Friday I received an email from MyLife that someone had done a personal review of me on MyLife. So I opened the site and found that Jeff Tinsley the CEO of MyLife had created a Personal Review of me with a rating of 7.5 on MyLife. I assume he did this to introduce his new feature. Where strangers ( I do not know and have never met Jeff Tinsley) can score you a personal rating on the MyLife Site. I then sent them an email regarding this. This is a form of fraud and another violation of Constitutional Rights. In addition, the MyLife site pretends to be interested in protecting your online identity, instead they publish it then tell you about it and then tell you they can help you erase it by subscribing to their site. This is a form of Technological Blackmail. Whatever you do, do not subscribe to this site. In fact join me in filing a Class Action Suit against this company.

Also, even if you have not registered for their site they will constantly barrage you with SPAM telling you that your identity is threatened and then try to get you to subscribe. DO NOT GIVE THIS COMPANY ANY MORE POWER TO ABUSE PEOPLE!!!!

The page says that only I have a power to make changes to the page. And I'm not even signed up to the website, I don't wish to sign up at MyLife. I do not remember signing up with MyLife.com, but I am constantly receiving e-mails from them saying that my information is at risk. For the most part I have ignored it, but my daughter, who is having problems with a cyber-stalking ex boyfriend received such a message and checked out her name. It turns out the stalker has created two accounts in her name and proceeded to defame her in the worst manner. She cannot access these accounts, and the only way to purge them, it seems is to pay the fees requested, which she will not do. The ex has been issued an Order of Protection and there is a warrant out for his arrest. However, it is wrong that someone can merely create a profile in someone else's name and blaspheme them from that same account. I will not be paying any fees to this company... thanks to the reviews I've read.

I had signed up for their "8 day free trial followed by 30 days for $8.95" promotion. Well, I got 8 days free alright... followed by a $95.40 bill for a year!! When I contacted them about this, the billing department was a foreign national who did NOT understand English. It took 15 minutes for them to get my email spelled correctly and another 10 for them to correctly spell my name. Then took almost 30 minutes to get my correct mailing address... even after I spelled it phonetically for them multiple times. "D as in Dog, R as in Roger... No, D as in Dog, not C as in Cat".

I was then informed that the $8.95 was included in the first year billing, which took effect automatically when the free 8 day trial ended. I asked why I was being billed for a year, when I was still within the first 30 days of the introductory offer period. They said it was standard policy and that they only bill in one year increments. I then asked to have my account cancelled and to be refunded the one year subscription charge, since I was still within the 30 day promo period. They refused and said they were unable to do that, they had no authority to give refunds. I asked to be put into contact with the person who could give me a refund, and was told that I would have to call back during the week, during standard business hours. I asked them for a specific person I could speak to, and they were unable to tell me, just that "I needed to speak to somebody else".

I then called back at 9am Pacific time (per their website for their business hours). I went thru their phone tree, and then sat for over a hour on hold. When the line was finally answered, it was the same thing all over again: they didn't speak English, they couldn't understand how to spell my email address, name, mailing address, etc. And I was given the exact same answers as to why they billed me for a year, and that they had no way to give refunds, and I would have to call back and speak to somebody else. This went on for over two weeks.

I disputed the credit card charge. I received an email telling me that I would not be given a refund, as my 30 day introductory period was over. I replied that I would be seeking legal assistance, since I had tried to cancel my membership while I was still in my 30 intro period and they were unable to, due to them making it impossible for their people to do it, and telling me to "call back during standard business hours". They have offered thru my credit card company to reduce the charge to $60, but have stated they will not be giving a full refund.

Hello, I have been signed up with MyLife.com on a free account for over a year, and it has been the best and the worst thing I have ever done. The worst is, what a terrible company, and the best is, I'm so very grateful I did not give out my credit card info and pay them money. For over a year I have been receiving emails from MyLife.com warning me that my info was at stake, and that numerous people were always looking for me and doing Internet searches for me. For over a year now I have actually been fooled into thinking that I was being tracked down by who knows who, and that they probably know where I live and everything else about me, UNLESS I pay MyLife.com a fee to remove all my so called loose info floating around the Web.

