Brand new Whirlpool dishwasher letting steam out ruining cabinets. Whirlpool admitted this has happened before. ** sent 3 different service repair companies to my house and all 3 told me the parts they recommended from Whirlpool was not going to fix problem. They finally after 3 different repairmen agreed to refund dishwasher. I requested they hire someone to give estimate on my kitchen cabinets. It was their product that done damage and I live in rural area and no one wants the job of restaining. If the cabinet is replaced it is expensive. Granite counters have to be removed and placed back, sink etc. I requested 3000.00 or Whirlpool send someone to give estimate. This has been dragging on for 2 months and still can't use dishwasher. Is that too much to ask for? This has been a nightmare and Whirlpool should be embarrassed. So many emails and messages and most of the time they are unreturned

WHIRLPOOL'S unacceptable customer service! Less than one year ago, we bought a Whirlpool dishwasher, type ADP 4411 from Khoury Home, Lebanon's leading retailer of household products. From the beginning, we were not really happy with the performance of the machine, which we felt was not cleaning as well as it should. But the nightmare for us came when ten months later, we came home to an electricity burning smell and smoke from our Whirlpool dishwasher, which had been off. Thankfully, our electric security system in our new apartment worked very well and shut off, so that our apartment didn't catch fire. It was a shock, but knowing that our machine was still under warranty, we contacted Whirlpool to let them know what happened.

The bigger shock came when the company told us that the electric board is burnt "probably because of high voltage when the electricity came too strong one time" and that we have to pay for a new board $190 because such cases are not covered by the warranty! A Whirlpool manager said because the electricity in Lebanon is "unstable", we should have unplugged the dishwasher whenever it was not in use - but it's not really logic- the same thing can happen while it is in use (and of course nobody told us about it when it was installed)! We, like other normal people, do not unplug our appliances when they are not in use, and we are using in our kitchen a lot of other electronic appliances without any problems.

The fact that Whirlpool is blaming us for a fire that could have had much more dangerous consequences is absolutely unacceptable. Unfortunately too late, we have read at the internet a lot of customer comments with these kinds of problems with Whirlpool dishwashers too. At last we got a $20 discount (!!) for the new board but on the service letter they wrote just that it had "smell problems". Nothing about burning! A burning dishwasher should be for Whirlpool company a much more serious theme! The way it was handled is NOT a customer service, NOT an international service for a big company like Whirlpool and especially really NOT the customer service of a U.S. company!

I am so disappointed in my whirlpool W10431035A gold series dishwasher. I bought this 2 yrs and 2 months ago on black Friday at a lowes. I wanted to have a whirlpool and I thought they were a good brand. It has been a little over 2 years and my dishwasher no longer works. The start button no longer works. It is not even that old and appliances should at least last 4 years. I could understand if the plastic utensil holder or dishwasher rack breaks...fine, you use plastic. But this is an intricate part of the dishwasher....the start button and it does not work. I am so disappointed in whirlpool. It is the start button...how can this break. The only thing I do is press normal cycle and the start button...that is it. How can this machine break so easily. How can whirlpool build and sell such a faulty product. So disappointed.

I purchased a Whirlpool dishwasher from Home Depot on 2/5/2015. It was delivered damaged on 2/9/2015. Home Depot refused to take it back and Whirlpool sent a tech out to see the damage. I told them I did not want a refurbished dishwasher that I paid almost $1000 for. Whirlpool advised Home Depot that the machine can be repaired. Once again I told both whirlpool and Home Depot that I did not want this dishwasher and to pick it up. Home Depot stated that there would be a 15 percent restocking fee along with a $65 to pick up the washer. Why should we have to pay anything? I am so disgusted for the treatment I received.

I would like to share whirlpool's lack of ownership for parts they knew were faulty that caused significant damage to my floor. It's absolutely horrendous that one would purchase the highest end dishwasher they offer (all highest end appliances in 3 homes so far) and the company is only willing to cover the replacement of the part. It's a horrible way to run a company. I hope that my review will warn prospective customers to stay away from a company who is only willing to take your cash at purchase (charging an arm and a leg no less) and not care about any repercussions after the fact. I hope they enjoy our 15k, because it will be the last penny they get from us.

I bought a portable dishwasher on 6/29/15. It didn't clean well, didn't drain properly. (I followed guidelines from the USER INFORMATION and used rinse). I called a plumber to clean out my pipes. My dishes were still dirty. I purchased an entire soft water system from Culligan. My dishes were still dirty. I called Whirlpool and Pacific Sales where I bought the machine, and got no assistance.

On 10/2014 I spent $263.50 to repair and replace parts so the machine would drain. Sometime in January of 2015 it stopped draining again. I just got off the phone with Whirlpool who will not take any responsibility for this lemon. You offered me a policy to purchase for over $200!!! You want me to spend MORE money on a machine that never worked right???? How is that help? How is that standing behind your product? Then there was some lame offer to pay for parts, ONLY if I used your extremely expensive repair people and pay for labor, and $139 just to show up at my door. I asked who I can write to or talk to about this and was told by Sherri that there was no one to talk to but her. Really? Give me a reason to ever consider a Whirlpool product and to not slam Whirlpool whenever someone's considering it.

Whirlpool wdf530plym4 - Bought this dishwasher 5/13. Sat for 3 months in the box while my kitchen was being built. 7/14 pump motor went out, called Whirlpool, they set me up with an appliance repair company, and I ended up paying $90. The technician was being nice, charging me less than he needed to since he said it was an easy fix. 1/26/2015 pump motor went out again. Called Whirlpool again. Lady on phone was very snooty with me, telling me it was out of warranty. Told them I was very dissatisfied, my dishwasher has broken 2x in 18 months and all she said was, I should have bought the extended warranty. Dishwasher is not even 2 years old and already needs to be fixed 2x. The most expensive part on the machine I may add. Going my average, I can keep dumping $130 every 9 months to have a working dishwasher by Whirlpool. I would understand if the thing broke after 2 or 3 years. I only run the thing 2 or 3x a week at the most.

Whirlpool/Ikea Renlig dishwasher - Since installing this integrated dishwasher it has continuously destroyed the decorative panel door. On my model (they have recently changed in 2014) the steam exits at the top, this damages whatever it comes into contact with it. Today they are saying that it has not been installed correctly and that it should actually sit out from the countertop, i.e. jut out from the rest of the kitchen so that the steam can vent into the room. The panel should also be lower than the other doors of the kitchen cabinetry too. Hardly integrated and would be a bloody eyesore. I am about to call them back again and inform them that I will be making a scene about this in my local Ikea and with anyone else who cares to listen.

