I have my device with me all the time, but I have never had to use it so far. I’ve recommended LifeStation especially to people like me.
Reviewed Sept. 17, 2022
The people are great. If you hit the LifeStation device somewhere, they’ll come right over. The other day, just walking around, I hit it on something and the people came over. They think I fell down. So, I got to the door and told them I didn't. I just happened to hit it somewhere, so it went off. And they go, “Okay.” They came so fast and they were good about it. The device makes me feel comfortable and like somebody is there watching over me. I don't have to worry about me falling down because nobody's gonna come over and take care of me. But this device does right away.

The only thing I don't like about the system is that when I punch the button to test the unit, it's so loud. Other than that, it's there when I need it. The lights are on when I check the unit and the people I speak with are very good.

I fell one time and hit my head and I was bleeding quite badly. I had a couple of great-granddaughters that were sleeping, but they couldn't hear me holler. So, I pushed my button and an ambulance and a fire truck came out and helped me. They were right there. It wasn't very long at all. I feel a lot safer with LifeStation.

Always seems to work. Have not had any problems with it when testing. The problem is the size. Way too big. Putting it under my shirt leaves a huge bulge. Outside the shirt it is heavy and swings which is annoying. I am considering possibly going to a different company. Any suggestions you have I am open. Bill **

The LifeStation is a big help. If my mother-in-law falls, we'd want to go to the hospital right away. If something happens, she has the device.
Reviewed Aug. 1, 2022
It was annoying that LifeStation sent me the wrong device. “We didn't have the one you want, so we sent you this.” I said, “I don't want this. I want the one that I saw on the internet.” They threatened me. “If you don't send this back, you're gonna have to pay for it.” It’s office workers and warehouse workers. I said, “Well, what would give them the right to send me the wrong one just because the other one was out of stock?” But it's all right. I sent the wrong one back, and they sent me the right one.
I dropped it the other day, and nobody called me. One day, I put it on the bed, and I must have tossed it too hard when I came in from taking the garbage out. LifeStation called me. “Did you fall? Is everything okay?” I said, “No, I must have tossed it too hard.” But when I dropped it on the floor, nobody called me. One time, I called them and it said, “Nobody is here to answer your call.” I was very upset. Also, I wish the device was smaller. It's cumbersome. When I go to bed, it tangles up. So, I have a table next to my bed, and I put it there. And when I get up, I put it on again. I never leave the apartment without putting it on, even to take the garbage out.

Having LifeStation is something that when I'm out that I can have on me. So, if something were to go on, that's most important that I could be able to push the button and get some help. And if somebody was with me, and that happens, for someone else. On occasion, I check my heart rate if I'm moving doing something and I feel like, "Oh, my goodness. Let me check, my heart's racing too much. I might need to slow it down." It has been good for that. It's good when my family and everybody is gone and I'm the only one home, and something were to happen. That was the primary reason for me to have like that.

Several years ago we researched and chose Lifestation as the alert necklace service for our mother. Many times we were alerted when it was moved inadvertently. Rather than being annoyed we were happy to know she was ok. One time the product did exactly what it was supposed to do and sent help and notified us. We were so thankful.
NOW we have been told that we will not be notified unless EMS is called or if she presses her button (which is an issue since she gets confused.). We were also never notified of this change! She just fell two days in a row (hard falls) and the necklace did not go off. This is a real issue. When calling about this the worker checked the signal and was helpful but had no answer and had to refer to a supervisor. She did her best. From the beginning the supervisor Asia was brusque, rude and dismissive.
When asked about the issue of 2 falls and no alert activations, her response included “even with hard falls you may have to push the button”. When I said that requiring a button push for notification would not work for us, I was told that is way it has always been (which it has not based on our text records.) When I said then I would need to call some other companies since that feature was extremely important for us, she responded “well all companies are alike and do the same thing so go ahead!” WOW.
We will be canceling our Lifestation “service” and even if another device works exactly the same way, we will change to a company with supervisors that are much less rude. That should be easy to do. Sorry Lifestation, your changed policies without notification and your rude supervisor has lost one customer. Maybe others will also be alerted.