It wasn't until just now after receiving another email from them (the 17th in less than a month) and once again going to their website and attempting to find out who's looking for me that I happened across this Consumer Affairs site and the long list of complaints about MyLife.com that I realized no one is now or has ever been looking for me, and no one is looking for any of you either. They are attempting to scare us into paying them money to hiding info that is not out there to begin with and anyone can Google someone and maybe find them or not depending on what if any social accounts and such a person may have. So they are committing fraud by misrepresenting that they will protect you from a threat that does exist, by making up the threat and then by fear antics attempting to profit from it. The only ones we need protection from is MyLife.com.

Surely this is not legal and as many complaints that there are against this company, I would hope that someone takes notice and protects us people from this type of Internet fraud and misrepresentation by a company. I JUST WANTED TO ADD, I WENT TO MY EMAILS - I HAVE RECEIVED 56 EMAILS FROM MYLIFE.COM SINCE. JANUARY 21, 2015 (56 emails in 76 days). I would like to add that when you get an email from Mylife.com they use scare tactics and tell you 8 people are searching for you and there was an insurance breach and your private info is exposed on 50+sites - REMOVE NOW!!

BUT when you go to your account on their website they lure you in by giving you a few names and strongly hint of the urgency of the need to remove your online info. But when you click on the remove now buttons, guess what up pops - the MONEY SCREEN showing the cost of their various plans to save us from harm and potentially financial ruin and maybe worse by asking us "are they stalkers? Who are they, the 7 men and 3 women looking for you?!" I'm going to be honest. If I wasn't on disability and had extra money I would have signed up on a plan long ago.

Please do not sign up with this company. They are taking a very real threat and using it to scare you by making up threats directed straight at you and then charging a fee to supposedly remove it and make you safe. Thank you Consumer Affairs and thank you to all who posted about this company. I have included only a few of there emails and I couldn't screen shot the entire email but I think you'll get the picture. By applying common sense and some healthy Internet security, we should be just fine.

NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO DO THIS. I probably could have run it as a bluff, since I'm Board-Certified in five or six sub-specialties, including Forensics. First rep lied through her teeth. Yes, could have obtained a Federal Court Order overnight. But only because I'm related to whom I'm related to and I treated some of these jurists' kids. I discovered I had been charged $95.40 from MyLife today. All I've ever done was look at the site and filled out their required information to do so. So I called the 888 number and spoke to **. Poor English and probably not here in the U.S. After listening to her for a few minutes and understanding about 1/3 of what she was saying, I stopped her and demanded the charge be reversed. She continued, telling me that I could cancel after the year is over and there would be no further charges. Not acceptable. I finally had to ask her to listen carefully to me for a moment and once again demanded that the charge be reversed. ** then said she would place me on hold and asked me to 'hold on'.

Only a few moments passed when she came back on, saying that she could modify my charge, stop any further renewal (which I never had before!) and charge for only a month, then reimburse me for $79.45. I asked her why I would want a month of service when I didn't want it at all! ** said that was all she could do. So after NOT authorizing a charge with MyLife, they keep $15.05 for something I don't want. Absurd. DO NOT deal with MyLife unless you want them to control your money. I am NOT an attorney. I'm a psychiatrist with a PhD and MD from Harvard. I'm board-certified in General Psych, Child & Adolescent, Forensic (an Expert Witness in several areas) and Psychosomatic Psychiatry. One of my favorite patients came in REALLY pissed at being scammed by these crooks. She's a nice lady, very affluent (she'd have to be, since I charge my private patients $400/session and I'm actually THAT good) and started donating to a clinic for LGBT kids when I mentioned I was donating 10 hours of my $400/session time. Sometimes it's OK for patients to become friends; my family knows hers and I'm not treating her for anything where that relationship would mess up either therapy or influence my prescribing habits. She knows my sister is an Executive US Attorney and married to the current AG of our state. She also knows that I've testified in a number of serious Sex Crime cases and my rep is pretty impressive.

