I initiated contact with Perennial April 19, 2022, spoke to Linsey and did a Facetime to be prepared for a quote. The customer support staff charmed me into thinking that we could change the inventory list and therefore reduce the amount of the charge. The complete terms of the agreement and the clarification of charges was made available to me but was not clear to me. I had several questions but were continually put off. We were lead to believe that the inventory list was fluid and we could modify it to help reduce the total cost. We removed several large items that were initially on the inventory list but the base number never was reduced. We added boxes and the estimate continued to go up.
The online inventory list was not clear and we received no help when we wanted clarification. Once we made a deposit practically all communications stopped. The item Binding Estimate Fee appeared to be a number that is the minimum for the move. This is nothing more than the fee charged by the broker. What started out as a move estimate costing $1807 to a final bill of $7000. During this time I had asked for some boxes and was told by Linsey that would be no problem but, again after I was no longer able to speak to Linsey everything was a nightmare full of lies.
After several attempts to speak to Linsey, whom I trusted and received a quote and promised she would be my on POC. No phone calls, no contact, no call backs. Even after several urgent messages were left, nothing, except calls and replies from rude employees that said that nothing Lindsey said no longer matters. Complete and total lack of respect for customers and taking advantage of people who do not understand the moving business. I only committed to Linsey, and asked that our conversation to be recorded because it seemed too good to be true, and it was. This place is a SCAM, and no one should have to go through their lies.

Mr Terry did remove some items from the inventory and also added items for the price increase. Mr Terry was refunded in full.

Honestly the best movers around here. I talked to them on phone and they were very friendly and straightforward, we discussed everything from prices to items. Everything went accordingly. Fast and reliable workers, they really took care with fragile items. Prices were reasonable and negotiable. The best experience I have ever had with movers.

I googled Perennial at one point then they started calling me a lot. My experience with them was the worst I ever had and I got duped. They quoted me a price and it was so low compared to every other bid that I had. When the move happened and after the guy packed all my stuff in the truck, the bill was actually three times higher than the quote. I have never in my entire experience of a life seen a quote be that far off than what it actually is. My quote was $1,300 and it ended up being like $4,000. I was amazed by that and there should have been some kind of warning. But what was I supposed to do? They put you in this bind when everything's in the truck. I can't exactly say, "I don't want to pay this. Take the stuff out of the truck."
I was extremely disappointed. Nobody ever called me afterward. The way I see it, this is a normal business practice for them. The guy that was there even admitted it saying, "They give quotes to get business. And then, when I get to their account, it's pay higher." If I ever have an opportunity to spill the beans on this company, I will definitely do that. The move was from Tuscaloosa, Alabama to Navarre, Florida. If I didn't have to be out of there by that date, everything in me was gonna tell them to take it all back. I would have just gotten a U-Haul. In the end, I paid. The second the move happened, I have yet to hear from that company. The move took two days.

We had some issues during our moving process. It was supposed to be delivered at one point and they put it on hold and delivered it after two weeks. That was not something that was communicated clear. Also, they broke some of my furniture. I put in a request for those but I haven't got any response. It had to go to a third party and even then, I didn't get any response. It's been two years.

Perennial was the worst company ever. The sales guy, Keith, was the worst person in the world. They lied through their noses. I gave every bit of information and they gave me a quote. They offloaded to another company. But the company said, “They got it all wrong. This is the actual price.” I was led to believe that it was 7,000. It ended up being 12,000. I have personally not recommended Perennial to people that wanted to go that way. But the moving crew was fine. They were just doing their jobs.

I apologize you did not have a good experience. Management will be contacting you to address your complaint.

Perennial Van Lines was three days late, but sometimes that stuff happens. Also, I was told by the people that I went through that Perennial weighs the actual cargo, and I would get that weight because that's what I needed because I was moving for work. It's a military move. So, for military moves, you need the weight. I needed the weight that was transported in order to get money for the actual move. But my stuff wasn't weighed, so I wasn't able to get proper payment for it. But they told me that Perennial was well versed with military moves and that they would have the weight. So, it was just some miscommunication. Other than that, the actual moving and packing, they did a good job.

