I've been with AHS for 20 years at least. I'm a real estate agent since 1981 and they're always who I've recommended but lately my clients just said they've had a bad experience as they didn’t cover something. One person said their friend had to take them to court to cover a furniture or an air conditioner. With my most recent claim for my toilets they had to come back three times to fix the same problems. Their reputation and service have gotten bad so I have not been happy.

My previous experience with contractors that American Home Shield sent has been pretty good, until this one time that we submitted our claim for an AC repair. The technician showed up just for ten minutes and my wife just asked him one question and he said, “I’m late for next job, I need to go”. He is pretty impatient, he keeps telling my wife, “Well, let me finish my job”. It was pretty bad attitude. Then we also asked him, "So what if you fail to fix the problem?" He did not say anything, he said "I need to go". That is it and I cannot believe it. But overall, I'm happy with AHS.

I had a problem with my air conditioner and submitting my claim was easy. Although most of the stuff was done online, but when I had to talk to their representative, it was positive. The contractors have been wonderful. I have maybe one bad experience, but that was last year. I haven't had any more issues with the problem and when I do, they come right back out to fix it with no service charge. I really like and enjoy American Home Shield. It's been three years and I appreciate them, that's for sure.

We had a cable break on our garage door opener a couple of months ago and American Home Shield did come on the scheduled appointment and were able to fix it without any trouble. However, we had to wait a day because the service providers were all booked up. But other than that, everybody's been responsive and always prompt. In most cases, they're able to fix. At one time we had to have our garage door fully replaced because he couldn't get it to work with a repair. So he was very quick to determine that it needed to be replaced and he did it right then and there.

We're relatively satisfied with AHS. I don't think we've had anything of a serious nature like an AC requirement and we do a routine service because we're out here in the desert. If at such point our AC is going to die, I don't know if we'll even go to American Home Shield even though our air conditioning is covered by it. We'll just go with our service provider that we have since we have a contract with them.

They said it was covered, but my share would be $900. After they told me the price, there was nothing else to discuss because I didn’t have $900 that I would have to pay upfront. Why am I paying for American Home Shield if I got to pay $900 to get my air conditioning fixed?

We had a plumbing issue with the sinks plugged up in the kitchen so I called American Home Shield. Getting a name of someone that would be coming out was easy, but the problem was that they couldn’t come out until the following Monday and it was Wednesday. We just brought my daughter’s baby home from the hospital, so I called AHS back and asked if we could use a different company that might be able to come out sooner, and the rep wasn’t able to do that. She said that with my contract, the company has to give them 48 hours before they can use a different one, so I ended up paying for a private company to unplug the drain.

We also had a fan that went out and an AC problem. The AC people that came to fix it took a long time to come out too. Days went by, and they came and sprayed a sealant in the unit due to a possible leak. It lasted only for about six days, then they came again and said it needed a new coil since there was a leak in it. It was bad timing because it was right before a holiday weekend, and it took a week before we got our AC restored. I had to buy a tiny air conditioning unit that’s portable since my daughter has preeclampsia so it was a high risk pregnancy, and I hated it. However, the first time when we had a fan incident, it was a good experience since everybody that AHS sent out was nice, on time, and they ended up replacing my fan because they were not able to fix it even though they tried, but the two major problems I had (AC unit, plumbing issue) didn’t work out as well.

We called in and told American Home Shield that the hot water heater was leaking, and they told us who to call. We called them and the plumber came over. I had turned off the water to the hot water heater before that but he could see that it was in fact leaking. He checked some other things and found that where the water is supposed to go, it comes back in to the unit. He called in and told AHS the things that were needed. He had in the truck the same type of unit and was able to take the old one away and put in place a new one in one day, which was great, rather than having him come back again. He did a nice job and the unit's going very well. This experience was very good, but other experiences we had was poor like when we had to call somebody on our own and then that person looked and told us what was wrong. We had to call somebody else to come in and do their work.

