Credit Karma provided suggestions on how to lower my mortgage payment, one of them a 15 year fixed rate mortgage through Chase. Interest rate at 3.62%, no fees, and fixed payment, so I applied directly through Credit Karma. I received a call from Chase, and provided my credit score so they could hold off on doing a hard check. My offer came back at 3.8%, a mortgage payment $300 more than Credit Karma suggested, and fees of almost $2500! When I told Chase about the offer specifically through Credit Karma, I was put on hold, the reply was that that rate/mortgage offer does not exist. I am glad they did not pull my credit report! Thanks a lot Credit Karma, for nothing!

Decided to try filing w/ Credit Karma. What a mess! Kept trying to give me a $12k refund when should've been $1600 & the EIC when we don't qualify. No way to delete the tax form and create a new one. Even tried deleting the data & re-entering but the same bad data kept coming back over and over again. Tried reaching out to the company to ask about resetting/deleting my tax form but gave up after spending a ridiculous amount of time trying to find it. Just kept getting rerouted to their "FAQ'S". Finally just went w/ an online filing company that charges but it was well worth the fees to have the peace of mind that everything was filed correctly. I've done our taxes for years so I have the experience to know when a blatant error is coming up. I feel for anyone who doesn't have such experience and then risks filing through Credit Karma.

I was told by a lender that the amount I owed on various cards lowered my credit score, and Credit Karma could tell me how to raise my score. Credit Karma's idea was to send me offers for over a dozen different credit cards, most of them wanting annual fees. I owe too much so I should spend more? None of the offers included balance transfers, which would only consolidate debt anyway, not lower it. Thanks loads. This is just a way for advertisers to collect data, don't waste your time.

Tried email support as well as chat. All gave me a canned answer which failed. Two different chat persons just disconnected while I was typing and when I hit enter a new agent was assigned. I finally solved my own problem which was very basic and no one in support knew the answer. I think they do a database search of your question and send you the results. No interest in customer satisfaction will be their demise. Free sw is also free of any support so back to my purchase of sw.

Is it Credit Karma or the 3 credit bureaus? Seems like I work to improve my report from Credit Karma and it will be slowly going up as I pay down my debts then I get some overtime and I pay down my debts by a thousand dollars and my credit score drops 20 points. This has happened 3 times, I don't know who to blame but this seems to all be a game and I'm being played with.

I tried at least five times over the last 6 months to dispute an account through Credit Karma website. No success! I got an email about 2 months ago. "Currently, it looks like our system is having difficulty filing Direct Disputes for your account. I apologize for the inconvenience, but this appears to be a temporary issue." That was Jan 10 2019 and today's is Feb 19 2019 and it still isn't working. These appear to be features that attract (bait) customers but in reality they don't work. Just appearances.

At first, I was pleased with how easy it was to enter all of my information and the fact that it was completely free, until I finished my Federal Taxes and was told at the end of completion that they were not accepting state tax returns for the state of Wisconsin. I then became very concerned and contact them directly, however, they do not use phone services and I didn't receive a response until two days later via email saying: "Credit Karma Tax is not yet open for filing with Wisconsin. Each year, every state has new laws that our software needs to abide by. We are working with the state to be available very soon.
While there is no set date on when your state will be available for e-filing with Credit Karma Tax, if your email settings are on, we’ll send you an email to notify you as more states become available for filing with Credit Karma Tax." It's been about a week and the status for Wisconsin has not yet changed, mind you, I was not notified that they were not accepting state taxes at the moment. I'm quite anxious and hope it wasn't a scam, let alone, I really hope I don't have to amend my taxes and wait even longer.

This tax software does not support many common situations people may have. I did my whole tax return, only to have to abandon it and start over with someone else because they can't handle RMDs that are donated to charity. Thanks for wasting my time, Credit Karma.

My tax return was rejected because the Credit Karma software does not automatically generate form 8283 which is needed for the package. Form 8283 is not listed on site as one of the forms that is not supported, so in theory it should have been populated with the other tax forms. The software does not recognize this as an internal mistake and keeps asking me to log in to correct my tax return. I contacted support on 2/12 and the auto generated response indicated that they will respond "as soon as they can".
Meanwhile it's 2/15 and I have not heard anything yet. This is where credit karma does not shine; in a situation where you really need to talk to someone so that they can fix their error. Or even if this is a systemic problem, there should still be some kind of PR message indicating they are aware of it and in process of fixing it. I am trying to decide whether to go to a different efile service just because I do not know if I will get a reply from Credit Karma.

