I recently hired X VAN LINES for moving services from New Jersey to Florida and, unfortunately, my experience was not satisfactory. Here are the key issues I encountered: Delayed Service: The service was not completed within the promised timeframe, taking 16 days for a 13 hour trip, causing additional expenses for displacement and food. It was very cold in New Jersey as well, and I was worried about many of my belongings being left in the cold. I even offered to possibly retrieve my things after a week, but they refused to let me know the condition or if they were in a controlled climate. They refused to even tell me where my belongings were and then stated that it could take up to 30 days, claiming it was in the fine print of the contract. Again, this was an overnight trip from New Jersey to Florida.

Poor Communication: I faced difficulties reaching customer service for updates and had to make multiple attempts to get a response or call from a different number for them to answer. I asked for the manager and questioned what was happening and why my belongings were being held hostage, and I threatened to take further action if I was not given an answer. Then I learned that my items were still in New Jersey. They sent a truck to pick them up, took them to a warehouse, unpacked them, and had them sit for over two weeks. I also believe this is where the theft and breakage occurred. They opened my boxes, took what they wanted, and retaped or reboxed them. I bought jumbo boxes for my comforters and bulky items and was charged for them. I was also charged for tape, rate changes, etc. When I called and told them, a representative said they would look into it.

I called again after sending the receipt and was threatened that if I insisted on her removing the charges, she would double the fuel charge, which she did, adding almost another $700 because I insisted on removing supplies, tape, and boxes that I proved I purchased. To make matters worse, the boxes were used for someone else, labeled with someone else’s name, sent to Texas, and then came back and were reboxed with my items again. At this stage, they also broke down items that were packed whole, like a lawn egg chair that was originally in one large box, and then labeled each cushion, arms, back, etc. as individual pieces. I believe this was done to account for missing boxes of items that were stolen. The damages and breakage are extensive. They also misplaced the pieces and screws needed to reassemble items.

To date, I am still looking for screws to fix my daughter’s new bed set. The brand new sofa bed for my guest room had its entire frame broken. The manager was called and shown this. My 75 inch TV screen was shattered. All my store inventory of electronics and my boutique clothing, all high end name brands, were stolen, along with personal items, even bulk body washes and numerous home decor items. My antique dishes, art, marble side tables, all were broken, stolen or cracked. Pictures of everything were provided to the claims department, and they came back with an offer of $75 despite me providing documentation and easily verifiable comparisons online. My garage is full of damaged and broken items, in addition to the many that were stolen.

Pricing Discrepancies: The final charges exceeded the initial quote by over 300 percent, causing unexpected financial burdens. The manager refused to release my items because the wire transfer payment was still pending, even though I had already sent it. I need my items replaced or would like to start a lawsuit against X Van Lines. If anyone is interested, my email is **. This theft and bullying need to stop. The insurance claim process is bogus. I need action.

There are so many complaints about this company, and they need to be held accountable or shut down. As of March, there were over 25 complaints, but no one is hearing or helping us with the injustices we are experiencing. This company promises to deliver our property safely but is instead damaging and stealing our items or prized possessions. They also lied and said they are not a broker and spoke negatively about brokers. They are a broker and did everything I was warned about and worse when I booked them. Powerful and eagerly awaken action! AVI

When initially agreeing to use X Van Lines to move my household goods, the total price was $7,800. At the pre-moving conversation, a week prior to the move the price increased to $11,000 and when the movers arrived the price increased to $14,410. I asked and was re-assured that they would provide a weight ticket, only to have the movers communicate no-one communicated to them to get a weigh ticket. My house move-in date changed from the initial date. When I communicated the change of delivery date to X Van Lines, I was assured this would not be a problem. Then I was called a week prior to the initial delivery date saying the goods were set to be dropped off and told from X Van lines no one had record of my communication with them about the change in date, even though I was assured multiple times from employees that the change in delivery date would be no problem.

Multiple items were severely damaged on the move, such as my dryer which the top was disconnected from the dryer; dining room table which we cannot use the leaf or extend the table due to the damage; along with many other items. When providing all documentation for damages and compensation, the company offered to pay $75.00.

When attempting to communicate with X Van Lines representatives, I would consistently be told I would receive calls back but constantly would not get a call or communication back. I asked to talk with managers about my experiences but would not get a contact back. When asking representatives why they didn’t call me back, often the responses were that they were busy or sorry that they had forgot. I have 8 different documented instances where I was either hung up on or did not receive a phone call back from the company.

