My parents used them to move from Long Island to Florida and we all couldn't be more pleased. They were professional, efficient and fast. John was great and his sons were extremely hard working and did an amazing job and made it an enjoyable process. I wish I knew about them in the past so I could have used them when I moved, but my next move when my lease is up I will 100% be calling them!!

I used Molloy Brothers for a move in December 2015 and could not have been more pleased. It all went so smoothly it was incredible. The people that came were very nice and took great care with my possessions and my house. They reassembled and set up everything at my new home as well. I would use them again on my next move.

First I'd like to compliment you on the packers. They were fast, accommodating, courteous and professional. Unfortunately there was a problem with the man who was heading the movers. Overall it went smoothly and as far as I can tell (not everything is unpacked yet) all my things arrived safely. The men were diligent and worked hard. Below is a list of the problems I encountered. When the movers were taking things out of my old apt, there was a problem taking apart one of my wall units. The head man (Luis) was not gracious about it and caused me to feel stressed over it. He could have said that there's a problem, and not to worry, it will be fixed but instead he made me feel a little apprehensive about whether it could be moved at all. He was also rude to my friend, who was helping me and had intervened on my behalf.

At the onset, I told Luis that I'd like to pack the fridge & freezer stuff last and that when they arrived at the new place, to unpack that first so I could put it away. He rushed me through the packing (I had some last minute items to pack) and we left in a hurry. I still had a few items in the old apt, and wanted to clean the floors. I would have done both at the time, but I went straight to the new place so I could unpack the freezer stuff. I also reminded him of this right before they left.

When we got to the new place, we were waiting for over an hour. When Luis finally arrived, I asked him about the delay. He told me the men had taken a lunch break. I told him he should have told me that. He then said that they have a right to take a lunch break. I told him I rushed over to the new place so I could unpack the freezer stuff, and had I known they were going to take a lunch break, I would have finished up at the old place, and then taken the freezer stuff over by cab myself. He then told me the lunch break was only 10 mins and that they had spent considerable time trying to find a parking space, and that's what actually caused the delay. Perhaps that was the truth, but I'm not so sure it was. It sounded to me like an excuse. Forgive me if I'm wrong about this

While unpacking I asked Luis to put all the boxes with books under the piano, and the paintings on top of the piano, so I'd have a little pathway in the living room (there were many many boxes, and I told him I wouldn't be able to unpack for a while, since a contractor was going to do be doing some construction in the apt, and I wouldn't be able to put the wall units or furniture away until the construction was completed). He did not follow my instructions. The books and paintings are now clogging up the living room, and I cannot get to the piano, which means, not only is the living room totally congested (and unnecessarily so), but as it stand right now, I won't be able to practice the piano until the construction is completed, which is a few weeks from now.

To remedy this, I have decided to hire two men from my building to move all the boxes out, and then place the boxes with books under the piano, the paintings (or at least some of them) on top of the piano, and clear a little path so that I can get to the piano. This is both inconvenient, time-consuming, and I will have to tip them well, since the boxes are very heavy. All this could have been avoided if Luis had followed my instructions to begin with. As mentioned previously I wanted to finish up at the old place but rushed over to the new place so that I could put the freezer stuff away. Since the men arrived over an hour later, and worked late, they were not done till late (I can't remember if it was after 5, but at least close to 5 pm).

In the meantime I was being pressured by Argo to go back to the old place to turn in my keys and sign a legal document surrendering the apt. I explained that I needed to stay at the new place while the men were still bringing the stuff in, and that I couldn't leave until the were done. Argo gave me a hard time about this. In the end, the buyout broker, who was handling the deal, came over to the new place where I surrendered the keys and signed the document. He then arranged with the super to let me into the old place in the evening so I could finalize everything.

All this could have been avoided if, had I known about the lunch break. I could have taken care of last minute things in the old place, surrendered the keys, signed the document, and as mentioned previously brought the freezer stuff over. I was quite stressed over the situation, because Argo told me that if I didn't comply I'd be in violation of the legal agreement we had regarding surrendering of the apt. In fact it was a tense situation, seemed difficult to resolve, and added considerably to the stress I was already experiencing.

Last and not least, as mentioned, the packers were very courteous as were the 5 movers. But Luis was not always courteous. He was a bit aggressive at times, and at one point called me "honey". I told him not to speak to me in this way and he promptly denied having said that. I feel that when workers come into a home, they should be respectful and show professional courtesy to the client. I realize this is a long diatribe, but the only way I could explain the situation is by describing the circumstances. Apologies for the length. As mentioned, overall, I was satisfied with the results. Thank you.

