1) Progressive decided to double my insurance for no reason because the "introductory price expired." 2) When looking for new insurance they can't see that I was insured during a period of time I was insured with Progressive. 3) Because I moved to a new state Progressive closed my policy and opened a new one. The closed policy has NO proof of insurance available because it is a closed policy. 4) I am unable to get access to proof of insurance & customer service cannot get access to proof of insurance. NO ONE CAN GIVE ME PROOF OF INSURANCE. 5) I was told someone had to manually write a letter to give me that proves I was insured BUT I would receive it in 1-3 days. 6) I did not receive it and when I called customer service again I was told there is NO WAY I was ever going to get it in 1-3 days because the people who would have to write the letter have to write THOUSANDS a day and it would take 4-7 business days.
7) BUT & here's the great part there's NO WAY to know if a request was put in or if and when I will get it. 8) Contacted the Executive support team and they will look at my request in 2 business days. 9) Contacted Twitter and they told me to DM them Twitter DM wouldn't let me and I asked them to DM me and hour later they DID NOTHING so I responding that this is the level of customer service I expect and they blocked me - never one single second of an attempt to help.
10) So I have the first customer service who lied to me, the second who told me there is no way to know if and when any one will help me or if there is even a request submitted, Executive Customer service who can't be bothered to even read the email for another 2 business days and Twitter customer service who refuse to do anything. 11) Is there any single worse customer service in the WORLD? All because they incompetently are reflecting I wasn't insured by them when I was and cannot be bothered to give me the proof so I can insure with a competent insurance company.
I recently called to add a vehicle to my policy that I had been given when my dad died. I spoke with a lady named Henrietta who was incredibly helpful and friendly. It was honestly one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had. She was unrushed and walked me through everything. I wish more companies valued quality experiences over pushing through volume of calls. It's a good way to generate customer loyalty.
Progressive is a dishonest bunch of thieves who stole over $4000 from an 18 year old boy during Christmas. They refused to even try and rectify the situation. No call back nothing. They are a joke and progressive and their employees should be prosecuted because they are thieves and have no morals whatsoever.
Avoid this company at all cost! I had a 2003 Gm pickup. I upgraded to an identical 2009! model. They even look the same. Same engine, same 2 wheel drive. I carry no insurance except liability yet they raised my rate $228 per 6? months!!! Nobody can give me a legit answer, customer service is like speaking to scripted dummies and impossible to speak to a REAL supervisor! They should spend less on trying to brainwash us with nonsense commercials with stupid topics And more and giving discounts to customers. It’s criminal what insurance companies get away with because by lobbying state legislators to let them have their way in New York, the consumer pays for it. I wish someone would, for once, look out for the working man! I sign this one “MAD IN NEW YORK CITY”.
On the evening of 02/22/23 at approximately 10:00 P.M. our truck was stuck in the snow; I started a roadside assistance ticket with Progressive. I was immediately told and texted it would be 3 hour wait. I was upset but waited, after a couple of hours I called because I hadn't received an update and I was told the tow truck companies are closed. This was the first of many excuses I was given. Long story short I ended up sleeping in the truck calling every few hours with no success. Why are we required to carry insurance and pay for services if they do not have to provide these services and still collect the fees. Progressive should advertise that they do not always provide the services they bill their customers for. It is now 02/23/23 and the vehicle has not been retrieved.

I signed up for Progressive insurance on both of my cars. It was $475.00 for 6 months when it renewed for the next 6 months it was nearly doubled.$889.00. I can't wait for this to end so I can cancel them out,.
I normally don't leave reviews this bad, and up until the last few years had found Progressive to be a great option for car insurance. However, my husband and I needed to get an insurance policy on a new vehicle a little over two years ago. We researched our car insurance options thoroughly and settled on Progressive because we'd heard good things, and because I'd had good experiences with them before. But, the policy cost we were quoted seemed very high. We re-ran our quote multiple times to be sure, with no luck. We finally accepted that insurance must just be more expensive in the city where we live. Fast forward two years, and I finally decided to start looking around for other insurance options.
