I love American Home Shield. I’ve been with them for 16 years and they’ve improved dramatically. At first, years ago the repair people would come out and their goal was “How can I say it’s not covered?” Three years ago, it all changed. They’ve gone completely customer-service oriented and it’s great. They perform a good service, and I’m very pleased that I’ve been with them so long. Even when it was a little difficult before, if you knew what you were doing, they still came through. So I recommend AHS to a lot of my friends. A bunch of them have taken up on it and have been satisfied as well.

American Home Shield recommends that you have your air conditioning unit serviced twice a year, once in the spring before summer starts up and then once in the fall before winter starts up. So the last time they sent a contractor out was to check our AC unit. It’s just general maintenance but the contractor was very good. I love American Home Shield.

A service request was placed on 7/15/15, today is 7/31/15 and my daughter and I still do not have working AC. I have been given a different story by each customer service rep that I speak with. I placed a request for a supervisor to call me a week ago and I still haven't heard back. I was told that customers can not call in directly to supervisors and all I can do is wait. Two technicians have come to look at my AC unit, they are now recommending a 3rd estimate. This does not make sense. If they only contract with reputable companies why do 3 separate individuals have to come to my home. I work two jobs and have a young child. It is a huge inconvenience to not be able to get this matter settled. I don't understand why it is very easy to pay for the contract but such a hassle to get things repaired.
I will not be renewing my contract and I do not recommend this company to anyone. It is inhumane to tell a customer to purchase a fan to deal with this extreme heat when the AC unit could be repaired in less than a day. If I had known better and done a company review I would have definitely used a different warranty company.

I needed to have my dryer repaired, so American Home Shield sent out a technician to fix it. He showed up exactly on time when he said he was going to, calling 30 minutes before to let us know that he was on his way. It was really nice because he knew exactly what he was doing - he was very polite, professional, and great. He did the work quickly and the appliance has been working fine ever since. The claims representatives, on the other hand, were very nice, helpful and professional too. They asked me if I was calling to make a claim and what it was on, and they were very kind when I told them it was an appliance. It was exactly how they told me it was going to be -- I was going to pay the fee and then the job was going to get done. This is the third warranty that I've had and I would throw the other two under a bus as they were horrible!

The service was perfect. The contractor came at the time specified and resolved the problem in a timely manner. After the resolution the contractor explained everything that he had to do. The contractor was extremely clean. Put down clothes on the carpet and clean up everything that they used. Customer service was excellent as always. I have no complaints.

We’ve had American Home Shield for years so we always call them to see who they would send as a representative to do the service and then we maintain a maintenance contract. I submitted a claim to them over a year ago and the service was terrible. The company they sent was from Corpus Christi, Texas which is 90 miles away from our place. The gentleman that came in to do the maintenance contract was under us personally and not under American Home Shield. He said that the unit had to be replaced. In trying to have it replaced, it became a fiasco and the company themselves brought the wrong unit in then they overcharged us.
They charged us for taking the equipment away which was under American Home Shield coverage. They always had an excuse on the length of time that they would do it. I kept calling American Home Shield but every time you call them you get a new representative that’s going to talk to you and they turn it over to the other department that’s supposed to contact with the service people they’re sending to us. It went on for almost a month. We found another AHS contractor that’s as far away but from a different area and they serviced us this year and we’ve had no problems with them. They were fantastic so we got our maintenance contract with them. They did not have to contact AHS because it was under our service. It's very good for our spring maintenance checkup.
We also have another property in Uvalde, Texas that we had serviced. Our AC unit went out and they had to replace the motor. The company AHS sent was fantastic. Overall, the only problem is with the company from Corpus Christi Texas, the others are just fine. That one specific experience was horrific and pathetic but it's not necessarily AHS, it was the way they handled the contractor.

We live in a very rural area and are dependent upon our well and heat pump for the necessity of water and the comfort of heat and air conditioning. Each of these, if damaged, or if needed to be replaced, would not be possible for their high price tag. As a homeowner and family man, the possibility of their failure places my family at risk. American Home Shield however, not only provides the means for repair and/or replacement, it gives the entire family a sense of ease and comfort if that issue should arise. Thank you American Home Shield.

