    Very very disappointed with this insurance company. Took a week to get my replacement device when it usually take a day. Very slow process to get approved. Pay every month for insurance and haven't lost my device in years and took too long to get approved so was out a phone for about a week! And on top of that they send me the wrong color phone!!

    Worse service ever. Cried and curse for almost 2 weeks because my claim of a cracked screen is under review. It was a nightmare. My son had to use the neighbor's phone to let me know he is home.     When I called whom ever picked up the phone sounded like they weren't working, all you heard was loud laughter in the background and music. When I told them I got sent a phone that didn't work they told me that I would inquire another fee for them to send me another refurbished phone. I then asked if this happened again what happens next. As I didn't want to continue to receive non-working refurbs, and I was told I would have to upgrade at that point. Which made me upset because my phone is paid off and because I can't get a decent replacement. I have now paid over $100 for I'm going to have to be forced to upgrade, and pay hundreds out of pocket. Not acceptable. Why pay monthly for a service of replacement if this is the treatment we receive. I think next time I will just stay with a cracked screen.

    Had a phone replaced on 7 Sep and activated to on 10 Sep, 2 days later the phone quit working and had to call in for another replacement which I was told that Apple would be handling it from here on out. Called Apple and was told that I had to go through several checks before I could get a replacement, after 3 days with the phone in my hand and still not working I was told from Apple that I would have to take the phone into an authorized dealer, Best Buy and have them run basically the same diagnostic check to determine when I could get another phone, my appointment date was set for 15 Sep, while I was hooked up to my computer the phone fell off the counter and cracked the screen.

    At this point I was told that it would cost me 400 dollars to replace the screen and then they could look at the phone I told them that it would be cheaper to file another claim, which I did on the 16th of Sep... I was told 1-3 days would be the turnaround, then I was told it would be 3-5 days for the turnaround, then I was told that the review for the claim had timed out and they would start the process over again, I finally became frustrated and called my advocate, US Cellular, they went to bat for me and I was able to get the ball rolling again, I finally got a replacement on the 24th of Sep and this phone is working. I do not want to go through your process again, but it seems that I have no options at this point, I just hope I don't have to... Thanks.

    The employees were very friendly in helping me replace my stolen phone but but that’s where my good experience stopped. Very few people there know what information is correct. After calling and asking how much it would be to replace my phone I was told one price. Then when I went to pay given a much more expensive one and told the original one was the wrong one and had to start my whole claim over because I didn’t want to pay the more expensive price. I needed the phone and eventually had to pay it because that was the price, but was assured that I Wally’s for that price be sent a brand new phone.

    When my “new” phone arrived it was in fact not new but refurbished. So I called back and stated my displeasure and they admitted I had been given bad information and told me even though I had the name of the person I spoke to originally there was no way to connect me through to them again because their system doesn’t work that way. They kept calling it “miscommunication” and I said it’s not miscommunication saying a new phone will be sent and not sending one is lying. So I asked to speak to a manager who admitted their mistake as well but told me nothing could be done unless I wanted to just send the phone back which I couldn’t do because I needed it as I use my phone for everything. In the end if you use this company go directly to management and make sure you ask all your questions upfront to someone in charge so you don’t the wrong information.

    My experience dealing with Assurant was nothing short of awful. My replacement was assured for the next business day but I waited 5 days without so much as a confirmation email. Then I had called to hear that my order request hadn't even been confirmed by Assurant staff. Then I waited another 4 days until I finally received my replacement device.

    To add insult to injury, I had to pick up the device myself at the UPS customer service center when I checked to see that there was an error with the shipping information, which was very much out of my way. A device that arrived with scratch marks on the back and cracks on the glass camera lenses protector. Not to mention the abysmal customer service I received from Assurant call centers. Of whom I had to contact many times to finally connect to someone who knew what they were doing. Maybe this was all a string of horrible luck, but it came to be a major inconvenience that at times required me to put my own life on hold just to make sure that my replacement arrived as promptly as it could. Insurance should work FOR you, and not the other way around.

    THEY GET ZERO STARS. But wouldn't let me post this with less than one star. They deserve negative stars! I paid them every month for over a year. Finally I broke my phone, so insurance should be helpful? Assurant is not. I filed my claim, paid them their money and my claim was approved that night. Now over a week later I still have no phone. I've called 30 times and all anyone at the company can tell me is sorry we have NO phones in the warehouse to send you. Not my phone or one close to it. They never even bothered to message me to tell me they didn't have the phone. They just left me waiting and I had to call them to find out. No matter how high up in the company they were they said the same thing, "Sorry for the inconvenience. We took your money but we don't have any phones in our warehouse to send you." And they cannot tell me when they will have one. Could be tomorrow. Could be 3 months from now. They have no idea.