They claim they mailed a shipping label which never arrived.
1 month later and still nothing but yet they were continuing to take the payment out of my account, putting my bank account into negative balance and causing overcharge fees. I continued to call. They not once tried to work with me even knowing the product was disconnected and boxed ready to ship back. Then finally after about 2 months they decided to email me the package label but then I had a hard time getting it printed due to everything being shut down due to the Covid-19. Price is best among highly rated systems; however, their service is erratic; (1) specifically, we bought the extra "fall down" feature, but today Burton fell down, did NOT get a call back and when he pressed the button the service said, "We do NOT call you; you have to press button to call us." Didn't your records show that we paid extra for the fall-down button and feature???
(2) As company recommends, at end of our first month of service, we pressed button to confirm that our connection was working properly. However, after waiting nearly a minute (between time from initial pick-up, to their transfer and wait), THEN the recording said the signal was too weak and they could not connect. Before accepting the LifeStation system we tested (called via the button) from 5-6 different location in our 10 floor high-rise concrete/steel building, including in the basement and on the elevator. This test of service call was from Burton's kitchen (7th floor of building), so NO acceptable reason for failed connection.

There needs to be more work and research done on these units or they are not worth the money.

I'm docking them 1 star because my brother had long wait times contacting LifeStation support during setup. ----- It works great now ----- When my mother pushed the panic button, everything worked perfectly. LifeStation called me promptly, and I was able to get Mom on her land line. I returned the call to LifeStation's emergency number, and they were able to cancel the 911 response before it arrived. No waiting when we really needed it.
Another nice thing... when I called back, I talked to the same person who had called earlier. I didn't have to explain anything, just had to say "Mom's OK, cancel the 911". I'm going to change the call list to have LifeStation call Mom first. Her landline rings in every room of the house, so that gives us the best of both worlds: a 5-year battery on her panic button, and the ability to contact her anywhere.

I am now on the phone trying to get to a supervisor to cancel the order. The person today was trying to say I could just mail it back, isn't that nice!!! The supervisor apologized but now my mom will have to watch for the package, write return to sender and my credit card was charged today so I will get my refund once they receive it back. They billed my credit card before the time was up to cancel. They wanted to charge me for the whole year if my loved one died before the year was up (even if they died the day after I ordered). Their contracts contradicted themselves. I mailed the system back with a letter and they said they received the system and not the letter. My mother lives in Texas and I live in Idaho. I wanted her to be safe in her home, so ordered the LifeStation necklace for her. The service was never activated, as my mother was not able to understand how to do it. LifeStation started charging my credit card the monthly service fee of $27.94 before the equipment even arrived at my mother's and then charged another month while I closed the account and worked to get the equipment from my mother and returned at my own expense.
When I closed the account, they said they would charge me over $300 for the equipment if not returned. They did not say they would continue charging me the service fee as long as the equipment was not returned, so I selected the less expensive shipping option at the Post Office. Bad choice. Now, I am waiting to see if they will continue to charge me the service fee now the equipment has been returned. I consider this company a little predatory and not totally up front with their charges. They shouldn't start charging the monthly service fee before the service is activated and certainly not before the equipment has even arrived. They should be upfront about the cost of the equipment, too, and how long one has to return it without penalty other than the cost of shipping.