Submitting the claim to AHS by automation is great, but sometimes I would like to get a hold of somebody in person to talk to because I can say things in more detail than over the phone which just gives options, but it works great. A main control for the air conditioning was our most recent claim with them and they repaired it. We had another claim prior which was the controller unit for the heater element. We’ve never had a problem with American Home Shield and it’s been great, but the people that they sent out when the heat had gone this past fall tried to get us to purchase a $9,000 replacement. They got Home Shield up to 1300 of it. I’m a caregiver of my father who’s on a fixed income and he can’t take on something like that. They wanted to charge us $900 for a complete change out for a $250 or $400 fix. AHS needs to watch who they deal with.

I had a busted faucet and it was leaking, so I needed it to be replaced. I had a diagnosis done and already knew what the problem was. When I called American Home Shield, they advised me that they don’t cover it, and I said “Okay”, but I had already set it up over the phone. When the contractor called, I told him that it’s not covered, but I only needed the faucet replaced since I already know what the leak was. So he came out and replaced the faucet which I bought at Home Depot. I paid him $95 because I thought it was off contract - I didn’t realize anything different. I thought I was asking the contractor to do the job as a plumber, not part of American Home Shield.

So a few days later, I received a billing mail from American Home Shield for $75. When I asked them what the bill was for, they responded with, “Well, you have to pay for the contract” that I used. They said because I used the contractor that called the house, I had to pay them $75 in addition to the $95. We went back and forth on it, and I didn’t understand the rationale for that because to me I paid twice and they continued to tell me I had to pay the bill. American Home Shield have direct access to my account, so I imagined that they took the money out of my account because I no longer received another bill. That didn't make me feel very well. My husband could’ve changed it and that could’ve saved the problem because he did start to change it but he had to go to work and I need my kitchen. It cost me almost an additional $100 for no reason.

This is the first incident that I had a problem with American Home Shield. It was just a fluke, and they’ve always been great to me. They’ve always come out, done what they were supposed to do, I paid $75 and my problem was solved within a day, so I’m grateful for that. I've been with them for three years now and I'd still recommend them.

Submitting the claim was easy. I called and AHS gave me the name of the contractor. However, getting the work order taken care off and expedited got mixed up. The contractor never called me. I had to call American Home Shield back to find out what happened to the repair request. I got in contact with the contractor and he was excellent. He came out yesterday but didn't have the part that he needed on his truck so he came back this morning at around 9:30 and repaired our kitchen faucet.

It's been an excellent experience dealing with American Home Shield. I have never had a problem when calling in for a work order, in dealing with the contractors and so forth. I definitely would recommend them to somebody else. I have talked to a few friends and told them to have American Home Shield. None of them had it and they thought I'm not getting enough of it. I tried if it was a good service for a homeowner and compared to paying the $75.00 fee, it may cost about $100 or even more for some problems without it. I had a problem with the air conditioning unit when I came back from vacation last year and once they found out the problem, they repaired it. I haven't had any more problems with the AC since then.

I don’t understand why a contractor would come to work on a project and not have correct tools to work with. They are supposed to be coming back this afternoon to finish the work but I have not heard from them, so I’m getting disappointed. The other claim we had was for one of our hot water heaters. The repairmen have been here about four or five times already but still, the issue has not been corrected and I’m very dissatisfied with that service. I recently filed a claim with American Home Shield because my water heater went out. Submitting the claim wasn't a problem, but the first company that they sent out told me that they couldn't get the water heater safely out of the attic. I live in Texas and the water heaters in our homes are up in the attic. I mentioned to him that that was the second water heater that's been in this house, so obviously the first person was able to get it out and put a new one in. He wasn't able to repair it but I still paid a service charge of $125.

