Pass-through fees from third-party data sources are standard across the background check industry and are outlined in our terms of service, but we know that doesn't make it feel any less surprising in the moment. Unfortunately Checkr doesn't have the ability to know which types of fees will apply to a report until it begins to process. This is especially true when it comes to employment verifications as we won't know what will be required to obtain past employment history until we start looking into the company in question.
