Every bad thing that you heard about United healthcare is true. It is absolutely the worst company. Do not get your health care insurance through this company. They will deny claims. They will raise your rates. All your costs would go up. My cost went out from $10 to see a specialist to $45. Everything increased except their coverage. Dental coverage decrease. Visual coverage decrease. Customer service is the very worst uncaring attitudes. This company should not be dealing with healthcare. They're all about making money. Padding their stats, making billions for their investors and themselves. Do not use this company.

The worst insurance company rated for 2026. We are paying over $1200 for our plan. Yet I found out they do not take 20 years primary care doctor from Johns Hopkins. Their exception is manual, long, and requires many hours to compete and days to complete. Shame on United! Stay away from them. We have no choice as we are forced to stay with them. Meantime most primary cares are months away in our area to take new patients. Shame and shame on United!

Terrible insurance company. I have a UHC marketplace plan. I just almost dont have words for how bad they are. I am starting to get very depressed. They remind me of the fictitious insurance company "Great Benefit" in the movie "Rainmaker by John Grisham, circa 1997. I think maybe someone in this company decided it would be a great idea to use this fictitious company as a business model. Instead of a binder on how to deny claims, they use AI to deny claims. UnitedHealthcare Marketplace plans deny about 33% of its claims. I was denied an MRI at least twice. I paid out of pocket to find 2 displaced fractures now that can't be corrected. And as soon as the icd10 for fracture was added, they approved the MRI. Stupid indeed. I called them and they said it was approved...sure it was, the fractures were added after I paid for the MRI.

Recently had surgery, then had covid so I can't take oral steroids. I have crackles in both lung bases (fluid in my lungs) was denied a steroid inhaler. I guess if I start feeling worse, I can go to an ED that will cost them way more than the inhaler would have. They give you the network information so you choose, then they deny the claim even though they approved the visits because the facility is out of network. Everything takes double or triple the time. I should have been through surgery and PT before the end of December and here I am March of 2026.

If you have United Healthcare for your Medicare ADVANTAGE plan, know that they will cut you off from services very early on, every chance they get. My father has a fractured L3 and tore his right quadricep. He has pulmonary embolisms. Worst of all, he has this insurance plan. I keep having to file appeals to a third party when they keep denying his coverage at skilled nursing home. First he was denied for not being able to put weight on his right leg, so ho could he do physical therapy. I won. They cut him off again a 6 weeks later when he was just now able to put weight on his right leg, stand and start walking with help from others, They said okay, time to go. I just won that appeal. Horrible company. They truly operate in bad faith.

I had UHC for my insurance. I had to get foot surgery on my foot. I needed to have cardiac clearance for my surgery. Bay Area heart billed my visit into 2 separate days and used the wrong codes for billing. I am very unhappy that UHC. Did not pay for my clearance. I ended up by paying 164.94 to Bay Area heart. If this was billed altogether either the right codes I would have not owed anything. Please do not use UHC for your insurance ever. They should have made sure the billing codes were right so therefore the patient has to pay. Never use UHC no matter whatever. 😢😢😢😢

Called UnitedHealthCare to check if my doctor needed to fill out a form for me to get my insulin. Was transferred to five different departments. Each said I was at the wrong department. The sixth one asked for my member ID number. They could not find it. After checking manually he found it under a different number. Could not understand as every other department found me under the member ID I gave them. Plus I have a letter from UH with the same member ID number. Asked to speak to a manager to clear up the confusion. I am holding 20 minutes to speak to the person.

UH is too big. Employees are unaware which department deals with what issues. They give conflicting information. One told me I had reached my copay. Another told me I need to pay $500.00 more to reach the copay. Pure confusion. One said I owed one month payment. Another said I was in good standing. I owed nothing. Is this a good company to deal with? By the way I am still holding to speak to the manager. It is now half an hour on hold listening to music.

United Healthcare “customer service” is inept and they refuse to put you through to a supervisor when they clearly cannot answer your question. The main number puts you through to a generic person who barely speaks English even when you ask for dental claims and they refuse to give you the phone number. You are put on hold endlessly and you still don’t get the information you need. I called today on a dental claim appeal and was transferred several times and continuously put on hold each time the person knew nothing about dental claims. They refuse to hang up so that you can leave your negative review about the call. Do not recommend United Healthcare!

