Worst claim experience in my life! Geico marine would not allow a mechanic to investigate the damage completely. Using an incomplete quote they are offering me a settlement that does not address damage caused by a fire due to their clients negligent operation of a boat. 5 weeks after the accident and I am still going back and forth with them and will need to retain an attorney. Avoid at all cost, go with Progressive or any other insurance company.

The rear of my boat sank due to a defective lift in late 2017. I found out that GEICO sent an UNLICENSED ADJUSTER from Key West and my claim is denied. I will make a complaint to the State of Florida.

After dutifully paying premiums timely for 12 years, I finally suffered damages due to surge from Hurricane Sally lifting my always covered and sheltered boat into the top of the boathouse breaking the left windshield and frame. After trailering the boat to the purchase dealer and getting them to send a repair estimate to the assigned adjustor, I received a letter from GEICO indicating a 40% depreciation and named storm deductible that netted me zero. I feel foolish for sending these scoundrels my money for all these years.

Geico pulled a Total bait and switch with our insurance quote for our boat! Beware! Even after receiving the quote and within the timeline to honor and within the period stated, after researching other options, we went to find on the last day available to accept the quote, the premium mysteriously went up $700 (in four days.) When we objected and asked them to honor the quote we had in writing, Derrek (the manager) reviewed our email and case and said “sorry, rates have went up”. Not for us! We promptly signed with Travelers for the same price as the original Geico quote. We will NEVER insure anything with Geico and will tell friends and family of our experience. Totally shameful!!

My boat was damaged over 50 days ago and they are stalling to pay. They don’t answer phones, emails in a timely manner. I have caught them in numerous lies throughout the process. They have switched agents on me four times. One agent recently told me it could take over a year to resolve in some cases. I have used Geico for car insurance since I learned to drive and always a great experience. Boat, another story. One thing about me is I won’t give up.

I was out trolling when my engine started spewing oil and water through the carburetor. I got towed in and called Geico Marine, they said take to a shop and get an estimate, so I did. They have no adjusters for boats in Idaho so they hired an outside adjuster. The boat shop tore my motor down to find cracks. In the intake manifold and geico said it was wear and tear. When you take your boat to a shop for maintenance you should have intake manifold removed and inspected (Who does that?) so it was not covered even though the mechanic had never seen that happen before.

I had just purchased a 1994 Blue Water Eagle 180 and was towing it home when my Ford F350 Turbo Diesel just quit on northbound interstate 15 near Norco. I had AAA classic, which covered my truck for 7 miles but did not cover the boat. For the 18 mile trek to my house, I paid $110 for the 11 miles not covered, and paid $500 to tow the boat home. I called Geico Marine the next day and asked them if any of my existing boat policies (I had 3 at the time) which all cover over the water and over the road towing would cover towing this boat that was not yet insured. As it turned out, it was covered, and I just received the check for $500. I'm very grateful to Geico for making this process so easy and painless.

Stop the idiotic commercials and hire some competent personnel. If you're a lizard you will drown with Geico Marine, from policy inception to claims the worst customer service of any insurance company ever! I have been with Geico for over 4 years. Now that I have a claim these clowns have drag this on for 15 weeks and counting. I call each week, they tell me they need a new document. I submit it and then next week it's another document. They asked for the bill of sale. I told them I didn't have one but I gave them a copy of the title. Still not good enough. I would not insure a thing with Geico.

Beware of Geico Marine Insurance. I had a policy for quite some time and had no claims, and then a freak storm came through and my pontoon received substantial hail damage. Prior to the hail damage my boat was basically new.. They sent an adjuster out that drove almost 4 hours to get here. He then writes an estimate that I knew was extremely low. I then took my boat to the dealership and they told me that the estimate that Geico wrote wouldn’t even begin to cover the damages. So they wrote an accurate, and correct estimate. I then called Geico and informed them of this. They told me to Email the new estimate to them, and I did..
They took a lot of time to get back to me, but finally did, and they called and said that they were issuing a check for approximately $8,000 when the estimate was for $21,449.36. When I asked why, they stated that they were not going to cover some of the damages because upon review, they decided that some of the damages were from “normal wear and tear”. This is absolutely not true AT ALL! The damage was clearly from the storm and they just simply don’t want to pay out the money. I handed this over to our attorney and they are now handling this matter. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY FROM GEICO MARINE!!!! Tell everyone you know!!!!

All I need is liability insurance so I can haul my boat. Most boatyards require it. After wasting money on a survey I was told my boat was too new, too big and too expensive for liability only. I would have to buy complete coverage to the tune of $12-14,000/yr. I am retired on SS and a modest IRA. I built the boat (43’ Catamaran) over 7 years and I am personally willing to accept responsibility for personal losses. Insurance company greed. They are trying to force me to buy something I do not want or need. Shame on Geico through BoatUS.

