looked at their profile years ago! Or maybe even not at all. It is causing all kinds of problems in my relationship and I can't believe there is nothing I can do to stop them. My ex-boyfriend doesn't believe me, that I'm not actually viewing his profile when he gets that email. I'm so angry at MyLife.com

I signed up for one month with 'no' reoccurring charges. Fat chance! Another $18.95 was charged for the second month. I called My Life to get a refund, and I was told that all accounts are reoccurring, even when you sign for one month! I asked to speak to a supervisor and was put on hold for over 20 minutes.

Then, I called my credit card company to dispute the charge and have them blocked from my Visa. That's probably what I should have done from the beginning so that my blood pressure stays normal. Long story short, beware. Everyone will be billed continually, no matter what you sign up for, until you catch it!

Over a year ago, I purchased a 1 month trial membership and requested a search for a lost cousin. No results were received. Now, I just received an email saying that this person had been found but that I would have to renew my membership to obtain details. On of the deals offered was a free 1-year membership (value $119.40) if I made a purchase of goods or services from one of their affiliates. I therefore ordered $40 worth of printer ink but my credit card was rejected. I tried 3 times to place the ink order but each time my card was rejected. I had used the card earlier that day, so I knew it was okay.

I next received an email thanking me for purchasing a 1 year membership renewal using another card that I had given them for the trail membership over a year ago. I immediately tried to call their 800 number but it went unanswered. No email contact was provided. I next tried to deny payment with my bank, but my account had already been charged as a debit card.

I signed up for MyLife.Com because I was told that it was a free site. I was searching for my friend's mother who has been missing for more than 10 years. After I signed up (free) in order to see who wanted to contact me or in order to send messages, it said that I had to pay for this service - $12.95 for a month. I decided I could afford that after looking at my bank, and I said that I would call back at the end of the month and cancel the service.

After I paid the $12.95 as a onetime fee for one month, I received an email that said I paid $107.00 for an annual subscription. This is not what I agreed to pay. I read everything closely when I buy things online, and I know this is not the option I chose. I called customer service right away, and spoke to "Kristen". I explained to her what happened. She said that they would credit my account for $94.50 and only charge me for the $12.95 and they would also "unselect" the auto renewal feature. They said it could take 7-10 days to get my money back.

I am a single mother of 3 kids, and I live week to week. I would have never even tried this site out if I knew it was going to steal my money the way it did. Now, I am facing over draft charges as my car payment is deducted from my account tomorrow, and I am short now. This is totally not fair to consumers and I am going to do what I have to do to try to help get this website shut down.

Even after I paid the subscription service, the site seems pointless. When you search for someone, they say that they need the approximate age and first and last name of the person, and when you enter it from that point forward, MyLife creates the person's profile as of that day and make it seem as if the profile has been there, even though you created it. Ridiculous! Even after I paid the "$12.95", even though it was really "$107.00", it then took me to another option to pay more!

This website is a scam, and I hope and pray that everyone reads this before they get suckered like I did. I have yet to get my money back, and I am going to dispute it with my bank if I don't get my money back in the next 24 hours.

Jeffery Tinsley, you should be ashamed of yourself. This is not over. I will be going to the media next as well as the BBB and consumer reports.

I opened an account to try and find a friend, and my card did not pass the first time, which brought to my awareness that the deal price for the year of $11.95 was by the week. So I took one week membership and paid for it with credit card. When I got in to look for my friend, I got slammed with other businesses that wanted more information than I wanted to give as a member. I never could get in touch with my friend, so I decided that it was a scam, and they had their money so I decided to cancel my account. Surprise! I cannot cancel online or by phone and they have my credit card number. So I went to BBB and I was not able to find any registry. I recommend new and old customers to beware and cancel your credit cards that you used to this fraudulent business and we should start a class action suit as soon as possible.

Through the online site mylife.com, I was billed unauthorized charges for two months. Also, my bank card information was billed unauthorized charges for a subsidiary company known as savingsace.com for three months. When contacting these "companies" I am never given a phone contact for the corporate office and am told the parent company is called "Alta Resources," supposedly located at the address in this form.

Unable to find any further contact information, I called the Santa Monica police department and was told the address was a post office box. The detective then advised I report this fraud and theft to your agency, as he has had to tell many others the same thing.