I said I'd look into it and I did. As I realized the scam, I started changing my personal information, wildly removing family members as contacts, changing my degrees to an MSJ and PhD in Journalism and Mass Comm. I changed my address of 10 years ago, etc., etc. Then I looked up how to CANCEL the account. I wrote MyScam.com and BCC'd the letter to the Exec US Attorney, the AG of my State, and an AD of the FBI my sister directed me to, since these criminals are committing FEDERAL crimes, beginning with WIRE FRAUD. Enough feds and jurists respect me and like and respect my sister and brother even more.

The US Attorney's Office will impanel a Grand Jury for sure and the IRS and FTC investigators will be right behind them. I don't FULLY understand the RICO statutes, but I believe my sis (who has an MLS and - with her team - has obtained a couple of RICO convictions and no successful appeals or reversals) that there probably IS a RICO case here waiting to be prosecuted.

These people are the worst. I got some notice that someone had reviewed my "profile." (I never remember setting up any kind of profile w/ this organization or website). When I opened it to see what was up, lo and behold, one of the people that it claimed was "interested" was my late husband!! Mistake? I don't think so! They just use databases and lists that are at least 7-8 yrs. old. You see, the name was not a common one, and the town we lived in was pretty small and I am still in touch w/ the people there. I would know if someone new was there w/ the same name.

I was absolutely livid. I wish I knew who to contact to expose this but I don't know who. This is blatant use of outdated lists and, just by coincidence, it came back to me. I would NEVER trust any of these organizations like this again.

But it is so sad that the internet servers allow these types of scare tactics to defraud their users. I can imagine how the older generations, that are already worried by all these new fangled gadgets stealing their identity, are immediately jumping at the fraudulent promise to reclaim exposed personal information by Mylife. These thieves are literally taking food out of our older, fixed income peoples mouths. I wonder if we could go to Mylife.com's site then report them as an unsafe web site. This is not explained upfront and should be so you can make an informed decision as to whether or not you want to give Mylife.com your current personal information, meaning your address. There is no obvious option to cancel the privacy subscription but if you pick the option to deactivate your Mylife account, they give you that option, then present you with an ad with the dire warning your privacy info is still out there. So then close out the ridiculous ad that tries to instill fear in you, and you get the message to continue to cancel your account (like, how long does that take?) you get to call them, obviously so they can continue the high pressure sales tactics using the fear factor as a tool. I too was scammed by these crooks. What I don't get is how are they able to do this to so many people for such a long time. Anyway, they took over 300 dollars from me on three different charges! I only recall signing up for the service of "who is searching for me", as I have lived all over the country and have lost contact with many friends over the years. I never asked for any other service. They said I "clicked" the buttons for the info thereby joining the other services!!

They first e-mailed me with Info of people searching for me in areas that I have lived. Anyway, I figured I would try to get back as much money as possible once I realized this happened. I called, they told me the same thing; they would give me half the money, confirmation Number, blah blah blah. So in three to five days, I should at least get half the money back. Then I figure I would do all the registered complaints things and see if I can join the class action suit.

I did mention to them I knew they were all over the internet and had the class suit, but they never would give me more than half refund. I think they are happy if they could get the average $100 from each person. I do suggest that you call them for the half refund and deal legally with them later, since they have so many people after them. Kudos to anyone that was able to squeeze a full refund out of them, it is hard to believe.

Normally, I would not have fallen for such a scam but it was late at night, I was vulnerable to the conditions. This is what they prey on. I should have suspected it when it didn't have an "agreed" button to scroll down to after info entered. I count it also as a costly lesson. People are taken for a lot more and I still feel violated, but it will never happen again!

