Make it easy to get a quote online and usually cheaper than other companies, Claim process is easy and paid quickly. The issue after spending thousands annually after the 1st claim they won’t renew your insurance.

Been a BOATUS customer since 1992. Had one claim in 2017 for $400. Experienced an issue with an engine and claimed wear and tear without a proper maintenance and visual review from adjuster, which by the way had no experience with anything boat related. Just another claim denier to help the company maintain a profit. Terrible service. I DO NOT RECOMMEND GETTING INSURANCE FROM THEM!!!

I had my boat motor stolen! I discovered they wanted me to do the role of their claim examiner! Unknown hidden coverage issues! Deflate "value 80%?". Then even having no deductible they are "deducting 500 dollars". There seems to be an opportunity for a class action here! Interested people please like!! So annoying I've been insured through West Marine since 1995?. I'd like to bill them my time working as their claim examiner!!

They kept taking an additional 200 from price agreed and kept raising and raising the price without notice because the law protects them when you set on auto-pay due to hidden print in contract. Be careful, go somewhere else. This is not a good business!!

They canceled my insurance coverage and never called me or sent a letter. No email. No nothing. I use their app and it said I was covered. I had proof of that, and they still refused to cover my claim. I had no idea my boat wasn’t covered at the time I took it out. I’m now canceling all of my Geico policies because of how I have been treated. They even tried to tell me they did send a letter saying my policy was canceled, but that was a complete lie. I never got any letter.

I bought a brand new boat in 2020. I added the boat as a brand new boat thinking the trailer was covered being that it was financed as a complete package. Little did I know they never added the trailer! Looking over the declaration page it shows trailer included but because there was not an amount, it actually was not included. It’s a good thing I found this out before something happened to the trailer. I got nothing but a runaround. I will be changing insurance companies and recommend for other people to go elsewhere where the employees can better assist you in understanding your policy before you pay for it.

First claim with Boat USA, Geico Marine, TERRIBLE customer service. The adjusters NEVER returned my calls. I never have a clue what is going on, they never inform me. I called many times, and only once did someone answer the phone and they were quite vague. After TWO MONTHS, they finally sent me an 'Estimate' of 'their' decision, which did NOT even address the route problem, and was for 1/3 of the actual costs for repair. It's now time to call my attorney. I can not believe the poor service and response I have received. I have been a customer of Geico for OVER 35 years. It's time to switch insurers.

I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration with the service I received from Geico Marine. I have never been so dissatisfied with a company before, and I feel compelled to share my experience with others. I recently had to file a claim with Geico Marine, and the process was nothing short of a nightmare. From the very beginning, it was clear that the customer service representatives had no interest in helping me or resolving my issue. They were unresponsive, unhelpful, and at times, even rude.
To make matters worse, the claim was handled in an incredibly slow and inefficient manner. I was left on hold for long periods of time, and when I did finally get through to someone, I was passed from one person to another without any real progress being made. I am extremely disappointed with the service I received from Geico Marine and I would not recommend this company to anyone. First, Geico raised my deductible because of a "named" storm. Pretty convenient knowing that the insurer will likely get screwed for a situation beyond their control. Secondly, I called to report damage to my boat after hurricane Ian. Geico sent a person who admittedly stated they knew nothing about boats. I explained, in detail, the damage. The adjuster only took photos and DID NOT write anything down. A few days went by and I called to check the status of my claim. I was told the damage barely met my deductible. How convenient! I requested to speak with the adjuster. I was provided with a name and number. This was a different person.... NOT the person who came to my house. I learned that the person who came to my house only submitted photos to another adjuster with NO explanation of the damage which would correspond with the photos.
The other adjuster admitted that he simply looked at the photos and with NO explanation of damage or anything, he decided the damage barely met my deductible....how convenient!!! When asked, "Do you not think it would have been appropriate to call and talk to me about the photos and get a detailed description of what you are looking at as well as the damage?" He stated, "YOU'RE RIGHT".... "How can I help you?"... I then requested a new adjuster come out and complete a proper adjustment for the damage on my boat.... He refused and referred me to the claims department. I called claims and expressed my concerns and requested a new adjuster.... I was told to get an estimate and submit it.... They will then reopen my claim for review.
Furthermore, I was told they followed proper procedure and my claim was handled correctly.... THIS IS THE CORRECT WAY TO ASSESS DAMAGE???? Very questionable and improperly handled in my opinion. I will not be renewing my policy with Geico. I called two other insurance companies for quotes on my boat and told them my experience with Geico.... The agents I spoke with were not surprised and assured me they certainly do things differently and take care of the insurer. I asked about raising my deductible due to a NAMED storm.... Both agents stated "Absolutely not. Your deductible will stay the same."
By the way, both new quotes for the same coverage with Geico is only 10 dollars more a month. Beware of Geico Boat Insurance!!!! I have to pay out of pocket for a certified boat mechanic to look at the damage and write the estimate. I will then submit the estimate to Geico.... It be interesting to see how they will try to screw me again.... I will be changing insurance companies soon.