    Honestly they don't care at all. They already took my money knowing they had no phone to give me. I would have been so much better off without insurance. I could have taken all the money that I had paid them over the year plus the money I paid them when I filed the claim, gone to the store and bought a new phone that day. Instead they're holding me hostage, took my money, won't return it and will not give me a phone or even tell me when I will get a phone. So my business is going without a phone because of them and costing me a ton of money.

    Now I'm forced to go buy my own phone out of my own pocket even though I've already paid the insurance company. Assurant insurance for your phone will cost you more money and trouble than if you had no insurance at all. They also have zero customer service and nobody is accountable for anything. Anybody who works for this company should be embarrassed. DON'T PAY ASSURANT PHONE INSURANCE ONE PENNY OF YOUR MONEY!!!!

    The replacement phone I received was a USED Verizon phone. Not a new Spectrum iPhone. The process was ridiculous and long. Not happy. My brand new phone was USED and from another carrier. Also, was told deductible would be 100.00 NO MATTER WHAT and that was not true. I had to pay 280.00. Not 100.00. Very misleading and then they send you a old ** phone from another carrier.     This company is a total fraud. I've read online of the scams they pulled on people and amazingly it actually happened to me. I have T-mobile and went thru the necessary steps to return my phone. Two months later, I'm getting charged 510 dollars because they said I returned the phone without actually putting it in the box. Mind you I filmed myself putting in the box, since in the scams I read about this company, it's happened to other people in the past.

    I called multiple times to give them a chance to rectify this as I am a 100% backed myself up with filming everything I did with the package. Every time I would call they would say that they need to talk to the warehouse and be stuck on the phone for up to 2-3 hours in their back and forth. At the end of these calls they said they'll contact me later on if they found it. They never called back and when I would call again, the same thing happened with having to talk to "customer service" for hours. As you can see they were just giving me the runaround, probably in an attempt to break my will in correcting this error on their part. It's clear they are a fraudulent company and have already got all my friend and family to stop doing any business with them.

    Approved my claim, shipped the device, never received it, got a notification that it was shipped back to them. Called and on hold for over 35 minutes before asking if they can call back when they find out what happened. Never called me back. Call back a day or two later. Call back and told it'll be shipped back out on in 6 days. Ask for someone who can maybe help me get it back faster since there was no delivery attempt. (I was home that whole day.) Hung up on me after putting me on a 20 minute hold. Call back again and told the claim was actually cancelled and I need to send a letter in the mail to find out why.     I received my refurbished phone, 2 weeks later I had to return it because I couldn't hear 80 percent of the conversation. I was told that in order to get my new refurbished phone my information has to be in before a certain time for next day delivery. I rushed over to FedEx between 1:30 and 2 pm. I called in the info, and was told I'll have my phone tomorrow. I received it Tuesday after 4:30. Now the new phone is already doing the same thing. This is not acceptable, I've spoken to at least 3 Managers or transferred Supervisor's phones. I have to deal with this nonsense until I can purchase a new phone. I paid over 200 dollars for my and a 100 dollar deductible and I was told I'll continue receiving refurbished phone until I get one that works. No way is this fair.

    I was told by an Assurant employee and a T-Mobile employee that when I submitted my claim, it would be for my screen to be fixed. I would receive a replacement device and would have my phone sent back to me when it was finished. This was told by two separate people on two separate occasions. Come to find out, that's not how this works at all and the replacement device is in fact my "new phone". Since I thought I was getting my device back, I didn't think to save the notes I had on my phone, login information, and a million other things you don't think about until they're gone. Next time this happens, I'm just going to Apple where they can fix my screen.

    I recently had my phone replaced by Assurant due to a crack screen and received a refurbished phone. My original phone was a Samsung Galaxy S9 Edge and my experience was great. I was able to take it to the pool and take underwater videos and take pictures at the pool with no issues of water damage. So just fyi, it is listed as IP68 resistance which indicates that it is resistant to water at 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes. The replacement phone I received from Assurant was good until I accidentally dropped it in bath water for less than 10 seconds. After it fell, the camera failed and then had difficulty charging and now does not turn on. There is evidence of fog in the cameras so for some reason my Samsung Galaxy S9 which is IP68 resistant got water in it.

    I called Assurant and argued that the phone I received was not the same phone that I originally got since it was not IP68 resistant. They stated that it's damaged due to water so would need to file a claim. I argued that they did not send me a phone of like quality because my original phone was functional in the water and the one they sent me got damaged after less than 10 seconds in fresh water. Assurant would not budge and stated that I had to file a new claim and pay for a new deductible. They say they replaced my phone with a like phone but my argument is that it is not a like phone because it is not IP68 resistant. They refused to replace the replacement phone.

    What is the use of insurance if they are not going to replaced the product with the same product or product of like quality? The phone I received was not of like quality because it was not IP68 resistant. So just a warning to other consumers that if you purchased a phone that is IP68 resistant do not expect your replacement phone to be IP68 resistant from Assurant and if you do get it wet and gets damaged you will still have to pay the deductible.