When I spoke with the guy that took care of me at Mylife, I asked him how he could work for such a company. He didn't know what to say and tried to convince me and perhaps himself that there was nothing wrong with it. Before hanging up, I said to him that he sounded like a nice guy and he should really take a hard look at what he was doing for a paycheck, maybe look for other employment. He said thank you in a polite matter and that he may very well do that.

Raping people of their hard earned money and faith in mankind to me is no kind of a career choice. The CEO of the company is the Devil, however, and will one day get his coming ups! P.S. I was wondering if we should start a petition on that White House site. The site where people get petitions started to make laws against unholy happens as this one. Any thoughts? I am sure we can get enough signatures and if not it will get us way more exposure putting a bigger hurt on these people.

When I asked if I "didn't cancel" then how come it won't let me log in, I got a bunch of ums.... So I can't get into my account, yet I didn't cancel it and they continued to take the $24.95 a month out of my account. I have read on ABC this site is a SCAM and other bad reviews. I only wish I followed more closely what they were doing. My fault I know but they wanted to hear nothing. I asked for a supervisor and she wouldn't get on. I have no idea where they got this erroneous information, or why my name appears on their website in the first place. It doesn't and shouldn't matter, but it has now caused me to embark on a series of red tape with attempting to obtain birth and death certificates. This has been a waste of time and energy that should be spent on moving forward rather than dwelling on the past. Life is a series of tests. I clearly failed this one since I already knew this was simply a false statement. The end result is that I am now closer to my faith in God and a belief that true evil does exist in this world. Aside from mundane bottom-feeding, this website has nothing of value to offer in my opinion. As for the description of "angry" for the one star, that's not accurate. Anger has nothing to do with it. I admit I Googled an ex just out of curiosity (who doesn't?) and the first thing that popped up was the mylife profile, so I clicked on it just to read what it said. Well, later on when I went to my own mylife profile, I saw that it lists Google searches so anyone that Googled you shows up on your mylife profile stats (even if they didn't search for you within the mylife database under Who's Searching for You, it’s also if you just do a Google search)! Not only does it say when you were Googled, it says from WHERE. This is a major invasion of privacy because had I known this, I would not have Googled him and definitely not have clicked on his profile. Even though it doesn't say my name, the fact that he can see what city the "searcher" Googled from will make it very easy for him to know it was me since he does not know anybody else in my small town. This is total BS that they do this without you even knowing and I would think is a major privacy violation. So now you can't even privately Google anyone! This is going to cause major problems for me.

MyLife's entry pages are built to entrap. Not comfortable, I opened up my account profile to double check. Within minutes of signing up, there was no itemized disclosure of what I had signed up for or an option to cancel any or all of the subscription. Most questions/concerns and problems require phoning MyLife, which I did 10 minutes after the uncomfortable sign in. I was told by a very fast talking sales rep, "Sorry, there is nothing you can do about it" after informing me that my credit card had been billed a $96 charge I did not knowingly or deliberately sign up for, as well as the three month charge of $36.

Worse, if you don't firmly talk (it's an argument) to a sales rep, you will be automatically recharged for those services when they expire! He was reluctant to clarify that! I signed up with MyLife less than 45 minutes ago because I was searching for only one person who was a good friend of mine whom I have lost contact with. I signed up for the plan that was $7.95 a month. The reason I fell for it is that they had the correct information in regard to this friend before I entered my credit card information. I signed up and typed her name in, and nothing about her came up. There was no such person in their database. I searched several more times, and it still didn't render the results they first brought up. I immediately called the toll-free number, and after waiting several minutes on hold, I talked to a rep who told me they had already charged me for the entire year! When I advised her I just wanted to cancel my account, she then said she could only refund me for half the year and would have to charge me for 6 months and would not completely cancel the account. She gave me a confirmation number and that was it.

I was so surprised I wasn't sure what to do. So the more I thought about it, the more angry I got. I then called my credit card company (Chase), and she advised me to dispute the charge because I felt like they had misrepresented their service to me. So, I am waiting for the charge to go through before I can call the dispute team. This happened today, and only 2 hours have elapsed since this all began. How can they do this? I realized my mistake pretty quickly once I got on the website, and I feel that at the most they should have only charged me $7.95.