I filed a claim for a Jet ski that was totaled and was told that Geico Marine would pay the claim for the damaged craft and give 20% towards the purchase of a new Jet Ski of equal or lesser value. The agent who handled my claim (Keela) specifically told me that I would have up to three years to use the 20% which ends today 8/19/2019. Over the past few days, I tried to find out about utilizing the 20% towards the purchase of a new Jet Ski and was told I only had up to one year. She now claimed we never had any conversation about the time-frame and lied to to avoid paying up what had been agreed to.
She pointed to my original contract which stated the the time-frame for using the 20% was up to one year but I had an email which stated I would have up to 48 months after the date of accident which indicates we did discussed the time-frame in order to be told I would have 48 months. Geico Marine paid out less for the Jet Ski claiming depreciation and now they have stiffed me by not wanting to honor their initial agreement. If you can avoid it, please do not use Geico Marine for your insurance. They are nice until you have a claim, then they will find a way not to honor their agreements. Don't make the same mistake I did.

Hit a submerged object and DESTROYED the entire out drive. The pinion gear exploded and rained pieces of metal throughout the drive upper and lower. Boat US (Geico) insurance Co is ignoring me and or keeps asking for documents and pics I gave them 2 weeks ago. I need some advice. If I can not get approved within a week I'll miss the whole season of using my CY (The only shop in my area that can get to it now mechanic is going to Canada in 2 weeks for months).

If you have a lien holder Geico will put their name on the check. The problem with that is the lien holder will not endorse. They send it to the repair shop where the estimate was done. Case in point, I could have bought a whole brand new lower unit for less than they could repair it for. Basically all the money is invested in labor not parts. You can't get resale on labor. The finance company was Aqua Finance. We are refinancing with someone else and finding a different insurance company. There are idiots to say the least.

After eighteen years of insurance with BoatUS/Geico I had my first claim while backing my boat off trailer with one year old impeller. I ran into mud/goo and had to power through it to get out. The engine alarm went off and I killed engine after about one minute. The engine sustained overheating damage. Geico denied the claim stating insufficient evidence of root cause of overheating. Will definitely find another company to insure my boat. Beware of companies who look for reasons not to cover claims.

Was with BoatUS for many years, never a claim. For the 2018-2019 policy year Aug 2018 thru Aug 2019 policy price was raised 29.5%. A phone call yielded the standard scripted response they were trained to offer. My conclusion Geico no longer wanted my business. In addition, a careful reading of the new BoatUS/Geico policy shows that a new depreciation clause is in the policy. For boats that are going to enter their 20th year and beyond during the policy year Geico is imposing a 10% per year depreciation clause with a floor of 20%.
This means that if you have a partial loss claim, the depreciation clause will apply unless you are making a claim against another company (say someone runs into you). In my case with an older but still very valuable boat I would be out of pocket for the first $22,000! You should carefully check and read the entire policy if you have an older boat! Buyer beware. I moved my business to Pantaenius which has no depreciation clause with a much lower premium. It's a market out there for insurance and it pays to be aware of what's in your policy terms and conditions.

Had a total loss on my boat while on land and no fault of mine whatsoever. Vessel was improperly blocked up by the marina and weight of it overtook the hull sending the supporting blocks through the bottom of the boat into the cabin. Geico was quick to send a surveyor out within 2 days. Once the report was sent to them there was no contact with me unless I called them. I did everything required. Double-checked. It was accurate and still was never once contacted by them. I called several times a week to find out the status of the claim.
Eventually all paperwork was signed notarized and original documents including the title were overnighted to them on Monday for delivery Tuesday as requested. Some idiot at Geico refused to sign for the overnight package. Because of this my claim was delayed a week. I was in the process of purchasing a new boat out of state using the funds from the claim. The package was tracked down by me to Alexandria Virginia. Several notes were left by the USPS stating there was a package for them at the post office but no one picked it up until I called Geico and told them it was there. It still took them until Friday to pick it up.
Now almost 12 days after I overnighted it they still tell me the Salvage department is reviewing the documents which they have now had for one week. I was initially told it would take 2 days after receiving the documents. Upon calling today I was told that the Salvage department is backed up and it may take longer now. I have a new boat 3 states away that I am in the process of purchasing, financing and having delivered but nowhere in sight is my down payment from the claim check that I was promised would be in my possession at the end of the week I overnighted it.
I have about a week left before I have to lay my own money out for the downpayment. Every time I called they acknowledged the errors and lack of communication and did nothing but apologize. Apologizing does nothing but anger me. But they did offer to overnight the check to me. Wow they must really care. On top of that just for ha-ha's I requested a quote for the new boat. I have over 35 years of boating experience and hold a captain's license for about 16 years. I have never had an accident nor put a claim in. My policy more than tripled and the reason they stated was that I was grandfathered in under the old rates.
Biggest croc of ** I ever heard. Called several insurance companies and the rates were pretty much in line with my old policy. I gave it two stars because the rates were good when I initially insured the boat. I would give it 5 stars for the rate but zero stars for customer service and competence. Overall the claim went fast because of my constantly calling them. However if I did not intercede absolutely nothing would have gotten done. If you are willing to go through what I did and keep on top of them in the event of a claim then go for it.

