I have been paying late for the last 2 years, and I understand that if you don't pay, my things will be auctioned! But since I always pay even though late, it does not give the manager the right to treat me and my wife like dirt! The manager tried all to make it impossible to make my payment today, 2/28/12, before 11:30am. I called since 10:30am and at 11:00am, and the manager told my wife that it's too late and that the people were there to buy my things!
The letter said I had until 11:30am, and she tried her best to delay my pay! I am taking my things out and placing them in another storage where the manager can treat a customer good instead of calling me an irresponsible tenant! I feel that I was treated wrongly and unjustly, but I will do my best to let all not to rent where i rent because the manager rips you off!

My items were auctioned off. When I called the facility to find out what I can do to obtain some personal information I had in the storage, I was told that they would contact the buyer, and it would be up to him if he wanted to contact me. My identity can be stolen from this. How can I protect myself?

My husband needed to rent a public storage last year and we rented one under my name. When he no longer needed it, he went in and paid for the last month. He said the clerk told me he needed to take off the lock, but I was under the impression that we paid off the last month, so I didn't really care when they called to ask us to take off the lock, because there was nothing in the storage. My husband already informed the staff that we no longer needed the storage.
We are buying a house soon so I've been constantly monitoring my credit only to find out that Public Storage sent me to collection for $150, because we did not remove the lock! I was shocked, but I do not want to go through hassles and willing to pay off if they can remove the negative from the credit report, which they refused. The lady I talked to was very tough and refused to remove the item from my credit report even when I offered to pay for the $150 I did not use. I feel being screwed and am very upset. Now I have to pay for some agency, $100/month, to help fix my credit and I'm not sure if it will work or not. I'm not sure if there's anything I can do. If there is, please let me know.

The manager was very nice and kind to me. He remembered my dad from high school by my last name. What a small world! My move in special was $1 which was perfect because I only needed it for 1 month. Everything was perfect. I'm amazed reading other consumer complaints. I don't think storage should be used for years and years. I don't think that is the purpose of storage. Think about it. If you pay per month and add years, dollar amount can be in the thousands of dollars. You could re-buy the stuff you're storing! Stop complaining if you are late due to any circumstance. Your stuff can be sold, that's the way it works. If they listen to every sob story, they wouldn't be in business. I've been in that situation (my unit almost at auction) until I actually thought about. It took me two days to get all my "junk" removed from storage. I've never rented a storage unit again. It's a waste of my money.

I stored my stuff in public storage for over 3 years and was a little late on the monthly payment, not a whole 2 months late. I called the storage company to let them know I was making a payment. I called to check on the auction date and made arrangements to make a payment a little after the auction date and they told me that the goods weren't going to be auctioned. Ok’d me that promise. I called on the auction date and the representative told me my stuff wasn't auctioned. Shortly afterwards I called again and they told me the stuff was auctioned before I could talk to the manager to make the arrangements as they avoided my calls and told me that only a manager could approve.
I am livid as I paid thousands to store my stuff that has sentimental value and practically everything I owned. I am at this point distraught with every PS commercial, storage wars, etc. If I have to go in my garage, I think of the items I lost all the time. I would like a class action law suit or an attorney to help me with this as it's robbery and theft. Please anyone or anybody that this has happened to, let me know and contact me or if you have any referrals for an attorney that will handle the case and a lawsuit. Thank you in advance.

I was a loyal and dedicated employee with Public Storage for almost 8 years. I have received numerous awards and honors over the years, including "Circle of Excellence", Property of the Year twice and other accolades. I was a Property Manager for 7 of the 8 years and also the District Trainer for almost 5 years. During my career with Public Storage, I always followed policy and procedures as directed by the company, always maintaining the highest integrity and professionalism.
Last year I had a major cancer surgery and was out on FMLA leave, then returned to work part-time while still in recovery. When I was released and ready to return to work on a full time basis again, to my surprise, I was fired! I am now being denied my unemployment benefits. The company stated that I engaged in inappropriate conduct.
The company released me on Dec. 19, 2011 and the policy as a resident manager is 3 days to vacate the apartment where I lived. They said that since it was the "Holidays" they would agree to give me till the end of the year. Wow! Weren't they kind?
The "said" inappropriate behavior was due to a $1 move in promotion given to a customer. Customer "A" sold her company. Company "B" did an online reservation to rent the unit that contained the goods bought. My District Manager said I should not have given the promotion and did a name change instead.
Company "A" was renting at the price of $173.00 per monthCompany "B" got the current rate of $119.00 per month
As good customer service and the Public Storage "We Care" program, I felt it was the best decision to give the new customer the move in promotion.
I would advise any employee (especially on-site managers) to leave this company as soon as possible. Public Storage does not care about their employees in any way, shape or form. They are all about the "Almighty Dollar" for the company.

I was promised a special rate by the facility managers at Price Self Storage. The facility managers were either fired, quit or just disappeared shortly after I was given my deal. Since that time, I've spent over three months attempting to find out what happened to those people and why my deal was not being honored. With the exception of Brian and a couple other employees (who were always polite), the other staff have been rude, obstructive, inaccurate and dishonest. They claim to not have my new address that I gave them weeks ago and they claim to not be "able" to tell me that my storage would be going up for auction even though I spoke to them every week. Dealing with Price Storage has been the worst customer experience of my life.

I am writing to inform you of me and my family's decision to terminate our business dealings with you and your company, due to the treatment and extremely disrespectful behavior that has been displayed by the manager of one of your locations on Davie, Florida. We have used public storage for over 8 years now, and have never used another storage company before, other than you over the past 8 years, and have referred other family members to your company to use, because we were used to such good customer service by your company, but on Friday, that was the last straw, and the end of our dealings with your company forever.
My grandmother had rented out a storage unit at your Davie location, in which, the general manager's name is Eduardo **. From what we understand, he is a Hispanic man, with a very short fuse, and an extremely hot temper, which we have been trying over the past few weeks to ignore, but this man has been so rude and disrespectful, not only to us, but to other customers as well, from what we heard today. Eduardo continues to leave the property throughout the day, to go take care of his personal business, or whatever he is involved in, and continues to lock us and other customers out of the storage, while we have to sit and wait for him to return for everyone to get into their storage units, and which, we, as customers are fed up with this unprofessional behavior.
On Friday, January 13, 2012, at around 4:00 to 5:00, we, as well as about 20 other customers, had to sit outside, and wait for nearly an hour for him to return from whatever he was doing, and this happens 3 to 4 times a week, since we have been there, but on that day, I had never seen that parking lot so full of cars. It was as if there was some kind of function taking place in that parking lot. There was no function. It was about 25 furious customers, extremely angry, and impatiently waiting to get intro their storage units, because this man continues to take off, and lock everyone out of the building every week. I ask that you review your video tapes of the parking lot on Friday, January 13, 2012, at around 4:00 to 4:30-ish, and look at these people in that parking lot upset, and having to sit there and wait for him to come back, and let us in. When you review the tapes, if your cameras record, you will see that parking lot full like I have never seen it before, and we, as customers, have had enough of this man and his unprofessional behavior!
I am informing you that I am moving out today, never planning to do business with Public Storage again, and I want to inform you that when I told the woman who was working there today this, she said to me, "do you know that 4 other customers are also moving out over this? That makes you the 5th". 4 other customers moved out today, over this man and his behavior. You had 5 customers move out today, over the rude and disrespectful treatment to us as customers of your business, over this man. We have heard him curse at customers, and throw things in the office when he gets mad. We have smelled Marijuana on him when he comes back from his trips. Marijuana? Are you serious? And this is the man you have in charge of your store? Yes, marijuana on him, then he quickly goes to the bathroom to wash his hands to hide the smell, as if we don't smell it.
We're not stupid, we know what marijuana smells like, but what took the cake is when I was getting a cart on Saturday, and I complained to him that there were no more carts, because one family is using all 4. He got extremely upset, and got rude with me, and I walked out to wait for the carts a ** gentleman that was standing there came outside, and said to me, "do you know he just called you a **?" The gentleman said, when I walked out, he said "yeah, get the ** out of here, **." This was around 4:00 Saturday, there was a ** man standing there in a grey dress shirt, review your tapes, and see it for yourself. I have never in my life felt so degraded as a woman by someone who would speak that way about me, after we are giving them our hard earned money to store our belongings. This man called me a ** in front of another customer? This is the kind of thug you have managing your store? A man who locks out his customers and goes on 3 to 4 lunches when ever he feels like it and comes back smelling like pot? Are you serious?
My in-laws were renting that storage, and I am letting you know we will never use your company again, because of the treatment of this man. The woman we spoke with, Precious, I believe, is a ** woman who works there only on the weekends. She said she told the management she only wants to work there when he's not there! Even his co-workers do not want to work on the same shift with him. He's cursing customers out, and from what we heard ,there is never anything done about it. Well you review your tapes of your Davie store on that day, and you will see it for yourself. 20 to 30 cars in that parking lot, a bunch of angry customers waiting to get in, because he always does this, but to call me a ** is the one that did it for us. We will never use your company again ever, after the treatment we have received from Eduardo ** over the past several weeks!
I want you to also know, that I am contacting the Better Business Bureau, and Fox News over this, and my attorney, and also contacting the corporate headquarters over this matter. Since you will continue to ignore our complaints as customers, we are going to also inform the public about this treatment at that location. Please expect a call from my attorney.

Public storage advertises $1 for first month, but when I secured a storage unit on the 16th and cleared out on the 15th of the following month, they proceeded to charge a late charge and continue running the rent until I paid the late charge. Their explanation was a "month" is only 30 days. Almost every reasonable person would consider a month to be the day before the following date the next month. I feel if the rental period is 30 days, it should be advertised as such. Stating a "month" is a full month.