He will not call back or answer anything. Email hasn't happened. He's full of it and nonsense with business. Lied about it all. I explained I'm a telemarketer as well... Therefore, he should know I am definitely leaving this review.

It's been over a week and he has still not responded. They took more money than claimed, now I'm screwed because I used someone else's card. This business is unacceptable and unnecessary for customers. I should receive a refund considering it is not what I was promised by no means. No even the coverage I was promised. My call was on Feb 11th at 7:03 pm for 54m and 56s. They need to roll the phone call back and give me my money back until I get what I'm promised. A form of false advertisement.

"

So how do I know which service participates? In an emergency, I don't think I'd be able to spend 2 hours asking and asking and asking a... and still no answers! (I have been a UHC Med Advantage customer for many years - It has gotten bad in the last few years.) Last year, my surgeon's team and I prepared everything for a one-week stay in the hospital followed by a week in a rehab facility, as agreed upon by UHC. At the end of the week in the hospital, UHC denied my coverage for Rehab. Surgeon sent many explanations to UHC. I ended up in hospital for the second week. Up until 2025 I was perfectly happy with my UHC Medicare plan...even though it was expensive it was worth N it for the PPO plan I had. The Deductible went from $457 to $2,100 on RX Plans and they dropped medication or swapped from the tiers of Prescriptions. Example: last year my diabetes medication of Mounjaro was $47.00 a month.....this year $268.00. I've had precancerous Polyps and the doctor ordered Plenvu for prep for surgery. They won't cover it and my out cost is $186.00.

I'm not able to take diabetes meds and now the prep because this Mega Insurance Company has put these meds out of my reach financially. I can understand why UHC have so many unhappy customers. This country is giving tax breaks to big corporations like UHC and instead of them passing it along to customers they give raises to executives!! I live on Social Security and cannot afford paying UHC premiums of $6,000 a year and pay for meds. They only care about their bottom line and which executives get bonuses for robbing their customers!!

If I was anybody, which is why I feel the need to write this, is that I would seriously advise you to not go with this health care plan if you even want to call it healthcare. They're very tricky as far as when they sign you up they'll use American English speakers who are polite. After that you will never speak with an American even at a request because these ** people who keep answering the phone, and it is all of them at the call center who cannot speak English at all, well not even transfer you when you ask nor will they hang up the phone for you to leave your review of their service and nor will they allow you to make a complaint about them because they have full control over that phone.

I have spent countless hours on the phone with these people trying to work out my issues and nothing at all has gotten resolved and I've even accumulated bills simply for going to one visit at my primary care doctor. I'm not sure how that can't be resolved? That is wrong because it has destroyed my credit score that these people will not figure this out nor even try to fix it for us.

They ended up dropping me, so I was without insurance for a month. Because of that I had to miss a very important neurology appointment and have had to wait over a year to get to be seen. They have also denied several of my medications. Twice now we have been set up on auto pay and they have quit taking the payment for no apparent reason, and we have had to pay a large bill. One was over $3000 for not taking our premium payment for several years and the other $1500 for not taking all of the Medicare Prescription Payment Plan payments like we had set up. When I had checked out my items, none of the products were paid under the benefit. I had to pay almost $50 out of my pocket because the UCard barcode scanner gave inaccurate data. UnitedHealthCare has been an absolute nightmare to deal with. Claims are denied with little transparency, even when medications are clearly medically necessary. Instead of prioritizing patient health, the process feels designed to delay, discourage, and minimize payouts. When someone is in urgent need of medication, the last thing they should face is endless prior authorizations, bureaucratic hurdles, and vague explanations. It often feels like cost-cutting takes precedence over patient well-being. Customer service provides scripted responses and little real accountability. You’re left chasing answers while critical treatments hang in limbo. The lack of urgency and compassion is deeply concerning. Health insurance should provide support during vulnerable moments — not create additional barriers. This experience has felt more like fighting a system than receiving care.

I dread calling them whenever I have an issue or a need something changed. Every single time I've gotten agents that didn't know what they were doing. They were very hard to understand. They kept putting me on hold and it would take a minimum of four to five phone calls to get the issue resolved.