When I had a problem with my AC a month ago, I sent American Home Shield an email and they tell me that they're gonna get hold of whoever is gonna be doing the job. Those people get a hold of me and they tell me when they’ll be able to make it. The contractor came, checked it out and said it had to be changed. But ordering the parts took a few days because of the flood in Texas. They were friendly and very professional with their work.

I have had nothing but problems since my AC broke. I called to get it fixed and found out American Home Shield never put my name on the contract and when I asked about any fees I would need to pay the lady assured me I would only pay the $75 deductible. When the AC guy came out I ended up paying $200 because apparently the contract says they don't cover freon. This was news to me since I never received a contract because of their mistake. When talking with them to try and fix this issue, they were very unhelpful and insisted it was my fault for not reading the contract. If they didn't make a mistake and not send me one I wouldn't be in this situation right now. They were supposed to contact me again after discussing this with them and it's now 3 days later and I can't get a hold of anyone. This is a ridiculous situation and now I have to pay for their mistakes. I highly recommend that you do not use them for your warranty company!

Where do I begin... I have been without a washing machine for 20 days. AHS was very prompt sending the first service company to diagnose the problem. The technician from Fidelity Appliance Services in Las Vegas had to come back with a new transmission; however, when he changed the transmission, the machine continued to stop during the spin cycle and smelled like it was burning. Unfortunately, the technician said that the motor also needed to be changed. He came back the following day with a new motor. However, the new motor did not do the trick. The machine continued to smell and stopped during the spin cycle. I called them back and also called AHS to let them know this technician did not know what was wrong with my machine. She said they would send a new "senior" technician (from the same company) to check the machine. I had to wait two days before they could schedule the appointment.
This "senior" technician spent two hours in my house and took the whole machine apart. He happily told me he had solved the problem; according to him, the machine was going through the complete cycle without any problem. I asked what the problem was and he said it was too complicated to explain. I put one load of clothes and it ran through one cycle without a problem. I put the second load in, and about 5 minutes into the cycle, I started to smell that wonderful acrid smell again. The machine started beeping and stopped working. I called Fidelity and they told me I needed to call AHS for a "recall." This is protocol, I was told. If one vendor can't fix it, they can just give up, and AHS can keep calling vendors for as long as they wish until one can fix it, or my house burns down in the process (whichever comes first, I guess).
AHS had Home Appliance Services 24 7 in Las Vegas contracted as the second vendor to come see my machine. They promptly scheduled the appointment (after I spent 15 minutes on the phone explaining the issues with this machine). The technician came and tested the machine for one full cycle. It went through the whole cycle, but continued to smell. I told him to wait until I loaded the machine with some clothes to make sure it didn't stop again; I was of course worried because the machine smelled like something was burning. The technician said he had no time to do that; he had four more calls, so he had to leave. I had no choice but to let him go. I put a load of clothes in, and it stopped again.
This time the machine gave me an F4 error code and again smelled terrible. I called the service company right away (5 minutes after the technician left) and explained that the machine still wasn't working. He refused to come back! Now, protocol is that AHS will not send a different vendor until they get a diagnosis from this last vendor. I have called Home Appliances Services 24 7 to make sure they send the diagnosis; the machine is not working!!! They responded that they would, but they would take their sweet time to write up a diagnosis because they were busy. They refused to call the diagnosis in until the report was written up, although AHS only requires a phone call from them, not a written report. AHS has failed to contract a service company that can fix my machine and could care less about the fact that I've been without a washing machine for two weeks now.
My only recourse was to wait for AHS to get the diagnosis and to get back to me and tell me which vendor (third one) they will send. According to AHS, they can go through all their vendors in Las Vegas until they find the one that can figure out how to fix my washing machine. Tired of waiting, I decided to call their customer service department. They amazingly called back and after hearing my situation, they immediately placed a "recall" without having to wait for a diagnosis. I've scheduled an appointment with the third vendor, and the saga continues...
The third vendor said he has to change the transmission, motor, and motherboard, for the second time. AHS says the vendor has not reported the diagnosis. The vendor says he called it in the same day he came to see the machine. When calling AHS they continue to tell me that they need a diagnosis. If you ask to speak to a supervisor, they will never get on the phone or call you back. Wait time on the phone with AHS is always 30 to 45 minutes. Wait time for a repair technician is always 24 to 48 hours, and they give you a window of time; this means I have to sit home and wait for four hours until they show up. I've had other simple repairs and even a cooktop replaced with AHS without any problems. I had issues with my air conditioner, but after several trips from the technician my air conditioner was fixed. AHS is great if you need a quick fix, but if you have an old appliance and a more complicated issue, good luck to you.