I have been a client in good standing with Public Storage on 99 South Van Ness in San Francisco for a good three years. My monthly payment has always been timely except on two occasions when they showed debited on time on my bank statements but PS claims they were both a day late.
I had contacted their area manager, Chris ** many times via emails and phone messages to try to resolve these petty nuisances but I was told I have to pay the two ridiculous late fees of over $160, for a technical issue. All these contacts were done through the courtesy of the PS location manager, Al and never once I have heard from the former, except for his automated mails asking me to pay the two disputed late fees.
Meanwhile, they had replaced the locks preventing access to the storage unit. Any typical landlords would have been more intelligent not locking good tenants out of the apartments for a month of late rent, let alone the 'minor' disputed late fees.
I have read several complaints here, including one from the lawyer whom I will be very happy to provide more additional info. I have also filed a small claims case against them amounts to 1-year refund in full for the duration of the lock change which prevents my access.

The business practices of this company, in the area of late fees and refunds is absurd. I would welcome the opportunity to join/assist any group, as suggested in the post of Nadine in Rosindale, CA, that is committed to bringing these practices to the appropriate federal or state regulatory body, and increasing the public's awareness, of just how this company abuses its dominant position, within the self storage market, to the detriment of the public consumer. It has all the similarity of the banking practices that have recently come to light, and resulted in significant settlements, and most importantly enhance consumer protection. I have suffered significant economic loss due to questionable business practices.

As both a former tenant and employee, I have nothing nice to say about this goliath company! I worked for the place for years at several different locations in Chicago suburbs. First off, I never rent a unit if it is not in a sealed climate controlled building if you are in the Midwest! If you don't use climate controlled, you won't have anything to salvage after the mold and mildew ruins everything from condensation, humidity, seepage, driving rains/snows, and roof leaks! Trust me, I've seen it for years and that is why I am no longer with the company!
I was an accomplished manager, loved by upper management and by my customers. I was all for the customer service but it also got me in trouble. I tried to help our customers, giving away pallets and plastic and refusing to rent units that we knew were damaged. The upper management forced employees to rent damaged spaces, knowing full well that the tenants’ belongings would be water logged and moldy by the time they returned. The company only cares about meeting goals, sell 100% locks every month, sell 95% insurance (that doesn't really even cover anything), keep stores at 94% occupied.
Otherwise, your job is at stake and you don't make a quarterly bonus. Just for the record, the base pay for the employees is right around minimum wage and only about 20% of the managers will make a decent bonus each quarter. These employees are so poor. They qualify for government benefits like food stamps! The upper management doesn't waive fees, doesn't hold units out of auction, and doesn't get repairs done to facilities. And that is so they can get their six figure salaries!
Drive by any facility after dark and most will only have a few, if any, lights working on the property. Most will have security cameras visible but you won't see a monitor or equipment to record because they aren't even functional. Check with your local police departments and they will be able to tell you how many times a property has been broken into, usually using the same holes in the same fences year after year. Even I fell victim as a tenant when I had bugs infesting my own personal belongings. Read the fine print in the insurance. It has more loopholes than Swiss cheese. For the record, if you live in the state of Illinois, all homeowner’s and renter’s policies are required to cover storage offsite minimum of 10% of the policy!

I went to the 5200 W 127th Street, Alsip, IL 60803 location and dealt with a Karen. She was very rude and kept dismissing by stating she agreed the company's rules were stupid. She lied about insurance being a state law. I also didn't feel comfortable with the fact that they don't even allow a full 30 days before cutting off your lock if your payment is late. I contacted the Chicago District Manager, John**, who was equally rude about my concerns and asked what I wanted. I told him I wanted a refund, but I was aware the administrative fee was non-refundable. He told me to get the lock and give it to the person on-site and he will refund me my costs. I did so and received a $17.47 refund, but I'm still waiting for my $54.05 refund.
I have called and left a message for John ** every day, but I still have not heard from him.

Two of my online payments to Public Storage have disappeared and considered returned and I was hit with two late fees. There is no trace of the payments to be submitted to my bank and credit card accounts. Besides, my bank never would have returned a payment, even if there was not enough funds on the account. It would have been paid anyway. But I did have funds at all times; the thing is that payments were never submitted!
Online account summary showed a payment but balance has never been adjusted and the payment has been dropped. I never had a returned payment in years, for anything. With Public Storage, I had two on two different cards.
Obviously, I will never use Public Storage again because it is a swindle. They are a bad company to do business with!

I was shocked to receive an information that my payment I made online, on their website, had been declined. I knew there was money in my bank account. I even checked online to see if it tried clearing my account. It didn't appear on my bank statement and no NSF was applied to my account. I spoke with a rep at my bank and she investigated the matter. She did advise me that the transaction very well could not have been completed and therefore, failed. I then contacted the district manager, Chris **, for the second time to take care of the matter. He was unwilling to resolve the matter at that time and even asked for a bank statement showing that I had money in my bank at that time.
When I contacted my representative at my bank, she said that she was unable to give my personal information to him nor any bank information. However, he would like to talk to her or our department that handles the electronic payments he was welcomed to it. I called Chris ** back and he refused to call my bank and speak to my account rep, refusing to resolve the matter timely and efficiently. I have paid on time, with good intentions. However, he failed to see this and argued that they have reversed late fees multiple times in the past. This is not a late fee but a $25 fee assessed for NSF, which again should not be applied to my account which had money in it. It's a big headache. I would advise anybody who is thinking of doing business with Public Storage to think twice about this!

Mold and roaches in Climate Control was forced to put all of my life belongings, including furniture, pictures, brand new washer and dryer in Climate Control in a hurry. I chose Public Storage since they are a national company. I paid over $6,000 in storage fees while caring for my elderly father and suffering through this tough recession. I checked on my things regularly every 6 months. I am currently unemployed as a builder of 20+ years.
When I returned to retrieve my things last 10/1/11, my furniture was covered in mold and roaches scurried. As a master builder, I noticed the facility had not been maintained and after further inspection I have my suspicion it was not built to code. If the unit had been built properly there would not have been moisture coming through the concrete, through the block wall and water would not come under the sill at the door just from a drizzle. Their own door frame was rotting from moisture.
My homeowner’s insurance, Allstate, stopped covering mold while I had my things in storage. Allstate will also be cancelled after having them for 30 years! Public Storage should be responsible since they did not maintain their facility. They have offered me $1,500.00 which admits guilt. Of course they are guilty, but that does not come close to the cost of replacing my furniture, washer and dryer and belongings. I have notified my friends at the local news station and I am writing posts like this. I have written on Facebook. Next, I will have my friends at the local newspaper write an article as I am getting exhausted. Hopefully they will be professional.

I was late with the September payment. I called their call center. I was advised that since I was a long-time customer, Public Storage would waive up to two late fees per year. The facility manager refused to allow me to access my unit, arguing that I still had to pay the late fee, which Public Storage had already waived. This standoff continued in October, when I contacted them. I said that I would not pay another penny, until the facility manager acknowledged the waiver and released my unit.
As of yesterday, the Public Storage facility manager finally acknowledged the fee waiver, but said there's a new late fee due for October. I called the call center again. But this time, I was told that the 'two fee waivers a year' was misinformation. Now, Public Storage is saying it's one waiver every six months, despite the fact that I relied on the misinformation. Oh, and on a previous call, the Public Storage call center rep said that no supervisors were available for me to escalate my problem, then hung up on me. It's a good thing that I recorded all my calls to Public Storage.

I'm a prior customer of Public Storage, which made me return due to great services once before. After this stint with the company, I will never return nor do business with them again.
I had informed the property manager that I was to vacate my unit on the 15th of the month due to the fact that my apartment would be ready on that date. She informed me that if I vacated on the 6th, the fee would be prorated at a rate of $18 but if I vacated a mere 10 days later, it would be a difference of $80 plus a late fee, which, to me, is totally unfair!
When we as consumers rent an apartment, the apartment complex doesn't charge us for a full month's rent, they prorate it from the day of possession. So basically, Public Storage is making double off of their storage unit because they are charging the current renter full month's rent if departing after the 6th of the month and charging the new renter a full month's rent whenever they take possession if the unit doesn't have a current special being offered!
This company is not consumer friendly at all and very money hungry in this poor economy! Beware of Public Storage and may God bless you at this time of need for one another!

A little bit after being told of the $200, I received a call from Public Storage stating that the cleaning fee would be $300. I paid that fee on 6\30\11. I was told I was all current with Public Storage at that time and no further actions were needed.
On or around 7\28\11 I received a check from Public Storage for $300 with a receipt for "tenant refund". Thinking it was a check for over-billing or just a customer refund I deposited the check into my account.
On 9\27\11 I received a phone call from a collection agency stating that my account from Public Storage is in collections for $300. I never received a letter from Public Storage in the months leading up to this that my account wasn’t current, and having been told since my final payment that my account was current, I went on assuming it was. I tried to call Public Storage and they basically told me that it was an error on their part and that I owe the $300 again.
Now I have a blemish on my credit report for their bookkeeping error. I don’t feel that I am responsible to pay for an account I closed out in June 2011. Would small claims court be an option for me here? I have the receipt in which they sent me $300 and it says tenant refund.