Filing my taxes with Credit Karma seemed like a good idea, and relatively simple, until I had a question. The "live chat" option was a joke... It took 15 minutes of waiting for a chatter to actually start talking to me, and after answering my question incorrectly, actually told me they didn't have the answer to my question! (Luckily I got the answer elsewhere online.)
Once my taxes were filed, I emailed Credit Karma with another question, and a week late, still had no reply. Re-emailed the same question, and now (two weeks after the initial email) STILL haven't received an answer. I like Credit Karma for the other services they provide (free credit report monitoring), but will NEVER use them for filing my taxes again.

Because of the tax changes, Credit Karma told me through a few chats that Rhode Island was not yet accepting electronic returns. That isn't true. They've been accepting them since the last week in January. I've always used Credit Karma, so I automatically went to their site and filed my daughter's Federal return. Unfortunately, they wrote, "We're not filing your State's returns at this time, but please sign up for our email notification." Well, I've been waiting for over two weeks now.
When I asked Mary to let her higher ups knows they should state BEFORE you file a Federal return, "Please check to see if we are filing your state's returns before you file your federal return," she tried to blame it on Rhode Island. I contacted the Division of Taxation. They told me Credit Karma has failed to update their forms, and that's why they can't do Rhode Island's. PLEASE CHECK YOUR STATE'S DIVISION OF TAXATION WEBSITE BEFORE YOU FILE YOUR TAXES ELECTRONICALLY. My daughter is eligible to file FREE from all the sites RI has listed. They DON'T have Credit Karma. I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM.

I applied for the card and got rejected, my credit score went down 17 points because of the hard inquiry from the application. I never would've applied for that card if it hadn't been suggested to me by Credit Karma. They have no customer service phone number to contact them and they haven't responded to my emails. You do NOT want to file your taxes thru Credit Karma. There are serious flaws in the calculations of this program. The one that applied to me meant losing $200 of what is owed to me re - my Fed return. Ex. - HSA account contributions and distributions are NOT taxable. However, the CK filing system is taxing me on the amount that I spent on medical payments after I selected the option stating that I did spend the money on qualified medical payments. (I have receipts and the document from the IRS that lists the qualified expenses.)
I have contacted CK support repeatedly, and keep getting the run-around. One chat support rep told me that recent Tax Reform laws now make my disbursements taxable. When I advised her that she is totally incorrect, that it states as such on the IRS website, she then in so many words accused me of lying about claiming that I spent the HSA funds on qualified medical expenses. She was giving out false info, did not know what she was talking about.
I have a ticket open re - this issue, but no one is getting back to me. I am done! Who knows what other mistakes in calculations this program is creating. Worst yet, you cannot delete your tax return file from the system. That is MY PERSONAL INFO. CK should not be able to hold my tax return info hostage. I... AM... DONE... with CK. Don't get me started on the flaws with the rest of their services - incorrect scoring, partnerships with companies that are rip-offs, promises that you will get approved for something that you won't, etc.

I like to do my income taxes and then do them with another software to see the comparison. I did mine with OLT.com, the IRS recommended site, and owed nearly a $1000. I did it with Credit Karma and owed nothing, but that isn't all of it. I had 11 stock trades this year. I filled in the form that had room for 10 trades, to do the 11th, I had to *add rows*. That added 10 more rows. I filled in the 11 and was ready to go to the next part and it wouldn't let me unless I filled out all 9 additional rows. I used their online support and the fellow, Dewayne, told me to use the edit button. There was no edit button.
I told him their software was just too buggy and he more or less suggested I get a pencil and form and do it by hand so I cut off the chat. I figured out a way to fill in the other 9 rows without changing my factual data or bottom line. I wanted to see if there was anything valid about this software so I finished and it said I owed nothing. I wanted to print out the 1040 forms so I went looking for them to see the math for myself. THERE IS NO OPPORTUNITY TO PRINT OUT FORMS FOR YOUR RECORDS...NONE! This is a scary company. AVOID THEM.