I called American Home Shield about it and they said I needed to get a second opinion. So they sent a different company out and the young man was very nice. He said that he and his partner could get the work done and we scheduled a day for them to do it. But he told me that they had to put a different type of water heater in because the one that was up there was called a 50-gallon short and he said that they needed to put a 50-gallon tall in. I questioned why and he said it would have to do with the fact that the new 50-gallon shorts are wider than the old ones and it wouldn't fit up there. I certainly understood this so I agreed for them to put the tall in.

Unfortunately, American Home Shield only pays for the water heater and a few other things. They had to configure a lot of stuff up there, so bottom line it cost me 600 bucks of my own money plus the service charge that I had already paid to get the new water heater put in. And it took a week to complete everything. I'm a realtor and I've had some good experiences with American Home Shield. In fact, when we bought this house we took an American Home Shield warranty and absolutely loved it even if it was a little bit more expensive than the rest of them. I went with another company before to save a few dollars and it was a nightmare. So I went back to American Home Shield. This year I've filed three claims with them where two have been nightmares and one has been okay.

I made my decision to purchase a "combo" systems and appliances warranty from AHS on the basis of the reviews I read on this site and I can tell you that something is wrong. At this point I'm pretty irritated and I'd like to explain why: I have spent at least 6 hours on the phone with AHS at this point (totaling well over a dozen calls) and boy do they take their time to respond. My last call was exactly 2 hours and 26 painful minutes of which I was on hold for probably 95 % of that time before I finally had to hang up and decided it would be more than fair to write a review. It's really frustrating and disrespectful to tell people "I'm just going to put you on hold for a minute," only to leave someone hanging up or stall you to the point where you give up. If you ask for a supervisor their strategy is to just put you on hold indefinitely. Read on...

Here's what's happened: A major problem was discovered with my furnace and the technician (not from AHS) said for liability reasons that he would have to shut the furnace off. He also informed me that I'd have to call the gas company so I did and he also agreed (guy from the gas company) that there were issues so he actually had to shut off the gas line to the house for liability reasons as he explained. My next step was to contact AHS (for the first time to have them fix it). I informed them at that time that I no longer have gas to heat the house, or to cook and I'd appreciate them sending someone soon.

The first contractor AHS sent was entirely clueless and said someone else would need to come to make a "further diagnosis." This was after I paid him my deductible of course. The second guy (despite multiple calls to the contractor and AHS) did not come until three days later and while he 'appeared' to know more he was basically rude, lacking the tools he needed to properly confirm/make repairs and clearly not up to the job. Apparently, AHS doesn't care about the quality of the contractors they hire. In the meantime, I've had to speak with two private contractors (people I got through personal contacts) who clearly explained the problem and also showed evidence of the issue via a camera tool that they inserted into the furnace to show what was damaged.

Yes! - I've gone to pains to explain all of this to AHS again and again and this is the predicament I find myself in. I'm now going on 7 days without heat, hot water or a stove (it runs on gas too) so I will quite literally have to move home or hire someone and pay out of pocket to fix the problem. After I submit this review I'm going to call the Virginia Insurance Corporation to make a complaint and the better business bureau.

Here's my advice. Do yourself a big favor and do not do business with this company. All they do is stall and stall and stall only to send incompetent contractors. If I could give them a lower rating I most definitely would and they would certainly deserve it. The fact of the matter is that they really don't care despite the fact that it is an obvious priority that has already been clearly diagnosed. Now you've got the full story. My advice - save yourself the warranty cost and use it toward repairs to your house as they come.

Making a claim with American Home Shield was an easy process. My only concern is how many times they have to come out on an appliance. I was going to call them today because I've had Freons recharged this year and last year and it's not the norm. It seems to indicate a leak but they fill it and then go. This has been a problem and I wanted to talk to them about it because there's no reason for me to recharge that AC unit in 2 years in a row. That doesn't sound right. Other than that, the folks they send out are always different. I understand that the agencies rotate and I just want to make sure that they're getting top quality so we'll have top quality as well.