My wife and I had been renting storage space from this location for the past six years. A couple of years ago, we were asked to move our belongings from a unit in the 300 bld. that had been a part of the flood here in Georgia. We combined it and checked all our belongings. All was fine.
We then inquired about a larger space and we did get a larger space, moved our belongings, all was fine when we moved our belongings. Sometime during this year, the units became infested with rats and they got into our unit and destroyed our furniture, hoses, and some boxes of other items we had in storage. We were never contacted to be made aware of this problem so we could have moved our belongings out of the unit to a new lot or took some type of precautions to protect our belongings. When I went there, I found that they had drilled out my lock and locked it with their own padlock.
My contract with them had never been updated to give them permission to remove my lock. They just shrugged and said, 'We did it anyway.'
I paid the past due amounts, then they insisted I buy one of their locks, even after I told them I had brought a new lock of my own. The new lock I brought was an 'approved' cylinder type, but they kept insisting I buy theirs.

I have been a tenant for many years. What they are doing is several things.
First, they give a discount to newcomers, but no discount to other long-term tenants. They then, from time to time, modify the existing lease to raise fees, which causes a hardship for many and thus forcing an auction on the units.
Recently, they sent me two notices that my late fee would be raised to a certain amount. I paid the late fee, but then without notice, they decided it was to be more. They are never wrong. They merely sent me a letter basically "rearranging the facts" and trying to justify their mistake when I caught it. Public Storage is not consumer-friendly. If you try to pay online, beware. They would have it set up basically to cause you to pay a late fee by not being accurate, or your payment not going thru. It is done to cause a late fee for them to grab. Beware of their many tricks.

I was contacted due to being behind in the rent at Public Storage. I was told to pay the balance of the account to take it out of lien. My bill is due on the 1st and late on the 10th of the month. I paid the full amount of my delinquent bill and according to my records, the payment was received on the 2nd of June. This was payment for April and May plus late fees. I paid the bill online and according to their system, the amount I paid brought the account current and their system did not show any further balance due.
I, of course, knew that the rent for June was due but at the time this payment was credited, June rent was not late. They claimed they made attempts to contact me by phone but my voice mail was full. This was the case due to the fact that I was out of town on a family emergency. I received a check from the company postmarked July 7. Due to the fact that the company has increased my rent three times within the past year, I thought this was a refund of overcharges that I had been complaining about.
I am disabled and live on a fixed income. I went online to pay the bill and discovered that my unit had been vacated by lien sale. I was never notified by mail or even certified mail that my unit would be sold. My entire life and many personal documents were in that storage. Things that are not replaceable. I need to know if I have any recourse at all against this company.

On December 1 2010 I moved most of belongings into the Public Storage facility at South Bay Plaza in Dorchester, Ma. I have used this particular facility numerous times over the years and never had a problem. $1 for the first month rent of a unit. Upon my relocation to a new apartment I changed my mailing address at the post office and gave in person at Public Storage my change of address as well as my new phone number. January, February, and March invoices were sent to my email address. I came into financial hardship in early January and was behind 2 months rent. Totaling approximately $600, in April when I went to pay off my balance online at http://www.publicstorage.com it said my unit was vacant.
Further investigation revealed that in mid March there had been an auction of all the items in my unit! The auction occurred a few days before the invoice was dated. I RECEIVED NO NOTICE OF THIS AUCTION. No emails, certified mail or phone calls; on my account it was noted that certified mail was sent to notify me of the lien on my unit, yet I never received anything from Public Storage. The auction made a miniscule $200 from a 15x20 unit filled with my entire life. Things like brand new living room set, computer, vintage kitchen dinette, appliances, 3 vintage cameras, hundreds of books, clothing, shoes and purses, artwork, movies, and other various home decor. Not to mention years of my artwork, thousands of film negatives from my photography, 2 sewing machines, family photos, etc..
I lost nearly everything from the past 28 years of life; today I came across the March invoice and realized it was dated days after the auction took place and decided to finally take action. Like previously mentioned the invoice was still billing me for the full amount due with no indication of the auction and my unit being vacated. Public Storage has offered me no information about who or where my stuff has gone. I want some restitution for the thousands of dollars in belongings I had taken from me.

Doug Brunner, the district manager, was told this and I e-mailed a copy of the Bank of America's confirmation that Public Storage deposited my check in their account on 2 June, 2011 to David Hyland, Doug's boss and Brian Devlin, who is David's boss.

I went back into my account a little later, and the $20 balance was placed back on my account. I dont have anymore money right now, because I am drawing unemployment, and I use the last little bit of money. I had to make this payment, but if this $20 is not removed in the next few days, they are going to sell my items.

I have had a Public Storage unit for over 10 years and never late on payments. You would think that a company policy is to keep longstanding customers. Every year, like Clockwork public storage raises the rent by 5% per unit. This is a warning to anyone renting a unit. There are other companies around that the policy is to keep their customers. Public Storage feels they have you over a barrel and you want more out. If you move to another unit, Public Storage will charge you as if you are a brand new customer. That is one for the books.

I sent them a letter certified mail you can verify at usps.Com just put number in at track and confirm
They received letter may 6th 2011, nevertheless I have not heard from anyone after all these years. I told them I would pay a fair fee but no word from them. I was paid there up to May 1st and paid again in Rochester May 1st or second and denied one month free rent promised on internet. So I paid $100 dollars since they have not responded even with my phone number. I must ask you for help. The manager called me back several minutes later stating to disregard the message; it was for a different unit. I went out to inspect the unit that night and much of my property had been taken and damaged.
The insurance company denied the claim in 4 hours, after the claim was submitted because the lock was still on the door. The door visibly shows damage and the drywall inside of the unit have been tampered. This type of burglary/theft has happened to several tenants dealing with PS. They still have not repaired the door or wall in the unit. The property manager didn't care to help.