Well, after my review on here I finally was given priority on my concerns about my change in pricing from estimate to pick up. I hesitate to give this company even a 4 star…The entire process was stressful and not many positives. I did receive $500 refund (half from Perennial Van Lines manager and half from Arena (not Athena as in my initial review) Van Lines when they delivered. I felt it should have been more like $1000.
Moving is very stressful and I feel the estimate should be more accurate than it was especially when there were 2 video walk thrus done with the broker. Not knowing there would be 2 days to pack and load was not acceptable. They should have known that and brought a big enough truck. I would have packed what I packed differently if I knew it could be up to 6 weeks to get my items to Texas and that they would be stored for 1 month. The delivery was better than expected. Only 2 men came with the truck but they employed many to help and at one point there were 10 people in my home and since their arrival was only with a 24 hour notice I was by myself with a friend that came to be with me. I did not like that.
Original Review: April 26, 2022
When signing with Perennial in Jan 2022 we were told that our price would never increase unless we added item/weight. Our original estimate was at 15,000+. I deleted many items and several heavy items. I asked for a new estimate prior to this deletion to make sure our estimate was as accurate as possible. Perennial then subcontracted our move to Athena Van Lines. Our estimate not only did not stay the same but after deletion it went up by $2000.
The truck came to pick up items on the very last day of the 3 day window and we had to be out of our home 2 days after that and on the road to our destination home in order to be there before our 1st available delivery date. When the foreman arrived it was 4 pm on the 3rd day and they said they were going to be there up to 8 hours!!! Then later after going through the house to estimate weight and time they told me that they would not finish that night and did not have enough room in their truck to take everything so would have to return the next day also late in the day!! I had to leave to get on the road and my realtor had to come to watch and sign the inventory list and they still missed a whole closet of clothes and shoes.
I was told by the original broker that once the moving truck arrived they estimated the day of delivery to be 3-14 day window. It has now been over 14 days and still no ETA on our truck to arrive. Our items have not even been loaded into a Semi from Ohio yet. We have been in our home since 4/9/22 in anticipation for our items to arrive at the earliest 4/11/22. We have started just calling the subcontracted company who instead of Perennial’s “(greatest mover in the USA ) false claims, Athena was the subcontracted company and has the worst reviews I have read on the internet and we did not have any choice when they arrived because we were expecting Perennial to pick up our items and we had to get our of our home. Don’t ever use either one of these Van Lines.

My move with Perennial Van Lines went smoothly. I just didn't like the middleman. I found out that the only thing they did was contact a mover in the area, and they got so much money for that. I contacted the mover, but I considered him a middleman only because after he contacted the actual mover, you do everything with that person and you no longer deal with the original contact. And that was pricey. I said, "Well, that's messed up because the mover is doing all the work." So, I didn't like that part. Although, the move went very well.
It was hard to contact the contractor at first. But they got in touch with me, told me what day they would be by my house. And they came as promised and moved. They dinged my walls a bit, but I didn't complain. I figured it's something I can do. But it was a special painting technique I had on that wall. Other than that, I have a Tempur-Pedic bed, so they had to move that very well. They broke it down very well. And they moved me, they were patient and thorough. So, I was very happy with the actual guys that came and made the move, and delivered my household goods. It was a small move. Although I was very nervous, I was satisfied with everything. I switched movers because I didn't trust the mover I had. And who actually moved me walked me through how to get rid of that mover and come to them. So, that was very courteous. He seemed to be very experienced in that.

Perennial Van Lines' rep kept promising me a good rate. It was my first time hiring someone to move me from state to state. They gave me a good deal. Everything went good. The movers did great, moving from my apartment from one state to the other. They showed up the next day like they promised and did everything in a timely manner. I thought it would take all night because I had a lot of stuff, but they did it quickly. And they did it even faster when they came and dropped everything off.
The only issue was towards the end because I had to get a money order. It was New Year's and I could not get a money order anywhere. Plus, I have a bank account from Texas, and that bank is not over here in Louisiana. So I had a hard time withdrawing money as well. But luckily, I was able to do so. It just took a little while. It was a little pricey, but everything went good.

Thank you for your positive feedback. We wish you and your family the best of luck in your new home.