AHS is a good service only if what you need repaired does not need to be tended to immediately. We had some electrical issues that were fixed fine. Now for more immediate repairs: AHS says that once you place a service request, the company assigned the repair must contact you within 24 hours and then come out to address the problem within 48 hours. That gives the repair company a 3 day window, which is fairly reasonable. But... weekends don't count! So you can put in a service request Thursday and not have someone come to address the problem until Tuesday. That's fine for more minor repairs... but not ok when the toilet in your 1BR/1BA condo is completely broken and unusable. Or when the A/C unit in the middle of string of days in the mid 90's isn't draining and therefore causing large amounts of water to pool inside.
You are stuck with the company assigned to your repair, so if they can't come right away, you're SOL. They also will not give you a list of "approved companies" that have sooner availability. You either have to wait until the assigned company can come out or you have to pay out of pocket for a different one (which completely negates the usefulness of a home warranty). And good luck calling AHS. You will be on hold on average an hour. My shortest wait time was about 25 minutes, longest was 90. Needless to say, once our contract is done we will no longer be using AHS.

I recently purchased an AHS policy with the purchase of a home. I made my first service call for the HVAC system. AHS never dispatched anyone and no one ever followed up with me despite multiple calls. I ended up servicing the system myself. The next week, the washing machine went. AHS dispatched Sears and I paid the deductible for the service call, but Sears never reported its findings to AHS. Sears claims to have done this, but AHS tells me there is no record of it.
AHS then told me I had to have someone else come out to evaluate the washer and pay another deductible to the new appliance repair company. That person was a no show for the appointment. AHS told me that person would contact me to reschedule. I have not heard from that person and it has been over a week. Wait times are at least 30 minutes to get through to someone on the phone, but can take up to an hour. I have been assured multiple times that these matters are being escalated and that someone will call me back. I have never heard back from anyone.
Updated on 08/14/2015: I recently posted about poor service for my HVAC and washing machine. It appears that my post has been updated to 'resolved'. IT IS NOT RESOLVED!!! Just because AHS sent me a partial reimbursement does not take away from the fact that the service was horrible. Just because you decide to pay part of what you are contractually obligated to does not make up for the hours and hours or wait times, poor contractor selection and the disgraceful follow up. AHS, if you want this removed, call me!

My most recent claim with American Home Shield was for my dishwasher. The first time I called about the dishwasher, I told the representative what was happening. They told me that they're going to send out the request. The first company that they sent out, they didn't ask us for the copay. The people from the first company called within a day or two then came out a couple of days later. They had to order a part and come back to fix it, which they did.
A couple of weeks later, we were still having the same problem - the water wasn't going down in the dishwasher. American Home Shield sent out the same people. Apparently, they found more junk in the dishwasher so they cleaned it out again. And then, we started having the same problem again. The second time that I called about the same problem, they sent the technician again but we still didn't have to pay for it. The technician came out and emptied out the clog again. However, the same problem was still continuing.
So we called American Home Shield again and requested for another company to come out. They told us that we had to pay another copay for this second company. It took several days for the second company to call. Then, when the guy from the second company came and started dismantling the dishwasher, he found that the hose that was connected to the drainage was kinked which was causing the water not to go down. The kink in the hose probably happened when the technician from the first company pushed the dishwasher back into the hole. Also, the guy from the second company found screws in the hose. But we couldn't prove that the first company did it. Fortunately after the second company came out and repair it, the machine has been working perfectly.