I believe I was stupid for falling for this, but the information they gave me before I completely signed up was accurate because they gave my friend's maiden name and her married name and her husband's name and their city of residence. So I truly believed they had this information. I am mad at myself but also at MyLife for not working with me on this. I was willing to concede that I signed up for $7.95 a month and could have lived with losing that, but $47.00 for using their "service" for all of ten minutes, which was not even what they represented to me to begin with. The way that the site advertises the subscriptions are the monthly breakdowns of the cost. It does say that the subscription is paid in full, however it is advertised in a somewhat misleading way. If you think you can't get all of your money back for an accidental 1 year, 9 months, 6 or 3 months, heck even the 1 month, don't be fooled! I wrote immediately and asked to cancel my membership, which they did not do. They explained that it was an automatic renewal on a yearly basis. At that point, my mom became very sick, and all else went by the wayside. I used the service three times, twice to see if it worked, once to see if there was anything on a dear friend who had died. Here's a shocker: they continue to send me updates and new developments on a friend who was buried more than 10 years ago.

I spoke to an operator today and cried. I am a student and $83 is a hardship. I would never have signed up for anything that expensive. They make it look like you are signing up only for one $6.95 payment. This is a scam, pure and simple. They aren't going to refund anything for me. I'm out of that money. I hope everyone here tells every person they know. This is not ethical business and innocent people are scammed. They present the payment options as if you are making one $6.95 payment. When you are confronted with the $83 and want out, they will tell you that you can stop the renewal for next year. False advertising, false presentation, fraud. Someone, please do something about this company! It's not even in the fine print. It looked like one payment of $6.95. And suddenly you're in for over $83 and they won't refund it.

I decided to Google my name and was horrified to find that MyLife.com had my name and residence, including links to my extended family members. The data included full names and city/state of residence. When I called MyLife.com (formerly Reunion.com) at the toll-free number provided on their website, they openly admitted to purchasing the relationship data from Facebook and intermingling it with public records data for residences. Sadly, it was true; in Facebook, I did indicate which "friends" were actually family members, such as mom, dad, siblings, cousins, etc. Since we each opted-in to such relationship data on Facebook and each have our security settings limited to "friends only", Facebook apparently sold this data. I would love to see a class-action lawsuit against Facebook, but it was likely overlooked in their fine print.

I immediately requested my information to be deleted from MyLife.com and they complied, despite it taking a week or so to completely disappear - not to mention how long it took before Google removed the info they retained/indexed from MyLife.com. I also informed my entire family and every one of them were completely angered by the unauthorized listings. Each person unchecked every relationship in Facebook and then called MyLife.com to request deletion of their profile. In my opinion, Facebook is not unlike Google; they want to know all about you, your likes, family, friends, hangouts, and then they sell it for a large profit. The digital age, in this regard, is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

The help file explained how I could "delete" my account, but the link did not exist. I again emailed them, but received no response. Now, I've realized that I've been charged for a third month. I've requested a refund, but I'm doubtful that it will happen.

I used MyLife for one search transaction and only authorized billing for single month. But they began to automatically bill monthly. I called their customer service and demanded a refund. I told them to remove any account information and cancel any account that I had. They complied. However, again this month, they billed my credit card again.

I have not received any function from either of the two accounts I subscribed to. I continue to get a new window that does not even recognize me as member! A continuous runaround with absolutely no results. They do, by the way, continue to ask for more money. That is all they do. I have lost money for a service that was not provided. My card number is compromised and who knows about my personal info?

I did sign up for Classmates and deleted my profile from them but if the speculation is correct and MyLife is using Classmates info, then MyLife is using deleted Classmates info in my case. Please get these people to stop!

