Absolutely horrible... Took over a week for them to try and find a reason to not to honor my policy. I was with Progressive for years, had paid thousands of dollars throughout the years just to find out they are not covering us. 100% the othet drivers fault (I have the police report and other driver's admission). And YES, I PAID FULL COVERAGE FOR YEARS. I paid more in insurance than my auto was worth and still no coverage.....PROGRESSIVE is a racket. Do NOT use... This is a fair and honest warning... Use at your own risk.

I'm a Navy veteran 67 years old and work part time for a hospital. I have been with Progressive Insurance for 8 years, no claims, no late payments. My hybrid battery was exposed to much rain and water damage due to heavy local storms. Unbeknown to me, before buy it had two minor rear end damage. The body shop in the Quad Cities IL and Iowa failed to fix the right quarter panel and attach it correctly, and left a area that as the back tire goes around it throws water into the trunk and then into the Hybrid battery compartment. Where over time it fried the Hybrid battery. I've been in the trunk maybe 3 times in two years, and water never infiltrated the cabin of the car.

I filed on March 6, 2026 and got the answer at 5pm on March 27. Kristal my only help through all of this had a tough job telling me yesterday. The reason, she knows that because of this Claim rejection I am probably losing my part time job at the hospital I've worked at for 3 years because I can't get there in Rural IL and Iowa. No Uber like in Metro Areas, maybe a cow. As the snowball effect rolls on probably lose my apt after 8 years!! She said, "I can get you 50.00 dollars off a rental at the very small Enterprise business at the very small Burlington municipal airport". This was not my fault other than Trusting Anyone that has to do with Insurance except for Krystal at Progressive, she was put in a horrible position and Progressive doesn't care about Veterans, The Elderly or a real live human being except Krystal!!

During all this I had to Tow the car twice. The first time it took 45 minutes to get a hold of a agent because of my rural area, the automatic crap they send you is Worthless, both people that helped me at Progressive sounded like they were eating and talking to their dog, second one sounds like she knew nothing about customer service and just got out of bed. I always thought highly of Progressive Insurance and was kinda proud to say I'd been with them for 8 years no claims. I understand that you can't approve all of them, but make sure you're a robot because they treat real human beings as a blight. Everyone but Krystal, she understands that I will be homeless again and without a job. Sure I'm angry but it was the worst experience I've ever had!! At this point I don't think PROGRESSIVE would even help FLO!! Do better because y'all lost me.

Better coverage for a fraction of what progressive wants. Now they want to charge me $145 to cancel the policy for a letter that was sent thru USPS IN THE TIME FRAME THEY WANTED that apparently USPS lost.

They charge about $1500 a year for insurance for someone who hasn’t had an accident in 10 years. My $1500 a year policy somehow doesn’t include rental reimbursement. The deductible for glass is $1,000 which is a scam as a whole front windshield replacement is less than $900 for my car. I could pay $1000 a year and get better coverage that will actually pay to fix my car.

I've been with Progressive for many years. I accidentally moved the wrong month payment. They wouldn't fix it for me and now I'm in a bind. All they said is payment needs to be made or my insurance will be canceled. So not only did they not help me, they're threatening to cancel my insurance because of a mistake. Way to go progressive! Such a good company.

I have been a customer of Progressive for a number of years now (5 Plus). We have two automobiles, an RV, and Renters insurance through them. We have never had a claim up until recently when vandals broke out the back window of my pick up truck. I live in Seattle area where it has been monsoon raining for weeks and I have a huge whole in my window I am trying to get replaced. It has been almost a week since the claim and I can't even get as much as a return call or email from the glass claims adjuster to verify if they will cover or not.

I pay thousands of dollars every year to them, the least they could do is answer and return a call or email. The one agent I did speak with told me it normally takes twenty four to forty eight hours to review to come up with an answer. Their time must be different than others' twenty four to forty eight hours? It has been a week. I can pay for the window myself, that is not the problem, but knowing my deductible is $500 and the window will cost $1200 to replace, in Western Washington where fuel and grocery pricing is sky high, that $700 will go a long ways right now and I can't even get a response? But make sure you get your premium payment in on time with no grace period, otherwise they cancel you on the spot. To be honest, it has been a joke and I am willing to pay another insurance company more money for better customer service and to actually get a response from a vendor I pay good money to, to be treated with silence.