I have American Home Shield on two homes, our primary home and also a rental property. We had an air conditioning problem in our rental property. I got an email from the renter saying that the upstairs was about 10 degrees warmer than the rest of the house. So I called American Home Shield and explained the problem. They then assigned a company and contacted them. I gave the company the phone numbers of my renter so they could schedule it at a convenient time for both. They went out to the house and determined that the Freon in the system was low then proceeded to add it, and it’s working fine.
I’ve only had one bad experience and it wasn’t with them -- it was with one of their technicians/mechanics/service companies American Home Shield had sent. The guy was a thief. He lied and tried to hustle me for more money. He promised it would get it fixed, and put in the same horsepower disposal for an extra hundred bucks. I didn't want to pay him and wanted a replacement of exactly what I got. Then he called American Home Shield back and lied to them so they rejected the claim. I recommended to AHS that they strike him from their list of providers and hopefully, they did so. I’d still recommend it to anybody who’s either a homeowner or rental property owner. It’s one of the best deals I've ever made.

We've only had AHS out twice - once when our water heater went out and the other when our sink had a leak. And so far, our experience with them has been pretty good. The contractors they've sent out were able to solve the problem. The only thing that I didn't like about the water heater is the guy who worked on it got a water heater that all of the connections were on the opposite side of where it was supposed to go. So he charged me extra for welding up the connections and moving the pipes over to where the connections were. It cost an extra $230. However, if he bought the water heater that fit properly, it wouldn't cost me anything and he could've put it in. It would have been much easier for everybody all the way around.
I have told AHS about this. However, they didn't inform me at the time when I was complaining that I could've taken the cash equivalent. I could've had it installed myself and get the water heater that I wanted with the right connections on the correct side. I've only known about this when I talked to some people. So next time, that's what I'll do. I'll pick it up myself and I'm not going through the same experience again.

After submitting my negative review of American Home Shield to ConsumerAffairs.com and sending an email directly to American Home Shield, I was contacted by someone in the publicity department that requested I provide them with a copy of my paid receipt for the repair of my dryer. Within hours of emailing my receipt to American Home Shield I received a call apologizing for what happened and advising me that I would be receiving a check within 7 to 10 days to reimburse me for the cost of the repair.
Nobody is perfect, and 100% customer satisfaction is a wonderful but unrealistic goal. While I had a bad experience with the company, and spent way too much time on hold trying to resolve the issue, in the end, American Home Shield stood behind their warranty and reimbursed me for the repair I had made. Kudos to them for doing the right thing.

The worst customer service I've ever dealt with. I became a member in May 2015. I put in my first service call in July. Their website says 24/7 service. Useless service would be more accurate. The representative that took my call on Saturday told me a washer/dryer repair company would call me on Monday to schedule an appointment. No one called. I called back on Tuesday to complain. A new complaint was filed. I was told I'd hear from a repair company by the end of the day. They lied. I called back on Wednesday and spent a total of 1 and a 1/2 hours on hold waiting for customer service. I was told the first available appoint was the following Monday. I called a local appliance repair company and they were at my house within 2 hours and repaired the dryer. Total cost $275.00. I canceled my policy and demanded a full refund.

So far, I have no complaints with American Home Shield. The latest claim I submitted with them was about plumbing issues. The pipe that leads to the outdoor water was leaking and I had a new faucet put in the laundry room sink because it was broken. Rep was quick with the repair. He checked the other little faucets if they all were okay and I was happy with what he did.

We're very pleased with AHS so far. The washing machine at our tenant's home was our most recent claim. A very nice guy came out. He thought he fixed it, but a week later it's broken again. So I just called A&L Appliance this morning and they have the parts, and they're gonna fix it tomorrow. All-in-all, AHS people are cooperative, willing to help, and they don't leave you dangling.

AC unit stopped functioning in May. AHS assigned the service to their local contractor in the Cincinnati area, Heating and Cooling Experts, LLC. They diagnosed the problem as a Freon leak and recharged the unit. After a week, the AC unit died again. This time they said they have to rebuild the unit. After a week and a half of no AC, the unit was repaired. Lasted 2 weeks and died again. H&C Experts replaced the unit this time and we had to pay for the Freon again. The new unit failed after 2 months. It is ironic the contractor calls themselves "Experts".
I insisted AHS send a different company this time. They assigned the work order to Fast Response, who took all of 3 days to respond, which in their simple mind must be a fast response. The tech did not show up in the 4-hour window, claims he did get to the property a bit late. None of us, including our guard dog(!), heard or saw him. After 3 service calls ($210) and 2 Freon recharges ($860), we are still without the AC. AHS are not bothered and continue to provide their robotic responses. I have had AHS for 8 years. It is a pity, I did not need their service until now. They are one pathetic outfit.