They made us pay the overnight shipping fee for the part. Then the part didn't show up. When we called to find out why isn't the part at my house, they said they found out FedEx doesn't deliver on Saturdays. I purchased all new, upper end Whirlpool appliances for our newly built home just 6 months ago, to include a side by side refrigerator with ice maker and water dispenser, an over the stove microwave, a smooth cooktop oven/range, a dishwasher, a washing machine and a clothes dryer. We plugged in the new refrigerator, and after 24 hours of letting it sit and get cold, we bought $300.+ of groceries and filled our new refrigerator. We pulled the milk out hours later and it was warm, checked other food items and found them to be warm, too. I placed a thermometer in the refrigerator and it read 55 degrees. In disbelief, I placed a second thermometer in the refrigerator and it, too, read 55 degrees. Being brand new, only hours old, and clearly not working, I called for a replacement refrigerator.

Our builder said we needed to call Whirlpool for a replacement. Whirlpool refused to send us a new refrigerator. Needless to say, we had to throw out all of our food for being dangerously off temperature, and we were less than happy about wasting $300.+ on food we could not safely eat, but glad we didn't have food poisoning. Not even the freezer could maintain a temperature below 55 degrees. While waiting on a repairman, we noticed that we were not hearing the refrigerator's motor come on more than once every several hours. They sent a repairman out three days later, and he found nothing wrong other than a poorly fitting door, he said. He replaced the door hinge and told us our refrigerator would be cold in 3 - 5 hours. Well, it never did get below 55 degrees, set on the coldest setting. Whirlpool was called again and they couldn't seem to get another repairman out to fix my brand new refrigerator that could not perform its most basic function, which is to maintain food at proper temperature.

Again, Whirlpool refused to send me a replacement refrigerator for this clearly defective refrigerator we were stuck with. We were told it would be 2-3 weeks before another repairman could come out, and then he would have to order parts after he diagnosed the refrigerator problem, taking another two weeks. We needed a refrigerator, like most people do, so we were forced to take this brand new refrigerator and stick it in the garage, not being able to sell a brand new refrigerator that won't get cold. Angry at Whirlpool for taking our money and leaving us with a refrigerator that never worked, we bought a Samsung refrigerator that we are very happy with - it works! After 2 months, our Whirlpool above the stove microwave has the motor turn on when we close the door, and it takes several opening and closing sequences to get it to shut off. We will be replacing this new microwave when we can afford to.

Our ceramic/smooth top stove/oven, takes a very long time (at least 20 minutes) to preheat and the temperature in the oven is not accurate to the set temperature, according to my oven thermometer. The cooktop surface is inferior; it gets permanent water spots and it scratches very easily even though we use the correct pans and are very careful with it, and does not come clean easily. The surface feels rough, not slick like the GE Profile ceramic/smooth cooktop range that I had for 14 trouble-free years. I am using the same exact pans that I used with our GE, and we know how to be gentle with a smooth cooktop surface. After 14 years of owning the GE stove, the GE felt slick and smooth, cleaned easily, and did not have one single scratch on it. It looked as good as new when we moved, after 14 years of use.

I will be replacing this inferior Whirlpool smooth cooktop range as soon as I can afford to, as well. Last month, right before Thanksgiving, our new Whirlpool dishwasher started making a really loud motor sound and quit working that day. It would fill water, drain the water and shut off. I once again called Whirlpool, and they were maddenly unhelpful. This time, they told me they would have a repairman call me in 5 working days to schedule an appointment to come and see my non working dishwasher. After 7 days, I called Whirlpool AGAIN, to ask why someone did not call me for an appointment. I was expecting a house full of people for Thanksgiving and I had no working dishwasher. I spent a lot of money buying these crappy Whirlpool appliances and am very frustrated.

This time, Whirlpool told me that they could not find a service person in my area to service the unit. As if I live out in the middle of know-where?! I live 20 minutes from Austin, the state capitol of Texas! A 20 minute drive from the capitol building to my door! Whirlpool told me I could take my 5 month old, broken dishwasher to a repair shop and that the repair shop would need to call Whirlpool before they did any work, and that Whirlpool would only authorize a maximum of $150 to repair my dishwasher. They actually had the nerve to tell me that I would have to pay for the repair, and they would mail me a "gift card" in 6 - 8 weeks to reimburse me up to $150 on my new, broken dishwasher that is under warranty. I was furious!! Some warranty! The broken dishwasher is now sitting next to the broken refrigerator in my garage. I needed a dishwasher before Thanksgiving dinner, so I went and bought a Samsung.

I realize that all makers can have a lemon, but all of my Whirlpool kitchen appliances are junk!! I will never own another Whirlpool product for as long as I live, and I will tell anyone who will listen about our abominable experience with Whirlpool's customer service and the expensive, crappy appliances we unfortunately wasted a lot of our money on. Do yourself a huge favor, buy anything but Whirlpool! Thankfully, everything else about our new home has been great. Our new Whirlpool appliances will remain a very sore subject for year to come, I suspect.

Re: wdf7payw6. I purchased this unit last February. It has never washed properly. In the last month 2 separate warranty service reps have been out. The first one told me that I have not been doing a good enough job of prewashing the dishes so the arms were clogged. While cleaning them, he broke the top arm. When he came back to replace the top arm, he added that the dishes were not drying because I didn't use enough jet dry so I would have to dry by hand, and that the arms were clogging because I didn't prewash well enough. I told him to leave and never come back. I called customer service and they sent out a new company.

The rep today told me that even on time delay or overnight settings I must run the hot water prior to starting the unit. And that since the water wasn't hot enough; the undissolved detergent was clogging the spray arms. This was confirmed by your phone support person who told me that for "best results" that's what I had to do. The "result" I want is for the thing to wash dishes. It doesn't do that. The current rep ordered a heater, motor pump and spray arms. My previous dishwasher operated perfectly (until the pump failed) for the 18 years I have lived in this house plus however long it was here before I moved in. I will never buy a Whirlpool product or anything built by subsidiaries or parent AGAIN.

Long story short is that my dishwasher was 7 months old and two parts went out on it. 4 months (and almost 3 hours total on the phone) later it still does not work. Whirlpool only has one repair person in our area and that person is a small business owner who works alone and is now in his 2nd week of vacation leaving no one else in his shop to do repair while he is out. I do not know if my part is ordered nor do I have a repair date! Never will I ever again purchase a $900.00 dishwasher or any appliance from Whirlpool!

I had started the dishwasher and had gone to bed last night. I came downstairs ten minutes later to get a bottle of water. There was smoke throughout my downstairs levels. Our Whirlpool Gold Dishwasher's control had dark, noxious smoke emitting from it. I tried to turn it off but it was too hot to touch. I went to the breaker box and shut it off there, turned on fans, and went back to bed. This morning, it turned the electricity back on. It started smoking again. I tried to cancel the cycle but it wouldn't cancel. I opened the door to stop the cycle and it continued spraying water and still wouldn't shut down. I had to shut it off at the breaker again. Next problem is my refrigerator, washer and dryer are all on the same breaker. UGH! This is the second Whirlpool I have had. The first one had a rusted tub that leaked into our basement. The repair guy said he had never seen that before...sure...why would you put something in a dishwasher that would rust out on you? Whirlpool, NEVER AGAIN. I WILL PASS THIS INFO ON TO EACH AND EVERY PERSON I EVER KNOW. COUNT ON IT.