Logged on just to see if it was still pending and it said rejected, reasoning was my social was already used to file. Talk to chat support, it’s no better. Girl says both federal and state was rejected and I needed to call the IRS. Checked federal tax on IRS website and it was accepted, nothing wrong. 2 days later my state gets accepted. Over the years (yes my credit rebuilding is still "under construction") I've become suspicious of Credit Karma's tactics. For example, they congratulate me and tell me how great I'm doing when I really haven't done anything at all. Then I see my scores have gone up so I apply for one of their "recommended" credit cards and they tell me my odds are good for getting approved. Not true, and I am quickly denied for lacking a track record of credit card payments. Duh.
It's a vicious circle that goes on and on like that. Although I do not have any negative or positive accounts anymore, my credit score keeps changing according to CK. I kept applying and kept getting denied. Meanwhile, my credit scores are taking hits for hard inquiries and God knows what. I recently received an email from CK that my score dropped 33 points from TransUnion for not having a credit card! This is too confusing for me! Credit Karma is a scam. They are getting their money from kickbacks off of credit cards that charge high percentage APRs. The reason Credit Karma continues to tell people they have low scores. I started out with a score that matched the big 3. Then, after subscribing to Credit Karma, they have been all over the board with this company. I have done all of the things that people are told to do to raise your score. I have ordered new credit, used it then paid off quickly, oh, too quickly?
Okay, then run up credit and paid it back over long term paying out of course the interests on these cards. But as I pay these off my scores keep pummeling 40 points and when I click "what changed" it shows a $1200 Decrease in overall payments or percentage of credit used- that should be good, right? But apparently, a new card shows up with a balance on it of $200 and that wipes out the $1200 decrease. Really? IF they are being fair and balanced, it would show I used 18% of a new credit card, thus, bringing down my overall percentage points, but it didn't do that. If the Big 3 or even Credit Karma has more than a non interested neutral scoring formula or algorithm, it should be consistent, but it doesn't because that's not the point. Then you have to actually write them and send your request to end the relationship and get off of Credit Karma.
By the way, let me add my payment history is 100%. As far as I'm concerned, that is the only thing the big 3 ever should be concerned with, otherwise it shows an industry that has created very long arms of jurisdiction over people, and that means they have become useless in the real world. They need to go. There is no reason to set a premise for predatory credit cards other than to scam people. In the old days, you started out like everyone with a low interest card, then only if you deserved it, the interest charges went up- now it's the other way around. Get rid of your high interest cards, get rid of Credit Karma.

I have been using Credit Karma for several months now, and like others say it is easy to use. They constantly want you to use “partners'” credit cards and personal loans. My scores with Credit Karma have been in the fair and the needs work. Recently we contacted a mortgage lender to refi and to pay off other loans. Mortgage companies of course check your credit, they also notify you of what your scores are Experian - score 740, Transunion - score 725, Equifax - 713. Credit Karma was way below that. They wanted me to use one of their “partners” for the refi so it would help my credit scores go up.
Their partners' loans were nowhere near the one we are going to use. Everyone gets to check their credit scores once a year without hurting their credit score, if some of you would check yours and let us know if there was a difference in yours. I tried to get Credit Karma to explain the differences but all they did was give me a ticket number and said they would get back to me, should have been pretty easy to tell me but they didn’t. Someone please check so we know, I don't want to say something that may have been a fluke. But if it’s true everyone should know if you get low scores so you can use their “partners” to raise your score. Don't want to say something wrong about someone if it not consistently wrong. I just want the truth.

I attempted to create a Credit Karma account two weeks ago, only to learn that someone else had created an account with their email address using my personal information. I attempted to contact customer support, asking them to verify my identity and tell me how long the account had been open and what information they had shared; I made it known that I was not interested in using Credit Karma's credit services, and that I didn't want to simply change the email address associated with my personal information, since the Credit Karma website clearly states that changing the email address for an account erases the prior credit reports and usage history.
Credit Karma did not reply to me until a week and a half later, after I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. They responded on my BBB complaint saying that they replied to my initial message to support and saying that it's a busy time of year for them, and they also sent me an automated response to my original email, stating that there was another email address associated with my personal information, which was exactly what I told THEM in my original complaint. I pointed their redundancy out in my reply, reiterated my request for identity verification and a disclosure of my leaked personal information, and reminded them that they have breached their privacy policy and fallen short of their claims of security.
I also reiterated that I don't want to change the email address of the account because I don't want the usage history and old credit reports to be lost, and I explained that that information is the only way for me to know if there were other fraudulent actions perpetrated by my impostor that affected my credit, because I have reason to believe that there were such actions and that they have occurred more than two years ago. Credit Karma's solution was to suspend the account and let me know that the help ticket would close automatically in a few days.
In all this, they STILL had not once acknowledged my requests to verify my identity or explain how they shared my information with the impostor. I rejected their BBB answer on these grounds, threatened legal action both via email and in my BBB response, and also emailed both their security and legal departments regarding the matter. Only then did Credit Karma member support give me a link to upload documents that would better verify my identity. The security department and the legal department have not responded. I uploaded my driver's license and birth certificate as instructed in the last member support email. Afterward, I received an automated reply with a link to reset my account password, and an automated reply to notify me that my documents were received and that they had sent an email to me to reset my password.
The problem I'm having now is that I don't know what email address the account is connected to anymore. Because everything on Credit Karma's end is so impersonal, insensitive, and negligent, I worry that my requests were skimmed over (again) and that they really did (or are about to) change the email address associated with the account, thereby erasing all credit reports and usage data on the account per their policy and leaving me in the dark about what has been done to my credit. I voiced these concerns in my email to support and restated my desire to speak to someone on the matter; still no response. There is no number to call, and my only option is repeating my complaint to the brick wall that is their member support and hope that it reaches an actual caring human instead of parroting some irrelevant, scripted snippet of their default support response reservoir.
I have made a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. I will be writing their legal department, and will be finding legal consultation to see if there is any recourse for the irresponsible way that they've handled my credit information and my complaints. I will be doing everything I can, short of going to San Francisco myself and knocking on their door. I don't expect them to take responsibility for someone else figuring out my birthday and the last four of my social, but I do expect a company that works with such sensitive information to have a responsive support team that actually cares about privacy policy breaches and matters involving fraud.