I moved from Island Park, ny to Osprey, Fl and everything went off so smoothly, I was shocked. Everything went completely as it should have. There were more delays on my home sale and they were able to deal with it better than I did. My stuff was picked up and packed right on time. Went to storage for 2 months and arrived in Florida in the same condition as it left. Nothing lost or broken. If you have to move, Molloy is the route to take. From estimators to coordinators to moving men, they are highly recommended by me.

Horrible... very unprofessional. First they severely underestimated the contents of my home. They sent a team of unprofessional extremely unorganized men. Their attire and personal appeal was disgusting to say the least. Some smelled like alcohol, dirty ripped clothes, and constantly smoking. They all stood around while one guy did all the work. The contents didn't fit on the Truck and had to send a second truck, which they charged. I have explained the situation to the Customer service and the manager several times, and they did nothing. They charged me at full price when really only one guy and I did most of the move. Really hated the service. Had to give them the payment in cash or certified check so they can release my personal belongings. Tomorrow is another day.

It is very important that anyone reading this understands what really happened here. Our estimator arrived at the home to do the estimate and was told that nothing in the backyard was going to move. On the day of the move we were pointed to a shed in the backyard as well as the attic that was full. Thus the move took more time and we bill on an hour basis. We did try and call Tony to discuss a good faith rebate but he did not return calls.

We have recently been moved from New York to Florida by Molloy. We were very pleased with the estimating, packing and the crew. They could not have been more friendly or professional. However the company they hired to pack and move a large sculpture were not on time and unprepared, without the proper equipment and manpower to do the job both in New York and FL. Molloy was also not the right company to move our safe as it was dropped and damaged and unable to open upon arrival. A safe company had to be called to drill it open to access some documents and it is unrepairable. We did not put in a claim as we believe it is our fault for asking them to move a 500 pound safe, that they do not know how to do. The crew was quite good in FL and pleasant.

I called Mayflower for a quote to move from Long Island, NY to San Diego, CA beginning of November 2nd. A nice guy called me back, scheduled a consultation. He came from Molloy Bros Moving & Storage to come give me a quote. Everything there went fine. He got me scheduled for November 12 to be picked up and delivered no later than 14 days which is what I was TOLD. The latest my contract says is November 27, 2015. So I move to CA and I don't hear back from my coordinator. Her name is Kim on the Old Bethpage office. Weeks go by still no call, no updates and this is when EVERYTHING went to crap. I called on November 22 left a message for Kim my updated address on where the furniture needs to be delivered as well as used the Updater portal to update such needed address. Still didn't hear back.

I was expecting a call before today November 27, 2015 on estimated time of arrival. Nothing, so I call this morning ask where is my furniture and belongings. The girl named Hailey goes on to tell me that my move isn't coming til December 2-4. At this point I am so frustrated. I can't believe they are breaking their contract and coming now 5 days later than they said WAS the latest date. I tell her this is unacceptable and that I paid extra $500 for time sensitive move. Was told latest on my contract is November 27. She doesn't care. Goes on to put me on hold then line disconnected.

I call back Hailey, puts me on hold again and then transfers me to Steve. He said he is the Sales Director and that he apologizes for not being contacted or updated by the company or Kim the coordinator who is paid to update me and communicate my move to me. Then goes on to tell me that I can get a delayed move credit which will give me $100 a day for each day that is late. I ask, "What date would that start?" Steve said November 27, 2015 and on. So $100 for each day after November 27, 2015. I told Steve I have over a million followers on Twitter, LinkedIn and many other apps. That I will be leaving my review of my experience. The most important thing was for me was to pick a reputable company. The reviews show Mayflower and their contractor Molloy as being decent. This isn't decent. I have small baby and I trying to get this handled and scheduled just right.

I flew someone with me from NY to be able to be here to help me unpack and move my furniture in and get it situated due to just having a baby. Now the truck is coming a week after my friend is scheduled to leave back to NY. I ask when will I be mailed a check. Steve the sales director out of Old Bethpage NY says "just days after you pay the moving guy in full when he arrives." Why should I pay in full when they have already broken their contract already? Why am I being held accountable for their mistakes and lies? I then get a call from the actual driver Dan. Who goes on to tell me my stuff was just now picked up and put into his truck. It's been 14 days already it's just now being picked up in NY and moved?? WHAAT!! Dan said, "Yes, the dispatchers moves some things around." Now my stuff is just now on its way. That he doesn't see my stuff being delivered til December 6th or 7th 2015. UNBELIEVABLE!

So I am keeping my word as I told Steve that I will be making a review on how this experience went from bad to worse. No one at the office genuinely cares. I would prefer to be able to subtract the credit I will be getting with my "claim" on delayed arrival now versus be inconvenienced again and wait again for the Molloy Bros Moving and Storage to correct their bad choices. I do not recommend this company to anyone, and will not use them again in the future. This is what they call reputable and not like the "other" guys. I can't tell?! Can you?