I'm in the same boat as so many others: more working from home = less driving, so I started scoping out Metromile and other pay-per-mile alternatives. After more research I decided maybe I should stick with Progressive, but I still couldn't figure out why it was so expensive! So I went in and got another quote--entering exactly the same information (same drivers, address, coverages, etc.) as my current policy. And....my quote came up to HALF of what we were paying! My new quote was just over $400 for a 3-month term, and we were paying over $800 for the exact same coverage. I was shocked. I called Progressive and they couldn't explain, but confirmed that the best approach was to buy the "new" policy and cancel the "old" one, which I just finished doing, so I am now paying the correct rate.
However, this does not chance the fact that for the past two years I have been overpaying to the point that I have now lost well over $1,000 due to this mistake. I of course tried to speak with Progressive multiple times to determine how to get this lost money back. Unfortunately none of the people I have spoken to seem to be able to explain why this happened. What's even worse is they haven't even tried or seemed interested in trying at all. I just got off the phone with another person (phone call number 3), and they literally just didn't say anything after I explained the loss. When I asked if they were still there they said yes, and when I re-summarized the issue they still didn't really provide any response. I am really devastated about this.
Now is not the time of my life when my husband and I can afford to be losing over a thousand dollars to an insurance company (not that there's ever a good time, but things are tough now). Any and all savings I ever earned from trusting Progressive for my insurance have been more than lost in this one mistake they've made. I used to recommend them based both on their performance and professionality but based on these experiences I no longer can. It's probably best to do business with a better alternative like GEICO; or maybe one of the pay-per-mile companies really would be worth it.
We were at wk and locked the keys in the truck, called Progressive and got automated service, every time we said locked out of car it said "towing"? Very frustrated, then finally got to a rep on phone, which we explained our situation to, she asked us 4 times if we had our keys? 4 times, not to mention the VIN # 2×. We have full coverage on the vehicle and she said it would be over a hundred dollars! As simple as a service and like we don't already pay a ton and they wanted to charge an unreasonable price. We hung up and called a local person that charged $63.00. You guys failed at customer service and now we will be looking for other ins. I'm very disappointed!
I was in an accident with a Semi Truck 10/30/2022 and it is now 03/01/2023. The semi-truck unfortunately is insured by Progressive. To this day I have received ONE call back from them regarding the accident. I provided pictures as well as the police report in which the driver was cited for multiple traffic violations one being driving the wrong way down a one-way exit ramp. I have had a totaled car sitting in my driveway for 3 months now and the only person I actually get on the phone can't even get the supposed supervisor to call me back. This company is an absolute abomination. Originally they said the driver wasn't insured through them and just closed the claim. After letting the trucking company know I was going to take legal action all of the sudden the driver is magically insured by them. To this date, I have called over 50xs and received ONE call back.
Progressive’s Snapshot program is supposed to give you a custom quote. Do not waste your time installing this thing in your vehicles. It will constantly ping your location and drain your battery. I had to install a new vehicle battery because Snapshot kept draining my battery. I contacted customer service multiple times, put on hold, then was disconnected when put on hold. Customer service is terrible. You might want to I sure with a company that has good customer service and is accountable.
Progressive has broken into my personal electronics and without permission made changes to it. The storage and use options were adjusted by they to their advantage. Filled a complaint with them, was told that corporate legal had oversight so I contacted my State Attorney General.
Warning!!! Progressive will raise your rate if your vehicle has a recall. According to the "National Highway Traffic Safety Administration" this should not be the case. Sounds a little shady. We went from $308 to $384 every six months.
I bought a policy from 12/22/2021 to 6/22/2022. I gave my car to my son who drove it to Boston and bought his own insurance on 2/3/2022. They don’t give a refund from 2/3/2022 because I’m not in the new policy. I live in Florida, I don’t drive the car, how should I be listed in his policy?