As a result of these unauthorized charges, I had four overdrafts occur in my bank account at a fee of 27.50 each. The total of unauthorized charges between these two "companies" was $123.75. This makes my total financial losses regarding scam $233.75 and the personal loss and inconvenience of having to shut down my bank cards, take time from my schedule to conference with my bank on this matter, and a significant argument between myself and my husband.

This company, when called, will speak as though we are in a mutual business relationship, although I have made clear that we are not in a business relationship, we are in a thief/victim relationship. They are still refusing to reimburse overdraft fees caused by their unauthorized charges and refusing to return the rest of my money to me.

The site was not what I expected and now see that there are hidden charges in the "Fine Print". I asked to not be charged after the first month and wished to cancel. 2 days later, I attempted to access the remaining "Paid" days on the account due to an email from them and found myself being billed $191.00+ in an attempt to sign in when I clicked on "Full Access", which I was told I had for the remainder of my agreement: until 10/10/2010.

They kept my credit card information and billed me, despite my calling on 9/10 within 1/2 hour of joining to say I wanted to not be billed anymore. This man "Robert" first said he'd reduce it to 3 months service and then one month after reminding him again that I didn't authorize any charge and that doing so would cause the account to be overdrawn. He refused to put a manager on the phone and then came back on the line to say he'd refund the full amount. Since I had doubts, I had a conference call with American Express and My Life.com making it clear I hadn't authorized, or agreed to a charge, nor did I want anything more to do with them. I asked all my information be deleted from their company records and made it clear I hadn't agreed to anything.

Clicking on "Get Full Access" caused the charge of $190.00+ to my charge card. I fail to see where one could deem that an approval to charge for a one year membership. The fact that they have commercials on most cable channels is disturbing that these companies still choose to do business with My Life.com and will take it up with my lawmaker and others. This "Company" is a fraud and thief of consumers charge cards with unauthorized billing. The last person at My Life.com got rude and said I didn't read the Agreement during the conference call with American Express. This isn't a company, it's a scam!

This company entices buyers by claiming that 'someone' is searching for them and having buyers pay to find out who. The 'someone' in question is a made-up individual. I was searching online for a friend with whom I'd like to get back in touch. The MyLife.com results were at the top of the page, so I clicked on it. I had to register (for 'free') to see the results. I used a very very old zip code instead of my real one.

ML stated that someone was searching for me in that zip code, and that I'd have to pay to see the results. I don't mind paying for this service and have done so on legitimate sites without any concerns in the past. This time, however, the name that came up was 'Grovia **' and **'s only connection on the site was the company CEO. This sound made-up to me, but just to be sure I checked my own profile to see if ML's CEO is like MySpace's Tom - he's everyone's first connection, nope. So I logged out and entered the same search with a new 'free' registration where everything was the same except the zip code. After paying for that subscription (just to see what happened), it turned out that Grovia ** also lived in that town and was looking for me. It's obvious that the 'person' who is 'searching' for you is just a computer-generated entity which plugs in whatever zip code you're using at the time.

After canceling both subscriptions and looking at various chat and complaint boards, it seems this company has moved from shady dealings to outright fraud. I've contacted the BBB and will also be contacting the FBI's Fraud Division, but thought I'd leave a note here reminding people to be wary.

So far, I'm only out $9.95 - but it looks like this company keeps billing and billing, so we'll see. Mainly I'm just ticked off about the outright lying. There are better ways to attract business, but they've obviously decided to walk down the shady side of the street.

I gave my credit card number, but the final page had a charge of $5.98. I could not get out of the extra charge at that point.

Then I read that after using the service just one time, I would be charged $18.95. On top of that, they could not furnish me with the information I was looking for in the first place. To say it is a scam is putting it mildly. I used their phone agent to resolve the issue. After speaking with two different agents, they promised to refund my credit card. I will not know if they are telling the truth for about two weeks. Needless to say, I am worried there will be additional charges to my credit card in the weeks to come.

I was searching around and came across this website and I noticed they had information on my 15-year old daughter posted. I promptly called them but I know how this information selling sites work so I *67 before so they wouldn’t get my cell phone number. I spoke to a guy there and explained that they had information on my child and that I wanted it removed right away. The guy was helpful and said he would get it done immediately. And I thought that we were all finished. About five hours later after I called them, I noticed two missed calls from a friend. Puzzled why she hadn’t left a message (she always does), I called her back thinking something was wrong and that was when she said someone hijacked my phone. Obviously, I thought she was kidding until she told me that when she called that she heard my ring back and then when it would normally go to voicemail that it directed it off to MyLife.com's phone service.