One example of an issue that I had with them was for some reason they changed my primary doctor to someone in Idaho. I've never been to Idaho. I live in Missouri. And I sure didn't request a change of a primary care physician. It took me about five phone calls and 2 months to finally get them to change it. They kept acting it like it was my fault. United healthcare's customer service is the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I have never once had a satisfying call with them. Called 3rd time. Was told my account still was not closed, that someone should have called me after 1st phone call within 48 hours to make sure I wanted to cancel. I never received that phone call. Told the girl such, was told that there is a form that I need to complete which would be mailed to me within the next 7-10 working days and to complete and mail back to them.

Started to register a complaint with her and was disconnected. Called a 4th time and asked to speak directly to the grievance dept. Was told that my account was still not closed, have to complete form which she did email me (still have to snail mail back to them). Asked for the address and was given a different PO box than what was on the form. When I asked her about that, she said the PO box on the form was for starting accounts even though it was a discontinuance of police form. Asked every time about a refund of my Feb bill. Was told that was not going to happen so I have paid for a month of service that I will not use all because of the ineptness of this company.

BTW, this policy overrides my policy with my current employer. And UHC is a MCR drug program and my MCR was canceled when I started work again mid Jan. Asked if I could get a copy of the grievance letter that she completed for me online and w as told I could not get a copy unless I created an account with them. I have no idea what she wrote, if my issues were captured correctly, if my account is closed, if I will continue to get billed, or if I will receive a refund. If it were possible to give negative stars, I would. Completely held hostage to their bad policies

It was okay at first they gave you a good amount of money on medication, food and utilities. Everything was okay until the evaluation came for my home health services. I was my mother's caregiver and did a wonderful job taking care of her. Anyway this care coordinator Lisa ** came and said we didn't need healthcare services and I was getting paid too much. My mother was a heart patient, she suffered from face pains and walked with a cane. That she didn't qualify for the services. So she took my mother's Medicare away which made it hard to get the treatment and also my caregiver job away. A waiver was put on us and sadly she ended up dying before she could get her Medicare and home services back. I think United Healthcare hires the wrong people to represent their company.

It’s in our insurance agent’s notes, and United recorded it in our phone interview. And now United Healthcare’s customer service agents are insisting we did not claim a pre-existing condition and are refusing to pay for routine doctor’s appointments. I will fight this to my dying breath not because I don’t have a couple hundred dollars, but because I can’t stand big companies that try to pull one over on innocent, paying families. Ridiculous.

Unfortunately, and sadly, every year since then it has either decreased the benefits (no more over-the-counter benefits at all!) it offers or raised the cost of co-pays (specialist co-pay went from $40 to $60). I would not even call it average today. It is far less than! The only benefit I receive is $10/month after I complete 5000 steps/day for ten days (I regularly rack up more than 10,000 steps/day). Needless to say, I will be switching to a better carrier next open enrollment.

I have called three times now to get this fixed. Each time, I am connected quickly, and the individual is kind. However, they simply restate that the service is out of network, and I’m required to PUSH them to check that that’s wrong. Each time, they have confirmed I’m correct and connected me with claims to get it fixed. It gets fixed. Then, when I go to check and pay, it’s reverted back to out of network.

Why are my claims being processed three times, incorrectly each time? I have called: 12/10/2025 with Carlos, 12/16/2025 with Daisy, and 1/23/2026 with Michael and Carlos again. When I ask where this issue is occurring, they say on their end. I am suspicious of why settled claims are being opened and processed AGAIN for higher payments.

Finally they transferred me to a Medicare specialist (not employed by UH) who immediately fixed the problem (their error-not ours). The man from medicare apologized and told me I needed to call them back and let them know he corrected the issue and documented it and all they had to do was clear the flag and then my mom's Diabetic sensor would be approved. So I called them back and went through till I finally got a person who told me there are no flags and if I go to the pharmacy everything is fine. I called the pharmacy and they resubmitted for it to get denied again. Frustrated doesn't even begin to cover it.