We had some issues with our air conditioner. We phoned it in and the rep I talked to over the phone was very helpful. We weren't sure if I was calling about the right thing and she took care of my issue right away. They had to change contractors because the first guy that they said was going to do the work never contacted me. I called and left messages for him and he never returned my calls and we never hooked up. So I called American Home Shield back and I told them that. They apologized and eventually a very courteous guy contacted me and then came and fixed the AC. I tell people about AHS all the time.

When we purchased our home, we were told about AHS by our real estate agent. This will be our second year having the warranty and I honestly have no idea why I renewed it. In theory, I like the peace of mind that comes with the idea of having this warranty, if something breaks it will only be the $100 service fee. However, from my experience, it has only been in theory. Getting any issued fixed has never been easy, between the long wait times to speak to AHS and then the highly unprofessional companies which they send out.
This time around it is my central air conditioning that I am having issues with. Last year after 3 separate companies, my system received a band-aid fix basically. This year we are on day 3 of the house being 85 to 90 degrees. It is amazing that AHS won't stand by their advertising and do the right thing by their customers. While I understand from a business point that replacing a system is a large cost so band aiding the problems is a better financial option for AHS it is definitely not even close to being the best option when it comes to customer satisfaction or being eco-friendly. Our house is never actually cool in the summer or warm in the winter due to a very old system that doesn't work properly. But since "some" air is coming out then, according the both the contractors and AHS reps, it is working as intended.
In my opinion AHS would fair much better in the long run doing what they promise than just worrying about their bottom line per customer. For every 1 customer that may actually need a large service, you would be looking at many being referred that may never even have a service call. I really hope that AHS either starts standing by their product or trains their sales representatives to be more forthcoming about how the programs actually works. If not, then hopefully real estate agents start recommending a better option for consumers.

We had three claims with AHS within a matter of weeks and I didn't talk to any reps during claim submission since it was all automated. One was the motor in the back of the freezer, the other one was the hot water tank and the last was the drain in the basement. The people that they sent have been outstanding not just this time but many times. They were very kind, helpful and knowledgeable. It's not like the people that we had to work for us before we had AHS - they were more interested in spending more money than fixing the problem. In fact, we had somebody from a different company here to look at the drain in the basement and told us that they would have to dig up the basement and it would cost us $4,800... and he wasn't even here for 20 minutes.

We had a backed up drain and a broken pipe so we called American Home Shield. They gave me a number and also had a contact number for a plumbing company who we called the next day. They came out, completed the job, and did an excellent job. Appliance's working fine since the repair. We've always had excellent service from them. The follow-up calls when getting the number and getting everything organized and getting repairs have also been excellent. The people they’ve sent out have been very helpful.
Probably one of the biggest things that I really respect and was a true help happened last summer when we had problems with our air conditioning. They were so overbooked in the area at that particular time that we had contact with an air conditioning company that serviced our air conditioner prior to me going onto American Home Shield. They are not tied with American Home Shield but they allowed me because they were booked so much in the area.
They said, “Look, we understand your problem. It’s so hot. We will let you go ahead and contact the people that you had used in the past as long as they contact us.” That I appreciated because under normal circumstances, they would have contacted a heating and air place and they would have come out. But because they were so overbooked and they didn’t want us to be in discomfort, they said, “Just give us the name and have them contact and we will go ahead and let them fix it.” I appreciated that everything was taken care of.

The claims representatives have always dealt with me very nicely. Some of the contractors have been really good. Some of them have not been as good but they did the job. The knob to turn my Viking stove/range broke. American Home Shield sent their agent to look at it. The first agent tells me, if they approve the replacement of the knob, I need to come back and put it in. That's their policy. Next thing I know, their agent puts in a bogus report saying my knob broke from force and not from wear and tear. I was really angry at this so I asked for a second opinion. The second opinion comes back with the same opinion - the knob that turns the stove on and off. If it breaks in the middle on the inside, that's not from wear and tear. That's what I got from American Home Shield.
The knob really don't cost much. It's the principle here. For a company like American Home Shield to require their agents to bring the knob back if it's broken, the agent rather report that it's broken under a term that's not covered. This way they won't need to return to your property with the knob. I have asked for a supervisor to contact me on this issue but no one has contacted me in several days now.