I contacted Tyler at LifeStation, and he sold me on their company for alert systems for my parents. I ordered two. Because of the way LifeStation has things set up each of my parents had to have different accounts. I set them up, gave them their address and phone numbers, they said the systems would be sent as soon as my credit card cleared. I get an email stating that my system is en route and be delivered in 2 days. I called and asked why they were shipping it to me. They stated that one of the accounts had been incorrectly updated. They then asked me to forward the package to my parents. I asked why I couldn't refuse it and they send out a new one to the correct address. They acted like that was a big inconvenience.
After a back and forth they told me I could return the one sent to me and once I gave them the tracking number, they would send out the new one. I refused the one sent to me, the post office said it would return on the same tracking number. I called customer service explained everything, and the first thing they asked was for my parents phone number so they could call them and explain how to return the unit. These people are responsible for handling emergency situations, and they can't even send the unit correctly, or understand the situation. They finally figured it out. My mom said she was embarrassed that time which was why she didn't call me. That's when I decided to get her a medical alert device.
Thus far, my mom's Life Station has gone off about four times in the last month and it has been a nuisance. It's around her neck and she seems to press it. She used to wear it on her back when she sleeps but then I tightened it up and it's now on hear breast. They've sent out the fire department three times and I don't know if they're gonna start charging her. LifeStation has told me to cut the cord and make it shorter but then that was worse. The LifeStation reps I dealt with were great. They were very courteous, professional, understanding, and patient. I now feel a little more secure since my mom got the LifeStation. She wears it and we kind of joke with her because all her friends have them. It’s kinda like a status thing. When they come to visit her, they even leave their homes wearing them and they never take them off. But I know I have a 96-year-old aunt that does not wear it.
Other than that, our experience with LifeStation has been pretty good and we would recommend it to friends. But it seems like it takes a very long time from when we press the button until the person on the other end responds. We’ve done a couple of tests and it takes up to a minute and a half for their rep to get on the phone. My mom doesn't count by the time and she counts the rings. And she said that it takes 15 rings. I had been in the hospital and I was coming home to an empty house, so the hospital recommended that I get a medical alert device. I like having my LifeStation device. I wear it around my neck and I don’t even think about it. Some time in the last two and a half years, the battery died. LifeStation called me and sent a new one. There was a couple of false alarms on my end and both times, it was a mistake or I inadvertently pushed it when I was moving around, and it was fine. They did what they were supposed to do. I just told them I mistakenly pushed it.

We go through the routine every month where my mother has to go through and do the test for her LifeStation device. She pushes the button and the alarm goes through. Someone comes on the speaker to see if they can communicate with her and if they can’t, then they initiate a call to the rescue folks. She’s always paranoid that she’ll push it by mistake and they’ll show up so we usually do it when my wife and I are with her to work through the process.
The previous month, I actually did the test and we had an issue. The thing didn’t go through. But for the most part, it works fine. There was this one incident where they didn’t call back right away. I eventually called them and they indicated that they were trying to talk to us, but they couldn’t hear anything. It seemed to be some kind of a software glitch. They couldn’t give us an explanation for it, and it was a one-off. As long as it doesn’t reoccur, that’s fine. One general observation is an elderly person is very wary of technology. The biggest problem is to get my mom to wear the button because she doesn’t wanna set it off accidentally. The challenge from a design perspective is having it so that they won’t set it off accidentally and therefore will wear it, and yet not making it so complicated that they can’t do it.

We were recommended LifeStation by Kaiser Permanente, as it's the service they find to be the best for their members. My husband accidentally pushed the "EMERGENCY" button, but didn't know about the "Clear" button to cancel the notification. Somebody at LifeStation responded within seconds to ask us about our emergency, at which time I notified her of my husband's mistake. I was very much impressed by the IMMEDIATE RESPONSE a slight touch of that button brought to us. I wear a button on a necklace while in the house, and feel a wonderful sense of security (even more so now that my husband made his "mistake") while home. Many thanks to LifeStation; I would recommend it to anybody concerned about safety at home and the ability to reach help when needed.

I recently switched my husband's medic alert system from another provider to LifeStation because LifeStation's infrastructure is more flexible, allowing an unlimited number of people on the emergency call list, setting up emergency instructions the way you'd like them to be handled, and not forcing you to receive unsolicited calls from the company. I learned about LifeStation from my insurance provider. Aetna offers a very good discount on the monthly service, and I was not charged for setup, shipping, or equipment. The in-home emergency call box is a GSM signal and has a range of approximately 500 feet, as opposed to WIFI's range of 35 feet.
I originally ordered the mobile GPS unit that would respond no matter where he was, but that option comes in necklace form only (no bracelet) and is several inches long. My husband is already wearing a Bluetooth device on a cord for his hearing aids to connect to his phone, plus he has an ICD (pacemaker and defibrillator) implanted, so he opted for the in-home unit. LifeStation Customer Service was very helpful in exchanging the mobile unit for the in-home unit. They sent a return label with the new unit. Setting up the in-home call box was easy. The call button comes as a very light necklace; to switch it to the wristband, you have to insert two pins to connect the wristband to the call button. My husband chose to wear the wristband. Switching the call button from the necklace to the wristband was the hardest part, but my husband said that all watches he's had work that way. He says the wristband is comfortable.

