I would love to leave zero stars- first off I cannot even speak to a real person over at Groupon. I ordered tickets to a theme park today for 3 people. They charged my account for 6 and my bank flagged it and shut my debit card off. I am out a card until a new one arrives. Not only that the Groupon still wouldn’t let me speak to someone to get another set of tickets. Ridiculous- I was not going to order again just to go around in another circle with them. I will never order another Groupon again. I’ve used them plenty in the past and never had any issues. What. A. Joke!!!

This company is unscrupulous and has given me the runaround for quite a while now. It was through Groupon that I ordered a TV streaming subscription. I never received a voucher or notice of subscription fulfilled. Next, I retried following their directions to no avail. I have filed a depute with Discover which is still unresolved. They never tried to make it right. Beware of this company!

No "good deal" is worth this much frustration. They sent out the wrong product from the same name brand (sent boxers, ordered briefs and it's my once a year purchase for a disabled person on a fixed income) and over a month of "communication" later, they still have not sent the correct items and have not given a reason for the substitution. Just demands to return the wrong items for a eventual refund. 7 or 8 emails back and forth (so 14-16 back and forth). There was NO owning up to their policy, (whatever it may be because they never informed if their actions were based on any of their policies) or correcting their mistake and they choose to not inform their customer to the point of gaslighting, is RIDICULOUS! If you have run out of a deals inventory, inform the customer instead of shipping a substitution without communication first!, But honestly, I don't know if that is what even happened.

I started an order with Groupon in June. As soon as I started it and they immediately charged my CC. I never completed the order, removed it from my cart. They have little or no contact information so my CC company attempted to obtain a refund. Well, my CC said there was not enough info although I sent them everything I had including my account statement showing I had not purchased anything in several years. My CC denied my claim so I am out $84!! I’m also cancelling my CC once the bill is paid.

I booked a tour through Groupon, but a flight cancellation prevented me from attending. The merchant was willing to refund, but Groupon refused, citing a non-refundable policy—even when I offered proof. Instead, I was given a short-term discount code, which doesn’t compensate for the money I lost. Groupon’s rigid stance and lack of flexibility in genuine situations like this was very disappointing.

Groupon is such a disappointment these days. I bought a laser treatment for 6 services and the merchant decided to close after 2 treatments. After rounds of negotiations, Groupon decided to refund me only 50% of what I paid, and only in Groupon credits. I hate to do business with them again, they cannot fill in when their selected merchants cannot do the job. I didn't want the Groupon credits, but that's their "policy" apparently, they don't care for their customers and cannot act as a trusted agent when the merchant fell short.

Bought a message for my daughter on Groupon. This massage company never answers their phone. I talked to Groupon then only did I get a text from the massage place. She never replied to me when I said it’s about to expire. What a waste of money and time. Groupon's excuse was they were having personal issues. You know what not my problem. In the text I asked for a refund. About 2 weeks later. Nothing. This is a poor way to do business. Not happy so I’m on here so maybe they will get the message now.

Hi well I bought myself a voucher for a meal for one drink not included to Black Angus for $36.99 and it was good for the campfire dinner original price $41.99. I went in and was seated I showed the person that was taking my order I said I'll have whatever this voucher covers nothing more and a drink. So after I ate she came back with a bill of $57 so I gave her my phone so she can do her thing. She came back with only 5% off, that was it. I had to pay almost $47.00 apart what the voucher cost me $36.99. So I paid and left sent Groupon a message. They said, "Oh you can still use your voucher." ok so a week later I go to a different Black Angus told the waiter same thing, I'll have whatever this Voucher covers 3 times I told him. He even told me which kind of meat to get that's really good.
At the end the voucher didn't work. It was used at the first black Angus that I went to. They even have me a print out showing it was used. So I paid for another voucher to use. Gave it to manager, she also only gave me 5% off. They were charging me for everything separate. I told her this voucher says for one dinner not 5% off. That's falls advertising. It make no sense for me to my a dinner voucher for $36.99 if I'm only getting 5% off. I message Groupon, sent them my receipt and a print out where they did redeemed the voucher as well. The lady tells me to go and try and use the voucher. I told her you got to be kidding. I don't think she knew how to even read. So don't be fooled by Groupon. They will scam you!!!! NEVER AGAIN. I AM GONNA TRY AND SUE THEM. I'LL LET YOU KNOW HOW THAT WENT LATER.