Oven igniter has went out for the third time, 1 broke knob on stove. Dishwasher leaves dishes wet after cycle. Fridge handle fell off, crisper drawer rail broke off, and a door shelf is cracked.

I am a veteran and unemployed. What happens when warranty expires and all my CRAP "whirlpool" breaks a week later? Also was told warranty doesn't cover the crisper drawer. They didn't tell me that when I purchased at Spencer's on 75th ave and Bell road. Salesman at Spencer's, Dan ** told us everything is covered. I'm not a happy customer or VETERAN!

We recently bought a home and our dishwasher came with the home. We saw our basement leaking and got 2 plumbers come over and check the pipes out, paying almost $600, only to realize that the leak was actually from the broken plastic in our dishwasher, and not any pipe. When we called the Customer Service to get it replaced as it comes with a 20 year warranty on the plastic body, they said they would replace the part, but I would have to pay $81 for the first 15 min & $19 every additional 15 min. for labor, which means I would end up paying at least close to $400 or more, depending on how long the technician takes to replace the fiber body. Neither their policy nor warranty make any sense to me. It's frustrating to see that in spite of being covered, I would be the one paying money out of my pocket.

Feb. 2014 the soap dispenser door would not open, so the dispenser was replaced again. March 2014 the soap door would not open again so the computer board was replaced & the door did open. However, it stopped again 3 days later.

April 2014 the dispenser and the board were both replaced. The rinse aid dispenser did not dispense leaving the inside with moisture on everything. So yesterday the dispenser was again replaced but now the rinse aid is running out the bottom of the dispenser. Thank goodness we purchased an extended warranty for $169 or we would have spent more than $1,000 on repairs!! The warranty company refuses to acknowledge that their lemon law should apply. There are 2 of us and we use it 2/3 times weekly.

Almost all of the tips on the racks are rusting, causing them to corrode and break off completely! This dishwasher is well under 5 years old. Not sure what we paid for this machine but the racks should not be doing this after this short length of time. They shouldn't be doing this after any length of time.

I called Whirlpool's customer support center today and was told there is nothing they could do. The support agent asked if I had hard water, if so, that could be causing the problem (I don't have hard water). The agent stated that they do not cover rusting racks nor would they replace them, now I see why. They are expensive to replace. As of now, I will not be buying another Whirlpool appliance - ever! They just lost a dissatisfied customer due to their very poor quality and customer service.

I was told to "Grease" the racks. One year later I still have the same issue! I placed the phone near the Dishwasher to have the Customer Service Rep hear the Loud Squeaking and to no avail.

I will never ever buy another product from Whirlpool. Now the latch will not close to the door! I rarely use this appliance, only placing dishes and utensils. No Pots and Pans!!!!! This is going to be another huge bill I will be responsible for paying and I don't feel it is of my own doing. It seems to be apparent that Whirlpool does not stand by their products!!!! I am sure they are aware of all these issues, customers are complaining and nothing seems to be done from reading some of these posts. I am wondering why they are still in business.

Note: at no time did any of our dishes touch the heating element.

I called Whirlpool customer service and they said they would send a technician out for $81 and in addition I would be charged $19 for every 15 minutes of service. I had asked to speak to a supervisor and he recommended that a technician come to my house at my expense and all the supervisor could say was that he was sorry, which became even more frustrating. No remuneration was offered. I have had other issues with our Whirlpool washing machine (holes in clothes), gas range stove (ignitron issues), and fridge. l will never purchase any Whirlpool product again including Jenn-Air. I made this quite clear to the supervisor.

This dishwasher was purchased and installed 2 years ago. I paid $600 and you would assume that something mechanical would quit after years of use on an average of 1 to 2 times per weeks. Not this one...rusting racks and hard telling what damage the rust flaking off during running is causing to the mechanical components. The dishwasher racks in Whirlpool/Amana/Kitchen Aid/Maytag dishwashers do not last as long as the dishwasher does. The vinyl coating on the "cheap metal" tines wears off causing the metal underneath to corrode and rust. This rust will deposit on your flatware, stainless or otherwise. When the vinyl coating wears away at the base of the tines, the tines will break off, creating more opportunity for rust to deposit onto flatware. You can purchase new tips for the end of the tines, and more vinyl to paint onto the tines, but you cannot replace the tines themselves or paint the vinyl onto any rusty surfaces.

Another option would be to buy a new rack. A new bottom rack costs almost half of what a new dishwasher costs and if you need both top and bottom racks, you will pay almost $400 for the pair. Whirlpool was not amenable to negotiating a better price on the racks, but they would sell me a new model at a price that was close to what it would cost to replace both racks! Now does that make sense? Does it make sense for appliance companies to cause consumers to have to throw out an entire appliance rather than fix it? No, and it is creating more waste and filling more landfills. My dishwasher has run great for 7 years and I refuse to buy into the rack racket! No more Whirlpool for me!

Four years ago, we remodeled our kitchen and purchased the Whirlpool Quiet Partner II dishwasher, with a one-year service warranty. To be fair, we have not had a problem with the operation of the dishwasher, but rather, the quality of the dishwasher. Within the first two years, the front panel of the dishwasher started turning brown and "rusting" through from the steam escaping the dishwasher. The labels on the operating buttons have peeled off, again, from the heat of the dishwasher. The upright spokes on bottom tray, that hold dishes and etc. in place, started rusting through and breaking off. Guides which allow top drawer to slide in and out and hold drawer in place, have weakened, so drawer is constantly dropping or sagging.

I have had other dishwashers that have certainly lasted more than four years but was encouraged by a Home Depot salesman that this was a "great machine for the price!" I should have paid closer attention to that "for the price" part. In any event, I called Whirlpool's customer service department, believing that in this day and age, SOMETHING could be done to help with these issues and was told, quite succinctly, that there was nothing Whirlpool could do. I asked about standing by the integrity of their product and got no response to that either.

I am an associate with American Girl, a company that stands by the quality of its product FOR LIFE. To be told by a "customer service" rep from a much larger company, that there was nothing they could do to help me, completely blew me away. I have taken pictures that are pretty indicative of the quality of this dishwasher and will be going online to warn other consumers against purchasing Whirlpool products.

We bought a Gold Series dishwasher on 2/12/2013. It stopped working properly and we had a service call on August 6, 2013. Since then, we have had 3 companies come out 5 different times to try to fix the machine. Nothing on the top rack gets clean. In fact ,they come out dirtier than when they go in. The last service call was on October 7, 2013. I was told by a Whirlpool representative that the repairman would call technical services and that if the problem was not solved, that the machine would be deemed unrepairable and that Whirlpool would replace the machine since it was within the warranty. I was also told that their standard is that if a machine has to have 3 service repairs to be deemed unrepairable.