At the end of January 2011, I rented out a storage unit from Public Storage. At that time I also paid 2 months in advance so my next billing due dates would have been March 9, 2011. Shortly after renting the unit, I received a friend request on Facebook from the customer service guy at the storage place. His name is Hucal **. I accepted. Not long after, Hucal sent me message about hanging out. I nicely declined all offers. That's when Hucal started sending me rude text messages, calling me names and cussing at me.
On March 9, 2011 I called Public Storage to find out my balance and how to pay online I spoke to Hucal ** and he advised me how to pay. He was rude on the phone stating that it was due that day.
On March 11, 2011 I stared receiving text messages from Hucal's cell phone to mine with harassing statements. In the text messages he sends, he uses foul language and threatens my belongings that are stowed in Public Storage. He also requests payment through text using fowl language. Hucal also threatened my account at Public Storage.
On March 14, 2011 5:50pm, I called the corporate number for Public Storage, 1-866-719-9107. Tiffany, a customer service rep in the corporate call center was whom I spoke to the first time I called. When Tiffany answered the phone, I requested to speak to a manager right away. She asked me the problem. I explained and she said that there are no managers in the call center and that I would have to call the District manager or Regional Manager. I asked Tiffany to connect me to a manager. Tiffany was very rude and hung up on me when I was persistent asking for a manager.
I called Public Storage corporate number back again o speak to someone else. From the lady that got on the phone, I asked for the District Manager and Regional Managers phone number. I secured a storage unit at this facility in April 2008. I have been off of work due to illness since February 2010. My payments have been late. In November 2010, I was over 90 days late, and made a payment for $1253.00. I recently made a payment for $639.10 on January 31, 2011 and my check was returned by the bank on February 3, 2010. I received a postcard dated February 8, 2011 from Public Storage letting me know that the check had been returned by the bank and for me to pay my rent promptly to avoid late fees.
Well, Public Storage sold all of my things on February 8, 2011 without my knowledge. I have not received any other mail from them since I received the post card, and I was told today that I would be receiving a letter letting me know that my things were sold. I was told that an ad was placed in the Daily Commerce Newspaper regarding the sale, but, was not told the date of the ad. How can all of my furniture, clothing and other items be sold on the same day that a post card dated that day was sent to me telling me to make my check good? This does not make any sense to me at all.
Everything that I owned was in that storage space, along with all my important papers. I lost my home in 2008 due to foreclosure, and I stored everything in this storage space. I just discovered this site after seeing a commercial of this show. I have to speak from a victim's perspective. I've been a customer with PStorage since 1995. Maintained my payments for many years, incurring the late fees, but managed. Came close to losing one of my units last year, but through God's Grace, the DM worked with me. They still had the auction, but I agreed to have full payment by 12 noon a few days later, and I was able to save my unit. I moved out at the end of month.
My other unit, (I had 4 units) another close call. That location worked with me. Had me signed a release form, and agreed to move out at the end of month by closing time. Had to pay balance in full. Anything left after closing, it became their property. I managed that. Did not lose any of my possessions. That location also was understanding and worked with me.
My remaining 3 units. Allow me to share: All with same company, PStorage. The past 2 years has been most challenging. Had to come to rescue for my family members in a different state. Long story short, my brother was found in Wisconsin with a Stroke. My other brother had major legal issues that I had to incur for Legal counsel. My son's best friend was undergoing major legal drama where if his mother had not called upon my assistance, the results would have been devastating. I assisted each circumstance. It cost me a bundle, but I assisted. Had to take care of my mom, who was diagnosed with Cancer.
Through the financial and holistic support of assisting her and other outside obligations, my funds were reduced to beyond bare minimum. I found myself in a different state of reality: I've become the people I've assisted. Trying to maintain my storage units became a major threat of inevitable loss. My mother succumb to her final breath January 1, 2010. My world was at a standstill. My Storage Unit was scheduled for auction on January 7th. I am now in a state of putting together money to bury my mom and handle funeral arrangement. I tried to explained to the Manager there, they did not care. They sold my storage unit.
I was Num. But, from that period, life was not the same. I had 2 storage units remaining. Helping out one individual who came into my life 2 years prior resulted in a huge hiccup in my personal savings. My income is based on a commission structure. If I don't close, I don't get paid. So, my income was reduced to bare minimum where my monthly obligations could no longer be met. I lost my Home. It was only myself and my 2 dogs.
My son welcome me to his home, but he would not received my pets. (Wow) I told my pets, if you are homeless, so am I. The strain of being homeless, I don't even want to share that journey with you. No time to mourn my mother's death, or the fact that they put my twin brother in a nursing home, and I made a promised to my mother on the phone while she laid in her death bed in Chicago, that I would take care of the family.
One hour later, she passed away. I had a dream about her 3 days later, and when I asked her was she okay, she turn over in her coffin and said she was cold, but she looked at me and said, but things are not OK. Then she closed her eyes. I asked her what did she meant by that, but she laid silent. Little did I know, she was giving me a warning.
Because life has been! But, my journey was a difficult one. After losing my home, and moving my entire household into my storage unit, 2 months later, I lost my Dog where I had to put her down because of a disease that affects older animals. I had her since she was pup. That was a very emotional day at the vet office. It took me over 2 hours to finally let her go. I came there with 2 dogs and left with 1.
Getting off track here, my storage unit was up for auction in September. My bill was $900.00, I told them I only had $500 and if they would accept that, give me a week to raise the difference. They said no. Had to have the total amount. The auction was scheduled for September 6th. I told her that was a Holiday. Then she called me back and said, they're going to have it on the 7th. I told her she would have to put that in writing, but she said no.
I asked to speak with the DM, they denied me that right. They sold my things on the 7th. They sold my history. My complete Household and 25 years of Hollywood Collectibles, Mannequins and Memorabillia. Including my leash from my beloved Dog. All of my pictures, my History of 25 years of collectibles. It is not about money. There were sentimental items that can never be replaced.
When I asked what did it sell for and will my pictures and personal items be returned, they said I had to go to the nearest storage unit to get that information in person. PStorage stole my possessions. I am going to have pursue that one. But, I have 1 unit remaining.
Almost lost that one last month. But the employee at this unit was most gracious. She gave me the contact # to the DM. I spoke with him, explained that I am still incurring a hardship, he understood, allowed me to sign a Release form with conditions: I paid $300 now, and pay the balance in 2 weeks, otherwise I lose all rights. I agreed to the terms, paid the $300, and was able to pay the balance on the due date. I saved that unit.
I am grateful for their kindness and understanding. So, I do not understand why the other 2 units did not offer the same. However, it hurts my heart to think what I've lost. And then the employee had the audacity to call me and speak, I know you have another unit at our other facility that is up for auction. I told her that was not her concern and she should not be concern with my other storage unit. Then she called me in November and said that my pictures were returned but I had to pick it up immediately otherwise they would disposed of it. She is a witch.
And when time allows, I am going after her Legally. I think I have a case with that unit, as well as my unit that was lost in January, as I understand in the Spring, they put the cancelled all auctions for 3 months due to some form of a loophole in the contract and a legal dispute. So, my despair is almost over and I will have my life back, but to those of you who actually make a living off of other peoples Hardships, just think about what you are doing. You have no idea the history of those possessions. All you see is an opportunity to capitalized off of people's possessions and many of the storage units out there, it is also inside assistance.
I look forward to pioneering a law against this type of travesty for the sake of making a buck. In one the previous post, you speak, hard work no. You did not take the time to accumulate these possessions. You merely check the auction date and drove down to make a bid. Then you sell possession that do not belong to you. You want the truth, "You are thieves! Based on this experience, it appears that each storage unit has their own policy. I will pursue them. For what they have taken from me, does not have a price. The employee their by the name of Trina would not allow me to speak to the manager regarding my personal paperwork that was returned. She as an employee had no right to disposed of my personal paperwork. At my other unit where my things were lost, they said they retain personal there for 7 years. Trina says 30 days. Yet, when my things were sold on the 7th, I called them on the 8th and the 10th, and they said no one returned my things.
She then calls me a week before Thanksgiving and says I have to pick them up. I told her I could not get there that week and would be there in 2 weeks, she stated, we're not going to hold them that long. Public Storage - this policy they have of selling off peoples possessions, needs to change. I've loss 2 units with them. The one in January, something had to take place the months thereafter, as they put a stop to all auctions for 3 months because of some legalities.
My research is now beginning. I am not dismissing this. I look forward to a Legal Process with you and the Employee and Manager of that Location. You were wrong! What I don't understand, you can have a public auction and sell to a stranger at a price as low as $5.00, yet you are not willing to work with the tenants there, and allow a structured payment plan. And, if they pay only $5.00, you still have the audacity to send a bill for the balance still due. Thieves. This has to stopped. I can only speak for myself, as I've experienced 2 storage losses with Public Storage. But what about many others. I see the complaints. Absolutely devastating.

In June 2010, I had sold my home and needed to store my Creative Plaything swing set. I did so at Public Storage in Bethpage. During the time I was asked to pay a late bill by Brian. The stress of waiting to close on my home got the better of me and I was very rude to Brian. A week later, I went into the store to pay my (not yet late) bill and spoke with store manager Michelle. When she looked up my account, I asked if Brian was there because I wanted to apologize to him. See looked at the screen and my behavior was noted! He wasn't there but I asked her to pass it on. I had an install and pickup date of Sept 13, 2010 with the swing people. Michelle told me to pay till the 13th or 14th. I chose the 14th and I told her it would be emptied.
On the 13th the swing people came and removed the item and I took the lock leaving the storage unit empty. Again at the office I asked if Brian was there...he wasn't. Again I told Michelle to pass on the apology. A week later someone called from Bethpage and said I had to pay the rest of the month. I called back and spoke to Michelle who right away remembered me and wondered why I was not taken out of the system. She said she would speak to her boss and have it corrected.
4 weeks later on Nov 1, I got a letter from a Collection Agency looking for the 2nd half of Sept rent. It is difficult to get anyone other than the automated prompts but got there collection department. On Nov 8, 2010, I left a detailed message with Margaret and have not got any call back. I left a message today Nov 15, 2010 with Phillis the other collection person. The outside agency was also called and they received no update and the guy there said the clock is ticking on getting a hit on my credit. He gave me a number for Nelson the region manager of Bethpage.
I wait to hear from him. I can provide a receipt that Creative Playthings picked up the item at the storage and the workers can sign that the swing was the only thing in there. But why do I need to do this when Michelle the store manger knows I was gone? I am thinking it's a revenge for my rudeness which I did go out of my way to try to correct. Stay away from this place. If you have a problem, you have a better chance of reaching the White House then someone who can help you.

It has been almost 7 years since November 2003 when I first rented the unit then this is my next visit, September 23, 2010. I continued to make payments and only to find out that when the public storage, Tiffany, was asked if she can open my storage since I received a notice of missing lock and that they replaced it with theirs. At first she said, she does not have the key and it was never changed since according to their records I am up to date and I settled with my account and that my unit never went on auction.
However, when we got to my unit, it was a public blue storage lock and so I went downstairs and looked for Tiffany who was then walking down the hall doing her audits for the day. I told her that she needs to open it up because we don’t have any key. She had a master key and opened it up for us and what we saw startled and surprised us, my 15 boxes of properties is gone. What’s left was some of my photographs, ripped out box and lots of plastic bags. My unit was literally ransacked! I went down to the office and notified her right away.
My cousins who accompanied me that day even went to the budget rental office there to ask if we can refund the size 16 budget rental truck that we reserved and just paid. I spoke with Heather, a training supervisor manager, and according to Tiffany, because she was the only person that we were forwarded to. I asked for copies of my payment history, any ledger that confirms my storage unit was never on auction and also when was my insurance date covered.
Tiffany and Heather made it clear to me that they won’t be able to provide that info and that I should go online. I did as soon as we arrived home and there was nothing to print but payment history of 2009-2010. There is no option for me to click on insurance docs. We called the police and filed a report. This was done while we were on the storage facility. I need some assistance. I was paying the rent the whole time including late payments for a storage unit that does not have my stuff anymore. I was even told by Heather that I was covered with insurance until 2009 and that she claims that they changed the lock in 2008. I asked for documentation when the locked was changed but refused to give me one. It showed that they were the last person who accessed my unit before my stuff went missing when we went to vacate it on September 23, 2010.

It took a few tries because of bad reception but after 10 minutes she walked in, tried the elevator button; nothing. She went to the public storage office for help. There's no one inside but there's a sign outside stating that whoever was supposed to be there would be back at 12:15pm. It's like 11:45am. My mother calls 911 and fortunately the Ewing Police got there in about 5 minutes and used some tool or elevator key to get the elevator to go up to the second floor where I finally got out. We waited with the cops for like 10 minutes but no one from public storage came back and by this time it was well over 98 degrees out. I was soaked in sweat, really frazzled and went home.
I called the regional manager on her work number yesterday afternoon. It's 12:33pm the next day as I write this so no one from public storage even bothered to call me. I just want to know when the elevator will be working so I can get my stuff out of there. I was lucky that I had a cell phone on me. If a 70 or 80-year old person or a pregnant mother had been in there without a cell phone, who knows how long they would've been in there. If there are problems with the elevators then they should put a sign on it or just say so. That kind of situation could put someone's life in danger on a really hot day like that.