Progressive is an extremely irresponsible insurance company. I've been in three accidents in last 6 years, all of which were the other party's fault. The first time, after Progressive took my case, they did almost nothing to help me. I had to handle all communication with the other party's insurance company myself. In the end, the other party covered my repair costs and rental car expenses. The second time, Progressive assured me they would actively help. I gave them all my repair and rental car receipts, but they only managed to recover the repair costs--they didn't even try to get the rental car fees covered. Their excuse? I didn't have rental car coverage. Seriously? It was the other party's fault, so the costs should have been covered by the other party's insurance.

The third time, which happened recently, was even worse. Again, the other party was at fault, but this time Progressive told me I had to pay the deductible myself, claiming the other party's insurance refused to accept liability. How absurd is that? I had zero fault in the accident, yet I was expected to pay part of the repair costs. I agree with the other victims. If there were a zero score option, I'd definitely choose it. So, if you don't want to deal with any trouble in future accidents, please stay away from Progressive. They are neither professional nor responsible. Finally, I hope that no matter which insurance company you choose, you always stay safe on the road.

I was a Progressive auto insurance customer in NYS for eight years. I couldn't bundle my auto and home because my home was a farm with acreage so had to insure my land with a local agency. After eight years, I had an accident in the on street parking in front of my daughter's house in Pennsylvania. In order to avoid paying accident forgiveness, Progressive changed my home address to my daughter's townhouse in PA that she purchased during COVID so that I would have a place to stay with my pets when I visited.

As I was a NY resident with NY drivers license, I had to have my daughter insure the vehicle until I moved to PA a year later, and obtained a PA drivers license in September of that year. This negligence has caused me innumerable issues with credit reporting, NY tax, etc. Progressive customer service gave multiple excuses for doing this, ending with its "internal policy" to change a customer's state of residence without documentation when mail is returned by the post office.

This was expressed when applying for the insurance so they canceled us. I tried to reapply and can't get no answers. Literally left hanging in the wind. I would say this has been the worst experience ever for insurance. Nothing was held back in the beginning so the mistake is completely on Progressive.

Although I was told by more than one mechanic that the car should be totaled Progressive did not want to do that. Since my car was a 2021 they wanted to save money. They found a used engine and replaced my engine with that then found I need a new compressor then found I need a new motor starter….I just got the car back this week March 2025. The car dropped dead after being returned to me in February. I have been in 3 different loaner cars. Every time I get in the car I fear it will stall out. I have been a loyal Progressive customer and recently called to request a short hardship extension due to temporary financial difficulty while I am on unemployment and actively seeking work. I reached out two days before my due date in an effort to be proactive and keep my policy in good standing. Unfortunately, I was told that an extension could not be granted because of a $10 late fee that I was not aware of. While the representative was polite, the policy itself left no flexibility for a loyal customer trying to handle a temporary hardship responsibly.

As a longtime educator, I believe companies should show understanding when customers communicate early and make a good faith effort to stay current. Situations like this can happen to anyone, especially during difficult financial periods. Because I believe companies should be accountable to their customers, I have also shared my experience on X (Twitter) and Instagram so others can understand how Progressive handles hardship requests from loyal customers, including teachers. I hope Progressive will reconsider how situations like this are handled and create more flexibility for customers who are trying to do the right thing.

Please read and understand money isn’t everything, especially when you go through the stressful experience that Progress insurance claims department takes you through. Every time I would answer one situation, they would come back with another and another reason to deny your claim. It was as though the claims adjusters are taught to figure out as many reasons in their mind as to why they can honor your claim. This insurance company might be cheap, but cheap is not always the best reason to change an auto insurance company, especially not Progressive. In my opinion, this company is the worst company to insure your Automobile with.

I was even told after I said I would not give up on this issue because it’s the principle now, the supervisor, Adam said to me, "You can get a lawyer, we don’t care." Mind you, not one time did I ever mention a lawyer, but that statement said to me, this isn’t anything new to them. Please note, in my opinion, I would never recommend this company to anyone, regardless as to how Cheap they are. I feel this is the worst insurance company I have dealt with in my 72 years on this earth. Hear me, I feel you should stay away from this company at all costs.