If you want a insurance company that works harder to not cover anything vs support you as a client/customer, then by all means get their coverage. I had to pay $2K for a out of water survey to get their insurance, when I did, they then dropped me months later after a very egotistical 3rd party insurance adjuster came out who was looking for more issues vs supporting and or reporting on my claim. Extremely unprofessional and a huge loss of money and time! Epitome of corporate insurance with a volume business strategy, NOT customer service.

Received my GEICO Marine Insurance policy on my personal recreation use only Hatteras Motor Yacht to find good news, deductible still $0 dollars due to history of no claims but bad news, without explanation, my premium more than doubled!!! When I called Boat US to see if there was a mistake, I asked to speak who was in charge of the BoatUS/GEICO alliance, I was told by the heinous on the phone, "Warren Buffet". Really? I own a boat in Florida, I am a responsible owner and when I became aware I was in the path of hurricane Irma I did the responsible thing and had my boat hauled and stored in a safe place at my own expense. The hurricane passed without incident to my boat and I put her safety back in the water. Today I received my BoatUS insurance renewal and it begins "Congratulations because of your excellent claims record" it then goes on to tell me my policy has increased by 24% or $263 for my excellent claims record. It also mentions that my hull deductible has decreased to 25% so in order to take advantage of my excellent claims record I need to make a claim? go figure, I foolishly thought that BoatUS was an organization that existed for the benefit of boat owners, ensuring there best interests, clearly I was wrong, they are just another company ensuring they maximize their profit.

I been toyed with. Told my engine's repair had to be reviewed and I was promised a refund on some expenses I paid out of pocket such as boat battery's but I wasn't refunded. Was told my claim was being reviewed and the manager only called me after I left an angry voicemail to the adjuster of my claim for not calling me back. The manager claim he would call me back with follow up and it's passed the time he claimed. I called today and I was on hold for 30min and no answer. I have a boat that needs to be moved out by the end of Aug and the new slip wants me to drive in not be towed in.
Without the repairs I can't drive in. This insurance company delay and lack of service has my life on hold. If they hurried and fixed my boat I would of been driving in to my new slip that I was on a waiting list for 1 year and finally got it and I won't be telling all of you to not insure your boat with GEICO. We are a military family yet I get no respect. The military marina I'm at now plays no games. The boat has to be moved out by the end of Aug. It's August 25th and still no insurance moves towards service repairs. Waste of my money with this company. But they have no problem collecting my bill payment on time.

I have had my boat insurance through BoatUS since purchasing it 2013 and have been very satisfied with their coverage and fair premiums. During this period BoatUS changed their underwriter to GEICO. I have had no claims the entire time with BoatUS; this year my premium went up 25%. My reward for being claims free is a reduction in the hull deductible, so the only way for me to benefit from not having any claims is to have one; this is great, make perfectly good sense to me? I guess knowing that GEICO is a Berkshire Hathaway I shouldn't be surprised!

Geico did just enough to replace any damage caused to the customer’s boat in case of anything that will happen such as if it was stolen or if it broke down. With extra coverage the customer got extra benefits such as not having to pay a dime in case something happened to their boat that wasn't on their fault. In fact, I never had any problems out of my insurance company. They always gave me good and fast service and always had answers to any questions or concerns that I had with my plan. Customer service was mostly fast and done at a pace that was good for me and they didn't keep me waiting and was always on their toes.

The standard boat coverage provided by GEICO is good. But there are many things like boat length where GEICO is little particular. There are lot of extra coverage options like property damage to docks and other boats, physical damage to boat. You will need to analyze how good a boater you are and where you will boating. GEICO's price is same as other insurance providers. Only difference is there are no agents to explain everything if an accident happens. Also, the customer service provided by GEICO is really good. Any incident and the customer representative will get all the details and call for towing services immediately. Any questions regarding the damage will be analyzed truthfully.

This was the most worthy thing I've ever done and I wish Geico my very best.

I called around and couldn't find anything better. I also did some online quotes as well and still could not find anything lower than Geico. While I would recommend the extra coverage, the standard coverage was fine for me. We did not use our boat that often. For people who are on the water a lot, I would recommend getting some of the extras.