I had a very frustrating experience with this company. From the beginning, I was not clearly informed about additional charges, and after the delivery was completed, I was unexpectedly hit with a significant “shuttle fee” that I do not believe was justified. What’s most concerning is that my building does have full access for large trucks, and I even provided documentation to support this. Despite that, they still claimed a shuttle was required and refused to reconsider or investigate further in a meaningful way.

    It feels like:

    Poor communication upfront
    Lack of transparency in pricing

    No accountability after the fact

When I reached out to resolve the issue, the response was rigid and dismissive, simply pointing back to contract language instead of addressing the actual situation or evidence I provided. Moving is already stressful—working with a company that adds unexpected costs and then refuses to take responsibility makes it even worse. I would strongly recommend others to be very cautious, ask detailed questions in writing, and confirm ALL potential extra charges before booking.

Absolutely terrible experience. I feel completely misled and taken advantage of by this company.

They added a costly “shuttle fee” after delivery and then tried to justify it by claiming the truck could not access my building. That is simply not true. My apartment complex has full access for large trucks, and I even provided documentation proving it. None of that mattered to them. Instead of being honest or trying to resolve the issue fairly, they hid behind contract language and refused to take any responsibility. The entire process felt deceptive, unprofessional, and focused on squeezing extra money out of customers.

Communication was poor, customer service was dismissive, and the way this situation was handled showed zero respect for the customer. I trusted this company during an already stressful move, and I regret it. Be extremely careful before using them. Get EVERYTHING in writing and expect surprise charges at the end. I would never use this company again and absolutely would not recommend them to anyone.

The worst moving experience we have ever had. This company is both a financial scam and completely incompetent. The person in charge of loading our belongings (in Florida) was a true Shylock. The only thing this man appeared to be good at was talking far too much and forcing us to pay a substantial additional amount. By the end of the load up, the advertised "locked in" cost had increased by over $1200.00. We were forced to buy moving supplies we did not need and X Van Lines tried to charge us twice for the one month storage which we contracted for. When our belongings finally did arrive in Minnesota, there was much damage and most of the actual moving of items into our house was done by myself and our family even though we were charged additional amounts for the number of stairs in our house.

Initially, the man in charge of delivery (Chris) first unloaded the wrong load (actually someone else's houshold going to Nebraska). Only after I pointed out that the boxes were not ours and the stickers were the wrong color did he even realize it was the wrong load. Chris was totally focused on being paid the amount due before he would proceed with the unloading at all. The truck arrived after 8:00 PM and, without the help of family and neighbors, the unloading process would have probably dragged on well past midnight. A wholly unprofessional operation and clearly a business focused on cheating people out of additional monies by essentially hold a persons' possessions hostage. BUYER BEWARE!!!

This company is a scam. They sound professional and caring during your initial call. They quote a low price, promise to be with you every step of the way. You sign the paperwork and give them a deposit and they disappear. They called 3 days before the move to go over inventory. I took off some things and added a couple, all miscellaneous small items, and added extra boxes which I had Alton’s them about and suddenly the price is $3,000 higher. Then they called 2 days before the move and change the day of the move. Then they call the day before the move and change the pick up from 1-3 pm, to 6-10pm, which means they will be loading the truck in the middle of the night!!!!

After I complained, they moved the pickup to the next morning. Then they show up 2.5 hours later, demand more money ($4,000 above the price they have already raised by $3,000) and have a Ryder rental truck that will not fit my furniture. So now I am supposed to wait for another truck? And no one will tell me when my furniture will be delivered! I canceled the move and requested a refund of my $2,000 deposit and, surprise surprise, no one has contacted me, even after leaving 3 messages and emailing. This is robbery. RUN from this company, they are con artists, scammers, liars. If you don’t believe me check out the reviews at the Better Business Bureau and you will read my same story over and over. I requested a quote from X Van Lines (Dallas) for my upcoming move and received a response fairly quickly. Unfortunately, the cost was outside of my budget. When I e-mailed to advise that I was moving forward with another company, I received several very rude and unprofessional e-mails from Christian **, a so-called "Senior Moving Specialist." It is not a good look for any business to have their employees disparage other moving companies (BTW, Christian, the information you provided me was incorrect), and especially not a good look to disparage a potential client's decision.

Had I received a genuine response - and perhaps even an offer to review their quote to possibly better suit my needs and gain my business - I may have given them a chance. However, because of this extremely distasteful interaction, plus the numerous other negative reviews and BBB complaints, I will never consider using X Van Lines for future moves, and will also be advising anyone I know in the DFW area to avoid utilizing their services, as well.

DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY! We had an AWFUL experience with them moving from Dallas to NYC and would not recommend to anyone. ALL of our boxes were damaged, we did not receive a box containing multiple valuable items, and the communication was HORRENDOUS. I had to wait HOURS for them to pick up my delivery and did not hear from them until they were supposedly "two hours" away from my apartment.

Little did I know that they were actually six hours away which required me to wait anxiously for an update from the driver (which didn't come until arrival). When he finally arrived, the boxes were severely damaged, with many of my items being damaged and even RETAPED (indicating they were either opened by the drivers and taped up or damaged so badly that they had to be repaired as best as they thought). We later noticed that a box was not even delivered.

Once a rep saw our scathing BBB review of how awful this company operates, they contacted us and seemed sympathetic and would make things right (which we incorrectly and naively believed). After 4 months of waiting for a make-good offer, we were provided a $250 offer as "hush money", despite providing receipts of over $400 worth of lost items (and explaining that family heirlooms were in the lost box). This was the worst experience we have ever had with a moving company and you'd be making a massive mistake for using their services.

Hi there, independent thinker! I also thought I was an independent thinker and foolishly chose to ignore all the bad reviews and red flags. I decided to trust the few good reviews this doggone company has online. Oh boy, did I regret that decision. I spoke with a guy named Justin, who seemed very nice and professional at first. We went over the items that needed to be moved, and I told him there would probably be about 25 boxes of non-furniture items. He said okay and told me he had included that. He then showed me the list, where the 25 boxes were not actually listed—but I didn’t think it was a big deal at the time. He gave me a quote I was excited about. I signed the documents and made my deposit.

Then, on the day of pickup, the crew shows up and tells me: “Well, the 25 boxes aren’t listed, so you’ll need to pay more.” The final price ended up being nearly double the original quote. Do you see what they did here? Completely upset, I reached out to their team. They offered me a “courtesy” discount of $200 for failing to calculate their quote correctly. $200 is about 5% of the total. Very unethical individuals. Sleazy sales practices and a complete rip-off. DO NOT HIRE THEM! LOOK ELSEWHERE.

Called to get a quote - they kept me on the phone for 20+ mins, put me on hold, and then transferred me to a "closer" that quoted me at over $5,500 for a 2 bedroom apartment. There is nothing I hate more than a sales call. I'm calling for a quote, it should be a few questions and then I should get a clear quote within 10 mins max. I had already called around other companies so I know how it goes. This company is the only one that asked for a full list of inventory, which took over 15 mins to go through. The rep, Bryce, was so nervous and weird, it was like he was reading off a script. I know what scripts sound like, I've done cold calls before (and quit because it's icky). So then he gets inventory for all of my furniture room by room, then starts asking about stupid stuff like floor fans, space heaters, and rugs. Then I get transferred to a "manager" and he told me $5,500+ which can be broken up into 3 payments. Excuse me?

This is to move a 2 bed apartment, ground level, 2 hours away (still considered a local move). I'm obviously annoyed, and then he starts asking me what other numbers have been thrown around so that maybe we can work something out. Red flag. So you're just making up numbers, and then "working with me" to "get me a good deal?"

Every other company I have called has quoted me about $2000 or under, and that is all inclusive, 3 movers, and double time for the drive. This company gives GRIFTER energy. I blocked them immediately. And if you're the company and you're reading this, I don't want to hear from you. Don't comment on this post with your fake apologies. They don't mean a thing to me.

My family and I have moved interstate several times throughout US so we have experience with moving companies. We DO NOT RECOMMEND using X Van Lines as the experience was stressful and did not need to transpire the way it could have. Some of the worst customer service we've ever experienced. And very poor communication among their sales, dispatch and moving teams, which are not connected or communicating. Managers overseeing job kept changing as well which did not make us feel assured about the service or condition of our belongings. There is NO ACCOUNTABILITY with X Van lines.

    1. Broken glass on valuable hutch
    2. Upcharging from initial evaluation to end move (began as $6700 estimate, ended up $13,500)
    3. Random X Van lines managers available without any consistent lead for our job, we waited on hold for most of time
    4. Unprofessional and ignorant driver delivering items to Oregon with little lead time
    5. Driver stated he would park along side of road and partially block one lane of traffic IF Police cleared him and wouldn't ticket. We had police come out to state he could just turn on hazard lights, but driver still whined and drove off, which then charged us a shuttle fee and multiple broken items.
6.Driver did not communicate with customers on plan for delivery (with shuttle), instead, customers had to wait on hold for one of the many managers to discuss detail.
7.Driver complained about just about every item he had to do. his crew called him Napoleon because he barks random orders and is often wrong. very difficult to work with.