I would like Mylife.com to remove my name from their site.I had try accessing this site with my yahoo ID but it showed invalid. It seemed that someone had entered information about me on Mylife.com that is incorrect. It showed that I had five records of me in my name: my birth record, I had two marriages, I have two death records. I find that this is totally ridiculous. Please remove my name from your website. I saw on their site that 7 females were looking for me. Hope springing eternal, I took the bait and signed up for an account, which would be billed monthly if I did not cancel. I knew none of these females, who suspiciously were all in their 20's and attractive (fat chance). I called and cancelled the service after taking a look (same or next day). Just looked at my credit card statements and saw that they have been charging me $21.95/month ever since. I skipped contacting them and called my credit card company to dispute all, except the first charge which I authorized.

I received an email saying my ex-fiance searched for me recently. I went to mylife.com and found out to contact her back I would need to be a paid member. I signed up for the one month option for $20.95. The way it is worded no one would think its a recurring subscription because it doesn't say it is! All the other premium membership options are all recurring subscriptions and they clearly state that when I contacted my ex, which I haven't even talked to in almost a decade, she said she never tried to look me up.

Also, during this one month premium membership period, I received several emails saying that other people just looked me up at such and such a time today or or yesterday or whatever the cases were. I would log in to see who they were and every time the account didn't show anyone except for of course that one search result that got me to sign up in the first place. So they were sending me fake search results just to make my name look active.

When the month was over, I received a recurring charge of another $20.95 even though I chose the one month only option. Mylife.com is very shady and as soon as I talked to them they refused to refund me. I called up my bank and they are investigating the matter and hopefully I get my refund that way. I am happy though that there is a lawsuit underway I read against mylife.com for these very issues. I hope they are shut down.

I've never signed up to this website or subscribed for their services. I've written to them to ask that they please remove my name and other personal information from their site. I do not need the world to know where I live or where I used to live. I am currently looking for employment and I feel that the website is hurting my chances of finding it. I am not looking to 'reconnect' with anyone; I have no family and friends. I do not even have a Facebook page and do not own a cell phone. The only way they could have gotten my info is by contacting me under the guise of being an employer looking for an employee; taking advantage of my desperation to find work. The only correct info they appear to have is what is listed on my resume. If that's not fraud, then I don't know what that is. From what I've seen in terms of complaints from others, I am not the only one they've done this to. Why are they allowed to continue?

MyLife.com has a lot of information about my family members and myself on their site that is not available on the Internet. I tried to remove our information and they require even more private information that should not be asked for and that some of my relatives do not even have since they do not use computers. How can I protect my family from personal information being published without our consent? I believe the MyLife site was the source of information used by criminals recently to call some of my relatives and attempt to steal money via the "Grandparent Scam." The one relative who fell for the scam thankfully was able to get most of their money back from the money wire company, but this could have been disastrous for them as they are on a fixed income.

This was very deceptive. My husband tried the "free trial" within 12 hours and they charged our debit card $167.00. My husband called that morning and he was told that they do not offer anything for free, and that the $167.00 was for a 1-year subscription. After arguing with them, the best they said that they could do was to change it from a 1-year to a 3-month subscription. They did reimburse us $119.00 and they made $48.00 on the deal. On the next week, our account was charged $19.95 from a company called "Saving Aces". Again, my husband called them, and he was told that they got the information from MyLife.

I did not sign up for an account but they have all of my personal information, my age, my home address, and email. I contacted them to have it removed. They sent a slip and claimed it had been done. But when I checked back, it was still there. In a Google search, it has all the information provided. But it lists MyLife.com as the source of information. Some of the info is not available on my Facebook account, so I have no idea how they got some of the information. I have had problems with someone harassing members of my family before. And I don't want a wide open invitation telling strangers my home address and how to contact me.

And I requested to have any info correct or incorrect removed from the site. You cannot do this online without paying for a membership. Customer service has said there is nothing they can do. With identity theft such an issue, how can they do this? I think the government needs to step in and correct this for all our safety!

We did not even get accurate information about my missing brother. I agreed to $14.95 and was charged $179. I was misled into believing there was current information about my brother and there was none.