1. The company requires a signed agreement. However, they will not provide a copy of the agreement in advance for your review. You must sign up for the service first. (The agreement is inserted in the box with the device.) 2. They messed up my order, mailing the device to me when it should have gone to my Dad who lives in a different state. They said they'd mail one right out to him while I returned the one sent to me. When they received the device that I mailed back, their system cancelled the entire account AND cancelled the shipment to my dad. I gave them one more chance. Silly me.
3. I purchased an insurance plan. The card in the box with the device said that the insurance would cover replacement of the device twice a year. However, the company agent said that the insurance information on the card was NOT CORRECT for the device that I had and would only cover replacement of the device once a year. 4. I cancelled the service and discovered that the only way to get a refund was to call and ask for it. The company said they would be able to process the refund within 24 to 48 hours of receiving the returned device. Five days after the device was received by them (per USPS tracking info), the company still did not have record that they had received the device. 5. Be aware that if you cancel the service, you must return the device or it will cost you (or your estate) $350.

But that's probably more about his sense of independence than anything else. The device gives me much better security as his son especially not living with him and knowing he needs it.
The only challenge is that the device is in his bedroom, and if he was very far away from it, he would not be able to talk to the person in another room. He probably wouldn’t be able to hear them well enough to be able to respond to them. So, they would just have to send somebody anyway assuming that it was worse than it might be. But that’s just him. That’s not necessarily the box. If the box is in the middle of the house, plugged in, in the very center of the house, that might help that situation. But there's no telephone jack right there. I got the LifeStation last April of 2018 and in the beginning, I was wearing it at night. But I was having trouble with it around my neck, so my son fixed it for my wrist. I wore it during the night again but one morning, I must have rolled on it and it woke me up at about 8:00 o’clock. I answered the phone and it was their rep who said that my alarm had gone off.
Then one time, when I was outside pulling weeds, it went off. But there was nothing around except weeds and I couldn't have hit it against anything. I can’t even imagine how it would have gone off while I was just in the yard pulling weeds. My son even called an ambulance because the device couldn't get me. I was too far away and I didn't hear the phone in the house. In the end, I called 911 and they were just getting ready to send somebody. So at least nobody came out. But everything went the way it should. At another time, I hit the device on the washer when it was on the bar in my kitchen. So it seems to go off easily and I felt bad because my kids were being notified and they’d be calling. I was getting tired of it but they said that at least they know that the LifeStation works. The last month has been okay though because I haven’t been wearing it. I have it in my walker bag and that's with me all the time. Then I just put it on my nightstand at night.

My neighbor across the street who’s older than me also had a LifeStation before me and when he was having a heart attack, the device was wonderful for him. He called then they sent an ambulance out right away and everything was fine. So if somebody wants the service, I would recommend it. Plus, the LifeStation makes my kids feel better, so I keep it.

My mother was having health issues and getting the LifeStation made sense. She didn't like the idea that she had to have it but we felt that it was necessary for her to be able to summon help as she needed it. We found it assuring that she had it. When we tested the button, the response was immediate. We had the service for less than a year and LifeStation did everything it was supposed to. But we got to the point where we didn't need the system anymore and therefore, we sent it back.

My mother is 90 and she fell at the time, so we looked into getting a medical alert device for her and the LifeStation device was what we had. When I was messing with it, I accidentally pressed the button and set the alarm off. But we didn't really care for it. I thought it was more like a cellphone and she could just press a button and talk into a little thing from her neck if she was out in the yard and fell. But the device was in the kitchen and she wouldn’t be able to hear the LifeStation team and they wouldn’t be able to hear her either unless she was near the kitchen so I didn’t see the point. The device was great, but it didn’t make any sense to me that you had to be within shouting range of it. It would be perfect if you live in a small apartment, but my mother lives in an average, Grade 2 house. We only had the device for a month and the reps were great when we called to return it.