I like to be able to talk to somebody about what's happening, not just punching buttons and hitting submit. My experience with them has been usually good, but right now, it's not going well. They were supposed to be getting in touch with the plumber. We did it for weeks. I tried to call them yesterday, and they said they were going to connect me with somebody because the person had already been to the property and nothing has happened yet. I couldn't tell if the call connected so I waited on hold. Usually, they'd give advice and nothing's happening so I hung up, called the plumber and left a message. I'm still waiting to hear from both of them. They should tell me at least whether the repairs will be covered by my contract.

Air conditioner broken... again. Previous experiences with the contractor sent out from AHS in the past was miserable. They were incompetent, rude and irresponsible. So we told AHS we didn't want that particular contractor to work on our A/C again. This contractor was apparently the ONLY one locally that worked for AHS. One of the customer service people was nice enough to QUIETLY tell me "You know, if we don't have someone in your area, you can pick your own contractor, pay for it yourself and AHS will reimburse you." I asked her when someone was going to tell me that and she said, "We don't normally offer that information." REALLY? I have been a customer with AHS for over 10 years and they weren't going to tell me that?

Ok, fast forward. I found out from AHS what they needed to make this happen. They said they would issue a dispatch number, I would find my own contractor who needed to estimate the job and call it in before he began the work and they would give him an authorization number. Done, done and done. I mailed in the receipts with my name, address, dispatch number, authorization number, phone number, etc. AHS has returned the invoices to the contractor stating they cannot locate the customer!! I called AHS and got two rude customer service reps who said they couldn't help me. Sounds like a game to me -- the old runaround to keep from reimbursing me the $494 minus $75 deductible they owe me. Once this is over, I will be canceling my policy.

We've been relatively happy with American Home Shield. It's been 30 plus years but it is difficult when someone has anything to do with plumbing. If they want to send people from out of our area up to the High Desert, they try to triple charge. I've had to tell a couple of the people to go away and to not keep our name in anything because to fix a little broken pipe in the kitchen, they wanted to tear my entire kitchen apart and put in new cabinets, upper, lower, etc. It would only cost about $100 to fix it but the contractor wanted to charge us over 1,600. Prices in the High Desert are different than down below which we call LA. They're ridiculous. I've gotten to the point where if I have a plumbing problem, I will call a direct plumber and not even mess with them. They argue with me and say, "No, that's who's next on our list." I tell them to forget it because I'm not doing it. Other than the plumbing issue, we're happy with it.

They were less than helpful and it took them four times over the course of the month to actually get our drier fixed. We called them because the dryer is still not working even if they've just been here an hour ago and it would take them another week to come back to our house. It was very inconvenient for us because we don't have a line dry so we had to improvise or go to the cleaners for that. I talked to American Home Shield and they explained the process - I had no problem with them. It was LA Appliance that was less than caring, so I was not very pleased with them. The ones who did the garbage disposal, oven and the ceiling fan were also doing good. I'm still waiting though for the ceiling fan because they didn't make that model anymore. I will continue to renew the contract. I'm very excited with it and I don't feel the need to change.

My most recent claim with them was my washer. I called somebody and within 24 hours, somebody came in here and it was repaired. I paid my deductible and everything is okay. The contractor they sent is very professional, explained everything to us, gave us an appointment, and showed up on time. It’s been working just as it was working when it was new.

My most recent claim with American Home Shield was for the washing machine and I submitted it online. Minutes after I submitted it, they sent me an email giving me the name of the company that they were going to send out with their phone number. Within eight hours, I received a call from the company and they made an appointment to come in. They checked to see what the issue was, ordered parts through Home Shield, and came back in and corrected the issue. They were very professional. I liked the gentlemen that came in and worked on the washer very much. And since the repair, it’s been working great. As a matter of fact, there’s a load in there right now.

