    This moving company is as bad as they come. If you plan to move, find someone else because these folks, when you have a problem, will antagonize you, demean you, and try to throw their contract in your face versus actually trying to help. Unfortunately, the information I could have would fill a book, but I don't have the space for that. For your sanity and preservation of your precious things, RUN! Don't take my word for it, look at the complaints here at the BBB and look on Google Reviews.

    These people gave me a 2-day window and they used the second day, but as the day progressed, I called them only to find out nobody was coming. The driver said he would be there the next day and when he told me the size of the trailer, I warned him about my street and told him the specific way to get there. This was in a text that he summarily ignored and when he texted me the next time, he told me it would cost me more money to get a smaller trailer. In the end, I called the company that hired this 3rd party mover and spoke with many people. They all treated me like dirt, but they want to make it about them and try to be the victim.

    I finally cancelled the move with them and they actually wanted me to sign a document stating I wouldn't dispute the monies they wanted to keep, nor would I disparage them. I told them I wouldn't sign that and I had already disputed the charge. I found another company locally that was half the price, didn't try to nickel and dime me, antagonize me, or try to act like the victim. The new company was on-time, did what was asked, took care of my belongings, and were very easy to work with.

    On a side note of what happened, one guy actually threatened my wife and children because I used the "F" word with him. Another guy wanted me to give him the respect he claimed to give me. These folks don't seem to understand that we're the customer, not them. They need to treat people with respect and not harass. Like I said, run from this group!!!

    I'd like to thank Eric and the other people helping my 3,000 Mike move at American First Movers. So far they have moved the arrangement and paperwork go smooth, they arrange for the pick up and move to Washington State for me. Not expecting this move at age 72. So far everything has gone as plan. My pick up will be in a few days and a 24 hr window has been given to keep less stress off me. Eric is great and if I'd ever have to do this move again I will have American First Moving do the job...

    I was quoted a fair price, gave a list of what I needed moved from ATL to AZ. The day of delivery, I was called and informed that the moving truck is too big to come into the community that I live, so I would need to pay $580 additional dollars for a "shuttle", or get my own truck, meet their delivery truck and move my own things. Imagine my shock, to hear this. I was told that "this was in my contract, and I should have told them what type of community I lived in." I was refused to speak to a higher manager. I spoke with two different supervisors who were extremely rude and condescending.

    A quote price of $3300.00, somehow ended costing $4,000.00. I have never had any business speak to me the way these so - called supervisors did. I know that they under bidded this move, so they made me pay, on the back end. Of course I had to pay, because they possessed all of the belongings of my critically ill mother. Lastly, they outsource pick up and delivery, so your movers are not even the company that you hired. Beware of this company!

    I spoke to the company over the phone after turning away, one moving company that tried to overcharge me. I gave them every item I had and measurements, I was quoted a firm price, when the moving company got there they basically told me it was going to be another $500 or they wouldn’t move my items, I was told by the moving company that they do this all the time..

    When my items got ready to be dropped off, I got a call from the driver saying that his truck was too big to pull up to my storage and that I would either have to get my items on the street or pay an additional $300 for them to shuttle the items, even though they knew exactly what type of storage I had before they even left. So that move was supposed to cost me $2100 cost me $3000, my items would’ve been held hostage had I not! I have it written in an email that the price was firm! I reached out to them to give me my money back from the deposit, and they refuse! Do not do business with these people! And the people that dropped off, my items were not even legal, they were in a crappy U-Haul truck with other items disarrayed in there and mixed up!

    **RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY*** America First Movers took 44 business days (65 calendar days) from our first available delivery date for them to deliver our belongings from WA to AZ. Below you will find the facts along with my thoughts following. Suffice it to say, this is NOT a trustworthy company as we were literally lied to multiple times through the process and NO ONE should use this company for their moving needs. The company wouldn’t even bother to fairly compensate me for the extreme trauma they put me and my family through. I’m a believer that things can always be made right, but after several months, it is clear that this company has no desire to make things right, they just want to get your non-refundable deposit, get you stuck with them, and screw you over however they can. I can confidently say that any 5-star review for this company is completely fake.

    Here are the facts: Our belongings were picked up on 6/5/23 with a first available delivery date of 6/16/23. They said they legally have 30 business until they compensate us in an amount of $15 - $30 per day beyond the first available delivery date. 30 business days following 6/16 would be 7/31, accounting for 7/4 as a non-business day. We did not receive our belongings until 8/20/23 - 44 business days/65 calendar days from 6/16/23. Several items arrived beyond repair or did not arrive at all. The company they use to compensate for loss/damages offered me $74.00 for the loss/damage incurred (for reference, there was thousands of dollars worth of loss/damage done to our belongings).