I received an auto renewal notice recently and the policy price increased over 15% (over $100 for a 6 month policy). This was not due to any fault of my own (i.e. car accidents, claims, tickets, etc). The explanation provided was solely due to cost of living/inflation. I requested an itemized/detail explanation of the price increases, but they refused. They won't provide financial data to back up their claims, and truly expect that their customers will accept their "copy&paste" explanations. Inflation is clearly a scapegoat/defense tactic because the only explanation for a 15% increase is price gouging. I think this company uses predatory, unethical, and unreasonable tactics to make more money at the expense of their customers. I've been a long time customer and have never seen such a dramatic price increase.
I was moving out of state, and purchased an auto policy that was to go into effect 11/18. I also purchased a condominium policy. The condominium policy took effect as stated. However, the auto insurance never began, and my company that I had been with for 20 years does not cover my new state. The representative that sold me the car insurance (Ryan) gave me his number to call as did the person that sold me my condo insurance (Anena). I called both of these people left a message and neither one of them called me back.
I called and asked to speak to a supervisor. They gave me a difficult time about doing this. I finally got to talk to someone who was a supervisor (Patrice) who basically implied I was lying by saying she listened to the conversation, and I never purchased auto insurance, only condo. I told her she listened to the wrong conversation because I didn't get my auto from the conversation she listened to with the condominium person. She said she had to put me on hold again after I'd already been on the phone 55 minutes and we got 'disconnected'.
Since she didn't call back (Rude!), I called them back. I found out that the aforementioned person who claimed to be a supervisor (Patrice) was not a supervisor. I had to go through the whole process above, again, to get a supervisor (Theresa). Once I did, the story did not end well. I was told that their prices change daily, and I could not have the original quote that I was given for auto insurance. It would be $30 more a month.
In addition, Theresa was also trying to tell me, I didn't buy an auto policy. Hmmm, I wonder why my condo policy shows a bundle discount for auto? I did buy it. I was given my monthly cost, told the date the policy would start. It didn't matter, If I wanted the auto policy I would have to pay $30 more a month. Wonder why Theresa didn't listen to the phone call I had with Ryan where he stated the policy would start 11/18. I told them no thanks! I'd rather pay three times as much than deal with an unreliable company that doesn't call people back, implies they are lying, and doesn't honor a price they quoted. They don't care that they have horrible service, only making more money. I will get my auto elsewhere. Because I paid a large portion of my condo insurance upfront, I will be finding it elsewhere as soon as the current policy expires.
I am trying to get a policy, haven't had any accidents and I'm 37. They refuse money and instead want to take weeks to ask you to verify info??? Info they already have!! Some of us are domestic violence survivors and life is already hard enough but now Progressive wants to make sure I feel even more powerless and can't even get My kids to school!!! Because they want to play games!!?? They couldn't even tell me why. It's random!!?? Change your **, progressive. I'm sick of feeling helpless and here you go triggering desperate people for NO reason. I gave 2 stars only because the customer service rep was nice. Otherwise I'd have left the mandatory one star
Absolutely the worst experience ever. On 11/15/22 I requested roadside assistance for my car. I've waited over 12 hours for roadside assistance and have been hung up on by your agents multiple times when I have called for an update. (I have their ID numbers too.) Progressive will not be retaining my business as I am going to explore my cancelation options. I'm also going to express my disappointment to Social Media and the Attorney General here in New Jersey.
They added a driver that didn't live in the home for about one year. I called to discuss and wasted about one hour of my time, ended changing insurance companies. I will would not recommend this company to anyone.
I cancelled my insurance a month after purchase because I was getting less coverage for literally twice the amount I had paid prior with no new issues on my driving record. I was then charged almost a full month of insurance for the following month because buried 32 pages deep in their fine print... it says so- If this were integrable - they wouldn't have taken such measures to hide it from the consumer...
The absolute worst insurance company I have ever had. They will take your money and not even care for you. Filed a claim on auto theft and they refused to pay it. The adjuster was not helpful. I tried going to the supervisor but my questions never got answered. I even got ignored on one of the emails I sent. So unprofessional. I wanted the adjuster to be removed from the claim and it's like nobody cares. I got bounced around from person to person without any solutions. They are doing everything not to pay the claim. They even added drivers on my policy without my authorization and charged me $725. I immediately canceled. Will never use them ever again. I suggest you stay away too.