I arrived at Public Storage as soon as they opened. When I walked to my storage unit, large roaches were running in and out of my unit. I have never had roaches in my entire life! Upon opening my storage unit, I began to pull out my boxes, bed, sofa, TV, etc. and discovered that my entire unit was infested with roaches. And mice droppings were all over my things. I was devastated and in tears! This is my entire life, my three year old toys, blankets, and bedding; everything was completely destroyed!
I immediately went to the office and asked them what was going on; did they have an infestation problem and what were they going to do about my thing being damaged? The manager brought a can of roach spray to me and said that was all he could do! He said that they were not responsible because even though I did not have roaches or mice, someone else next to my unit could have brought it in with their items and it possibly came over to my unit. He could not do anything about it. He said I needed to pay for new Public Storage boxes if I needed it and he was not allowed to do anything about it.
I went back and forth about this with him and expressed how unfair this was and that my things were damaged. And I explained that I had to drive back to MD the same day and only had my sister to help me move my items that I could salvage. After that, he gave me 10 new boxes. My sister and I had to go through each and every box and throw out what was not salvageable and repack the things that did not have mice droppings. It took us 6 hours. I was devastated! It seems Public Storage was very much aware of this problem within their facility because when I was unpacking, we noticed that there was mice poison packets at the corner of the door of my storage unit which was not there when I initially stored my items the year prior. I have never had mice or rats or roaches ever!
Everything I owned was in this storage unit, and a lot of my items were damaged because of this. He offered to discard the damaged things. I took pictures with my cell phone of the tons and tons of large roaches that were in my storage unit and of the items that were damaged. It was horrific and disgusting! I was just starting my life over and I couldn't afford to get rid of everything and could not afford to replace everything either. I had to throw away half of my life possessions that had sentimental and financial value to me. When I left my belongings at the rented storage unit with Public Storage, my belongings were in pristine condition. When I returned I could not believe my eyes!
I will never, ever store my belongings at Public Storage or any storage facility for that matter for as long as I live. This experience was one of the worst I have ever had. I can't believe such a large, successful company as Public Storage would have facilities as such and do nothing for the customer in such cases. I paid a total of approximately $1,860 for the year to store my items! What a rip off! I lost a lot. I had to drive back to MD the same evening with the salvageable items and never could replace the items that I lost. I contacted the District Manager for this store and to date never received a return phone call, much less an apology letter!

I was told in the beginning of renting that I had to take the rental insurance which I did not need and I tried to remove it at one time to save cost, and I was told by the locating Manager I had to have it. Today (May 5,2010), I went online to pay my bill and my rental cost went up with no notification. I called customer service (because I could not get an answer at the location or no voicemail) to find out why. I was told a letter was sent out (March 24th) stating there would be an increase.
I asked her to remove the insurance which was about the amount the rate went up. She said I had to go to the location to have it taken off. I told her I had asked several times and again I was told it could not be removed, so over two years I have paid approximately $170.00 over 2 years I did not have to pay. She told me she would note on the account that I was told the ins. could be removed. Now I have to make a special trip to have this removed. I also told her under the present economic situation I felt it was unprofessional to raise prices. She again said I was notified. The group is extremely unprofessional and sneaky with their extra fees for processing with the $1 second month. I would not recommend them or use them again they are crooks!

My personal property was stolen, I have been a customer since June 2009. On April 28, 2010, I went to Public Storage to collect my property and found that I was robbed, they took almost everything that was of value, what gets me was the locks were not tampered with, broken, or cut and that the people who did this had so much time to go through everything in my storage and take what was of value. Since I was late on my payments, my insurance contract was not valid. I asked how this could happen when I'm thinking my belongings are safe and locked. I had everything I owned in this unit because I moved from Fairfield, CA to South San Francisco.
The items taken was big and heavy and they had to have a truck to be able to take this and not be able to carry this out. I asked the employees on a security system, they told me they did not have one on that end of the facility. I questions how can that be, my unit was the most expensive unit to rent monthly and with that I thought it was secured. The amount loss is way over 30,000 dollars and all they told me was I'm sorry. I filed a police report and I even notice my back door unit was tampered with and they didn't notice that when they do their daily security checks at the premises.
I even questioned that there was a time when there front gates were not working and was being repaired. They did not question no one coming in and out of the facility and their response was they don't have time to watch everyone. I am very appalled by the customer service, yet alone the security on the premises. I lost almost everything I owned and with no explanation. The economical damages was the monetary time I spent over 20 years of my hard earned money that is now gone, physical damages are they just trashed all of the other stuff and broke things just because.

They called me twice between then and the first of the month (4/1/2010) giving me a "courtesy call" telling me I need to vacate by 4/15/2010. I vacated on 4/12/2010 at 8:30 p.m. I am new to renting and didn't know that I had to take the cylinder lock, as I only took the pad lock.
I told them that I would vacate and they never called me on 4/15/2010. They called me on 4/19/2010 and told me I owe them $50.00 for four days. The consequence is that I am out of fifty dollars and they didn't extend a customer courtesy to me as a new client. I feel they were already trying to rip me off because they told me if I didn't vacate on 4/15/2010 and stayed until 5/1/2010, I would owe $90.00. Huh? I think they are ripping people off. These prices are quite ridiculous.

I have incurred a late fee, because of this also. They are making me spend more money on late fees, and are trying to make me lose my things. If I can't get to a public storage to make a payment, I will lose my belongings. Is this legal, when I have called them, and told them I cannot get to a public storage to make a payment? Public Storage had systematically hiked my rent twice a year on average over the 6 years I'd been their customer starting in the early 1990's. During that period of time, the average inflation was 17%; the increases by Public Storage were 51% -- with the result that I was paying $25/month more for my unit than the advertised price (of $73) on their website for an identical unit on the same floor of the same building. Needless to say, it left me feeling screwed.
The manager of my local Public Storage was powerless to help: Rent increases are doled out by corporate, so she gave me the phone number for the regional office. I left two courteous messages with the district manager over the course of a month. I spoke to her once and she said she'd look in to it. Besides being snappy and vulgar (muttering "oh **" to herself when the computer was slow), she didn't call back, didn't resolve the issue, and didn't remember me. At long last, I got through to the regional manager who offered to reduce the rate to $81, but wouldn't reduce it to $73. Corporate would let her give no more than a 10% reduction. The only way I would have been able to get the advertised price was to move to another unit down the hall. Economic consequences are that I'm paying $100 more per year for my storage unit than a would somebody who walked off the street.

I have my personal belongings stored in a climate controlled unit at 4501 SW 54TH Street, Ft Lauderdale, Florida 33314, phone 954-581-9454, Unit #A25.Public storage hired an outside company to come in and scrape old insulation from the ceiling of the area where my unit is. On March 12, 2010, I arrived at my unit to remove some items. When I opened the door I was met with all my items covered in a fine dust of insulation particles. Red couches I own now look pink. It is on everything and I cannot imagine how it will be cleaned. The company says they were not aware that this company was scraping and blowing insulation over occupied units until a customer complained. I wonder though how you could not know of something being done on your property?
They neglected to notify the people with the affected units. I was not even able to get the manager to call me back, she instead had one of the clerks call me and tell me they could offer to put mattress pads over my things that are already covered in insulation! I think this is absurd especially because they should have done this before the work even started. It seems I have no legal recourse according to my contract but I at least expect the company to help me clean and hopefully salvage my things.
I have never been met with the level of disregard I have been shown by this company. I am going to incur a huge bill to get these items cleaned, not to mention the risk to my health for breathing in old insulation particles. They are unwilling to help me at all other than providing mattress covers after the fact. If I would have known what was going to happen, I would have covered the items myself.

I rented a storage unit at the Public Storage facility in Upper Darby, PA. I was told that there were cameras, private gate and 24-hr security guards. However, I still got insurance on my unit. So in August 2009, I received a letter in the mail and a phone call stating that they would be changing the locks and our keys would be in the office. I had to work that day and couldn't be present when my locks were changed. I was also told that the changing of the doors and locks would be video taped.
I called the district manager and she assured me that no one else had my key and I was being silly for being extremely upset as no one was stealing my stuff. She also stated that she would credit me $100 for the month of October. I demanded my lock be re-drilled. When I was finally able to get into my unit a week later, to my surprise, all of my stuff had been stolen. I had a very full one bedroom apartment stuffed in a 5 x 10 unit. My unit was on the 3rd floor and all the way in the back.
So whoever took all of the belongings had a lot of work to do to get it out. So I called the police and when the officer showed up his reaction was, "Why do you have your stuff here anyway? 200 people have been robbed." Like that is common knowledge. So I went into the office and the property manager was just ignoring me as I was saying "all of my belongings have been stolen." She finally turned around and asked me, "What do you want me to do about it?"So I started calling the regional VP., I called the Kathy ** but she was nowhere to be found. I even called the office in Maryland. According to the office in Upper Darby, they left a message September 1, 2009 stating my door had been tampered with. I checked my phone records and voice mails and I did not receive any calls from them on that day. My phone is always on.
So after speaking with the regional VP several times, he said he would look into getting me my $100 credit. So I went back the following week to collect the one bin and box I was left with. I asked the ladies in the office about the cameras and was told that "there are 3 cameras. One facing the ground, one facing the dumpster, and one recording the office." Really? And according to Jim **, someone rammed the gate and that is how they got in. But it is an iron gate and there was no damage to it. However, it had been left open on several occasions I had gone to my unit. I am convinced that it was an inside job and I still did not receive my $100 credit and they stopped returning my calls the moment I terminated my lease.