    Every single time I was on the phone with them, I was always told essentially the same thing - that my case was being worked on/it’s busy season/they’re waiting on dispatch/etc. - always kicking the can down the road. On Friday, July 21st, 2023 (5 weeks from first delivery date), I was told “they are loading the truck and traveling this weekend” - finally some relief! Little did I know that they were simply kicking the can down the road once again.

    I call Monday, July 24th, 2023 because I had not received a call that the moving truck had left yet and wouldn’t you believe it? I’m told that the moving company is “working on a plan” - so now not only was the can is kicked down the road once again, I was literally lied to. The week of July 24th thru July 28th I was told several more times that the truck was going to be loaded and on its way that week. However, I did not receive my belongs that week, so lied to a SECOND time. I called on Monday, July, 31st and was told that the truck was on its way - great! I called at about 11am on Tuesday, August 1st confirming that the truck was still on its way and I was told that the truck had not been loaded - so I was lied to a THIRD time.

    Additionally, my original “binding estimate” (which is apparently in no way at all binding) increased by THOUSANDS of dollars - somewhere in the vicinity of a 75% increase, even though I did not increase the cubic footage by 75%, or even close to that. When my items were picked up, the four men were nice enough, although they did DROP my washing machine upon moving it from the laundry room to the truck, I literally watched water leak out of it, and they said “oh it’s no big deal, it’s just excess water in the line.” Luckily it actually works.

    When I went to sign the litany of documents, you’re pretty much stuck - they know you have no other choice other than to sign the documents and they can play with the cost however they see fit - very shady (and, my all-in cost ended up increasing by thousands - by roughly $4,800, from $7,750 to $12,550) - and I genuinely felt like I was signing under duress because, well, I needed my stuff moved and didn’t have any other option at that point as the sale of our house was closing the next day.

    Upon delivery to our new house in AZ, once belongings finally were delivered, it looked as if they had just thrown everything into the truck - our items were not treated well. Once everything was delivered into our house, I noticed only 2 of the 3 pieces of our 3-piece sectional was in our house. I had to physically go into the truck and noticed that one piece to our sectional was strapped in with SOMEONE ELSE’S load. Had I not gone into the truck to make sure we got everything and happened to notice that it was with someone else’s load, we would have only had 2 of the 3 pieces of our couch. Moreover, our sectional has tears that are beyond repair.

    When attempting to get any compensation back to mitigate our thousands in losses, they told us to work with another company as a sort of middleman. That’s fine, part of the process. They told me I have the standard $0.60 per pound to compensate me. They offered me $74.00, which was a total slap in the face when considering how many items were lost and damaged. I mean, the ruined couch weighs enough in itself to justify more than $74.00.

    As stated, this is not a trustworthy company at all. Frankly they shouldn’t even be in business for their shady practices. I’m glad we actually ended up just getting our stuff, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there have been several families who have been completely scammed out of their belongings and taken advantage of. This is the WORST moving experience I have ever experienced. If you’ve already paid a deposit to this company, take the loss and go find another company, pay a little more in the long run, who will treat your stuff the same way they would want their stuff treated. This company needs to be put out of business.

Concerning any damages incurred, we also promptly sent you claims information so that you may receive compensation accordingly.     They delayed my move by 3 days and each day they retorted that they were on the way until very late that evening. They upcharged me by more than $800 on pick up. They broke items and lost/ style my electronics and other high dollar items!!! As the booking company they 3rd party booked me to Blue Lion for transport and deny any responsibility beyond taking my money. Their resolution is to send me a claim form and IF they cover my broken and stolen things is at 60 cent per pound and not related to the value of the items I've lost. No one cares there and I'm having mini breakdowns since trusting this company.

    I contracted America First Moving to move my items from Houston Texas to Menasha Wisconsin. They gave the job to a third party and stopped communicating with me, will not answer my calls and when they do they are nonchalant and tell me to contact the movers. This is over a month now and I don’t have my load for a two bedroom apartment. I had to buy new clothes for myself and kids. The company they gave the job to tried to deliver on the 2nd of June after telling me it will take 16 days and I was not in Wisconsin by that date. We later agreed for the 6th of June and Now this is July 17th and I don’t have my load. I and my family have been sleeping on air mattresses and have to buy clothes. I tried calling the company and it’s always voice message. I don’t know what to do or who to report to. This is a nightmare to me.