Every once in a while, with some other issues, sometimes it takes a little while to get a repair because they would prefer to provide the parts because it’s less expensive for them and sometimes it takes a little while to get the parts shipped here. I’ve been with them in a lot of years and I get the better deal with them than some of the other companies that are out there.

I have seven homes on American Home Shield. There are times when I've had to get second opinion. They have a tendency to find a reason that they can't fix something. They went out to fix a plumbing issue at one of our rental properties and it has been repaired already. However, a lot of times they have issues with water pressure because in this area, the water pressure's too high but I called the water company and they said that's the normal water range for this area. They want me to pay 500 and some odd dollars for them to put some kind of special valve in. That irks me because it has been that way for the last 30 years. I don't mind things that make sense but when things are illogical or arbitrary, then, I'm not happy. I'm almost 80% satisfied with AHS.

My last bill for Freon was $900. Someone finally said, "I don't think you should put any more Freon in here. I was on the phone one day for an hour on hold which was ridiculous. Then I had to go to a different stage because they had nobody in my area but nobody bothered to call me and tell me this. They had 24 or 48 hours to answer me but I never heard anything from anybody to tell me why. I just sit there and wonder. Also, when I went through the Home Buyer, I didn't seem to have a problem but when I went into it by myself, the price went up and now I have problems with them. I'm glad that American Home Shield is my warranty company. My sister has them and my realtor wanted me to have AHS as well. A couple of weeks ago, I called them but I went ahead and cancelled that work order because we weren't ready to have someone come out. The only other claim I had with AHS was a plumbing claim back in May, and everything was great. I went online, filed the claim and got a response from the contractor in no time. It was on that same day. Within a couple of hours, they were able to come out and take care of the problem. They were very professional and courteous. There weren't any complaints. Although the guy could not find the cleanout on the front or back of the house even after taking off the toilet seat (an extra charge out of my pocket), I can understand the guy's issue.

We have an older house and it was extremely hot out that day. It was muggy and there were mosquitoes because it had been raining. Up to this day, I've not been able to find the cleanout. So he and I would have probably been looking for it forever. Other than that, I went ahead and kept the contractor's number. I wanted to ask for that particular company in case I call AHS again for a plumbing service. AHS is the only home warranty that I've had and I'd recommend them to anybody.

I've had American Home Shield for 11 years and I've kept it because I had such good results with them up until this year. I don't know if AHS changed ownership. It seems that they put you through more. When we filed a claim because of our air conditioner, it took the contractors three to four times to fix the problem. I've never had this kind of problem before. After the first visit, they had to come back and told us that AHS required them to only try the quick fix, which didn't work. They put some kind of sealant they thought might work or might not. I've had both of my ACs go out this summer. I'm 72 years old and I'm in pain a lot. We had temperatures of 90 to 98 degrees. The last time the contractors had to fix my AC, it took them almost two weeks because a part had to be ordered and it took that long to get it in. So it was bad summer for us.

The problem was fixed eventually, but it took a long time when it could have been done the first time around and the people really knew the problem. I've never complained about them before. One of my daughters is with another company while I had my other daughter get AHS. She's had a terrible problem with them and it happened this year too. I know something is different.

They had what they needed in the vehicle and it didn't take them very long to fix the problem, around 30 minutes. The problem was with the gas valve of the water heater. They removed the bad one and put in a new one. I couldn't go out and buy the part that they needed myself but wanted to make sure that it was a certified item and that it would meet code restrictions. They were very efficient and courteous too

The only thing was there was an upfront fee of $100 aside from the monthly fee that I've already been paying. I haven't dealt with any same type business so I can't compare it and don't know what anybody else pays upfront each visit. My air conditioning system went out. It wasn't blowing cold air so I called American Home Shield. They said they had three or four different people in my area and none of them could come to my home. They weren't answering my phone calls. They said because of the hot weather in California, they were backed up for days. I told them it was an emergency. My house is 101 degrees, I can't sleep, can't do anything, and I felt almost sick. Finally, a contractor called me back but they told me that they don't work on manufactured homes so they cancelled their appointment with me. I had called the contractor three or four times but no one would ever answer the phone. I left messages but nobody would call me back. So when I called AHS, one of the representatives gave me a second number that was listed as an emergency number.