I received a free policy with the purchase of a home in Tucson AZ from the realtor. I have found American Home Shield to be very difficult to do business with and the coverage to be nearly worthless. First when you call, you are put on hold for at least a minimum of 30 minutes to report a claim. If you want to speak to someone about service, the wait times are in excess of 45-60 minutes. When they have told me they would call me back because I have not been able to get resolution after being on hold for that long, the call back does not occur. They work extremely hard to find a reason for the repair not to be covered under the warranty.
My last call was on an air conditioner unit. They claimed the clean out of the unit was not covered in spite of the fact that the policy included normal maintenance. Then they had their service tech give me a bid for $956.00. I called a different repair service that cleaned out my entire unit and the ducts for $175.00. Their contracted vendors take advantage of the referrals, and AHS does not stand behind their contracts. I had just renewed the policy that I originally had received free and because of this have been trying to cancel the policy that I paid for another year. I have made 4 calls, on all I have held longer than 60 minutes. I was promised a call back and never got it. Then 4 weeks later got an email that my policy had been cancelled but no comment on a refund. I have now been on hold again for over 57 minutes to try to get my refund. Do not do business with this company.
Hi Vicki, Our apologies for any confusion or inconvenience the contract verbiage has caused. However, routine/normal maintenance is not covered per the home warranty. Any work done by the vendor that is not covered by AHS is at retail value with the vendor's costs. We regret to hear that this matter led you to cancelling your home warranty with us. Your feedback is valuable as we will use it to better our products and services.

This is one of the worst cheating warranty companies. My washer has a problem, making loud noise. The serve guy, who was a good man, examined and said there is an axle problem which will need to be repaired, and that it will deteriorate. After two days of no followup from AHS, I contacted them to learn that the case is closed as there is no mechanical problem as the washer is functional. According to them, the washer should stop working! Some of the agencies that AHS sends run a racket to cheat customers. I had a plumbing experience after the fierce winter where the plumber who came was a cheat. Firstly AHS said that they will not cover the problem. I told him what could be the problem but he ignored it and wanted to try all expensive approaches. After 3 visits, $300 each (using expensive snake-cameras, etc.), he did what I asked him to - pour hot water in the drain that leaves the house, and the problem was solved.
In fact he also wanted to lay a new drain pipe and gave me a quote for ($8,000)! These rats that AHS hires are bloody cheats. Since you have no control who they send, you are stuck with these rats. So better is to get rid of AHS and use online review sites like Angie's list, BBB, etc., or businesses through referral from friends/family, and get your job done. These are more economical than paying AHS the yearly premium + service fee + then paying (mostly the rat you let into your house through AHS) for the problems which AHS will conveniently not cover. Bottomline: Don't even consider AHS.

I've had a fair experience with American Home Shield. It took them a while to answer and get a service tech out because they don't take local. I live in Titusville, Florida which is at the space center. They have to call someone from the center of the state to get a contractor for my area. It took them a couple of days longer. I could've called the local appliance tech and have them reimbursed. But I'd recommend it any time to a friend because it is a good deal. These service contracts work because you will never know when you will lose an appliance.

American Home Shield is one of the worst company I dealt with in my lifetime. You will spend long time with customer service. The service man they have sent took many follow up and never showed up. Another person was sent and provided wrong diagnoses. A third person was supposed to be sent and never was sent. Three months later and my washer is still not working and the glass of the oven is still broken and AHS is still playing games. Be careful of the AHS. They are only interested in collecting premiums.

This is our third house where we’ve had American Home Shield. It started off with the house that we bought that had it and we thought, “Well, that works well so we’ll continue that.” Submitting a claim to them is easy, especially online. And I’m impressed at how quickly the technicians and everybody respond. Most of the time the same day, they will call and get set up for an appointment. They all seem to know what they're doing since the quality of the repairs they've done has been really good.

The toilet all of a sudden kept draining the water out, running and running, and my pump kept kicking on. We ended up having to shut the water off so it wouldn't wreck our pump. Then we called and AHS sent some people out and they said we have a cracked whatever, which is no surprise. This toilet is like 20 years old. They said we got to have a new toilet. Apparently, AHS dictate to the person they designate to be our repair people what to get. They ordered it, got it and came back to put it in. It's been fine since the repair. I would recommend AHS. They've been real good about sending people out.

