It's been like 6 weeks and I still haven't received my background report that I paid for! This is absolutely ridiculous. I'm considering going in and disputing the charge at this point. I've not gotten what I paid for.

During the checkout process they don't disclose the full cost of the service. I was billed an extra $100 as part of the cost, but it wasn't disclosed when I checked out- it didn't appear anywhere until I got a bill for almost double what I was expecting. I reached out and was told that was a standard part of the fee and they apologized...but did not appear to make any changes about the way they charge clients or disclose what you owe. An apology is nice but taking steps so they don't continue to do this to people would be better. So would not having to pay a surprise amount - I'd recommend screenshotting your cart BEFORE you check out. So buyer beware.

This was the first time that I received an expedient background check! Additionally; it was amazing to see the results within less than 15 minutes and/or without having to give a great deal of information.

Checkr's shouldn't have you information because they are totally incompetent to get a background check done in a timely manner. I've been stuck with a "pending" status since the 2nd week of May of 2026, it's July 30th 2026. What is going on with that? I've worked for Amazon, Fedex, and I drive for a event company right now and this places were done in days or within a week. If the CEO is allow this b.s. to go on, what are they really doing with our information.

This complaint is in regards to deceptive trade practices and false advertising by Checkr. I purchased a background check for myself on April 30 because they advertised customers getting results instantly and something like 89% or 98% of customers getting reports within a hour. This information was clearly advertised on their website. After I paid for the report a message on the bottom of the page read that some reports may take 1 to 3 days. Today, May 6, I requested a refund for services that I never received and was denied. I was just offered a generic apology generated by some AI robot. I was never even able to communicate with a real person. Checkr scammed me out of $100 by misleading me to believe I would receive a service that they never provided and also advertised 24/7 customer service that turned out to be a AI generated robot. Please don’t lose your money and be treated like I was. May 10 today. I have still not received a refund.

I needed employment verification and Checkr was listed as one that could do this. After paying for an unneeded background check. They failed to provide the verification. When I tried to contact them, I was unable to reach anyone. These computer-based businesses are destroying what I think should be a big part of business. Customer service.

I can't believe a company would take so long for a background check. It's been 3 months and Checkr still hasn't finished my background check. It says on their website that it takes a couple of days, not a couple of months. It's crazy!

They really don't do a fair background check. They find a name and birthday and run with that. They really don't look into it. Their search are fast indeed but inconsistent with the account and the harm it causes.

Checkr is an incompetent company who can't get a background check done in over two weeks that I can perform myself in a matter of minutes. It is nearly impossible to communicate with a real person at Checkr and fully impossible to get a clear answer as to why they can't do their job in a reasonable amount of time. Checkr should be held liable for the lost wages of every gig worker who experiences actual financial harm due to Checkr's inability to perform the work they are contracted to perform in a timely manner. For reference, I am in Pennsylvania where all court records are available on the state's ujsportal, except when sealed under clean slate laws - which aren't supposed to be available to companies like Checkr anyway. If you are an employer in Pennsylvania, there is no reason to waste your time and money with Checkr.

This company has been giving us constant trouble by not completing the background check. They keep showing the status as pending without even contacting the employer for verification. We have reached out to them several times, but nothing has changed. Very unprofessional and disappointing service. Not recommended!

I used them for 2 candidates - first was ok, but on the second one they charged $95 for NY checks even though the candidate never lived in NY and has lived in Colorado for well over a decade. They did not warn this would be charged or give the option to opt-out of NY checks (they were clearly irrelevant in my situation!). I argued with them and they refused to do anything about it. NEVER using them again. Very low integrity & NO transparency on fees.

This company is NOT LEGIT NOR DO THEY RESOLVE OR EVEN TRY TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE AT HAND... Start with logging into their site... I set up a acct but can't log in saying wrong password. I email them. (Because you never ever speak to them and chat. Well let's say there is a language barrier there.) I said my login is saying wrong password and you say you're sending me a link via email to reset.... 4 days ago and yet to get anything at all from them to this day! My background which I paid for and is for a house that the landlord had to pass is over because it has been DAYS AND STILL PENDING. SO MY REASON FOR ALL THIS IS NOW NOT NEEDED! BUT they stayed in says no refunds which I've yet to find anywhere on any paperwork.

This company nickel and dime you for services. They add on to your bill without your knowledge and run additional services. When you inquire, they send you a generic email, they don't have a number to call which is also a red flag.

Terrible candidate experience. It took weeks (and even months for some) to complete a criminal history check on candidates due to undisclosed "court delays." One candidate even ordered their own records pull from their local county criminal records division and had it sent to Checkr and it was refused for compliance reasons. Email support takes forever to respond. If you are lucky enough to get someone on the phone it's obviously an overseas call center and not an account manager which is useless. There are tons of competitors, look elsewhere for your business's BGC needs.

Bait & Switch! Spoke with a sales rep. Only need MVR's. They sold that to me and then when I get ready to run them, they tell me I must buy a package and MVR's are an "add-on". Went from 9.50 + state fee to MINIMUM of $29.99+9.50+6.00. SCAM! SCAM! SCAM!

I had a very positive experience with Checkr. I've had background checks go through within five minutes or at most, it would be a couple of days. Also, Checkr's customer service has been very attentive. When I reach out to them, they always resolve the issue within a matter of hours.

Checkr's customer service was great. It's hard to change passwords and we needed some more guidance on maiden names versus legal names as well as how best to handle those. They answered our questions. Our experience was pretty seamless and they met our expectations.