So 7 days after the last repair, the machine was still not washing correctly. Once again everything on the top rack was dirty. The machine has had the motor, the pump, and the hoses replaced. Still doesn't work. So I called again to get the ball rolling on replacing the machine and was told that they would not replace the machine and that I needed to have another repairman come out and sit in front of the machine and call technical service. Apparently, the previous repairman didn't follow their instructions. I called and complained twice, I guess Whirlpool thinks that as consumers we have the ability to change work schedules, school schedules, take vacation time, etc. to wait around for the 6th service call, and wait through the 5-hour window that we are given for the repairman to get there. Well we don't.

Obviously I have given Whirlpool plenty of opportunities to fix this problem. They haven't been able to do so with 3 different companies. There comes a time when you just stop kicking the dead horse. Now is that time. If they can't figure out what's wrong the first time, and not the second time, and not the third time, why do they think the 6th time is the charm? Because I got so upset with them, they referred me to a customer care manager. She called and left me a message, and I have been calling her now for 2 days with no success on her DIRECT line nonetheless. My phone calls are not returned.

I won't even go into how many customer service reps told me a different story every time I called. Whirlpool's customer service doesn't care about their consumers. They don't care about our complaints. Now I have a $600 piece of junk. I will never buy another Whirlpool product. I will make sure that every person I know that is looking at appliances knows about what a horrible company Whirlpool is. They just put crap in a shiny package!

At that point, it was outside of the warranty, so we called upon our extended warranty we bought through Whirlpool. Guess what? That warranty doesn't cover the racks. During the 45-minute call, I got in my car and drove to plumbing supply and applied a new hose clamp. The next day, a "free" service call, the repairman said it was the second one this week, "That's just what I would have done," but would not put the machine back. Now, approximately 14 months into installation, the dishwasher does not work. The control panel is flashing and will not start. What a runaround with KitchenAid. We were told there was a recall on the hose clamp (we never got one). We cannot have the control panel worked on until the hose clamp is certified... That will take a week. Then we can call back... What a hassle. We bought this expensive product on good reviews. We are most disappointed. There is very little concern for making the product good. It's incredible that so much can go wrong in such a short time of limited use. Once/day... The hose clamp is just poor engineering. The rest is terrible quality and support

We purchased a new refrigerator and dishwasher about three and a half years ago. There are only two of us living in the house and we both work so it is not like we use our dishwasher every day. Dishwasher is Whirlpool Whisper Quiet III Gold model. About three months ago, the panel lights quit working but the dishwasher would still run. Now the blasted thing will not even turn on. Our ice maker freezes up and we are always having to ice pick out the ice and clean out the ice maker. Basically, we never use it because we are tired of the process of cleaning it just to have ice.

Now after reading reviews, I do not want to fork out the money to have a repair person come in and fix the dishwasher which most likely will break down somewhere else. Plus the dishwasher tray has a lot of broken tips and are rusty and I have actually had to file a few to keep from getting stabbed by the sharp point. The previous dishwasher worked great and had been in the house for over 15 years. I wish I could remember what brand it was. I only replaced it because I wanted one to match the refrigerator. I am appalled at the quality of the Whirlpool products. I have to get another dishwasher and I have other things that I need to spend my money on rather than a dishwasher. I won't buy another Whirlpool product as of September 13, 2013.

We purchased a Whirlpool dishwasher on 10/08/12 from Lowe’s in Howell, NJ. Shortly after using it we noticed a "fishy" smell from it even after the dishes were cleaned. They looked clean but the dishes & dishwasher itself emitted that odor. I called Whirlpool & they told me to use a Vinegar wash & try the Affresh tabs which we did for the next few months. By summer I called Whirlpool again & they referred me to the Lowe’s where we purchased it. Lowe’s set up a repair company to come out & look at it since it is still under warranty. They came out & discovered the drain pump had to be replaced. It took almost two weeks before they came back to fix it.

Now two months later we still smell that odor so we called Lowe’s back again to tell them we are just not happy with this appliance. They said they would send another team out to look at it. So a different company came out & said the dishwasher was not installed correctly & needs a drain tube & air gap device. We called Lowe’s & asked if we could just get a new dishwasher as we don't want this one anymore & all its issues. They said they would look into it & get back to us. That was a week ago. We keep calling them & getting the run around. No one wants to take responsibility & at this point I'm not sure who is responsible... Lowe’s, Whirlpool or the appliance company Lowe’s contracts out?

I feel like they are dragging this out because the warranty will be up in a month. We have made many big purchases at Lowe’s but will no longer frequent there. What is their policy on returning/exchanging appliances that are not satisfactory? I know they said we have to have 3 complaints before they will return it but what about all the days we have to take off of work to sit home & wait for their service calls? I'm ready to go to Sears & just buy a new dishwasher. It shouldn't be so difficult for consumers.

Whirlpool Energy Saver Dishwasher Model DU850SWPS3 was placed in our new home purchased in May of 2010. We just found that this dishwasher had a slow leak in the seal to the motor which has ruined our hardwood floor, subflooring and part of a laminate beam on the floor directly below the washer, plus molding from the water. The leak has been going on sometime it was not noticed until the floor became so soaked from use over a long period of time that we finally saw the leak, by accident, in the basement which we hardly access.

The Whirlpool costumer service was no help and would not entertain repairing the dishwasher unless we paid due to the fact it is over the year warranty. This is clearly a defective part in their product and poor workmanship on their part. We should not have to check underneath our new appliances to determine if we have leaking problems because we cannot trust them from failing. I will never purchase another Whirlpool product and will not recommend their products to anyone.

Whirlpool Dishwasher "Quiet Partner III" Model #8575637, White - Purchased in 2006. As of July 2013, I can say this is the worst dishwasher we have ever owned. After normal use (once a day or less), the plastic on the front control panel began cracking in the first year, and the button covers have fallen off completely. Dishes were never completely clean (at least not as clean as other dishwashers). Dishwasher leaked out one side and needed repairs. Now it is in need of a new valve, because no water is coming into the inner cavity. Repairman says it is likely that the control board, which is getting moisture into it after losing buttons, etc., will probably need to be replaced soon as well. $300 more to spend on a repair bill.

SAD (AND DANGEROUS!) THAT SO MANY APPLIANCES ARE ADDING UP IN OUR LANDFILLS. There should be a LAW requiring appliances to last a certain number of years, and to clearly state their "expected life" on the appliance when you purchase it. "Planned Obsolescence" is a common business plan these days, but there must be some control on what is allowed! (I may go ahead and repair this model just because I feel bad adding one more piece of junk to our collective global pile! Sheesh!!) And all those "energy star, we're so green" advertisements? Well, if it's soon to be sitting in a landfill, it's NOT so green! I am willing to pay more to purchase appliances that will last a number of years, not need many repairs, and function as they advertise... Thank goodness I kept our very first Whirlpool refrigerator - never needing any repairs and still running like a tank out in the garage. (So I know Whirlpool, at least at one time, was able to build a quality product!)

I have a 1-year warranty that came with the dishwasher, so both repairs were covered. However, I felt that there should be more done by the company, such as a free extended warranty to cover the cost of repairs as I'm sure there will be more; and this is a problem that even the repair man said shouldn't be happening.