I called on the 29th and 31st to let them know I moved out. I was told I did not have to do anything else that they would inspect the unit and that was all. On September 14th I received a call from Public Storage asking if I was going to pay my rent for the month of September. I told them no, that I had moved out. I spoke to the Property Manager and she confirmed that they had screwed up and not marked my account as moved out. That she would have to contact the corporate office to remove the charge.
About a month later I received another phone call from a Collection Agency for the payment. I again contact the local Public Storage office and they told me it would be removed, to ignore it that it would take several weeks to be cleared. I checked my credit report two days ago on the $51.53 is listed as Under Collection and Past Due. I've called Public Storage and left messages without any success. I immediately went to the Public Storage office and they said, "Oh, we called you because we noticed your storage unit had no locks on it so we put a courtesy lock on it for you." Then they went with me over to the unit to take their lock off and open it and I immediately noticed that my big screen TV was missing! And later I find out they also took my stereo system as well. Of course, I became extremely upset at this point but felt a little relieved because I did remember that I had purchased insurance. So I filed a report with the police and contacted the insurance company and they took the report.
They then got back to me about 2 weeks later to tell me that I did not have enough evidence and that my claim was denied! Okay, what type of evidence am I supposed to have? Did they think the thieves were going to leave the locks there for them to fingerprint? I personally think it was an inside job; however, I have zero proof. So I dug around on the net a bit and come to find out that this has become quite a habit with Public Storage and that they do not usually honor their insurance policies. I would be very interested in filing a class action suit against them.

I started renting my storage towards the end of August. Every month, I started receiving letters in the mail from them stating that my unit was locked improperly and they replaced it with one of their own. In November 2009, I went and bought a lock and put it on my unit. Then just 2 days after I did that, I started receiving letters and phone calls that my storage was missing a lock and that for security purposes, they were placing a lock on it and that we needed to come and buy another lock.
So basically, every month, we had to replace a lock for no reason whatsoever. December came around, and we were getting calls from them again. But they had told me a week prior that they had replaced my lock with one of theirs. But this time, they said that my lock had been cut off and they replaced it with one of theirs again and that nothing was missing and everything was still in my storage.
When I came down to the storage to buy another lock. I discovered that there were tons and tons of things in my storage that had been stolen. The office was not helpful at all. They just told me to file a police report with the police. Then I asked about my insurance policy, and then they said it had been terminated. I asked why, and the lady said to me that the system had terminated it for being more than 45 days past due.
On my policy they gave me when I first got the storage, it says if you are 10 days past due, they begin to put a lien on your belongings and at the beginning of the next month, they will have a public auction. So if I was 45 days past due like they say I am, then I would not have my storage at all. They also have cameras around the facility, and they keep track of who comes and goes but were not willing to share the information with the police or my self to make a report. When it says that in order to rent, you must purchase the insurance. But she told me if we had homeowners insurance, then we could get our insurance policy back.

I received a letter from Public Storage dated June 10, 2009 (copy attached) stating that they would be doing upgrades/repairs that would impact my unit and I was to drop a key off to the Public Storage office, because they would be replacing the locks and I would be getting a new lock. I dropped a key off to the office. I was never given a new lock; they just took my key. I have all my belongings in this storage unit so I do go into my unit at least once a week since I began renting this unit on July 1st of 2008.
In the past, I have rented a small unit and my parents also rented a small unit. They sent out a letter last year stating that they would be doing some work and if we wanted to cover our things up in the unit to do so as to avoid getting things dirty from the repair work. In the past, I have never had a problem with any type of dust in my unit. I was in my unit around the middle of May 2009 to go through some things that I was to put in a garage sale. After the sale, I put some hanging clothes that did not sell and laid them on top of my couch so they would be ready for another garage sale I was going to put them in around the middle of July, which I never did end up putting them in the sale, because they were all dirty and I wanted to leave everything the same so people could see the damage.
When I went to my unit on July 3rd to get some lawn chairs for the 4th of July parade, I saw the contractors doing some type of work on the unit across from mine. When I opened my unit door, I saw a thick coat of cement dust all over my clothes, furniture, and grandchildren's toys that were in a net type toy box. I took my couch cushion and tapped it and all the dust came flying out. I was very upset, because this were all my belongings and there was cement dust everywhere from the front of the unit to the back where my mattresses were. The hanging clothes that I had just put in my unit a couple of weeks before were covered in cement dust, which just proved that the dust was not just accumulated dust.
The lady in the office was busy so I went home and talked to my mom about it and then called the office and they told me I needed to call Dan **, the District Manager of Public Storage. They gave me his number. I called and left him a message. I went in a couple of days later and took pictures of everything in my unit. Dan called me back about a week later. I asked him why the letter they sent out did not say anything about covering our stuff up like they had done in the past. He told me that he didn't know what the letter said because he didn't write it. Yet it is his name that is signed at the bottom of the letter. Dan told me that it was not Public Storage's responsibility; it was the contractors' and he said he would call the contractor and have him call me.
Greg, the contractor, called me and we set up a time to meet at my unit so he could take a look at it. On July 20th, my mother and I met Greg, the contractor, at the unit. He said he could see the dust and that he could try and clean it up for me. I told him that there was this cement dust in my couch, recliner, mattress, clothes and that wiping them down would not work for me. So he told me to call him when I decided what I would like him to do.
I then called the Attorney General's office and they told me that it sounded like it would be Public Storage not the contractor that would be responsible. I then called Dan from Public Storage back and told him that I spoke with the Attorney General's office and what they told me. He asked me what I would like to fix this problem. I told him what I would like done (estimate attached). I emailed Dan the pictures and the estimate replacement costs for the damages to my unit.
Dan called me back about a week or so later and told me that one of the guys from an office in a different state flew in to look at my unit with Greg, the contractor. Dan said that after they looked at it, they said there was not any abnormal dust in my unit and that they were willing to offer me $200 and 2 free month's of rent. I told him that was not an acceptable offer to me due to the fact that I would have to get a new mattress and my couch and recliner professionally cleaned and some of my clothes dry cleaned, plus all the time it would take me to clean everything up in there. Dan said he would tell them I declined the offer. I also asked him why I was not informed that they would be looking at my unit, because I would have liked to have been there. I also told him that from here on out, I do not want anyone in my unit without calling me first.
On July 29th, Greg, the contractor, called me to tell me that I needed to come to the Public Storage office and get a new key because they needed to cut the lock on my unit to get in there and fill some cracks so they replaced my lock free of charge. I got off the phone with him and thought why didn't they call me and who gave them permission to go in my unit? So I called Greg back and asked him who gave him permission to go in my unit, and he said that Dan ** gave him permission. I then called and left a message for Dan and also emailed him asking him why he gave permission to go into my unit when I told him that I did not want anyone in my unit without calling me first. I never got a response back from him. I went to the office and got my new key and looked at the unit. There was no work done inside my unit so I don't know why they had to cut the lock.
I have attached a copy of the estimated costs to repair and replace my belongings that were in my storage unit. I don't feel that it is an outrageous request considering that all my stuff was covered in cement/paint dust. The contractors sanded the old paint, filled the cracks along the outside of the whole row of storage units and then sanded the cement again that was filled in the cracks and painted. Cement dust is harmful to the lungs when breathed in and it is in my furniture cushions and all over clothes. The pictures don't do this damage justice, because it's hard to see the whole picture of this damage.
I feel that they should have put in the letter like they have in the past about covering belongings in your unit when they are doing work. This is not just regular dust that may have accumulated in my storage unit; the cement/paint dust that is all over my belongings is a direct result of Public Storage's failure to inform their renters of the work that was going to be done. The letter they sent out did not say anything about filling cracks and sanding or to cover my belongings. I did file a complaint with the MN Attorney General's Office and today I just filed a court claim. There is some more to the story, but I think all that I wrote gives you some idea as to how Public Storage deals with customers.

She then started talking. I asked her why she said that, and she replied, "I don't know what you're talking about." I asked to speak to her supervisor, and she said her supervisor wasn't available. She kept being rude, got kind of loud with me, talked over me, then disconnected my call. I called corporate and left Debra a message a week ago. She has not returned my call. I am still irate. If you can avoid PS, do. There are other storage companies who would love to have your business. Don't be fooled by the $1/first month scam either. They charge you administrative fees and you have to buy their locks, you can't use your own. Your first month will cost you $50-$60.

I chose Public Storage because I was going overseas to Amman, Jordan to study Arabic. Within the first week I got robbed in Amman, Jordan, and, though I explained this and had a police report, Public Storage would not let me Western Union them the money. And after placing a $100 lien, they sold my storage cube within the month, making a total two months rented.
I was desperate and had a friend back home money order them. They claim they did not receive the money order my friend back home sent in time to stop the sale of my cube, though admit receiving it, and the website led me to believe it had been paid. They claim this was a communication error. I came home to a few pieces of mail, the last one being a notification that my unit was sold. The one before it was a notification that the lock was tampered with or missing. It did not elaborate. There was no notice of intent to sell. They claim this piece of mail was returned to them. The last piece of mail was a check for $135, which was a punch in the gut. This was the one on Ft. Meade road in Laurel.
What makes it worse is that customer service and the manager won't release the name to me of the person they sold it to, even though this person has access to my vital information, and claim they are unable to reach the person. I am devastated and crushed, really. I just got out of the AF and that was all I had. That was the only picture of me with my deceased father. I am afraid of identity theft now because they sold my medical records and personal records. I am worried about the uniforms and military records falling into the hands of terrorists or insurgents in our country.

They said in their records it shows that I checked out on 04-30-2009. The name of the property manager that checked me out was **. Unfortunately, I changed my phone# and Public Storage wasn't able to contact me. I didn't feel like I needed to give my new cell # when I checked out b/c there was no reason for me to be contacted by them since I trusted ** (very nice property manager) would close my account. I paid all my payments in full every time. I never had any late payments whatsoever. I was very pleased at the service provided by the Public Storage until this incident. I talked to a lot of different people including ** who I believe is the district manager today and he said he can't help me without any receipt and only advised me to pay or else my credit will be jeopardized. I would really appreciate it if somebody can respond to this asap.