There are very rare and unfortunate circumstance where a shipment can be delayed. Mayflower has a policy to pay the customer $100 per day every day a shipment is late on shipments that weigh over 3,500 lbs. Tyfani's weight was 2100 lbs. but our receptionist, who was new with our company made a mistake and gave her the wrong information and told her she would get a delay claim. Molloy stood by our word and we sent Tyfani a check that covered almost her entire move.

While it took quite a long time, the company worked with us to resolve our issue satisfactorily.

    Original Review: July 31, 2015

DO NOT USE MOLLOY BROS MOVING. We moved several weeks ago to Florida from NJ. All in all, everything went well, but the company lost one box. The only box packed with anything of any value. This one box was lost and Molloy Bros has failed to do anything about it. We paid for insurance and they've denied the claim. They have no interest in standing up for their service and I would recommend using any other moving service. They have given us nothing but trouble trying to correct this issue and have forced us to consider other options. I have no real interest in legal action, but their attitude and abject refusal to take responsibility for the loss of our property is forcing me to consider it.

Updated 9/25/2015 - Update to my previous review. The company attempted to make good (finally) on my claim after initially, flat-out denying the claim. They negotiated for less than half the claim plus a couple of replacement products, which I was fine with. But they've dragged their feet on the check. They told me it was "in process," then that it was in the mail and I should receive it by "early next week." This has been more than five months of fighting and so far... no check. I am fundamentally unhappy with this company and will never use them again and will never recommend them to anyone.

And the actual crew, ** were amazing. They arrived on time, treated not only us, but our belongings & both the home we were leaving & the home we moved to with the utmost respect. They were a pleasure.

This was our third move in less than 10 yrs & all were with Molloy Bros. - would not have any other way. I sincerely hope we will stay put now but if life has another change for us, Molloy will be one of the first calls I make. Since my neighbor had used Molloy, we just felt pretty confident and good about using them. The move started well. Someone from Molloy (after we contacted them) came and gave us an estimate and did everything. She was absolutely amazing, efficient, professional, and we got along great. Then, she turned over the paperwork to another girl who was just as amazing. She was also efficient- she called and let us know if there were changes. The guys that came to pack our things were also absolutely amazing. They were careful. They explained everything, marked everything fragile that was fragile - they did everything right. The people from Molloy were all wonderful. But the end was not as pleasant as the beginning.

Everything got put on the truck then it was gone. The people from Molloy were calling to give us status which was great. But the mover called me to deliver the furniture on a Friday. He showed up in a U-Haul. He said that the guys that he hired were day laborers. They pulled up in a Jaguar. He was looking at me saying, "Oh, my God, they're in a Jag, I'm in the wrong biz." To me, if that's how you feel, you're not making me feel really good about this. So, he just told the guys, "I didn't get all their furniture so I need you guys to start unloading the stuff so I can get back to the warehouse to get their furniture." These guys were not given any instructions. They stacked the boxes that were marked fragile three and four high on a dolly, and I'm watching them fall off. Then, the furniture that was not even mine was delivered.

When I called the mover, he said, "Look... These are day labor guys that I have to hire. I have to load my truck tomorrow. We'll fill out a claim form and it will be just fine." I said, "This is my stuff. You have not even been present through this whole move. You've given these guys no instruction. You've left me with all these broken things that are visible to me right now because I had to open the boxes, because they were dropping them." And then, he wouldn't even take the few boxes that I asked him to take.

And then just to end this, I gave the mover $160, and I said, "You split this amongst all the guys." Well, after they left, the guys came back and said, "Did you tip us? Because, you know, we wanted to make sure if you gave him a tip, because he didn't give us anything." I replied, "Look, this guy is a loser and I'm sorry, but I don't want any more to deal with you. You guys go fight your own battle." I think it was terrible that he didn't even share when he wasn't even there.

But having said all that, I will still use the company because of the people they have, the ones that I encountered in the beginning of the move. They made me feel better but the mover, himself, obviously needs some training.

Every interaction I had with the moving company was completely positive. In particular, the initial guy who came out, Bill, did an estimate for the move and he made it a binding estimate and they didn’t deviate from that number in any respect whatsoever. Bill was extremely professional, which I appreciated very much. Because often times you hear about getting quote at one price and then when they show up they say oh this or that increases the price. They didn’t do that at all. Also, the moving crew, again all professional, were super fast and they didn’t damage anything. I would absolutely recommend Molloy Brothers to anybody.