Recently had damage to my boat. Was trailering it to our lake and hit a pothole in the street due to a lot of construction going on. It damaged one side wheel and had to replace hub, bearings, etc.. A week later putting the boat back in the water the bow eyelet had pulled out on the lower side due to the bouncing from the pothole a week earlier. Came home and used my borescope to take pictures over the front tank of the backside of the eyelet it had pulled through the fiberglass backing. Called Geico and the fun began. Told them what happened and the adjuster started asking for the old parts I replaced on the trailer and receipts. I told them I fixed that, had to to be able to move it. I don't keep old parts around. I throw them out and didn't discover this damage until a week later. They insisted on the receipts and all I had was extra parts new from the repair and the parts store doesn't keep records of parts they don't warrant.
Weeks went by and nothing then I find out my claim had been sent to a liability adjuster. Wth is that? Still nothing. Called back again telling them I need to get this fixed. Guy on phone says give him 5-10 minutes. Comes back and says the notes show based on my pictures that it's normal wear and tear. Really. Never was there before this happened. They didn't want to pay a 620.00 claim. So it's time to contact the Attorney General in Texas and find a better insurance company.

After years of faithfully paying our high premiums with no claims, Geico decided to drop our insurance with no notice because we weren't written with them directly. Apparently they will not rewrite us nor any other boat being dropped because they've made a decision not to ensure boats over 30 years old regardless of their condition. I feel deceived and they should be made refund clients they know they stole money from!! They knew when we bought our policy they wouldn't renew and never disclosed it to us only to get another year's premium! Never will get a dime from us again, do yourself a favor and switch to an ethical company!

Worst claim experience in my life! Geico marine would not allow a mechanic to investigate the damage completely. Using an incomplete quote they are offering me a settlement that does not address damage caused by a fire due to their clients negligent operation of a boat. 5 weeks after the accident and I am still going back and forth with them and will need to retain an attorney. Avoid at all cost, go with Progressive or any other insurance company.

After dutifully paying premiums timely for 12 years, I finally suffered damages due to surge from Hurricane Sally lifting my always covered and sheltered boat into the top of the boathouse breaking the left windshield and frame. After trailering the boat to the purchase dealer and getting them to send a repair estimate to the assigned adjustor, I received a letter from GEICO indicating a 40% depreciation and named storm deductible that netted me zero. I feel foolish for sending these scoundrels my money for all these years.

Geico pulled a Total bait and switch with our insurance quote for our boat! Beware! Even after receiving the quote and within the timeline to honor and within the period stated, after researching other options, we went to find on the last day available to accept the quote, the premium mysteriously went up $700 (in four days.) When we objected and asked them to honor the quote we had in writing, Derrek (the manager) reviewed our email and case and said “sorry, rates have went up”. Not for us! We promptly signed with Travelers for the same price as the original Geico quote. We will NEVER insure anything with Geico and will tell friends and family of our experience. Totally shameful!!

My boat was damaged over 50 days ago and they are stalling to pay. They don’t answer phones, emails in a timely manner. I have caught them in numerous lies throughout the process. They have switched agents on me four times. One agent recently told me it could take over a year to resolve in some cases. I have used Geico for car insurance since I learned to drive and always a great experience. Boat, another story. One thing about me is I won’t give up.

I was out trolling when my engine started spewing oil and water through the carburetor. I got towed in and called Geico Marine, they said take to a shop and get an estimate, so I did. They have no adjusters for boats in Idaho so they hired an outside adjuster. The boat shop tore my motor down to find cracks. In the intake manifold and geico said it was wear and tear. When you take your boat to a shop for maintenance you should have intake manifold removed and inspected (Who does that?) so it was not covered even though the mechanic had never seen that happen before.

I had just purchased a 1994 Blue Water Eagle 180 and was towing it home when my Ford F350 Turbo Diesel just quit on northbound interstate 15 near Norco. I had AAA classic, which covered my truck for 7 miles but did not cover the boat. For the 18 mile trek to my house, I paid $110 for the 11 miles not covered, and paid $500 to tow the boat home. I called Geico Marine the next day and asked them if any of my existing boat policies (I had 3 at the time) which all cover over the water and over the road towing would cover towing this boat that was not yet insured. As it turned out, it was covered, and I just received the check for $500. I'm very grateful to Geico for making this process so easy and painless.