I called Whirlpool to see what could be done, and all they kept telling me is that I could purchase an extended warranty. I told them (nicely, at first) that I found that ridiculous - why should I pay even more to continue to fix a problem that I shouldn't be having? If they weren't going to give me a free extended warranty, I requested at least a partial credit toward another dishwasher, and they could have the piece of junk I have back. They refused to help. While looking for parts online, we discovered that this is a common problem with not only Whirlpool, but also Maytag dishwashers (Both brands are now one and the same.). There is evidently a design flaw that is causing numerous control panels to fail. Why hasn't there been a recall? The part alone is over $100 (if you can find one in stock) plus service call fees. This last time, the technician brought a new one and it broke the next day. I cannot understand why a company with a supposedly good reputation would include an accessory with such a faulty design, made of such flimsy materials. We have the basket wired shut again and have to call the repair place, but I have no confidence that anything the technician brings to us will work any better, since it's the same stupid design and shoddy workmanship.

Dishwasher has probable design flaw with wheel positions causing overhanging load to put extreme stress on outer two wheels. The design was done to save money instead of having telescoping rails as most dishwashers do. Explained this. They will not even send a part. Many other Whirlpool dishwashers use these parts. Probable class action suit material.

On October 21st 2011, Michael sent their technician, Steve, to my residence to check my washing machine. I was in the house the whole duration of his visit. After testing he concluded that the control board of my machine is faulty. Although he brought with him his own control board but he never showed me my machine working when he installed his control board, even though I was in the house at the time. With my lack of knowledge at the time, I missed requesting that he show me the machine working with his control board. But he should have involved me in the diagnosis since I was just home and should have been his initiative. Anyway, Steve then said that the total cost of the control board plus service is $194.03 on top of the diagnosis fee of $81.19.

I was taken aback with the cost since working used washing machine on Craigslist just cost $150. So I said I can only pay him for his diagnosis of $81.19 by personal check. He issued me an invoice with account number **. I also thought that I also could get a cheaper control board online which I did. Also, I know I have the right not to purchase control board from them as long as the diagnosis was accurate since I paid for it. So I ordered a control board from ApplianceZone.com and also chatted with a technician named Kelly.

Based on the symptoms I related to her, Kelly confidently said that the issue is not with the control board but the Control panel is the one that is faulty. Kelly's diagnosis was different from Steve's but since Steve has personally checked my machine, I decided to purchase a control board. When the board arrived on Octpber 25th, I immediately installed it as its easy to install since I followed simple instructions how to install it myself. But when I installed the new control board it manifested the same issue as the original part.. So I called Steve over the phone and he said the new control board.

I purchased also faulty and that I have to replace it which I did. Then the second new control board arrived on November 8th and when I installed it, exactly same issue again manifested. That was then I suspected probably Steve misdiagnosed my Washing Machine. So I tried calling Depew the same day but wasnt able to reach Steve. Instead another guy named Kenneth answered the phone. He said that Steve has the right diagnosis but I insisted that I recalled Steve never showed me the washing machine working with his control board installed so I'm doubting he got the correct diagnosis.

Since it wasn't helping me at all, I decided to visit personally their store on November 8,th 2011 at 5933 Burnet Rd Austin TX, to request an audience with their manager. Then I met the manager named Michael ** who I believe is also the owner of the company. After introducing myself and explained the issue and told him that I wasnt satisfied with the service rendered by Steve because with two new control boards why is my machine still not working so I believe Steve got an incorrect diagnosis. I was a dissatisfied customer and I was hoping they would find a way to help me since I already paid them $81.19 but to my surprise, this Michael ** was so rude, his response was "We have done our job, you are on your own now.

We don't need your business. Good Bye" I said "Is this how you treat your customers? " he answered me "This is how I treat you".. I felt discriminated and insulted by his unprofessionalism. I couldn't imagine an owner of a business treating a customer like that. Before I left, I told him that I will report him to Whirlpool since they referred Depew to me and I would also report to the Texas Attorney General. He just said "Go ahead and do what you want to do. We have nothing to do with you; I couldn't believe we have a business owner like this here in Austin TX.

I really appreciate you helping me with this issue with Depew Appliance especially with this issue with their manager Michael Depew. I also demand refund of $81.19 for the diagnosis as they don't deserve to be paid and also they should pay me the cost of the control board $85.13. Lastly, I like to request that whatever license this company is holding must be reviewed as his dealing with me as customer is nothing short of discriminatory.

Certain brands of dishwashers made by Whirlpool, including Whirlpool, Kitchenaid and Kenmore, are a fire hazard. Most appeared to be made in the mid-00's. My Kenmore Elite, model# 665.16293400, bought in March 2006, started emitting a burning plastic smell. I removed the door panel and found where the control board wires have been overheating and melting the plastic liner inside the door.

Further investigation led me to kitchenaidfire.com, which details the models involved and includes hundreds of reports of fires from these models. I also searched saferproducts.gov and also found over 100 reports of fires from these models. The report logs are growing rapidly as it appears most of the control boards start to malfunction about five years in.

I called Sears and they said that Whirlpool needs to do a recall. I called Whirlpool and I was told that they do not make Kenmore dishwashers, only some parts. This is completely false. I couldn't believe the representative was told to tell me that besides the part that is failing is stamped Whirlpool. These Whirpool-made dishwashers are a documented fire hazard and need to be recalled. I do not know what it takes, hundreds of fire reports have been logged and they are rapidly growing, but I hope that it doesn't take someone to be killed before they are recalled.

I bought a Whirlpool dishwasher in 2008 from Best Buy and purchased the extended warranty through Best Buy. First of all, my complaint is not with Best Buy (model # DU1145XTPBA). I have had nothing but trouble with the unit not filling with water, being noisy, and other problems. And then, my intelligence is insulted by these independent contractors, who are supposed to be appliance repair specialists. I found that far from the truth in most cases. They have a list of patented things that the consumer is doing wrong: not having a hot water heater next to the unit, using too much detergent, not loading it properly, and on and on. They must think we are idiots. I always would run the water from the sink till it got hot before filling. And I am a miser so I use less detergent than what the manufacturer or the detergent package says.

Anyway to make a long tale short, it started leaking last week, so I assumed the door seal or some other such thing. But lo and behold, the door is rotted out at the bottom. The black finish has bubbled up and the metal is actually rotting away. I am from up north and it looks like my old Chevy 2 Nova rotted out. I called Whirlpool and spoke with several people and supposedly someone in management. They were, of course, sympathetic but offered no assistance or explanation. They offered to send a factory authorized repairman to replace the door at more than the cost of a new dishwasher. Are we that stupid? They never offered me a voucher for a discount on a new unit, which I am going to have to buy. I would not have accepted it anyway, as my last few experiences with Whirlpool have been dreadful.