Groupon is an awful company with virtually no customer service. I purchased a massage deal, only to be told by the vendor that the coupon wouldn’t be honored unless I paid extra cash directly. I refused and contacted GripeOn, but their support (unhelpful and dismissive) refused to issue a refund because it was outside a three-day window. The merchant didn’t deliver the service I paid for, yet GripeOn still refused to help. I had to dispute the charge with my credit card company. Their vendors are shady, and their “support” team seems to exist solely to deny assistance. I will never use GripeOn again and strongly advise others to avoid them as well.

We used Groupon to reserve and pay for a San Diego Bay dinner cruise and related downtown parking. The process was terrible. We had to personally visit the parking garage before our event to clarify that we did in fact have a paid-for reservation because the Groupon application was so confusing and provided nothing to document our payment. Having done this, there was still confusion and delay on the night of our event in trying to enter and exit the parking structure. In the case of the cruise, we had to call the operator to clarify. Are worse than useless.

I purchased a Groupon recently that was extremely misleading. I found out that in order to use it at all, I had to spend over $100 more through the company. Trust me, they are not worth any supposed amount you will save by purchasing through them.

Groupon didn't even attempt to offer a resolution. No refund, no future credit, no ability to transfer - nothing. Told me I was SOL and that was it. I have used Groupon for more than 10 years with no issues. I recently ordered MLB baseball tickets through them which I have done many times before without incident. This week I ordered tickets for a baseball game scheduled for today. As previously, I followed the instructions on how to obtain my tickets. This time, there were no tickets in my MLB App. I called the merchant and was told they never received anything from groupon about my purchase. I contact Groupon. They have no phone number so the only option is an online chat. At first they started to tell me about how to use the voucher for my candle making groupon (in another state). I told them I never bought a groupon for candle making and this was about baseball tickets.
My groupon account clearly showed that I purchased baseball tickets and I had the order number. They kept pausing the "chat" to look review things. I was then given an escalation number and told someone would e-mail me. They said they sent the case "highest priority" and understood that the issue was time-sensitive. This was about 2 hours into my chatting with them and about an hour before we needed to leave for the game. I never heard anything. I continued the chat numerous times asking about when I would hear back.
Finally, once the time for the game had passed, I asked for a refund. I was told that there were "No Refunds" and that I had agreed to this term at the time of the purchase. However, they never delivered the tickets. I was not asking to return something that I bought. They never gave me the things I purchased, i.e. the tickets. Thus, they never fulfilled the terms of the sale. It seems like Groupon somehow screwed up on the groupon I ordered (candle making versus baseball tickets), but refused to issue a refund.

My review will be a little different as I have used them on both sides of the coin. For small businesses Groupon was the worst decision I've ever made. Oh sure they will get the clients in the door but first they discount the discount you already gave leaving you with nothing to collect. Then you have a shit load of customers working day and night to accommodate the influx but get paid nothing because they are taking damn near half of the earnings. So not only can I not pay my bills from this, but I also can not work another job to make up for the “discounts” because of the amount of people I have to accommodate. Then let’s not forget how they will never refund you for anything because they want to keep the money with them. They are the greediest company I have worked with and I know justice will prevail because they do not do right by their vendors nor their customers.

Do not use them. They do not refund even when they are in the wrong, and ultimately, their so-called discounts are no more than a few dollars. Wish I'd checked reviews before I gave them the opportunity to wrongly keep my $92.