Stop the idiotic commercials and hire some competent personnel. If you're a lizard you will drown with Geico Marine, from policy inception to claims the worst customer service of any insurance company ever! I have been with Geico for over 4 years. Now that I have a claim these clowns have drag this on for 15 weeks and counting. I call each week, they tell me they need a new document. I submit it and then next week it's another document. They asked for the bill of sale. I told them I didn't have one but I gave them a copy of the title. Still not good enough. I would not insure a thing with Geico.

Beware of Geico Marine Insurance. I had a policy for quite some time and had no claims, and then a freak storm came through and my pontoon received substantial hail damage. Prior to the hail damage my boat was basically new.. They sent an adjuster out that drove almost 4 hours to get here. He then writes an estimate that I knew was extremely low. I then took my boat to the dealership and they told me that the estimate that Geico wrote wouldn’t even begin to cover the damages. So they wrote an accurate, and correct estimate. I then called Geico and informed them of this. They told me to Email the new estimate to them, and I did..
They took a lot of time to get back to me, but finally did, and they called and said that they were issuing a check for approximately $8,000 when the estimate was for $21,449.36. When I asked why, they stated that they were not going to cover some of the damages because upon review, they decided that some of the damages were from “normal wear and tear”. This is absolutely not true AT ALL! The damage was clearly from the storm and they just simply don’t want to pay out the money. I handed this over to our attorney and they are now handling this matter. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY FROM GEICO MARINE!!!! Tell everyone you know!!!!

All I need is liability insurance so I can haul my boat. Most boatyards require it. After wasting money on a survey I was told my boat was too new, too big and too expensive for liability only. I would have to buy complete coverage to the tune of $12-14,000/yr. I am retired on SS and a modest IRA. I built the boat (43’ Catamaran) over 7 years and I am personally willing to accept responsibility for personal losses. Insurance company greed. They are trying to force me to buy something I do not want or need. Shame on Geico through BoatUS.

I filed a claim for a Jet ski that was totaled and was told that Geico Marine would pay the claim for the damaged craft and give 20% towards the purchase of a new Jet Ski of equal or lesser value. The agent who handled my claim (Keela) specifically told me that I would have up to three years to use the 20% which ends today 8/19/2019. Over the past few days, I tried to find out about utilizing the 20% towards the purchase of a new Jet Ski and was told I only had up to one year. She now claimed we never had any conversation about the time-frame and lied to to avoid paying up what had been agreed to.
She pointed to my original contract which stated the the time-frame for using the 20% was up to one year but I had an email which stated I would have up to 48 months after the date of accident which indicates we did discussed the time-frame in order to be told I would have 48 months. Geico Marine paid out less for the Jet Ski claiming depreciation and now they have stiffed me by not wanting to honor their initial agreement. If you can avoid it, please do not use Geico Marine for your insurance. They are nice until you have a claim, then they will find a way not to honor their agreements. Don't make the same mistake I did.

If you have a lien holder Geico will put their name on the check. The problem with that is the lien holder will not endorse. They send it to the repair shop where the estimate was done. Case in point, I could have bought a whole brand new lower unit for less than they could repair it for. Basically all the money is invested in labor not parts. You can't get resale on labor. The finance company was Aqua Finance. We are refinancing with someone else and finding a different insurance company. There are idiots to say the least.

After eighteen years of insurance with BoatUS/Geico I had my first claim while backing my boat off trailer with one year old impeller. I ran into mud/goo and had to power through it to get out. The engine alarm went off and I killed engine after about one minute. The engine sustained overheating damage. Geico denied the claim stating insufficient evidence of root cause of overheating. Will definitely find another company to insure my boat. Beware of companies who look for reasons not to cover claims.

Was with BoatUS for many years, never a claim. For the 2018-2019 policy year Aug 2018 thru Aug 2019 policy price was raised 29.5%. A phone call yielded the standard scripted response they were trained to offer. My conclusion Geico no longer wanted my business. In addition, a careful reading of the new BoatUS/Geico policy shows that a new depreciation clause is in the policy. For boats that are going to enter their 20th year and beyond during the policy year Geico is imposing a 10% per year depreciation clause with a floor of 20%.
This means that if you have a partial loss claim, the depreciation clause will apply unless you are making a claim against another company (say someone runs into you). In my case with an older but still very valuable boat I would be out of pocket for the first $22,000! You should carefully check and read the entire policy if you have an older boat! Buyer beware. I moved my business to Pantaenius which has no depreciation clause with a much lower premium. It's a market out there for insurance and it pays to be aware of what's in your policy terms and conditions.