I will never buy another Whirlpool anything. The name used to stand for a quality product that you could depend on. But now it is like most things are offered to the consumer in this throw away society. And as long as we keep buying inferior products and only expecting them to last a few years, I am afraid that is what we will continue to get. Be vocal and let them know how you feel, even though they are probably yawning on the other side of the phone. They are without compassion and could not care any less. They are just looking for a paycheck and have probably heard a hundred complaints like mine, so it's water off the proverbial duck's back. But when it's their own job in jeopardy, perhaps they will start passing on these complaints to someone who will be willing to listen. It's a very bad experience and I will never buy Whirlpool again.

A&E needed me to wait about 2 weeks for the first available appointment for service. When the technician arrived and pulled out the dishwasher, he told me that he would not repair it because he didn't like where the hose was installed through the cabinet. He insisted that only after the hose was moved, they would return to fix the leak if it was still an issue.

Of course, the hose was then moved and the machine still leaks. So, I called A&E back to schedule another service call. I was again told that the next available service call was 2 weeks out.

Now, the day before the service call, I receive a phone call from A&E, telling me that they have to reschedule the service call that is supposed to be for tomorrow. Once again, the earliest next available appointment is another week out.

If it was now not past the original 30 days to be able to return the item to Lowe's, I would have already done that. By the time the first A&E service call happened, it was already past the 30 days in which I could have returned it to Lowe's.

On March 3, I purchased a dishwasher (Model: KUDE70FXSS1 Serial No.: F10202361) on Whirlpool's VIP link, which will more likely be my last Whirlpool purchase based on the slightly damaged product and incredibly poor customer service I've received. Upon delivery of the dishwasher on March 9, I noticed that the left rear wheel was damaged and slightly bent. I also noticed that the unit was a little off balance. But the delivery person explained to me that everything was okay and that the front legs just needed to be adjusted. I believed him and signed the delivery receipts with the additional note about the left rear wheel being damaged.

At the time of delivery, the driver also happened to mention that J.B. Hunt did offer installation services for dishwashers. I then called Whirlpool customer service, which pretty much gave me the cold shoulder, and said that it wasn't in their policy. I had to request the installation service at the time of purchase and Whirlpool would not send someone back out. This made me upset because I initially wanted to have the dishwasher installed but your VIP link didn't show an option for installation. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to request the installation services when they're not being offered. But the genius customer service representative thought that I should intuitively call Whirlpool when the link isn't on the website. This is the first demonstration of Whirlpool's poor customer service, in my opinion.

After a couple of days of driving around to get a hose and a cord to perform the installation, I finally installed the dishwasher on March 12. Once installed, I noticed that the hinge on the left side was rubbing against the tub of the dishwasher. The door hinge was bent and the main tub was slightly damaged. Again, I contacted Whirlpool's customer service department who sent out a repairman who confirmed that the dishwasher needed new tub and hinges which were covered under warranty. Unfortunately, he told me that I would not receive a new dishwasher since I installed it myself. He would order a new tub and hinges and transfer all the equipment and wiring from my original dishwasher to the new tub. Essentially, I would have a refurbished dishwasher at a new price, which I do not want.

I initially wanted to have the dishwasher installed but your VIP link didn't show an option for installation. If Whirlpool's website worked the way it should have and offered an installation service, I wouldn't be in this situation. I would have paid for the installation and the people installing the new dishwasher would have realized that it was damaged prior to them leaving and ordering a new dishwasher. I am a customer and not a dishwasher repairman. No normal person would have been able to catch the damage that is on my machine. Second, I find it hard to believe that Whirlpool's policy states to have all the equipment from my original dishwasher installed on a new tub. So, I paid $989 for a new dishwasher that's really a refurbished dishwasher because of the damage. I wish I would have visited this site prior to purchasing. I will never deal with Whirlpool again.

The Whirlpool dishwasher control panel caught on fire. Model# GU1200XTKS0. Serial# **. I was able to cut power to the house and save my family's lives. We are usually in the bed when the dishwasher runs. Seeing as how I was able to stop the fire before anything was severely damaged, I have the control panel that failed. The steam from the wash cycles is designed to escape in the same location where electrical connections within the control panel are made. The moisture build-up over the years caused an electrical shortage. This would have ended the lives of my family and can for many others.

I consider this a product that is designed to fail within a certain amount of time. The problem is, if your home circuit breaker does not trip, then you are done for. The design could easily be made into two completely separate sections. Instead, the manufacturer counts on a simple rubber seal between the two sections.

I contacted Whirlpool and was quickly connected to the Whirlpool safety department. I was informed that since my appliance was nine years old, they would not be able to help me. The dishwasher is discontinued and unrepairable. The best they could do was offer me a 15% refund on the new model of my choice. After much debate, I accepted the 15% refund. This was due to the fact that the installation dimensions of another brand would force me to have the cabinet re-modeled. I have reported the problem to Consumer Product Safety Commission and my local Attorney General's Office.

Make no mistake. I am very thankful for my family's safety. It was fortunate I was able to save my home as well.

Our dishwasher has never worked correctly since we have bought it a year and a half ago. We have had 4 service calls on it over the year and half we have owned it. It is a dual drawer KitchenAid made by Whirlpool. It just does not clean the dishes. Our dishes are nothing special and not oversized. But because of the design the top drawer does not close properly on our standard size dinner plates. This in turn creates a leakage problem (first noticed by one of the service techs).

However, even if the load of dishes have no dinner plates in it, it still does not clean properly. We have had to re-wash or hand wash dishes after unloading them from the dishwasher. The pump on the upper drawer of the dishwasher was replaced during the first service call. It was explained to use on the fourth service call that because of the design of the dishwasher the pump is actually undersized for the task of actually cleaning the dishes.

Given the design issues that seem to be inherent with the dual drawer dishwashers, (The too small drawers, the inadequate pump size and the dishwashers overall inability to actually clean dishes), we would like it replaced with a single drawer dishwasher. Whirlpool, however, refuses to back their product claiming that it works correctly. We have spoken with Whirlpool corporate and that seems to be their line. They did send the fourth tech. who essentially did nothing but agree with us that it is a design issue and cannot be fixed.

There seems to be a design flaw in the upper rack of this dishwasher, which was purchased new in the summer of 2010. Six inch bowls which are supposed to be placed in the center of the upper rack are unable to remain upright, they tip into and bump into each other. These have the same problem on the lower rack except they will stack correctly in the two slots reserved for larger serving bowls. Also, some of the openings in the rear of the upper rack are large enough for small juice glasses, 2.5 inches in diameter and 3 inches high to tip through and fall onto the lower rack.

If ever I purchase again a Whirlpool dishwasher, it will not be purchased without first taking a sampling of dishes to the seller to see if said dishes stack correctly in the dishwasher. Extra care must be exercised when placing small juice glasses and six-inch bowels into the top rack of this dishwasher. The design flaw of the top rack compromises the rack's ability to safely accommodate small juice glasses at the rear of the rack without the risk of them falling (and perhaps breaking) onto the lower rack. The design flaw of the top rack also makes it impossible to clearly separate/accommodate more than about four six-inch bowls at a time in the center row without the danger of the bowls being chipped or not being cleaned at the points of contact with other bowls.