By any means necessary never use Groupon for any type of services. Groupon is in the practice of permitting the merchants to scam the customer out of their money. Groupon advises since the voucher was redeemed a refund could not be provided. I'm in the process of civil action against Groupon. I have always been hesitant about using Groupon. Until a few weeks ago I needed to book a room for a hotel for a kids' sports tournament. I could not get a room at the hotel the team was staying at. One of the parents told me they were available on groupon. So I downloaded the app and sure enough there were rooms. So I booked one. Printed my confirmation email and waited for the tournament. When we arrived at the hotel I was told by the front desk that no reservation existed under my name. So I showed them the email with confirmation number. Still nothing.
My only choices were to try to contact groupon and wait 3-5 days for a response or pay for a room that just became available. So I paid for the room figuring a clear mistake was made and they would refund me. Haha not the case. Groupon blames the error on a 3rd party source who does not refund and they won't either. Sad! I double paid for a room and a giant company refuses to due right by its customer. Well that will be the last time I use them. Be wary of this. And if you do book a room with groupon, I guess it makes sense to call in advance to confirm the reservation. At least 5 days before so their customer support can get back to you. Good luck

I’m writing this review to express my frustration and disappointment with Groupon’s current handling of facial campaign submissions. Recently, I attempted to launch a facial campaign through your platform, only to be told that Groupon is “no longer accepting facial campaigns.” This reasoning feels completely arbitrary, especially considering that numerous facial offers are still actively running on your site. When I asked for clarification, I received no valid or detailed explanation—just a vague statement that facials are not being accepted at this time.
This kind of selective acceptance without transparency is unfair and inconsistent. The beauty and wellness industry is massive, with ongoing demand for facial treatments. There is absolutely no logical reason to reject my campaign purely based on the category, especially when others are clearly allowed. As a business owner trying to grow and reach new customers, I expected a more professional and inclusive approach from Groupon. If there are new policies or limitations, they should be clearly communicated and enforced equally—not arbitrarily. I hope Groupon reconsiders this approach and provides a fair opportunity for all businesses in the beauty sector, rather than selectively limiting access without proper justification.

I purchased a Groupon for a hairdresser located in Las Vegas. When I went to make the appointment I was texted that I would need to select off her website the service and pay with credit card, even though I had already purchased the service via Groupon. I felt uncomfortable having to pay twice and immediately requested help from Groupon Customer Service who did not even read my message just requoted back to me what it says on the merchants site. I then sent them the text from the merchant to verify I was telling them the truth.
My next response from them was to tell me, I already had one open service request and I would need to wait until the first customer service agent responded. 3 weeks later, I receive another response from customer service, who is a different representative who gives me a long list of things I must do to set up an appointment to "speak" with them so they can discuss how to resolve my issue. All I asked was to credit my account or give me a refund. What is so difficult about this? I informed them, I have a better solution. I will write a review warning people NOT to buy Groupon deals for once you do, you will get absolutely NO support from customer service. The time, effort, and money wasted not to mention the aggravation dealing with customer service has left me disappointed with this company which has gone completely down hill in recent years.

I was recently affected by a series of unauthorized transactions on Groupon totaling $572. Following an investigation, Groupon confirmed that transactions were indeed unauthorized. However, instead of refunding the amount to my bank, Groupon opted to provide me Groupon Bucks. The excuse that I was given is that they could not refund my money to the payment method used because all stored credit card information and billing records were removed from the system for security purposes. Where was the security when someone was making $572 worth of purchases? There wasn't problem using my "secure" stored card then. Given that I did not initiate any purchases on Groupon, what purpose will $572 in Groupon Bucks serve for me? I am so upset with how things have been handled thus far that I will never purchase anything on the Groupon platform.
This experience has caused me unnecessary financial stress. My checking account is overdrawn, resulting in overdraft fees, and the only resolution offered is to spend money I don't have on the Groupon platform. How much sense does that make. I can understand if I made the purchases and then for some reason asked for a refund. However, that is not the case. I did not make these unauthorized purchases. I just want my money back. It was stolen from me once and now Groupon is stealing from me again by holding may money hostage in the form of Groupon Bucks.