Perennial realized that the Problem was with Best For You Moving based in Los Angeles. She assure me that they would never use them again. I appreciate that Perennial reached out to us and was willing to help resolve our issue.
Original Review: April 18, 2022
Perennial contacted Best For You Moving which was responsible for moving our belongings from California to Illinois. We had no contact as to when we would receive our things. The guy showed up at 6:30 in the morning with our things and wanted his money. He unloaded the things in our garage and waited until the banks opened at 9 am so I could get cash to pay him. He did not speak English so communicating with him was next to impossible. He was by himself and was willing to bring the boxes in the house but could not have assembled the bed and armoire by himself. We later learned that this company has a DDD rating from the Better Business Bureau and I can see why. We have moved numerous times and this was by far the worst experience we have ever has. We would never recommend Perennial to anyone.

A resolution between the customer and Perennial Van Lines has been agreed upon.

The guy who I talked to on the phone when I was arranging the move was super helpful. On moving day, I had packed everything up and the crew came in quite quickly, and put everything that I wanted to go into the truck into the truck. They wrapped up all my furniture in cloth, which was great, which meant that they were safe. However, one of my things didn't have a label, which was a chair, and they Sharpied the label onto the chair. Also, they lost a piece of my furniture. But that came back to me two to three weeks after the move.
The crew was super helpful and very friendly. I would recommend Perennial. I don't know if this is a ploy but they said that someone canceled and I had such a good discount rate because they already had someone going from Massachusetts to Florida. It was very convincing so I used them. I compared them to renting a U-Haul by myself and it would have been almost as expensive as having them move my stuff for me. So, it was a great price from Perennial.

Thank you for your positive feedback. I am happy to hear the items were labeled and the item was retrieved.

We contacted Perennial as they appeared to be reputable. It now seems that it was only an appearance. They gave us an estimate over the phone and we ended up using more space than was allotted so it cost more. I understand an on site estimate would have been better. They picked our belongings up in October and stored it until we contacted them in February indicating we would be ready to take delivery on February 10th. It is now March 28th. We are still clueless as to where our things are or when we will receive them. We have contacted them at least 15-30 times and have yet to receive a call back. I was told that we would for sure see our belongings on the week of 21-25th.
After contacting today (the 28th of March), it was indicated that there was an update, but we were waiting for someone to finish a meeting. I called back 4 hours later and was informed that there is still no update. I hope that we will receive our belongings at some point, but anyone's guess is as good as mine or Perennial’s as to when it may be. I am beginning to think that my only other course of action is to file a claim for moving fraud. I would strongly caution against using this company for anything.

When I spoke to them, they went above and beyond with the way they contacted me back and let me know what they could do and how they could move numbers around. They were very open with their policies and price list. I felt comfortable with them. The moving crew was the best I've experienced. We had agreed to a certain amount but they told me that it could fluctuate based on me having more or less. I liked the fact that if what I had was less than what I said, they would change the price.
The movers saw that what I had was well over what I predicted. Instead of the hassle of a truck which we thought it was gonna be, it was almost the entire truck. They were quick to contact the office and one of the main gets went above and beyond to see what they could work and move around prices for me. I liked them.
When we got past that and they started the actual moving of the items, they saw that there were some that we didn't properly box. Just so nothing got damaged they said, "Hey, listen. We have some extra boxes, no fee, we'll rebox it. We'll protect some of these items." I would definitely recommend them to other people as well.

HI Devin,
I am happy to hear your move went smooth. Customer Satisfaction is out #1 goal. Good luck in your new home.

The movers brokered by Perennial were absolutely horrible. I was advised not to get the insurance (never again). I asked where the listing of items was and they claimed that they didn’t get one from their boss. I also asked to verify my estimate and was assured it would be within my estimate. The movers charged me $5,000 over the previous payment already submitted ( I was informed they charged by the amount loaded by space).
The company, Eagle Moving, was disorganized, unknowable, careless and didn’t bring certain packing supplies to: transport my TV, my mattress covers, my antique desk and table. Their packing in the truck was not professional. My refrigerator was packed last (taking more room in the truck), my antique dining table was stacked with heavy items and the legs broke (I had explained that the leg portion needed to be taken off and they refused). My new home wood floors were scraped from carelessness, my antique desk was scraped deeply and the walls were hit as well. I am completely dissatisfied with this broker and lack of screening of the actual moving company. Laura **

