I reached out to Scarlett ** (**) asking to please remove my personal information from the blockshopper.com site that they had obtained by scrubbing public records. After a few weeks I finally received a response that they would not remove my personal information without a copy of the police report or restraining order and after they have reviewed these documents. Absolutely horrible abuse of public information.

This website publicly posts names, addresses and other private information of sworn public officials including law enforcement officers. The company refuses to remove this information unless provided copies of employment badges or work identification cards. And if harassment or threats are the result of these postings of private addresses, they will only remove address information if provided confidential court and police records confirming harassment or threats. It is against the law to publicly post law enforcement officers' names and addresses, but this company continues to do so, even after multiple requests to remove. And to make it mandatory we provide them with our badges, identification and court records, is outright absurd. This opens the door for further issues including identity theft.
“Scarlett” at this business is the only contact person listed. When contacted her response is nothing posted on her site isn’t already “easily obtained or available online because it is public record.” So my advice to anyone concerned about this website DO NOT send them a copy of your badge, ID, or court records, hoping to get your information removed. Contact the DOJ or your state’s attorney general's office and file a complaint instead.

Blockshopper.com is displaying my name, address, phone number, email, and even a map to my CA home. I contacted scarlett@blockshopper.com numerous times and they refuse to honor my requests to remove my information. Not only are they displaying my private info against my wishes, but they are also selling my info for profit. This violates my privacy and borders on criminal behavior.

I have been speaking to a Scarlet ** about CA rights of privacy, she is refusing to remove my online information and is claiming it is public which is false and not allowed, I am sick of her asking me for personal information and I am in no way obligated to allow a breach of my personal information online at this scammer site and to provide anything that is private. CA does not allow this. This company is scamming people and very rude about respecting the privacy and rights of others. A lawsuit is very much due.

I contacted Blockshopper to request my family members' names be masked or removed. My request was denied. Since they published my details, two other websites used blockshoppers info. Filed BBB complaint.

I find it literally unbelievable that BlockShopper will NOT remove your information by simply asking them to opt out. They told me it requires crime with a police report first to be be removed. They seem to not understand the danger they created. This should be investigated by the Attorney General!

I have requested multiple times to be removed from this website and they refuse to remove my information, as they state it is "public record". This is a huge privacy and safety concern for those who want to remain anonymous. Someone needs to start a lawsuit against them.

I have been trying to get Scarlett ** to remove my data from Blockshopper for nearly 2 years. First she refused and now she has stopped responding to my emails. I am a resident of California and have repeatedly told her that as a data broker they are subject to and need to honor my privacy due to CCPA 2018. Nothing. I don’t understand how they’re getting away from with breaking the law. But I have filed a complaint with the attorney general of California. If you’re a resident of California, it doesn’t matter if you own property in other states. You can still claim CCPA based on your state of residence. My advice to California residents is to file a complaint with the attorney general of California and at some point a critical mass of complaints will be reached and they’ll be put out of business will be forced to comply for those of us who are California residents at least.

They reject your requests to remove your information, because a it's public information. However public record does not mean people should be able to Google your name and find out exactly where you live. Really dangerous. Will consider lawsuit.

They reject your requests to remove your information, because "it's public information anyways." It's the only site that lists my name and address. I paid to remove my information from all of the other sites. Scarlett ** aka Scarlett ** (Her real name!) Does not care about the privacy of others, but her information is not listed on there!

I've been requesting for my information removed for the past 5 years. Its so annoying. This is the response I got every time: "BlockShopper publishes public records. Property ownership and sales information is listed publicly in multiple places on the internet and in other publications. We get our data from the county-- it is the public record. It's our goal to be accurate and consistent, so we don't simply edit the public record on any request." Not all of my friend's information is available - some of my friends are lucky. So,
2) Property owner and sale info is public, but to access it you have to go physically to some govt office - that itself becomes a proof and people with criminal records in the past might not be able to do that, but with Blockshopper they can. For any other real estate websites like Redfin, Zillow etc they are so much decent - don't provide privacy violating details on their sites.
3) How I wish there was some GDPR kind of law in U.S. that could help get rid such websites that violate people's privacy. This is really really really concerning.

These people are the scum of the earth, they should be ashamed of themselves for making the world a worse place and causing hardship and suffering for their fellow human beings. I followed their procedures asking to remove my information, but they don't even respond. As a result a stalker has been able to commit violence against a family member. They don't seem to care. They are EVIL EVIL EVIL!

They make so called "public information" easier for creeps to access and then somehow try to justify that with no remorse. Pretty sure "Scarlett" is not a real name. They care about their privacy but not yours.

First, my information is not public. It's hidden by the County Assessor and Tax Office due to my employment. I have contacted these folks numerous times and they continue to tell me that my information is public info and that I need to contact my Tax Office and County Assessor. I know for a fact my information is listed as "Confidential" by the state because you can't find it on the CAD/Tax/GIS Sites and I've confirmed it with the Tax Office. Also, with as many negative reviews here, how do they have a 4 Star rating? How is there so many positive reviews to this site?

They would not remove my name and address upon request. They even emailed me back and politely said no claiming it their right as it’s a “public record.” They’ll only remove it if you give them proof that you are law enforcement or have documentation of stalking. I didn’t like that I can’t remove my name and address. My house is not for sale, there’s no reason to have it listed.

The owners of this web site, Timothy J. Landon and his wife Elizabeth T. Landon, make a living out of putting people's lives and their children at risk by publishing home address information. If you are unhappy about this, then maybe you should write or visit the Landon's at their home address which is: **. Their home is located between Park Place and Thayer Street on Bennett Avenue in Evanston, IL. If you visit their home, perhaps since they have three children that they will feel what so many thousands of innocent American homeowners feel by them publishing all our records online for every stalker and pyscho to see.

I have been a victim of identity theft and I have asked BlockShopper to remove my personal information to keep me from getting victimized again. But despite me explaining my situation, they refuse to remove my personal information. If they believe what they say, why does "Scarlett" (obviously a fake name) does not provide true and full name with the email responses? They hide their personal information, but they don't care about anyone else.

After reading everyone’s reviews I’m starting to think that the Scarlett person gets a kick out of all of us complaining about this company and it’s somewhat may be exciting to them but this is really jeopardizing people's lives and destroying people's lives and obviously this person or company does not care. I also have requested my name and address to be removed and the Scarlett person refuses. That’s very concerning.

“Public” information doesn’t mean it should be instantly accessible info to anyone in the world. This company refuses to remove your personal address, creating a public safety danger. People choose to be unlisted for a reason and should have a right to privacy, without being a law enforcement officer, which is the only reason their website will remove a listing. Apparently, they’re protected by 1st amendment but I will not do business with any realtor or other business that works with these horrible people.

Despite spending weeks emailing this company and explaining our 13 year old daughter is being stalked by a child predator online they refuse to remove our information. Our county does not allow property searching by name so if this guy shows up at our door it is because of blockshopper.com Do we actually have to hire a lawyer to deal with this? If anyone is putting together a class action lawsuit know that we are game. This needs to stop before someone is killed by a stalker.

Would not remove my name and home address and sale price. I asked them to remove my name, home address and what I paid for my house from their website. I told them that I had a stalker and problems with people using my personal information and would like to keep my address and personal information private. They asked me to send them my police report and told me that this was all public information so they will not remove any of it. I will not send them my private records so they can use them against me too. I told them it is information that most people would have a hard time finding but they are putting it out there for easy access. They are putting me and my family at risk. This is not a reputable company. They steal your information and make it easy for other third party sites to steal too. I have no idea why a site like this would be necessary. Real Estate agents and people selling their homes do not need this information.