Awful awful experience. My daughter made a purchase. She's 10 - Groupon refused to give me a refund stating that their policy states final sale. I finally accepted that and decided to use the Groupon, for a Great Wolf Lodge resort 1.5 hours away. First, the link Groupon provided was for Minnesota, not Manteca. Second, the customer service rep repeated the same canned apologies and "use the link we provided" for over 25 minutes, not understanding what I kept repeating. Third, Great Wolf Lodge asked for an ID Number in the Groupon Confirmation Email. No ID Number was provided - just the order number.
I tried using codes within the voucher and the emails with no success. Great Wolf Lodge requires the code that I just do not have to finalize the reservation. I told Groupon this and they're still riding that hill of "we can't give you a refund" even though they are very clearly the problem. This deal was advertised as Six Flags & Hurricane Harbor admission. The Groupon was accepted and we were allowed into Six Flags as expected. The problem started when we went to Hurricane Harbor and our entry was not allowed. We weren’t allowed into Hurricane Harbor because the ticket was only for entrance into Six Flags. The Hurricane Harbor worker was aware of the fact that the Groupon offer stated Six Flags and Hurricane Harbor but the ticket was only for Six Flags entry. She stated that this is an issue that they have been having with this particular Groupon offer and that Groupon had been previously notified but has not changed the advertising or the deal itself.
I contacted Groupon and was basically told that it doesn’t matter that the offer was advertised as Six Flags AND Hurricane Harbor. The representative actually said ‘we always recommend our customers to read the deal terms before making any purchase’. Well you’ve got me there. I should’ve read all of the fine print details- details that do NOT clearly state that Hurricane Harbor is not a part of this purchase. But yes I should have read the details. Groupon should also NOT advertise one thing while burying the details in the fine print. I’m reaching out regarding some ongoing challenges we’re facing with Groupon on the business side. We currently have an active Groupon offer, but there’s no way for us to verify the legitimacy of a voucher through our customer management software (CMS). I’ve requested that Groupon provide a method or API for us to validate vouchers through our CMS, but they’ve declined.
I’ve also contacted our account manager, David **, asking to be connected with someone who can help us resolve this issue. Unfortunately, he has not escalated the matter and seems to be functioning as a gatekeeper. Despite several attempts to reach someone else—by phone and through alternate emails—everything continues to route back to Mr. **, who has been unable or unwilling to assist further.
This lack of access to voucher validation is a serious issue. We’ve already encountered cases of fake Groupons, which are damaging to our business. In addition, if there is even a minor typo in the code we submit for redemption, the payment is denied and we receive no compensation for that customer. We’re truly at our wits’ end and would appreciate any assistance or guidance you can offer to help us move this forward. We want to continue offering deals through Groupon, but we need a more reliable and secure system in place to protect both our business and our customers. Thank you for your time and help.

However, since I booked through Groupon, the hotel directed me to them to change the date. 💥 Groupon refused to help and sent me back to the hotel. I purchased a $449.50 Groupon in December 2024 for one year of unlimited Soprano laser hair removal at Bonnie’s Beauty Lounge. The deal was explicitly advertised on Groupon’s website and app as using a Soprano laser, a professional-grade device. Before my January 25, 2025 appointment, the merchant redeemed my voucher without my consent, blocking me from disputing it through Groupon. When I arrived, I discovered they were not using a Soprano laser but instead a small, unbranded home-use device that was completely different from what was advertised. The merchant admitted they did not own a Soprano laser at all. I immediately canceled the remaining 11 months and requested a refund from Groupon the same day. It took 12 days and multiple follow-ups before they responded.
Instead of properly refunding me: They refunded me LESS than the $449.50 I originally paid. They only gave me Groupon credit instead of returning my money to my original payment method. Now, they won’t even let me use my Groupon credit unless I provide my credit card details, which is unnecessary and feels like a scam to extract more payment information. This is blatant false advertising, deceptive refund practices, and consumer fraud. I’m writing this review to warn other consumers about Groupon’s mishandling of what should have been a simple hotel booking. On December 20, 2023, I purchased a one-night stay at the Holiday Inn in Richmond, BC for the following night, December 21. My email confirmation clearly states a check-in date of December 21. But the reservation didn’t appear in my Groupon account until I contacted their online support—and when it finally showed up, it was marked as “expired.”
Worse still, Groupon insisted my reservation had been for December 20, despite the email evidence I provided. I spent nearly five hours chatting with different Groupon representatives. Each promised to fix the error and notify the Holiday Inn, but when I arrived at the hotel, the staff said they had never heard from Groupon at all. I had no valid reservation and was forced to pay an additional $150 for alternative lodging.
I initially paid $70 on my credit card plus $75 from a Groupon gift card (converted into Groupon Bucks). Since Groupon refused to refund me, I had to initiate a chargeback on my $70. However, they continue to refuse to return my $75 in Groupon Bucks, leaving me with no means to recover that money. This financial burden and the stress it caused were made even worse by the fact that my wife is pregnant—this was supposed to be a special Christmas getaway for us, yet all we ended up with was frustration and disappointment.
Equally frustrating is Groupon’s lack of any direct phone support. After a while, their chat representatives simply stopped answering my messages, leaving me without a resolution. I have detailed chat transcripts, proof of my booking date, and documentation from the hotel confirming they were never contacted by Groupon.
I’m sharing my experience here because I don’t want anyone else to go through this ordeal. If a company is going to sell deals that involve time-sensitive bookings, they should at least provide reliable customer service. Instead, Groupon’s negligence and refusal to correct their own mistake made an already stressful situation far worse. Use extreme caution before booking with them. I know I’ll never use Groupon again.