    If I could do anything I would go back and not use this company, so the best I can do is try to save you. You will handled with such care until they get your deposit. Then very few updates, movers come earlier than expected so just plan to be ready (regardless of what they say because they called to confirm the night before that they would come in two days and they showed up the next day).

    Movers did not measure anything and said it was 457 cubic feet... by looking at my stuff? I was quoted 300 cubic feet (binding estimate I signed that says unless more is added, it won't change). Nothing was added, it changed. My binding estimate said with my items I had room for 33 additional boxes before I needed more space. Now, with nothing added, I need 157 MORE on top of the 33 boxes space? For the same stuff? Movers demanded $1,000 more or wouldn't take my stuff. Were so rude, customer service was rude and did nothing. I was told 4-5 days when I signed. I'm about to go into my 3rd week with no update. They legally have 21 days, they aren't even loading until the 24th day as of now when I spoke to them.

    I have had to call them for every update while I sleep on the floor and eat take out because I have none of my belongings. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with - and I am a very easy going person. Please avoid this company, I truly believe their good reviews are fake. They do not have an associated account or any other reviews. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. PLEASE DON'T SAY "that won't happen to me"... DON'T BE ME. 3,000 (a thousand more than I signed), no delivery in sight, and I literally had a couch, coffee table, tv stand, tv, queen mattress and 10 boxes. Less than a one bedroom apartment of things and it was somehow $3,000 and a month to even deliver... Maybe...

    They always return my call and they are very prompt. They scratched one of my tables and sent someone to repair it. The guy repaired it and called me back.     When the driver first picked up the vehicle, the inspection was very thorough. He had a co-worker with him and both took a lot of pictures. The driver said he would let me know when he arrived because he wasn't sure if they had room. But he said he has another facility and he had no problem putting it there, but it was 30 minutes outside of the city. After he arrived, he said, “I've confirmed that we're just going to leave it here, 15 minutes from the airport. It’s secure.” I texted him when I landed and he said to come and get my car. The car was in the same condition. The final pricing was accurate, too. I was able to pick it up easily and there wasn't a hassle.

    Man oh man, I wish I would have listened to my first gut and not booked with them. When reviewing online, I came across some poor reviews but while on the phone with a manager (great salesman) he reassured that a couple bad apples do not reflect the company. So I decided to book them. Let me say, those bad apples DO indeed reflect the company. America First uses 3rd party movers who are the furtherest from a professional move.

    Those who picked up my items in Chicago were amazing. Friendly, explained everything, and handled items with care and had proper equipment to move. The drop-off was an experience I wouldn't put my enemies through. I received a call that delivery is expected Friday 7am-9am. What moving company delivers items at 7 am? My apartment leasing office wasn't even open at the time. First red flag, to be charged an additional waiting fee when in reality that 7 am time frame shouldn't even be there. 5 minutes into the move, I am holding the door while watching the man open the truck.

    My stuff is leaning over harder than the tower of Pisa. I watched him handle my boxes with no worries in the world. As I can see, standing 20 feet away the red fragile stickers I placed on my boxes. Maybe he was color blind and/or English wasn't his first language. But fragile was the furtherest thing applied to my boxes. He placed the couch on the elevator and I held the elevator while he retrieved more items. Before even unwrapping I see damage to my couch. This is 15 minutes into the move and the items aren't even in my apartment. So much for door to door service I paid for. From there, my items were handled in a rush manner. As if he was so busy but yet I did not see any assistance from his "team".

    I WAS THE ASSISTANCE. At this point put me on payroll. I was told I had to pay first in order to receive my items. And I shared I wanted to see my things first. Now I know why they make you pay first. Because after you see your items, you won't want to pay. The drop-off did not use appropriate materials, my floors weren't protected and my furniture was not reassembled as stated in the contract. 80% of my big items were broken, the whole reason I hired movers was for the big pieces. Now I am responsible for removing the broken furniture by myself. At this point, they could've just dropped the items off at the dumpster but it probably would've been an extra fee. Please, please trust your gut when looking into movers. Go directly to a reliable moving company and not a broker.

    The move with America First Moving wasn't terrible. The only downside was, I got my truck back and the driveshaft was broken. The first guy that I spoke to was a good guy. But after that, it was a mess trying to get ahold of everybody after that. It didn’t matter because when I got ahold of them, I couldn't understand them and when they reached out, they said that the price was gonna go up. The driver also didn't speak English.