Purchased insurance for my commercial van in late 2021 thru begin of 2022. Beginning, Jimmy (agent of 101 Insurance Co. in Garden Grove, CA) quoted one price for Progressive, I paid amount, then a month later Progressive insurance company charged more money, 2nd month, than amount quoted as beginning in my automatic drawing from my bank account. I called and updated all my paper docs per required by Progressive but still the same. I sent email to Jimmy and stated clearly to cancel the insurance on Mar 2022, now I received debt collection letter for $123.56 for cancellation on 29 May 2022. Agency said they will take care the issue but then said they could not do anything about it. I called Progressive and they said I have to deal with agency. So I had to pay, otherwise they will send debt record to my credit yearly record. This is the scam insurance from beginning to the end. Either the Both agency and Progressive. Stay away those 2 companies.
I've never had an accident and usually switch back and forth between Geico and Progressive based on who will give me a better rate. Just switched back to Progressive last month. Had my first accident last week. Not my fault. My entire passenger side is scraped up and dented. Can't work due to the whiplash. Filed my claim online and expected someone from Progressive to get in touch in a timely manner. Nope. Even their website says the claim rep will get in touch by the next business day to "gather more information and walk you through your next steps". That did not happen.
My claims representative, Danielle **, who is based two states away, never contacted me to get my statement. Never asked how I was doing. Never asked about my injuries. Never sent someone out to look at my car for an estimate on damages. How do they process a claim without the basic information? The other driver had their statement taken by their insurance company (American Family) within an hour after the accident. Their claims rep contacted me two days later for a statement. Progressive never did. Danielle never responded to my email asking what further documentation was needed to get the claim processed.
I can't imagine what would have happened if I was hospitalized or if my vehicle was heavily damaged and could not be driven. So I sent an email to Danielle saying to cancel my claim since she had no intention of helping me. She responded to that immediately! She told me the letter to cancel the claim was in the mail and that was the only contact she ever had with me. Unbelievable. At least since she was so inattentive that I wasn't forced to pay the deductible.
I contacted a lawyer to help me resolve the issue. No one should pay hundreds of dollars for insurance only to have to resort to a lawyer just to get compensated for their loss. Especially when the other driver was at fault. You'd think Progressive would have settled the issue fairly quickly. I then called Progressive to cancel my policy since they have been so useless. The customer service rep made no effort to be friendly, but quickly completed the request. However, upon her explaining the $50 cancellation fee, a recording played in the background that said: "Back to the nursing home you go." I am just floored by the incompetence and unprofessional behavior.
I applied for auto insurance with Progressive while living at college. I gave my apartment address and was issued a policy. Later Progressive cancelled my insurance because they claimed they could not verify my address. This was despite me providing proof at their request. In the end, they decided that my proof was insufficient and cancelled my insurance without notice. I only learned about the cancellation after receiving a notice from the Department of Motor Vehicles.
After speaking with several people at Progressive and requesting to speak with management, I was connected to a person who did not seem to understand basic insurance/contract law. This "manager" declined my request to speak with Customer/Client Relations and insisted that I owed $123 for insurance provided up to the date of cancellation. I was told, however, that if I could show proof of insurance for the period prior to cancellation that Progressive would forgive the amount. I provided proof of insurance as requested.
I did not hear anything, until a collection notice was sent to my old address. I contacted the collection agency and was again told that if I provided proof of insurance my account would be "cleared". I sent proof as requested (nearly 6 months ago). I have not heard anything since. I recently pulled my credit reports and found that Progressive listed an amount owed and my account in collections. In addition to sharing my experience with friends and family, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I am happily insured with GEICO with better coverage and a lower premium.