I've enjoyed the service for some years but they have major flaws: 1. The scores are not remotely close to what the credit companies provide. For example, CK and the real scores for TransUnion had about an 70 pt. diff. (higher on CK) between the true score and what Credit Karma produces. I just bought a car, I had just seen my score(s) on CK as I do look periodically and asked what my real score was at the dealership. CK was worthless due to the huge discrepancy and my timing was great since I knew my CK score. That convinced me it was time to say farewell.
2. Really irrelevant due to #1... They lack the third credit company but it doesn't matter due to the score diff. and Credit Karma uses a scoring system the real world doesn't (a much earlier version). Since my scores are worthless through the company, there's simply no reason to use it. It was a "feel good" check but didn't resemble reality. Folks, use the free annual credit report to see if there's funky stuff going on. We also get notifications from our very old credit card if weird stuff happens.
When there was any issue, Credit Karma was fast in responding but usually gave me a useless answer. "Check with the credit company. We don't provide the details." Naw, I'll pass on that. On one hand, I'll miss Credit Karma but my brain says I don't need a pretend security blanket anymore because it just doesn't give me the security I want. Take care, Credit Karma, and best to all your workers.

The new password wouldn't let me in so I changed it maybe three more times, being very careful and I still could not get into my account. So now I'm concerned about my breached account and there is no customer service person that I can contact at CK to have them figure out what is going haywire in their system that is precluding me from accessing my account to review the breach. It predicted that it would increase my score by 32 points, the effect however, when I applied and was approved by one of their suggested partners, the hard inquiry lowered my score by 8 points.
Do not trust the Credit Simulator, I think perhaps they have a financial incentive for encouraging you to open new accounts with the companies they recommend. Also, I tried to discuss this issue with Credit Karma and there is no phone number to speak to an actual person. In addition, I also don't like that they bombard you with so many special offers from credit card companies. Credit Karma was well worth it! I find it easy to navigate and it provides enough info showing me that my credit score keeps going up on a monthly basis. Once per month it sends a reminder to check my monthly credit score which I do, and that meets my needs. It does not overload me with emails on a daily basis. It would be better if it could have more than two credit bureaus to show my credit score, like three to make more of a comparison. This is not a big issue to me though.

Let me start by saying I have used Credit Karma for about 5 years, it’s a nice tool to use to view your credit accounts, however if you decide to use them they are consistently 50 credit points higher than the actual credit bureau pulled with an auto, mortgage or any reputable lender. Which deceptive when you think you have a score high enough for let’s say an auto lease but then they pull your credit and the score is 50-60 points lower.

It was aesthetically pleasing with a very modern look. It was easy to fill out the for me, I navigated with ease and the time it took was not long. I was pleasantly surprised with the little information I needed to provide so that was convenient.
However, when I first noticed the site requirements for my personal information I felt slightly uncomfortable because there are so many ways to have your identity stolen in this age of technology. I did feel hesitant about giving my personal information, particularly the need for my social security number and old addresses to verify my identity amongst other personal questions and inquiries. I felt slightly better about the site I used because I have seen multiple platforms of advertisements like internet ads, tv commercials and word of mouth which made me trust that the site is trustworthy. Unlike most free tax preparation software, CK purports to support a long list of IRS forms. The problem is they don't support some of these forms correctly. Last year, Credit Karma was prepared to file my return with a form 8283 (Noncash Charitable Contributions) that needed to be signed by an appraiser. It was, of course, not signed, but they were ready to submit. I had to get the form signed and download the other forms and mail my return in. This year, CK entered on my Schedule A Itemized Deductions form a charitable donation amount that exceeded 50% of my AGI. This is against IRS rules. This amount should have been adjusted to 50%, and the rest of the donation should have been carried over.
Its menu says you can enter the sale of land in your Schedule D Capital Gains and Losses form, yet it provides no screens into which to enter that data. The downloadable PDF version of forms does not reflect what they actually send to the IRS. You have no way of checking what it really sent to the IRS without seeing forms. I was, however, able to download the forms CK did generate without having hit Submit.
Bad forms: It generated only one 8949 form when I needed 3 because of 3 different types of dispositions. The version of form 4562 it generates does not include the miles-driven information for a truck used on a farm. If they're not going to process forms correctly, they should not claim to support them. I ended up doing my taxes manually and mailing them in.