My husband had a stroke and he’s paralyzed on one side so he’s in a wheelchair. There are times when I have to go to the doctor or the grocery store and I don’t take him, so I needed something where in case something should come up, he could get help. We purchased a medical alert device from LifeStation which I put around his neck as it’s easier for him that way. We've accidentally hit the button a couple of times and they esponded. They're very courteous and sweet about it. Since having the device, I have peace of mind. My husband feels better too knowing that he's a just a push of a button.
The only complaint I have is the button, especially on the necklace. I've set it off on the wrist when I was getting my husband out of bed. The button sticks up instead of down so it’s easy to set it off and not know about it. One day the police showed up and I didn’t know what was going on, and I had set the device off. I had leaned forward and it touched something and I put pressure on it. I was outside when I’d done it, so I didn’t hear the deal inside the house. Even so, us being on a fixed income, this device is perfect. I checked in on other brands and for the same thing that LifeStation does, the others are way too expensive.

My mom stays with me but there are times when I have to leave and I’m not with her 24/7. She has been falling periodically and we were concerned that if she fell and nobody was around, she couldn’t get to the phone. So, we looked into something where she could feel safer and more at ease. I always tell her to wear the necklace and have her phone on her at all times. If for some reason, I am not able to get to her within a reasonable amount of time, she could get the help that she needs. So, that takes off quite a bit of load and concern.
My mother has the device on her and she might be leaning up against the counter or a table and set it off. Myself, my daughter and another friend would all be immediately alerted and right away, they would call my mom. The device that we had before was more designated for her home but as she has gotten older, I’m having her stay with me until we figure things out. The one that we have now is great because it allows her to go anywhere. So, she can use it at both at my house and hers. I like that feature on that particular kind of alert system so, that’s the one that I would recommend unless somebody is bound to their home, but this makes it a lot easier.

But I lay the device gently on the bed, and it calls me back several times. I told them to cancel my service. They said that they can't do that then there's one rep that told me things about what I must be doing wrong. I said the problem is that it was a defective unit. That was when he said that I gotta pay all that I owe, send that one back, and they'll ship me a new unit. But in the meantime, he asked if I was sure that it was properly positioned. I told them that there was one incident that I hit the floor but was not totally unconscious. I ended up with the ambulance taking me to the hospital, and staying overnight, and had a severe concussion, yet my unit did not go off.
I took very serious calls in a doctor's office and they had tile floors. If I went to stand up, I fell and couldn't catch myself and I hit this on my head and was not unconscious for quite a while. They called the ambulance people who took me to the hospital and observed me for 24 hours, and they kept checking on me because I wasn't with it at all. The neck alarm went off, and that was the second time. The first time, I had fallen in the bathtub and it didn't go off. But I was able to come out of that one. But the unconscious thing and concussion are what it boiled out to. I had two incident like that, but that was the worse one. On that one, he never acknowledged that the unit could be defective. I told him that I'm not paying another dime until they send somebody back on this phone to call me and tell me what's going on.
I'm waiting for a resolution of some manager to call me back, to say how that rep did not do his job. He tried to put the responsibility back on me. The problem is while this is happening now, in the beginning and all throughout the whole time that I have the unit, it will go off if I took it off to take a shower, lay it gently next to the tub, and hang it gently on my doorknob. The crew would call and they're on the case. But then when I took the fall in the tub, nothing happened and nobody called.
The necklace was very comfortable and I was very happy to have it because I had spinal surgery and had some nerve damage. The fall was becoming more frequent and I said that I better get something to help protect me because I'm a very active person. I'm 54, but I'm out and about a lot. It was important for me to know that if I'm out and in the mall, that if I fell, somebody would come and check on me. But I don't wear it anymore, because it didn't do me any good. I just took off on my own on my walker. It was not a good experience for me, so I quit. LifeStation was not there when I really needed them.
In the meantime, I picked up a new service, and its provider has already been alerted and took care of me at the airport yesterday in Newark. Immediately, the thing went off and they notified all the right people. The ambulance came and by that time I was on my feet, other people had helped me out. At least I know this one really does works.

