So far so good. I had a few questions for this new policy, and they were answered very promptly. I’ve had this insurance in the past (Tin Leg-Gold) and actually had to use it for a delayed trip home from Costa Rica. It covered delayed trip, and expenses incurred for the extra 3 days, until I could fly home, due to weather, and devastation it caused. Luckily I have not had to use it for medical issues, so I can’t speak to that. You just have to have receipts to prove all incurred expenses, which now a days a lot of it is electronic. I’m willing to pay that price to have that peace of mind.

When I bought the annual travel medical insurance the confirmation said I could take 2 trips maximum. That was a complete surprise. The profiling of insurance packages seem to be good and SM says it backs the integrity of the insurance carriers. So based on those elements I would give them a good rating. I suspect the real proof is when you actually need to use the insurance, is where the truth be told.