My husband has a United Health Care Medicare Advantage Plan. He has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer. He has been through surgery and chemo as a Stage 1 patient. All went well throughout the process. Now that he is Stage 4 and needing additional treatment, United Health Care has refused to pay for one of his chemo treatments recommended by the Head of Oncology at Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital. The oncologist filed an appeal on January 1 after his treatment regimen was denied for one of the medications. I called United Health Care on December 30 and was given the run around that there was no record of the medication was denied. He also stated they were closing for New Years Eve and I would have to call back. I called again on Monday, December 5th and was also told there were no records.

After arguing with them for 1 hour, they finally located the appeal. I was told the appeal was filed on January 1 and I should have a response the following week. Today is Monday, January 19 and still no decision. I was on the telephone with Joy for over 1 hour while she pretended she was getting information for me. I finally thought to ask where she was located and found out she was in the Philippines. I immediately demanded she connect me to the United States. At that time I was connected to Mitchel who assured me he would get an answer quickly.

One hour later I am still on the telephone. He finally stated that a decision had not yet been made and we would have to wait 30 to 60 days. I quoted my letter to him which states under the Appeals Rights "For Services you haven't received yet, we'll give you a written decision within 7 days after we get your appeal". He further protested it would be 30 to 60 days. He finally agreed to file an expedited appeal which would give me an answer in 72 hours. I had already been on the telephone for 2 hours and 16 minutes so I agreed for him to file the appeal and call me back. He agreed to call me within 30 minutes with the appeal number. It has already been 1 hour and no call back. Avoid this insurance company.

We pay $700 a month for UnitedHealthcare. My wife has a $2,500 deductible, which we were fully prepared to meet. What we were not prepared for was UnitedHealthcare inventing a 45% coinsurance clause that magically turns a medically necessary procedure into a financial ambush. Without insurance, the surgery costs around $11,000. With UnitedHealthcare? The “negotiated” total somehow explodes to $34,000, and after deductible and coinsurance, we’re forced to pay $6,245 out of pocket.

Let that sink in: Paying $8,400 a year in premiums. Still on the hook for thousands more. For a routine and medically necessary procedure. While insurance contributes basically nothing. This is not “coverage.” This is legalized extortion wrapped in fine print. Coinsurance after a deductible is just a loophole that allows insurers to dodge responsibility while pretending to offer protection. The fact that insurance triples the price of surgery compared to cash pay should be criminal.

UnitedHealthcare doesn’t lower costs. It inflates them, obscures them, and then shifts the burden back onto the people paying every single month. If you’re healthy, you’re wasting money. If you actually need care, you’re punished for it. Healthcare should not feel like getting scammed. Avoid if you have literally any other option.

The problem is that my eyes are bad, really bad, and I require lenses that are pretty far up the progressive tier list. My eye Doctor told me that to wear tier 1 lenses, they would be so thick that I would not be

able to see that well, would have a hard time focusing, not to mention all that extra weight pushing down on my nose. Prior to and including 2024 this was never a problem as United Healthcare paid for progressive lenses above tier 1. For 2025 and into the future, if you need a progressive lens above that bottom tier 1, look forward to paying 100% of the cost out-of-pocket.

There too many people saying the same thing. My wife has gone through brain cancer, now dementia and she just broke her shoulder & knee. This company is well versed in denial. I have had to appeal nine (9) of their refusal to pay for services. Only after me complaining and appealing did they pay. However, because of this, my doctor refused to provide further service. My wife is in Rehab where United placed her and it's 20 miles from my home. They refused to let her move to a closer facility (owned & operated by the same company) because they said they have already provided a facility and there's no need to re-address the matter again. Even after I offered to pay, they refused to reopen the referral as they are busy, it's Christmas and they don't have time.

Be very careful in your retirement of this so called insurance company. They are strictly in it for the money, they could care less about your coverage, they pay slow and will do their best to put you off and deny any. Issues you have. I strongly suggest you pursue another company. UHC is another money hungry large corporation that is Only Worried about how much money they can make. They do not cover anything that they say they will cover. I am left having to pay thousands in doctors' bills that they are supposed to cover. The "lower" reputation insurance companies cover more. Let me tell you about my situation: Late February 2025 I was started on an antiarrhythmic drug (to combat Atrial Fibrillation, AFIB). Starting this drug involved a 3-day hospital stay for careful medical monitoring, as the medication can cause a very dangerous arrhythmia (torsades) and the drug is either ineffective or not tolerated by about 50% of all patients. The drug was successful for me, taking me from 100% AFIB for over 5 months, to minimal most weeks, with occasional peaks of 5-23% afib (for the given week). This medication must be taken every 12 hours (with no more than up to an hour variation from schedule), and no more than one dose can be missed in a row. If the drug is not taken for two doses in a row, it’s back to the hospital for the 3-day startup process again. My prescription delivers 180 doses every 90 days - just enough to stay on schedule.

