They’ve been nothing but a nightmare. I can specifically name the “analyst” and manager that have been over our family’s claim since my 35 year old husband died 3 months ago. Each time I call “Janice”, the analyst is away from her desk, no matter what time I call. Maybe if “Janice” wasn’t always away from her desk, it wouldn’t take so long to process; however, Nov 21 I spoke with someone that said they received what they needed (I sent it 10 days prior) and it would take 7-10 business days. I called business day #11 and they “just received something else they needed, but it had been approved”.
I asked what exactly was approved because we had 2 policies. That rep told me should couldn’t tell me because it still had to be approved by Janice’s manager.. but then, it would still take several days to verify my account with my financial institution. Absolute ** and nothing but prolonging the process. My financial institution has a department open 24/7 to verify. My information requested was sent Nov 7; however; now received until the 21st. Even with the analysts approval, they still refused to tell me what was approved. I asked what the big secret was and they tried to give me another excuse. Being a 34 year old widow is definitely new l, unexpected, and difficult to navigate; however, my husband died over 3 months ago, I still pushed through and just obtained my masters, and I’m raising our two young children, so, I’m not ignorant.
Do not choose this place. And if your work offers it to you (his was through ConocoPhillips) opt for a private one because they’re both jokes and do not come through “quickly and easily” like all the fake previous, paid for, reviews say.

So I filed a claim for hospital indemnity insurance 2 months ago. After I send the claim it took them 2 weeks to respond asking for further documents. So I gave them the doc they need, NO acknowledgement from them. I had to call every week for update. They keep saying it’s on process. After a month Of calling I was told they did not get it. So I had to send it again. Waiting and waiting for their response. No response so I call them again. They said they will call me ‘cause it’s the weekend the next day. Another week came. No call from them. No email. None at all.
I had to call them again. Now they are asking another requirement which they did not mentioned the VERY first time I called them. They try to keep their customers hanging to where they do not want the claim anymore!!!! This company did not help me with my hospital expenses which they are suppose to because I as a customer did not miss any payment for them. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

There is a lot of hassle. There are better companies that have better or same benefits for less. The claims process is very troublesome. Customer service is hard to get ahold of and the wait on the phone is fifteen minutes at the minimum. They are yet to be desired.

The claims analysts at The Hartford have a collective goal of denying claims. They use "peer" reviews from doctors all over the country to discredit your own doctor's choice of treatments. Of course the peer doctor will find they should close your file and deny any more benefits. Most probably give up, but fight, fight, fight - I won my appeal for my LTD pay, but like someone else mentioned they cancelled my life insurance. Don't give up, but beware they will try to scare you with calls from corporate security - it's all a big joke.

I went out on a disability through my employer years ago due to devastating ailments that run in my family. Every year, I have to submit paperwork that proves that I am still disabled. I submitted my paperwork but my doctors office made a mistake on their part of the paperwork. My doctor indicated that I could work which was a mistake. Once I brought it to my doctors attention, she changed the paperwork immediately saying I could not work. Well, this company came after me full force based on the mistake and even after my doctor made the correction that I could not work. At the time, my doctor had trainees working in the office and you know the rest!
This company cancelled my Life Insurance once they received the paperwork that was in error. I did appeal the decision and they still would not reinstate my Life Insurance that I have had for many many years. They informed me that their decision was based strictly on what my doctor stated in her portion of the paperwork. When my doctor corrected the paperwork, they still denied my claim based on lies and deceit.
This company cannot be trusted! I would advise not getting any type of insurance with them. They make up things that are not true, they assume things about your condition that they know nothing about. How can you only go on doctor notes to determine if a patient is truly disabled? Well, that’s what they did in my case. Their doctors assumed a lot but never met or examined me in person. I can prove without a doubt that I am Totally and Permanently Disabled. This company does not care about anyone. They are only concerned about their bottom line by not having to pay out insurance claims. Which is so sad because folks have worked years for these benefits!

This company is devious and will cheat you out of your claim!!! I purchased a disability policy through my employer and the Hartford has fought my several doctors findings. I have been disabled for 14 years and because a copy company had not sent in my files for recent visits, I received a letter saying they were terminating my policy. They have the right to know every personal thing about me but I don’t have the right to any peace. I have to pay and pay doctors to send and fill out forms. Is there no end? I’ve had 13 surgeries in the last 14 years but they want me to justify it each year. What do I have to have wrong with me to prevent this constant harassment? At this point I don’t think they’ll ever leave me alone. I hate the way they do business.

My mother worked for Burberry for 15 years. She went on LTD due to Ovarian cancer. Despite her continuous employment Hartford denied the life insurance claim after she passed. My research shows they are the worst. Ironically she had another policy with a no name company who paid out, no questions asked. Hartford has no problem collecting premiums but it ends there. I only gave them one star because I had to.

No one should trust The Hartford. The Hartford claims to provide insurance but my personal experience was the opposite of insurance: 5 years of delay and harassment by The Hartford's attorneys instead of insurance payments. I am not a litigious person but after five years, I had to get an attorney just to close my claim so I could take care of myself independently (not allowed to do that with an open claim). This is a vicious, sadistic company full of psychopaths who delight in harming people desperate for insurance they have been promised in a crisis. My extended family has decided to never purchase any Hartford insurance products because there is no insurance. It's a fraudulent claim. One star is generous.