    8. We are now dealing with the claims department that is yet another separate organization which will provide a response to our damaged items in 90 days!

We would have chosen a different moving company in a second if we had the opportunity.

If only we could rate with a negative number.... This so called mover was rated high with Consumer Affairs. I called X Van lines and asked if they were brokers, which they immediately replied no. Their company did the entire move, from beginning to end. After providing us a $2,400 quote, I sent pictures of what was to be moved. It was raised $500 just to be safe but at the day of moving, they finally showed up at 7:00 PM. We were closing on our home the next day. We were trapped, vulnerable, and they knew it. We had not added one item to the picture of belongings I sent, since talking with them when our rate was increase by $500 (just to be safe). The day before our closing, at 7:00 PM, they arrived and increase our move to $6,450. We paid because we had no alternative.

THEY DO NOT CHARGE BASED ON WEIGHT, AS EVERY OTHER LONG DISTANCE MOVER OUT THERE DOES!!! We were told our belongings would go to their hub in Chicago, then loaded with others customers coming to our new location. We were told it could be 2 weeks before we got our belongings but in all reality 5 -7 days was more realistic. One week, two weeks... We finally hear from them but they brokered our move with a third party mover. When the truck showed and was opened, my wife saw the condition of our contents and I became very concerned. There were items labeled fragile, holding up the entire wall of our belongings. Boxes were crushed and our curio cabinet was actually laying on its back, on the top of the entire wall (10 feet+/-).

There were several items damaged and missing but I will take care of fixing or replacing myself. Please hear this: if you are considering using this unprofessional, deceiving, lying, poor excuse of a mover, please consider what I have written in this review. X Van Lines LLC is terrible. They will steal from you and destroy your belongings. Even the broker mover which X Van Lines hired had nothing good to say about them. I’ve used X Van Lines for all four of my moves, and they have always been professional, quick, and affordable. My most recent move with Geramia and Daniel was by far the best. The guys were friendly, respectful, and incredibly efficient. They handled all of my furniture with care and made the entire process completely stress-free. They communicated clearly, double-checked where I wanted things placed, and worked with a great attitude the whole time.

I WILL NOT recommend this company to anyone. In my attempt to keep this review shorter, I’m going to let my pictures tell the story. There was so much to say that I just didn’t know where to start. That is why it has taken me a month to write this review. What I will say is: Customer service leaves a lot to be desired. The only friendly one I spoke to was my initial contact with Chris, the salesperson, and a receptionist that answered the phone when I kept letting it ring and ring when I could not get anyone to answer. It’s very difficult to reach anyone within the company. After I book the move, I was never able to contact Chris again. A gentleman by the name of Justin said he would be my contact person and he gave me his personal phone number if I had any questions. I emailed him and called him several times, but no response.

They answer the phone by saying moving company or nothing, instead of X Van Lines. Maybe they have a reason for that but looking back now I’m thinking it sounds a little shady, but that’s just my opinion. I was told it would take 3 to 10 days for delivery because my move was greater than 500 miles. (from GA to IL - 10 hr drive by car). I have heard that before so wasn’t concerned. I WAS NOT told the reason it would be 3 to 10 days was because my things were going to be put in a supposed climate controlled storage in Alabama until they could find another load to go on the truck with my things.

I finally got my items in 10 days and there were at least four other customers’ items on the same truck. That might have been OK, but considering how my items looked when I finally got them delivered, it was not acceptable. A lot of the boxes, totes, plastic storage containers were squished, torn, and tape coming off or missing. Writing FRAGILE on the boxes did no good. Some of the boxes were brought inside upside down. There were boxes that had brown tape where the clear packing tape was used, making me wonder if someone had been in it.

Each and every box or tote that I opened was a mess. Looks like somebody opened them up and took everything out and just threw it back in. A few items were broken, a few jars with screw lids were open and the contents all over the boxes, and there were parts of items in one box and the rest of it in another box. Oddly enough, there were two picture frames loose in the truck. How does that even happen?

It’s obvious too many people handled my belongings before they were finally delivered to me and/or they did not respect someone else’s things. I have moved several times and have never had this happen, especially with the amount of boxes damaged. The one good thing about this move was Ricoh, the driver who picked up my belongings in Georgia. He and his crew wrapped my furniture wonderfully, so nothing was damaged.