Recently, my pharmacy somehow did not initiate the process to re-order the drug on time, and I was down to my last allocated dose when I stopped by to see what could be done - this was on a Friday (after Thanksgiving day), and my pharmacy is closed on Saturday and Sunday, so the situation was dire. The pharmacy was helpful, giving me enough tablets to get me through the weekend, and promising that they would have the rest by Monday. When the remainder of the 3-months’ dose arrived on Monday, UHC refused to approve payment until Tuesday, when a snowstorm is due in our area. I called asking them to provide the approval for Monday, which they stated that they “could not do” (after lengthy calls with them and then involving the pharmacy as well), despite my reminding them that if I missed two consecutive doses, I would be back into the hospital for the expensive re-introduction stay.

Where is the sense when an insurer cannot take action to approve a medication, in time to ensure that I do not run out during the snowstorm? I simply do not understand the need or wisdom of this practice, which prevents me from having enough on hand to ensure that I do not miss doses. The UHC “Customer support” rep even tried to blame this on the pharmacy, which was simply not the case.

My company just (literally today) switched to a level funded plan. The plan is identical to the old plan in terms of coverage, etc. I had been participating the UHC rewards program and was waiting until the end to cash out so I could earn the maximum benefit. I logged in today to cash out and my rewards are gone on day one of the new plan. They screwed me out of $237. No, it’s not a ton of money but UHC tries to encourage people to buy a tracker (Fitbit, Apple Watch, etc) to track steps and sleep. It also encourages people to get flu shots, covid shot and all kinds of other things which help them save money on claims by covered individuals being healthier.

I chatted with a rep online who was of no help and told me that their rep who handled the renewal told the employer about this. I assured her that as the benefit manager for my company who handled the entire renewal on our side and participates in the rewards program, I would have not waited the one extra day to cash out. It’s also odd that they can cancel out the rewards program earnings, but leave everything else from “last year” in place. All of my claims and spending are based off the plan that just ended. Deductible amounts, out of pocket, everything. Funny that they can cancel a benefit but not manage to reset the spending on day one. I guess what everyone has been saying about UHC is true. Another BAD REVIEW and COMPLAINT! If one is to look at the very poor reviews this sub-par company has, they would see the extreme number of ONE STAR REVIEWS compared to the very small fraction of 5 Star. This is because they have earned this position in the industry! Simply another perfect example how an unscrupulous business like United Health can survive in spite of themselves. America is infested with these exploitive and predator type organizations. They mail ads this time of the year to promote their Medicare plans that create the illusion you are receiving a Very Important Notice from them for Annual Changes!

Truth is they deliberately make their name so very small that is printed on these notices as to hope the average person will not see who is behind their ploy to exploit unsuspecting victims! Their supposed Licensed Agents are never versed or knowledgeable in both Advantage plans and Medigap Supplemental Plans. A person cannot have an informed conversation with these Licensed Agents, and they seem to care less whether they can really be of any real help. If one calls them on their lack of knowledge because they were not trained properly, they will simply hang up on you and show you how little they truly care about you as a possible client!

All in all it begins to feel like how an existing must feel when their claim is denied. These companies are there to make money and they know that their competition is just as bad as they are so there is no incentive for them to treat you with respect. Management has failed to monitor them correctly, so there are never any consequences for their insulting behavior even when they hang up the phone on you.

They didn't report to us that the hospital liaison was mistaken about the stay being covered, until her stay had accumulated hundreds of dollars, they believed the so-called Resort facilities lies in my mom's medical chart notes about her refusing to engage in physical therapy, when in reality she was extremely ill with a bleeding ulcer, pneumonia, and extreme pain caused by the fall that broke her tailbone and the reason she was in there. She was rushed back and forth to the Hospital for emergency reasons and could not do the rigorous physical therapy needed, so they wrote notes to United Healthcare giving them reason to kick her out of the facility with full blown severe medical problems and made us use hospice to watch her die at home.