They acknowledged the complaint and promised to work with me regarding the complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Then as soon as I set the complaint to resolved, due to being required to mark the complaint as resolved or not because of the BBB imposed timelines, they "ghosted" me and are not responding again.
We have proof that we have notified them of the fraud and that they acknowledged the fraud and they are now ignoring the fraud, and in my opinion I believe they are helping the fraudulent company because it is easy money. I remember reading something about a very large high profile lawsuit filed against Groupon for what I believe was similar bad business practices... I will have to look into that further.

We have notified Groupon 3 times of this and have provided all necessary information to eliminate most if not all of the fraudulent business accounts that these individuals are operating under at Groupon. Unfortunately, Groupon is not responding to us and has not removed the fraudulent companies. This is causing financial damage and damage to our reputation as well. Groupon is screwed up and not the Groupon it used to be. Promo codes when applied don’t discount the item correctly, ripping off the customer. I guess Groupon doesn’t know how to do simple math or thinks a potential customer won’t check their math. There is no longer any form of Groupon customer service. Their phone number listed is a solicitor that has nothing to do with Groupon. There is no longer a customer service “chat” feature on their app. If you fill out their “email” form, when you hit “send” it doesn’t go through. I predict they will be out of business in no time with all the issues customers are now encountering. I’m sure they will be reported to the Better Business Bureau, if this hasn’t been done already.