The coordinator was also always in-touch with us and then when they arrived, they gave us today's notice. They showed up and they were very professional putting everything away and leaving. There were no difficulties with the move at all. The guys from Molloy Brothers did a great job. They took apart any furniture that had to be taken apart. They wrapped up every individual piece of furniture. They were very meticulous in how they wanted to do it. The move coordinator wanted to have a run down of where things were going or how to take things apart in putting things on the truck. It really was just a very, very smooth process.

My wife was extremely happy. Everybody was very polite and nice. The main guy who was running the show was very meticulous on making sure everything was done properly. He was actually much against just leaving the furniture. When we said, "Oh, you can just leave that here," he's like, "No, I'm not doing that. Where are you thinking about putting it?" He wanted to situate all the rooms as if I was living there for years on end. He was very good in saying, "Okay, let's roll out the rug, let's situate everything, put the couch here..." He was very good in not just dropping the furniture. It was just high quality professionalism. I would definitely recommend Molloy Brothers to anybody that I knew was moving.

After 30 years, we decided to move into a gated community. A very good friend moved six months before I did and recommended Molloy Brothers Moving. I moved with 450 boxes and it took three trucks, 14 hours, to move me. Molloy had to address the size of the move -- it was a move of such great magnitude and not an easy thing to do. The moving crew was very nice. It was a very warm day. They had to move me on a Sunday and that was the other complicated thing. The seller of my house decided she overstayed her welcome because they weren't able to buy on time the house she was moving into and she had to move into storage.

The result of that was, I was supposed to move on a Friday or Saturday and I moved on a Sunday. I had to pay Molloy for the overtime because it was a Sunday move. But the move was so big that, otherwise, my husband would have had to take a day off from work and cancel things on his end, and it wasn't a smart thing to do. So we decided that this is how we were gonna handle it. Moreover, it was in December, before Christmas and these guys don't want to work on Sundays. They would rather have the time with their families but they all decided to do it because they were able to have extra money for Christmas presents. Hope, the move coordinator I dealt with, was spectacular. Cannot say enough good things about her. Molloy Brothers was very professional and excellent.

I was referred to them by friends but that was after I researched them online and made some phone calls and I liked the person at the other end of the phone, Hope. She was very helpful. I had two people come to my house. I liked her and the gentleman that came and then I found out that two people I knew used them and that was it.

The crew pretty much listened to everything I said. It was a miserable rainy day that day so it was a difficult move. But they were quick. When I questioned them why they had taken a detour, they said they were eating on the way while they were driving. So it took them a few minutes longer to get there. But they were great. They followed up and followed through.

There was one thing though where they quoted me a certain amount of hours based on my contents of the house, what they had seen. It turned out that it was a half-hour difference shorter and I had paid in full. When I called to complain, she told me she'd look into it and get back to me. And she refunded me the money, There wasn't a fight or an argument. She just wanted to check with the foreman to make sure that it was okay. It was great!

I was only going to go with Molloy. Their crew was great. They worked really hard and they didn't even leave a piece of tape on the floor in either place. They cleaned up completely. They showed up on time and didn't take any breaks. They moved, and crated and uncrated everything. It was really an excellent experience. There was no damage. I already told three people about Molloy Brothers and that they shouldn't really go anywhere else.

I was extremely pleased and couldn't have been happier with the price and with the move. We got a lot of stuff and nothing got broken. I expected a few things to be broken, of course. It’s just the nature of moving so many things at the same time. But everything was intact. And Steve was great and the guys were great with a great sense of humor. The same guys who loaded us, unloaded us. I would recommend Molloy Brothers to anyone who asked me about a move because I've heard horror stories about that and this was not that. When one is moving the distance we moved, there’s a lot of things that can go wrong. A lot of things did go wrong but nothing went wrong in terms of the shipping of all that stuff.

But otherwise, they were just absolutely wonderful. It was great. The crews were extremely professional on both ends. Customer is correct. There were issues and they are being addressed with the home office (Mayflower). We picked up the shipment and brought to our warehouse where another company brought the items to Utah. We do accept responsibility and as a result, have Mayflower dealing with the issue as they are required to do. Mayflower offered a settlement of $3565 plus some fees but it was rejected by the homeowner and is moving towards arbitration. We have done all we could do in this instance. We accepted ownership of the issue and have the proper parties negotiating a fair outcome. Our salesman was notified but has no input once the home office client services team takes over. I am the CFO and monitoring the situation closely and often. We are also taking corrective action internally to avoid a repeat issue.

The company's reps called me several times to follow up on my move. The CFO of the company called and gave me a price adjustment because of my bad experience with them. They are concerned about customer care and they did what they could to try to make it right.