I called that number and the owner answered the phone. He was very nasty. He got mad at me and said, "Who gave you this number? This is my personal cellphone number. Don't you ever call me on this number!" I said American Home Shield gave me his number and he said AHS shouldn't be giving out his number to anybody. Then he told me that he had a lady at his place and hung the phone up in my face. When I called him back on the same number, he didn't answer. A few minutes later, he must have called his office because a lady called me up and told me they don't do manufactured homes and that my unit is different from other units.

I called American Home Shield back and told them what happened. They found another company who told me they work on manufactured homes but told American Home Shield otherwise. I went back and forth with them. Finally, I did a three-way call with them a lady said, "Well, here's the deal, we normally don't do them but we will come out to see what we can do but we can't make no guarantees. And if we come out there and we can't do it, then we can't do it. If you just need the coolant, then yeah, we could give you the coolant. But if it's anything more than that, we won't be able to do it." What if it's something else? Then I have to pay them $75 for nothing?

So now, I got all these people involved. I've made about eight or nine calls to American Home Shield. I talked to a guy and I asked him for his supervisor. The supervisor never came to the phone and never called me back and. I asked for supervisors twice but and they never gave me one. Then a guy told me, "I'll tell you what, here's what we're going to do. You can hire somebody on your own that's non-authorized." I had a guy who I used to keep when I first bought the AC unit. I called him up and see if he could come. He told me the soonest he could come would be the next day.

AHS told me that the outside contracted vendor had to call their non-authorization section for them to approve him. He was reluctant to do it because he said he worked with a lady in the past and AHS could never get it approved and it was back and forth with them, too. I said, "Well, I talked to them. I gave them the name of your company. They said that you were not on the list that they would not approve. You would be fine but you need to call them." He finally called them and AHS approved him. He came out and my bill came to $530. Of the $530, I'm only going to get reimbursed $370.

Everything that I've done with AHS was great but this recent incident was horrendous. It was very frustrating and disappointing. It was extremely stressful and was the worst experience I ever had in my life. In the end, they offered to reimburse me $125 for a fan. I was in the house for a whole week at a hundred degrees. I wasn't sleeping for two nights so I went to a hotel the third night and paid $85 to stay around the corner in a hotel. I went to four stores but fans were all sold out because of the season. I ended up buying a ceiling fan but I couldn't get anybody to install it because I don't have any electricals in the ceiling. They'd have to do it which would cost me $500. Nonetheless, my unusual situation turned out good because they provided remedy for it. Finding out that they contract with people who don't work on manufactured homes after I signed up the policy with them was the problem.

I did my claim submission to American Home Shield online for my pool heater. It was great and very easy. The contractors sent out to our home have been exceptional. I have yet to get a bad contractor from them.

It was in May when I had my washing machine worked on. The gentleman called me the next day and got everything taken care of. He was very good and professional. He came to check the washer and came back the next day to put the part he had to get, and everything was good. The unit has been working well. I had a few of my family coming and it was right on time. American Home Shield is excellent.

Our most recent claim with American Home Shield was for the disposal. It's easier to make the claim online but we did it by phone which takes longer. But whoever answered the phone was helpful, so it was perfectly fine. The contractors said they called the same day that they received the work, then they managed to be here the next day and ended the same day. The technician was also good. I'm a real estate agent and I always recommend AHS to most of my clients.