Since the Groupon link wouldn't even display any part of the voucher (or verifiable receipt of purchase) for me to show the merchant where I purchased the deal, I couldn't take advantage of the benefit nor could the merchant work with me in accommodating my purchase. I contacted Groupon for a refund and like the rest of the reviews I've read on here, Groupon refused to give the refund stating none was warranted. But there was no indication of final sale. Groupon stated that unused vouchers are refunded but they denied this and continued to say no refund. I see that the company acquired a new owner in 2023 after a class action lawsuit. For a company as big as GROUPON proclaims to be this is the first red flag. Updated on 9/10/2024: I booked a Land and Sea tour with Gray Line in Savannah, in mid June for an August vacation. I made the mistake of Booking through Groupon. When I booked I booked 1 tour, at 148.00 (this was for 2 people) and it showed 1 tour at first on my Groupon page. But within weeks, when I went to Book another tour through Groupon I saw that it showed I had been refunded but another tour time had been reserved for me as well as another tour. So 2 tours was Booked, 2 separate tours, 2 separate times 11 AM and 1 PM. I went immediately to my credit card statement to check, this was about 3 weeks from our trip. I tried to reach out to Groupon, but was there a no cancellation clause after having bought the tickets. So I contacted my credit card company, and disputed the ticket.
All was well and good but then after my trip they charged back the 148.00 to my credit card stating that Gray Line had disputed the charge back. The CC company told me how to contact them to dispute the charges with Groupon and Gray line. I did that too. I got an email today from Gray Line telling me that I was not going to get my money back because I didn't cancel at least 24 hours before the tour. Well Groupon told me, on a drop down bar, because you can't call anyone there you have to use automated responses or snail mail them. I couldn't cancel except within 24 hours of buying the ticket. Either way I took a tour of Land and Sea in Savannah and it cost me 296.00 for 2 people. Was it worth it? It was a fantastic tour, but not worth 296.00. I really thought using my credit card I could dispute any charges that were suspicious. I was told by the CC company, nope. So because Gray Line wouldn't work this out amicably I don't recommend them, and I certainly don't recommend any third party coupons from here on out.
Original review: I bought tickets for my vacations in Savannah and Charleston, through Groupon. I was overbilled and charged for 3 sets of tickets, they refunded one that I didn't even know they had taken out till the next month when my statement came out, but then I paid double what the initial cost was. I contacted the Gray Lines tour company and was told that my tickets were not even bought through Groupon but through a 3rd party company named Viator, I was told to contact them via chat. NO one has a phone anymore.
I chatted with them, showed my proof for both tickets being double billed (148.00x2) and they gave me a story of how it was another of their companies that had to be contacted to have an investigation done. The tickets I bought were for a water tour package for 2, at 1 PM, but I got sent tickets for 11 and at 1, for 4, I only needed 2 for 1 PM. It's a mess. I have emailed them requesting an investigation and a refund, I am hoping they return my 148.00.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of using Groupon, and I can't stress enough how awful it was. This was my first and definitely my last time using this platform. First, the deals are incredibly misleading. What looks like a great discount on the surface turns out to be a bait-and-switch tactic. I purchased a deal for a local restaurant that promised 50% off, but when I arrived, the restaurant refused to honor the Groupon, claiming they never agreed to the terms listed. After a heated argument with the manager, I had to pay full price for my meal, which completely defeated the purpose of using Groupon in the first place.
Second, their customer service is a complete nightmare. Trying to get a refund was an exercise in frustration. The representatives were rude, unhelpful, and kept giving me the runaround. It took over a month to finally get my money back, and that was after countless emails and phone calls. Third, many of the businesses listed on Groupon are shady and unreliable. I later found out that several other customers had similar issues with the same restaurant and other businesses on the platform. Groupon seems to do zero vetting of their partners, which means you’re gambling with your time and money every time you use one of their deals.
Overall, Groupon is a scammy, poorly run service that preys on customers looking for a good deal. Save yourself the headache and avoid it at all costs. There are plenty of other ways to find discounts without dealing with this disaster of a company. One star is too generous for the level of incompetence and deceit I experienced.

Groupon is a scam and doesn't stand by its customers. I purchased a groupon from a vendor. Worst customer service and a total scam! I called to make an appointment and they said that they are booking out a week even though the website clearly shows that there is availability all afternoon. Then, I get a call saying that someone is available at 3PM but that the area that I purchased would cover about the size of a quarter which is fine but that it had to be the exact specific location. If I moved the quarter space back (same exact size), I now had to pay for a medium size service. Absolutely ridiculous! Waste of my time! I was told by the business to get a refund from Groupon since I didn't qualify for the service. Groupon said that the time for a refund had expired and that the business is open and can take me. The business was trying to get me to pay more than what I had already purchased. Both places are total scams.

There is literally no phone number, no contact customer support info (this is the way shady, scam companies on FB and Tik tok operate, not supposedly reputable multi billion dollar companies). They expire on the 31st, it's the 19th now. I contacted customer service and they were absolute robot jerks. They told me to wait up to SEVEN DAYS to remedy. Of which it is not guaranteed they would refund the amount I paid. And I can't use them all at once either even if they did decide to accept them after all.
Groupon disconnected me and blew me off, when I asked if they could please resolve within 24 hours so I don't have to deal with this for the next flippin week. Not helpful at all. Come time for the rescheduled appointment and once again, the massage therapist cancelled the appointment on the same day. Keep in mind, neither cancelled appointment came with any reason - the appointments were just cancelled. My wife, who was fed up with having her appointments cancelled each and every time just asked for a refund of her Groupon. The merchant wouldn't even communicate with my wife after the second cancelled appointment. We also found that the merchant had redeemed the Groupon without our knowledge.
When we filed a complaint with Groupon, Groupon did nothing to help us. They just simply reached out to the merchant who told them they would reschedule the appointment, and that was all Groupon would do. Even after I told Groupon that this merchant had done the same thing to several other customers, and that I had reached out to the BBB, they still refused to investigate any further. I realized that Groupon is only after profit and not into protecting the consumers at all. I have also reached out to the local news media to see if they would cover the story.