The crew showed up three days later, looked at everything and said, "We're not going to do it unless you raise the money." They robbed me. It ended up they charged me 34,000. Perennial Van Lines is dishonest and they never tell me the truth. I also lost at least two big boxes from my hose during the moving. Everything has to be the worst. There's nothing good about them. If I could give zero stars, I would. They are horribly misleading and have zero ability or desire to resolve customer complaints. They also have no back up staff for when some call in sick. We were even hung up on by someone unwilling to listen to our complaint. When we first called Perennial Van Lines we told them of our plans to rent a UHaul for about $5,000 and complete the move ourselves. Not only did they give us a quote lower than what we would pay with UHaul, but they assured us that our belongings would go straight from point A to point B. The representative told us that they are a different type of moving company because they do not charge per cubic foot of storage since they do not use storage facilities. This, she explained, allows them to keep the rates low.
We created a very specific inventory list of our items to move with the representative and agreed to the quote of $4,6071 and paid $1,862.04 on that day. Closer to the move, we further narrowed down the move and went over the inventory list at which point the quote went up to about $4,800. The second quote no longer loads in the link they provided. We were told we would pay $1761.34 on the day the movers arrived.
When the movers arrived, they were from a different company but assured us they work through Perennial. They were called Best Moving Van Lines and told us that Perennial had been overcharging us at least $500. They told us they were calling their supervisor because the invoice they received didn’t match the one we were given. While one was on the phone, the other two began to load the truck. We continued to ask how much the charge would be and if it would remain the same. They continued to tell us that the charge would go up but very little. When the man was off the phone he gave me uncompleted papers to sign summarizing what each was as I signed them. He urged me to sign them so that they could get on with the process.
I was signing the fine print of the documents agreeing to things that had not yet taken place. For example, the line that reads “I had received the rights and responsibilities booklet” provided to me by best moving” was signed after the man explained that he would give it to me. It was never received. He explained that he will fill them in as they go loading and that we shouldn’t worry because the charge shouldn’t be much higher than the original quote.
They took a very long time so and told my husband that the amount due that day was $3,034 instead of the $1800 we were told over the phone. Due to the awful language barrier, my husband understood that he was paying off a portion of the moving costs. The man then left the invoice on our fireplace as my husband used the restroom. To our shock, they had filled in blank spaces with charges amounting to $9,000 above and next to the areas where I had signed. We now owe If we had known, we would’ve told them to unload the truck entirely.
After the items were picked up, an accountant for Perennial called to collect $600. She couldn’t give us any information on the account except that she was calling to collect. We have now paid $5,881 and are expected to pay $3,000 more when the movers arrive. We received an email that Best Moving Van Lines were on their way and would only give us a days notice of their arrival.
When we call Perennial Van Lines, no one answers so we leave voicemails. When we can Best Moving, the representative blames Perennial, promises to speak to a supervisor and that they will reach out to me. No one has communicated with us over this wrongful overcharge and forged documentation. We are now seeking more formal means of resolution. When we attempt to clink the link for the original invoice, the link says the document no longer exists.

Customer Satisfaction is very important to Perennial Van Lines. Management is already working with the customer.

Without getting into too much detail, Perennial Van Lines was hired to move us from San Diego to Texas. They are a broker who states they will guide you through the process and be with you through the end. That is not the case - they hired a HORRIBLE mover, who is not out of business - DIAMOND CLOVES MOVERS out of NEW JERSEY. We paid for a full pack service - many of our items were thrown into boxes and broken. An expensive item was stolen. We were offered $200 by Perennial for our trouble, and $1,500 for the expensive item from Diamond only to have them completely be nonresponsive after the offer. We paid just over $27,000 for this move and a year later have had no recourse. We have filed with NMCRA and DOT and are now looking at small claims court in Florida. DO YOUR RESEARCH!!! Do not trust all reviews that you see - Diamond Clove has several reviews coincidentally posted on the same day....hmmm....very strange!!!