Our bathroom was clogging up continually for about a month. I called and explained it to the AHS rep. Union Plumbing came and said, "Well, it's not clogged now. There's no problem," and left. They never fixed it. My son and his wife came down from California and they took out the toilet and replaced it and they found that there was something stuck in the thing - that's why it was constantly clogging up. AHS charged me $75 for Union Plumbing coming to tell me that there was nothing wrong with my toilet when there was and I can show the receipts of having to put a new toilet in. I'm very unhappy with that. I would recommend AHS, but they have to be careful because sometimes, the people that they send don’t do their job.

Last week, our thermostat was starting up bad. Some times we would take a shower and the water would be hot. The next time there would be no hot water. We called American Home Shield and we didn't have any problem with the contractor. I am still waiting for the repair to get done because they had to order the part, so we have to keep the water temperature up high so that we have hot water. But overall AHS has been excellent. Every time we’ve called, they’ve come out on time and have been professional. I would recommend them.

I have been with American Home Shield for a long time and each time, they have always been good about fixing whatever was wrong. However, the last claim ticked me off. It was for my air conditioning unit. I didn’t know what was wrong with it, it was only blowing but there was no air coming from it. I was thinking it needed some freon. I can’t talk to anybody when I call them. I’ll be on hold over the phone forever and nobody ever comes, so I quit trying to call them and went on to see if I could find somebody else. But while I was online to do the claim with AHS, it said that I had no coverage for it. The month before that, I called them and they sent someone out to check. It was making a noise and they fixed it. I thought they must have cut it off after that because I had air conditioning before. After I saw that my coverage for it was unavailable, I wrote them a letter. Then someone called me so they can come and check it out.

At that time, I had talked to my sister and where she worked, their air conditioning unit was doing the same thing mine was doing. She said I should cut it off and let it sit for a while because it freezes up. I had never heard of that before but that’s what I did. We burnt up two days but it worked. So when the people called to come see it, it was already working. I found out that must be what the problem was, it has frozen up. It did it again so I cut it off and let it all day without using it. Then I turned it back on and it was working again. It’s been working ever since. Although it wasn't AHS that fixed my AC unit, I love them and I’m not thinking of cutting them loose right now.

My most recent claims were for a garbage disposal which stopped working and a plumbing issue. I had a stoppage in the toilet, it was backing up and stuff was coming out of the pipe in the front yard. I did the claims over the phone. The representatives who take the call and the plumbers they sent were fine. They decided to replace the garbage disposal but American Home Shield wouldn't cover the plumbing issue for the toilet stoppage. The company would charge $1700 to fix it. That was a little painful so I had somebody else to fix it. Although they have long hold times, I love American Home Shield. It has been an awesome experience with them.

Our claims with American Home Shield were great. The contractors that I've dealt with have been so good so far. There was a time when the contractor didn't get the problem fixed, but that wasn't his fault because they needed something else that they didn't have, so it was fine.

The people that do the claims for AHS were professional although sometimes it’s frustrating getting through because they're so busy and it takes a while on hold; but once I'm in to the process and I've made the report to the person, I’ve had excellent results. I couldn’t be happier. ] why I kept them. I had both Choice Warranty and American Home Shield for about a week. And I made a decision and cancelled the home program with Choice Warranty and kept American Home Shield because of my experience that I had with them. I had a claim for my water heater and they sent out a repair person that was kind of off-the-wall. I have a guy that I use for that kind of stuff so I had him put the water heater in. AHS was stellar. They paid for it, and then it covered the cost for having it put in. And it worked very well.

The only issue I have with AHS was there was some extra coverage that they told me they could put on my policy and there wouldn’t be a charge for it as a courtesy. And then when I called up to have it put on, they told me they couldn’t do it because the year had started already or something. Also, they are more than expensive - almost a hundred dollars. They're more expensive than what Choice Warranty is giving to me before. They've got a higher deductible, too. Choice has $40 deductible when I signed up for a three-year contract and their rate was $400 and with AHS, it's $500. But I kept AHS because of the results that I’ve had in the past with them. They've done a good job and I'd recommend AHS.