First, I would like to mention that the contract is under Larry and Sylvia **. My last name was spelled incorrectly. The correct spelling of my last name is **.
I rented space #**. This unit is one of the two that I rented from this location. I am fully aware that storage facilities auction off belongings that are not paid for by the consumer. I am also aware that it is up to the business to notify the consumer before this action is taken by the business. Public Storage did not take the proper steps to notify me of the auction allowing me to respond appropriately as a consumer who desires to keep their things. They had no problem informing me of the auction of my first unit.
On July 2, 2009, I made a payment on my storage unit. The cashier behind the counter said I could pay the remaining balance at a later date. On Sat, July 10, 2009, I received a letter (dated July 6, 2009) stating that my unit was found without a lock. This lock was not removed by me or my husband. On July 13, 2009, I received yet another letter stating my things were auctioned. I do know that the tenant is to be notified of an auction, I was never notified. Not through a phone call, letter or public notification. I was not informed in writing of such an auction.
This business has not had any past problems contacting me via phone. Now their defense is that they've tried to contact me by leaving messages. They do not claim to have spoken with me, only that they've left a message with no return. This seems to be the easiest way to claim they tried to contact me, claiming to have notified me of the auction. Yet, they had no problem informing me through the mail that the lock was "missing" from my unit or the auction had already taken place. The unit contained many personal items, things that cannot be replaced or duplicated.
It seems as if the business took it upon themselves to assume that I no longer wanted my things. Payments owed were not beyond the allowance stated on the contract between the consumer and the business. Their actions were outside of the agreement/contract. This is illegal. They claimed to have posted the auction in the Inner City Express or the Inner City Press. This announcement cannot be found.

Well, I have to agree with everything you guys said. Dumb me stored with them for two years (it was an old car) and had no issues, so I decided to work for them. As an employee at PS, I can tell you that, yes, some of us do have attitudes. Yes, 90 percent or more have some type of infestations. Yes, every PS location nationwide has had multiple break ins. And, yes, no one stays because the pay is not very good for what we do. My bosses care less about people and more about the bottom line more and more everyday. I am not an angry employee; I have been disciplined for "caring" too much for my customers. I have also even been known to "misplace" auction papers for my customers to give them more time. If this economy would get a little better, I would just quit. I apologize to all of you who have had a bad experience with PS and I wish it was a different place for the workers, too.

In March of 2004, I scaled down and put all personal belongings in a Public Storage facility in Middletown, NJ. Two years ago, my children went to the unit to take out certain items for themselves. This year, on Easter Sunday, my children went to the unit to begin the process of moving our belongings to Greenville, South Carolina where we now live. They opened the unit to find mold everywhere. I flew to New Jersey from South Carolina and documented pictures were taken. I called my lawyer to read the contract I signed. I did not take out insurance because it was for fire and theft and not mandatory for belongings.
I also consulted and paid $300 for Expediant Environmental Solutions to take samples of the mold. The results were heavy Aspergillus species and Penicillium species. They told us that we are not allowed at the unit unless suited up. Public Storage told us in more ways than one that it is tough and I am responsible for removal. How can I go into my unit being a 61-year-old and a husband of 62. I want them to help in someway to remove and clean what I can salvage. I have 40 years of slides, pictures and last words of my Father on film. I have expensive china and silver, couches, tanning bed and anything else that anybody may have in their home. I flew home completely devastated.
The experts told me that I have been paying $200 a month for a climate-controlled facility, indoor one as a matter of fact. They feel that there had to be a leak or they did not keep the climate properly set. Now what? The rent is due on June 1st for a dumpster at this point. A mold company wants $8,000 to put belongings in a pod, take it to some premise to be cleaned, with a family member so they can see what is being done. That is insane. My children live in homes in the New Jersey area.

I'm a truck driver and I've had a storage unit going on three years now at this location. They constantly changes employees. Needless to say, there are some new people there now, one Hispanic guy, one Indian guy, a mixed female who is the manager named Nicole and a white female named Sheree. The first time I found this out was in late February when I went inside to pay the monthly bill. There was the Indian guy who didn't know what he was doing. I had been waiting over 30 minutes just to pay the bill. Nicole came in (who lives onsite) and was little help. She botched selling me two boxes and had to make a refund separately, then had to ring up the monthly rent.
By this time, an hour had gone by and a crowd had grown in the office. It was the first and everyone wanted to pay their bill. I even tried to help her out and let customers skip me! I ended up leaving my driver's license there and she didn't even bother to call me about it. I had to call her! She took her personal frustrations out on me saying out loud one day, "You look tired." I mean, what type of manager acts like that? They always have bad attitudes and made ignorant remarks every time I come into the actual office. In addition, in the past, when I go to my unit which is on the inside, one of them will always come and close the outside door (so I can't get air inside of the hot building) and walk up and down the hall to watch what I'm doing in my unit.
I have asked for the manager above Nicole but she has refused and I'm just sick of the poor service, minimum wage attitude and other bull. I would not recommend this site to anyone. Nicole said out of her own mouth that in December of 2008, they had 23 break-ins! I'm moving out as soon as I can and will never use this chain of storage units, period!

On or about Jan. 19, 2009, Public Storage at 400 Nepperhan Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10701, experienced a flood of incredible amounts of water due to the sprinkler systems' pipe bursting. The flood was caused due to the gross negligence by Public Storage due to: lack of climate control in the facility, an antiquated improperly maintained sprinkler system, negligence of employees in the location, who were literally "asleep at the switch while the flood of water took place, improperly maintaining the dilapidated facility, including leaking roof, leaking floors, and warped support beams, making the structure unsafe for humans and property.
Moreover, Public Storage officials, to the highest level of its Directors and Officers, as advised by the District Manager, Richard **, affirmatively sought to cover up this water damage scandal. The egregious behavior by Public Storage and its senior Directors and Officers includes: not calling, emailing, or in any way informing its customers with property at the facility of the damage to irreplaceable personal items, in delaying removal of the water due to a never-ending cost cutting mentality and a continuing "cheapness" to remedy this terrible situation, in affirmatively lying to customers about the cause, the cleanup, and the extent of the damages, in causing dangerous carcinogens like mold, mildew, and upon information and belief, ASBESTOS, to be released into the air and on customers' property; and many other terrible corporate misrepresentations and abuses that I will be putting into a Class Action complaint against Public Storage, its Directors and Officers, and its District Level managers.
Finally, also to be included in my Class Action complaint is that Public Storage misrepresents the SIZE/Dimensions of all of its storage units - the units are not 5' by 10', 10' by 10', etc., but much shorter in dimension. Public Storage knows this, yet it affirmatively misrepresents this to customers, thereby committing violations of Securities laws, state unfair business practice laws, and false advertising laws, among other lies the corporation commits daily.

I went to this location to obtain pricing information on storage units on 1/26/09. The young man gave me a pricing on a 10x5 storage unit of $79.00. The special was $1.00 for the first month rent and a $22.00 administration fee. I returned on 1/27/09 with a car load and prepared to rent a storage unit based on the rates quoted. I was then taken through the rental procedure and then told that there was a required monthly insurance charge of $8.00 for the rental of a storage unit. I told Grace that the young man, also present, did not advise me of any required insurance fee the day before that I had inquired, and that I was not in need of insurance and did not want to pay this monthly charge for I was not in need of insurance for this unit.
The young man then said if I do not want to pay this required monthly insurance charge, I can go somewhere else. I was not happy, but was not in a position to argue for I had come to Public Storage with a car filled with boxes. I was given no choice, but to pay this required fee if was to be given a rental unit. On this evening, I read my contract and it plainly reads that insurance is the occupant’s sole responsibility. I returned to Public Storage on 1/28/09 with my brother whom I had discussed this matter with. We told Grace, the young man not present, that we had read my contract and that it states that the insurance was my responsibility, and that in this contract, Item # 4, I have the right to waive insurance; and that according to my contract, they are not able to require I purchase this insurance as part of the terms for rental.
I asked her to show me where in the contract it states that it is mandatory in order to rent a unit to pay this $8.00 a month fee for insurance. She stated it was not in the contract but that it came directly from Corporate, and they are trained to require this insurance fee with all new rentals. Grace said that I would need to speak with ** regarding this insurance fee that is charged to ALL new renters. I told her I would go to my car and call the Corporate Office to inform them of this mandatory fee that is AGAINST COMSUMER PROTECTION LAWS. I then left the office and went to my car to call Corporate. I spoke with customer service (the representatives’ names escape me at this time but will call my brother for he will remember and get you her name), and we were on speaker phone with her.
I addressed this mandatory insurance fee that is being charged that is not part of the contract. She put me on hold a number of times as we went back and forth regarding what had occurred over the course of these days. She finally came back and said that I have the right to waive this fee if I were to initial the contact indicating such, but that I would not be reimbursed the $8.00 that had been charged to me; but that there would not be any future insurance charge. I told her I expect my $8.00 to be credited to my MONTHLY RENTAL charge and that they could not keep this money that was illegally charged to me. I told her that she was also missing the point, that this location is not renting unless this mandatory fee is paid, and this is the matter that needs to be resolve.
She then told me to go back to the office so she could speak with Grace. I did, only to find that Grace had locked the office and placed a plastic clock sign on the door that read return time of 4:30pm. It was approximately 3:30pm. Grace knew that I was on the phone with Corporate for I had told her I was going to my car to place this call. I told the customer service representative that I had been locked out of the office. She then put me on hold, came back and said that I would have to speak with **, the Regional Manager. When she said this, I became completely frustrated. She said she would no longer speak with me, and hung up. I am in hopes our call was recorded. This is a matter that MUST be resolved, and I am prepared to proceed with full force.
These are very hard times that our community, family, friends are facing especially when it comes to the loss of homes and the high demand for storage units. I am certain that, as I, hundreds of tenants of this ONE location are being charged this mandatory insurance fee of $8.00. This REQUIRED monthly fee must be addressed and stopped. I will be sending certified letters regarding this illegal practice to Brian J. Fields, Self Storage Sr. Vice President and Chief Legal Officer; **, Self Storage Operations President; and John Reyes, Sr. Vice President and CFO. I will also advise of this complaint I am sending you. I ask that you direct a copy of this complaint to these individuals. I work for a Court Appointed Receivership, and I am educated in the manner that Class Action Suits work. I will be speaking with other tenants at this location and will provide you names and numbers for others that are being REQUIRED to pay this mandatory fee. I will be waiting on your correspondence in regards to this matter.
Consequence: A required $8.00 MONTHLY insurance fee to all new renters of storage units at this location. This may be happening at other Public Storage locations. If you do not pay for this REQUIRED insurance coverage, you are not able to rent a unit. So, let’s look at the big $$$ picture - over 100 UNITS at $8.00 PER MONTH for the REQUIRED INSURANCE PREMIUM in order to rent a unit. No payment for the required insurance, no unit. This must STOP!