    Literally the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with. From the time I started the process till I actually got my replacement phone was over a month. Tried to go online and "fast and easily" file my claim... The day I created the account I tried to log back in at a different time and it would not accept my password that I just created hours earlier. When I tried to call in to do it over the phone of course I had to have the primary account holder on the line so then I had to arrange time with him where we could both be there to call and file the claim. Once that happened he literally verified the billing address and was not a part of the conversation whatsoever thereafter.

    After the claim was filed I waited several days for the phone to actually be mailed and when I tracked the tracking the package had been sent back. When I called fedex to find out why the package had not been delivered to my home they told me someone from your company recalled the shipment and therefore they had to send it back to you all and someone from your front office signed for it. When I called you all to find out why the package had been recalled, even though the $100 had already been debited from my account AND I had an email stating that my claim was approved, your representatives blamed it on fedex and said the package was not recalled.

    Once I escalated to a manager, of course they tried to get me off the phone by saying I needed the primary account holder on the line, so instead of hanging up and driving all the way to his house and starting this whole process all over again, I 3 wayed him in on the call. Once he was on the line the supervisor literally said "is Scott ** on the line?" and he said "yes" and he did not answer a single question thereafter. Absolutely no reason whatsoever for me to have to bring him on the line. All she did was reissue the phone back out to me which of course would take another business day to get to me and this was on a Friday so I had to wait 3 MORE days to get my phone. I worked in call centers for 6 years out of my life and never have I ever heard of a call center that does not give their managers deescalation tools. NEVER.

    This whole situation would have went so much more smoothly if she would have had a simple deescalation tool of being able to simply overnight my phone to me. RIDICULOUS! I've spoken to us cellular about my "quick and easy" claim already and have highly recommended that they go through a new insurance company. I'll end this conversation the same way it started. Literally the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with.

    In short, I submitted an insurance claim for my damaged T-Mobile device to Assurant on March 1, 2019. On 4/10/2019 the claim was actually filed, and a refurbished device was sent to my residence, along with instructions pertaining to returning the defective device to Assurant. I followed the exact steps that Assurant provided in sending the defective phone unit to them once I submitted my insurance claim.

    They provided the return envelope, and instructions in dropping the phone off at the local postal facility. Assurant did not provide any further instruction with regard to ensuring their receipt of the phone unit. Assurant did not make any provisions for me to obtain a tracking number or model number for the phone unit. Per Assurant's instructions, the phone was taken to the postal service, and dropped into the outgoing mail box. I did not hear back from Assurant regarding the device, and assumed that they did receive it, as I was using their return envelope. Never the less, unbeknownst to me, the device was somehow lost in transit to them.

    Now, as I was reading my monthly statement with T-Mobile I see that Assurant has billed me $336.36 for the defective device that I returned to them. I contacted Assurant and T-Mobile regarding this matter, and Assurant refused to honor the fact that I followed their instructions, utilizing the tools and procedures that they provided, and I should not be held liable since the breakdown was within their procedures. I contacted their Escalations Department on 2 separate occasions. My last and final call, I spoke with a supervisor named Mandy ** who also refused to escalate my concern beyond her team. At this point I am extremely appalled by Assurant's cavalier attitude towards accepting responsibility and accountability, and forcing me to not only pay for a non-working device that I've consistently paid insurance for, but more importantly, failing to provide a better protocol or retrieving/returning the defective devices.

    It took over 5 hours for Assurant to simply access and verify my account. It was verified at 4:30pm est on Thursday and my device wasn’t sent out until Friday. I was given misinformation and wrong information from 2 different supervisors, one telling me they could expedite the shipping and I would receive it Saturday, one saying I wouldn’t receive it until Monday. The address I gave was only valid for Saturday and made that very clear to you guys, and again I was guaranteed Saturday delivery.

    As you know you don’t ship on Saturday, so my device wasn’t sent until Monday, and I was no longer at that address. So it was cancelled and redirected to a new address and my device was received on Wednesday. Almost a week after my claim was filed.     I placed my claim on a Saturday and it took forever to be approved, usually it’s instantly. I received my phone on a Tuesday just to find out the damn thing did not power on. I contacted T-Mobile who transferred me to Apple. I had to make an appointment the next day just drive out of my way to Apple. I was told that they would be able to just replace it. Just to get there and have to have them send it off for repair. I had to wait an additional 5 days for a phone to be repaired that you guaranteed would work. Apple stated the motherboard had to be replaced. You guys can’t possibly check those devices. Not to mention the steep 240.00 bucks I had to pay on top of paying monthly for my insurance. In my line of work I depend on my device so I am very upset I lost a lot of money dealing with your low quality of a business.