I went down on the yard and stayed a couple of hours there. That made me decide to get a medical alert device and I got LifeStation. However, I don't like the device because I'm short and it's always in the way. I send it off every time I lean against the cupboard. I tried to adjust the necklace, but there's no place to go that I don't find it in the way. I've bumped the device thrice and I've talked to their team members where my experience was okay. I hope I never need it, but the LifeStation makes my son feel safer for me.

I've hit the button on my LifeStation device a couple of times when I first got it and their team responded immediately. They were calling me and I kept hearing somebody calling my name. They asked me if I was all right. However, I'm not too happy with the necklace part of it and I wish I had gotten a bracelet instead. It's so heavy and it spoils the looks of my clothes. I wear it in my bra and that was how I set it off. I had leaned against something, apparently, and I've hit the button, and I did it twice. I haven't checked it recently to see if it's working, but it flashes blue and I assume that means it needs charging, so I put it on the charger, then it doesn't flash blue anymore.

I had tried one but I was not happy with it. I sent everything back because that thing went off at the drop of a hat. It was always going off. I have LifeStation right now and I like it. I have no problem with this one so far. I’ve been lucky enough not to have to use it. But I know it’s there. My personal experience with LifeStation is not good and based on that, I cannot recommend this medical alert service. I subscribed, but 24 hours later I resolved the issue I had with my current medical alert provider, so I cancelled my LifeStation account. I paid the first month and was promised a refund. Equipment returned, I closed my account and was told no further charges would be charged to my account. The next day, I had an additional $40 charge on my card, just like that!
I called and was told the charge was for a missing lock box. I explained again my equipment package was not opened and I had refused delivery of the equipment package and it was redirected back to LifeStation. (You cannot refuse package delivery if the package has been opened.) No way a lock box was missing from my end. Again, I am promised a second refund. Now I’m out two charges to LifeStation and still waiting for both refunds at Christmas time, and with several phone calls to boot! My 30 day money-back guarantee battle is not over!

We kids were looking for a life alert system for both mom and dad and LifeStation was the first one that called back when I inquired about the system. They were very quick and answered all our questions. My mom was mostly falling and when one of us kids isn’t in town, we wanna make sure they get to call the ambulance as fast as possible. My mom wears the device around the wrist but it was not designed for somebody who has tiny wrists and she has a very tiny wrist. It falls off so we had to adjust it.
My dad has one too that he wears on his wrist. LifeStation sends the same kind for both male and female and they don’t necessarily work for the female. So, having size variation in their bracelets would be nice. My father uses a walker everywhere but they still get around. They live in a home and they still go to another town and have dinner. We worry when they do that and it’s dark out and snowy. If we could have something that works with the cell tower like the phone system and they could push the button if they were outside or in another town, it would be even more efficient. Nevertheless, I would recommend LifeStation. With LifeStation, we kids feel that they're more safe.

I had a stroke in December and I was confined for six weeks in the hospital. Then, when I came out of the hospital and the nursing home, I had the LifeStation medical alert device and it is fine. having it helps me to feel more secure because I live alone and I'm old at 83 years, even though my daughter is just a mile away. Had someone not come immediately to me when I had my last fall, I would have bled to death. It was rather bad. I was bleeding profusely, had five broken bones, and injured my brain. But I went to answer the door and my daughter was there. She came in and got me to the hospital.
Thankfully, I have not had to use my alert device for help yet, as I have not had an emergency since I got it. But I have accidentally touched the help button a few times. The cord or string around my neck that holds the alert device is down and kinda long, and sometimes I bump it against something, so I wrap the cord again and make it go up high. Also, if I pick something up and put it up against my body, it might touch the help button. The LifeStation team was very quick to respond. Before I could get from one room to the next to reach the device and turn it off, they had answered and were talking to me. So, their response time was very good. I was very pleased about that and I would recommend LifeStation.