I entrusted Public storage with my belongings after moving into a smaller apartment on a temporary basis. Among the things in the unit would be a one thousand dollar sectional sofa that was one year old. Photo albums from childhood until present time, king sized sheets, clothing, etc. I deliberated between two different facilities, and decided that Public storage was the right choice due to their climate controlled environment. I paid a little extra and chose them.
When returning to the facility to pick up my things six months later I was horrified at what I found. Mice or Rats had been living in my unit. My sofa is DESTROYED. There is rat feces and urine everywhere. There are holes in the sofa and it is pulled apart at every corner. There are rodent nests in every crack of the cushion. My Boxes were chewed open for RATS to urinate and defacate on my 100$ King Sized sheets and clothing. My photoalbums are chewed to garbage.
The staff in the store was rude and ignorant. Customer service was at the bottom of their list. When asking for a manager, everyone we spoke with replied I am the manager.. Right.. I had to take matters into my own hands and contact the insurance company and the district manager.
The insurance company is reimbursing me 250$ Unbelievable. And now this company is trying to tell me I have to dispose of my things myself, even though THEIR facility has rats. Whats best is when we brought this to their attention, they said We thought we had this under control. Meaning they had this problem and knew about it and neglected to call me. What kind of business is this? I feel like an idiot. PLEASE DO NOT CHOOSE PUBLIC STORAGE.

I had rented a storage unit for nearly 3 years without any issues until the week before I was scheduled to vacate at the end of June of this year. I had visited my storage unit on Sat June 21st to grab a few boxes and things were fine. I called the office on Thurs. afternoon which was June 26Th to inform them I would be vacated by the end of the month. I spoke to Yamen. At that time he informed me that that would not be a good time to move because of painting, when I arrived at 6:15 p.m. no painting was in progress...?
When I got there the front gate at the property was not working, it appeared to be stuck open and would not close. When I reached the door to get into the storage building, it also was not working correctly as the door would not completely close or lock. Upon arriving at my storage locker I found a lock on there that was not mine. Being after hours I called the 877 number. I was told there was nothing that they could do and I would have to wait until the morning. A few minutes later I realized that the unit next to mine was missing a lock, at that time I walked around and discovered several more units were also missing locks.
Again I called the 877 number to let them know that there were units that did not have locks on them and again, I was told very impolitely there was nothing they could do until the next day. My boyfriend also made a call to inform them that the front gate was not working and was told they were aware, as problem had already been reported earlier and a email had been sent to the manager. I decided to file a police report at that time (case number 08-7066).
When officer H. arrived, he made note of the front gate not working and complex door not properly closing, during his inspection of the units without locks, found numerous that had been cut and thrown back into the units. At that time he could not complete my report as I didn't have access to my unit, and would return the next evening. The next day, Friday the 27Th, I called the office to make sure they were aware of the break-ins and not to touch the locks as the police officers would return to collect them for possible evidence. I was told with an attitude that the employee knew and it was fine. That evening I returned after work at approximately 5 p.m.
The same gentleman I had spoke to on the phone the day before, Yamen, was working at the time. He told me that an employee must have placed the lock on my unit because it had been found without one. When we got to my unit he looked at the lock and asked if I was sure it wasn't mine because it wasn't one of theirs, I told him no, it definitely wasn't mine, I had purchased a round lock from P.S. and the one that was on there was a common masterlock.
At this time he left to make a call to the property manager. When he returned I was again told I would have to wait until the next day to have the lock removed, which was complete crap to me as I felt that the lock had been placed there so whom ever had broken in could return to help themselves later. We walked back to the office, I asked Yamen how often the employees checked on the storage units, he told me once a day. Which makes me wonder seen as how I had been there 15 minutes after the office had closed, how all of the units without locks were not seen earlier in the day. Also while I was in the office I noticed that the video cameras that were outside had been covered up because of the painting.
At this time officer H. and his partner officer P. arrived. While questioning Yamen about the front gate, he falsely stated to the officers that when he left the previous day at 6 p.m. the gates were working at that time, and also that there were no issues with the door that led into the units. While the officers were gathering information from Yamen I decided that I would go to Lowe's to purchase bolt cutters as the police officers would need to get into my unit to indeed see if anything of mine had been stolen to finish my report, not to mention there was no way I was going to leave my unit for one more night with a lock someone else had put on there.
When I returned the officers were collecting all of the cut locks so when they finished they helped me cut the lock on my unit, once opened surprise surprise my car audio equipment that was worth approximately $1300 was gone. I did have some jewelry and a t.v. that were also in the unit, but those were not taken at that time. I finished moving all of my things out at 1:30 A.M. A few weeks later I returned to get a copy of my lease agreement.
When I first rented my unit I went through P.S. for insurance and was covered up to $2000. I was given the number to Willis insurance and filed a new claim on a Thursday in July and was told that I would be called on either Friday or Monday. Three weeks and 3 messages later left with Willis that I would like someone to contact me and no return phone call, I finally get a hold of a representative who informs me that I refused to switch to Willis when they took over as insurance provider for P.S. leaving me uninsured, and that they had mailed me a letter stating this, which of course, I never received. She verified at that time that they had my correct address on file, which they did.
My address on the lease is not current, my bad, I should have updated it. When I asked how I could have refused if I knew nothing about it she told me that letters were sent out and I had refused is all she would tell me; this lady unfortunately was very unpleasant to deal with also. The alternate contact on the lease however is my parent's current info, were never contacted. I do not understand how it is possible that I am required to have insurance, but was allowed to go so long without, unbeknownst to me. I am also aware that the price for insurance did not go up, but stayed the same at $8 when Willis took over and I would think that the new insurance would just be transferred over. In no way did I knowingly want to be uninsured, at any time.
So, I am obviously very frustrated with my experience. I just cannot believe every ones snotty attitudes throughout this whole ordeal, both from P.S. and Willis. I know there are 40 or so others that this also happened to, and I sincerely hope there experience hasn't been as ridiculous as mine. As I stated before, I do have a copy of the lease. I do not think that with these circumstances asking that I be reimbursed is unrealistic and I hope that you agree. What I am asking for is $1300 to replace the car audio equipment that was stolen. I really do not want to go to small claims court, but will if needed. I had approximately $1300 of car audio equipment stolen. I am unsure of the situations of the 40 or so other people.

He continured to argue with me when I asked for the address of the corporate location and the address of the owner or manager. I asked for a refund of the first month fee I had just paid and also for the lock they made me purchase. Then I asked for the documents back which contained my personal information. Wayne told me he could not release the documents because he had to have proof he wasn't trying to steal money from the company. I asked him to black out my personal information, and again he refused. I called the owner of the facility, Dave and he has not returned my call. If I start to receive unsolicited mail, emails and phone calls about moving or anything remotely associated with knowledge that I rented a unit, I will know they released my information. In early 2005 I rented a storage unit with automatic bill pay. Everything went perfectly until the expiration date on my credit card approached in September 2006. A couple weeks before my card expired, the local Public Storage office called and left a voicemail asking for my new credit card information. The voicemail said I had to come into the office, but when I called back and told them my credit was exactly the same except for the new expiration date, I was told that everything was okay and that I wouldn't have to come into the office.
The next weekend I went into the office anyway to have them check my records. Again they said everything was okay, but I offered my credit card to them so they could make a copy of it for their records, but they denied my offer. A couple weeks later I received another voicemail, but when I called back they said everything was okay. A few weeks after that I went on vacation and they called again. My family received the message and couldn't get in touch with me, so they went to the office and paid by check to prevent any further problems. Finally, yesterday, November 9, 2006, Victoria called and left another message, except instead of asking me to call back or coming into the office, she only left the phone number for their bill pay phone system. Today, November 10, 2006, I left a complaint with their online Consumer Complaint system and also left a voicemail asking them to call me back.
Several hours lost calling them back and visiting their office, and the time my family spent to visit them and pay, which should not have happened because they have my current card information and I have automatic bill pay, but they can't seem to put it together and pay the bill like they used to.