Oh but not before we were promised a 90 day stay extension if we paid my mom's deductible, which we did, and on the very next day she was forced to sign her self (with diagnosed dementia I should add) out of the one place who promised to make her well so we could bring her home all better. We never got our deductible back, nor an apology or even condolences. They only wanted my dad's savings and his willingness to do anything to bring his wife home again all better, a wife of 56 years. I lost my mother and best friend for corporate greed. They know what they did and they didn't care one bit.

Their customer service is awful. I have spoke to several agents over the phone and basically get nowhere. The latest is today 11/14/2025. UHC sent a letter which I received the end of October needing an authorization for a medicine I was just prescribed. I sent a message to my pcp the same day I received the authorization. Went to the pharmacy and still nothing.

I called uhc and told them the situation and that I called my dr before calling them and that they were closed. They insisted they call (like I was lying). Then told me they would call Monday to try to get a hold of the dr to get the authorization. I expressed the need for this medication and still refused to do anything to help. Each time I have had to call uhc, I get the same customer service experience. I called back to be able to file a complaint, got the third degree, put on hold and then the agent came back talking again about what was wrong. Then interrupted me saying he was just trying to talk to me as a person. Will definitely be finding a new advantage program. I have dealt with this type of service for 4 years. I am deeply disappointed with my experience as a UnitedHealthcare member. When I needed coverage for a prescribed medication, my appeal was denied despite providing medical documentation and following the proper process. The decision felt more like a rigid adherence to policy than a genuine concern for patient health.

The communication throughout this process was frustrating—long letters filled with technical jargon, but little compassion or practical help. Instead of supporting me in managing a serious health condition, UnitedHealthcare placed barriers that left me without the treatment my doctor recommended. Healthcare should be about people, not just paperwork. Unfortunately, UnitedHealthcare has shown me that their priority is cost containment, not patient care. I cannot recommend their services to anyone seeking reliable, supportive healthcare coverage. I strongly encourage others to explore different healthcare options. There are providers who value patients’ well-being and offer clearer, more compassionate support. UnitedHealthcare has failed to meet even the most basic expectations of care and service.

I have been on the phone several times with supervisors-most calls include a 45 minute hold time - to get my daughter's prescription covered. BOTH UHC and Pomona Valley Medical Group have FAILED to help our family. My daughter is now a month behind on her injectable medication that has helped her for over six years. UHC is blaming PVMG. PVMG is blaming the doctor's office. NO ONE IS TAKING RESPONSIBILITY! Maybe this runaround is due to the cost of her medication?

I’ve had an extremely disappointing experience with this health insurance provider. Despite paying a substantial monthly premium, I find myself responsible for the majority of medical expenses. For example, they refused to cover the full cost of an ambulance ride, citing that it was "out of network." In emergency situations, it’s simply unrealistic to expect patients—or even emergency responders—to verify network status before calling for help. Given the poor service and lack of practical support during critical moments, I’m genuinely surprised the company’s stock remains high. Experiences like mine raise serious concerns about the sustainability and ethics of their business model.

I have to put so much work in just to see if they will attempt to accept a bill but never know until the bill come. Then come to find out, for any one of a thousand reasons, they decide which reason to use to not pay. My healthcare shouldn't be determined by someone like this company.

Second contact was via chat with a lot of verbiage that didn't answer my question. Called a different number that was supposed to handle my issue, but they didn't give me an answer, but provided a fourth number to call. Worst customer service. Guess they figure if I got bounced around enough, I'd give up and go away.

Even when talking to a supervisor, I was completely annoyed and they tried to continuously have me log out for inactivity on my account because they no longer wanted to deal with me. No wonder there are thousands of awful reviews for this company. I'm so unbelievably frustrated.