    Original Review: Aug. 8, 2014

I hired Molloy Brothers to move from New York to Massachusetts. This was a major move of my entire 3-bedroom home. I paid over $7000. They loaded the truck on one day and delivered it 2 days later. They promised to send 3 men for the move but they only sent 2 men, which I felt was a bait and switch. They had promised 3 men, and the move clearly called for at least 3 men. Since they only sent 2 men, the move took hours longer than it should have. In addition, since both men were moving furniture, nobody was keeping an eye on the truck at all, and all of my possessions were in it, completely unguarded.

Only 1 of the movers spoke English. The other man did not speak a word of English and I could not tell him what room to put things in or anything else because he did not understand me. The one who did speak English was rude to me. My new home has brand new hardwood floors. I asked him to please put something down like cardboard or whatever to make sure they didn't track in mud or dirt or damage the floors. It was a rainy and muddy day. He actually mocked me and made fun of me for that, and did not do it. He just tracked the dirt in on his shoes. He didn't care. They were the slowest movers ever. They were just ambling along like they didn't have a care in the world. They were not trying to get things done quickly at all.

I also had them do some packing for me. There were a number of large framed prints. Instead of packing them properly in mirror/picture boxes, they shoved a lot of them into the bottom of the wardrobe boxes. So when I unpacked the wardrobe boxes, I also had to pull out all these framed artworks. My estimate included 17 mirror/picture boxes and they used a lot less since they packed them unsafely in the bottom of the wardrobe cartons instead. I was promised a refund for the unused mirror/picture boxes but I have not received it. This was the type of job I would expect when I hire some cheapo "2 guys and a truck" mover, not when I pay $7000 to a major moving company.

I just had a real problem with the foreman. He was really rude and impatient. He was kind of brusque and said there was too much loose stuff and I know that I was ready having grown up in the moving business myself and working packing jobs while in college. What happened is that I didn't get the keys to the place because there was somebody living in here until I moved in. I had to drive all the way to my husband's office and get a set of keys to let them in so they were kind of upset about that but I didn't have much damage.

I had one broken picture frame that's glass. Out of the whole move that's the only damage there was so that was pretty good but it was a local move. All in all it was fast and they got in and out and set everything up. They also moved my husband's office the weekend before. They really had their work cut out to them and they really did a great job. So between the furniture and all of the extras that we had for the house, we had a lot of stuff.

The crew was great, very funny, very nice; they were constantly checking in, asking where things should be. Everyone was very careful and respectful of our stuff and our time. They took their action well and they had a lot of great suggestions as well with the house to maneuver things, and I was just very impressed with the fact that they moved the overstuffed chair up three flights of stairs, you know, one man, so that was very unbelievable. They've met my expectations completely. I was very happy with everything that came about, and I can’t say enough good things about the company and my experience. It was all simple and stress-free. Items were put into storage, good pieces of solid wood furniture, etc. at the cost of 179 bucks a month plus tax. Since the items were in storage, when the time came to move cross country, I thought it would be the easiest and best to simply use them for the move. The appointed day came and the driver refused to move all items and boxes out and left. The company rep was contacted from the curbside and fully aware and even spoke to the driver and heard the truck pull out. Molloy Bros. had my credit card almost maxed out for their proposed charges for the entire move due to their employee not taking items.

Another mover was contacted to move a limited amount - again due to the credit card limit - and necessity to have some credit to cover costs of this 1800-mile move via truck with kids (one handicapped and pets). Motels/hotels were booked in advance due to moving with pets and a handicapped individual. The booking was cancelled due to Molloy Bros.' lack of contact and problems with the mover. I was told via Molloy Bros. that my storage items and the limited amount of items moved from my home would arrive on Sept. 14 and if this was not good, there were more fees for storage, etc. Again, my credit card was almost maxed out and, on top of this, the costs of the other moving company.

We arrived at destination only to now find out that my shipment does not arrive until Sept. 18. I drove 600 miles a day to make their deadline and wind up sleeping on the floor. The items from storage arrived damaged and filthy. I am overwhelmed with sheer anger due to their fees for so-called climate-controlled, protected storage. I would have been as well off sticking them in a garage and checking on them.

Molloy Bros. has been contacted three times now. They persist in sending out the same forms with their explanation for their compensation which remains inadequate and totally unacceptable. They also want me to sign the receipt for funds received and then according to their statement, their unacceptable amount will be forwarded. My questions to them remain unanswered, consisting mainly of damages while in storage, their contracted mover refusing to do the job and signature notarized for funds received while I have not received anything and also a release.

Now this goes to the BBB and the NYS atty general. Who signs a receipt stating "Received the sum of..." without having received a dime? They think because i am not residing within NYS THAT i will not pursue this issue to the fullest extent under the law. I would not recommend this bunch and I would like a NY atty. to contact me as if I were still residing there. We would be in small claims court a long time ago. This matter has been dragging on since August 2012. The same questions were asked and the same forms were sent out.