I’ve been a Progressive customer for over 5 years, but my recent claim experience has been extremely frustrating and financially stressful for my family. I was in a car accident on 01/17. I was told a check to pay off my Nissan Rogue loan with Mountain America Credit Union was sent on 02/02. When my loan was still showing open, I reached out on 02/16 at 5:30 p.m. for an update. After still seeing no resolution, I had to contact them again on 02/23 at 5:20 p.m., where I was told a second check had to be issued because the first one never made it to the bank.

In the meantime, my rental coverage ended around 02/02 and I was forced to return the vehicle. I had to pay out of pocket to extend the rental for two more days, but continuing to pay $40/day wasn’t realistic. I had no choice but to purchase another vehicle so I could continue working and taking care of my family. Now I’m stuck with two car payments because the Nissan loan still hasn’t been paid, the loan has gone delinquent, and I’ve been charged a late fee. As of 03/05 this still isn’t resolved. This delay has created unnecessary financial stress and has begun affecting my credit. I’m sharing this experience publicly because I hope Progressive will step in, resolve the issue, and ensure other customers don’t have to go through the same situation.

I have been with Progressive for a lot of years with two cars, my motorcycle and our RV. Full coverage insurance! When the time came to honor my claim on my SUV after Firestone had sabotaged it, they sent a lady who was not interested in actually lifting the car up to look at the damage underneath and just claimed it was regular wear and tear. A knock-off company from Atlanta. The RV was cancelled on 6/30/25. Progressive felt entitled to continue to draw the money for the insurance of the RV for two more months. I had provided proof that it was no longer registered and in storage. Once they finally stopped they sent a bill my way for another $90 for anyone's guest talking to several progressive employees. Everyone had a different explanation or lack thereof.

Then I was told that I had received "Points" for insuring a new SUV that I had bought. If that is true? Who knows! I never received anything in writing. That caused me to cancel all my insurances with Progressive. I of course told them that instead they owe me money for the two extra months they took out money. The issue is still unresolved... Progressive does not deserve a single star! If you really want to be insured and have your damages covered, don't use Progressive. As I found out, now that I have a complaint against them, they are not even BBB accredited. I should have checked on that before insuring anything with them, instead I assumed that a big company like that would be on a proper level.

I have always tried to make my payments on time even though my work hours have been cut down. My daughter who was not under the policy had an accident with one of the cars. She slid and went into snowbank. There was damage done to the car. I put in a claim in. I understand that my daughter is not covered but I was told my car cannot be repaired. I paid full coverage since August 2025, and my repairs cannot be done because apparently the car is not owned by me. If I cannot get my car repaired which I paid Full coverage I want my money back.

Plus, I had to rent a car for two weeks which I had to pay for. Now they denied my claim and my car is not getting repaired. I have a car in my driveway that is not drivable and cannot be fixed even though I have been paying full coverage. Still getting a bill that I have to pay my next payment. How is that fair, I your customer pay all this money and not being able to use the service? Then you tell me my claim is denied, want my payment for full coverage, told I can't get my money back and now you send me a letter you are cancelling my insurance. They said they would call, think that took 5 days. I finally made the next step only for the auto body shop refuse me because I was choosing the check vs getting it fixed... since then crickets from the agent whom is either incompetent, terribly over loaded with accounts or on vacation. The questions AI asked were not necessarily pertinent to my situation, never could figure out how to fill in the blanks and have since decided that Progressive does not care.

Then somewhere in between this I was repeatedly asked if I had the Police report, which I said no (in FL they have 10 days to file) and then they wanted to know how to obtain the Police report. I gave them the claim number 6-7 times, why isn't that enough! Are they telling me that they don't know how to get the Police report? Called to get insurance quote and decided to go with a 6 month policy.. Gave the agent my debit card to pay for the down payment and also gave my routing and account number for auto pay following the initial debit of the down payment. When the down payment didn't come off the card I called to ensure it was paid (the down payment) in which they debited the card for the down payment (right away) but then tried to take the down payment out of the checking account after I called to pay it with my debit card. So no the money is not going to be in the checking account if I have to call to have you take the initial down payment.

So what should have happened was.. You take the initial down payment right away off the debit card and then the following months payment should be available for autopay... and why was this not explained in the first place? Why is only NY that has a extremely strict policies regarding the payment as long as it's paid on time? And why didn't the agent who did take the down payment off my debit card not stop me from making the payment if it was indeed supposed to be only autopay?