    I made my claim on the 12th and was approved on the 13th. I was supposed to receive my replacement on the following Monday the 16th. I did not receive it because the apartment number was not included in my address. That order was canceled and I "new" phone was sent out. I received it on Tuesday and the phone was faulty. I proceeded to send back both phones on Wednesday. I was told a new phone would be sent out once both phones were in transit.     I had originally filed a claim, thinking my phone had possible water damage. I found out I potentially had warranty through Apple, and since the phone is water resistant, was recommended to take it to Apple. I cancelled my insurance claim with Assurant, and never received the insurance replacement. They informed me it would take 10 days to receive my deductible refund.

    I took the phone to Apple the next day to see if their one-year warranty would cover it. They confirmed it would, and offered to exchange the phone. There was an issue though. The IMEI had already been swapped with the insurance replacement, and therefore Apple couldn't exchange the phone. Apple told me to contact Assurant, and confirm that they would swap back the IMEI. I talked to Assurant, and they said they would. And they never really ever did. I've been without a phone for a week and a half plus. I ultimately ordered a new phone from T-Mobile, and bit the bullet.

    I called to report a claim for my phone that had stopped working. I received my new phone just a few days later and SENT out the broken phone the NEXT day. They are now charging me full price for the phone because they said they never received the phone. I dropped the phone off at the post office in the envelope that was provided. I called and let them know I do not have the phone, they will not work on this with me. The company said I have to pay for it or my phone will be disconnected.     Updated on 09/21/2019: I filled a claim on Monday 9/16, they approved it on Wednesday, they supposed ship it Thursday for a Friday delivery. After I didn't get anything on Friday, I called and asked why? They said the delay is because they dont have a phone. How can you sell a product/service and charge money knowing you dont have what you are selling? Do not insure your phone through this company. They will put you through a lot and you might just decide to cut your losses and buy a new phone for convenience. That is probably what they want.

    Sending me on a wild goose chase, asking for proof that no one can provide! Assurant asked me to send them the official receipt from Samsung. I went to my online account, printed out the official invoice, proof of delivery, etc... To prove that I purchased from Samsung. Assurant wants to have the IMEI number on the receipt. Samsung reps keep telling me that Samsung doesn't provide that on the receipts. It's not in the invoice program or has the option to enter it on the invoice system at Samsung.     Assurant is refusing to fulfill on its insurance contract to provide a replacement phone due to an internal system issue they can't resolve. I purchased a new Google Pixel 3 XL from Google with preferred care for $129 which became activated on 10/16/2018 and is supposed to remain active until 10/16/2020. The contract number is **. I dropped my phone and broke the back glass which is covered under the insurance policy. When I called them to get a replacement, I was told they wouldn't be able to fulfill my replacement because the IMEI on the insurance policy was changed. I have never transferred this policy, have no record/email of that being the case, and they couldn't provide me with additional details.

    Assurant said that they were working off information in their system sent to them directly by Google. I called Google and explained to them this issue. Google stated they don't see any account changes and that my IMEI registered for preferred care is still active. After many hours and multiple 3 way calls with Assurant and Google, Assurant maintained that they couldn't fulfill on this policy even though Google was clearly telling them that my policy is still active with my current IMEI. They were incapable of escalating internally. I am now out of a phone and an insurance policy (over $1128 total), many hours of my time, and no solution.

    Assurant messed up my records so bad I spent hours on the phone, bouncing back and forth between you and Samsung trying to get it all straightened out, even had to get a 3-way call between you guys and Samsung to make some progress. The online process obviously wasn't available to me because of this. After I thought it was all figured out, according to the service tech on the 3-way call, then my claim was denied again. Another call and got someone competent this time, who figured all this out in about 10 minutes and I had the approval over the phone. I thought this would be the end of it, but I was wrong.

    After my replacement device arrived I got the good news that my claim was approved, again. So another deductible was pulled from my credit card, another device was sent out, another string of calls to figure out how 2 claims were filed against the same IMEI number and how I could get my second deductible returned. I returned both devices 1 day after my second device arrived. About a week later I receive an email telling me to return my broken device or I'll be charged another $420! More time and headache to provide evidence of return before I was assured everything has been straightened out and I should receive my second deductible refund soon. I still don't have my money back and at this point I don't think I should have had to pay the first deductible due to the hassle of this process.

    Now I get asked to fill out two of these surveys, which I'm sure won't go anywhere to the Assurant's incompetence but I felt like venting about a horrible experience. This is quite the scam Assurant is running here, I regret getting suckered by it but I've learned never to buy phone insurance again at least. I would rate -5 stars if possible. What a horrible, horrible process, Assurant should be ashamed.

My problem was never solved. I was Better off going into T-Mobile myself to get a phone. Instead of waiting for 4/5 days with their so called EXPRESS shipping. Which is a lie. Very unsatisfied.