The man I spoke with at their dispatch sent me the inspection report that was taken upon pickup and delivery. I forwarded not only the report but also the pictures of the truck. The records show the vehicle arrived in the same condition it was picked up in. We also researched this and it seems it's a situation that seems to occur most likely overt time. (What can cause a drive shaft to fail?

    For example, common causes of faults include worn or insufficiently lubricated universal joints (u-joints), bad rubber bearings, and a loose shaft. If the joints fail to support the shaft, you may hear it scraping along the road beneath you. Other issues may include a badly damaged tube or a faulty slip yoke.     The guy I spoke with at America First, Gavin, was super cool and not pushy like the other companies. He took the time to talk to me but I was at work at the time, so he was quick and efficient. He gave me a quote over the phone when everybody else was saying that they wanted to see my stuff. Gavin was super reliable, too. When there were a couple of hiccups during the move, I just called him and he explained the process. He was friendly and made it really easy.

    But the crew that came out was three hours late. They called and said they were leaving a place in about half an hour and when I looked it up, it was about an hour away from where I was. I told them to just give me a heads-up when they were close. That way, I could make sure that my little dog and cat were away and put in the car. So, I sat there for hours and at 8:00 P.M., I called them to make sure they were still coming. They said they could still come if it was okay with me or they could come in the morning, but it would have to be super early. They said sorry and that they were stuck in traffic. It was a little weird but they got there at about 8:00 that night.

    Other than that, when I was speaking with Gavin, he let me know that if I didn't want to package some things, they'd put the TV into a box or they'd do X, Y, and Z. He said it was all calculated in the estimate he was going to give me because I didn't have a whole lot of stuff. But I ended up packaging everything and the only thing that I needed help with was the bed frame where the T comes together. I needed an Allen wrench to loosen that and fold it up. When I told the movers about it, they were sad but they did it and they were polite.

    In the end, all my stuff made it on time. My TV stand has a little crack in the top and they didn't put a mattress cover on my mattress, so my mattress has dust, spots, and dirt on it. When the movers came in, they told me they were going to cover everything. They wrapped the couch, the coffee table, and the TV stand. Then, they took one little moving blanket and put it over one side of the mattress, but they told me they were going to cover it with plastic to make sure. But then they just did the one little moving blanket over one corner. Also, it was in the contract that there was coverage up to a certain amount if anything was broken or not intact. But nobody really told me how to do that. It's not a big deal though. Stuff happens and I get it.

    Updated on 04/16/2023: Customer service experience was great right from beginning, with quote provider to call center interaction. Pickup by 3rd party labor was not so great, same with drop off. Just had one furniture item damaged on the edge due to handling. Overall an okay experience and hence 4 stars out of 5

    Original Review: Our interaction with the quote provider was good because he was working remotely and he provided me with a competitive price that made me select them. But once the actual move happened, the quote that was provided was in no way in contention with what I was being served. When their movers came into my home and picked up all the stuff, they charged me more than half. My original quote was 2,900 and the guy who picked up my stuff provided me with a $5000 quote. He told me whatever the guy who was sitting in remote does not know the dimensions and he took a wrong dimension and the volume was way higher than what they mentioned. He checked off all the things that represented my apartment and he confirmed that everything was good from my side, but the quote which I was provided did not include the volume correctly. The guy did not calculate properly and I was charged 4,800 bucks.

    The delivery guys also called me up saying their truck wouldn't fit in an apartment and they would need to get another U-Haul and then they charged something more for that as well. I was clear since the beginning that my delivery will be in an apartment. All in all, what I was promised to what I paid end of the day was so bad and different. They also delayed the whole pick-up. My stuff was picked up around 1:00 AM after two days that was promised. Then it was so bad that I couldn't even call them. My mattress was also soaked in water and my TV stand was broken. I'm disappointed. I would not recommend America First Moving again to any of my friends or even to myself later on. The experience was so bad.

    I'm so pissed off at what they did. I had originally contracted through a rep and gave him a list of what I had. He told me things would be a certain way. But he had an accident and he was out of work. So, I started talking to his boss and his boss said, "Oh, no. It's not gonna be $6,800. It's gonna be $12,000." He said that he doesn't see the list I gave and because of that, it's gonna increase my cubic. The movers came and they were seven hours late. I didn't get any compensation. They started packing at 9 o'clock in the morning and didn't leave until almost midnight.