Molloy Bros moved my furniture from my home in Northport, LI into their storage facility (Advance Metro Movers of LI) in Old Bethpage, LI in August of 2007. At the time, they estimated the costings based on my goods at 13,000lbs for the move and 1,400 cubic feet for the storage and I was advised they would weigh the goods going into warehouse and adjust the pricing accordingly. This never happened.

For the next 4+ years, I was either deployed or working up for deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan and so did not pursue the issue. This spring, I needed to move my goods to PA and contacted Molly Bros for a quote and they gave me one basis 15,000lbs and 1,500 cubic feet, a surprise as this was more than originally estimated and they had actually moved my goods and stored them - all which I had paid for in the move and have been paying for in storage fees. They again advised that they would adjust afterwards. I shopped around to other nationally known moving companies and they all, after looking at my inventory of goods, advised that it was their professional opinion that the weights and cubic feet were well inflated and basis that fact gave me quotes $2000.00 less than Molly was giving me. When I advised Molly that because of this huge difference, I would be using another company, they then told me I needed to pay an initial load out from the warehouse fee of $675.00 and an additional $675.00 because a third party company was moving me!

When the goods were moved, I had the goods weighed at a certified weighing station and it came in below 9,000lbs, 30% less than what they charged on my initial move! The cubic feet was 900 cubic feet, close to 40% less than what they had been charging me for close to 5 years of storage! All in, this was close to $6,700.00 of overcharging, not including the double fees for moving out. When I contacted them about this, they refused to address it at all and advised that there was nothing they could do for me. To add insult to injury, I had paid close to $10,000.00 in insurance fees and they refused my claim of $2,200.00 for damages claiming a third party moved my goods to PA. As if the three-hour drive to PA was responsible for the damages more so than close to five years in their warehouse after they initially moved the goods. All in all, a horrible experience and I would strongly suggest that one go anywhere but use these people for your moving and storage.

The facts and numbers speak for themselves and the discrepancies in the weights and cubic feet relative to the fees charged are egregious to the point of absurdity. They are either thieves or incompetent. Take your choice, but in either event, not someone you would trust to do business with. I'm in the process of pursuing this in other directions and hope to have the situation rectified, but it's not something I should have to do nor anyone who wants a pleasant moving/storage experience should have to be involved with. Beware and a word to the wise.

We moved from LI, NY to Florida. Several pieces of furniture were damaged, lamps were broken, and there were puncture holes in cartons ruining original paintings, etc. It is not possible to inspect every item and carton content when everything is delivered. I did call and complain and was sent a claim form to file within 9 months. I did so and the claim was summarily dismissed, because I signed that everything was delivered in "apparent" good condition. Needless to say, no further communication was made by Molloy Bros.

I recently made a complaint against Molloy Bros Moving related to my two part move from NY to FL. The company has contacted me to address my concerns. They presented me with aggressive pricing for my long distance move, and showed a real appreciation for my concerns. My company contact, Sandra **, was very helpful and made several proposals to help me meet my move date and budget. This has turned out to be very positive and pleasant experience after all, and I would recommend this company to all who are looking for a very professional moving company in the future.

    Original Review: Oct. 22, 2011

I contracted with Molloy for a local move in Long Island to their storage facility, a short move that cost me over $4000 in upfront costs. After the move was completed, I was billed for extra handling and packing charges. I was also informed I was using 2 extra storage containers which raised my storage from $550 to $650 per month. Obviously there is no way to verify their information and you have to pay or you won't receive your property.

Now I am ready to move my property from storage to Florida. They want another $8000 for the move, plus $600 for warehouse fees. I received quotes from other reputable moving companies that were $1000 to $2500 cheaper. I sent Molloy the quotes and asked them to work with me on the price. Sandra ** refused to negotiate, stating all of the other firms were less qualified then Molloy (Allied and American Van Lines) and if I didn't use them, the warehouse fee would be doubled. What type of organization is this, and is this practice even legal? They use their storage service to gouge customers with extra fees. This relocation was to be the best time in my life (the move to sunny Florida).

My contact with Molloy has turned this into one of the worst experiences of my life. I am hoping to bring this to a conclusion without further monetary and distressing consequences. I would strongly recommend using another company. The firm seems to be all about making money by any means necessary, and not customer service.

UPDATE: The new managers at Molloy contacted me and made this situation right, which I appreciate. Like I said in the original review, everything was great aside from the surprise charges but I'm comfortable giving 5 stars with that issue resolved.