I've been with American Home Shield for almost 30 years in 3 homes. But now I have a problem where they replaced a motor. They attached the fan from the broken motor to it and it worked for a month, but right now the fan is wobbling and banging. The AC company, Three Brothers, is telling me American Home Shield will not fix it because it's not broken and is still rotating and that the house is still cooling. But the banging is through the whole house, the whole unit is vibrating. I want it fixed but I'm not getting an answer, and I've been waiting for a week. If they get this resolved, I would be really thrilled.

My nephew has had good experiences with American Home Shield as a home warranty provider so they recommended it to us when we bought our house. I've used it only once and it's been good so far. Submitting a claim has been very easy; took me only 5 minutes and the technician they sent was really good. He let me know exactly what was wrong with the unit. But at that time he didn't have all the tools to fix it. So he put Freon in the AC till he got back the next day, which was awesome because it was 100 degrees. They took care of everything and I didn't have to worry about it. I would recommend them to anybody.

We have American Home Shield (AHS) home warranty. We called because we could hear an unusual noise coming from one of our heat and air vents. The service was dispatched with North Little Rock Heat and Air. The technician came to our home, looked at the vent and stated what he thought the issue could be but that he was not comfortable getting in the attic and he would send someone else out that would confirm and would have the part. We never hear anything but a month or so later we get an invoice from AHS for the call. I called their customer service department and told them he didn't do anything so I was not going to pay. They stated that it would go on my credit report. The supervisor stated that the $75 is due before he makes the diagnosis even if it is a bad diagnosis.

I am not sure how anyone can give this company even one star. This have been the most difficult and unresponsive company that I ever experienced. I had a water stoppage in the Kitchen sink. Called for serviced. Got a company who is called (C&P plumbing, Inc) 3/30/15 and reported Unstopped kitchen sink after they snaked the pipe. Few days later notice water leaking under the kitchen in the basement. Called AHS and C&P came back and indicated no leak caused by the pipe. Leak continued.
AHS sent a new contractor 7-15-15 (JED Plumbing & Gas) who indicated "Kitchen sink pipe is broken" -- pipe is leaking under ground since contractor snaked pipe 3-30-15. I have been unable to use my kitchen sink since this; calling AHS and waiting for call back that never happened. They just do not care, not willing to authorize JED company to fix the problem and the C&P company supervisor is not answering - not reachable. If I call a contractor the AHS will not cover. They are not making C&P accountable to fix the issue and not willing to authorize JED to do the job. End result, I am unable to use my kitchen sink since 3/30/15. Still waiting for a call back as of this morning after holding for 1 hr. How can anyone give the AHS any stars!!

It was caput and they made me pay a surcharge for the stainless steel finish when they were replacing the same thing. If I was replacing like a white one and wanted stainless steel as an upgrade, I could see that I would have to pay a surcharge. Nonetheless, everything has been satisfactory and I'm renewing my membership with American Home Shield.

Our shower was leaking, the pipe had come loose from the drain and we put it in for a service request with AHS. The process to get the service request in was very easy. We just went right on to the website and clicked what it was. I got an email immediately after saying that the company that was gonna handle it was gonna call me, and she called within 2 hours. We set that up and the nice guy came and told me exactly what the problem was. He had to run to the hardware store, came back, and it was done within a few hours. Since the repair everything seems to be doing very well. The only thing was we got this bill from American Home Shield for the service fee, but I paid them directly. I prefer AHS over a different home warranty because of their quality and price. But their reps should be trained better. They don't know the areas of the country the way they should. When I talk to somebody up in the northeast, and I'm talking about Florida homes, they were telling me that they don't guarantee water softeners unless they were in the basement. There's no basement in Florida. It's just stupid. So I've had issues over the years. But we just keep AHS because I have a good relationship with the folks that are the rep in this area.
on every single listing I have, and I write it in every single contract for a buyer because I don't want to get a call a week after the closing that "my AC broke." I just say "Call 1-800" and that works for me. So it's a two-way street. AHS needs to work on the quality of contractors here in Florida.