I’ve only had United about a month and I’m already severely displeased with their service. I have a chronic illness, CVS, causing me to have severe nausea and vomiting for hours on end. I occasionally end up in the ER due to severe dehydration and certain proteins/etc. in my blood work being way below range from the consistent vomiting. This also causes numbness and tingling in my hands, feet/legs, and mouth/tongue. This past ER visit I was so dehydrated they were struggling to find a vein for the IV because mine were all collapsed. I am then mailed a letter (on my birthday too) saying my ER visit will not be covered because I “was stable and did not require the level of care I had received”. This is absolute BS that I will be fighting. United would rather you die of health complications than do their job and assist paying your medical bills! Would give 0 stars if I could.

It has to be done for healing progress so the doctor can see if it is healing so I owe an additional 100.00. When I brought this to their attention at UHC the guy said if I were to go else where out of network it would cost me more than that. I will not choose this insurance ever again and will tell all of my friends not to choose UHC going forward.

I have had UHC through my employer now for less than a year and completely believe the horror stories I have heard now. If you think health insurance companies care about your HEALTH that's false. They care about squeezing out as much money as possible from working people to fatten their pockets even if it is through fraudulent practices and a complete lack of accountability. My dentist requested my coverage from UHC prior to me agreeing to complete $6,415 worth of orthodontic work. UHC faxed over my coverage, with my name listed as the patient right at the top, stating I have 50% coverage for ortho, no co-pay, and no age restriction for this coverage. If I log in to my app, it states I have adult ortho coverage, if I log in to the website it states I have adult ortho coverage. I agree to the work with this info, knowing that UHC will be covering half, and after the work is completed and the claim is sent to UHC, it's denied.

Apparently, I only have ortho coverage for individuals under the age of 18 for my policy. If that is the case, the site and app are extremely misleading NOT TO MENTION the fax received from UHC that stated that I have 50% ortho coverage. I called and was told to appeal through their P.O. Box. Mind you, I spoke to 4 employees from UHC, 2 out of the 4 said I had 50% coverage and the other two said I did not. I send in my appeal paperwork, the fax we received from them, a letter explaining what happened, screenshots of my app, and the website view telling me I have adult ortho coverage. Even if my policy truly offers coverage only for individuals under the age of 18, due to the misleading fax confirmation of coverage, and the other supporting items, I asked that they honor the 50% coverage for this claim only. With the acknowledgement that all future ortho will have to be covered by me as my plan stands currently.

Appeal reviewed and DENIED due to my plan not having ortho coverage. So, if you want to know if your insurance policy covers a specific procedure, apparently, your insurance company is not the right one to ask to confirm what is on your policy because they'll tell you that you have coverage and then turn around and say, "Ha, no you don't." ZERO accountability. I totally understand how this company made $14.4 billion last year. Shady business practices and conning their customers. Appalled and disappointed.

The only reason I can think of why they are denying it because they want 1/2 month premium, even though we have proof of the call on July 1st. I’m not sure if you are hiring based on how poorly an employee can do their job, but it sure seems like you are leaning in that direction. You have said one thing and done another over and over and over and have played with my mental health while wasting the time of an incredible surgeon and his staff. There is no reasonable explanation for the lack of actual professionalism or accountability you are exhibiting. Then to top it off, I received a bill for a recent outpatient hospital surgery for almost $500. I was appalled. They did NOT cover the whole cost which made me furious given the inflated premiums I am paying. I see why they have negative coverage in the media. I will be switching to a local Advantage plan. I am aware of the drawbacks but this is the last straw. Money hungry and probably feeds those at the top while squeezing the little guy. Good riddance. I advised consumers to stay away.

Once you start the shots you have to complete all 3 or insurance won't pay anything. Every shot I had cost me $297. Plus what they refused to pay other than the shots. Worst company I have ever had for health insurance. When I called about the cost I had to talk to someone with OPTUM. I have an eye appointment I now need to pay out of pocket for because I have no "active benefits", I am covered through my work and I called to try and find out why. The UMR rep told me the UH reps said they "Do not want to take my call." Because they couldn't find me in the system. Her and I agreed that is laughable customer service. She even gave them a hard time and they told her twice they "Do not want to talk to me." And that I need to speak to my HR manager. That response and the fact they wouldn't even explain the problem is a clear indicator of what their customers mean to them. United Healthcare is a joke. I am livid.