    Original Review: Oct. 12, 2011

We decided to use Molloy over some of the other NYC movers, despite being quoted a price over $1000 higher than the others. We figured that since they were the only company that actually sent someone to our apartment to inventory our stuff and came off as professional, it would be worth the extra money. They explained to us how the other companies would quote much less then upcharge us and hold our stuff until we paid. Well, guess what Molloy is trying to do....

They are upcharging us $800 for "extra storage unit and extra packing supplies." Obviously, there is no way to prove either one of those claims, and they told us they wouldn't deliver our stuff until we paid.

Aside from this little suprise, everything else has gone smoothly. The packers and movers were polite and efficient on the first leg of the move, but our bill of almost 5 grand for a 30-mile move of a 1 bedroom apartment is outrageous (with 3 weeks of storage). Molloy still has a chance to do the right thing here and honor their original quote. I will happily give them the rating they deserve, if they clear this up.

We contacted and ultimately used this company after ensuring they did not have any negative feedback on the BBB web site. I am so sorry to say that this experience has been terrible from the day the movers arrived to pick up my belongings. On November 27, 2007, Molloy Bros movers arrived at my home to take all of my belongings into storage as we sold our house and were looking for a new one. We knew our belongings would be in storage for 3-6 months and paid the extra money for insurance above the policy that the moving company provided.

The day of the move we had several incidents including watching some large pieces of furniture be dropped before being put in the truck, watching movers talk on their cell phones when they should have been working and finally the estimate given to me was 25% less than the actual amount. All of the workers had not slept as they had driven through the night after delivering a load to North Carolina. Additionally, there was an unauthorized worker on the truck who attempted to steal an iPod from the house. We were unaware of this worker's status at the time and only learned he was not an employee after I met with Mr. Molloy prior to the move out from storage.

Apparently, he was a relative of the drivers. The move took more than 15 hours and needed to be completed the following day. Although they promised to finish moving us the following day, they did not. My husband had taken off another day from work only to learn they wouldn't get to us until the end of the week, at which time he had to take another day off.

I met with Mr. Molloy on May 2, 2008, prior to having our belongings moved from storage to our new house. He listened to all of my concerns. Our move out date was May 5, 2008. As a result, we did have extra personnel on hand to assist with the move in and the man who oversees quality assurance came by to check on things. While he was there he noted and photographed the damage we had uncovered up to that point. Again, we watched as several pieces of our furniture was dropped coming off the truck and into the house. Thankfully we had extra insurance and hoped to be reimbursed without a major hassle. Unfortunately this has not been the case as this experience has continued to be unpleasant and stressful to say the least.

I submitted the necessary paperwork to file a claim on July 29, 2008 and the company sent a representative from Furniture Medic to my home to assess the damage. They then sent me a letter outlining what they would pay and what they would not. One of the larger items that we saw them drop several times, they refused to cover saying the damage was due to atmospheric conditions. This was insulting and my husband and I sent them another letter, return receipt certified saying their offer was not acceptable and we needed to renegotiate on August 22, 2008. It is now the beginning of October 2008 and we have not heard back from them.

I just want to be reimbursed for all of the damage done to my belongings, extensive damage. Unfortunately Molloy Bros is no longer communicating with us and we need some assistance in resolving this. I hoped you may be able to help us with this. We are frustrated and don't really know what our next action should be or what recourse we have against this large company. I would appreciate any feedback and direction you can offer. If you would like copies of the letters we have written and the certified mail receipts signed by this company, I would be happy to provide them.

Finally, can you tell me who else I can report this to. Consumers have a right to know what they are getting involved in and who they are dealing with. I believe many people would benefit from my experience and perhaps use a different moving company. I appreciate the time and attention you have given this matter already and look forward to hearing from you. Thank you again.

On Saturday afternoon 17 July I recieved a call stating that they may or may not pick up my stuff on Monday. Monday morning I had to call and they said they would have to delay my move until Tuesday morning. They stated that providing me notice on a Saturday afternoon was adequate notice.

Extensive damage to furniture, and attempted extortion. One of the movers, for no apparent reason, rolled our dining room table down a concrete-tiled hallway-cracking the table in half, and scarring it all around the edges. At the delivery site, they refused to deliver our goods unless I paid an additional %50 more. I refused, and spent an hour and a half on the phone with Mayflower until they were convinced I wouldn't pay their extortion fee-then they unloaded.I am pursuing remedy myself-but what really annoys me is that YOU GUYS recommended these crooks--PLEASE TAKE THEM OFF YOUR GOOD GUYS ROSTER!!!

