How does Rocket Lawyer work?
You’ll need to sign up for a membership to use anything Rocket Lawyer offers. There are two membership options, both of which include these benefits:

Watch out for Rocket Lawyer automatic renewals. They do not send out a email or any kind of warning that they are fixing to renew your subscription and charge you on your credit card. Now you're stuck with paying it once you see that they have already taken your money and will not refund it. Beware.

Complaint Category: Billing Issues / Professional Services Issues
Desired Resolution: Full refund of $1,639.86, immediate cancellation of services, and confirmation that they've withdrawn as attorney of record with USPTO so I can proceed pro se or with new counsel.
Complaint Details: I hired Rocket Lawyer on Aug 4, 2025 (Matter number: **), paying $589.87 for subscription and $349.99 for initial trademark filing. Emails confirmed $349.99 covered the first mark, with $350 billed for a second which was confirmed by the attorney that was appointed. However, on Aug 19, 2025, they charged an additional $350 and tried to claim extras were USPTO fees, but emails show they were legal fees, misrepresenting the billing. After multiple phone calls and emails demanding a refund, they were unresponsive. Now, there has been a USPTO office action as of Jan 12, 2026 (requiring a disclaimer) that was sent to them and there has been no action, despite follow-ups, risking abandonment by April 12, 2026. This has delayed my business and caused Amazon Brand Registry rejections due to the attorney and/or their representation not meeting standards.
Rocket Lawyer's unresponsiveness and misrepresentations breach their service agreement. I demand full refund, service cancellation, and withdrawal from USPTO as attorney of record to resolve promptly. If I don’t get that resolution, I’ll be submitting a complaint to the AZ Attorney General.

Their customer service is awful!! I have been billed twice for annual subscription because Apparently I have two lots of subscriptions... for the same email address & account, how?? (I don't) and I pay monthly on-top! Their billing is AWFUL, read the other reviews online! Phone number online doesn't work so don't bother calling that - I asked for a number to call and it's outside of the UK somewhere. Online chat service has the rudest people (shout out to you here, Aaron - customer service is not your thing)! This is not good value for money and I will not be lining their pockets anymore. Much better platforms out there which cost less, have better features and have friendly people at the other end with working telephone lines!

Thank you for your company and all the experiences I have had on here. I have been a member for a few years and have found so much help for minor and major issues. Currently I am doing my Last Will, and all the other paperwork I need for end of life issues. When I get it all completed, I will change my status and have the lawyers look it over and help me finish it so there will be no issues for my daughter upon my death. I have recommended ROCKET LAWYER to so many of my friends and especially the people in my GRIEF SHARE GROUP so they can do exactly what I am doing as far as will, etc. I have also told them as they are all seniors, to get help for other legal problems they have. I signed up for a one-year subscription and decided it wasn't what I was looking for. I requested a refund and very promptly they returned my money. They were very nice about it. I know in the future I will need their kind of help, and they are the ones I will go with. Genuinely kind people. Started a "7 day-trial", and cancelled it back in 22'. Turns our they had been charging me 39.99/mo since then! "No record of cancellation" - Can't get a full refund even though we didn't use their services. No email confirmations of membership, payment or subscription. CHECK YOUR STATEMENTS!!!

Otherwise, it will convert into a paid Rocket Legal Plan.

How misleading can a website be? Advertising FREE legal forms that are definitely NOT free. You are required to sign up for a "free" subscription for 7 days and then need to cancel it or you will be automatically charged. Of course, this catch is never mentioned until you take the time to enter all of the fields for the form you want - and then they spring it on you that it is not FREE. Waste of time.

Didn't answer questions and support didn't answer my requests to fix the issues with their service. No response when I asked to cancel their recurring fees and refund for non-service. Their support chat system is almost never available and their email support doesn't respond.