Well not completely convinced, I called it myself and she was right. I was shocked. I had my husband call my cell and it did the same thing. It would do about 30 seconds of my ring back and then off to their answering system where you could hear the information of MyLife.com and ask if you were a member and try to enlist you to sign up. I was completely in shock. My husband spoke to a representative there and asked how it was that they were interrupting my cell phone calls and they insisted that they do not conduct business like that. My husband asked them to stop it and they got rude and hung up on him. Confused and quite upset, he called Verizon and spoke to them there who verified that it was in fact going over to the MyLife.com answering system. He even called and verified it himself. They checked to make sure I hadn’t accidentally forwarded it off and to even his confusion, it did not show that I had accidentally done anything.

After getting a supervisor and tech support involved, they were able to unlink my phone so it was no longer going over to MyLife.com's answering system. But how scary is this that companies can do that and try to be sneaky and direct all of your incoming calls directly to them in order to sell a product. Let this be a warning to anyone wishing to call this company that trying to block your number doesn’t work. Be smart and use a payphone.

A couple of weeks ago, we received an invitation from "the stalker" to join myLife. I guess she still had an email address somehow attached to the mySpace account in her address book. This alerted us to her new email address. From there, we found out that she's at it again. She had (has) our family (wedding, children, trips, pets) posted on at least 3 different sites. Most have cooperated in removing our private family photos, but not myLife/reunion. They won't even acknowledge our complaint until, you guessed it, we became a "premium member". What a scam! Our next move? We'll have to take this to the Feds. Yep, this site is definitely a big scam. I hope they get shut down soon.

I was invited to look at my friend's son's site on MyLife. When doing so, they emailed everyone in my contacts list and invited them to MyLife saying I sent it. This was dirty dealing to say the least. My contacts list is my personal list and is not available to anyone. I feel violated. I have had to contact all the people I can to tell them this is a dirty company and to ignore the email they sent.

His name is Jeffrey Tinsley (11-28-1973) from Los Angeles, California. He is the CEO of mylife.com (formerly reunion.com). My complaint is about mylife.com and CEO Jeffrey Tinsley. When I signed up for reunion.com, this man went into my email inbox and sent out emails to all my contacts and people on my address book, including one where he asks them to sign up for reunion.com as though I was referring them. I tried closing the account, and I couldn’t. But the site is now called mylife.com, and he has imported all my contacts to this site and created a fake account for me with a username and password that he created himself and has also put himself as my contact on my contact list. He has made it public as well. I was completely unaware of this until I googled my username. He has invaded my privacy. Just imagine a complete stranger who has without your permission accessed your email inbox.

I received an invite from a friend to join Mylife.com. After reading the bad reviews on the site, I decided not to continue. But I found out two days later that Mylife.com had grabbed e-mail addresses from my address book and started sending out invites to everyone in my address book. This site is acting like a virus. I have had to notify everyone I know that the invite is bogus and was not sent from me. They in turn have had to contact everyone they know to see if they received invites by going to the site because they thought the invite came from me.

They had been bugging me for years to sign up and once I did, I was able to get on their site for the $36. This was supposed to be for 3 months. I can't log on. These people are ripoffs. How the heck can you contact these people? There is no contact link.

They had an offer for a month for 1 dollar. I went and used my Visa for 1 dollar and then got my bill from Visa, and they have been charging me $9.95 for a month then $8.95 the next month. They were getting ready to charge me another $9.95, so I called MyLife/Reunion and asked them what the charges were for, and she said, "For your monthly charges." I told her, "No, I only paid for 1 month." She said, "We don't do one-months," and proceeded to scream at me, and told me that it was too late, there was nothing I could do about it. Now, is this true?

I signed up for 3 months premium service at $36. I looked up one address then when I tried to look up a second, they were going to charge me for it! Four or five dollars! That's why I paid the first $36. They said you can get one name per day, then you will be charged for additional names. This is definitely a ripoff. Should have checked it out first. I hope they don't have info on all the names in my files, as a previous complainer stated.

I signed up for their free service. They went into my contacts' list and have been constantly spamming everyone in it without my permission! All my friends, co-workers, people I haven't talked to in ages, professional contacts - it was so embarrassing. I can't believe they have the nerve to do this. It was wrong in so many levels and now have all those information. I immediately cancelled my account and will never have anything to do with them again.