    I told the driver, "Because I paid for the whole truck, I'm putting my own lock on the truck. I don't want you guys having access to my stuff." I had cleared this with their dispatcher. The driver said, "If I cut off your lock, that's not my problem because I need to put my stuff back here." I told him he didn't need to put his stuff back there because I had paid for the entire truck. That was a big fiasco. Then, I kept getting phone calls from their drivers asking, "Can't we deliver early?" But, I don't take possession of the destination house until December 15th.

    When they got here, they had three guys and they were posting on Craigslist trying to find people to help unpack stuff because they couldn't do it. They knew how much stuff I had because they were the same drivers who loaded up in Florida. Plus, they damaged stuff and I put it on the packing slip. They said they would turn it in. But I haven't gotten a phone call from them and my things are still broken. Stay clear from these crooks. They lie and they have no work ethic. They show up late and they break your things.

    Ms. Jennifer, the first inventory that we were given had 257 pieces on the inventory and the Quality Assurance call ended with 341 pieces. If you add more items, the price is going to increase. We do apologize for the delay of the drivers, these are real guys on real roads and delays can and do happen. It sounds like they worked hard to get everything packed in 1 day by working extra hours for you. You did have almost two full trucks worth of items. That does take time to disassemble, pack, wrap, and load. Unfortunately, they could not accommodate locking the truck with your lock. No moving company is locking their company vehicle with a personal lock. If they ever needed for any reason, for example weigh stations checking trucks they need access to show officials what they are transporting per DOT. These drivers also drive long distances by themselves and then hire local movers to help load and unload. They believed they needed more people to get the job done so they were trying to find help fast. We did try to discuss these concerns with you over the phone.     I ended up going with America First Moving Services because they were very upfront. They were very transparent about the price, and it didn't change. Once America First reached out, I stayed with the same rep the entire time. And once I got the rep on the phone, I went through my inventory. I was candid about what I had, and my measurements and sizes of everything, and my own inventory. I also sent them pictures so that everything was crystal clear for them. They sent it to their logistics department to make sure that the square footage on the truck was gonna be accurate.

    After they did that, I got the email quote. Once I saw it and I saw the price point, I said, "Okay, let me go ahead and do it." So, I went ahead and signed all the documents. Everything was via DocuSign. So once I signed the document, I pay my deposit, which was easy and convenient. And after I paid the deposit, I got a call from logistics where they were able to put me on the schedule sooner than we anticipated. And from there, everything started happening.

    The movers were there the next day. They called me 45 minutes before they got there. It was raining that day. They were very mindful, 'cause in my apartment I had white carpet. They put on little booties. And they were careful with my items. I appreciated that. The management, the customer service, the rep that I dealt with, everyone was phenomenal. They were helpful. So, it made for a pleasant experience. If I ever have to move cross-country again, I'm going back to them.

But when it all came down to it, they showed up, loaded everything up and delivered everything when I needed them to. So, they performed good in my book. The quote was determined on how much stuff we estimated that I was going to have. It was all calculated and had an estimated date that I was gonna need them for. They pressed for the 1/3 deposit to secure that rate. But all companies are that way. America First Moving seemed fair and didn't charge me any more than the contract that I signed. There were no other surprises so, it was fine. The crew were professional and did what I asked them to do. They did a good job and seemed to have some care in my stuff.

    I called America First Moving Services. I explained that we were moving out of state from Nevada to Wisconsin. They wanted to know exactly what I had, as far as moving, because they could give me somewhat of a quote. I started getting quotes from them, which started to be $3,200. Next thing I knew, we were way up to $9,000. I didn't even get half my stuff. They broke in half a brand-new kitchen table. I had a golf cart I paid extra money for to have transported. It had scratches and dents in there that I told them, "Be careful with it." My brand-new freezer got all dents along in the door. Boxes missing.

    America First subleased out to another person, which I was not told. These people are in Florida. I have somebody from California, which makes sense, because that's where they're located. Also, after they had my truck loaded up, I said, "Where are you taking this?" They said, "We're going back to Sacramento with it." I said, "Because I'm not ready to leave Reno. You gotta give me a bit here. I want you to pick it up and I'll give you a call when to start with your delivery." A couple of days later, they said, "They're on their way." But I told them that in the beginning that I'm not ready to leave. That was when it went to storage, and half my stuff was lost and broken. They do a bait and switch. I never would have went with them people if this is how it was. I shouldn't have to make a claim and keep calling, and be offered 70 bucks. I'm a dissatisfied customer.