In return, Whirlpool will send me the repair kit necessary for the repair as well as the waiver. This was five months ago.

Nothing has been delivered to me. I have persistently called the escalation department but it appears that they have a problem with the mailing, a problem with processing the order, or they do not know whats going on with my account.

Friday, 2/18/2011 I again called to inquire about the part. Susan (no last name) said, "I'm sending this to my supervisor because of your special circumstance and I will call you tomorrow about the status of your repair kit". There was no call. I am at my wits end. Whirlpool, with an annual sales of approximately 17 billion in 2009, can not seem to hire someone to accurately take care of a problem they caused and which is causing many of their customers' pain and anguish. If there is something I can do or perhaps advice that you may be able to offer I would greatly appreciate it.

She has basically warehoused this Whirlpool Dishwasher (model # GU1200XTLS3, serial #FP4602325) since she bought it 'new', having to hand wash, while the washer lived the good life of retirement! I've searched Whirlpool's database of recalls, and have found none describing their re-engineering of the 'chopper' mechanism. When I looked at the online chopper, it's evident the replacement unit has been re-tooled to correct a poorly engineered design. The self-cleaning screen of the chopper is so deeply embedded in the motor unit, that Whirlpool Management expected no one to diagnose the root cause of it's failure.

This dishwasher was highly promoted at the retail outlet, and it's Manufacturer's Recommended Price reflected this "top-of-the line" quality. Taraneh was 'taught' to believe, this was the quality of all dishwashers, since she is from another country, and lacked a 'standard' by which to compare. After we purchased another comparable unit from a competitor's line-up, and was so thoroughly satisfied, was when the 'Whirlpool Con' realized.

The motor is fine but the shaft is pressed on to a plastic slinger that goes into the pump ass and drives the impeller. The plastic slinger melts and breaks above the fan which causes the motor shaft to spin freely without turning the plastic drive shaft. The only fix is to buy a new motor which is stupid when all you need is a $10 dollar part that is not sold by itself! I have run in to this problem many times and I am afraid I will find many more like this. This is really my only complaint with this design. Most recently (10/2010), I noticed water sipping through the bottom of the dishwasher. As a mechanical engineer, I took the unit out and inspected the unit thoroughly. I noticed a white residue on the lower pump motor assembly. I removed and disassembled the pump motor and determined the root cause to be a defective motor shaft which lead to water leaking into the back compartment of the motor assembly where there shouldn't be any water (no rubber gasket). I called Whirlpool and the warranty has expired and that they cannot provide the part to me free of charge even though I told them that I could take the part to their service provider for examination. Even if their service provider was to conclude the motor assembly is the root cause, I will still need to pay for the motor assembly.

From the day it was installed, it did not perform well. I gave it a two week trial and when I knew that it was not something on my end that was the problem, I had the installer come out again to take a look. Everything was installed correctly and operating as it should. The problem is that the model just does not clean well. Also, it is not well designed. There are always food particles in various areas and it never completely dries. Glassware is usually dull. I'm one of those people who just can't place things in the d/w without rinsing, so it's not as if I'm expecting miracles. I use the recommended rinse agent and have even varied my detergents.

We had purchased the dishwasher model KUDD01DPPA1 with the serial number FPS4715013 from ABT in Chicago. We took out an extended warranty for the product. During the time of the extended warranty about May 2009, the upper drawer malfunctioned and flooded and therefore the entire dishwasher was not working anymore. We had ABT in several times working on the dishwasher but they never solved the problem.

To cure the problem we had to let the dishwasher dry-out and then, for a short term only, the dishwasher worked and until the same problem came back. During this process, the extended warranty expired and we were out of luck with ABT.

We engaged a repair company Marshall Repair 848-829-4201 who then determined that we needed a new motherboard. Marshall ordered the component on May 24, 2010 and was told that the motherboard was on back order and should come in about a month. A potential delivery date was postponed several times until we were told that it should ship by August 23, 2010.

August came and went and after a new inquiry. We were told the part may now come at the end of November (hopefully this year). My wife then wrote a complaint to your costumer service department and got a noncommittal answer back with an apology and "if you have other questions you can call 1-800-442-9991"! When we bough this product four years ago, we were told that it was a top line product. It failed and what we see is a miserable treatment of a customer without getting a solution. KitchenAid dishwasher’s (model number: KUDP01FLBL5, serial number: FR3201949) product design/defect causes predictable opportunity for control circuit board failure leading to fire. There are fire incident reports I have collected in the past year. Smoke and then flames came out of the side of the control panel. Power stayed to the dishwasher but the control panel is fried.

I loaded the dishwasher before going to bed, as usual. I left the kitchen and went upstairs to bed. The dogs started acting strangely and started barking. I ran downstairs. I followed them and saw the dishwasher belching black smoke, popping noises, blue sparks, and buzzing sounds. I ran down to the basement to trip the breaker, since the dishwasher did not trip the breaker when the fire started. Five days later, the smell is still in the house (electrical fire). I called Whirlpool. They said that the dishwasher was at the end of its life expectancy.

They only expect the appliance to last 9 years. I know that I purchased this less than 9 years ago! Evidently, it is not part of the recall, even though all of these models are wired the same with the same defective motors from China! I am so glad the dogs were alert. Otherwise, the house could have burned down around us! A dishwasher is something you turn on and go to bed or leave the house while it's running! I suppose a certain number of people have to die before the government intercedes about these sub-standard appliances these companies are allowed to sell to an unsuspecting public.

Flames shot out of top front of our Superba dishwasher 5 to 10 minutes into normal wash cycle on 3/22/09 (fire did not trip the circuit breaker). The dishwasher has its own breaker. The breaker box was inspected approximately 5 years ago during subpanel upgrade. And it was inspected again after the fire. It checked out fine with no problems with the breaker. Our insurance company, State Farm, picked up our dishwasher and took it back to their lab for analysis. The product details are as follows: model number: KUDS01DJSS0 and serial number: FL0618828.

But, trusting the name Whirlpool, I purchased a dishwasher four (4) years ago. I was extremely happy with it. It cleaned as it said it would and the inside (such as the plastic) really held up well until the dishwasher quit...just quit. I have had dishwashers last 15 years or more but never four. There is no damage except to countless bowls, etc. the stove melted. No damage made by the dishwasher except to your reputation. By the way, I could care less about your attorneys unless they are interested in buying a used stove and a non-working dishwasher.

I just called Whirlpool customer service. They are willing to pick-up the cost of the part, but not the labor. As an ex-Store Manager, Service manager and ex-senior sale for a local appliance chain. this is no good. Whirlpool is claiming that they have not had very few service problems with this unit.