At the time we first chose LifeStation, we went with them because of the fall detection that was offered within the system. Getting it was good. However, I wasn't educated well enough and I ended up paying $5 more a month because we had a cellular-based instead of a wire-based. Then, we tried something else which didn't work for my mother. That unit has basically a small cellphone and the system would work both in the house and outside the house, but she didn't wanna wear it because it was too big. She also had trouble getting it into the base to charge it. She couldn't manage it. So, it was not usable.
We went back to the first one and so far, it's much more comfortable with her living at home alone with that device. Because it has the fall detection in it, she used to set it off accidentally. But, she's also used it when she needed it a couple of times and it worked fine every time. The only thing is if LifeStation can develop the cellular-based system to have a battery that can last several months and then I can replace it without being charged. Other than that, everything has been fine.

I appreciate the LifeStation team who has been most polite whenever I speak with them. I had an experience where they called me at 3 o’clock in the morning wanting to know about my emergency. I was then sound asleep so I told them that the life alert was in its cradle and I don’t know why it was calling me. LifeStation called me back three minutes later asking again how they could help me. At 3 in the morning, that wouldn’t make me happy. So, I looked for the device. It wasn’t in the cradle and I didn’t find it where I thought it might be. I was talking to the LifeStation rep the whole time that I was looking for it. I was upset. I told him that I couldn’t find it, and I asked if they would keep calling. He said that on the third time, they would just call an emergency vehicle. But then he said he would leave a note that I was alright.
Then the next morning, I went to the front door. I have a table by the entryway and there was my life alert. And so, I figured it out that my husband, who has dementia, wanders during the night sometimes because he hears music that’s not there. And he walks all over the house trying to turn it off. Apparently, he saw the light that was on when it was charging. Then he picked it up, trying to turn off the music that was not there. He must have left it on that table as he walked through the house. I was grateful the LifeStation team didn’t come knocking down my door.
I really don’t wear my life alert as much as I should. I only weigh 85 pounds and the device weighs me down. If it weren’t so heavy, I would wear it. Also, for a long time, I was disappointed because it would go off for no reason when all I had done was put it gently on the bed. But that hasn’t happened lately. I would recommend LifeStation.

Luckily, a niece of hers was going to her house to pick her up to go somewhere, so when she couldn’t get a hold of her, she knew something was wrong. In the end, they got in the house and took Aunt Sally to the hospital for a few days. Then she went to rehab and we decided that she needed a medical alert device when she went home. She didn’t break anything but she was beat up pretty good. So, she got the LifeStation and so far, she is happy with it. She wears it when she’s at home and she has it right by her bed at night so that if she needs it, it’s right there. But when she goes out, she's with somebody and she doesn’t wear it unless she forgets to take it off.
Several times, she accidentally pressed the button and LifeStation's reps called us. We went down and they called the EMTs who also went there on three occasions, but they were all false alarms. Aunt Sally either rolled over on the device in bed or bumped it. It’s very sensitive because one time she had no clue that she’d done it. She was fixing her dinner and she must’ve had it around her neck and she must’ve bumped it. So at the time, she was sitting on her chair and eating, then the ambulance and all these people came.
All those times, LifeStation's reps were very quick at calling us and getting the EMTs there. One time, when we got down there and everything was okay, my husband called LifeStation right away and they canceled the EMTs, but there were local volunteer fire department people who came anyway because they like to check things out just to make sure. All in all, LifeStation is worth every penny because even though those were false alarms, they were there. They called us, we were there, and the device works really well.

However, the device for my dad didn’t work so we sent it back to get another one. When we got my mom’s, the same thing happened. Then, the alarm went off and the volume didn’t work. So, the ambulance showed up and there was no need for them but whatever was on our end couldn’t respond because we couldn’t hear the person that there was something wrong with the device. So, we had to replace it a second time.
When I talked to the people, they made it sound like it was a problem with my parents and not with the device. However, it was the device because they were able to check it. I thought having the device was gonna be a relief but because of the issues that we had, my parents didn’t wanna wear it because they felt that if it went off and they couldn’t hear, the ambulance would come again. I would not recommend it.