Had Hartford Home Insurance for approximately 22 years. Never had claim on homeowners insurance. Recently had two roofs, trees, fence damaged from Hurricane Irma. Our claims adjuster lied to my husband and me constantly saying different things. Going back and forth six months. Not wanting to pay for damages done. Even spoke to his supervisor and nothing was done. Even gave us problems over ten different contractors. Even lied about the amount being paid. Not the correct figures. Now finding out Hartford's figures were incorrect with another Adjuster being Approximately $2,0000 short of paying Restoration Specialist for repairs. Mr. Edward ** was our claims adjuster and constantly lied to us. And not the correct materials. We are still very upset with the results and how we were treated. Always paid our insurance monthly on time 23 years and was treated like this. Was first claim on home in 23 years.

Hartford said they sent a check almost 2 weeks ago and still no check. I asked why would they send a $15 000 check regular mail? And it would take them 7-20 days to stop payment in order to overnight another check!!! What the HELL!!! They should have asked how I wanted to get the check in the first place. I did my part and provided what they ask and now they are giving me a hard time about reissuing a check that's not cashed and could be lost. Those **!!!

Until I was to see a Dr. out of their network. Dr. ** ... For him to do an eval... Which was touch my toes, walk, and talk to him. Question is he did nothing... I got denied. The Hartford displaced retirees from the HIG’s group health plan and offered AON Retiree Health Exchange. Why couldn't the Hartford just offer a group rate for all retirees, in lieu, of us picking your own carrier/coverage? I never paid so much for covered visits. The new AON retiree health exchange benefit is terrible.

My husband recently passed away from Leukemia after a long hard battle. I just found out from the company he worked for that Hartford had denied the life insurance claim even though they had been paying for the insurance each month up until the time he died. Harford is stating that since he had been collecting Long Term Disability through Hartford for over 12 months they will not pay us his life insurance money, I don't understand. Hartford was more than willing to accept the payment each month from the company he worked for but when it comes time to doing what's right they don't. I do not even know what to say.

This is the worst and most unreliable company. The employees only collect a check. If you call customer service to change anything don't count on it being done. Due to the lazy employees that didn't do their job, a policy was cancelled and a senior that is trying to get ssi but has very little income is being fined 2500.00 and now can't find insurance. Thanks Hartford. Rot in hell. Your company sucks. You're supposed to be there for the seniors. Your connection with AARP and all. Do yourself a favor and don't get Hartford insurance.

Won't send you a Claim Form to file a claim! (So they can say: No Claim was made & Not Pay it.) The claim service is a third party company they hire to "Process" claims. (That's a Pun folks!) They lie and every time you call, whomever you get reads from a script and tells you it will arrive in the mail in two weeks. When it doesn't arrive they say it's the USPS fault... Not theirs.
When you ask for it to be sent by fax, they say two days! It never shows up. Last time I called claim center they said they would fax it over in five minutes then call me back. Never Happened! These people are liars! It's been a month now and still no Claim Form! Warning... If you have a Life Insurance Policy you very well may not be paid unless you take legal action which is exactly what I intend to do. Insurance is corrupt in today's world. They love to soak the little guy out of premiums and then they do everything they can to avoid paying off.
It was a 25-year old Life Policy on my husband, a 100% disabled military vet. How despicable are they to do that to a widow of a vet who gave up nine years of his life to serve the same country these vultures suck the last ounce of blood out of. I'm warning everybody, everywhere, as to what they are doing. Don't Buy Life Insurance. Set the money aside for yourself to use, you won't regret it!

Please help me understand what does filing him on my taxes have to do with life insurance. He was in college working full-time. I couldn't file him. He was 22. They are not going to honor my benefits for my son because he didn't live with me and I didn't file him on my taxes. My human resources never explained that to me. My husband passed away on February 7, 2016. He had life insurance with his employer (UHS). They were taking premiums from his check every two weeks, since he began work. The following day which was 2/08/2016 at 8:00 a.m. I began contacting UHS and The Hartford in every effort to make sure that my husband's final expenses would be covered and because his death meant that over half of my income was deleted, therefore it was imperative that I get everything taken care of in a timely manner. I had already assigned my husband's body to the funeral home of my choice. To make a long story short, after repeated contact with the insurance company (The Hartford Life Insurance Company) and his employer I recd. a packet from the Hartford requesting more information to process the claim. It is 3/18/16 almost three month later. HELP.

My father died and had AAA for auto road service. It turned out in the 'fine print' it said that benefits were payable for 'home accidents.' He had fallen at home multiple times after being released from hospital after Medicare didn't consider him meeting the 'definition of disabled' at age 93 and after lying in a hospital bed a week. After the falls - (no head injuries -just basic falls, no broken bones) - he ended up back in hospital. A week later he died from an overdose. So, when I stumbled upon the "fine print" - I thought "I wonder..." I called AAA - this was about eight months after he had died - and asked. "Yes", AAA thought Hartford might consider his falls as qualifying as home accidents. Sure enough, after I called Hartford, they told me it would get processed by a third party company first, (screening) then it comes to them.
I called that company and it passed the second level of screening. Then I called Hartford and it was walked through. From beginning to end, the first call to AAA to Hartford over-nighting a check I think all in all it was under four weeks. Very impressed with Hartford corporate and all the people along the way. Great and kind staff. Can't say enough positive comments. The one negative -- it would be nice to get policies directly from Hartford and skip over AAA and the third party processor. Not being able to directly reach an insurance agent for Hartford without having to do some research through the corporate office was frustrating. If I had tried to do this right after my father's passing it would likely have been overwhelming.