We had a two and a half years old Whirlpool dishwasher model DU1145XTPQ6. The "clean" light kept flashing and the washer would not restart or recycle. Looking at the troubleshooting section of the owners manual, it states, "The dishwasher has malfunctioned. Call for service to check the heater circuit." We called Whirlpool service and they scheduled a service call for us as the indicated defective parts could still be under warranty. The service tech arrived and after a few moments, told us the machine needs a new motor, an item not covered by the warranty. To have him not do anything would still be a $129.00 charge. This to tell us it isn't what the manual said the problem was.

He also mentioned that his company replaces an average of two motors a week on these units as the company is aware of the problem and has changed suppliers. The cost of the motor is $201.94. I saw two choices at the time. Either I spend $129 for him to tell us we need to buy another $400 dishwasher or spend a total of $343.06 to replace the motor. We replaced the motor. I called Whirlpool customer service to see if they would honor any portion of the cost and was told I should have called customer service to see if they could have troubleshooted the problem over the phone.

No way would they reimburse any of the costs, not even the price of the service call. Because the problem was diagnosed according to their recommendations and using their service provider because it was supposed to be a warranted repair. I had no choice but to spend at least $129.00.

I purchased a Whirlpool dishwasher model number DU1055XTSQ2 in the fall of 2007. In the fall of 2009, the dishwasher started to get a little loud and quit working. An appliance repairman looked at the unit and informed me that the motor was burnt out. I felt this could not be possible as this machine was only used at a maximum of twice a week, as there are only two persons living in this household. The cost of repair would be in the vicinity of $450.

Considering that the cost of the dishwasher is not much more than the repair, I thought I would contact Whirlpool's customer services via email to see if they would go good for the repair or part of it. They basically brushed me off, telling me they would do nothing, as there is only a 1-year warranty on their goods.

I purchased a brand-new Quiet Partner Whirlpool dishwasher in 2009. It never did clean the dishes properly. After 14 months, water started leaking out from under the countertops and dishwasher. The technician came and said it was the clamp to the pump. He replaced the clamp. After two washings, I had another flood. Same problem. One tech told me it was leaking around the motor, second tech replaced the clamp, and third tech wanted to replace the pump and clamp.

My kitchen cabinets now need to be replaced from extensive water damage. My new Pergo floor has to be replaced in the living room and hallway, because of all the water that went under the sub-flooring due to the dishwasher clamp and pump coming loose.

I have a claim with State Farm, and they only paid me $2,000 to replace my floor. I filed a second claim for the number two flood episode to cover the cost of my cabinets. I have had Servpro out to dry out my sheet rock in the living room and the way that butts up against the kitchen. I have three large blowers and a huge dehumidifier running to clear the moisture build up. I do not know if I now have a mold problem. I have around $30,000 worth of damage to my house, all because of this dishwasher.

I will never buy another Whirlpool product! Whirlpool said to buy another dishwasher and they will reimburse me but not reimburse for the damages caused to my home. Buyer, beware!

For the 4th time in a year, I have had a service call for a Whirlpool dishwasher purchased and manufactured in 2008 (Model DU1055XTSQ3). The first time, the circuit board for the control panels was identified as the culprit. This occurred under warranty in early 2009. I had to back-order the part, then it was deemed not to work.

After another delay for back-ordering, the second panel arrived. It worked, but the power supply panel was identified as flawed. The service technician on the third visit (roughly one month after initial contact with Whirlpool) noted a flawed power supply board: "found wiring at unit junction block burnt, bought wire nuts, repaired, tested...and washes and drains fine." (Source: Sears Home Services Receipt, March 4, 2009, Service Order Number **, repair valued at $299.89)

My dissatisfaction with the prior service calls and delays led a Whirlpool representative to provide an extended service contract to me. Now the same issues are coming up (Jan. 2010)--no power identifiable on the buttons of the front of the machine. I have contacted Whirlpool again, gotten a service call (after a 4-day wait), and the service technician has indicated that the thermostat has been identified as faulty. I will need to wait for a replacement part order and then have a customer service guy try that.

The first time I had to pay for a service tech to check it out and it was under warranty for the part, but not labor. I had to pay that. The console keypad quit. It had no power. This dishwasher model has had many people lost and with a broken one not working. The second time it broke down I figured it out. The same problem happened. It was a thermal fuse that supplied power to the machine, yet Whirlpool has not made a recall on this one. For some reasons, they are getting away with making faulty appliances. I called Whirlpool and they told me that they only cover new parts for 30 to 90 days, and that's it. So what do you think?

Whirlpool replaced it free of charge because of the recall. The new dishwasher (Model# GU2455XTSB3) is just a few years old and is now making horrible noises from the pump motor. Investigation reveals multiple consumer complaints of exactly this nature and shows this to be an on-going problem with Whirlpool dishwashers. There appears to be a provision for keeping foreign materials out of the pump, thus causing failure anytime something gets in there (broken glass, etc.). I will never purchase another Whirlpool product.

We purchased a Whirlpool quiet partner 2 dishwasher in December 2008 from Lowes and it has not worked properly from day 1. It does not drain the water from the basin after washing and basically steam baths the dishes in a mist of soapy water. We have had two different service call on this problem. It was determined that the pump was not working properly. The service man ordered a brand new replacement pump from Whirlpool and installed it. Still would not drain the water. Second service call was to replace the drain hose with a new one from Whirlpool. Did not fix the problem. Whirlpool will not replace the dishwasher. They keep coming up with excuses not to do so. They want to send more service people to our home to investigate the problem. We have three small children and my wife is worried about the soap film on the dishes being harmful so we have to wash the dishes by hand. My advise to you is to stay far away from Whirlpool. There are plenty of other companies out there who would have taken care of this by now. Don't put yourself through this. Lowes has not been much help in this either. I'm off to Home Depot to purchase another dishwasher. One that actually works! Stay away from Whirlpool.

I had a Maytag dishwasher that wasn't that old and had a recall. After fighting with them, I decided to purchase a Whirlpool. I purchased a cheaper one and ended up taking it back after 2 weeks and exchanged it for a Whirlpool model #DU1055XTSS2. What a mistake. I have had this thing for 18 months and within the last 3 months, it has destroyed all my dishes, bowls and cooking utensils. They are covered in white, the dishes aren't coming clean and we rinse everything. I read their manual and the temperature is fine. I have tried different detergents, I have tried with and without Jet-Dry, I did the vinegar thing and took apart the screen on the bottom.

When I called them today, the response was hard water and Jet-Dry can cause this problem. I have Chicago water, it is not hard and I had the problem before using Jet-Dry. Then, I was told not to use the heated dry. Well, I don't have time to let them dry on their own. It almost looks like the finish on the bottom is coming off, which could be going on my dishes. I didn't like the design of it after using it for a week or so. Detergent cups don't close easy, one speck too much and you can't close it. The packet detergent doesn't fit in the cup, it is not quite like they advertised. Now I have to purchase a new dishwasher and all new cooking appliances. Whirlpool sells junk.

Eventually, the dishwasher melted some of our plastic dishes and started smoking while I was deployed. My wife freaked out on the phone with me. Maintenance said they could do nothing because it would not reproduce the problem while they were there. We were told to call them the next time it happened.