I purchased auto insurance from Progressive. They seemed very credible and I wanted better coverage from what I had previously. I put extra coverage on my windshield because they can get cracked even if I drive perfectly. I put in a claim this week informing them I needed my glass replaced due to some rocks hitting my windshield from a moving truck. They put the claim in just fine and then informed me there is a deductible. I informed them I should have extra coverage and they informed me that windshield is under comprehensive coverage thus I must pay the comprehensive deductible. I said no, why would I pay extra on my bill every month to have this covered and then pay $500 deductible on top of that when I need it to get fixed.
They basically have me paying for it twice and they are trying to scam us. They use marketing ploys to get you to think you are covering yourself and then making you pay for it again later. Stop scamming people and making us think we are covering our vehicles more and just replace the windshield or give me my money back from your scam.
I submitted a claim against Progressive when one of their clients rear-end my vehicle. It has been 15 days and the representative from Progressive is not assisting me. My car is unsafe to drive, and I have no other way to get my children to school or myself to work. The agent will not authorize a rental. His name is Joseph. My car stalled in an intersection almost causing another wreck. When I told him this, he said, "You should pay for a rental." I did not cause my current situation and they have done nothing to assist. He told me it would be another month before they could look at my vehicle. Good thing I recorded the conversations with him and his supervisor. If something happens to me or my children look out.
Beautiful experience in the beginning. Everyone nice and communicating. Two months later my car is still at a Progressive collision shop. Collision shop saying, "You need to pick up your car." A rep named Karma is saying she’s going to reject your claim. However Progressive says they still haven’t denied it or approved it. And two days calling trying to get in contact with this Karma lady. So unprofessional. So much time wasted. I could’ve just repaired the car myself instead of chasing them for answers for two months.
Do not buy insurance from here. Customer service very terrible and they have very high quotes and they like to do things their way. I have authorization problem where my policy was altered by an internal employee without my notice and the company had no idea how such thing happened. I hope they start conducting regular internal audits.
My catalytic converters were recently stolen (very common in my area) and Progressive decided my working car was a total loss and would only give me $2300 for it, less than the $3000 cat replacement. This is to keep my car, which I would now have to claim as salvage title and pay for associated DMV fees. I am also responsible for the 1000$ storage fee at the repair place unless I pay the 3k to fix my car there. Because they took so long to respond the storage fee was very high.
Alternatively, Progressive would buy my car back for $2800, still far below actual buying value in the Bay Area. My car 1998 Subaru is old, but cars are very expensive in the area and with working cats I could easily sell it for 4k or more. It’s a perfectly good working car that I had had for years and now have to pay out of pocket 1,000$ to fix and it will have a salvage title. My agent was unresponsive, she never answered the phone, rarely called me back, and didn’t explain any of this to me.
I had no idea that the car being reported a total loss was an option, or that to keep my own car, I would have to pay storage fees at a car shop. I would have been more careful in choosing a place. She was also extremely unhelpful in finding a shop that would see me and fix my car in less than 3 months' wait time. Take your money elsewhere! Progressive spends their money on advertising and not on actual customers. I was their customer for 6 years and this is how I was treated. I will be canceling as soon as they pay out, to not fix my car and force me to claim it as salvage.
This is my third time insuring with Progressive. They are known for having better coverage than other companies, however when it comes time to claim I found that your policy rarely matches your expectation on coverage, leaving you having to pay for your own car after paying expensive premiums every month. This time around is my last time insuring with Progressive, as during hurricane Ian I was given the absolute worst insurance service of my life. I was told that first I was covered, but needed to wait two day for my rep... okay. I am desperate so I waited. Guy calls me once, I call right back. No response. Can't get ahold of the guy for another 4 days. By that time, he informs me that the first rep was completely mistaken and that I have no coverage for my claim, 'goodbye'. It was really disheartening, I will never give Progressive my business again and am canceling now.
I would avoid this company, I had very bad negative experience with their advisors, they do not know their job, every time you call them they say different information and are not honest with you. In overall, a lot of advisors very unprofessional and often can't even read the information about your policy on their screen. It took me over 10 phone calls to resolve very very very damn easy car registration issue. After all the mess I experienced with them I would not trust them in case of claims and proper customer service. Massachusetts.