It allows you to see the whole picture. The information provided is valuable- and accurate as I just went through a home mortgage and the scores were correct. I didn't pay close attention before this site. Now I do. But I find the "offers" to be misleading because opening credit lines doesn't necessarily help your credit. I do not like the monthly update email- most of the time there have been no changes. I would rather only know if a change is made.

Credit Karma is the best. It's free and you have an idea about your score so you can proceed on in life without walking in the blind when applying for credit and getting denied. You have an option to fix it beforehand. It's a great thing to know your credit scores. I feel safe when I'm on this site. Also you can get alerts about your report. Credit Karma makes my life more simple and at ease knowing that I can check my scores without paying for it. Continue to do a good job providing people what they need to know. However, it doesn't give all 3 credit bureau reports so you have to go find the other report elsewhere. This way you'll know what's going on with you and your life. Also when looking on other credit websites, gives your different scores. I need to know how accurate Credit Karma is compared to the other sites.

Beware of using Credit Karma Free Tax software. I filed my federal taxes and after filing some sort of bug in the software showed me the forms that were filed had completely different numbers and totals than was input. I tried to contact Credit Karma for help and you can only get responses in email, and the response was not helpful and not about the problem. Of course the IRS rejected my return so I’ve had to amend and use TurboTax to fix the issue. Still waiting on my return to be accepted and it’s been almost a month. Will never ever use credit karma for taxes again. You’d do yourself a favor by completely avoiding it.

That is not my issue since I filed with H&R Block, got $250 more and my deposit is making its way into my account.
My issue was when I tried to log on from my work computer. I had to verify who I was, but the number on my account was not mine. I never changed it and was unable to access my account. Customer service was a joke. They did nothing! I waited until I got home, signed in, changed my phone number back, then changed my password. I like that the site is updated weekly and they also provide your approval chances for certain credit cards and loans. The site is very simple to use and user-friendly. They provide useful information regarding how to improve my score and what negatively impacts my score. But I don’t like that they do not use FICO scores. The scores they provide are lower than FICO scores in which are used by most lenders. I believe they use lower scores to help promote the products they offer. Overall I am very satisfied with the site.

Credit Karma has been good for tracking my credit score, so I figured why not give it a try this year for my taxes...wrong. When e-filing taxes you must submit your federal and state through the same company, and the only way to file them separately is to e-file your federal and mail your state. It would have been great to know that e-filing for state returns in Wisconsin and Michigan are not available through Credit Karma. Every other state can file both except for those two. After filing my federal they stated that State was not available for filing yet, which would have been nice to know beforehand.
No one can seem to give me any kind of answer as to when the only two remaining states will be available for filing, and the customer service has been just terrible. Very unhappy with Credit Karma recently, and the complete lack of customer communication. I will not be using Credit Karma for taxes ever again. My state return is pending several days after to find out I’ve been rejected. I didn’t receive an email from Credit Karma tax about my state rejection, I contacted the (FTB) The California Franchise Tax Board and indeed was rejected 2/18. I was told the date it happened and to go back to my return to correct the information and resubmit e-file.
When I went back to the software online it isn’t giving me a option to edit my state for corrections, it just saying submitted, view/print returns. I contacted the software's tax chat for help several times and they also told me it was rejected and the reason. I explain to them the program will not allow me to edit my return for correction, the software isn’t acknowledging I’ve been rejected and I wasn’t sent a email about it. I ask tax chat if they can troubleshoot or speak to a live agent and they say. "No. Sorry there’s no live agent." The FTB is asking to correct my return and e-file again and I can’t send my state in mail because I’m not given a option. Credit karma needs to fix the software and get live support on hand, I probably won’t file again with them. It took too long to get accepted for my returns.