This company sold me a service and did not deliver. We signed a contract with them to move our personal belongings from NYC to Los Angeles. We were told that it was no problem to have the movers pick up our things in the morning, as I work in the afternoon. I scheduled the move 3 weeks ahead of time to assure there wouldn't be a conflict. On June 3rd the movers were supposed to arrive between 8am and 10am. They never showed up. I had to call them myself, (they didn't give us the courtesy to call), and at that time they told me that the movers wouldn't be getting to my apartment until the afternoon. I had to miss work, which cost me 5 hours.

The movers did eventually show up at 3:45pm, 5hours and 45 minutes late. I was then told by the moving coordinator, Sandra Chernoff, that we would know the total of our move in two days. Nobody called us. We call the company two days later and they tell us that they do not have a total for the move. They mis-represented themselves again. Not only did I not find out the total cost of my shipment two days later, I did not find out the total cost of my shipment until 13 days later. After many complaints to Molloy Bros. Moving, we were told that, regardless of all the other errors, we would be getting our things during the window they provided (June 13th to June 24th). We just found out that we will, infact, not be getting our personal belongings as they promised, until after June 27th.

This company has made many errors and has not tried to ammend them. They could have treated our things with priority after knowing that they had screwed up so many times, but they didn't. We just don't want anyone else to go through the same things we have with this company. This company was recommended to us and we have been completely let down. I want to get the word out that they are not nearly as good as their reputation seems to be and they have a major adversity to apologies. No one in that office has been upfront with us.

My belongings were picked up from my old apt. in NY on 11/29/02 and were put into storage until I notified the above persons of my new address. My shipment was to be loaded on a truck between 12/13-16/02 and I should have received them no later than 12/27/02, which already was an extended amount of time. I attempted to the above persons several times starting on 12/20 and never received an answer until 12/26 when I was told that my shipment never made it on the truck. No one, not even a manager had the decsceny to contact me to let me know that my bed, clothes etc... were not in route. I spoke with a manager, Harry O'Brien, and he said he would ship me some boxes UPS on 12/27/02. It is 1/7/03 and I have still not received them. On 12/30/02 I left him a voicemail to contact me and he never did. I once again had to go out of my way to call them. Furthermore, they charged the credit card used for the full amt of $2,700.04 when it was confirmed at $2,403.79 and even though I still have not received my shipment. I have been sleeping on an air mattress for the past 2 weeks. Furthermore, the moving company on this end, Black Diamond in Jackson, WY was never contacted to be informed that a shipment has been delayed. From the very beginning, Gladys Simeone told me that I would be treated as a VIP, because of family friends that used to work there. I wonder if this is VIP treatment, what happens to the regular customers. There was absolutely no adjustment made to my bill except for storage for the time it was not even supposed to be in storage. I do feel I should be compensated for such a huge inconveince, with very little, if any follow up.

Molloy Bros guarenteed our furniture delivery on July 1. July 5th was the latest delivery date. It is now July 9th and they keep postponing delivery. Will not return our calls. They apparrently don't even know where the truck actually is or when to expect it. They say Friday but they keep pushing back the dates and we never get a straight answer. I strongly recommend not to use Molloy Bros or Mayflower on your next move. Pay people to load a ryder truck and unload. That way you are in control not them.My wife is suffering severly from anxietly due to this. I was relocating my business and all my equipment is on board and I am suffering damages with that as well. We are sleeping on the floor. They offered to pick up our hotel expenses but that is not an option since we have pets and cannot continue to put any more stress on them since 2 of the cats are sick and 1 has had to receive medical attention already. At this point I only hope that due to the extreme heat in the northeast and inside the truck that my office equipment and personal belongings are not damaged.

I notice that Molloy Brothers is STILL on your site as a good guy. I have nothing good to say about a moving company that misrepresented their policies and then covered up their poor handling of our furniture. Now they are trying to refuse to pay on the insurance claim. Good Guys is not a phrase I would use to describe this company.

After walking Mr. Pastore through our house and pointing out the important fragile items, I was assured that their professional, non-temporary, experienced movers would be very careful with our things. On the day of the move, not only were the movers temps, but they only loaded. Another crew (thankfully better) did the unloading at the other end. While this may be standard practice in the moving industry, we were assured that Molloy Brothers used the same experienced movers at both ends. Sadly, the loaders dropped an antique radio, breaking the front and ruining most of its sentimental and aesthetic value. Instead of admitting to it, they hid the radio under several items. Now they are requiring a certificate of authenticity before they make good on our claim (for which we paid $245) since we didn't fill out a high-dollar form, a form about which we had never been told. We specifically chose Molloy Brothers because of their placement on this site. You might want to take them off of the good guys list.We are now the proud owners of a destroyed 1939 Philco radio/turntable. While the electronics were not in complete working order, the outside had been refinished to its original state. It had been in the family for 60 years. To buy another one like it would cost about $700.
